Starkid Starlight Express

All aboard the Starkid dreamcast for Starlight Express, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s beautiful mess of a musical! I know this show has about seven different versions, but I used the current German version as the basis for this dreamcast (with obvious concessions of skating abilities). This has been one of the most anticipated dreamcasts yet based on the amount of people who voted for it, so I hope it doesn’t disappoint!

Most notable Starkid cast members?

Starkid has had a lot of different cast members in their shows through the years and I started wondering who has been in the most shows and how many shows someone would have to be in for them to feel like a "proper" Starkid. I could have looked up to see if anyone has compiled this information but instead I decided to do it myself!

I went through the cast lists of all fourteen live stage shows they have uploaded to their channel (so including VHS Christmas Carol but not Nightmare Time or any other digital series) and here's what I found:

Then there are a handful of people who have only appeared in one or two shows, most notably Bonnie Gruesen, who played Hermione in the first two Potter musicals, Will Brenner, who debuted in Nerdy Prudes Must Die, and Mariah Rose Faith, Angela Giarratana, Curt Mega, Kim Whalen, Kendall Nicole Yakshe and Bryce Charles, who have all appeared in two or more Hatchetfield projects.

A couple of observations:

Some of the actors listed have also been involved behind the scenes, with Nick Lang writing almost every show with his brother Matt Lang, and Jeff Blim and Clark Baxtresser writing the music for several shows.

I was shocked that Rachael Soglin has only been in three Starkid shows but I guess it goes to show that the size of the role also plays a part in how much of a "Starkid" every actor feels.

Cause i never miss an opportunity to talk about it, lmao, My first year of college, on my birthday weekend actually, I got to see their mini improv show series "Yes I'm scared of the dark" and got pics with them after!!!(and was the volunteer in their pre magician show and Meredith tweeted pics of it with me in it!🤣) Jaime and Meredith were SOO sweet omg

Dream Starkid Jangle Ball Tour: Villain Song Setlist

So, I'm super excited about the Jangle Ball. Even if they don't play where I am, I'm just so happy they're going to tour again after all these years!

I've been randomly pondering what my dream set list for the 'Villain Song" section of the tour would be. If digital tickets are released and I see they have completely different songs, then that's totally awesome and pretty likely! I'd enjoy it a wild amount either way. This is just a little fun thing for me to think about and basically, me listing y personal favourite Starkid villain songs.

I tried to include mostly villain songs, but some are a stretch, some are Starkid tour classics and some are songs I just really want to see a live version of. I know they've said in livestreams that any song can be twisted (ha!) into a villain song, and they want to perform some songs in ways that they haven't been performed before, maybe with different performers than the originals. And they said they wanted to change up the set list a bit for different locations. That sounds very fun! And yep, my list is far too long for half a concert but I can't control myself.

It’s time for Starkid to get totally Shucked! The bizarre experience of Broadway’s new corn-based musical almost feels like a Starkid musical to me so I was all too ready to create this dreamcast once the cast recording dropped. I’ve watched “A Very Potter Sequel” and God, I wasn’t disappointed! The only thing that bothers me a little – it seems that there are more jokes… lower than the belt than it was in the first one, or is it just me? Well, I don’t have something against those jokes – just noticing. (Spoilers!) Well, they just couldn’t not show us the first year – how everybody met, got sorted, start their classes and play quidditch. We also got some Marauders’ stories. Because yes, it’s the first year, but still has so much stuff mixed – Lupin and Sirius (oh, a little Wolfstar fan in me was so happy) Umbridge and Dumbledore missing, and time travelling Malfoys… Yes! Lucious Malfoy. O. My. Devil. He’s so handsome! (I know, that it’s the same actor as Cedric Diggory) And he dances all the time! He can’t make a single simple step – all is choreographed. He also has too much eyeliner, but since Brian and Pat taught us (“Gill and Gilbert”, episode 14), that eyeliner equals magic, I think it’s reasonable. Enjoyed seeing Joe Walker (yes, I’ve learned his name) as Umbridge – he was remarkable. Fabulous. If he had spoken normally, I think, I might have even fallen for this character. Do you think I didn’t cry? Of course, you didn’t think so, you know me too well. I cried on “Guys Like Potter” because it makes me feel feelings and I shed a happy tear during the bows when the whole cast was singing “Going back to Hogwarts”. Totally watching the next part. P.S. One thing which was unclear for me was Narcissa and Dobby and how could she “choreograph an affair” with him, but then I remembered that Hagrid’s parents existed in canon and rejoiced that Dobby was at least an adult elf for sure.
