Today’s topic is about how stats, analytics, and other metrics can affect the creative process.

Before we get started, here’s a quick rundown of the different kinds of numbers you might run into while you’re making or reading webcomics!

Follower Counts

What is this? - How many people are signed up to see your content automatically

Where do you see it? - Webtoons, Tapas, all the social medias (Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, TikTok)

How this metric is helpful - It's a talking point I guess, you can have little contests when you get to a cool number or if you're close to a cool number

How this metric can be flawed - On any platform where your content is not locked, you don't HAVE to be a follower to see someone's content, in fact almost all social media by default will throw people's posts around that you DON'T know about, so there CAN be a lot more people looking at your stuff than just your follower count.

On the flip side followers don't always give you comments, money, or loyalty; sometimes they're not even there! Followers can be fake/bots/people following you for a contest/inactive accounts following you. So I think it's important if you're slipping into a mindset that follower count equals how many people "care" about your content that that is not the case. It's really more reflective of what tactics you OR (more likely) the platform are using to sign people up to be your follower.

If you find yourself wanting a higher follower count, just try and think of the reason you want this. What kinds of problems do you see it solving, how do you think it'll change your experience to get more followers? Because I guarantee you there is some different thing you want to be paying attention to, driving follows in and of itself does nothing and can actually hurt if you're a company who's incentivizing people to follow too many people all at once and they get overwhelmed by all that content.

Views/Traffic

What is this? - How many people have viewed your content or clicked on any links you put in that content

Where do you see it? Webtoon, Tapas, Google Analytics if you have your own site, you can also see it if you click the little bar icon on a Tweet

How this metric is helpful - It shows you how many browsers have loaded your content

How this metric can be flawed - They're better than Follower Count for sure, but still not 100% indicative of your quality. You might be making a kind of story where it really reads better to visit every few months and catch up, which will show as fewer views. Temporary features can bloat view numbers. Views can come from negative sources/trolls who are dunking on you/the ol' ratio. Views are also not an indication of who's PASSIONATE about your work or who would spend MONEY on your work. I know a lot of people who really don't get many views but they make a lot of money because the few people that ARE reading their work really love it, and I know a lot of people who get tons of views and really don't have a bead on monetizing it.

If you find yourself wanting more views, you probably need to be looking at personally appealing to your circles, getting involved in new ones. One thing my buddy Star does is fanart for things that are thematically similar to her comic Castoff, and if they take off, just including a "I do more stuff like this on my comic which you can read here!". DON'T DM people or put them on your mailing list without their consent, listen as much as you talk, but yeah, probably need to be dropping your link in APPROPRIATE spaces a little more.

Comments

What is this? - How many people are writing out their thoughts in the spaces you're providing them

Where do you see it? - Bottom of comic updates, responses on social media

How this metric is helpful - I love comments, it's really a nice way for people to express what they're enjoying about your comic, they can be so uplifting and make you feel very appreciated

How this metric can be flawed - Comments really do need to have good moderation tools and be closely moderated because a lot of us nerds on the internet are NOT social butterflies and might say awkward or incendiary things, and when that happens the comment section becomes not a very fun party to hang out in. You also might have an interface that isn't easy to SEE where the comments are. Comment culture is very different on personal sites versus Webtoon and they can be kind of rude if the reader is younger or doesn't know the author reads the comments, OR MY PROBLEM RIGHT NOW, you might use Disqus and be CONSTANTLY PLAGUED BY PORNBOTS.

If you find yourself wanting more comments, again, asking people to leave comments every so often, posing a question in your author notes, and again, reminding people that if they like your stuff you want to hear from them can go a long way! Showcasing the comments you've gotten that you like and want of is also nice! And saving screenshots in a folder or in a special place on your Discord server is a fun time too. I started doing sort of a yearbook treatment that includes all my favorite comments at the end of the year and it's really a nice way to preserve that uplifting feeling.

Ratings/Votes

What is this? - Star ratings on a 1-5 scale, supposedly reflective of opinions of your comic

Where do you see it? Webtoon, Tapas, Goodreads, TopWebComics, storefronts sometimes like Amazon

How is this metric helpful? - Presumably helps a reader decide if a comic is popular and if they should buy or read it, boosts you in the algorithm a LOT

How this metric can be flawed - Some systems penalize you if it's not the right KIND of comment (Instagram it needs to be like 5 words long I think?) People don't remember to rank things, even when they like them! It can really mislead you into thinking your comic is bad when it's probably not. Negative ratings can be based on totally random or subjective things like if the person is allergic to your font choice, if the system isn't working for them, if they misread your description and thought you were trying to do something you weren't, votes can be trolls, and on Webtoon/Tapas, there's no way to tell "okay out of 6000 people who gave this 5 stars, one is saying it's bad". It's very unqualified data and it's not gonna help you FIX anything if there IS something that's less effective about your comic. And we're storytellers, so we're naturally problem solvers, and that can be a really dangerous train when that ONE guy out of 6000 says there's a problem, because part of your brain is going to go "PROBLEM TO FIX MUST FIX PROBLEM" or "I DID A PROBLEM?? NOOO I AM AN AWFUL PERSON" or both.

If you find yourself wanting more positive ratings, I think asking for 5-star reviews is something you hear about a lot, and I do think if the platform you're using ranks things numerically, that's worth doing every so often. Don't get pushy or demanding with it, just let people know that it does actually tangibly help you and it's a free thing they can do if they're enjoying your stuff! A lot of times people just need reminders! For TopWebComics, I made a quick URL at sombulus.com/vote that'll take you right to my voting portal, I upload new incentives there every week, and I have announcements scheduled out on Twitter every week and at the start of the month when the votes reset to remind people that it helps boost my comic in the rankings.

Likes/Shares

What is this? - Someone clicking the thumbs or the upvotes or the hearts or the Toots to say they enjoyed a thing, and someone clicking a different thing to share that post with someone else

Where do you see it? - Webtoon/Tapas, social media

How is this metric helpful? - Boosts you in the algorithm a little, gets your stuff spread to other peoples' followers

How this metric can be flawed - Ratios can actually mean people are taking it out of context, very rarely results in clickthroughs or sales unless you reach a viral critical mass, very non-commital support, you could be posting at a weird time of day or flooded out by worldwide news current events/drama, of which there is so much these days. You can also feel like posting frequently takes a lot of work and time that you don't have and it's just exhausting.

If you find yourself wanting more likes/shares, try scheduling things so far in advance that you forget you even put them there. I love this because if a post DOESN'T get any attention, I forget I even made it, and if it DOES, then it's a pleasant surprise. You can also ask sometimes if you have something urgent, just say a little "share this with your friends!" line on the tweet. Don't abuse this but it can definitely work out. Also in social media, reshare old content after a while! Nobody cares!

Some people use Likes as kind of either a read receipt or a bookmark, which can sometimes artificially mess with the numbers on this particular metric.

Revenue

What is this? - MONEY! Money that you make from ad revenue, sales, Patreon or Ko-Fi subscripts, tipping in Tapas, etc.

Where do you see it? - You typically gotta set up a shop or campaign somewhere or seek out a publisher (I think we're gonna have a whole other episode on allll the ways you can do that)

How is this metric helpful? - Money can be exchanged for goods and services, both of which I enjoy a lot

How this metric can be flawed - Money is only a metric of if you've made a product that is sellable and you've successfully convinced people to buy it, which is an extremely different skill than making a good comic. Just making a comic and printing a book is going to lead to a lot of books in your closet gathering dust. Online comic sales for me have been exceedingly hard, I don't make a lot of side comics or other projects, there's just a lot of distracting things online so I really depend on things like limited time crowdfunds to move my books online. I've also seen this one a million times where people will ask their followers on twitter "which of these things would you buy", their followers vote, but then they put it in their store and those people suddenly have no money.

If you find yourself wanting more money, don't we all? But also you really do have to experiment a lot sometimes to find products that are sellable, and how to present them. You need clear compelling pictures, you need to make a regular habit of mentioning that you have stuff for sale, also helps if you have NEW products to appeal to the people who want to give you MORE money but they already have all the stuff you sell. The number of people who are willing and able to give you money is probably small, but the good news is that repeat customers are very much a thing, so look for ways to encourage repetition from the same people as well as reaching new ones.

A3! | TaiTenYuki | can we still eat cake?

Summary:

It's the night before Yuki's birthday.

A/N: long time no see lol. i've been writing casually on my casual writing account qermittea on twitter, but otherwise, i havent really written much;; anyway, here's a lil tyt for yuki's birthday. im still not confident writing my faves but i tried :")

The true indicator of getting older is the inability to stay up late willingly anymore. As soon as 9 PM comes rolling around, Taichi finds himself gravitating to the comfort of snuggling under their duvet sheets.

"Just go to sleep, idiot. Your mouth is so wide when you yawn, flies will start flying in without you noticing," Yuki says, after the nth time Taichi must have done so.

The sewing machine works as usual with its rhythmic sounds and Taichi had purposely gone to the workshop to stay awake, but seems like the familiarity is firing back on him instead.

"I'm okay...." he slurs out.

Yuki stops his project for a second and looks in Taichi's direction, shaking his head.

"You don't have to greet me at midnight, you know? Even I might not be awake then."

"No! We've done this every year! Ten-chan is even coming later with the cake-" Taichi slaps his own mouth in realization.

"Cake? Hey, we won't even be able to finish that." Yuki frowns. Another sign of aging seems to be finding most things too sweet for their liking. Gone are the days where Taichi could tolerate a single bite of a Kame Bun, the epitome of sugar, and now he's down to eating 2 slices of cakes maximum.

The chair creaks as Taichi gets up and walks towards his boyfriend, putting his arms around Yuki's neck and tucking in Yuki's head under his chin while the other sits down at their work table.

"It's fine, Yuki-chan! I'm sure Tomo-chan and Miki-chan are willing to eat the leftovers! Aren't you going to celebrate your birthday at the store?" Taichi wants to rub his face on Yuki's cheeks like he does with Tenma (he's been called a cat over being a dog for times like these) but he doesn't want to go overboard. It had taken time for Yuki to get used to these affectionate touches. He usually only let people hug him during big emotional moments, but through the years, he spoils Tenma and Taichi with a bit of hand-holding and cuddling.

"Yeah, those two would eat anything," he replies, deadpan. But Taichi can tell Yuki says so with fondness.

The doorbell rings. Even after all these years, they are much more comfortable with opening the door to each other than going in with their keys. It’s just not the same to come home to a quiet house.

“Coming!” Taichi yells out.

There are footsteps that follow behind him as he goes to their front door, humming.

Opening the door reveals an all-masked, complete with sunglasses Tenma, carrying a wrapped box in one hand, and a plastic from one of their favorite bakeries in the other.

“Welcome home, Ten-chan!”

“Welcome back, hack.”

“I’m home- hey! At least be nice to your gift-giver!” There’s not bite in Tenma’s words and he simply tips out of his shoes and slides them to the side while Taichi locks the door behind him.

“Gift or not, you’re always going to be a hack.” The tip of Yuki’s mouth twitches.

Tenma glances up at their wall, muttering“’Bout three more hours…”

Yuki leans on the wall, arms crossed. “You guys don’t have to wait up…we’re not getting any younger, especially you two that are older than me.”

“Nonsense! We do this every year! We can watch a movie to stay awake…”

“One of yours?”

“Nah. How about this one?”

“No fair, guys! If we’re watching Mankai videos, not just the Autumn Troupe! We’ll only be watching me!”

“I’m not sure I’m in the mood to see my acting in those days.”

“You were great, Yuki-chan! We’re just all more experienced now.”

“Okay, fine, fine. Here’s a Winter one.”

“How does Azu-nee look the same even after all this time…”

“Magic…maybe he really was a vampire.”

“Stop! No supernatural speculations!”

“Scaredy-cat.”

“Hey! So is Taichi!”

The hours pass and they are all sat at their couch, heads on top of each other. Tenma is snoring at one end of the couch while Taichi is clutching onto a pillow he had brought from the bedroom. Yuki’s eyes flutter awake to the scene of Tasuku helplessly left alone in his room after the character of Azuma bites him. He stays in that position, slowly stretching out his neck and joints, in a way that doesn’t disturb his sleeping boyfriends beside him.

“Happy birthday,” he whispers to himself, looking up at the ceiling where glow-in-the-dark stickers were plastered onto years ago.

How long have they lived in this house? Old skateboard equipment and yoyos are set beside film and dramas awards on their shelves beside the television. Some walls have cracks and dents from accidents from his two clumsy men. The dining table has some felt dolls as the centerpiece that he had made himself, worn over time, but still washed regularly to stay clean.

When Yuki had taken up the job to make clothes for a theatre at the age of fourteen, he hadn’t imagined it would get him, here, in the most peaceful place there is.

Despite the petty fights, the not-so-petty arguments, the ups and downs of puberty, their twenties, and everything that came after – they’re still together. Albeit, the two who had insisted on staying up are the ones conked out right now.

He huffs out a laugh.

This is the way things should be.

question about the fic of yours! the strade/lawrence one. i understand if you aren't interested in finishing it, but if that is the case, would you be willing to share what you had planned for the rest of the story? i found it just recently and have read through it twice. i really like your writing voice and the difference between you writing the story as it follows law or strade, respectively :) have a nice afternoon!

anon about the fic, back again! i realized this blog is a ways away from your ao3 so i am going to explain how i got here because i realize otherwise it could be a bit unsettling. in the fic's last author note you mention your old blog, which has a carrd, which links to your twitter, which links here. that's all!

Oh boy omg. I mean, on the one hand, super flattering that you liked the fic enough to come hunt me down elsewhere! On the other hand, I suppose I have to thank you for a reminder about internet safety lmao. Like, no, I don't mind, it's cool -- it's not like I'm trying to hide or anything. My username here used to be just a play off of my softhorrorgay account omg, so I'm not like...trying to lay ultra low or anything.

Honestly, I kind of lost steam on the fic! Not because I didn't like it, because I love the ship, but I don't do a whole lot of fic writing, exactly because I tend to burn out on writing it. When it comes to writing, I'm way more into rping, because it's collaborative, and I don't have to do the whole thing myself.

Let's see if I can give a rough rundown of what I was thinking for it, if I can remember. Bullet points under the cut! Also HEAVY TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR MENTIONS OF CANNIBALISM, NECRO, NON/DUBCON, AND OTHER NASTINESS. IT WAS A NASTY FIC. YE'VE BEEN WARNED.

Okay, so, I definitely wanted there to be some red riding hood themes, but most of that was going to occur through the eyes of Lawrence during drugged scenes. Here's what I can remember off the top of my head:

Lawrence was going to have a lot of surreal moments because he was constantly drugging himself to deal with the panic of feeling hunted by Strade

Strade was going to start finding out more about Lawrence slowly, by way of stalking him to find out more about where he goes, what he does, and when he might catch him alone

They were going to have another close call in the woods, where Strade was going to discover Lawrence bathing in the river, was going to see blood on his mouth, conclude he'd been eating something out here, and was going to try to wrangle him onto the riverbank, which was going to result in panicked thrashing from Lawrence, during which he was going to break Strade's nose and break free

Lawrence makes up his mind to kill Strade, because he's causing too much of a problem, but he winds up with someone new taped up in his apartment, which complicates things further, because he doesn't want to have to get rid of two bodies at the same time, and he doesn't know where Strade stays, and he doesn't even know if he wants to kill this new person, because it's nice to have company that doesn't make him feel so panicked

Strade finds Lawrence's apartment, picks the locks while Lawrence is at work, and discovers the little secret that Lawrence is keeping hidden away in here, and he decides then and there that he's not going to let Lawrence go, not ever, he's too interesting, he's too much like himself

Strade entertains himself in the meantime by helping himself to the wrapped up gift Lawrence has unwittingly left for him here, and Lawrence comes back to his captive in pieces

Lawrence, high as balls and tripping a bit, is seeing the scene in a very fantastical way, and when Strade makes himself known, there's a lot of wolfish imagery going on, something, something, Strade stalks closer, until Lawrence's freeze turns into fight because NO, why is he here, no one is allowed in here

They tangle, they fight, they beat the shit out of each other, until Strade eventually gets the upper hand, and fucks Lawrence in the gore of the recently dismembered captive while asking him about what he was doing in the woods - was he burying a body? Was he eating a body? He was naked -- was he fucking a body? Disgusting, said with pure adoration

Strade takes him home, slaps a collar on him, and in a short epilogue follow-up, there was gonna be a scene where it becomes clear that Lawrence actually settled in pretty well, because despite the horrors that Strade inflicts on him, Strade is every bit as obsessive as he is, he doesn't have to worry about Strade leaving, because look at what lengths Strade went to to get him and keep him, and when Strade's finished with a new plaything, he likes to bring up a chair and watch while Lawrence humiliates himself by humping at/fucking/playing with whatever is left of them

And I think that's about the gist of what I had planned! Obviously that's just kind of a bare bones skeleton, but that's generally what I was thinking. Hope that's what you were looking for, anon, and thanks for letting me know you liked my fic!✌️

The most relatable out of the bunch because this man is still broke and can only rely on the primogems he can farm. And he had a LOT. The one thing he doesn’t have a lot on, however, is his luck.

So how did he manage to pull you?: Well after exhausting all his primogem on your banner with nothing but weapons and other characters, he has lost his resolve. On his birthday, a friend of his gifted him a chibi plushie of you and he has treasured it ever since, treating and handling it like its a figurine.

This lucky wealthy bastard with no remorse for his money whales for EVERY character. He’s making a collection, which is to get all the characters, especially the five stars. So when your banner finally popped up, he’s gonna square up and trigger a whole ass meteor shower.

How he pulled you: Money. His luck with this games are actually not the best so he always compensates with money, he got you halfway through the first failed pity, almost giving him a heart attack that he might actually break the bank just to get you.

And then he pulls more to raise your constellation lol.

The first thing he does is look over your character info and read through it all; constellation infos, your base stats, artifact compatibility.

At the end when he’s maximized everything, he would then focus on playing around with your character *coughs climbing noises coughs*

He thought you’d just be another part of his collection but playing with your character was very enjoyable and in-line with his playstyle- oops 100 screenshots with the Kamera-

Any and all merchandise that he fancies would be his, and he’s definitely flexing it to the other sweetie nerds who call themselves simps. He’s fighting for the simping title, and he’s currently neck and neck with this fanartist in Pixiv.

Speaking of that fanartist, he definitely commissioned an expensive and detailed portrait of you, full rights and everything. No one else was allowed to use it but him.

Was also the first one with the audacity to call out your VA to create an account on Tiktok to create more content with your voice. He was successful.

His obssession also comes in the form of self-indulgent contents, and had been keeping track of the ship wars happening. During conventions, he cosplays as the character shipped with you the most (or the character he thinks should end up with you).

Silently scrutinizing those who cosplay you, only ever taking pictures with/of the best looking one, sorry haha

Definitely flaunts that you are his waifu/husbando and will fight for best girl/best boy during debates or polls. Has mobilized the community to vote for you once. He’s very persuasive.

Ganyu the Employed

Ganyu, our dearest overworker, is one of the players in the older stage who actually has a job but still plays Genshin for their past times. The gorgeous sceneries and the music is her main focus in playing the game, not much of a try-hard but still decent in the combat mechanics.

How she pulled you: You came home within 50 pulls! And you appeared again after another 10 pull! Ganyu was so SHOOKT and so distressed because oh goodness, what does she do? She doesn’t know anything much about you!

Will rewatch your three trailers to try and understand your skills better, ended up saving the soundtracks from them because that was such a nice trailer music! Tnbee gains a new follower!

Ganyu will take a while before she can properly play or build you up because she’s so busy with work, she only ever plays when she feels fully done with her work.

During her break she plays with your character while multi-tasking on eating, earphones plugged in and sight on the phone as she farms materials and artifacts for you.

The moment she gets more help from her player friends tho, holy shit, you just ended up being so OP. She had so many good artifacts and weapons for you because she didn’t know what they were for before.

She loves how you’re so easy to use and can easily solo the enemies and even the boss fights. A huge breather, because now Ganyu can cheese the battles that takes a while, to give her more time to focus on the storyline and lores.

Since Ganyu plays for the story and aesthetic, she’ll find you almost always in her team. Still very proud of her pull, she makes the best screenshots of your fights or in the best angle through exploration.

Treasures you so much she starts talking to her phone- “Ah, no, please don’t fall.” “There’s violetgrass up there, let’s try and get it”

Blushes everytime you produce a sound when climbing, doesn’t change you anyways tho

Hums to your trailer music while working, and if permitted, would have the song on repeat while she buries herself in work. She finds it really refreshing and the time she spends in work miraculously flies by fast when she gets lost in the sound.

When they first saw it everyone was like...couldn’t you find someone else...that’s not an extremely important cast member to do that... but it’s just Levi, he insists on doing it himself. Your assistant has the easiest job in the world because he elevates all of their jobs for them.

CAREFULLY HOLDS THE TRAIN OF YOUR DRESS ON RED CARPETS

When your hair gets tousled or locks fall over your face during filming or photoshoots, the cameramen will point it out, but before any of the hair or makeup people manage to get to you, Levi will just ;; walk over and fix it himself. The two of you probably have the softest smiles at that moment when he’s carefully brushing your hair out of your face.

Isn’t in a lot of roles. He definitely gets offered a whole bunch of roles!! but especially when you two started dating, he told himself that he didn’t want you guys to crash and burn like many other celebrity couples since they normally spend a lot of time apart and are usually thousands of miles away from each other. When he’s not filming AOT, he tends to take a break from acting and go with you to your jobs.

These are interspersed with pictures of him when he has to promote something that’s like in his contract.

When he posts pictures or stories that doesn’t have you in it, the comments are all, “Where’s [Name].”

When little kids come up to him during panels or out on the street he’ll get jokingly concerned that they’re watching AOT. Like, “Y-You watch the series?? Do your parents know? Is it too scary for you?”

Tries to make you laugh by pulling funny faces where the camera can’t see him.

If you mess up on your line, he’ll immediately build on that and goof off with you, resulting in the two of you getting yelled at.

Quality time is one of his love languages, so like Levi, your managers will work together to make sure your schedules work with each other.

Sometimes when you have other roles outside of AOT, you might catch him as some regular extra in the background.

It can’t be helped if sessions go on for too long sometimes, but if it becomes a reoccurring thing due to unorganized sets, he’ll fight with the director and crew to get a break since it’s important for everyone to get some rest.

If your character is shipped with some character That’s Not Him, the directors know not to show his face during kiss scenes or romantic scenes because he’ll legitimately break character and pout or become so stone faced that he can’t emote at all.

This Academy Award winning actor will just go 🧍 on the sidelines while you’re trying to kiss Jean for a scene but his stare is burning on the side of your head.

okay, so this is basically a “top 3 kisses” that dream would like the most (based on what I think). thought it would be a good and different way to celebrate reaching 100 followers! thank you guys all for your support, I just started this mcytblr account a few weeks ago and I’m already at 100 followers. wow! you're all so amazing and make my day<3 thank you

FRENCH KISS

I mean, who doesn't like a nice and passionate french kiss? definitely one of his favs. would be the type to kiss you when coming home, for it to end up being a bunch of french kissing against the door. even though it’s one of his favourites, he doesn't like initiating it ALL the time. he likes to surprise you - slip in his tongue when he feels the need to - not every time you kiss.

you don't now how long you'd been laying there for - the minutes that had gone by felt timeless. the sun was setting and the wind was picking up slightly, the sound of leaves brushing against each other and the smell of grass filling your senses.

opening your eyes, you looked up at the sky, half covered by the tree leaves you were laying under. the blanket underneath you felt soft against your skin, restraining the grass from embedding into your skin beneath it.

slowly, you sat up, smiling as you looked towards his focused expression. he broke his focus away from the book once noticing you’d awoken from your nap, smiling back at you before bending the corner of the page he’d reached, and closing the book. it bugged you that he didn't just use a bookmark like any sane person, but you didn't want to ruin the peaceful moment surrounded by nature, just because you did some things differently than he did. in fact, you found it slightly attractive even though it pissed you off. only he could make you feel that way.

“good nap?” he asked, taking your hand in his and placing a short peck on your knuckles. you nodded, flattening out your hair and breathing in the freshness of the air.

“yeah, it was good.” you looked around the park, fixing your eyes on the different people there. most of the ones that were there before you’d taken a nap were gone by now - only a few people and a couple of dogs left. it was maybe around 6 pm now if you were to guess, based off of the temperature and the amount of people. “wanna pack things up and head home?”

he nodded; “yeah.”

he collected the things you’d brought with you, packing them into the bag, whilst you folded the blanket neatly back together. right when you were about to leave you noticed a funny mark etched into the tree you were laying beneath. out of instinct, you walked towards it, letting go of the hand that had been holding yours.

“hey, look.” you pointed at the small quote in the tree, letting your finger slide across the bark. “’sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory’. that's beautiful, don't you think?”

he walked up beside you, staring at the words embedded into the tree. he shrugged his shoulders. “it’s okay, I guess.”

you turned to him, arm falling to rest by your side again. “don’t you think it’s a sign? I mean, what are the chances that we’ve been under this tree the whole day, and now this is here? not a coincidence, I think” your words made him smile. he wrapped an arm around you, pulling your body closer to his.

“maybe. I mean, I’m sure it was there before we got here but, let’s take action in what it’s telling us, shall we?” as he spoke, he leaned in towards you, placing a gentle peck on your lips. pulling away ever so slightly, waiting for a response, you smiled at his words and took the chance to rest your hands on his neck, letting your index fingers rest behind his ears.

he placed his lips on yours again, this time adding more pressure. your heart pumped in your chest and blood flushed to your cheeks, your eyes closing as you let yourself get lost in the moment. he opened his mouth against yours, trying to pry your lips apart. you sighed once he’d successfully accomplished the action, gasping at the feeling of his tongue flicking against yours.

the feeling made your breath hitch, completely succumbing to his unpredictable moves. he moved his hand from your waist to your cheek, pulling your face closer to his and deepening the kiss further. his tongue caressed and hugged yours, making sure not to be too agressive. it was just perfect.

the moment ended sooner than you wanted it to once your need for oxygen became evident, pulling away from him slowly with a difficulty of catching your breath.

your eyes, wide as ever, stared into his green ones, glazed over with a dewy shine. your lips felt raw and abused and your heart was beating faster than you could muster - it felt amazing.

“I- wh- whoah,” was all you could say, leaving clay to giggle at your state. he pulled away from you to pick up the bag again, taking your hand in his on your journey home.

“come on - enough memories to make for today.”

SHOULDER KISS

okay so it might not seem like it, but dream LOVES a couple of shoulder kisses here and then. especially if he had a bad day or is just feeling kinda down. it warms his heart when he receives them from you, and would definitely give them to you as well. I do imagine him liking receiving them more than giving, though.

you averted your eyes from your phone and up to your boyfriend, widening at the sight before you. there stood your 6′3 boyfriend, hair wet and curly from the shower he took, droplets of water falling onto the bare skin of his chest, until reaching the towel hanging on by a thread on his hips. it was impossible for you to look away when he just walked in here from the bathroom like nobody’s business, looking like THAT.

a smirk appeared on his face as he watched you stare at him with your mouth agape, using a second and smaller towel to gently crunch the ends of his hair. walking towards your spot on the bed, his eyes met yours with a hint of mischief in them. then, a warm finger hooked under your chin, thumb brushing slightly against your bottom lip,

“you should close your mouth,” he said, gluing your lips together with a single hand movement. “you might catch flies.”

you could feel your cheeks flush in embarrassment, and therefore hit his hand away from you, giving him a pout. he laughed and crawled over you to his side of the bed, plopping onto his back and resting his head on his arms crossed behind his head. “shut up! I was just…” he raised an eyebrow at you, waiting for you to continue, a lock of wet hair popping out from behind his ear. “it’s not my fault you look like that.”

that made him laugh. he leaned over, cupping your cheek in his hand and kissing it. “you're cute when you're blushing.”

you rolled your eyes at him and crossed your arms over your chest stubbornly, before stepping out of the bed. “well, now that you're done messing around, I’m gonna get ready for bed,” you tutted, walking into the bathroom. he chuckled to himself, grabbing his phone from the nightstand to check twitter.

it only took about 10 minutes before you were back again, walking out to the sight of your boyfriend rolling his shoulders back uncomfortably, a look of pain on his face. immediately your face dropped, worried that something might've happened to him in the literal 10 MINUTES you were gone in. you swore, he was just like a kid.

“what’s wrong?” you asked, standing by the edge of the bed frame. you watched him hide the painful look on his face, a crooked smile appearing on his face. you raised your eyebrow for him to go on, parting your lips.

“oh, nothing… my back has just been aching a lot today.” by the look on your face, he knew exactly what you were about to do. “I’m sure it’s gone by tomorrow!”

“lay on your stomach,” you ordered, rolling up the sleeves of your pyjamas and moving over to his side of the bed. he huffed but did as you said, rolling onto his stomach with his arms laying flat by his side.

you climbed over him, straddling his hips and analysing what you had to work with. you pressed a hand against the skin between his shoulder blades, moving two fingers along his spine, applying pressure as you went.

“really, can't we just go to bed- ah!” you smirked slightly, being careful with pressing down onto the spot that was aching right as you found it.

“sorry, baby. but you're not going anywhere before I’m done here.” you licked your lips as you eased up the skin on his back, being extra cautious of the areas in which he would wince whenever you pressed down even just slightly. “it’s that stupid chair, I’m telling you. you should really get a new one - that’s what’s been destroying your back like this!”

he let out a sigh, closing his eyes and just enjoying the relief he felt as you caressed and massaged his skin. “I know… I’ll buy one soon.” you nodded, though he couldn't see that. leaning down, you pressed soft and pillowy kisses onto his shoulders, being aware of not pressing your weight onto him too much.

“tomorrow,” you said, massaging his shoulders and neck and leaving kisses behind wherever you had eased up his skin.

“tomorrow.”

BITE KISS

okay, so this one is obviously mostly for special occasions, but god does this man love a good ol’ bite in his kiss. he is probably the one to initiate it the most (because he usually likes being the one in control), but would find it very sexy if you did it to him as well. and don't be shy to really bite down - he sure isn't! he loves a bit of roughness and edge ;)

“I still can't get over how good that pasta was! it was just like - a dream” you laughed, stepping inside of his apartment once he’d unlocked it, kicking off your high heels and letting your bag fall onto the floor in the hallway.

“ha ha ha, real funny,” he mocked, locking the door behind him as he entered after you. you giggled at him and peeled off your jacket, before hanging it onto the coat hanger. “but I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

you smiled, helping him out of his coat and appreciating the nice smell of his cologne as you neared him. “yeah, well, I don't think the food was the best part of tonight.” he cocked an eyebrow at you, showing his teeth off in a proud grin. “in fact, the night isn't over yet…”

he placed his hands on your hips, feeling the satin fabric move beneath his fingertips as he pulled you towards him. “you're definitely onto something,” he muttered. he stepped forward, making you step backwards until you were pushed fully against the wall of the dark hallway. the shine of the door light reflected onto his green orbs, the twinkles in them making your knees grow weak.

you could feel the heat of his clothes pressing into yours, bodies fitting together perfectly, and his hot breath fanning against your lips as you got closer. he pushed a knee between your legs, making you gasp at the feeling, caught off guard at the sudden motion. he took this opportunity to press his lips against yours, mouth opening up against yours. you rested the palms of your hands against his chest, his tuxedo feeling hot and damp under your fingers.

one of his hands trailed from your hip and onto your behind, pressing your body further into the depth of his and giving it a small squeeze while his hand was there. you hummed in approval, nose pressing against his as he angled his head to the right slightly, deepening the kiss further.

you were displeased when he pulled away to catch his breath, only to appear more satisfied once he moved his kisses onto your neck. he captured a piece of flesh between his teeth, nibbling, and then leaving a gentle kiss onto the spot he’d just abused. you sighed in pleasure, tilting your head back to give him more room, blonde strands of hair brushing against your chin as he continued.

needing more, you cupped his face in your hands and pressed your lips against his once again. this time he was the one to let out a hum, resting a hand on the wall right beside your head. suddenly, you felt a sharp string in your bottom lip, opening your eyes to stare right into his, watching as he pulled your lip towards him using his teeth. you gasped once he let go and your lip popped right back into place, closing your eyes again when he took your lip into his mouth to heal the wound by sucking gently on it.

he smirked at your reaction, taking this moment of weakness to grip onto your thighs and pushing you upwards as a sign for you to jump. you caught on to what he wanted, jumping into his arms as you moved towards the bedroom...

this wasn’t uncommon between the two of you.

you were always holding hands wherever you went, always touching, and always flirting.

“hi everyone! i’m y/n, a forward for manchester united, which you probably knew already, but i’m going to be taking over this account with jackie today!”

after a little pause you continue in a whisper.

“i’m getting ready to go on a run right now, trying to be a little quieter because a certain midfielder is still fast asleep.”

“she snores too,” you added quietly with a giggle. “but i’ll be back in a bit guys!”

jackie would get you back for that later.

you got back from your run about half an hour later, with the midfielder still asleep.

changing out of your running clothes, you made a quick breakfast and some coffee for the two of you, and opened the account again.

you prop your phone up in front of you and begin recording.

“so i just got back from my run, made some breakfast, and guess who’s still asleep.”

you point towards the door behind you.

“hint it’s jackie. i even made her breakfast too. i think i should get like a “best friend in the world” award or something. i’m way too good of a friend to her. anyways that’s it for now, i’ll update you if sleeping beauty ever wakes. bye!”

you finished your breakfast while scrolling through twitter, smiling when you see some of the fans freaking out over the prospect of the two of you quarantining together.

after a little bit you heard the door behind you open, looking up to see a very sleepy (and frankly very cute) jackie groenen in it’s place.

your heart fluttered in your chest.

“coffee?” you offer, grinning at the enthusiastic nod that jackie gave you.

jackie’s cheeks flushed a little when she looked around.

“you made me breakfast?”

“well since someone slept in of course i did.”

the midfielder rolled her eyes and smiled, giving you a quick kiss on the cheek before she walked over to the counter.

you felt like you were going to pass out.

if jackie noticed your shallow breathing and flushed cheeks, she didn’t comment.

“have you recorded anything yet?”

you nod, taking out your phone to show her the account.

she pauses for a moment before propping the phone up in front and starts recording.

“hi guys! i hope y/n didn’t bore you too much this morning-”

you cut her off with a gasp.

“me?! i’m obviously the fun one here! she-ow!’

jackie interrupted you with a punch.

you pouted, rubbing your shoulder.

“see she bullies me too.”

“oh she’s so dramatic,” jackie says while rolling her eyes.

the two of you get so preoccupied with bickering that you forget all about the video.

it’s only when you turn a little bit when you notice.

“damn the fans are gonna get the jackie-y/n quarreling special today.”

jackie snorts at that, deciding to post the 2 minute video with the label you had so lovingly created.

the story post read:

“an early christmas present for the muwfc fans; featuring a 2 minute jackie-y/n quarreling special”

followed by a post that read:

“we’ll be going live in around an hour so make up some good questions for us!”

while you were posting those, you missed the loving smile and stare from the girl next to you.

you grinned when you saw the next question.

“has jackie found out about your post from this morning yet?”

jackie turned to look at you, her eyes narrowing.

“what did you say?”

“hmmm nothing nothing”

“no what- tell me!”

you pretended to think for a moment before answering:

“hmmm nope”

you let out a squeak of surprise when jackie’s fingers suddenly dug into your sides.

“fine! fine! i’ll tell you!” you relent, your chest heaving slightly.

“i just said that you snore is all,” you answered quickly.

jackie gasped loudly.

“i do not!”

“yes she does she-“

your sentence gets cut off when jackie pulls you into a headlock.

“you can’t silence me! jackie snores li-“

she slapped a hand over your mouth.

“okay anyways. let’s keep goin-ew y/n!”

jackie pulled her hand back with a grimace, you smiling triumphantly.

“she licked me,” jackie whined, wiping her hand on your shirt.

a few seconds later her hand settled on your thigh, and you swore you saw her smirk when you inhaled sharply.

a little flustered, you cleared your throat quickly before turning to the screen, noting the incoming flurry of comments about how cute the two of you are together.

jackie read the next question.

“are you guys dating?”

she gave the camera a wink when she said:

“y/n wishes.”

you rolled your eyes.

“we all know you want to. i mean who wouldn’t want to date me? i’m just the hottest person you’ve ever seen and-”

“oh and she’s cocky too,” jackie added with a grin, letting out a laugh at your expression.

you turn back to screen in time to catch another question.

“can jackie play something for us?”

jackie excitedly answered a “yes”, before standing up to grab her guitar.

you shuffled over to the other side of the couch when jackie got back.

here you sat watching the midfielder talk animatedly about her song choice.

you didn’t hear much of it, instead getting lost staring at the dutch girl, her smile wide and eyes sparkling.

“y/n what do you think?”

it snaps you out of your daze.

an “i think you’re beautiful” flashed through your mind, but what came out was:

“uh i-sorry what?”

jackie giggled.

“i’ll take that as a yes then.”

a soft guitar melody filled the air a few seconds after.

this was going to be a disaster.

when jackie started singing you promptly forgot how to breathe.

you could feel your heart racing in your chest, butterflies exploding in your stomach.

her voice filled the air, and her presence was absolutely intoxicating.

strikingly blue eyes met yours during the chorus, and when she smiled softly you seriously felt like you were going to pass out.

and i wish we didn’t say goodbye

cause we’re just standing still

and i don’t really know what tomorrow holds

your heart was threatening to explode, and the three words you’ve kept buried for so long were beginning to make their way out from the back of your mind.

you didn’t know if you could make it to the end of the song.

you didn’t know if you could not tell her.

but i’ve finally realized

if this is our last goodbye until we’re gone

who cares about the wrongs we’ve caused ourselves

cause i don’t want to watch the world end with someone else

it didn’t help that jackie kept smiling at you, her eyes locking with yours and making your brain and heart go into overdrive.

it didn’t help that jackie was just so utterly attractive.

no, it didn’t help at all.

while the two of you were off in your own little world, the fans were going crazy, many picking up on the loving glances the two of you exchanged.

the livestream ended not long after the song did.

and when it did you were torn.

do you keep it to yourself?

or do you risk it all for the measly hope that by some miracle she liked you back?

your heart preferred the second.

and in a game of internal tug o war, your heart won.

“jackie.”

the midfielder whipped around to face you.

fuck she’s pretty.

“i’m-“

fuck.

the words were sitting right on the tip of your tongue.

“i-“

jackie gave you a confused expression.

“you’re what?”

“i forgot to tell you that uhm-“

fuck the words. the words were right there. just say them.

jackie tilted her head to the side, puzzled.

“you forgot to tell me what?”

you cursed at her internally for being so cute.

“i-“

you gulped.

you can do this.

its just three words. three-

“i didn’t do the laundry.”

fuck.

jackie’s puzzled expression turns into a teasing one.

“that’s what you were so nervous to tell me? come on i’m not that scary am i?”

you shook your head, cheeks flushed in embarrassment.

“hey look, we can do it together then,” jackie said with a smile, grabbing your hand and pulling you towards the room.

shit.

this turned out to be way harder than you thought.

you had tried, multiple times on multiple occasions.

your tongue however, wouldn’t let you.

each and every time you failed, coming up with the strangest excuses for your bumbling.

you’re pretty sure you accidentally said that you forgot to fold the dishes once.

jackie just thought it was cute.

though your relationship didn’t change much, you did notice a persistent blush on the midfielder’s cheeks whenever you held her hand.

you didn’t comment on it though.

jackie’s sitting next to you on the tiny kitchen counter.

the two of you are having dinner, having just come back from training, bickering about soccer (or as jackie called it, “football”) and how she missed her shot last game.

which was ironic because being this close to the midfielder made you feel like you were missing your shots.

“oh come on it wasn’t like i was trying to miss!”

“could’ve fooled me,” you laugh, jackie gasping in offense.

“like you could’ve done any better.”

“yes i could! in fact i have a higher shooting accuracy than-“

“oh come on that was based off of our shots from like ages ago!”

you smile at jackie’s indignant outcry.

“i’m just better at soccer than you,” you tease.

jackie stops talking.

you’re cut off from your rambling when jackie launches herself at you.

you’re frozen, with jackie hugging you tightly, unsure of what it meant, whether she hated you or not.

then.

a whisper so quiet you almost don’t hear it.

“i love you too.”

you almost fall off the counter.

you look at her with wide eyes, your heartbeat in your ears, worried that you might have heard her wrong.

“you-what?”

jackie pulls back to look at you.

fuck she’s so gorgeous.

“i said i love you too,” she whispers, looking down and looking almost the tiniest bit shy.

god you want to kiss her.

“do it then,” jackie challenges.

your ears heat up a tiny bit, realizing you said that aloud.

“are-are you sure?”

she nodded, and upon seeing your hesitation just decided to do it herself.

she tilts your head up by your chin and all of a sudden your mind goes blank.

everyone always talks about how the perfect kiss feels like fireworks, but you didn’t feel that here.

instead you felt like you were floating, with only the girl in your lap keeping you grounded.

one of jackie’s hands was on your cheek, another tracing on the back of your neck, and you felt weightless.

she broke the kiss after a while.

your heart was pounding so hard it was a miracle you were still alive.

the two of you sat quietly for a while, jackie on your lap with her head against your chest, until she broke the silence.

“that song was about you if you didn’t know.”

your heart fluttered again. the things she did to you.

“really?”

jackie nodded.

she looked up and before she kissed you she whispered:

“you’re the only one i’d want to watch the world end with.”

Full disclosure here folks, I am not the person behind the apple account that is Outting #Noodles/#Ice/#FlamedAce/#Irrevocably/#DiamondDestiny/#Seraphim/ or whatever else she is calling herself these days. I have a long history with this person and have blocked her from my life after the last garbage she pulled. I have ignored her, and in fact haven’t even thought about her until this started up again and I was followed by the Apple account. I have not hardly been online due to living RL and raising my child to the best of my ability. Which is always my number one priority. Anything I do online is when she is in school or after she goes to bed at night. I also take care of my elderly mom who lives with me and dealing with my own disability makes my plate extremely full. Even my own RPG sits without much action because of my busy RL. I just dont have time to be here. Also my muse suffers due to being tired all the time and it is what it is. I have been accused of many things on twitter over the years and a few things were true, but most all are not. Most are made up by the very person who is being outted this very day. I have not changed my tag or anything. I just move on from it and add it to experience. When someone changes their tag as much as Vicci does, it’s because they’re hiding from past mistakes. I can understand this to a point, people can be brutal when it comes to bullying others for mistakes made, however when you have to do this constantly, its because of deception, not anything else. When you apologize for something you did wrong, you own it! You don’t then turn around and delete the apology, lock your account and change everything to hide behind a “new start”! Because its as if you never apologized to begin with! So the person you wronged doesn’t feel as if you even cared about what you did since you just delete it right afterwards. There is zero accountability in that. Like I have said, I have a long history with this woman and it took many years and several people coming to me in DMs to show me exactly what she was doing. She had me doing things that were out of the norm for my personality just because of her manipulative ways. Things I regret to this day, however since I have moved on and away from her, my life has been pretty peaceful. Also I might add, her threats of going to the police are hilarious. Because I know from first hand research that she would have to come here to America, to the state of the person who is “Bullying” her, and lodge a report there! Then she would have to stick around for anything like court and such. Which I highly doubt she can afford! Its how it works, and since America has much more important crimes to deal with right now, I doubt they would get to anything like this over factual accusations that can be proved by witnesses and screenshots. Just because your feelings get hurt by the truth, doesn’t mean it will be considered a crime now days. Now this is the last Ill post on this whole situation. I will block anyone who comes at me in retaliation for speaking the truth! I know she has a habit of sending others to “fight for her”! She usually sits back and stays quiet while everyone around her is in chaos. Well I wont bite the bait. If anyone attacks me, for sharing my experience with this woman, well they can pound sand! What Will Segregated Society Look Like for the Unvaxxed?

In 2020, the proposition that COVID-19 countermeasures would come to include forced vaccination and vaccine passports, resulting in a segregated society where only those participating in the COVID injection experiment have human rights, was labeled a wild conspiracy theory unworthy of discussion.

Fast-forward to August 2, 2021, and Forbes announces, “No Vax, No Service: Here’s Where Bars and Restaurants Across U.S. Are Requiring Proof of Vaccination.”1

No Jab, No Dining

According to Forbes,2 high-profile restaurant chains like Shake Shack and Union Square Hospitality are leading the way, requiring all staff and indoor diners in New York City and Washington D.C. to prove they’ve received the required doses of COVID-19 injections, starting September 7, 2021.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio hailed the decision, saying others will follow — and indeed, they did, with de Blasio himself announcing August 3, 2021, that proof of vaccination will be mandatory for all indoor dining, visiting gyms and going to movie theaters in the city:3

“This is a miraculous place literally full of wonders,” Mr. de Blasio said. “If you’re vaccinated, all that’s going to open up to you. But if you’re unvaccinated, unfortunately you will not be able to participate in many things.”

Several New York City eateries were already checking vaccination status, and during the last week of July 2021, the San Francisco Bar Owners Alliance urged its 300 members to require proof of COVID-19 injection or a negative COVID test for patrons wanting to have a drink indoors.

Several Los Angeles restaurants, bars and comedy clubs are also following suit, as are more than 60 establishments in Seattle. Vaccinated-only restaurants have also popped up in Oakland, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta, Boulder, St. Louis and New Orleans.

Since COVID countermeasures are a global lockstep operation,4 the same segregation trend is emerging in other countries as well. On the other hand, in Florida, where I live, businesses are prohibited by law5,6 from requiring customers to show proof of participation in the COVID jab experiment.

No Jab, No Job

A growing number of private companies are also requiring workers to participate in human medical experimentation or forfeit their job. As reported by Axios,7 this includes Facebook, Google, Twitter, Lyft, Uber, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Washington Post, BlackRock, Ascension Health, Netflix, Walmart, the Walt Disney Corporation and Morgan Stanley.

As mentioned, Florida prohibits businesses from requiring customers to provide proof of COVID “vaccination,” but it does not bar companies from mandating vaccination for its employees.

For now, Disney’s jab mandate only pertains to salaried and nonunion hourly employees, but according to Yahoo! News,8 Disney is in negotiations with union officials who represent theme park employees and members of its movie and TV production crews. The goal is to extend the vaccine mandate to union employees as well.

In May 2021, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission decreed that it is legal for companies to require employees to get the COVID shots.9 This despite the fact that the four available COVID injections are only authorized for emergency use and are as yet unlicensed.10 Testing is not expected to conclude for another two years.

No Jab, No Business

Private companies also have the right to not mandate COVID shots, of course, but standing up for workers’ right to choose could hamper their ability to conduct business at all, as PayPal is now vowing to block transactions and cancel accounts held by “extremists” and anyone endangering “at-risk communities,”11 which could include just about anything at this point.

Seeing how the White House is promoting the idea that people who question the safety and effectiveness of COVID shots are “killing people” and the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) labels anti-vaccine rhetoric as a form of hate speech, is it a stretch to suspect PayPal will start taking down the accounts of so-called “anti-vaxxers”?

Business owners and self-employed entrepreneurs who speak out against other official narratives probably face the same risk. Venture capitalist David Sacks recently commented on the situation:12

“When I helped create PayPal in 1999, it was in furtherance of a revolutionary idea. No longer would ordinary people be dependent on large financial institutions to start a business …

But now PayPal is turning its back on its original mission. It is now leading the charge to restrict participation by those it deems unworthy … [W]e are talking about … shutting down people and organizations that express views that are entirely lawful …

If history is any guide, other fintech companies will soon follow suit … When … your name lands on a No-Buy List created by a consortium of private fintech companies, to whom can you appeal?

As for the notion of building your own PayPal or Facebook: because of their gigantic network effects and economies of scale, there is no viable alternative when the whole industry works together to deny you access.

Kicking people off social media deprives them of the right to speak in our increasingly online world. Locking them out of the financial economy is worse: It deprives them of the right to make a living.

We have seen how cancel culture can obliterate one’s ability to earn an income, but now the cancelled may find themselves without a way to pay for goods and services.

Previously, cancelled employees who would never again have the opportunity to work for a Fortune 500 company at least had the option to go into business for themselves. But if they cannot purchase equipment, pay employees, or receive payment from clients and customers, that door closes on them, too.”

If this trend continues, which it probably will, might people who question COVID shots and/or refuse to participate in human experimentation be barred from having a credit card or a bank account?

No Jab, No Food

Some are promoting even more severe punishment for the unvaccinated. Yet, it’s not enough for some thought leaders that unvaccinated individuals can’t enter a bar or restaurant, and might lose their ability to send or receive money for goods and services using PayPal (and potentially other digital transaction services).

For example, CNN anchor Don Lemon recently suggested unvaccinated people ought to be barred from buying food and have their driver’s license taken away.13,14

I’d like you to conduct a thought experiment, and think this through from start to finish. What would your life be like if you were:

Barred from driving

Barred from working and earning a paycheck

Barred from sending or receiving money online

Barred from having a bank account and credit card

Barred from eating food at a restaurant (assuming you somehow got the cash to pay for it)

Barred from buying food in a grocery store (again, assuming you somehow got the cash to pay for it)

Are Lemon and countless others actually saying it is acceptable to make half the U.S. population homeless and starve them to death in order to, theoretically, prevent the spread of an infection that, so far, has had a 99.74% survival rate?15

Mob Morality

To understand what’s really happening and what Lemon’s rhetoric is accomplishing, I highly recommend reading Charles Eisenstein’s article “Mob Morality and the Unvaxxed.” It’s an excellent and thought-provoking piece. Here’s a few chosen excerpts:16

“We would like to think that modern societies like ours have outgrown barbaric customs like human sacrifice … we don’t actually kill people in hopes of placating the gods and restoring order. Or do we? …

Not just any victim will do as an object of human sacrifice. Victims must be, as [legal scholar Roberta] Harding puts it, ‘in, but not of, the society.’ That is why, during the Black Death, mobs roamed about murdering Jews for ‘poisoning the wells.’

The entire Jewish population of Basel was burned alive, a scene repeated throughout Western Europe. Yet this was not mainly the result of preexisting virulent hatred of Jews waiting for an excuse to erupt; it was that victims were needed to release social tension, and hatred, an instrument of that release, coalesced opportunistically on the Jews ...

‘Combatting hatred’ is combatting a symptom. Scapegoats needn’t be guilty, but they must be marginal, outcasts, heretics, taboo-breakers, or infidels of one kind or another … If they are not already marginal, they must be made so …

[D]efying left-right categorization is a promising new scapegoat class, the heretics of our time: the anti-vaxxers. As a readily identifiable subpopulation, they are ideal candidates for scapegoating. It matters little whether any of these pose a real threat to society … their guilt is irrelevant to the project of restoring order through blood sacrifice …

All that is necessary is that the dehumanized class arouse the blind indignation and rage necessary to incite a paroxysm of unifying violence. More relevant to current times, this primal mob energy can be harnessed toward fascistic political ends …

Sacrificial subjects carry an association of pollution or contagion; their removal thus cleanses society. I know people in the alternative health field who are considered so unclean that if I so much as mention their names in a Tweet or Facebook post, the post may be deleted …

The public’s ready acceptance of such blatant censorship cannot be explained solely in terms of its believing the pretext of ‘controlling misinformation.’ Unconsciously, the public recognizes and conforms to the age-old program of investing a pariah subclass with the symbology of pollution …

This program is well underway toward the Covid-unvaxxed, who are being portrayed as walking cesspools of germs who might contaminate the Sanctified Brethren (the vaccinated).

My wife perused an acupuncture Facebook page today … where someone asked, ‘What is the word that comes to mind to describe unvaccinated people?’ The responses were things like ‘filth,’ ‘assholes,’ and ‘death-eaters.’ This is precisely the dehumanization necessary to prepare a class of people for cleansing …

To prepare someone for removal as the repository of all that is evil, it helps to heap upon them every imaginable calumny. Thus we hear in mainstream publications that anti-vaxxers not only are killing people, but are raging narcissists … and tantamount to domestic terrorists.”

Dangerous Territory Ahead

If deep down in your gut you sense that we’re speeding into dangerous territory, you’re probably right. The “vaccinated” public are actively encouraged and manipulated both by media and government officials into literally despising and wishing death upon the unvaccinated, and this is indeed a very dangerous thing. It breeds mob mentality devoid of reason and logic, which can have tragic consequences.

“Why is fascism so commonly associated with genocide, when as a political philosophy it is about unity, nationalism, and the merger of corporate and state power?” Eisenstein asks.17

“It is because it needs a unifying force powerful enough to sweep aside all resistance. The us of fascism requires a them. The civic-minded moral majority participates willingly, assured that it is for the greater good. Something must be done. The doubters go along too, for their own safety.

No wonder today’s authoritarian institutions know, as if instinctively, to whip up hysteria toward the … unvaccinated. Fascism taps into, exploits, and institutionalizes a deeper instinct.

The practice of creating dehumanized classes of people and then murdering them is older than history … The campaign against the unvaccinated, garbed in the white lab coat of Science, munitioned with biased data, and waving the pennant of altruism, channels a brutal, ancient impulse.”

The Constitution still offers some measure of protection in the United States, but it may be naïve to assume it will be adhered to in the long term unless we the people demand it. In Australia, military are now roaming the streets of Sydney to make sure no one strays beyond their front door, as the country has implemented one of its strictest lockdowns yet.18

Fanning the flames of anger and hatred, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has stated that vaccinated Australians might be able to regain some of their mobility once the vaccination rate reaches 70%, and broad lockdowns may be avoidable altogether if the vaccination rate hits 80%.

"If you get vaccinated, there will be special rules that apply to you,” Morrison told reporters. “Why? Because if you're vaccinated, you present less of a public health risk.”

A rational person might question whether Morrison would actually hold true to his word. A person blinded by anger probably won’t, but will instead direct their frustration onto the holdouts that prevent the vaccination rate from reaching that magical threshold where they believe freedom will be restored.

Robotics;Notes Elite review

Robotics;Notes, the third visual novel in the Science Adventure series, is by far the most unfortunate entry in the series. Not only is it the follow up to Steins;Gate, one of the most acclaimed and popular visual novels ever released, something that even extends to its anime adaptation, but it had to wait until 2020, 8 years after its release in 2012, to be translated into English, well after every other main entry in the series besides Chaos;Head, with its anime adaptation being the only way to experience it beforehand, and while said anime is a decent watch in its own right, it definitely accentuates the source material’s problems, while adding several more. Needless to say, Robotics;Notes had a lot of things going against it when it was finally released, most of which weren’t even its own fault, and it can definitely come off as an underwhelming entry just from that. However, today, we’ll be putting aside all those external factors and take a fair look at the VN itself, and how it holds up on its own. The version I played was the Steam version, using the Committee of Zero patch, a fan made patch that, among other things, fixes many issues with the translation, and is absolutely the recommended way to experience the VN.

Kaito Yashio is a student of Chuo Tanegashima High, and one of the two members of its Robotics Research Club. The president of the club, Akiho Senomiya, Kaito’s friend since childhood, and little sister of the club’s founder, Misaki Senomiya, is completely committed to completing GunBuild-1, a lifesize recreation of the titular mecha from the extremely popular anime Gunvarrel, and a project the club has been working on since its creation. Unfortunately for Akiho, everything seems determined to see her efforts be in vain. The club gets no funding, and is seen as a laughingstock among the students, its advisor, Mitsuhiko “Mitchie” Nagafukada, is completely irresponsible and rarely does anything of help, and Kaito is completely apathetic to anything that isn’t KillBallad, a mobile fighting game he’s determined to become the top player in the world in. While the club soon manages to gain three new members, namely Subaru Hidaka, an expert in robotics whose knowledge far surpasses Akiho’s, Junna Daitoku, a former member of the karate club, and Kona Furugoori, aka Frau Koujiro, the teenage creator of KillBallad, their personalities are just as difficult: Subaru sees the project as a lost cause, and refuses to help with it without a compromise, Junna is painfully shy and has a fear of robots, and Frau is a complete shut in and social mess, being completely perverted and mostly talking in outdated slang, which keeps most people from even understanding her. Despite all this, Akiho’s unrelenting passion for mechas, and desire to step out of her sister’s shadow, compel her to continue on.

Meanwhile, Kaito one day encounters Airi, an AI that exists within the augmented reality app IRUO, along with a strange AR annotation called the Kimijima Report, authored by Airi’s deceased creator, Kou Kimijima. Within it are warnings of a grand conspiracy that aims to devastate humanity, the details of which are contained in similar reports hidden all over Tanegashima, locked behind “flags” that must be cleared before they become visible. Though at first skeptical, it soon becomes clear to Kaito that the reports contain a disturbing amount of truths, and that he’s become involved in something far larger, and far more dangerous, than he bargained for.

I’ll say it now, the story’s focus on both of these plotlines causes a number of noticeable issues, mainly due to feeling very disconnected from each other. While all of the main cast except Airi are heavily involved in the Robotics Club plot, only Kaito, Airi, and to a much lesser extent Frau are involved in the Kimijima Report plot, in comparison to, say, Steins;Gate and Chaos;Child, which tied its whole cast into their stories much better. In addition, the majority of the focus is on the club, and though always interesting, the reports tend to go rather uneventfully as well. Due to this, the story can feel very slow and meandering if you don’t know just what you’re getting into, much more so than the other entries in the series, which can definitely make it seem unappealing. Additionally, the story is much less standalone than most SciAdv VNs, where the references are often minor. Here, there are some rather significant references to Chaos;Head and, to a lesser extent, Steins;Gate, to the point of outright spoilers in a few cases, meaning going through those beforehand is heavily recommended, which is especially annoying when Chaos;Head still has no official translation, and only a fan translation for the incomplete PC version.

Despite all of this, both plotlines are actually quite compelling, once you get used to the game’s pacing. Robotics;Notes’ biggest strength is its absolutely great cast of characters. Everyone in the main cast is very likeable, distinctive, and well developed across the story, and have good dynamics with each other, with Kaito and Akiho’s interactions being some of the biggest highlights of the game, with the end result making everyone feel significant in their own ways, and truly feeling like a unified group, something Chaos;Head and even Steins;Gate struggled with at times. Kaito, who initially comes off as a very motivationless character, has a good amount of backstory and a constant, if subtle, arc throughout the game that makes him properly fleshed out. Subaru, who’d normally just be the token other guy, is a prominent and likeable character in his own right, having a very important role in Gunbuild’s construction, while Frau, who initially just comes off as comic relief, has many great moments throughout the story, with her focus chapter in particular being one of the best in the game. Even Airi has quite a bit more to her than it may seem. The cast is definitely a worthy successor to the cast of Steins;Gate, even more so than Chaos;Child’s, I would say.

The cast also heavily ties into one of the main themes of the game, namely dreams, the harsh difficulties and compromises one faces in pursuing their dreams, and how losing one can change a person. All of them face this, with varying amounts of focus, and it’s a theme furthered with the prominence of robots throughout the game, both the idealized kind found in mecha anime, and the real, practical robots of the real world. There’s an almost exhaustive amount of detail put into the construction and function of real robots, which makes for some interesting, if sometimes long winded, discussions throughout the game, in true SciAdv fashion.

While the story is mainly told through Kaito’s perspective, it switches fairly often to other characters, most often Akiho. While the rest of the series except for Steins;Gate does this as well, it’s notable here for giving almost every character, even the supporting cast, at least one scene from their perspective, often focused on their own personal dilemmas, or flashbacks involving Misaki. These perspective switches make a nice change of pace, and definitely help flesh out the characters even further. On the subject of the supporting cast, while most other entries either have supporting casts that are very inconsequential, such as in Chaos;Child, or almost nonexistent, such as in Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes, on the other hand, has a much more prominent and fleshed out supporting cast. From Mizuki Irei, the harsh and snarky convenience store employee, and info broker to Kaito, to Tetsuharu Fujita, the grumpy but fair “Robot Doctor”, to Mitchie, the horribly unreliable, yet entertaining club advisor, they certainly leave much more of a mark than usual. The most interesting of all, though, is a 20 year old Nae Tennouji, originally a very minor character in Steins;Gate. She has an almost surprising amount of prominence throughout the game, and even has her own ending, if a very short one.

Compared to most other entries in the series, Robotics;Notes definitely carries a much lighter tone. Tanegashima makes for a very relaxed setting, and as mentioned, there aren’t quite as many big events as one might expect. The characters are generally pretty lighthearted in personality as well, up to Kaito not being nearly as unlikeable to start off as other SciAdv protagonists. However, the tone works quite well, and helps slowly endear the characters to you even early on. And while it’s not quite as messed up as, say, Chaos;Head, it’s got more than a few disturbing elements and scenes of its own. Ultimately, it has the same “feel” as the rest of the series, and when it wants to be intense, suspenseful, sad, or whatever else, it absolutely works, especially from chapter 7 onward.

As far as “gameplay” goes, there’s a surprisingly large amount of interactivity available. At most moments during the story, Kaito can pull out his tablet and access its various apps. Most prominently, there’s Twipo, an obvious lawyer friendly version of Twitter, where Kaito can look at tweets from the Robotics Club, its associates, and even random accounts commenting on current events, with Kaito having the option to reply to those of the Robotics Club. There’s also IRUO, the augmented reality app, which lets the player look around the area and scan geotags, which contain small profiles for characters, or details for locations or objects. IRUO is also used along with a map app to search for the Kimijima Reports, letting you travel to various different locations on Tanegashima to search. It’s a neat concept, but the icons for the reports are so small, and so many locations tend to be available at one time, that finding them can often just be annoying. There’s also, of all things, the otherwise story reliant KillBallad matches, where you have to successfully input a string of buttons, the length of which varies depending on the opponent’s skill, within a time limit in order to win. Most of the time it doesn’t matter, but there are achievements and even story sequences reliant on winning or losing certain matches. All in all, these make for nice occasional changes of pace, but it’s still a visual novel in the end.

Visually, Robotics;Notes is actually quite impressive. As can be seen in the screenshots, instead of sprites, 3D character models are used instead in normal scenes, and having played Virtue’s Last Reward and Zero Time Dilemma well before this, I was more than a bit wary of them before release. Thankfully, compared to the cheap models of those two games, they’re much, much better. They’re actually very expressive, and have some great animations that give each character a lot of life. The backgrounds are also quite well done, and Tanegashima definitely makes for a unique and atmospheric setting. As usual for visual novels, there’s also CGs throughout the game, done in a different, but still appealing and well drawn style. Finally, in one of the biggest additions to Elite compared to the original version, occasionally, clips from the anime adaptation is used, mostly to better demonstrate details that were only narration originally, as far as I can tell. This blend of 3D models, CGs, and animation is a bit bizarre at first, but it works surprisingly well, and makes for one of the most visually appealing entries in the series.

As far as sound goes, Takeshi Abo is once again the composer, and once again puts out a very good soundtrack, which further captures and enhances the atmosphere. The soundtrack in general is definitely much lighter and peaceful than usual, but actually has more tracks than most of the SciAdv soundtracks, allowing it to cover many other moods as well. From the very relaxed Winds of Tangegashima, to the mysterious Uchugaoka Park, to the nostalgic Memories with Big Sis, and especially the beautiful title screen theme, Robotics Notes -2nd theme-, there’s a lot of great songs to be found. The voice acting is also very good, and the characters wouldn’t work nearly as well without it, with Ryohei Kimura as Kaito, Yoshino Nanjo as Akiho, Kaori Nazuka as Frau, and Sora Tokui as Junna especially sticking out to me.

It’s worth noting that Robotics;Notes is on the longer side when it comes to SciAdv, much like Chaos;Child. It’s hardly Fate/Stay Night, but it’ll take some time to get through. It also has a very, very weird and annoying ending system. Whereas in other titles, endings are, just that, actual endings you can diverge into somewhere in the story, Robotics;Notes’ endings are actually just regular chapters that are part of the main story, which just happen to focus on different parts of the cast. The divergence happens in chapter 5, and depends on your replies to said characters on Twipo in both that chapter and the preceding one, with you instead going to the short Nae ending if you don’t fulfill the requirements for any of them. While Steins;Gate had a similar system, and was annoying in of itself, Robotics;Notes takes it to another level by making all but the Nae ending mandatory, though said ending has some points that make it worth seeing regardless, and occurring in a specific chronological order, despite allowing you to get the endings nonlinearly, meaning you could accidentally skip from chapter 5 to chapter 8. The system overall is just unneeded, and following a guide, such as the one by the aforementioned Committee of Zero, is highly recommended.

In the end, would I recommend Robotics;Notes? To a SciAdv fan, absolutely. To someone who isn’t, well, I already explained the problems there. I can’t say its one of my favorites among the series, but by itself, it’s still something I enjoyed a lot. Despite the issues it does have, its very well done cast, visuals, sound, and overall story make it a memorable and emotional experience in its own right. Now, with yet another long VN review out of the way, I anxiously await the Committee of Zero patch for Robotics;Notes DaSH, to finally finish off my SciAdv journey, for the foreseeable future, at least. worst chefs in seoul (outline) – kim seokjin x gn!reader

➥ a/n: we’re back at it again with another wip i never finished lol. this one is the outline for what was intended to be a social media au (as evidenced by some of the notes i left for myself), though it’s likely that’s not how it actually would’ve come out. i’d love to hear some of your thoughts/reactions, and i hope you enjoy ♡

start w y/n and yoongi goofing off on twitter

the whole y/n eating a moldy grape thinking it’s a kiwi thing

and yoongi panicking bc of it

could transition into them talking about the finale episode of their favorite show: worst chefs in seoul

they’re both huge fans, and equally complete disasters when it comes to culinary skill

yoongi likes the show bc he likes the competition aspect and tbh he got addicted after y/n forced him to watch the first season w them

y/n also likes it for that reason, but the main reason they watch it is bc of a certain kim seokjin

anyway, they talk about the finale, and then yoongi says something about the next season’s ‘nominations’ coming up soon

y/n jokingly says they’re going to nominate yoongi bc of that one time he made tacos with dog food

and yoongi fires back w the time they managed to light the microwave on fire making cup o’ noodles

they agree to let each other live

…..for now

the two actually do end up nominating each other w/o the other knowing

y/n honestly just thought it would be funny if yoongi got picked and yoongi was like “fuck it why not”

little did they know…..

while the nomination guidelines assure that the selection process is completely random, this is a reality show

meaning for anyone w a brain that’s obviously not the case

contestants are actually chosen by the show’s assistant producers and approved by the chefs themselves and then the higher ups

but who are those assistant producers??

none other than park jimin and kim taehyung

neither of them keep their involvement with the show a secret, and one takes it a teensy bit more seriously than the other

anyway, they’re usually told to find a batch of contestants (that they feel) would conjure up the most drama for the show

it is tv, after all, and they have to keep people watching

and that part is crucial

to their credit, they do (somewhat) succeed for the most part

jimin selects yoongi and namjoon from the nomination pool bc he thinks joon’s clumsiness w yoongi’s nonchalant nature will work for max chaos

and taehyung chooses y/n and jungkook bc while their competitive drives are similar, y/n’s subdued nature has a big chance for conflict w jk’s out-there attitude

(how do they know all this? they’re experts at what they do leave me alone)

y/n (and yoongi, secretly) is ecstatic when they get the emails/DM/whatever that they’ve been “chosen for the next hot season of worst chefs in seoul!”

but then yoongi asks if it’s allowed for them to know each other and accept the nomination

like they’re best friends. is that going to present some kinda problem that’ll get them both kicked off??

should only one of them accept it?

(he’s immediately ready to sacrifice his own nomination bc he knows how much y/n cares about this stupid show)

y/n says they’re not going to let him do that bc they were both chosen, meaning they both should get to go

but—

“it’s fine!! we can just pretend we don’t know each other when we’re on set!”

and so they’re off

to some undisclosed location in seoul

day 0

jimin and taehyung are the first to greet everyone, collecting all four contestants together for a tour of the dorms

and y/n starts texting yoongi in a panic bc both of their dumbasses forgot that the contestants are separated into teams as soon as they arrive

yoongi prolly says smth like i’m two feet away from you why are you texting me

(y/n reminds him they can’t make it seem like they know each other)

yoongi acts like it’s not that big of a deal

prolly says there’s a good chance they’ll end up on the same team

and if they don’t they can just hang out in the dorms when the cameras are off and away

which is when jimin loudly announces that this season, each team is getting their own dormitory

and that contestants will be required to stay in their dorm while filming the season, except for approved ‘outings’ for the show

he moves on before anyone can ask what that means

they’ll be allowed to pick whichever dorm they want to stay in for the first night, since they want to get the contestants’ reactions on camera when they reveal the teams

but after they’re revealed tomorrow, it’s your dorm and your dorm only

y/n and yoongi automatically gravitate towards each other

they end up together in the ‘new’ dorm, which yoongi grumpily notes is practically bigger than their whole apartment

y/n wonders if they ended up in seokjin’s dorm, and gets excited at the thought of this being a ‘test’ to see which chef’s team they’ll be on

to which yoongi asks what makes this dorm his?

“idk i just...feel his aura in here”

“.......okay, weirdo. i’m gonna go ‘feel his aura’ in the bathroom and take a—”

“yoongi!!”

y/n can either ask what yoongi thinks of the other contestants or they can both pretty much blow them off entirely for the time being

idk which yet

day 1

next morning, the contestants are woken up bright and early by none other than our favorite assistant producers

the wake up call comes in the form of a new group chat between the six of them

along with a link to ‘download’ the calendar for the shooting schedule

(which is really an app/virus that disables certain functions on their phones)

((such as most social media and texting numbers outside their ‘parameters’))

after that’s all hashed out, jm & t explain that this group chat is for any and all notifications and updates about the show, as well as any questions and/or concerns the contestants might have

“can i just vote to eliminate myself now and go home?” and

“how do i get this fucking thing off my phone” and

“when do we find out what team we’re on??”

the answers to which are

you’ll find out when filming is finished

and right now!

they tell the contestants to get up and get dressed as their first day on set officially starts now

y/n and kook immediately jump into action and leave the gc

joon lags behind a little confused but follows the flow

yoongi, ever the people person, gets aggressive when they don’t answer his questions about their goddamn malware

“is this even legal?? are you even fucking allowed to just disable our devices like this?”

“what if there’s an emergency??”

“looks like you’ll just have to find out, huh?”

yoongi’s phone then crashes and won’t let him unlock it until the first block of filming is finished

jm: “oops ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ”

day 1 recap

we find out through our superfan what happens during the first episode

(maybe do something like this person is some kinda press/‘news’ account dedicated entirely to w.c.i.s. and the two chefs)

((mayhaps they leak the contestant list before it goes public??))

((jimin and tae could have some kinda unspoken rivalry w them lol))

anyway the story is told through them in a series of twitter threads

(plus a few messages from y/n to yoongi freaking out about the teams they get put on)

first event of the day is: the team announcements

yoongi and joon end up on team kim seokjin and y/n is on team jyp w kook

being split up puts a bit of a damper on their plans, and with this stupid cell block they don’t know if they’ll even be allowed to talk to each other

none of them get much time to react, though, as they’re then shuffled off to their respective kitchens

where they finally meet their respective chefs

and, lo and behold, y/n is goddamn terrified

jinyoung is even scarier in person than he is on tv

“don’t laugh at me yoongi!! this is the guy who made a girl sob on live television!”

“and now ur gonna be the next person what’s the problem lmao”

while y/n tries to get past their fear, they’re given their first official task: work together with their new partner to create a meal of their choice

the catch is that they aren’t allowed any help from their chef yet

and since the teams were just announced literally like 10 minutes ago, none of them have had much of a chance to get to know each other

(the network knows this, and does this on purpose since most of the seasons’ first episodes are spent either arguing or being completely lost)

things go about as well (read: badly) as expected

y/n and kook soon discover their very conflicting personalities and spend the majority of the round bickering back and forth about what to make/how to do it

meanwhile yoongi slaps a piece of sliced cheese directly on the stove while joon runs around like a chicken w its head cut off

in the end, team jyp somehow manages to come out victorious

they cobble together some (semi) edible banana milkshakes to present to the judges

(‘together’ meaning y/n wanted to make plain vanilla milkshakes and kook switched it for banana milk when they weren’t looking)

yoongi and joon tried (keyword being tried) to make grilled cheese

but between yoongi’s cheese-to-stove method and joon dropping their two pieces of burnt toast right before the timer rang

they didn’t get many points

as their reward, team jyp has the honor of picking what they’ll be making tomorrow

they’re given the rest of the day to think and talk it over while team ksj is told to reflect on what went wrong in today’s trial

back at the dorms (now in their separate teams), y/n finds that yoongi finally graces them w a response

(and that they were right about which one was ‘seokjin’s’ dorm)

yoongi tells them about ‘that little shit’ locking him out of his phone and that he honestly just wants to get tf out of there contract or not

y/n convinces him to stay and stick it out, if not for them then for the prize money at the end

yoongi then asks what dish they’re going to pick for tomorrow, and asks if they can pick something he at least has an idea how to make

cue y/n saying that they were thinking of suggesting one of seokjin’s signature dishes but not knowing if kook would go along w the idea

“he kept trying to switch out our ingredients for banana milk and i don’t know how to tell him to knock that shit off”

“honestly you know i’m not one to take charge but he wasn’t even listening to me!! what’s to say he’s actually going to listen to the PROFESSIONAL chef here to help us??”

“aNd SPeAkINg oF THaT”

cue y/n whining about how they wanted to be on jin’s team and it’s not fair that they both got stuck w jinyoung AND a bratty kid on their team

yoongi sympathizes since he was looking forward to them being on the same team, but makes y/n agree that if he has to give the competition a chance then they have to give kook one too

“i mean yeah he seems like a bit of a dumbass but isn’t that why we’re all here? bc we have no fuckin clue what to do in the kitchen?”

hmm...fine they’ll give him a chance

but they still think he’s a lil shit and don’t really wanna talk to him at all, let alone reach some kinda compromise on what to make

they don’t get much or a choice, though, as they both receive a mysterious message from...jungkook? in another group chat?

the contestants find that they have all been manually added to another gc

except this one is missing the two assistant producers who love to breathe down their necks

everyone but jk is immediately suspicious

is this some of trick to get them to screw up?

to break some kinda hidden clause in the contract none of them actually read?

wasn’t that thing they downloaded supposed to block incoming messages like this?

“but wait, yoongi, then how were we able to…?”

but as of right now, they don’t get any answers

and they’re all too afraid to ask anyone but each other

“well we’re all here so...we might as well get to know each other right?? :D”

this is where we get our first in-depth look at the four people stuck on this show together, who in their lives nominated them and why

(y/n and yoongi’s lying skills are put to a bit of a test as they each rush to pull stories right out of their asses)

kook talks about bambam and says his nomination said smth about “adding banana milk to everything f*ckin thing he makes”

he doesn’t really get why that was enough to land him a spot on the show but he thought it would be pretty cool to be on tv and just went along with it

namjoon talks about hobi and emphasizes that he’s not that bad of a cook

he just gets nervous and confused when it comes to recipes and cooking which expresses itself in the form of his unabashed clumsiness

joon then asks if they’ll really be prevented from having any outside communication until filming is finished

he, like yoongi, questions the legality of deceitfully installing the block on their phones

y/n says there probably was some kind of hidden clause that allowed them to do that, as they “can’t imagine seokjin would take part in a competition that abuses its contestants”

to which joon replies that they don’t actually know seokjin so they can’t really ‘imagine’ anything about how he will or won’t act

right as yoongi is about to jump in and tell him to back off, jungkook decides that that’s way too much legal talk for him

he forces changes the subject back to the gc as a whole and says that even if they’re prevented from talking to their friends he’s happy they’ll “at least have each other :D”

y/n feels like part of that is directed at them and feels bad for how they thought he was ‘just a dumb kid’ before

namjoon, however, is still hesitant

he’s not sure if this chat could get them in trouble in regards to the show and their contract and what not and says that they all should probably delete it just to be safe

but that is unanimously vetoed by y/n and kook (and yoongi, reluctantly) and they decide that if the block allowed it to pass through then it must be allowed

before joon can argue anymore, they all receive a message from tae in the ‘official’ gc

he briefly explains the lights out policy of the dorms and tells them that they’re probably going to want a good night's sleep for their ‘big day’ tomorrow

yoongi then says smth like “well...guess that’s lights out then” and jk responds excited as ever w “night guys!! see you all in the morning! :)”

and y/n can feel their soul leaving their body for even thinking anything ill about him

day 2

contestants are woken up bright and early by alarms they didn’t set

(“oh great, so they just hijacked every app on our fucking phones then”

jimin tells them all to hurry up, get dressed, and meet the chauffeur outside bc they can’t afford to be late

(“literally! every second you waste is money docked from the network’s wallet! so get your asses in gear, guppies!”)

y/n and kook get outside first, but yoongi and joon are nowhere to be seen

y/n decides to text the q & a gc to get the dirt on seokjin

they kinda start sucking up to jimin and tae to see if they’ll reveal any info, particularly about what the chef is like and if it’s possible for him to talk to the ‘other’ team’s contestants

and while the producers are pleasantly surprised that one of the contestants actually want to use that gc for something other than yelling at them

they unfortunately can’t give much info besides what most people already know

and confirm that one of the chefs talking to the other’s students was probably not allowed, but that it’s also never really happened before so they’re not really sure lmao

(“taehyung!!” “what? was i not supposed to say that?”)

jimin cuts the conversation short there as yoongi and joon arrive and they all get on the shuttle for the set

taehyung does say one last thing tho

“good luck!! hopefully they don’t tear u up too bad!”

but first

our superfan gives us the downlow on the competition and how it works

after being split into teams, the contestants will rotate between ‘training’ w their chef and competing against each other in timed trial rounds

prizes can be won for both events, but the ones for the trial rounds are generally more competition based while the ones for the training rounds are more about luxury/quality of life while filming

each trial round win counts as a point towards the team’s score in the competition

only trial rounds affect this score

once a certain number of points has been reached (5), that team moves into the next phase of the competition

instead of working as a team, they are split up and now have to work against each other to win the favor of their chef

and in the finale, after one last big cookout competition, an individual winner is chosen and crowned a ‘former’ worst chef in seoul

once the contestants arrive on set, the chefs reiterate that today is just a training round

(they all let out a collective sigh of relief)

and it’s a good thing everyone woke up so early bc they’re just in time to learn how to make breakfast!!

“it’s not like we had much of a choice-oof.”

“anyway! team jyp, since you won the pretrial round yesterday, you get to decide what both teams will be learning how to make today. so, y/n, jungkook. think carefully. what do you want for breakfast?”

y/n is about to suggest seokjin’s signature strawberry and cream crepes when jungkook, who is still half asleep, blurts out “omelette”

(also i’ve decided that jackson is the host of the show now and i’m not changing my mind)

and it’s decided. they’re makin’ omelettes

(y/n is only a little bit peeved)

sure, they thought he was scary yesterday when they realized they were on his team, but now he has to actually teach them and they can’t help but think he’s going to make them into an idiot sandwich by the end of the day

as such, they try to keep half-asleep kook in between them and jinyoung at all costs, even if it meant running around the kitchen like a lost puppy

jinyoung, fully aware of how the show portrays him and how fans view him, notices this almost instantaneously

but he unfortunately doesn’t get to pull y/n aside to address it before jungkook starts digging through the fridge for banana milk and almost throws the entire carton of eggs on the floor

and they’re off

it’s a little difficult with y/n dancing around the kitchen anxiously and jungkook’s absolute aversion to being told what to do (as y/n predicted), but jinyoung manages to whip them into shape long enough to (barely) make a ham, cheese, and “green onion? wtf is that?” omelette

team seokjin, however, does not favor as well

yoongi apparently doesn’t know what tf a green onion is either and just throws in whatever green vegetable he can find while jin is struggling to keep namjoon from setting himself on fire

….and it turned out to be celery

that, plus joon somehow managing to burn the omelette to a crisp, costs them the training round

y/n and kook start to celebrate their victory and actually working as a team when jackson informs them that their ‘prize’ is they get to eat what they cooked while the other team gets whatever is left over on the catering table

“i hope you listened to your chef!”

“...jungkook, please tell me you used actual milk in this”

back at the dorms, the contestants share their thoughts on their first day of training, as well as their first official day w their chefs

(also include y/n saying something about their banana milk omelettes actually not being half bad)

y/n immediately recalls how much they were terrified of jinyoung, almost cutting their finger off when he glanced over their shoulder when they were slicing the green onions

jk agrees, adding smth about how he didn’t think a scowl could ever be so intimidating

“it reminded me of my mom’s face when she found out i tried to pierce my own ears in the bathroom in middle school!! i was too afraid to push the needle all the way through and walked around with it in my ear all day until one of my teachers finally noticed and sent me to the office!”

during all of this, yoongi and joon are both like...wtf

“seokjin was literally nothing but nice to us. even when namjoon almost set his sleeve on fire lmao”

“hyung how did u manage that” “doesn’t matter”

jungkook thinks the difference in the chefs is hilarious, but y/n is only upsetti spaghetti

they go on a bit of a rant about how badly they wanted to be on jin’s team

saying something about how jinyoung is scary and mean and they’re almost positive he can sense their fear or something and probably use it against them while jin’s team would be so much better on the sole fact that they wouldn’t feel like he would turn them into an omelette for getting something wrong

cue jk being all babey asking “you...don’t wanna be on a team with me? :((“

and y/n immediately PANICS and tries to explain that NO, it’s not HIM but yoongi saves their ass by saying that seokjin is just their favorite and that’s all

jungkook feels better, but then namjoon is like “hol up. we all just met. how could you possibly know that?”

insert more y/n fumbling and jk confusion

yoongi (once again) covers w some bullshit story that he was able to just guess that based on what y/n’s said in the gc so far

joon wants to question it further, but jungkook informs them that the lights out call just came in before he can

another yoony/n sigh of relief

in private, y/n freaks out to yoongi for almost blowing their cover to the others

prompting a short conversation over whether they think they can trust them or not

y/n admits that they’re warming up to kook, but is a little suspicious if namjoon will keep their secret yet

convo ends with yoongi saying something like “well, the kid’s right about one thing. at least we know we have each other”

I'm not sure where the fish motif came from but it's one of the most common repetitions in their art. They draw fish a bit less now, but art with fish used to, and probably still does, outnumber art without fish.

Layer 3 -

The "its all connected theories" bit references chi and yuu being in shimeji simulation and people trying to piece together how their worlds are related.

Tkmiz used to have a tumblr account where they used to upload short animations. It sat dormant for a long while before they decided to delete it not long ago. Surprisingly, unlike all of their other past accounts, they decided to preserve the contents of this one and you can view them all as an extended video on their twitter.

Layer 4 -

self inserts: the black haired, rectangle glasses scientist is basically tkmiz's self insert, no matter if she's ishii in glt or shijima's sister in shimsim.

gender: related to above. tkmiz's personal projection being a girl, themes of lesbianism, and even mentions of crossdressing/wanting to be a girl have led to fans that are in-the-know to debate on what tkmiz's gender identity might be; this is also why I refer to them with they/them pronouns. It's no surprised internet trans girls love tkmiz.

irl photos: I've never seen a definitive pic of what tkmiz actually looks like, but in the past they used to semi-frequently post pics of their living space. Backyards, sunsets, what seem to be the entrance to their apartment, what they ate for dinner, etc etc. Nothing too exciting.

Gon the dog: related to above. Tkmiz used to have a dog named Gon who they would occasional post a pic of or draw. Sadly Gon is now deceased.

Suicide and wine: many of tkmiz's older works have heavy themes of suicide and alcohol abuse

Fanart: they rarely draw fanart anymore but they used to do so much more regularly. Notable references are girls und panzer, gunslinger girl, nekojiru, yume nikki, eizouken, and their oldest artworks are all touhou fanart.

Layer 5 -

Parasociality: this is in reference to tkmiz becoming a cult classic within certain circles of the internet, most notably depressed lainbrains and sad internet trans girls. Ya know, nerds like me

Artbook havers (me): a few years ago tkmiz published a physical print artbook that's now long, long out of print.

Deleted Twitter: the majority of tkmiz's works are no longer available because they were either on accounts that don't exist anymore, or tkmiz deleted them along ago from their current profile.

B2 Bomber: related above. I believe tkmiz had two different pixiv accounts, both of them long gone, and 'B2 Bomber' was the oldest. If you want to see a tiny glimpse of their second pixiv on the Wayback Machine, their ID was 1535101.

Historical art inspo: tkmiz went to university to become an art teacher before dropping out. Many of their older works are references to more well known paintings, especially the works of Gustav Klimt who seemed to be a favorite.

Irl life info: We don't know a lot about them, the enigmatic personality is by design after all, but we do know a few things. Like them being a college dropout, using the proceeds from the glt anime to take their parents to an onsen, etc etc.

Layer 6 -

2chan: much of what remains of the art and posts that tkmiz tried to nuke were preserved by members of 2chan.

Nsfw flan doujins: oh boy where's where things first get interesting. Long, long ago the first manga that tkmiz self-published were lolicon h-doujins of flandre scarlet from touhou. There were three of them, followed by a completely safe doujin called "flan wants to die" which is still easy to find.

Comiket tables: related above. If you dig hard enough, you can find the convention floor vendor lists that mention tkmiz and their booth number from when they had to sell their h-doujins by hand. I think they only sold one of the books at comiket, the other two were sold at different conventions and only ever in very limited psychical editions like most h-manga of the day.

Layer 7 -

The Shimeji Prequel: There is a very ancient comic from back before tkmiz had much artistic experience (even before the aforementioned flan doujins) that still features a girl who kind of looks like shijima (and chito, they probably began as the same oc) and another character that's identical to tkmiz's self insert/shijima's scientist sister. The comic is nsfw in nature, and proto-shijima gets eaten out by her classmate named Yoshiko who immediately dies. Because there are many references in modern shimsim to this character (or someone kind of like her) its believed she's still cannon, is the reason for Shijima locking herself in a closet for so long, and will likely be a plot revelation later in the manga. I doubt the oral sex will be mentioned though.

Layer 8 -

This is another referenced to a deleted tweet. There used to be a time when tkmiz would be horny on main and just post about jerking off. You can probably imagine the rest

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who kind of has a problem with all the alts and private accounts. Like I don't see any problem with having an alt twitch if you want something less professional and more chill but trying to keep it a secret or on the down low on purpose just feels very exclusionary. It's the same with the private twitters, especially the Mr_____ ones because those seem like they exist solely for the sake of "oh look you guys can't get in." I don't mind it in the case of Dreamhangouts because Dream kept it open for like a week at least and he has a very good reason for doing so considering fans were getting harassed by trolls for interacting with public tweets. It's clear he was trying to create a space for his fans that was safer which is why he left it open for so long. But Karl kept his private open for only a few minutes and so few people got it. Even less so for the Mr____ alts. And now these twitch alts got tweeted about and then deleted so quickly and Karl's was on the private that so few of his fans can access. The vods got deleted too so anyone sleeping just missed out completely. I already barely sleep worrying I'll miss a regular stream where I know the vod will be saved. I have no idea how I'm going to be able to sleep now. It creates so much stress for their fans to do these things and makes so many people feel left out. I understand that maybe they want more chill environments and I want them to be comfortable but I don't think they realize that you can't simply try to force a smaller audience once you've gained a large one. All that does is exclude people who are your fans and will be hurt by it. We just want to have content of people who bring us comfort but we can't be awake 24/7 or on our phones all the time :[

yeah i mean i do see both sides, i get that it’s fun for the cc’s and yeah it can make fans feel excluded, it’s a situation where not everyone is going to win.

those mr alt accounts never bothered me because i knew they were never actually going to use them anyway :’) there wasn’t really a point for them other than just trying to meme people. i’m pretty sure i saw someone post a screenshot of the tweets and it was absolutely ridiculous stuff with no context to it whatsoever, i don’t think anyone missed out there haha

as for the twitch alts, and them not saving the vods, i really do think that is unfair. like you said, once you have a large audience, you can’t force it back down into a smaller one because there is no way to do that without excluding people and making them feel hurt. these twitch alts did just that. they could have at the very least kept the vods. i don’t really understand this whole exclusivity thing, it might be exciting for them and the fans who are around for it, but there were a lot of fans who were either asleep or at work or just not on social media at that given point and had missed out.

i don’t really know what to say other than try not to worry so much about it, and that you should watch them for comfort, not to make your own life harder. i started off caring really intensely, wanting to catch every stream and every video and every tweet and i would stay up till stupid o’clock to make sure i didn’t miss anything - and i realised eventually that it’s silly to do that. it’s silly to exhaust yourself and allow yourself to get upset. most of these things you ‘miss’ will still be available for you to look at when you do come back online. obviously these alt twitch vods were an exception, but you will find fans who are there to help out, to either share any recordings or share a summary of the stuff that happened.

really and truly ask yourself, if you missed a stream - did it really affect your life at all? that’s what i asked myself and i realised the answer is always no. the only thing that was affecting my life was how hard i was trying to keep up with them, and how exhausting and unenjoyable it became. now that i just watch what i can when i can, and i get tweet notifications just from a few select favourites, and i don’t worry about those locked accounts - i am finding it so much more enjoyable to be here. i am finding a lot of joy in interacting with the fandom. it’s a different story of course if what you want is interaction with the cc’s - that was never a motivation for me, i don’t really mind if they don’t know of my existence, i don’t really care to get a tweet or a follow. i think that’s why i am able to enjoy myself a lot more :) i just enjoy being involved in whatever way i can be!
