I plugged in Thomas the Tank Engine characters into the Hunger Games Simulator. Here's how it went.

To begin, here's the tribute lineup! Unfortunately, the program wouldn't take any of the image urls I tried to enter so we're just gonna have to use our imaginations.

The horn has sounded! What is everyone's first move?

Oof! Looks like we've already got 2(3?) eliminations folks! Say goodbye to Bertie, Annie, and (probably) Duck.

Honestly Bill stealing from Boco is very on brand for him. XD

Damn. We lost a lot of Steam Team members this round. And it's only the first day. *sad salute*

Here's who we have left after only just one day. The "Magic Railroad" duo really be out for blood.

First night, here we go!

GODAMN BILL KILLED HIS OWN BROTHER!!!

Day 3 Status Check. I'm placing my bet right now, I think Bill is going to win. It would be the funniest and most in-character thing for him to do:

Bill is out for blood. We're also down to our last Steam Team member.

Day 4 Status Check. Bill has officially surpassed Diesel 10 for most kills.

The engines who have killed have now killed the one engine who HASN'T committed a murder.

NOOOO! BILL I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU!

We are now down to our last three tributes.

The tension is brewing.

And in an unexpected turn of events, Diesel 10 throws the game.

AND THE WINNER IS DOUGLAS!!!

TTTE Headcanons: Engines’ TV Habits

This is pretty goofy, but I’m thinking about what sorts of TV the engines might watch if they had a TV or a streaming device in their sheds. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far!

Henry loves nature shows, of course. In addition, after his fireman lamented his spilt hot cocoa, he wanted to understand why humans care so much about food. This led him to cooking shows, which he found very relaxing. He likes to watch raw, disparate ingredients become something beautiful and complete.

Edward goes for mysteries — lighter, cozier shows like Midsomer Murders, Rosemary & Thyme, and Murder, She Wrote. He’s also a fan of Granada Studios’ 1984 Sherlock Holmes. It tickles the same part of him that enjoys ghost stories, giving him a slight thrill alongside a pleasing mind-teaser.

Gordon watches the news every morning and evening. He likes to feel up-to-date on important events, expounding on them to his colleagues. Any program about opera and orchestral performances also appeals to him. There’s some snobbery involved, but he does enjoy hearing and learning about musical genres.

James likes game and talent shows, often shouting answers and opinions at the TV. He’s so attuned to these shows’ editing that he’ll guess a season winner, set up a betting pool, and rake in all the favors after the finale with a smug grin. (Gordon and Henry only keep placing bets because they want to show him up someday.)

All three big engines indulge in the guilty pleasure of soap operas. They think nobody else knows about this. Pip and Emma “obliviously” intrude on their watch parties to make them squirm.

Thomas and Percy watch ghost hunting shows together. They scoff at the idea of ghosts, accuse each other of being ‘fraidy-cats, and huddle close in fear as an episode progresses. They also watch late-night airings of schlocky films with Toby, whose sly commentary cracks them all up.

On his own, Thomas watches motorsport broadcasts. Bertie hooked him on it not long after they started racing each other. He’s a fan of some F1 drivers and their cars, often comparing notes with Bertie in serious (and sometimes heated) discussions.

Percy has a soft spot for period dramas. He’ll laugh at historical inaccuracies, get invested in all the characters, and ponder common tropes. He’s not afraid to ask about the servants who have to endure the wealthy protagonists’ dramatics.

Toby doesn’t watch much TV outside of what he sees with Thomas and Percy. However, he and Henrietta are partial to some late-night talk shows. If the show’s interviewing someone they’re interested in, or if they think the host is funny, they’ll give an episode a try.

Duck adores How It’s Made. It’s very satisfying for him to watch a bunch of moving parts at work, slotting pieces into their rightful places to assemble something. Other nights, he watches travel shows. They explore locations all around the world, scratching his itch to see what’s beyond his horizon.

Donald watches stand-up comedy specials, going for a good laugh at the end of the day to decompress. Ever since Duck “gifted” him Dilly, he also watches nature programs and shows about training/caring for pets. (He and Dilly are working on some tricks.)

Oliver picks sci-fi shows, with Star Trek and Doctor Who as his favorites. He’s drawn in by the pulpy adventures, moral dilemmas, and complex protagonists. It all makes him feel better about himself: you can mess up on an astronomical scale, but still be capable of good things. You don’t have to be a perfect hero to be a good person.

Douglas enjoys shows about antiques and vintage items — things in the vein of Antique Roadshow, or American Pickers. He’s a sucker for knickknacks that meant something to someone, for all the stories behind each one, and for their loving restorations.

Bill and Ben think fitness shows are hysterical. They’re forever amused by the odd ways the instructors contort their bodies. But they also scheme for their crews to watch these shows, hoping they’ll participate and stay healthy for years to come.

Daisy’ll watch any program about fashion or body art (tattoos, piercings, etc). Being so attentive to her swerves, she’s curious about the ways that humans adorn themselves. She’ll sometimes take inspiration from what she sees, but she’ll always argue that fashion is an art form, pointing to these shows for examples.

Bill and Ben decided to try and gang up on Edward in hopes of winning together. Unfortunately for them, Edward has plenty of steam and experience to fight both at once. Promptly sending Ben flying while Bill watched in shock.

Hey y'all! Hope you're all doing well! ^^ I'm here today with some more train art based on another potential story idea I came up with! :D

One day Bill isn't feeling well, but his crew can't seem to find anything wrong with him. And of course, the stubborn little bastard won't admit to feeling bad either, he absolutely refuses to look weak in front of Ben, so off they go to work.

Bill continues feeling worse and worse, and it all comes to a head when Ben takes notice and begins asking questions. Bill goes on the defensive and Ben gets more and more frustrated with him, leading to many a remark about Bill just being lazy that royally tick him off. Bill, determined to prove he's fine, challenges Ben to a race. And it ends exactly how you'd expect; Bill bursts a piston/valve because he was too stubborn to just admit he was feeling unwell, and Ben, despite it all, still rushes back to make sure his twin's ok.

Bill owns up to his mistake, Ben apologizes for teasing him, and it's safe to say that Bill never let pride get in the way of common sense ever again! xD

Man, I've had a field day with coming up with stories involving these two, mostly just cause I see so much untapped potential in them! Especially in their dynamic with each other.

We've seen them annoy everyone else into oblivion, and they clearly have similar interests/personalities, but it really left me wondering what makes them different? What kind of conflict could you draw out by just giving them a lil extra nuance and seeing how those slight differences affect their interactions? I.E Bill is more prideful, or Ben being more indifferent. 

So yeah, it's safe to say the bees have infected my brain yet again. xD Thanks a lot you little devils.

Some Cranky Headcanons

-A dockworker once tried decorating him for Christmas. They climbed up to Cranky’s cab with coils of lights and garlands. A lot of yelling and thrashing later, they climbed back down with said coils snarled around themselves.

-Everyone got the message loud and clear… except for Salty, who praised Cranky for his “proper sailor’s knots.”

-He has a camera attached to his sign — done at the behest of the NWR for some self-promotion — that livestreams the docks every now and then. The view from his height is stunning, replete with incredible shots of Sodor’s industry and coast.

-He didn’t like the camera at first, griping about its extra weight. But then he heard about the glowing comments from viewers about his camera work. His occasional grumbles the camera picked up even earned him some fans, who found his comments funny/endearing.

-Now he complains whenever they turn the camera off. Knowing lots of people appreciate him and are right there, looking out to the ocean with him, is a comfort.

-Cranky hated Bill and Ben for their pranks and general mischief. That is, until he teamed up with them to humble a dockyard manager who was a massive jerk to all parties.

-(“Can’t we just report him?” Cranky asked them.

“Well, yes. But that wouldn’t be as fun,” Bill said.

Ben grinned. “Don’t you think he deserves some payback?” Cranky didn’t grin back. He didn’t, because that would mean he liked these clowns. But for a moment, he understood how they had friends. “Yeah,” he said after a long pause.)

-Bill and Ben baited the manager over by not following his arbitrary directions. The ensuing argument kept him aggravated enough to not notice Cranky maneuvering his arm into position. From there, it was easy to let go of his cargo: bags of guano.

-And the beauty of it was that the bags landed in the truck. It was the manager’s fault, Cranky later argued, for climbing onto the edge of the truck to better scream in Bill’s face.

-The dockyard manager received a pink slip with guano splattered all over his back.

-Ever since, Cranky can’t bring himself to hate Bill and Ben. He still thinks they’re pests, but he’s more tolerant of them. For their part, Bill and Ben don’t bother Cranky quite as much.
