This is a story from February 2019, for my character Winnie from @thethreemages. This was to serve as a little intro to her character, as it follows the titular three mages as they make a quick stop for snacks at the Igall’s Convenience Store before continuing their journey. Winnie is working the counter that day, and is a bit taken aback upon seeing these girls again, specifically her old friend/roommate, Tula.

This is another story I might rewrite someday, especially as I have made a lot of updates to Winnie’s character since then, not to mention all the new lore and updated info for the titular trio themselves.

*claps* Ayooo everyone, apologies for the quietness within this blog lately 😅. Been caught up with other things in the meantime, but just to freshen things up around here, I thought it'd be fun to take the time in revamping the older bios of my main mage girls... and giving them some designs that better reflect their current depictions now~ 😊✨

🧡☀️ Winifred Igalls and Tula Valma ☀️🧡

Something I made late last night, of a friendship-themed moodboard between my OC Winnie and @thethreemages’s character, Tula! :3 I wanted to make something nice and relaxing, and then I thought of these two and decided to make a moodboard for them! Starting St. Ravilda’s as roommates, Winnie was quite nervous, both about starting school but sharing a dorm with someone she did not know. Though during the course of their first year, Winnie started to open up more thanks to Tula’s friendly and sweetheart nature, to a point where she considered Tula to be her first real friend. Though ultimately they did not spend as much time together as the years went on at St. Ravilda’s, both forming different respective friend groups, They still value their friendship all the same~

Given that Tula is the daughter of King Grayle's trusted general (Ivor), I feel like he'd be pretty accepting of the young couple if he got to meet Tula. Would probably remind King Grayle a bit of the happier days he used to have with his first wife Elianne 🥺.

Is the most affectionate: Both would be, from Prym's gothic passion to Tula's wholesome-filled snuggle fests~ uwu

Their most common argument: Not too many frequent arguments, especially for how close they've grown as both school mates and mage-traveling partners 😊

Nicknames for each other: “Tula Dear", "Prymmie", "Darling", "Dearest"

Who initiates kisses: Both~ it alternates sometimes depending on the mood (or in some sillier situations, they try to do it at the same time but end up bumping into an awkward spot that they can laugh at later ljgk)

Who kisses the hardest: Prym's quite a skilled one when it comes to her smooches, I'd say~ 💜💋

Who said I love you first: Tula, in an instance where Prym was feeling especially insecure in her Dark magic and thus reassured her dearest friend that she's about as lovable, beautiful and strong as any dependable mage would be~ 🧡

Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times: Prym is such a sneak with this, it never fails to bring Tula into a giggle fit lol

Who’s the better cook: Prym, though she does her best to keep Tula happy by trying her dishes anyway (no matter how charred or... oddly misshapen they can be at times, its the thought that counts~)

Who wakes up to calm the baby: Both would~ Prym using her Dark magic to project some pretty night-time scenery whilst Tula brings out the stories to lull them to sleep

Their favorite non-sexual activity: Doing eachother's hair and nails was always a fun lil pass time when they got the time to have some "girl's nights" in their dorm; especially fun with Prym always liking to bring her homemade makeup to try on Tula~

1 sad headcanon about this couple: One way the girls were able to click with one another was how they could both relate to the feeling of having to grow up without one other parent (for Prym it was her father Luka who was MIA, and for Tula it was her late mother Milana). Whenever either girl was feeling down or having nightmares about missing their absent-parent, Tula and/or Prym would do her best to comfort and reassure her that she's not alone in that experience :c

1 sugary-sweet headcanon about this couple: The two of them actually met quite awhile ago as wee babies; during a time when Meradyth (Prym's mom) and Ivor (Tula's dad) wanted to give their girls a lil play date whilst the folks went to talk about some military stuff. While a distant memory to the girls nowadays, there was still a subtle-enough connection between them that sparked a newfound friendship by the time they met up again at St. Ravilda's

How does Zedri Zoras feel about female Strength Mages? And how would he feel about Tula?

He hasn't really encountered many of them due to his father & grandfather stressing how they're more of a "manly" mage title in his childhood (and the teaching he was given at St. Judah's didn't help either), so I'd say he'd be pretty surprised/confused at seeing a female Strength mage in-person. Especially so with Tula since she's commonly seen as a "dainty"-looking girl.

Ack, sorry for the lateness I saved most of these answers in my drafts but kept forgetting to post 'em after awhile, my bad >>;

Is the most affectionate: Ooh Prym, most definitely~ while Rosie would eventually soften up a bit more after getting comfy in a relationship, she'd still be on the lowkey huffy/uptight side when it comes to showing affection (not that Prym minds, respecting her girls' boundaries and such uwu)

Their most common argument: Early on in their school days they always liked to try to outdo one another in alot of subjects (magic, academics, theater production, etc.), which once they get together would be alot more on the lowkey side given how much they've grown up since then. Regardless they'll still make up pretty fine after awhile though~ 💜

Nicknames for each other: "Rosie", "Rosebud", "Rosie Posie", "Ro", "Princess", "Darling", "Dearest", "Sweet Pea",... yeah there's a whole arsenal of 'em between these gals, lemme tell ya lol

Who initiates kisses: Prym, though if Rosie's feeling especially "bold" enough she'll probably sneak in a quick one before a big mission or something ;p

Who kisses the hardest: Rosabel can't even begin to count the amount of times Prym's lipstick stuck to her mouth right before a big work day xD

Who said I love you first: Surprisingly enough, Rosabel! After years of angsting, lingering on her feelings and just generally missing Prym after she's left for her traveling Mage duties... it wouldn't take much for her to finally blurt out her emotions by the time they'd inevitably reunite

Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times: Sneaky lil lady she is, Prym wouldn't miss the opportunity to liven up the mood via-telling all sorts of dirty jokes between the both of them (especially since Rosie herself has such an adorkable lil laugh on top of that)

Who’s the better cook: Rosabel was never really allowed around the kitchen thanks to her parents (whom always deemed it "too unfitting of a lady" for her to not let other servants cook for her), so Prym would most likely take over cooking duties at first. Rosabel always did want to try it though, especially since she still had memories of her dear Nana cooking the most delectable homecooked meals in her childhood~

Who wakes up to calm the baby: Both girls would take turns, given their natural soft spots for kids (especially Rosie :3)

Their favorite non-sexual activity: Performing in theater, bonding over some old literature, having lil picnic tea parties near the gardens outside, and so on~

1 sad headcanon about this couple: Rosabel often had to fight internally about her own feelings of jealousy and guilt seeing Prym with other love interests (Dantae Litayla in their first year, then Jada Ito in their third year). While not outwardly spiteful towards these pairs, with it combined to what she was dealing with at home... it just made Rosabel close herself off from Prym for awhile to not hurt her feelings (much to Prym's own confusion/worry that she might've done something wrong... as even through all their rivalry, she still considered Rosie a dear friend at-heart :c)

1 sugary-sweet headcanon about this couple: One of Prym's first presents to Rosabel as her girlfriend would be a fancy rose gold bracelet with charms of a rose and moon-shape (to represent them both as a couple :3)

Is the most affectionate: Tula's the most fluffy lil bean with practically anybody, including her big huff butt of a boyfriend~ ;p

Their most common argument: Hmmm... they probably wouldn't argue that much on their own tbh (at least not over anything too serious). Moreso its just over matters of Tula wishing Elas would loosen up a bit from having to be so worked-up and responsible over everyone (future king or not)

Nicknames for each other: "Dear", "Darling", "Honey", "Sweetie", "Ellie Bear"

Who initiates kisses: Tula~ 🧡

Who kisses the hardest: Hmmmm, it'd depend but if Elas is feeling confident enough, he's got a good "fiery" side of his own~ ;p

Who said I love you first: Elas, most likely in a heat-of-the-moment thing if he ever sensed Tula in grave danger (despite her insisting she could handle it), so things might just blurt out from there, to both of their own surprise

Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear during inappropriate times: Prooobably Tula, but moreso in an "accidental" way that she herself doesn't realize (to his utter frustration lol)

Who’s the better cook: Neither of them have exactly the "best" cooking experience on their own (Tula being a clumsy sweetie and Elas's fire magic reacts a bit too strongly to handle kitchen flames). They could probably make a decent-enough meal if they both worked together though! ^^

Who wakes up to calm the baby: Elas would totally be one to be extra-protective of their baby early-on (having the royal medical team on speed-dial if anything were to come amiss), with Tula being right there to try and reassure him while comforting their lil one that its all okay

Their favorite non-sexual activity: Reading and Writing~ its been one of Elas' past times to vent out some of his stresses through this and Tula's always been a creative one since school, so together they'd probably have alot of fun making up their own lil novel to enjoy themselves uwu

1 sad headcanon about this couple: Knowing his father's unlucky history in love, Elas can't help but wonder sometimes if a similar fate would befall him the more he gets closer to Tula (hence some of his "tenseness" in getting too attached in relationships)

I finally got this done! Been meaning to for a while now, but it never looked right to me for a while so I put it off till just earlier this week, where I finally got the motivation to make a new sketch that looked better than my first attempts. Anyway, I hope you guy’s enjoy Winnie’s updated ref~ ^w^

- Winifred "Winnie" Igalls(18) is a speed mage, and currently just working at her father's shop until she figures out what exactly she wants to do with her life. When she was born and for the first two years of her life, she lived in Tarrin, Everes with her family and though she does not remember much from that time, things seemed pretty peaceful as she was a happy little baby. But when she was only two, and one of Tarrin's deadly fires break out one night, did this change. She does not remember much of the fire, but the next thing she knew or realized, she was now living in New Grayle City with her father and older brother, her mom nowhere to be found. Although she did not remember her mom much as she was too young at the time, she has managed to hear some things about her from her father and older brother, though both don't talk about her much so her information on her is limited. She doesn't mind not having her mother around though, as for most of her life she doesn't remember ever having her around, and because when her family moved away from her hometown, there were a lot of broken up families in the bad area where they lived in for most of her childhood. During her early childhood living in Graystone, while not as traumatized as her father or older brother from her mother's absence, she still had a hard time in her own way. Her father became a lot more 'cold' in a sense where he rarely showed much warm emotions around others and while not 'mean' to his children, was very strict and stern with them on how they should behave and act, as in his mind he didn't want to risk losing them like he lost his wife. With her father not having a particularly warm or open presence, it made Winnie feel a bit timid in approaching him much with things at first, as she did not want to risk making him upset in anyway. She stuck primarily by her older brother Colden's side when they were children, as while he was quite the emotional and aggressive child, this was mainly to protect himself and his sister from potential bullies when they first started living and attending school in Graystone. Like her mother once was, it was discovered as Winnie grew older that she was a bit of a 'prodigy' with her magic, although she is very humble with her abilities, that and along with her wanting to stick closer to her brother allowed Winnie to attend St. Ravilda's a year earlier than most students are allowed to attend. She was quite the shy and quiet girl when first starting school there, keeping to only herself or her older brother when she was able to. Though onetime during her beginning years there she made her first friend in the form of Tula Valma, who saw how the girl was all by her lonesome at lunch one day and invited to eat lunch with her so she wouldn't be all alone. They didn't keep in-touch much after that, but during their middle years they were on the school's Zoomball team for a little while together, and while she fell out of the sport in her later school years she still enjoyed her time on the team and thanked it for giving her a confidence boost. While she's not out traveling like some of her peers post-graduation, her father did get her a second mana stone as a graduation gift, both as a small way of saying how proud he is of her doing so well in school, and to give her an extra place to store power in case she would ever need it. Despite her sometimes more awkward and soft-spoken self, she's a great listener and with her generally friendly and loyal disposition she has managed to make a few good friends during her time at school. One of these friends being Raider Crane, as they were both timid reclusives for the longest time and bonded sometime over that fact. Through hanging out with Raider a bit more she got introduced to some of his other friends like Briar Rhapsody and Lyra Montgomery, and after getting to know them more she started to become friends with them too, in time all four of them forming their own little friend group. While they all went their separate ways after graduating, they are all still close friends with each other and make plans on occasion to meet up when they all can from their schedules. Besides working at her father's shop, Winnie doesn't do much with her life, aside from occasionally going out to see the sights of New Grayle City. It has always been a secret passion of Winnie's to dance professionally, though, but she's a bit too shy and insecure to show off her skills in public or try to get the attention of any major dance groups or companies out there, so for now she's just content dancing when she's alone or sometimes with her friends when they encourage her to. Currently, although she never had much of a romantic life in school like her friends, there is one person who Winnie has started liking lately. She has seen him a few times out-and-about in the city when he visited, and from their few conversations so far he seemed like a real patient sweetie for her to talk with, different from some of the other guys she was often surrounded by growing up which made her ease up a lot on feeling comfortable talking with him. Although they are just acquaintances or casual friends at best at the moment, she feels hopeful that perhaps they can become closer the more they talk with each other~

Can you tell us about the magical attributes of a Strength Mage? And does it really make sense for Ivor to be so protective of his daughter when she has STRENGTH magic? Does Tula have any older brothers with magic?

The attributes of a Strength Mage include the ability to summon giant gauntlets to punch through enemies, lift up heavy objects like rocks and trees, and to break apart the toughest walls like in caves and such. So they’re pretty much the “tank/brawler” fighter. 

It does, actually… since Tula’s the only thing he has left from his wife Milana (from her physical appearance to her sweet bubbly attitude reminiscent of her mom’s), he can’t help but get extra protective… even if his daughter’s physically strong, she’s still his little girl in his eyes. He’s fine with her going on her mage quests, but he’ll still get worried about her if he senses her getting into serious danger. You know, like any good dad would do. 

Tula’s an only child, since Milana died shortly after giving birth and Ivor never remarried. She has cousins though, most of which are big strong guys (the common trait in the Valma family-line).

More World-Building/Character Study Stuff:

Prym’s last name is Fletcher, Tula’s last name is Valma, Aevri’s last name is Ren, and Rosabel’s last name is Espinosa.

The mage school that the main mage characters attended to was called “St. Ravilda’s Academy”. Existing for quite a few centuries, the school was founded to train the most gifted mages throughout the world in hopes they’d become the protectors of their respective homelands. Though despite looking like a rather posh/well-to-do boarding school, St. Ravilda’s accepts students of any background, from the highest ranking princes/princesses to those of the lowest working class (in that case they’d be given free scholarships if their magic is quite exceptional, like with Prym’s situation). The common age of acceptance into the school is 12, and since they are required to stay at the academy for 6 years, every student would be 18 or so by the time they finally graduate. 

Though the school accepts both male and female students, they’re required to have separated dorms from eachother (so there’d be boys-only dorms and girls-only dorms, nothing mixed). They can still attend classes and eat together at lunch though.

The classes usually tend to consist of a mixture between a regular school curriculum (Math, Science, Etc.) and other magic-based studies (Mage History, Combat Training, Potion Brewing, etc.).

There is a uniform-dress code at the school, and the uniforms generally look like hooded mage uniforms with mana gems tied at the front of the chest.

Once a year at St. Ravilda’s, there would be a theater production held where the students would audition to play parts of a staged performance (usually based off of fairy-tales, historical legends, and tall tales). One year, Rosabel wanted to get back at Prym by stealing center-stage as "the fairest princess” in the play (which Prym was admittedly eyeing for herself), leaving Prym as a mere understudy to some other role (since all the others were taken). On the night of the play, Rosabel got the shock of her life when Prym turned out to have ended up with the role of Rosabel’s character’s love interest, "the dashing prince” (since the original actor got the flu earlier, leaving Prym to stand in for him). This got especially awkward when in one of the final (and most emotional) scenes, Prym and Rosabel’s characters were required to kiss eachother farewell. Needless to say, Rosabel still can’t stop blushing about that.
