The heat of your body as I hug you in the morning hours
My arm tucked underneath yours
Securely locked in
Like our love
The love that almost didn’t last until we both realized our faults
Birds singing duets on the power lines
But the power that still lies in us
The sun shining through the window curtains
But the light that still shines in us
Self medicating with the bottle the night before realizing that we can medicate with each others love instead.
The hungover shaking hands that graze each others bodies realizing that our love is no longer shaky.
There’s no longer darkness in us because we were able to realize the light that we still had.
No longer dimmed by neglect but re-lit with attention

I love you, in ways you've never been loved, for reasons you've never been told, for longer than you think you deserved and with more than you will ever know existed inside me.
