IT WAS A COUPLE OF HOURS AFTER RICK LEFT YOUR APARTMENT.
Your coffee machine was working overtime with the amount of cups you consumed. You couldn’t sleep with the constant texts from Lori and her mother dragging you over the coals about leaving a perfect man like Shane.
If you couldn’t avoid their words awake, you couldn’t find an escape in your dreams, you couldn’t escape everyone’s goddamn opinions. You paced around your apartment, cleaning and reading, reading and cleaning… And they were getting to you. You were starting to feel like you made a mistake.
You had never seen Lori angry, the last time you recounted would be on her wedding day, you couldn’t remember why but just the furious look on her face. And now, to drag her pregnant self to your doorstep and into your safe place, you couldn’t forget it.
No matter how many cups of coffee or the pages you flipped or the mirrors you wiped down or the batter you mixed. It was all starting to become too much to handle.
And when you heard knocking on your door, you were sure it was her again, ready to scream at you once again. You tried to ignore it, but it seemed to get louder and louder by the second. Whoever was on the other side was persistent.
You sucked it up and was ready to curse them out until you saw Daryl. For a moment, everything fell to relief until you saw the bruise over his left eye, a split lip, and bloody knuckles.
Both of you stared at each other. None knew what to say until he attempted to step forward, his voice was gruff and you couldn’t comprehend what was said. You remembered bringing him inside and sitting him down on your chair, asking all kinds of questions.
“What the hell happened?”
“How did you get this?”
Daryl remained silent, it was hard to tell what he was thinking. His eyes looked empty and he never pulled his hands back when you cleaned them, it was only when you reached to take off his jacket and shirt and stood behind him is when he pulled away.
You didn’t know and he didn’t want you to know. He couldn’t. You took a couple of steps back and turned the other way to let Daryl handle the rest of his injuries. You felt even worse now.
Did you overstep?
It was only until the two of you were in your room, that you still bore the shirt he left behind, more like it was stolen from him. You refused to give it back when he was leaving for work.
He laid his head against your shoulder, taking in your perfume, his cologne, and cigarettes.
“Daryl-”
He hushed you with a kiss, pushing you down onto the bed, his hands sliding under the shirt to grope your breasts.
“Please.” You heard him whisper in your ear. “Help me, would ya?”
And you listened, ripping off his leather jacket but letting him take off his shirt himself. You knew what he wanted, after all, he too fucked you mindless and he made you think about him.
But even if he was able to fog his mind with nothing but you, you couldn’t do the same. Your mind wouldn’t go blank and think about how good he felt inside of you or how he knew what made you click.
It was early in the morning, around seven. You had a freshly brewed cup of coffee as you sat back on your recliner, legs crossed as your eyes were glued to under the sofa. You could see the corner of the paper peeking out. Your nails tapped the mug.
“That guy isn’t who he seems to be.”
You scoffed to yourself. How desperate is Shane that he needed to have a background check on someone because you rejected him?
It was baffling, you never thought a man like Shane could go this far. You always held him in high regard, you had respect for him even if he got around a lot. But all the women you spoke to said that he was kind and caring, a boyfriend everyone would want.
But you never understood why he had so many girlfriends, he too said they were the best, rarely were bad ones. He once said that he planned on proposing but then they broke up, he refused to say anything about it and she ignored all your texts so you stopped contacting her.
You set the mug on the coffee table and bent down to push the paper back. You then jumped when you felt a hand on your rear, giving it a hard squeeze.
“Dammit Daryl!” you slapped his hand away but smiled when you got back up.
His hair was still wet from the shower, he wore a sleeveless shirt and sweatpants. His leather jacket hung over the arm of the sofa. “Somethin’ under there?” He asked you.
You shook your head, grabbing your hot mug. “I was lookin’ for the remote, thought it was there.”
Daryl chuckled, walking to your kitchen. “What’s with the damn coffee?” You heard him say,
You followed him, seeing him pour himself a cup. “If you don’t like it, you can gladly find some other apartment to crash in.” Placing your hands on your hips. “How long you plan on stayin’?”
“Don’ like me ‘ere?” He blew on his coffee a few times before taking a sip, licking his lips.
“You know I do.” You retorted, leaning against your counter. “I’m worried ‘bout you. You show up to my place without a warnin’, all bloody ‘n shit, and you still never told me what happened.”
“Ya really wanna know?”
“I mean… If it’s alright.”
Daryl nodded, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “It’s alright.” He replied. “Shit jus’ got rough at work. Things could’ve gone worse if my brother wasn’t there.”
“What do you mean?”
“I work at a bike shop, the customer wasn’t happy with the cost of fixin’ his shit bike.”
“A bike shop, really? And here I thought you worked at a cafe.” You joked.
Daryl lifted an eyebrow. “Ya screwin’ with me?”
You snorted loudly, giggling at his reaction. “No shit!” He rolled his eyes at you. “So, where is your shop?”
“North, jus’ into the mountains.”
You hummed. “I… I wanted to say sorry.”
“For what?”
“When I was gonna take off your shirt, I-”
“Ya ain’t gotta apologize for shit. Ya were tryin’ to help. Ma fault for not sayin’ anythin’.”
“Well, it ain’t normal for you to come to my place unexpectedly. But I’m glad to see you okay.” You reached over to touch his eyes, grazing over them. “I’d give it a couple of weeks, are you in pain?”
Daryl hummed. “Jus’ some throbbin’.” He set his cup into the sink, his hands coming to your hips. “But I’m sure ya can treat it as well.”
You smirked, that same hand coming down his eye.” Then you gotta tell me what you need.” Your hand trailing down his chest and to cup his semi-hard cock.
“Put yer mouth on it.” He immediately said, keeping eye contact. Even when you got on your knees and slowly pulled down his pants and you grasped his cock.
You could see him getting frustrated, grabbing the back of your head and giving it a push. “Keep your hands to yourself, Daryl.” You told him. “Touch me again and I’ll leave you like this.”
He cursed under his breath, throwing his head back when you jerked him off. “C’mon, darlin’.” He let out a deep breath.
Daryl shuddered when he felt your mouth come around his cock. “Ya sure love playin’ with-”
“(Y/N)! I’m sorry I got-!” Amy burst through the door with Andrea by her side. It was like time froze, her eyes making contact with Daryl’s.
You scrambled to get away, hiding against the counters as Daryl struggled to put his pants back on. “The hell?!” He shouted, tucking himself away as he glared at the intruders. “Who the hell are ya?!” He demanded to know.
Andrea stepped forward, trying to remain calm. “You must be Daryl! We heard so much ‘bout you!” But you could hear the amusement in her voice.
“Y’all couldn’t knock?”
You got up, clearing your throat. “Daryl, this is Andrea and her sister, Amy.” You introduced them yourself. “So guys… What are you doin’ here?”
“...I got your text late.” Amy murmured, looking rather horrified. She did just catch you blowing off Daryl in the middle of your kitchen.
Andrea raised an eyebrow, a playful grin on her lips. “Looks like we interrupted somethin’.” Looking back at Amy, still looking scared. “Care to explain yourselves?”
You glanced at Daryl, who looked angry. “Nothin’. Daryl jus’ stopped by to hang out.”
“Uh-huh… Jus’ hangin’ out… On your knees.” She clicked her tongue. “Totally not traumatized.”
“Stop it.” Andrea whispered in her ear, smacking her shoulder. “So Daryl! Tell us how (Y/n) got on her knees for you.”
“Amy!”
“Hey! I deserve some answers after seeing that!” You argued with Amy, even if the situation was serious, it was still laughable. But you also had to calm the girl down after coming into your apartment like that. The text you sent did sound rather strange, she had never seen you send a message like that.
The two of you were still laughing it off while Andrea attempted to talk to Daryl but refused to look at her, his eyes glanced in your direction but moved off you.
“Daryl?”
“What?” He spoke rather quickly, she didn’t feel like they were intruding… No, she had that familiar suspicion that she had about many others.
“Daryl? As in Daryl fuckin’ Dixon?!”
“The hell y’all be lookin’ for Dixon?”
“If ya do find ‘im, let ‘im know he still owe me my fuckin’ money!”
“Looks like you got us into deep shit.” Any huffed, rubbing her eyes as she sat back in the car seat. “You nearly got us killed over some naggin’ feel you have.”
“Was I ever wrong ‘bout it?”
“No but each time you didn’t us killed!” Any screamed, wanting to pull out her hair. “Dad always told us we shouldn’t go where we aren’t welcomed and we clearly aren’t here.”
It was a couple of days after Andrea and Amy walked in on you and Daryl. Andrea had come to her college and dragged her into her car, not saying a word until they reached the mountains.
Andrea started the car, pulled out of the parking lot of the gas station and drove. “We jus’ ain’t askin’ the right questions!”
“You still wanna ask around? Have some faith in (Y/n). She knows who she’s getting into.”
“C’mon, don’t tell me that Daryl isn’t getting more suspicious by the hour.”
“…You ain’t wrong there either.”
“We’ll try again, jus’ one more.”
Any opened her phone, reading through her texts. “Try the Midnight Rumbling, my friends say it’s a popular spot.”
“Popular as in college popular?”
“Yeah but all sorts of illegal activities. She said that’s where she gets her Adderall.”
“Ain’t that the stuff you guys use to study?”
“Yeah, the campus has been lockin’ down on anyone who sells it. So, they come to this spot to get some of it.”
Andrea chuckled. “And you say I’m a bad influence.”
“Shut up and drive.”
“I gotta admit, at least The Golden Bite has clean floors.” Andrea’s arm was linked with her sisters, the two of them cowering by the loud banter from everyone and how glass was heard breaking.
The drinks were pouring by the second that she had a feeling that the bartender wasn’t even keeping count of each pour.
Amy gasped when she had to dodge two muscular men fighting, a crowd formed around them, shouting cheers and insults along with placing bets on whoever will bite the dust or win.
“I need a shower.” She groaned, following Andrea to the bar. “Feels like somethin’ is crawlin’ under my skin.”
Andrea nodded in agreement, looking over her shoulder. “…I think this might be a lost cause.”
“Now you’re seein’ it?”
“Ain’t you the one who said to come here?”
“It was a recommendation!”
“Bullshit-!”
“If it ain’t Judas! You better have my bike Dixon!”

been reading twd comics and honestly, the show really fucked up andrea's character.
in the comics she's actually someone you can relate with; she's smart, she's caring, hell she's actually a likeable character. in the show they made her the governor's little annoying ass hoe who couldn't pick a goddamn side to save her life. in the show she became wasted potential. one of my least favorite characters honestly. the only reason i cried when she died was because michonne cried, and when michonne is sad i'm sad :(.
in contrast, lori was a bit more tolerable in the comics, mainly after she gave birth to judith. in the show she had absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever, at least in my opinion. honestly worst wife award goes to her, she was right about that when she said that LMAO.

Rick came back after going the Woodbury, he looked at me feeling guilty.
My gaze wandered around hoping to see Andrea, after all, she was the only person close to a family. I looked at Michonne to Daryl, “Where’s Andrea?” They looked at each other, I turned to Rick, “Where. Is. Andrea.” I demanded.
Rick looked down and then looked up to meet my eyes. He shook his head, “I’m sorry y/n…”
I stayed quiet, progressing the words that came out of Rick’s mouth. I step back, my eyes becoming watery, I shake my head not believing Rick. My hands trembled and I began to tear up, “No… please tell me you’re lying.”
I turn and look at Michonne, tears falling, “She can’t… she can’t be gone.” I shake my head from side to side, holding my head and gripping my hair.
Crying and I walk away from them and back to them, I look up, “Not Andrea,” I cried out. I walk towards them but I fall to my knees. Tyreese tries to hold me up but lets me be.
“No, no, no!” I sob and cover my face with my hands. Rick gets closer and places his hand on my shoulder, “I’m sorry-”
“NO!” I yell looking up, my face stained with wet tears. He backs away feeling guilty.
Glenn comes out, hearing my weeps, he sees me on the floor sobbing, quickly becoming concerned. Glenn rushed toward me and embraced me tightly, feeling my trembling body underneath.
“G-Glenn…” I tried to stop crying but it only lasted a few seconds before I broke down, “A-Andrea.” I tried to continue, “Shh…I know, I know, just let it all out.” Glenn kissed my forehead as I sobbed more. He continued to hold my hand to reassure me.
Glenn grabs my chin gently, making me face him and look him in the eyes, “I know I can’t make you stop feeling the pain you feel… but just know that I’m here for you, always. Don’t ever forget that y/n.”

Broken World: Chapter Twenty-Three
YN
“Great, you've gotten yourself fucking lost,” I whispered to myself. I had decided to just stay still and lean up against a tree. I kept my ears open for any movement or the sound of the dead. I was hoping someone would notice I wasn't back. I hoped it was Daryl because I knew he would be the one to find me out of everyone. But on the other hand I didn't want him to be the one. I knew he would be yelling at me and calling me a dumb bitch or something. Hell, I feel like a dumb bitch. I should have brought a flashlight with me.
Something to my right rustled, making me stand straight and grip my knife tighter. My eyes were kind of adjusted to the dark enough that I could see some shapes and shadows. The moon cast a small glow through the canopy of the tree. I stepped out into the middle of the trail when I heard a very familiar snarl. A walker slowly shuffled towards me, one arm extended out in an attempt to grab me. Walking forward I grabbed its arm with my left hand and drove the blade of my knife into its head. Just as I pulled the knife out and let the walker fall, three more showed up.
I kicked the leg out from under one of them while stabbing another through the eye. The third came up grabbing at my shirt while the second held tight to my leg. I swiftly stabbed the one grabbing my shirt, pushing it away, and went to take care of the other when a bolt went through its head. I looked up to see Daryl standing a few feet away. “I had that handled.”
“You also have getting fuckin’ lost handled?” I glared at him and pulled his bolt out of the walker's head. “I was retracing the trail we found and took yesterday. I thought maybe I might see something we missed,” I said. Surprisingly he didn't comment.I handed him his arrow and he snatched it out of my hand. “Come on, we'll walk the trail for a little bit before headin’ back.” He took the lead as he pointed the light towards the ground. Awkward silence fell between us while we walked down the tree lined path.
“I remember the story you told me about when you were younger. You got lost in the woods for nine days.” Daryl didn't say anything, just continued to walk. We heard rustling to the left of us. Daryl held his hand out, bringing his crossbow up to aim towards the noise. My grip tightened around the handle of my knife anxiously waiting. The beam of light from Daryl's flashlight panned up and landed on the cause. Andrea came out from the brush, half tripping on a tree root. “The hell ya doin’ out here?” Daryl asked, in an irritated voice. “I wanted to help,” she sassdd back. “Don't need your damn help.”
Andrea looked over at me and I raised my eyebrow. “Where were you?” She asked. “In the woods obviously. I wanted to retrace our steps,” I said. She looked like she wanted to say something cock back but didn't. “Did you find anything?” She asked instead. I shook my head and the three of us continued on the path. “I heard you talking about Daryl getting lost,” she said. I nodded my head, “What happened?” She asked, walking beside me. Daryl was ahead of us but didn't say anything. “Did they find you?”
“Nah, I was stuck out there for nine days eating berries until I eventually found my way home and made myself a sandwich,” He told her. “Oh, and he also ended up wh–” Daryl stopped, turned, and looked at me. “Don’t.” I gave him a devilish smile. “He whipped his ass with poison ivy!” I laughed. “That's horrible,” Andrea said, trying not to laugh. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up,” Daryl grumbled.
We came upon a tent shortly after. It was clearly abandoned a while ago. Looking over to the tree I see something dangling from it. “What’s that?” Daryl panned his light over to where I was looking to reveal a walker hanging in the trees, his legs completely eaten away by other walkers. I looked at a piece of paper nailed to the tree and read it out loud.
Got Bite
Fever Hit
World Gone To Shit
May As Well Quit
“He wasn't smart enough to shoot himself in the head. Look at him hanging up there like a big pinata,” Daryl said. We both walked away when Andrea stopped us. “Aren't you going to…” Daryl looked at her and up at the walker. “He ain't botherin’ no one.” In the end he made her a deal. She answered a question for an arrow. He asked why she wanted to stay behind at the CDC, she gave a vague answer and he put a bolt through the head of the walker before we headed back to the highway.
When we got back Carol was on the roof, but when she saw us she got upset at seeing we didn't have Sophia and went back into the RV. Andrea walked away from us and went to the ladder as Dale was coming down. They had a short talk before she went up onto the roof to keep watch. Dale came over to Daryl and I, looking right at me. “What were you thinking going off on your own?” I raised my right eyebrow. “I was looking for Sophia. I'm a grown adult, Dale, I don't need someone to babysit me.”
The next morning we made sure to leave a bunch of supplies on the hood of a pale yellow mustang with a sign on the windshield for Sophia. Then we made our way to the Greene farm. When we got there we were told everything that had happened. Carl had been shot, not on purpose, but the man, Otis, was out hunting and shot a deer. The bullet went through the deer and into Carl. Luckily Hershel was a doctor.
Well, he's not a people doctor, he's an animal doctor. He was a veterinarian before the outbreak. He was able to save Carl. Shane and the man Otis went to a FEMA shelter at the school to get what he needed. Unfortunately, Otis never made it back. We had a small memorial for him. The story Shane told just didn't sit right with me. I had taken notice of his new hair and the way he didn't hold eye contact with anyone for too long. He wasn't telling the real story of what happened.

Would you write sowmthing more dark? Reader and Andrea hat a fight and Reader is so fed up with her that she decides ro get rid of her? In form of setting up a trap? Or maybe try to let her be bitten by a walker while the group has to run?
Damn, that got my heart beating fast :D
Andrea was annoying you once again. It was a daily occurence, sadly not changeable but slowly you were fed up by her arrogant behaviour. It reminded you of the day where she tried shooting Rick but had not turned off the safety of her gun. Oh, her beloved gun. Always asking for it because she needs it to protect herself. Yes, thank you, Andrea. Protect yourself with it and pull all Walkers to us so you can fucking shoot more!
But now you finally had enough after always fighting with her. Once again, you were on a run with Glenn, Andrea and Rick. You could still hear your ears ringing after Adrea had the wonderful idea to shoot at a Walker in the Mall, while standing right behind you.
Now you were trapped with her in a small storage room, while you could hear the moaning of the Walker just on the other side of the door. Where Glenn and Rick were, you did not know but you sincerly hoped that they managed to escape. You would also escape but not with her, if you had any say in it.
"Thank you for your wonderful work.", you sarcasticly said towards Andrea who was sitting on the ground, legs pulled up and distraught in her eyes while she stared at the door. "Be quiet!", she instantly shushed you. For a second you simply just stared at her in disbelief.
Then you began scanning the room. It was a small place, crowded with three high shelfes and a small window over some big boxes. A small grin appeared at your lips but you quickly put your mouth into a tight line to not make yourself obvious. Quickly you walked over to the boxes and climbed them. It took you a while to pry the window open, since Andrea was still not moving. It kind of reminded you of how she acted after her sister died.
After you finally opened the window, you could see that now Walker was to be seen. Somehow all of them where either in the Mall or somewhere else. Maybe even Gleen and Rick lured some of them away. Sighing you quickly looked back to Andrea before you stepped down again and walked towards her. Her gun laid beside her, still not with the safety on.
Rolling your eyes you bend down to grab it. And as if a switch was pulled in Andreas head, she pinned you down with her gaze and quickly got up. "What are you going to do?", she immediatly asked and got into your personal space. You quickly hid a grimace.
"I have enough of your bullshit.", you answered calmly. You dodged an attempt from Adrea, who wanted to pull her gun out of your hands. "And you know what? I have finally enough. Nobody will miss you. Well, maybe Dale.", you then added and looked coldly at her. Fear flooded her eyes as she stumbled back and began quickly searching for a way out.
"Rick! Glenn!", Andrea began screaming. Banging against the door started as the Walker noticed them in the room. "Well, thanks for that.", you simply said. Then you aimed the gun at her knee and fired. The ringing hurt your ears and you winced when you could not hear for a second. After that, you would never want to hear a gun again.
But then a grin appeared on your lips and you quickly opened the locked door. Instantly the Walker began pushing it open. The first one fell and some of them toppled over it. Andrea was still screaming in horror and you walked backwards to the window, climbing the boxes to escape the clutches of one of the Walkers. Others swarmed Andrea as she laid on the floor.
Soon her screams turned into true pain and terror as you squeezed through the small window after you threw the gun in the direction of Andrea and the Walker.
The fall hurt but you were full of adrenaline. When you finally reached your group, all of them asked where Andrea was but you simply said, that she fired the gun who pulled all Walker towards them and was then not fast enough to escape them. Nobody questioned it but Rick shoot you a knowing look.

So I'm re-watching The Walking Dead and here's some characters that I physically cannot stand.
(for people who are just starting the show, there's probably going to be spoilers. Just pre-warning you.)
Lori, she just gets on my nerves and I felt like she was very manipulative.
Shane, I cannot stand this man like the character he played in The Walking Dead ruined any other character he plays.
Andrea, she just does not listen and not to mention she almost killed Daryl. I liked her and Michonne's relationship but that's about it. Not to mention she got with a psychopath and didn't listen when people told her to avoid him.
Negan, do I really have to explain this one? He killed my favorite character and ever since then I skip episodes he's in.
The Governor, that man disgusted me like who keeps a child, a dead child chained up in a room? He also did horrible things in the comics. He also killed one of my favorite characters, I don't think I've ever cried so much during an episode.
Gabriel, I liked him in the beginning but then he just started giving me weird vibes.

(same anon as the lori ask)
i also hate andrea so much, she tried so hard to prove herself to the men of the group but she was just being annoying the whole time. i wish she died in the season one finale so i wouldn't hear her whining anymore.
i guess she and Sasha were the "annoying" ones for dealing with grief by lashing at others and being rude, but the difference is that i like sasha and will defend her even when she's wrong, i don't care
Hi! Thank you for sending in some of your takes!
Hm yeah there is a lot of Andrea hate too. I see where you're coming from. I kind of feel the same way about Andrea as I do about Lori actually. I think Andrea gets a lot of hate but she really could've been a cool character if given the chance.
I do agree with you that it was quite frustrating how she seemed a bit like a "pick me" (especially with Shane... ew) and I think she was quite annoying a lot of the time, but idk there were times when I did like her for some reason I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe I just like the actress who plays her lol. Also at one point I lowkey shipped her with Daryl in season 2 please don't hate me I just thought they were kind of cute together in their few scenes together.
I personally don't hate Andrea that much but I totally see the validity in not liking her character. She made some frustrating decisions too, especially in regard to the Governor. I think some of my sympathy for her comes from the way she is hated (again). I have heard and seen her been referred to a "dumb whore" or other slut shaming term, and that kind of stuff really bothers me. I mean, I know that is not why you don't like her lol but when I see that it really disturbs me.
And I agree with you about Sasha! She was such a good character imo. I can see how people would get annoyed with her too tho, but idk I just thought Sasha was sweet and kind. She also went through so much with losing her boyfriend and her brother (rip Tyreese you were a real one).

It's official. It's fucking official. I am the only person in 2023 who still talks about The Walking Dead comics. ALSO, like I said, I DON'T ship comic Carl and comic Lydia. I would like to, kindly, view them as friends (in the comics). These aren't ships btw, lmao, just dynamics (except Rick/Andrea and Ezekiel/Michonne).

Broken World: Chapter Fifteen
Everyone got into the vehicle they would be riding in and we left. While the rest of us turned left, Morales turned right. Dale was in the lead in the rv, Rick was behind him in Carol's Cherokee. Lori, Carol, and the kids were with him. T-Dog and Andrea were in the church van behind them, then it was Daryl and I with Shane behind us. “This is such a stupid idea,” I mumbled. Daryl grunted beside me, he had one hand on the wheel and was leaning on the window with his other arm. I'm surprised he responded at all. “Better than going off alone,” he said. I shrugged, “I don't know, Daryl, I think Morales was smart not to come with us.”
“O'course you'd run off. You're good at runnin’ off,'' Daryl mumbled. I rolled and scoffed. “I left because I had nothing in that town to keep me there. My family didn't want me. Hell, they didn't even notice when I moved out of the house. I left so you wouldn't have to look at me every time you came to the bar or saw me on the streets. I had no family and no friends in that town, there wasn't anything or anyone, for that matter, holding me back.” He scoffed again and mumbled something under his breath. I wasn't in the mood to even have this conversation with him.
“I didn't do anything to ya to make ya leave.” My head snapped to look over at Daryl. “You called me a fucking pig, Daryl! I was doing my job. Your brother knew the victim, he was seen with him the night he was killed. I don't know why you idolize him so damn much. He's a drug addict, he's racist and sexist. He does nothing but put you down. You're a better man than that Daryl.” He scoffed at me, “You don't know a damn thing about me or my brother. So keep your damn mouth shut!” I just shook my head and looked out the window. “Why the hell did you want me to even ride with you? I should have just gone with Shane.” I didn't get an answer for that question. Dale honked his horn and we all pulled off onto the side of the road.
Jim wasn't doing so well; he wanted us to leave him there. He was coughing up more blood, his fever was insanely high, and he was having delusions, but he was clear headed enough at the time to know what he was talking about. Rick didn't think it was right to just leave him there. He was so set on the CDC still being up and running. He had way too much faith in them having a cure. In his mind all we had to do was get there and they could help Jim. But that's not the case. Jim would die before we got there and he would turn. It was the best decision for the group and Jim knew that. Rick and Shane helped him up the hill and sat him against a tree. Everyone said their goodbyes and we got back into our vehicles to continue our trip to the CDC.
“Had your chance to go with Shane,” Daryl mumbled as we slowly pulled back onto the road. “Yeah, well, although I don't like you at this very moment, I still feel safer with you. Shane gives me the fucking creeps with the way he watching Lori and Rick.” Daryl hummed in agreement. The rest of the ride was in awkward silence. The sun was starting to go down by the time we got to the CDC. Just like I had told Rick, the parking lot and the road in front of the build was littered with dead bodies. The smell of rotting was intense and flies swarmed around them. “Like I said, this place is a bust,” I mumbled.
I reluctantly walked with everyone towards the front doors. We zig-zagged through the dead laying on the ground, taking care of any walkers that got too close. The smell was so intense my stomach churned. I didn't like being this close to the city at night. I always tried to avoid going out into the city when it got back. I kept my light to a minimum while inside and stayed in the breakroom with the door shut and barricade. It wasn't the walkers I worried about getting it, there weren't any on my floor. I was more worried about people finding me. I got lucky with Glenn, but there were a lot of bad people out there roaming free, and the good people would turn bad. You'll do anything when it comes to surviving.
When we reached the front doors, the building was locked down tight. The metal gates were pulled down over the doors and there was no opening them from the outside. Night had started to settle in and more walkers were starting to slowly creep towards us. The children whimpered and held onto their mothers. “Rick, there is nobody here. We need to go now!” I hissed at him. “This place wouldn't be locked down if there weren't people inside.”
“Those people could be fucking dead for all we know. They work with very deadly shit, Rick! We need to go now! We can not be this close to the city at night,” I told him. Shane grabbed ahold of him and started to drag him away. Daryl, Glenn, and T-dog were taking out any walkers that got too close. “The camera…it moved! The camera moved!” Rick said, breaking free from Shane and started to pound on the door. “You're seeing this, man,” Shane told him, trying to drag Rick away from the door.
Rick was begging for whoever he thought was in there to let you in. “We have children, hardly any gas or food!” Shane was able to pull him away. “You're killing us! You're killing us!” Rick yelled. Walkers were getting closer, more showing up from all the noise that had been created by Rick banging and yelling. Shane tugged on Rick, pulling him away from the doors. We started to make our way back to the vehicles, taking out any walkers close by. The kids wrapped themselves around their mothers, soft cries and sniffles could be heard from them. Then the doors opened, halting us in our tracks and a bright blinding white light streamed out.
