Chapter Title: Gloriana - On AO3
There is a feast and dancing and a masque but in truth Anne remembers very little of it - only a beautiful dream. Only Henry and only Thomas Cromwell and his smile, the one that only she and Henry see, the one she treasures now. Anne dances with Henry and feels cradled in love, in safety - she knows Henry will care for her, will hold her heart safe and in this moment she has no doubts, no nerves.
Summary: A wedding, a coronation, a birth and some courting (oblivious and otherwise)

Story Summary:  The greatest rivals sometimes make the greatest allies. When two English families united in 1515, no one could know that it would change the fate of England - forever.
Chapter Summary: In the wake of Anne's miscarriage and More's execution, things appear to be quiet, if not peaceful. But appearances are deceiving, and the course of events once again begins to diverge from the story we all know so well.

Chapter Title: Courting, Scheming and Guile - On AO3
Anne had not meant to fall in love with a King - had hardly thought of it at all - it was surely merely a fleeting fancy of His Majesty, a way to play gallant while he searched for a more suitable match. But yet, but yet she does fall in love - it is very hard to not love Henry - Sol Rex, when he turns his regard upon you. Especially because she has been so welcomed. Anne vows that she will do all that she can for all the time she has his regard, his love for surely her heart will be broken when it turns away.
Summary: Henry meets and courts Anne, there are plots and formations of future schemes, Anne gets to be her kind self and to be welcomed, Henry Percy is Actually Almost The Worst and somehow, somehow gets shown up by someone else.

Chapter Title: An Annulment, A Fight & A Misunderstanding Of Sorts - On AO3
Bessie had never wanted this. Oh she knew that the world would whisper otherwise but it was the truth - she had not set out to seduce the King, had not set out to dethrone a Queen. But she had fallen in love with a King, had borne him a son and she would fight for her child. And her child was the best hope of stability that England had, that Bessie understood all too well.
Summary: Clement grants an annulment but not all that Henry wants - which only encourages Henry to fight further. There are tragedies, a compromise and the one thing that Queen Catherine and Elizabeth Blount might agree upon.

An AU retelling of the story of Queen Esther with Anne Boleyn as a Persian Jewish woman.
"You have come to your royal position for such a time as this"
And so Anne has three selves. Three stories. Anne Boleyn, English Lady with an interest in the reformed religion, Amara who learns the Hebrew and Persian tongue and keeps the Sabbath with joy and Esther who wishes she did not hide herself.

So @allegoriesinmediasres gave me a possessive!henry prompt for my Tudors OT3 verse ages ago and uh, this happened. Some porn or ‘Actually Thomas Cromwell In This Verse Just Wants To Be A Traditional Consort And Maybe, Maybe He Might???!?? Be Worthy Of It’
Tell me what you wish sweetheart? Henry says and perhaps because he is a wine drunk - nothing like enough to impair but enough to make his love soft limbed, loose and far more forward than he would ever be otherwise Thomas looks up at him and it’s almost enough to undo Henry - black curls and those dark eyes beneath beautiful lashes, wearing only his night clothes this late at night.
“You. You, Harry. You and Anne and how it would be, if I could be yours openly. Your consort. Your husband and Anne’s before the world. Tell me how it would be.”
It goes straight to his cock, those words, spoken from Thomas’ mouth when he looks up at Henry so shyly. It makes him want, it settles something feral in Henry, something that looks at all those who want to take, who want to hurt and wound and belittle his love and wants to destroy them. It settles a part of him that still wonders at his own worthiness.
“Is that what you wish, my raven? You would be an ornament to our court and all my brother rulers would envy me - two beautiful consorts in my bed and by my side: Yes, darling, two.”
His hands are in Thomas’ curls and their kiss is a long one. Henry thinks of altars, of the wedding he would have given - Thomas all in white and gold, a crown upon his head.
He whispers it to him, as he strokes the other man’s cock to hardness, to making Thomas gasp, to letting the other man kneel and take Henry in his mouth.
“I would lay you on a marriage bed of roses red and roses white - a gift for me. And I would keep you well from harm and wrong.”
Henry traces his pledge with lips and tongue and hands into Thomas’ skin, makes him blush and fall into incoherency, his composure gone. It is a trust that has always humbled Henry, that Thomas will fall for him and Anne and no other.
“You would sit a throne beside Anne and I and the world would know that to harm a hair upon you would mean my wrath. A treasure in my court, in my bed, in my heart who gives more treasure yet in our children.”
Thomas almost, almost has tears glistening in his eyes when Henry is finally inside him - Henry has teased with fingers and tongue and he wants Thomas like this - utterly soft. Utterly safe. Utterly without the mask he wears to the world.

“Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven?” , OT3, Mary & Thomas
A part of Mary is angry that she feels shame over how she had treated Thomas Cromwell. Hates that he was kind to her, hates the tangled feelings. Hates the conflict in her heart - because she knows, she thought she knew what such a sinner would be.
He would not have been kind. She would not have seen his deep love for her parents, for her siblings. She would not have heard of her father having such a love that was not supposed to exist in such a sin, a love that would let him say that there was no shame attached to what John Norwich had done to the Duke of Essex.
It was not supposed to be that kind of love, the love that had a King and Queen allow a blacksmiths son to give them children, to even name the heir to the throne for him. To give him a ring (she had not seen it before, but now she does - a beautiful thing), to see what they have as a marriage.
She should not believe it. Should see it as wrong but she cannot. It does not feel right to, in her heart when she prays, when she is in Church and it should feel wrong.
Instead she merely feels shame.

Sleep now, she pleads/You're not a coward 'cause you cower, you're brave because they broke you/Yet broken still you breathe, so breathe, breathe, just breathe. (Ruin, The Amazing Devil)
“You were so brave, my darling, my heart. So brave when you should never had to have been so - all your life you have been so brave. You can rest now, my sweetheart. Close your eyes and I will hold you.”
He already has, of course. She knows that, somewhere in her heart but Anne has put it aside because her Thomas, her Thomas who has always taken care of her, of their children, of their husband and she wants to let him know that he can rest, that he can go with the the lord with love, that he is not failing her, that he never has.
“Go my raven and send my love to Henry - I know heaven will be there for you.”
The sweet smile, still as shy as ever after all these years and then for a moment, just a moment his eyes open and she feels his hand in hers, just as it should be.
Thomas Cromwell slips away in peace, his wife’s hand in his, his children having embraced him with all the love for a wonderful father and grandfather and opens his eyes to his husbands arms and his mothers smiles.

Anne and Henry convincing Thomas that they want to have his child. Tom dealing with his insecurities, with his fears of discovery (particularly Mary), being reassured.
A boy with dark curls and a Boleyn smile. A girl with her fathers sweetness and her mothers face - Henry cannot stop thinking of it, thinking of how it would be to know - Tommy and Bess are Thomas’ children, they always have been - an equal gift that Tom and Anne have given him but he wants to know that Thomas has, borne Henry babes - there is the possessive part of him that exalts in it, to know that it is to him and Anne alone that Thomas will give this gift. And he wants, oh he wants Thomas to know that Henry will never abandon him, never discard him - that this is a marriage and their children, all their children will be as legitimate as each other because Thomas is Henry’s consort as much as Anne is.
Anne smiles when Henry speaks of it.
Thomas, Thomas stops a moment torn between delight and terror and a feeling of being utterly unworthy. Oh, oh he cannot help his delight, his want - he has adored all his children since the first moment he held them - to be able to give them love, give them safety and joy and a home is the greatest gift that the lord has ever given him ever since the first moment he held Nora in his arms. To be a father with those he has loved is a joy beyond words and to be honoured again, honoured beyond he had ever thought he would be.
He looks at the ring upon his hand with disbelief even now. A marriage, a ring and a crown and now, now this.
There is terror - to be sure there is a similarity of face and colouring between he and Anne and he and the Boleyns and even between the Boleyn’s and the Tudors - any child would be thought to take after them - not that Henry would ever entertain any idea of an illegitimate child and not that the court and the country would not decry the very idea as madness - Henry and Anne shared a bed every night and Henry was far too possessive and protective of his dynasty to allow any cuckoo in the nest. No, Thomas can hear the court say it - and with Thomas Cromwell! Ridiculous! That will be their refuge - that no one would believe all three were sharing a bed.
But there is…I am tainted Thomas thinks. I am a blacksmiths son, of low birth even before there is Norwich - how can I presume to add my blood to royalty, to say that that blood is worthy of princes and princesses - how can I usurp a daughter of two royal lines. He does not want to hurt Mary - he hates himself for wanting this so much sometimes, for not doing what he should and leaving.
-
“We are married, my raven, my own heart. You and Anne are the wiser halves of my sundered soul - there is no illegitimacy though the world would call it so I know, oh I know the Lord does not. I do not - your blood is worthier than any other in the world.”
Henry tilts his chin up, gentle as ever but firmly.
“You will never bear any stain upon you for what was cruelly forced. Never. And you are not usurping Mary - her place remains the same, my heart.”
Anne says the same, eyes fiercely shining.
“You gave Henry and I, you gave the kingdom a son and a beautiful girl already my heart - you saved us both and for that alone you should have a crown, should have our marriage proclaimed before the world - but it is cruel so we must hide but never, ever believe that you are less for you are not.”
”You, my sweet husband, my wisest and shrewdest of advisors with Anne. Your kindness. I know you would wish to tell Mary but I will not risk it, not when I know that she shares the views of many - it is not her fault but you should not have to bear any more disapproval or pain, however much she would not intend it.”
Henry’s voice was firm.
“You should be allowed to be happy, my heart. Allow yourself that, Tom.”
In the end Thomas cannot deny it - perhaps it is wrong, but it does not feel wrong. And when he looks into George’s eyes he cannot regret any of it.

He finds Thomas and Anne not in Florence or Paris but in Vienna, blending in with the other immigrant families - Henry had thought they might have gone to Jerusalem or Shiraz where they both have families but he supposes they had gone for the less obvious but not so much less obvious that it would occur to any of those looking for them that they might be there - Anne and Tom are dark haired, eyed and olive skinned and while he knows Bess has his red hair and pale skin, she also has Anne’s eyes - these things can be explained easily enough.
He hasn’t seen the boy yet and he wonders how he might look. Henry should have…he should have done so many things.
“I am your former wife and Thomas is your former husband your majesty - I hardly think it is any concern of yours where we might go - in fact I seem to remember that you told me to vanish from your sight and Thomas that he was far too lowly of birth to understand you.”
“You think…you think I was talking to you. You and Thomas, Anne you drive me insane - I can’t stop thinking about you, about how much…you think I wanted to marry her and leave you both - I wanted to lock you both in a fucking tower, Anne, make sure no one else ever even looked at you. She’s nothing, a nobody…”
“Strange thing, wanting us both dead for a nobody - I seem to remember seeing your signature on my death warrant. On Thomas’ as well actually.”
(From a glimpse of an @eurosthewanderer fic inspired au in which okay, Henry is absolutely not healthy possessive here AT ALL)

“You inspire me to do better” with whoever you want? 💖
You have made me a better man, a better king my darlings. I think of all that my moon and star have done - you are my salvations and I would have that written upon my very soul as I stand before the gates of paradise.

Inspired by @nocompromise-noregrets being so helpful about archive related questions have some Tudors OT3 Universe stuff about the finding of the triad letters
Lalla Meryem Duchess of Essex: I would love to say I had a great involvement in the matter but all I really did was hire Maya (Dr Maya Aburbeh). Although I will say she was an excellent employee!
Dr Maya Aburbeh: I’d been working at Essex Hall after I finished my masters degree in archival work but I was thinking about a PhD application - I just didn’t know what it would be, though I was very interested in the first Duke of Essex so really it was a dream job just working here - I got to work with young people as well which was fantastic! Also the process of discovering such a library.
Duchess of Essex: We do have an immense library - the first Duke did establish one of the first public libraries in England here and then there’s the private collections that have built up over the centuries - the family line seems to be delighted by being able to learn and have scholars here but we haven’t always organised it *laughs*
Dr Aburbeh: To be fair you do have a lot of other things going on! The primary schools, the library, the bath houses….
Duchess of Essex: Oh yes of course - that’s the excuse I’m sticking to *laughs* But about the time Maya was thinking about her PhD we were clearing out some rooms to make way for…I believe it was going to be a general community space. We did end up making another community meeting space somewhere else, I want to make clear!
Dr Aburbeh: It was meant to be for educational programs that I would run so I volunteered to clear out the room because some of the books were fragile and well, it was using my degree and I find it fascinating even if…:laughs: even if it’s just grain yield records or petitions about the boundaries of farms.
Dr Aburbeh: And then towards the end, in amongst everything else I found this beautiful chest. Just absolutely gorgeous - I was curious because it seemed so strange that it had just been sort of shoved in between the records of road repairs and medical treatments needed by those in the Essex Lands.
Duchess Of Essex: Amazingly there was a key in the lock which, you have to wonder about the hands of fate sometimes…
Dr Aburbeh: I think they wanted it be seen honestly. In my more fanciful moments I sometimes think they waited until the right person found it though I can’t imagine why they thought it was me!
Dr Aburbeh: People have often asked me how, how could it be lost or how could they keep these letters and I think it’s…when you read them you can see the hope that one day, maybe, just maybe people would look at them and not see an abomination or a sin but a family, a marriage, a love. That their son and their daughter in law had already changed things incredibly - we all know that, changed things from the base Anne, Henry and Thomas had left and I think they hoped that their love could be recognised one day.
Duchess Of Essex: As for how they could be lost - we have a huge collection of course but the other is…Gregory, that is the second Duke loved his father dearly and I suspect his loss was very painful so he probably kept this safe but didn’t want to look at it - perhaps it was similar with Thomas’ other children. And then of course down the centuries it’s significance got forgotten or just misplaced.
Dr Aburbeh: I got very very excited, yes. I had some idea of just how significant they were but I don’t think it really sank in for a long time. I called my wife. I called my PhD advisor to say that I needed to change my proposal actually! And then it was about writing what became The Tudor Triad.
Duchess Of Essex: I felt very honoured, very glad that I could have a small part of bringing my ancestor into the light where he should be - as a husband, a ruler, a father and a lover.

Whump: KoA Finds Out and Mary has to choose between her mother and the rest of her family.
She doesn’t want to choose - she won’t. It’s freeing, Mary discovers to say to herself that she doesn’t have to. The certainty that it won’t damn her is hard won but it’s solid, there in her heart and soul.
“He’s a good man, Mama” she says because it’s true, Thomas Cromwell is a good man - he has never asked her to choose. He has respected her even when she thought little of him. “He is a good man and he once did me a great service when he had little reason to.”
(She will not speak of Norwich)
I am sorry it will cause you pain, Mary thinks, I am so sorry, but I will not choose between those I love.
“The Lord has surely evidenced His blessings by the peace of the realm, by my brothers and my sisters - by my own happiness. Mama, I do not expect you to embrace this, even to like it but all I have seen says that this is a true and blessed love.”
Mary means it. Years ago, years ago she would have looked at herself in horror but she means it and her mothers disgust would have reflected her own. But she cannot, not now - not after everything.
“They are all my brothers and sisters. All of them.”
Another truth. Mary is steady now, she aches for her mother but she knows her own place in the world and her pain does not mean she has to choose another pain.
“I love you Mama. I will always, always love you but I love my other mother as well - my mother who had very little reason to be kind to us both. I love my brothers, my sisters and yes, my stepfather too. I love father. I will not choose between any of you - if you speak out I will speak for you as my beloved mother but you must know that no one will believe it. And I do not, I do not desire the throne - not now and I do not feel guilt for it.”
It is love, Mary thinks. It is love, it is the family I have built brick by brick and I will not tear it down for a crown. She means it - she will speak for her mother, for understanding and for time but she will speak for the rest of her family too.
It still hurts her to see her Mama in pain, but Mary sees now that she can love them both.

Post Lionel, Pippa doesn’t trust any of her ladies-in-waiting and will only be cared for by her mother/oldest sisters/aunts and her fathers when they can be spared from their duties. KoA volunteers to spend time with Pippa to relieve Henry/Anne (caregiver fatigue), and because she’s spending so much time with them with their guards down, she gets confirmation of the OT3/paternity, but decides not to act bc of seeing Thomas w Pippa.
She would never have thought it once. A part of her thinks it might still be heresy, be perhaps one of the greater sins of her life - to say that a child who has no Tudor blood is a Princess, to once again deprive herself and her daughter of their place. But yet, yet somehow, somehow it does not feel like a sin, when she looks at her former husband, his now queen and the duke of essex.
It does not feel a fraud, when she looks at Pippa, at George, at Owen to still see royalty - it does not stick in her mouth or her heart to say so, to say they are royal and Katherine of Aragon feels guilt that it does not, that it is so easy to say that they are as much princes and princess as her own daughter, as Tommy, Meg, Liam and Ned are.
The Lord is speaking to her but it is not the answer she ever expected, that the world would expect her to give and yet, and yet she is happy with it, when she prays.
She looks at the Duke of Essex and thinks of the story she heard Mary tell Pippa, about the service he had given to her, thinks of the loyalty despite the dislike of many. She looks at Pippa, sleeping in her arms, as much a grandchild as any of Mary’s children, thinks of how it must be that he cannot openly comfort his child.
The Lord has given her an answer.
