little bit of a longer post
i wanted to come on here and address the rumors and comments about these 2
i feel as if debrusk is in the same position as tuukka. this season has been especially difficult. with the pandemic, this season was nothing like anyone had ever seen before. some players that are normally incredible had an off season and some players came out of nowhere. not to mention jake had contracted covid and was out for atleast 2 weeks. but this gives fans/commentators/etc absolutely no reason to bash them.
first jake has played a HUGE role in the development of the team. his personality and attitude towards everything and everyone around him plays such a big role in the teams success. normally he puts up atleast 15 goals AND atleast 15 assists a season, most of which have been more. this season he wasn’t anywhere near his potential but everyone is automatically on the bandwagon to get rid of him? the amount of hate debrusk faced throughout this season was tremendous and uncalled for. try being in his position all while in a global pandemic and let me know how successful you turn out because i sure as hell know it isn’t easy. he’s such an important part of this team and i know him out of all of us wants to show his full potential next season, but everyone needs to lay the fuck off. poor kid can’t breathe without getting shit on. also countless examples of other players over the years having an off season but no one jumps to getting rid of them. extremely disappointed in some hockey fans here.
moving onto tuukka rask. imagine you have a young daughter and hear she has a health emergency while you’re not home? wouldn’t your first instinct be to run home immediately? ever since this scenario in the bubble last year, tuukka has faced SO much backlash but again it’s completely unjustified. the timing wasn’t ideal but he would’ve been crazy to not have gone to check on his family. and coming into this season while facing an injury he STILL faced countless criticism. he may be or is the best goalie in bruins history. his talent is off the charts and his enthusiasm is outstanding. injuries suck and take a lot out of the players but tuukka tried his hardest. now hearing he won’t be in until january/ish if he decides to come back is a complete game changer. now more than ever he needs fan support, not complaints about how his previous seasons have gone. some “bruins diehards” were pretty quick to drop both of these important players and it’s honestly upsetting. do not call yourself a true fan if you switch up on players that quickly. there’s no reason for it. obviously our season ending shorter than what we thought it upsetting but DO NOT blame these 2 men who played a key factor in the playoffs. i wish nothing but the best for these 2 next season and hope everything comes together for them
