A3! Main Story: Part 4 - Act 13: Budding Spring - Episode 7: Hazy Spring Weather
Tumblr media
[Keyboard keys clicking]
Tsuzuru: ... Uhhh, this one’s kinda... Nah, this one’s too plain...
Tsuzuru: (Even if they say it’s the same as always, I can’t help but be conscious of it...)
Tsuzuru: (Just what kind of script do I need to write to ensure we’ll be nominated...?)
Tsuzuru: (Something that won’t only satisfy our current fans, but will also bring in new ones...)
Citron: ...
Tsuzuru: *sigh*... I’ve got no idea...
Citron: Tsuzuru! We’re having a strategy meeting!
Tsuzuru: !? Got it.
Izumi: I can absolutely understand Tsuzuru-kun's conflict.
Izumi: The burden we’re carrying is different this time around, so it’s harder to pick a topic.
Masumi: And not just what the play will be about, but also the lead and co-lead.
Chikage: A topic and cast that will get us the most votes...
Tsuzuru: It gets even tougher when you put it like this.
Citron: It’s the rivalry of local craw craws with no blood and tears!
Tsuzuru: ...
Citron: Tsuzuru, you don’t even have the strength to tsukkomi me!?
Itaru: Rivalry of local cools, right.
Citron: It’s rivalry of local warlords!? Even Itaru is acting strange!
Chikage: In any case, the pressure on Tsuzuru is getting bad.
Tsuzuru: I was completely absorbed in writing during our debut, so the pressure was completely different.
Tsuzuru: The Showdown ACT with the First Generation was also real difficult, but at least our opponent there was clear...
Chikage: This time our opponents are every other theater company + the public who are voting, so we don’t know what the right answer is.
Tsuzuru: Is there even a right answer to begin with...
Itaru: ^ This.
Sakuya: At the end of the day, our only choice is to perform to the best of our abilities.
Itaru: That being said, it’s still difficult to tell what the best of our abilities entails.
Tsuzuru: That’s true...
Masumi: Just what is a performance and stage that resembles us, the Spring Troupe, supposed to be?
Chikage: ... Something that resembles us, huh.
Sakuya: What kind of play would that be...
Izumi: ...
Izumi: I think we should do the event, after all.
Sakuya: Eh?
Izumi: The workshop for beginners that we put on hold.
Izumi: Let’s try going back to our roots and the basics and enjoy theater with people who are experiencing it for the first time.
Sakuya: Go back to our roots...
Sakuya: So, something like remembering how fun it was to stand on stage for the first time, and what it felt like to find a place to belong.
Tsuzuru: That might actually be good.
Tsuzuru: I want everyone to feel what I felt when I started acting.
Sakuya: Me too. I want everyone to understand just how interesting theater is!
Itaru: There are things you won’t understand until you try them.
Chikage: When we see the participants like that, we’ll also remember what our first time acting was like...
Citron: It's at times like this that we need to go back to the Barbies!
Tsuzuru: Back to the basics, you mean.
Citron: Tsuzuru is finally back!
Itaru: I think it’s good to try new things as much as we can.
Masumi: I wanna try.
Izumi: It’s decided, then! I’ll let Kazunari-kun know too.
Izumi: Are those heavy, Masumi-kun?
Masumi: It’s okay. They’re light enough that I can still carry you bridal style.
Izumi: You don’t need to do that.
Izumi: Let’s ask the shop that lets us leave out flyers if we can put up that poster.
Towa’s aunt: Towa, when you go for your break, could you put this on that table?
Towa: Got it.
Izumi: Oh?
Towa: !?!?
Towa: Hold up, getting to meet my oshi so often... Is moving to Tokyo some Platinum Ticket that guarantees a response from my oshi...!?
Izumi: No, I think this is just a coincidence.
Masumi: We met a bothersome guy...
Izumi: Are you working part-time here?
Towa: This is my aunt’s shop, I’m living here with her.
Izumi: I see.
Izumi: Ah, right— We just got this flyer printed, but here you go.
[Paper rustling]
Towa: Beginners Workshop...?
Izumi: You said you haven’t watched a live play yet, so maybe this is coming too quickly...
Izumi: But this is an event we came up with after talking with you.
Izumi: I think it’ll be a good opportunity for people to learn the appeal of theater and the Spring Troupe. We’d love it if you could come.
Towa: Ah... Umm...
Masumi: The Director invited you, so come.
Izumi: Masumi-kun, could you work on your invitation skills!?
Izumi: If you’re interested, think about it.
Towa: Okay...
momo has entered the chat  momo:  my oshi pull luck is so strong that it’s scaring me, but just thinking of acting in front of him makes me want to kms momo: i wanna sit out. i don’t wanna embarrass myself in front of the spring troupe shiki: it’s aimed towards beginners, so aren’t they already expecting everyone to be bad at it? Kar has entered the chat Kar: suuup, what’re we talkin bout?  Iv: he was invited to a workshop for beginners by his oshi and he’s hesitating  Kar: is there anyone who wouldn’t go to that?  Iv: ^ this  momo: butbut  Iv: just go and see  Kar: and if you can’t do it just go back home  shiki: they went through the trouble of inviting you, it’d be a waste not to go. won't you regret it if you don’t go?  momo: true, but still

NOTES:
(1) citron's barbies line is originally him saying they should go back to being girls instead of beginners/inexperienced by confusing 女子 (joshi, girl) with 初心 (shoshin), barbies was the closest fitting thing i could think of
(2) 22/4 edit: towa's kms line is originally something close to him feeling that just thinking of acting in front of his oshi feels like a public execution (see episode 8's notes), i thought kms was a fitting alternative considering the setting (a group chat consisting of high schoolers)
(3) i drove my friend/proofreader/strongest soldier i know crazy with both of the above

A3! Miyoshi Kazunari - Translation [SSR] MANKAI Feature (2/3)
Tumblr media
*Please read disclaimer on blog
---
Kazunari: (Sketching today was fun~.) …Hm? (The stars are super pretty tonight! The summer triangle is really visible too~.)* I’ll send it to Sumi! I wonder if I can get a good shot.
Tumblr media
*click*
Kazunari: Mmm… it’s tough taking it with a phone~. I gotta look into how to shoot it! (Anyways, I’m gonna tell Sumi about it first thing once I get home. He might already know about it though.)
???: Kazu~!
Kazunari: Huh?
-pause-
Misumi: Up here! On top of the triangle roof!
Muku: Kazu-kuuun, welcome home!
Kumon: Welcome back!
Tumblr media
-pause-
Kazunari: Sumi! You guys!
Misumi: Join us, Kazu~!
Kazunari: …
-pause-
Kazunari: Upsies… and oof! What a surprise. All of Summer troupe’s gathered on the rooftop!
Tumblr media
Yuki: We ended up holding a summer triangle appreciation party as per Misumi’s suggestion.
Muku: It worked out perfectly since we also spotted you the moment you got home.
Kumon: Tah dah. We made sure to prepare onigiri too!
Tumblr media
Misumi: The view is really pretty up here~!
Kazunari: I was just gazing up as I came home! It’s beautiful, isn’t it?
Tenma: By the way, Paul was chosen as the role for your spin-off, right?
Kazunari: Yep! I have a script meeting with Tsuzurun later!
Muku: Kazu-kun’s Paul was really dashing! I understand why the audience loves him so much.
Kumon: Yeah! I love Kazu-san’s Paul too!
Yuki: That reminds me, we’ve thought about their after stories before.
Kumon: Eh, you have!?
Misumi: You weren’t part of the theatre yet back then.
Kazunari: We talked about how Henry was actually a prince, and how Sky went off on an adventure to find the golden triangle!
Tenma: We totally just did whatever we wanted.
Tumblr media
Kumon: Awesome! That sounds super fun!
Muku: Kazu-kun came up with a story where Paul joins the Sky Pirates.
Misumi: Yeah, that’s right!
Tenma: But we’re doing a spin-off this time, not a sequel, right? We can talk about that later.
Kumon: Aw~! Way to keep me in suspense, Tenma-san~!
Muku: I think an exchange between Paul and the Sky Pirates is a must though.
Misumi: It’d be fun if all the Sky Pirates and Paul could go wild and make lots of noise together!
Tenma: Even though it’s Paul’s spin-off, I’d like it if we could include some of Summer troupe’s typical comedy scenes.
Yuki: Even if they don’t become friends, we could show something like the pirates and navy joining forces.
Kumon: I wanna see Paul’s cool side!
Kazunari: I see, I see. Join forces… that’s true… I’ve got an image of what I wanna do after talking with you guys! Thanks!
Muku: I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Misumi: ...Ah! A shooting star!
Tumblr media
Tenma: Where?
Kumon: Wah! I gotta make a wish!
Kazunari: Me too, me too! Lemme think… I wish that Paul’s spin-off turns out well!
Yuki: Don’t you have to chant your wish three times for shooting stars?
Kazunari: Wait, what!? It’s too late for that!
-pause-
Kauznari: …And so, that’s the kinda story I want!
Tsuzuru: I see… in that case, it sounds like whole cast is going to appear.
Tumblr media
Kazunari: Yep. Since we’re doing a long-awaited spin-off, I want everyone to take the stage!
Tsuzuru: That sounds just like you. I’ve also been itching to write a Paul fight scene like the one you just explained to me.
Kazunari: I’ll be expecting it! Thanks, fam!

A3! Event Story Translation “Moon Traveler” - Chapter 4
A rehearsal ensues and Banri joins in to offer the troupe his input on the casting and acting. Meanwhile, Tsuzuru is visibly dissatisfied with the script.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izumi
Banri-kun will join us as an assistant director from today.
Banri
Sup’.
Chikage
Treat us well.
Izumi
Alright, now from the top——.
Chikage
“Woaah!”
Tsuzuru
“Hm?”
Sakuya
“What, what is it?”
Izumi
Let me explain the casting again.
The lead actor this time around is Chikage-san, who’ll be playing the role of Roberto.
Itaru-san plays Carlo, a doctor who helps Roberto out, while Masumi-kun plays Paolo, who’s a linguist.
Citron-kun will be playing as Geraldo, a martial arts expert who works as a bodyguard, and Sakuya-kun will play the role of Pio, an apprentice cook.
Then we have Gino, an inventor who is the co-lead.
Tsuzuru
“What in the world are you trying to accomplish? You know you can’t fly.”
Chikage
“My sights are set on the moon.”
Tsuzuru
“Huh? Surely you don’t mean the moon of the night sky?
Banri
That guy Tsuzuru.
Izumi
I was kinda shocked when he volunteered himself for the role.
*Flashback*
Tumblr media
Tsuzuru
Will you let me play the co-lead as Gino?
Since the script might change, I want to play a role that’ll put a lot of strain on me.
I feel bad for the leads.
Chikage
I don’t really mind, but… won’t it be too much on you, Tsuzuru? I don’t think you have to carry all that burden.
Tsuzuru
If I’m going to burden everyone, I don’t want to just skate on by. I want to give a script that we’ll be satisfied with even if that’s selfish of me.
And as I was writing, I felt a kinship with Gino.
The part where he tries his best to help Roberto fulfill his dreams is like how I feel digging deep into Chikage-san’s dream.
Itaru
Makes sense if you put it that way.
Citron
Indeed, Gino who is quite meddlesome is perfect for Tsuzuru!
Tsuzuru
That feels backhanded somehow.
Chikage
Don’t stress about it. I’d be relieved if someone like Tsuzuru helped me on my journey to the moon.
Izumi
Then it’s decided.
*Flashback end*
Banri
The casting’s pretty good for the most part.
Chikage
“Now, let us proceed with the Lunar Travel Project.”
Tsuzuru
“Huh?”
Chikage
“It is a joint project between I, an astronomer, and you, an inventor as its founding members.”
“We will be busy from now on. I look forward to working with you.”
Tsuzuru
“H-hah… You’re serious about this.”
Banri
As far as I can tell from this script, Roberto’s as pure as a kid and has a strong calling to the moon.
There’s this resignation Chikage-san has to something now. Well, this role is pretty different from the usual Chikage-san in the first place.
Izumi
(Banri-kun feels the same way I do. At first I thought it’s cause it was just the beginning…)
I know, right…
Izumi
… That’s Banri-kun’s opinion, what do you guys think?
Chikage
I was honestly thinking the same way myself. I’ll reflect on my role a bit more.
Tsuzuru
If it’s too much work, I can adjust the scene.
Chikage
No, this is my job, it’s fine.
Izumi
For now, Tsuzuru-kun you should focus on completing the script first. We can make changes later.
Tsuzuru
Gotcha.
Itaru
Tumblr media
Tsuzuru
…No, it should be like… grumble, grumble…
Ah, geez… I feel like it’ll only get worse like this.
(Could Roberto’s characterization be the reason why I feel something off with the script?)
(I wonder if I adjust Roberto’s character, it might make the script more coherent and easier for Chikage-san to act out the role.)
(For now, maybe it’s best to understand the real Chikage-san first.)
Speaking of Chikage-san…
He likes spicy food, good at foreign languages, a salaryman but athletic. An enigma, who’s good at magic tricks, and surprisingly overprotective——.
*Door knocking*
Tsuzuru
Yes?
Itaru
GJ.
Citron
Ooh! Tsuzuru’s ingrowns are wrinkled!
Izumi
Ingrowns?
Masumi
Think he means eyebrows.
Sakuya
I see!
Tsuzuru
What’s going on, guys?
Masumi
Just coming back to our room with Director.
Izumi
This isn’t my room though.
Itaru
Just wondered how we could help, y’know.
Citron
It has been a while since Tsuzuru last had troubles with the script.
Masumi
The script interview didn’t even go well to begin with.
Sakuya
Really?
Tsuzuru
That’s not it… I got enough material.
Chikage-san said he “sympathized” with this movie, and that he admired the “mystique of life on the moon.”
But when I tried to imagine how everyone would act it out, I thought it’d be different.
It’s subtle, but there’s something bothering me, I just can’t quite put my finger on it.
In the meantime, I was planning to write Roberto a bit more like Chikage-san…
It’s like I’m looking at a profile from the outside, what I know about Chikage-san is pretty shallow.
I don’t know how everything he has came to be, or what memories he has.
Masumi
No, that’s pretty much everyone with him.
Tsuzuru
Then how did Itaru-san get him into video games and Sakuya even convinced him to be an actor, right?
I think that if we spend enough time together, I can uncover small pieces that make him who he is.
It’s one thing if he’s just enigmatic, but I feel like he’s being deliberate about it.
Itaru
True that.
Tsuzuru
Man didn’t even tell me the reason why he wanted to be an astronaut.
Itaru
Didn’t he tell Director-san?
Izumi
Actually, it was in English so I got no idea what he meant… I got absolutely no English skills… my bad.
Masumi
It’s not your fault. It’s Chikage’s.
Itaru
Well, I don’t really feel like teaching you English.
Citron
I have never even heard of Chikage’s childhood!
Izumi
It’s hard to get to know someone when you don’t wanna talk about things. It’s difficult to ask since you don’t exactly wanna force the guy.
Sakuya
But, it’s a little sad.
Tsuzuru
Masumi
Go ask then.
Itaru
Just like that?
Masumi
If you’re curious, go ask him. If Chikage doesn’t wanna answer, then he doesn’t have to.
If you could learn more about Chikage, then you can use it in the script and improve the overall play.
Worrying about things needlessly is just a waste of time.
Tsuzuru
Talk about blunt.
Masumi
Talk about an annoying roommate.
Tsuzuru
It’s for your own good!
Sakuya
It reminds me of that time of his performance as Oz.
Tsuzuru
Come to think of it, we did do some obligatory things like setting up etudes, a sleepover, and played around.
Citron
We have to do at least that much for Chikage!
Itaru
What a handful of a grandpa.
Izumi
I agree. I think Chikage-san just needs a little push.
Sakuya
Let’s get to planning a strategy then!

SPRING TROUPE 10TH PLAY: MOON TRAVELER — ムーン・トラベラー 【CHAPTER 2】
Tumblr media
PREVIOUS CHAPTER | MASTERLIST | NEXT CHAPTER
translation under the cut!
Tumblr media
Tsuzuru: Alright then, let's get started.
Chikage: It's a little nostalgic, doing this interview.
Tsuzuru: The last time we did this was during the Oz play, huh. Back then, you messed with me a lot...
Chikage: Haha, sorry about that.
Tsuzuru: I'll be counting on you this time. First of all, do you have any requests for the script or your role?
Chikage: Nothing in particular. I'm alright with whatever you want to write about.
Tsuzuru: Since we've gone through the trouble of coming here, I'd like to write a play that Chikage-san wants to do.
I don't get the chance to write what you'd like unless you're playing the lead role, and taking your requests will help me broaden range of my scripts!
Chikage: If that's the case...... How about 'ultimate curry' or maybe a tale about 'a journey in search of the legendary spice'? Would that work?
Tsuzuru: I thought you'd say something weird like that, so I'm not too surprised. But if that's really what Chikage-san would like to do, then I'll go along with it.
Chikage: I'm joking.
Tsuzuru: (As usual, interviewing Chikage-san is a struggle......)
(Looks like I'll have to keep pushing him from here.)
Actually, I do have something I'd like to ask you though.
Chikage: Hm?
Tsuzuru: I'd like to know more about your dream Chikage-san––
Chikage: My dream, huh...... I don't dream much, you know. When was the last time I had a dream......
Tsuzuru: I'm not talking about those kind of dreams. I want to hear about your childhood dream of being na astronaut.
Chikage: ......Ah, I see.
But, this is the long-awaited 10th play; wouldn't it be better to have a motif more typical of Spring Troupe?
Mankai Show was also a space themed play y'know.
Tsuzuru: No matter the motif, it's possible to create something with a Spring Troupe-like image.
Furthermore, it's because this play is so special that I'd like to make a play with a lead that's like Chikage-san.
Chikage: I'm happy you feel that way, but I have the most fun performing plays in Spring Troupe's style.
Tsuzuru: (Somehow, it feels like he's lazily dodging my question......)
(At this rate, I won't be getting any answers. Alright––)
Chikage-san, why did you want to be an astronaut?
Chikage: ......
Sorry. With this kind of vague attitude, the script won't progress either right?
I don't hate astronaut stuff, y'know?
It's just that, I didn't have any serious aspirations. It really was just something I wished for once as a child, nothing more.
I thought it'd be wrong for me to force such an unjustifiable theme.
Tsuzuru: About your dream, did you stop wishing for it naturally? Like you decided you wanted to be something else......?
Chikage: Naturally, huh. I suppose you could say that...... I don't remember much about it though.
Tsuzuru: Is that so......
(It kind of feels like he's talking about it as if it was someone else's problem. Is it because he had this dream when he was small......?)
Chikage: Well anyways, I still like things like the space and stars. So don't restrict yourself to astronauts. Something like astronomers would be okay too.
Tsuzuru: Astronomers, huh...... It's true that a fantasy story or fairy tale going in that direction may make casting easier......
Chikage: I can recommend you a movie that you could refer to. It's a very old film, but I think it has a worldview that's like that of the Spring Troupe.
Rather than being about astronauts, it's more about space travel though. It's got worldview that really reminds me of the Spring Troupe.
Tsuzuru: That'd be helpful. Speaking of which, do you have any kind of attachment to this movie from when you were younger?
Chikage: I've got nothing of the sort.
......I do sympathise with it though.
Tsuzuru: Eh?
Chikage: No, it's just life on the moon was so mysterious that I longed for it.
Tsuzuru: Is that so?
(Something about the nuance seemed off, though.)
Chikage: There's also a space-themed museum, you know? I can send you the URL for it.
Tsuzuru: Ah, please do.
Tumblr media
Chikage: Well then, I have to go back to work now.
Tsuzuru: Thanks for spending so much time with me. And also for sending me all the way back to the dorms.
Chikage: You're our important scriptwriter, after all. I'm looking forward to seeing the script.
Tsuzuru: Ah, well. I'm going to do my best.
Whew......
Izumi: Welcome home.
Tsuzuru: Ah, did you just get back from shopping?
Masumi: Yeah.
Izumi: How was the interview with Chikage?
Masumi: By the looks of it, it didn't go very well, did it?
Tsuzuru: Hmm, well, it's not like I didn't get any answers at all, so for now I'll start writing.
Izumi: If that's the case, it'll be a step forward from the last time you did an interview with him.
Tsuzuru: Haha, it may only be half a step though.

I’ve been reading Pride & Prejudice, amazing book I can’t get it out of my brain, and was thinking of Tsuzuru writing a play similar to it. Who do you think would be Elizabeth and Darcy in the Winter Troupe? Cause the play would definitely go to them
I like to think either Homare or Hisoka would be Lizzy and Tasuku or Guy would be Darcy
I just realized I should probably ask if you read the book first, but oh well I’ll take a leap of faith (^^;;
oh my GODDD
I haven't read the book but i'm really familiar with the story (watched the movie ages ago and had a friend who was talking about it aaaaall the time), so from then...
Man this is tough, on one hand i would love to see Guy as Darcy because i think the lack of emotions would really work out, but Tasuku's ability to just put his foot in his mouth and make the situation a hundred time worse by accidentally insulting someone is SOOO Darcy that i really think it has to go to him. Tasuku would be a perfect Darcy.
Meanwhile for Lizzy, that's a tough one. Homare would do her justice and i feel like he'd properly put the passion into her, but i kinda really like the idea of Hisoka playing Lizzy? mostly because i still think about some scenes where Lizzy can be really rude to Darcy and i feel like Hisoka "Little Shit" Mikage would nail those scenes so perfectly.
As the extended cast in general, I could see Homare play Bingley? Between the absolute adoration for Jane and the absolute delight at seeing Darcy being roasted, i feel like Homare would put the exact needed energy into the role.
On Jane though... so i was thinking about it a lot and would have done a rather predetermined answer but. hear me out. hear me out. What about Guy.
Because Guy could play maybe a version of Jane that can be very shy at showing her feelings, which could really land home Darcy breaking Jane and Bingsley up because he feels Jane doesn't like Bingley because of how shy and reserved she is. You can have Guy giving a more stoic act in general while only getting flustered when HisoLizzy is pushing for the gossips and everything.
Then i think a few plotlines might need to be trimmed, like not specifically forcing Wickham to marry a Bennet so we can trim out those roles there, but we do need a Wickham.
And i would argue Lady Catherine de Bourgh could perhaps be an interesting character in the story. tbh i'd be inclined to say Azuma would play her fantastically...
Which lives Tsumugi to play A Bastard again (Wickham).
Ideally we'll need to keep the Bennet parents mostly like, mentioned in the back without seeing them, bc taking them into account while casting would be a core.
And my last argument is to have the other Bennet sisters to mostly appear quickly on stage as very, very minor roles just to show how big the family is, and having them especially played by the youngest kids in Mankai. Like Yuki as Lydia, Muku as Kitty, and for Mary mmmmmmmmmh. I say just to make me (and him!) happy, Juza. No come back i'm a genius i'm right come b-
So yeah this is how i would cast a Pride and Prejudice Winter play.
Lead: Hisoka as Lizzy, Tasuku as Darcy Support: Guy as Jane, Homare as Bingley Antagonists: Tsumugi as Wickham, Azuma as Lady Catherine of Bourgh Cameo: Juza as Mary, Muku as Kitty, Yuki as Lydia. And with note: keeping the Bennet parents mentioned as acting on the play offstage.
here you go ;D

Hello dear! Hopefully your doing ok right now. I was wondering If I could get headcanons for yandere kazunari miyoshi with a crush on Mc? Thank you very much for all of your hard work 。ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
yandere!kazunari miyoshi w a crush | A3!
notes: hi anon! so sorry for the late reply 😭 i did not forget i am just an idiot lol. i’m also going to assume by MC you mean the director? i’m not entirely sure so i’ll write two sets of headcanons just for fun lmao
content warning: the author of this blog does not condone the actions shown below. if you encounter a situation similar to this, please confide in your local law enforcement or a trusted adult. this story is not meant to be taken as a romantic story, but a horror one. it is for entertainment purposes anyway, and the actions should never be re-enacted in IRL situations. MC has gender-neutral/no pronouns
if you’re a classmate:
Kazunari is a social butterfly, but you must have been quite something to catch his eye in such a way
at first, the way he treats you is barely different from how he treats others. he’s testing the waters of course, seeing how you’ll react to his advances and wondering if you’ll be like the others
he’s quite delighted yet also very conflicted when he finds out that you’re different. he’s never felt this way about anyone before, after all
expect you to be his muse in almost anything he does from then on. the new painting for his upcoming exhibit? it’s a drawing of you, though quite obscure. when he has to take inspiration from nature for an assignment? he’s choosing your favourite animal or flower
Kazunari invites you to everything his social circle is doing. karaoke, drinks in the evenings, holidays with Mankai. he really would be elated if you joined
if you decline? no worries! Kazunari has a large social circle as well as an appearance as a party guy to keep up. he’s worked hard to maintain his image; he’s not about to ruin it now
as time goes on however, he starts cracking
it begins when you don’t go to see his plays, whether it’s because you’re busy, because you’re broke, or because you just don’t like plays.
if he sees you going out with your own social circle, he does everything he can to squeeze into it
your majors are different? no problem! Kazu has tons of connections, on top of his knowledge from Mankai plays
it’s really hard for those not close to him to notice the changes tbh. he’s become quite the actor after all
as for his cast members, maybe an intervention is needed…
he’s the type to send lots of cheesy pickup lines and stickers via Instablam
he’ll probably use anonymous accounts to harass you if you block him. it’s best to just mute the chat with him and never answer or read them; then at least you can use the excuse that you’re too busy to check your social media
if you’re the director:
to Kazunari, the director basically saved his soul. joining Mankai was the best decision he ever made, because you’re there everyday
and now he gets to live with you? oh boy…
at first, he shows his obsession with you through small acts: making breakfast specifically for you, running up to you during practice and asking how he did, accompanying you with your errands
he’s still quite conflicted with his feelings though. you’re still the first person to see the “real him”, and one of the first to fully accept him
as such, his obsession is hardly noticeable. he’s like a duckling that imprinted onto you; it’s kinda cute, but nothing out of the ordinary
(especially when all of the other dorm residents look up to their dear director so lovingly, either because of their own crushes or out of admiration)
as time goes on though, Kazunari can’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy and irritation whenever he sees you around the other troupe members
it’s increasingly obvious during the times where the Summer Troupe is NOT the ones performing, or when he wasn’t chosen for this round’s mixed troupe play
he’s practically begging Tsuzuru to add him to the cast. it fails most of the time
overall, he’s not a violent person. he doesn’t have the body strength to do anything particularly cruel, nor does he really have the courage
y’all still better sleep with one eye open though, because this man does have connections and he’s not afraid to use them
he knows his way around social media too, and can absolutely ruin the reputation of those he deems as his rivals
the first person to notice a change (of any kind) would either be Yuki or Misumi, then maybe Muku (since they’re roomies)
Yuki is very observant, and he’d notice that Kazunari had gotten more and more distracted
meanwhile Misumi is very in-tune to just general changes all around. he wouldn’t quite understand what exactly is going on, but he knows something’s up with his best buddy

It will never stop being funny to me that Tsuzuru will hand the Summer Troupe a “blank cast list” meanwhile one of the characters is so obviously supposed to go to Yuki
BUT I think it would be even funnier if one day they see one of those obvious Yuki-roles and straight up just cast someone else.  Intentional or not.  I wanna see them being like “ok this character is a smaller female character.  Hey Muku you’re small.”  Or “this character is a female gardener.  Tenma knows the most about gardening!”

A3 - Event Story - First Day of Spring・Setsubun Festival (立春・節分祭) - Episode 6
Izumi: Does everyone have a copy of the script?
Juza: Yeah.
Kazunari: Yep!
Ogawa: Whoa...
Ohara: A real Tsuzuru Minagi script...
Tsuzuru: Haha, getting that kind of reaction is a little embarrassing. Anyway, let me know what you all think.
Ohara: This is ridiculously amazing!
Ogawa: A story about humans who accidentally end up in the demon world! I couldn’t stop reading!
Tasuku: Are Ohara and Ogawa playing the two humans in the story?
Tsuzuru: Yep. I was picturing the two of them when I wrote about the humans who wander into the demon village.
Tsuzuru: Ohara will be Gentaro, and Ogawa will be Kawanosuke.
Tsuzuru: But feel free to let me know if a different role caught your eye.
Ohara: No, I want to be Gentaro!
Ogawa: And I definitely want to be Kawanosuke!
Azami: You guys are really into this, huh.
Citron: They’re both pumped up!
Tsuzuru: For sure. So, the two drama club members will be the two humans in the play. As for the demons...
---
Izumi: Okay, we’ve got our cast.
Kuraki: Now we need to think about props and scenery.
Ohara: Well, we can just go through the script to figure out what we need, right?
Tsuzuru: No, I'll make a list of everything.
Ogawa: Wait, we can handle that!
Kuraki: You’ve done plenty already by writing that script in such a short amount of time. Don’t push yourself too hard.
Tsuzuru: I appreciate you saying that, but I still want to do it. Is... that okay with everybody?
Ohara: I guess, if you say so...
Kuraki: All right. We’ll let you take care of it, then. Are you really sure you’ll be okay though?
Tsuzuru: Yes, you can leave it to me!
---
Kazunari: Tsuzuroon, are you really gonna be okay? I can give you a hand if you want help.
Tsuzuru: Jeez, you’re worried too? I’ll be fine.
Kazunari: I hope so... But make sure you get some sleep, ‘kay?
Tsuzuru: Yeah, yeah. I will.
Juza: ...
---
Tsuzuru: We need this and this for the scene... All right, this list is looking pretty good.
Juza: Aren’t you cold out here?
Tsuzuru: Hey, Juza. It's a little chilly, but it helps me stay awake.
Juza: Right.
Juza: Um... want some pudding? I got this earlier today when I went to the convenience store with Tsumugi.
Tsuzuru: I can have this?
Juza: Sugar’s good when you’re tired.
Tsuzuru: Thanks.
Tsuzuru: ... Uh, do I look really tired or something?
Juza: I just thought you would be 'cause you’ve been doing so much stuff for the play.
Juza: And everyone’s worried.
Tsuzuru: Ah, well, sorry about that.
Tsuzuru: But I’m not gonna overdo it. I’m honestly having a lot of fun right now.
Juza: That’s good. I think it's fun too. It feels like I'm a part of the drama club.
Tsuzuru: I’m glad. And the pudding was really good, thanks.
Juza: No problem. I'm gonna go back inside now.
Tsuzuru: Okay. See you later.
Tsuzuru: All right. I’ll work a little longer until I get to a good stopping point.
Tsuzuru: ... Whoa.
Tsuzuru: (What the... I felt a little dizzy just now. Maybe I'm more tired than I thought?)
Tsuzuru: Everyone seems to be worried about me, so I’ll wrap this up for now and get some sleep.

A3! Event: Dance with Butterfly Episode 3 Translation
Tumblr media
Izumi: Let's read the script now.
(Focusing on ballroom dancing as the theme, the story follows an odd pair who aim for victory in the contest with their clashing personalities.)
(The protagonist, Takatsu, is originally a street dancer, but he grows after getting to know ballroom dancing. This is just like what Tasuku-san requested.)
Tasuku: ...I'll find what kind of person I'm aiming to be through this play.
Tsumugi: ...Tasuku? Do you have any questions or something?
Tsuzuru: Feel free to tell me if there's any part you find hard to act out. I'll fix it.
Tasuku: It's nothing. I like the story.
Tsumugi: …
Guy: I feel like both Takato and Arisugawa won't be having a hard time playing Takatsu and Arikawa since they're somewhat similar to their usual selves.
Azuma: I think it also has something to do with how the roles' names are similar to theirs.
Tsuzuru: Oh, I actually did that on purpose because we had somewhat decided on the cast before I got to write the plot.
Azuma: Now it all makes sense why I feel a connection with the characters here. It's like, "I know I'll play you."
Guy: I have no problem with that. Rather, I kind of like that.
Tsumugi: Same here.
Izumi: I'll announce the cast just in case…
Tasuku-san will play the protagonist, Takatsu, while Homare-san takes on the deuteragonist, Arikawa.
Hisoka-san and Tsumugi-san will play their rivals, Mikasa and Hanaoka, respectively. Dance teacher Kouta will be played by Guy-san.
Last but not least, Azuma-san will play the designer, Yuuki.
Tsumugi: I figured we have to practice ballroom dancing as well.
Azuma: Homare should be an expert at this, no?
Homare: Let's see… Did you write this piece with the classic waltz in mind?
Tsuzuru: More or less.
Homare: I knew it. Everyone thinks of the classic waltz when it comes to ballroom dancing.
But if we put Tasuku-kun's image into consideration, a dance with lots of powerful moves will suit him better, like cha cha cha or samba.
Because he'll take on the lead role, having him dance latin will be a better option.
Tsuzuru: I see… I believe you because you're more knowledgeable about this than me.
Izumi: So we're gonna change the dance genre?
Also, I think we should have an expert teach us the choreography.
Homare: I'll ask my acquaintance about that. He's good at every genre.
Izumi: I appreciate that!
Azuma: Have you tried cha cha cha or samba before, Homare?
Homare: No. I've only learned waltz since childhood, so that makes me a total beginner in the latin genre.
Tasuku: Are you fine with that, though?
Homare: Totally. Rather, I feel like this is a good chance because I've always wanted to try out a different genre.
Both of us need practice now.
Oh, right! Why don't we come up with a pair name while we're at it?
Tasuku: Is that necessary...?
Homare: Of course! It is to differentiate us from the others, after all.
Tsumugi: I mean, athletes sometimes come up with a pair name too, like TakaAri or something.
Hisoka: ...I thought it was a new species of ants.
Rento: What's up with ants~?
Izumi: Oh. Hello, Rento-san.
Rento: I heard you finished the script?
Izumi: We're reading it now. Here you go.
Rento: Thanks.
‘Cause the latin dance scene doesn't have many sounds, we should make use of the actors' live sounds durin’ the show.
I'll squeeze in some BGM too. But havin’ the audience listen to the sound of yer footsteps an' breathin’ will draw them to the show more.
Izumi: Wow! That sounds cool!
Tsumugi: It'll be difficult considering our skills are crucial here. But I believe Tasuku and Homare-san will do just fine.
Guy: It'll be an impressive scene.
Tasuku: We can't do it half assedly.
Homare: If we don't pour our hearts into it, we'll only look silly during that scene.
Tasuku: I actually don't want to have any pair names, but I guess I've gotta learn to compromise…
Homare: Have you finally understood it?!
Tasuku: But since we've come this far, we don't need to do anything. Just stay this way.
Homare: That's not enough! Because we're a dance pair, we have to smooth out any bumpy roads ahead of us!
I have an idea! In order to deepen our understanding of each other, should I try building my muscles? In exchange, I want you to read my poems.
I believe you'll come to fully understand me that way.
Tasuku: But why…
Homare: It's to further deepen our understanding, and to improve our combination! It's necessary!
Tasuku: Sighs…Fine. But we're going to practice really hard after that, okay?
Tsumugi: That sounds fun, somehow. Should we do it too, Hisoka-kun?
Hisoka: ...Okay.
Izumi: It looks like they'll come up with a totally different way to study their roles.
Tsuzuru: Looking forward to watching the show.
᠃ ⚘᠂ ⚘ ˚ ⚘ ᠂ ⚘ ᠃
Homare: Ouch… My arms are all sore… I can't even hold the camera this way.
Tasuku: So why are you still holding that?
Azuma: Hehe. You'll only make the viewers dizzy if you're shaking that much.
Homare: Despite that, I feel like I've come to understand Tasuku-kun better after training my muscles.
He can maintain his strictness by hurting his muscles on a daily basis.
Tasuku: …
(I don't understand anything even after reading Arisugawa's poems. I really don't know what's going on in his head.)
Azuma: Looks like… it's a failure in Tasuku's case, huh.
Guy: I guess it doesn't bring any results.
Azuma: No need to force yourself to match each other, as long as your personalities still fit well.
Homare: Except when we're dancing, our breathing has to be in sync. And in order to do that, we need to understand each other even if we have to force ourselves.
Tasuku: I know, but my partner here is you, Arisugawa…
Guy: How about you try what Tsukioka and Mikage do to deepen their understanding?
Homare: Great idea! Let's go spy on our rivals.
Tumblr media
Hisoka: ...I'm done watering the plants.
Izumi: Can you get rid of the weeds next?
Tsumugi: Hisoka-kun. This marshmallow egg is delicious.
Tasuku: They look very different from usual.
Homare: Tsumugi-kun holding a bag of marshmallows is such a refreshing sight.
Hisoka: ...Stares.
Tsumugi: Do you want one?
Hisoka: ...Yes.
Tsumugi: Okay.
Hisoka: ...Munch.
Homare: Isn't that what you call telepathy?!
Tasuku: Not at all. Mikage is just easy to predict.
Homare: Hmm… I wonder why we can't do it as well as them.
Tasuku: Because you're just too difficult to understand, and we're just fundamentally different. Let's practice the dance part for now.
Homare: Hmm…

A3! Usui Masumi - Translation [SR] Zero Gravity Linguist (1/2)
Tumblr media
*Please read disclaimer on blog; default name set as Izumi
---
Izumi: The casting for your next performance has been decided! Have you already thought about what you’re going to do to prepare for your role, Masumi-kun?
Masumi: The character I play gets scouted to join the crew of a spaceship, so I'm going to do some research on stuff like space, the moon, and the stars. They should have books like that at the library. I’m planning to head there now.
Tumblr media
Izumi: I see. I hope you find some nice books that help with your studies.
Masumi: Yeah. Thanks.
Izumi: Speaking of books about space, that reminds me of the sci-fi novel I borrowed from Chikage-san way back.
Masumi: A sci-fi novel?
Izumi: Don’t you remember? That book called “The End of the Universe” that Chikage-san bought during one of his business trips.*
Masumi: Right… the one that you borrowed from Chikage and lost sleep over reading.
Izumi: Ahaha. Yep, that’s the one. I wish you’d forget about that part though. The protagonist in that story is a researcher who’s shooting for the stars. It might have some slight similarities with your upcoming play.
Masumi: Will reading it help with my role study?
Izumi: I guess so. The mood might be helpful.
Masumi: I’ll give it a read if you say so.
Izumi: It’s a western book, but I doubt you’ll take as long as I did to get through it.
Masumi: …I’ll try my best to finish it as soon as I can so I can discuss my thoughts with you.
Tumblr media
Izumi: Sure, good luck. By the way, will it be alright if you don’t head to the library soon? The library closes when it gets late.
Masumi: It’s this late already? *Sigh*. Time flies when I’m with you… I’ll leave now.
Izumi: Alright, see you. Take care!
-pause-
Masumi: …I’m home.
Tsuzuru: Welcome back. Where did you go?
Tumblr media
Masumi: The library. I borrowed some books about space and the moon.
Tsuzur: Ah, I see. That explains that. Oh, this book… I got the same one and read it while I was writing the script. I recommend it since it’s quite organized and easy to follow.
Masumi: Okay, I’ll read it second.
Tsuzuru: Wait, why! The usual reply would be that you’re going to read it first.
Masumi: I already know what I’m going to read first.
Tsuzuru: …Oh, really? Which book is it?
Masumi: I don’t have it yet, so I’m going to go borrow it.
*leaves*
Tsuzuru: Borrow? From who…?
-pause-
*knock, knock*
Chikage: Come in.
Tumblr media
-pause-
Masumi: Chikage. Do you have the novel “The End of the Universe”?
Chikage: I do. Why do you ask all of a sudden?
Tumblr media
Masumi: Lend it to me if you have it.
Chikage: Sure. Ahh, could this be for your role study?
Masumi: Yeah. Director recommended it to me.
Chikage: I get it now. …Hold on a second. Oh, right. I have different books on space and the moon apart from this one. Should I fetch those too?
Masumi: If you’ll let me have them…
Chikage: No problem at all. In that case, I have two more… here you go. I’ve read them already, so you can return them any time.
Masumi: Got it. I’ll give them back together after I get through them all.
Chikage: …Good luck.
Masumi: …?
-pause-
Masumi: He got me…
Tsuzuru: What’s wrong?
Tumblr media
Masumi: All the books I got from Chikage were western books…
Tsuzuru: Ahh, that guy really…
Masumi: He’s so mean. …I’m going to read them all on my own, mark my words.

Izumi blinks when Sakuya pauses in his movements, glancing at the script in his hand. Hesitation and fear is visible on his face. "Sakuya, what's wrong?"
"Um..." His hands drops to his side, and he doesn't meet her eyes. Juza blinks, not expecting the sudden stop.
"Somethin' wrong?"
"I'm a bit scared of the next scene... and I don't know why," Sakuya admits, clutching the front of his jacket anxiously. "I mean, I've rehearsed on my own but letting other people hear this part... scares me."
Izumi skims that part of the script, and she grimaces. That hit too close to home. No wonder he was uncomfortable with it. She looks up with her lips set in a line. They are almost at the end, and the first rehearsal has been going well. But, she certainly wasn't going to force him if he's uncomfortable. "We can ask Tsuzuru to rewrite this scene if you want. Should I call Tsuzuru over?"
Sakuya glances at the script in his hand, at Izumi, Juza, and the other cast to the side. His eyes flicker back to Izumi, and he smiles a bit. He shakes his head. "How about we try one run first though? I can't let Tsuzuru's hard work go to waste."
Izumi sees the desperation mixed in with determination in his eyes. She hesitates. Would there be worth in letting him play this scene? Though, she could definitely see why Tsuzuru casted him for lead this time. Besides, he requested this particular role, after all. She nods. "Of course. You're the lead actor this time so I trust in your judgement. But, tell us if you're okay with this scene."
"Okay then..." Sakuya turns to Juza, with a smile that doesn't reach his eyes. "Please start the scene then, Juza."
Juza doesn't say anything, still eyeing him. But after a while, he silently nods, closing his eyes to get into character. He opens his eyes after a few seconds, lips set into a scowl and eyebrows furrowed. Juza is gone, and Arthur, heir of the Pluvian Throne, stands in his place instead.
"You've been lying to me all this time! You said that we'd be back home by this time, and yet we're still on this god-forsaken sea!" Arthur turns away with practiced grace, crossing his arms petulantly. This scene is supposed to be both Arthur and Martin's turning point. "All of you pirates are the same type of scum that should be persecuted. I ought to put out a decree against you when I get to the throne."
Izumi glances at Sakuya, and she's a bit worried when he doesn't respond immediately. His head is bowed down and his fists are clenched so tightly that they're turning white. The atmosphere is tense—as the scene should be—yet it feels off.
Martin lifts his head, expression furious yet close to crying. Izumi doesn't ever recall seeing an expression like that on him before, and it squeezed her heart a bit. She doesn't need to take a look at Itaru, Masumi, Taichi, nor Azami to see their shock either. He walks up to Arthur, giving off the aura of a Pirate King—instead of his usually good-natured and lighthearted atmosphere.
"Shut up." He hisses through gritted teeth. "No one—I repeat—no one understands what I go through... yet I still choose to be a kind person, regardless of what people think of me. I've been nice to you and even treated you like a friend, just because you're a person too."
The script tells them that Martin was supposed to turn away at this point, but he doesn't. To his credit, Arthur stands his ground, still looking incredibly pissed.
"Why do I always get nothing in return for all the kindness I show everyone?! Is it not enough for me to get nothing in return? Do I have to get... betrayal on top of it?" Martin's voice cracks at the end, and tears begin rolling down his cheeks. Juza's face finally breaks from his expression to an expression of panic. Everyone else in the room is frozen as well, and not even Izumi could speak up. The emotions simmering in the room are just so overwhelming.
"Still... why do I get nothing in return? I've always fought against the odds when all I wanted was to—" Martin sniffles, yet despite his tears, he continues. His voice falls to a whisper. He turns away from Juza, a sleeve over his eyes. "I just wanted for people to accept me. I always get turned away no matter how much of myself I give away..."
Sakuya hiccups as he tries to wipe his tears, but they don't stop. Juza reaches out for him, but before he could tap his shoulder, Sakuya runs out of the room. He stumbles and almost hits the doorway on the way out.
Only Juza hears Sakuya's whispered "I'm sorry." His hand falls to his side.
Izumi feels her own eyes water. Hearing that from Sakuya—regardless if it was still in the script or not—hurt so much. Izumi doesn't know how much Sakuya was keeping down, and that was what pierced her heart the most.
Would no one have known about Sakuya's bottled up thoughts if not for this script?
Tumblr media
this is a wip that i've been trying to complete, but to no avail :( writing fake plays/event stories are absolute hell, so i'll probably never finish this.
this is a haruaki mixed play (fusion of action elements with drama), with sakuya lead and juza co-lead!! the basic premise is that sakuya plays an infamous pirate king in this (martin), while juza plays a bratty prince (arthur). arthur gets caught up in stuff that lands him with in martin's pirate crew, and they have to work together to find the treasure that will get the bounty off martin's head and also prove that arthur is the true heir.
the event story is sakuya trying to act the scene above without his emotions getting in the way, and he does this basically talking out his bottled up feelings over the years (with juza and the rest of the cast's help ofc!)

SPRING TROUPE 10TH PLAY: MOON TRAVELER — ムーン・トラベラー 【CHAPTER 4】
Tumblr media
PREVIOUS CHAPTER | MASTERLIST | NEXT CHAPTER
translation under the cut!
Tumblr media
Izumi: Starting from today, Banri-kun will be joining us to help as an assistant director!
Banri: I’ll be in your care.
Chikage: Likewise.
Izumi: Alright then, let’s start from the top!
Tumblr media
Chikage: “Uwaah!”
Tsuzuru: “Huh?”
Sakuya: “What was that?!”
Izumi: I’ll explain all the roles to you again.
The lead of this play is Roberto, played by Chikage.
Roberto’s supporting doctor Carlos is played by Itaru-san, and Paolo the linguist is played by Masumi-kun.
Citron-kun plays Geraldo, a martial arts expert who works as a bodyguard, and Sakuya-kun plays Pio, an apprentice cook.
Lastly we have the co-lead Gino, a genius inventor played by……
Tsuzuru: “That thing’s not gonna be able to fly, y’know. Just what the hell are you trying to do?”
Chikage: “I’m headed for the moon.”
Tsuzuru: “Hah? The moon? You mean the moon that you see in the night sky?”
Banri: Tsuzuru, huh.
Izumi: It’s a little surprising but Tsuzuru himself ran for that position.
Tumblr media
Tsuzuru: Could I be the co-lead Gino?
The script might still go through a lot of changes, so if possible I’d like to take on a role with a lot of responsibility.
I’ll feel bad for the lead, though.
Chikage: I don't mind, but... won’t it be too hard on you, Tsuzuru? I think you don’t have to take on that much.
Tsuzuru: If I think I'm putting a burden on everyone, I'm likely to be safe my work. I want to write a script that I’m satisfied with, so I’m being a bit selfish.
That and actually... as I was writing, I felt that Gino was a lot like me.
The part where he tries his best to help Roberto realize his dream is linked to me who’s currently caught up in Chikage’s dream.
Itaru: It makes sense when you put it that way.
Citron: Indeed, Tsuzuru is a perfect match for Gino who tends to be involved in everything.
Tsuzuru: Well it sounds kind of bad when you put it like that.
Chikage: I think it's fine. If Tsuzuru is there to support me going to the moon, I can rest easy.
Izumi: Then, it’s decided.
Tumblr media
Banri: For the most part, I think the casting is a good match.
Chikage: “Alright then, today marks the launch of the Lunar World Travel Project.”
Tsuzuru: “Huh?”
Chikage: "This is a joint project between myself, an astronomer, and you, an inventor, as the founding members."
“We’ll be really busy from now on. I look forward to working with you.
Tsuzuru: “Ha… Haha… I’ve been caught up in something really troublesome.”
Banri: But Roberto, as far as I can tell from the script, seems like a guy who's got a child-like purity about him with really strong feelings about the moon.
With the Chikage-san we know today, it feels like he's got some kind of resignations. Well, the character wasn't much like Chikage-san to begin with though.
Izumi: (Banri-kun felt the same thing I did. At first, I thought it was because we're still in the beginning stage......)
Yeah, you're right......
Tumblr media
Izumi: .…..Banri-kun has also expressed this opinion, what do you guys think?
Chikage: You're right, I've been feeling it a little myself. I'll try to do more role studies.
Tsuzuru: If you end up having trouble with that, I can adjust the scenario instead.
Chikage: It's alright, this is my issue so I'll figure it out on my own.
Izumi: For now, Tsuzuru-kun, let's focus on finishing the script. Adjustments can be made afterwards.
Tsuzuru: Got it.
Itaru: .......
Tumblr media
Tsuzuru: ......No, that's not right. This part too....... Grumble......
Ahh...... No good. I feel like I'm slowly digging myself a deeper hole.
(Could it be that Roberto's character is the reason my script doesn't feel quite right?)
(If that's the case, then I can just adjust Roberto's character. It might make the script more whole and make it easier for Chikage-san to prepare for the role.)
(For now, let's try to make the role a little closer to the real-life Chikage-san.)
If we're talking about Chikage-san then......
He likes spicy food, is good at foreign languages, is a businessman but is also athletic... He's enigmatic, good at magic tricks, surprisingly overprotective––
......
[Knocking at door]
Tsuzuru: Yes?
Itaru: GJ.
Citron: Oh! Tsuzuru's oranges are furrowed!
Izumi: Oranges?
Masumi: I think he means 'eyebrows'.
Sakuya: I see!
Tsuzuru: Everyone's here, what's going on?
Masumi: I was just returning to our room with the director.
Izumi: This isn't my room, though.
Itaru: I just wanted to see if there was anything we could do to help.
Citron: It's been a long time Tsuzuru has been troubled by a script like this.
Masumi: The interview for the script didn't go well to begin with.
Sakuya: Really?
Tsuzuru: No, I was actually able to get enough material from it.
About the film he recommended, Chikage-san actually said that he 'empathises with it' and that 'he longed for the mysterious life on the moon'.
But when I tried to imagine how everyone would play the role, I thought it might be a little different.
It's hard to tell, but something's bothering me. I can't quite put my finger on it though.
Anyways, I was thinking of writing Roberto to be a little more like Chikage-san but......
How do it put it... It's kind of like I'm looking at his profile from the outside, so what I know about Chikage-san is really superficial.
I don't even remember things like the details of how he came to be.
Masumi: It's fine, I think everyone's the same.
Tsuzuru: But, we know things like why Itaru started his gaming career and why Sakuya decided to become an actor, right?
Since we're all always together, even just a small fragment of the roots that shaped who we are today would be conveyed in one way or another, right?
But, when it comes to Chikage-san, I don't know anything.
If you just chalked it up to him being naturally mysterious, that would be the end of the story, but I think Chikage himself is acting that way.
Itaru: That's true.
Tsuzuru: In the end, he didn't even tell me why he wanted to be an astronaut.
Itaru: Didn't you hear the reason why, director?
Izumi: Well umm, he said it in English, so I have no idea what he meant.…… Because my English skill is zero...... Sorry. [1]
Masumi: It't not your fault. It's Chikage's.
Itaru: Well, I wouldn't want to teach English either.
Citron: I've never heard about Chikage's childhood at all!
Izumi: It's hard to get to know someone when you ask them things they don't really want to talk about.
Sakuya: But it's a little sad, isn't it...
Tsuzuru: ......
Masumi: Just ask then.
Itaru: Isn't that too easy?
Masumi: If you're curious, shouldn't you just ask? If Chikage doesn't want to answer, then he doesn't have to.
If we could learn more about Chikage, we could use it in our scripts and maybe improve our play.
Worrying about it here is a waste of time.
Tsuzuru: How blunt.
Masumi: Also, my roommate is annoying.
Tsuzuru: Now you're just saying anything you want!
Sakuya: This kind of reminds me of the Oz play.
Tsuzuru: Come to think of it, we did push things on him like setting up an etude, inviting him to have a sleepover with us, and playing pranks on him.
Citron: When it comes to Chikage, you have to do this much or it'll be no good!
Itaru: He's a troublesome grandpa, huh.
Izumi: I agree. Maybe Chikage-san just needs some kind of trigger.
Sakuya: Then let's get to work on a strategy!

hello! can i ask why you were disappointed with the latest event? i love a3, but i also love unpacking when i think it fails, so i'd be interested to here your thoughts. i haven't read it, since i don't read japanese, so i don't know any details.
thank u for this bc i have quite a few thoughts on it lol
(answer under the cut, event spoilers)
(glitch text ignore)
tldr: this felt much more like a filler sakyo event than a tenma event. in my opinion the only reason he was really the event ssr was because he played the lead pilot in the drama they’re filming.
1. considering tenma’s running theme of “reaching for/beyond the sky”, as well as his family situation, this felt like a huge missed opportunity with the airplane theme. honestly, this event could’ve had any other setting and nothing would have really changed besides the drama. (also i’m not a fan of the event costumes lol)
2. to me, it felt like complete filler. there was quite literally no conflict in the entire event. the “person nervous to board” is an old couple that doesn’t show up until chapter 8-ish (out of 11) and this is immediately resolved by tenma repeating some words he was told by a pilot when he was young. i kid you not their entire exchange was maybe 5 or 6 lines, compare this to veludo summer evening festival where tenma’s conflict with chihiro made up at least 2-3 chapters in a 9 chapter event (and built on tenma’s character in the process). besides that the entire event is just casting -> filming.
3. if anything, this should’ve been a sakyo event. it wasn’t super introspective on him either, but would still make good intermediary character conflict/building until his next play story. (think of it like tsuzuru’s character and the liar night event). everything on tenma’s end feels very reactionary to sakyo. originally, mankai was pushing for sakyo to play the senior co-pilot (omi’s role) but tenma instead suggests he plays a mechanic after noticing sakyo’s interest in the career after he finds tenma reading over the script. the cg line is sakyo saying “some people don’t have enough money to fly on planes as a kid… like me”. going by those two scenarios vs the near complete lack of tenma focus, this event could’ve been so much better if they just wholeheartedly focused on sakyo instead. even if tenma was still the secondary focus, i feel they could’ve made much better use of their dynamic than what was given.
overall, as a tenma oshi, this was a big letdown story-wise. especially with such a great tenma event preceding it like veludo summer evening festival as well as the recent good-writing streak they’ve been having with events in general. the only moment i kind of enjoyed was a mini flashback to baby tenma being scared to fly, the scene was pretty generic (and short) but i’m a sucker for him.
also i’m kinda disappointed that the cg wasn’t banten but in the long run i’d much rather it be tied to a better event story lol

ohhhhh my god. ohhhh my god. nocturnality. i think i already jumpscared u abt it so let me dive right in. apologies for the length I may have also gotten a bit Not Normal abt this play to the point I needed a whole day to write this haha... will just go in chronological order (mostly) of how i experienced it bc i think that's the easiest way to represent my thoughts!! first off. the beginning scene where the relatives are talking abt who’s going to take in azuma made me think like ah. wow. he and sakuya… they would mesh. learning that he had an older brother rly took me out tho. that’s tough. i loved that the scene in mankai also opened with him being able to say like… welcome home to people! because it is home, this place. also love how tsumugi like. specifically says that casting tasuku as a co-lead is like… a good support. coming right off of the taichi and tasuku halloween event its so nice bc its like. i feel like a lot of tasukus roles have been abt playing that support and how like, being able to do that is something he treasures? thought it was cute that masumi dropped off the script this time like. when he was like "lol I stole the script from tsuzuru while he wasn’t looking… just kidding. he’s dead as usual so I just wanted to drop it off" i genuinely was like. omg masumi... ur cracking jokes now? good kid. as always the moment one character goes "..." abt smthing (azuma abt the "good night, and sweet dreams" line it always Makes You Think). i was wondering if he was thinking abt his own sleeplessness. or how his like. sleeping profession probably had him say things like that but it was empty. anyways i have more to say on that... around here was where i took a pause to actually. watch nocturnality the play. as you may have already gathered... I enjoyed the play. however!!! for the longest time the ONLY thing i knew abt it was the cover poster. i was convinced both kota and reo were vampires and kota was just like, keeping it secret (you know like a gay metaphor or smthing lol) but ah. that was not the case. I have surveyed my friends though and literally every single one was in agreement abt it being abt homoerotic vampires. one person suggested kota would be a werewolf but thats it.
anyways. nocturnality the play. had to rewind the part where kota was like “you’d be the ultimate wife” and reo's very normal response was “I’ve lived a pretty long life, but I don’t think I’ve ever been someone’s wife before” it rly was like. wow this is so trope-y, like, picking up a stranger from the street who cooks well and you cohabitate before realizing that you are in love etc. also i loved like. theres a lot of subtle things going on here that I feel like don't quite have the time to get expanded upon? like, the vampire hq. theyre fine in daylight. lovely details like how kota's from the countryside and probably a little lonely, how hes moved by reo saying he doesn't have anywhere to go, or the way that it seems to be implied that like the First time kota tells reo he's been having nightmares is because he sees reo covered in blood, which is like. distressing for him and he's worried. very in line with winter's non-confrontation. the subtle distinctions of kota calling reo a friend while others call him a stranger or a freeloader, the way at the end nonomiya is like oh the freeloader finally left and kota is like "he left me behind"... the way that franz says "I'm the same as him" about reo and that kota ISN'T the same as reo... the way their duet song clarifies that like, they ARE the same, though, in like. mirrors of loneliness. the way kota is dueting all those blood-drinking lines in that song still. i think the duet song (which is VERY good) does a greattt job of expanding upon a lot of what the play has to cut for time, and it rly hones in on those like. feelings. the freaking "If I hated you any more than I do, I would have long taken everything from you" line... i'm rambling. yeah i wish we could have seen more of how close kota and reo were in the middle period of him being like. unwell and having nightmares. hence my jumpscare.
back to the event story... it is at this point i have to pause and say i was actually worried about being overhyped about nocturnality. i love everyone in a3 but azuma def faded in the background a bit for me during winters 1st ep...? and I know like, he's one of your favs. i think part of it rly comes down to that like, winter estbalishes two very set dynamics with tsumugi and tasuku and homare and hisoka so azuma is kind of like. the odd one out? and hes got a room of his own, too... I feel like we didn't really get Much of him but that's also part of his character bc he's like, quite guarded. very itaru-ish vibes to me. anyways i say all this because i was like in tears by ch 4 of the event story lmao. there's a not-insignificant chance i was projecting for all of this but i really liked this event story because it wasn't necessarily... obvious? like, the main line of it was pretty clear but there's alllllll these little subtle details, half of which don't get addressed (which makes sense! its in character!) and it made me think abt azuma as a character a lot. this ask is going to be so long omg.
i was so pleasantly surprised when the texting layout popped up. love how tasuku invites him out for a drive like this time and the next time. he just goes with one thing. and i love how its bc like. he heard azuma say he liked the ocean or smthing so hes like. oh well why dont we go there all the time. when azuma asks abt how tasuku must've had a lot of choices post-leaving godza, I thought it was very interesting that he asks "did you come here for tsumugi?" and like... hm. I think its very telling. because azuma's reason, which he deflects in answering at this time, is that he's here because mankai is a place that feels like home and he loves being around the winter troupe. so i think hes instinctively looking for some justification of that feeling, but I think it's also like. i think azuma just wants that kind of thing for himself. someone going out of their way for you. like the way he keeps assuring tasuku that the play will be fine because like of course that's the concern and it's not like it's HIM that could be someone people would concern themselves with, right? ...it made me sad.
I think like, azuma's also so competent at deflecting that sort of yearning from himself, to the point that just looking at him, you wouldn't ever think he's lonely. the game describes azuma as sensual and mysterious, something which he's called often, and I think that description really hits the mark. like azuma carries this ethereal feeling because I think he deliberately acts like a person who could float and live anywhere. you'll never know a thing about him. he could be anyone, because he's not tied to anyone. but i also think he like. desperately wants to be tied down. he doesn't want to run away... he wants to be able to believe that he can capture a sense of belonging. and for sensual like i think azuma is obviously like. very beautiful etc but the i think its a very good choice that out of everyone else in a3, he's kind of the most explicitly touch-starved? what with his whole cuddling/sleeping with others occupations. like it's such a good dynamic. here's someone who is transcendental that wants, probably desperately more than anything, to be tied down by a home and held. i think he's also old enough that he's like, aware of it. this is verging on projection but like it’s really so hard because fundamentally it’s embarrassing! it’s embarrassing to want and desire so openly, to be around other people, especially when you're old enough to be so aware that people are not forever...
ah unrelated but i thought it was very interesting that homare's response to whether he liked acting was like. oh well liking is not really what i care about--it feels meaningful to me! such an in-character outlook, i felt. this was also very itaru-ish of azuma to do, I felt--feeling guilty that his reason for acting wasnt enough. i want so badly for act 2 to come along just so he gets a roommate honestly. like idk. azuma gets to go to practice every day and like see the way tasuku and tsumugi seem to know each other inside and out and see the weird marshmallow deals homare and hisoka have going on and its not that hes Alone or that winter as a whole is Not Close but i do wonder sometimes if hes like oh. i wish i had... more. but winter isn't really blunt about that kind of thing.
the scene where azuma says I’m home at his apartment but no one responds... the way it mirrors the beginning of the event. the way he explcitly was like i should visit my apartment again to get in touch with being as desperately lonely as reo is. the way he is so self-aware of his loneliness but unable to confront it... like it makes me sad. i liked how this event made a not eof how much more direct summer is in comparison lol... theyre really different! the way tasuku invites him out for a drive again and azumas like oh im not around. where i am is a secret. like what a neat way of being like... playful and not revealing anything about yourself bc vulnerability is so terrifying. but the way tasuku comes to the train station to walk with him and says welcome back to him. or the way tsumugi asks if it's difficult acting with tasuku and azuma says I'm sure he's havng a harder time acting with me. he should be frustrated with my acting. like he's too graceful to wallow but I think azuma definitely gives off this vibe of like. oh i have to be Good. i have to nice and pleasant. to make up for the fact that it's me beneath all of this. like when he sees hisoka in his room and says he doesnt have any marshmallows here but hisoka is here for HIM and gives him marshmallows. sighs and says they are a value pack. arisu is a cheapskate. azuma is continually reminded and perhaps tortured by the soft and subtle ways winter loves each other because i don't think he can see himself as Part Of It yet...
to the nicer stuff lol i love the “where are you now?” / “that’s a secret” exchange is basiacally the same as last time only this time tasuku is at his door. i adoreeee how tasukus script notes are abt what “would help azuma out the most” bc. god. thats so good. yeah. i have to bet thats why tsumugi asked azuma if it was hard--i think tasukus very concious nowadays of like, what is the best way to Match with others. oh and FINALLY when azumas like I told you I’d do a good job for the performance and tasuku says “that’s not what I was worried about” yes… yess!!!! “we may be able to pull of the play perfectly fine, but are you fine? it seems like something’s been bothering you.” yes!!!!
also the way azuma's like yes i frow my hair out in the hopes my brother will come back some day its like. AND YOU WANTED TO CUT IT??? AND YOU SAID IT SO CASUALLY??? but ah. thats really azuma. and “since reo welcomes his loneliness, I thought I’d be able to act the part better if I spent time alone again” HE DOESNT WELCOME IT THOUGH!! HE DOESNT LOVE IT!!! i am so glad they r all together now. but yea the way azuma feels like this side of him is weak and miserable even tho it is literally human. the way that even here hes like [laughs] after seeing tasuku try to reach out to me, it doesnt feel as embarrasing anymore like. the way hes still keeping it light. azumas va genuinely recorded the perfect laugh for his character. and i love that the end of this event is just them mostly resolving to be more open with each other. what this event also made me realize is wow.... winter troupe didnt know literally anything abt the tsumugi tasuku debacle OR azumas backstory until now! shows how little they dive into touchy subjects lol... i also totally wrote down sooo many of these dialogue lines bc they're. good. telling. like its so sweet. tasuku just plainly sincerely expressing how he felt, knowing tsumugi had given up on acting and how that felt like a betrayal, and how tsumugis like. well, its fine. since you said you love my acting, it's all fine.
also. “the spring troupe is like a family, the summer troupe like school friends, and the autumn troupe like comrades for the same cause. what does that make us, then?” i have seen this quoted before and thought that the "and winter troupe are married!" was just a fun joke and not the Actual Thing they say basically??? i do love the different configurations of like. relationships that go on in a3 truly. but genuinely i think marriage is actually a great way to describe winter troupe's relationship? like, they're all old enough and had enough various relationships that i feel like. for them its very much like. okay... whatever this is, I'll commit to it, and make it work, and I plan for it to last for a very very very very long time.
anyways I burst out laughing at homares horrible snoring. hisoka how do u live. everyones sleeping sounds r so in character. azuma also seeing that gorgeous lavender sky and realizing how beautiful it looks with like. the rest of the troupe there... it was so good. it makes sense he's never seen it that way, considering he was afraid of waking up to another morning alone. also how he asks tasuku "once I gather the courage to return there, could you come with me? just kidding, of course..." like!! gah. the way he can't yet visit his family's place for fear of being too lonely. the way he asks tasuku becuase he is vulnerable enough to believe in him but also the way he has to couch it in a just kidding. tasuku falling asleep before he can respond, and azuma being at a good enough place where not knowing the answer, just yet, won't terrify him. and he gets to say "good night, and sweet dreams," but unlike reo. he gets to see tasuku when the next day comes, too. he can believe a little harder that he's not an imposition.
now for a little chikage interlude pre-their actual performance. CHIKAGE IM WATCHING YOU. I BET HES WATCHING WINTER. i bet hes whoever sent that "im watching you" message to them!!! i have cottoned on!!! he's been overseas for a long time, he can recognize azuma on sight... i'm still placing my bets on assassin but spy, the more realistic option, is also working. "I’ve really taken a liking to your troupe." and you keep showing up for winter troup stuff in specific.... buying FLOWERS... no clue why they were zinnias bc i dont think thats hisokas or chikages flower but. im 100% sure he knows hisoka. bet pre amnesiac hisoka was like a co-assassin!! and to transition back to the play performance, izumi is like "I’ve always thought this, but he’s really good at acting" abt hisoka and there is me, banging pots and pans together: ITS BECAUSE!!! HES AN ASSASSIN!!!! (more realistically a spy)
nocturnality such a good play tho. the delicate relationship of not daring to overstep despite building smthing so fundamentally important to both of you. the way reo is so like. i cannot demand anything from kota but has been drinking his blood every night… also azuma being like "tasuku said he likes my hair long :)
" yes. but oh my godddd the "...that idiot" adlib TASUKU WHAT A DESTRUCTIVE ADLIB!!! when i first watched the play i was so moved by kota's desperation to stay with reo and when i saw that the ending just had reo gone and kota breaking down from emotion it was... moving, sure, but I wanted kota to retain that desperation. and i feel like this adlib rly brought some determination to the character. the way only someone you are deeply intimte with is someone you can so heart-wrenchingly call an idiot. the way it's an acknowledgment of how kota knows reo is lonely. that it's not just him. the play poster has that one line... "we're the same, you and i. this is our true nature" which is why me and my friends all assumed it would be abt TWO vampires. but it's not, and I think what that phrase means is like. human, vampire, whatever. these are two lonely people who want to love each other. thats what they are mirrors of. each other. they must be the same being in the end. and that's why even though kota has to let this other random vampire save and heal reo he is not going to let him go. or something. how wonderful.
now that I've gone through all the event plays I am gonna have to say that a clockwork heart is my favorite, just for how it mirrors the play and the real events, and the whole mizuno and tsuzuru dynamic is so well done. plus the fact that it gets to re-contextualize romeo and julius (when I got to the scene where mizuno is literally staring at tsuzuru on the balcony something CLICKED for me) is so good. clockwork heart and nocturnality as plays actually have lots of similarities in theming to me, in taht its about a human's bond with soemthing thats human-shaped but seen as unnatural and shouldn't exist. anyways, just a little more 'til act 2.... im excited!
HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII orghhhh Nocturnality. Nocturnality….. i'm famously Very Normal about Nocturnality so i'm going to try my best to answer this but. wow. so normal. Just reading through your ask once made me crazy emotional so 😭
Under cut because it already got long enough,
You pinpointing right away that Azuma and Sakuya would mesh…. there's actually a link skill (so, like Taichi and Tasuku have about being Godza people) when you put Azuma, Sakuya, and two others people (whom reasons to be here are for act 2 so i'll keep it at that) in the same group, and it's called "Lone Wolves: I've finally found the place where I belong.". Much to think about!!!!! But yeah definitely Azuma and Sakuya have a lot in common, orphan boys who lost their loving parents and then had to basically deal with relatives not wanting them around so they both became as pleasant and unimposing as possible. Except that for any stories where Winter gets to parallel one of the younger people, it's all about how Winter had to carry this coping so deep into adulthood that now it's too hard to move away from it, while the younglings are allowed to grow while this trauma had taken root sure but not already bloomed into a full. waves at what Azuma pulls yaknow. But god the infos about Azuma's brother too it's just. orhghhh Azuma……..
But yeah so he finally found a home there and you're right on so many points down the line about his loneliness and how much he fits him but i'm trying to go through the ask in order else it'll get messy but orhghhh Nocturnality…
AND YEAH FOR TASUKU YEAH!! he's SO GOOD at Support and he's been SO HAPPY about doing support now. And yeah like, right after the event with Taichi it stands out a lot. I'll just bring back too that a bit before the Halloween event there was the Beach event where Juza was cold toward Muku because he didn't know how to address his guilt, and while it was a team effort, Tasuku especially involved himself and insisted on /supporting Juza/ into showing Muku his feelings via play.
So it's been a pattern but what i find really interesting is that he was upfront about it for both Juza and Taichi but when it came to Azuma, he didn't know how to make it clear. And it all roots back to the fact that they had a major fight in the Winter Chapter. Remember that? During the whole "someone is spying on Mankai" situation, after Azuma temporarely left the company and then came back after his mental breakdown and being told Winter accepted him. Where Azuma just pointed out, hey, maybe Tasuku is the one who leaked out secrets without really realizing it because he was talking to an old friend, and Tasuku got so angry he snapped back that since Azuma was a whore (paraphrasing) perhaps HE'S the one who leaked secrets by talking to his clients. And Azuma was REAAAALLY pissed by this whole thing and when he started to get cold to Tasuku Tasuku started to realize oh shit my anger got the better of me and now this is bad. And this whole situation wasn't really solved by them apologizing to each other, in fact it kept escalating with Azuma also threatening to leave the company again because he was "so unreliable with how much he slept around due to his old job", which freaked Tasuku out. And i think it's important there at this point in Tasuku's journey to remember he was so wounded by being left behind by Tsumugi without knowing why, and blaming himself, that when Azuma started to close in and threaten to leave, Tasuku probably took it the really wrong way. This whole situation was solved with Homare's whole arc, but so, Tasuku and Azuma didn't exactly talk this shit out. They basically made a truce without apologizing and they've been pleasant to one another up until then.
But it's clear imo that Tasuku especially wanted to make it up to Azuma, and it's likely just Azuma had his walls PARTICULIARLY high around Tasuku because he felt betrayed for the one time he considered lowering them. So, I think it's fascinating to compare Tasuku's behavior toward Juza and Taichi, kids he decides to guide no matter what, to toward Azuma, because he genuinely wants to be here for Azuma but he feels the wall Azuma is putting between the two of them, and he feels responsible for it even being here because of how badly this one incident went.
This one incident drives me bonkers because it basically sets up why their dynamic is like that during Nocturnality even more so than just Azuma closing in: it's also because they don't know how to approach each other while by all account they're the duo who, up until now, in Winter, got along the least. And it's why Tasuku is trying so hard to take notes on his script without confronting Azuma about it either, and making things easier for him. Of course, he worries and is just bad at showing it, but Tasuku is also so unsure how to confront him again without making a mess. It's similar to how he felt unable to confront Tsumugi and orrghhhhh Tasuku….
Okay back to your ask,
The Masumi's scene was sO CUTE!!! This is what i mean when i say "Masumi is a good character when they let him do things outside of his obsession with Izumi", this whole bit was aDORABLE. And the implication he's looking out for Tsuzuru is just😭
I like your interpretation on the good night and sweet dreams's line reaction. I'll also rise that i've seen "good night and sweet dreams" used a lot also as something to say to people on their last breath as they die. As in, have a good eternal slumber. I think Tsuzuru isn't so innocent in that choice of line for Reo and Kota. Because in a way it's the immortal creature of the night, an undead, who makes this wishes of all the sweetest dreams to the person he's leaving behind, playing on the words we'd use for the departed but here, reversed as the meaning from Reo is "i want you to keep on living no matter what". Which is even MORE ironical because leaving Kota just leaves Kota in grief and orghhhhh Nocturnality………….
ABOUT THE PLAY THEN…. Honestly this is so fair, and the song goes even more into this interpretation with how they both sing together the drinking blood lines. I think it's mostly because, the Poster is set after Kota learns Reo is a vampire and we know Kota immediately jumped into wanting to be there for Reo no matter what and become a vampire himself. Kota was posing like "yeah i'm a vampire too, or at least i'm trying to convince my vampire boyfriend to turn me" and that's really sexy. But i find it so fun all your friends thought the same LDKJFDLKFJ
god. ReoKota. they're so fucking good. whole fist into my mouth. Like who talks like that; Tsuzuru is that how you see the Winter Troupe. You're always right but sTILL. On all the details you mention it's just so much, but, i'll ask you to put on a pin on the vampire HQ and remember it does exist. I have nothing really to add to everything you mention about the play itself it's just. god. this play is just way too good. But yeah i would have loved to see a bit more of them too, and i'm really glad you took upon you the hard duty of showing it as well. God. these two. I'm obsessed.
and helppp the hype 😭 But i TOTALLY agree and understand where you're coming from. Azuma and Hisoka have been my loves since the first Winter Chapter, but mainly in act 1 i focused on Azuma more, so i was terrified when Nocturnality came along too that i was overhyping it. Instead i cried so hard the whole way through i had to take breaks because of headaches. But i think you're on point with how Azuma feels like the odd one out and i do think it's on purpose, like you mention later, it's the touch starved one, the one who's so desperately yearning for love and connection, who still picked to self isolate. Because he saw the two duos that were arising at the time they picked the rooms and he considered well, he's used to loneliness, he can be lonely again, it's not like he can take place in either of these duos. god. But yeah this event does such a good job at expending on Azuma and giving him the proper room to breath. And i think it's like, when you make a character who's so kind that he looks open, but is actually extremely closed in because he's terrified of this intimacy he's yearning for, it's the kind of things you can only really show via slowburn and subtle details, so it makes Azuma so easy to overlook. But it's why i kept insisting on reading the event stories. I can't imagine jumping into act 2 without all of the character work those events worked so hard to develop, and Azuma especially is getting a lot out of it.
And HHHH THE DRIVING DATES. GOD. Remember how in the first winter chapter when Tasuku asks if anyone can drive Azuma is just "i prefer to be in the passenger seat" and Tasuku just rolls his eyes because his whole troupe is useless, and now he's just, hey, stay with me on the passenger seat? And for the ocean, yeah, i think Azuma brings it up when Hisoka asks them to stop at the beach as he's having memories. Tasuku at this point acts so annoyed at everyone and is focusing on Hisoka and i'm SURE Azuma just said something without really thinking anyone was listening to him, let alone Tasuku. So that's a nice continuity thing of how much Tasuku is paying attention to the people around him. (on a sidenote, this was one of the small reasons that got me pissed at the Winter anime adaptation dLKJDFLD The anime already cut Azuma and Hisoka's arc for the most part, and on the beach scene in question, they adapted it so that Tasuku and Tsumugi stay in the car to have a little gay drama on the side to tease their conflict. me, foaming in the mouth: where is Tasuku worrying about Hisoka. Where is Tasuku picking up the details Azuma drops about himself which serves then to build on Nocturnality. What are you DOING ANIME.) Tasuku is def the friend who hears you offhandedly mention liking something and then he rolls his eyes and then the next time you meet he got it for you. God. This guy.
The convo about Tasuku leaving the God Troupe hhhh god. You're totally right about Azuma asking about Tasuku's reasons. It's just. god, Azuma…. I do genuinely think that like, he admires that Tasuku is here for Tsumugi, he admires this type of love, but he would love someone to love him like that, like you said. I think part of him wished to hear "but i'm also here because i love all of the Winter Troupe, you included" or something that shows Azuma is also a priority in other people's lives. Because despite how nice and sweet Azuma can be, how much he's been a support to anyone, he closes himself in and fades in the background so much he doesn't have strong bonds with anyone or so he thinks and god it hurts. fist in mouth Sorry if i cannot be too coherent about Azuma i'm realizing trying to type all of that that i'm still crying thinking about his arc and goddamn, the line between projecting and relating has truly blurred past comprehention to me.
But god everything you say about Azuma. yeah. yeah… yeah. I think also that, Azuma is so touch starved so he turned to cuddling, but this touch starving is such a manifestation of how he's yearning to be close and intimate with people, and he can comprehend this intimacy on a physical level, but on an emotional level he just cannot make himself vulnerable enough for that. So i think in a way it might make his touch starving even worse because it means, he's getting so close to getting it, he's extending others the intimacy he would love to receive, but he puts himself in a situation where he denies it to himself. So his needs are not fulfilled and in a way i think he probably ends up starving even more, no matter how much he cuddles up at work and stuff. But yeah no i totally 100% agree with you and it's embarassing and it's muffled screaming into hands Azuma……………. And on top of the loneliness, yeah, god. I mean, Azuma basically grew up with the idea of, people will leave your life when you least expect it, so better be ready for it to happen. Better not form close attachement else it will hurt once it's gone. And we know his relatives didn't really want to keep him around so it adds to the fact of just feeling like you cannot form any type of attachement. And he carried that into adulthood and now it's just, he convinced himself loneliness was the only thing he could get. And he could banter up with it by the touching and cuddling, but the loneliness remains.
But yeah omg the Homare bit is so good 😭 and this is the second time you're comparing Azuma and Itaru this is amazing. Let them do more things together!! But i do think you're on point with their guilt over how the reason their acting isn't good enough to them.
"i want act 2 to come along just so he gets a roommate honestly"
THIS WAS ME THE ENTIRE TIME HELPPPP. The moment Azuma said that he had panic attacks at night when he slept alone in the first Winter Chapter i was just "oh my god can the Winter rookie come already you can't leave him alone like that" and i've waited ever since, non stop, for this new chara to show up. Now my feelings for when it happens are REDACTED for spoilers reason but holy shit. Holy shit…. But yeah like Azuma stands out even more so, he's already so lonely and while Winter is a big group and stuff, it's true by act one they're mostly divided by two duos and Azuma on the side. I think Nocturnality changes that around quite a bit, as Tasuku goes out of his way to be here for Azuma and all of Winter are making their efforts to be there for him, but yeah, up until this point, Azuma had all the reasons to feel like the odd one out.
god Azuma coming back to his old flat. fist in mouth fist in mouth f- But yeah it sure works to show how much Winter is very undirect with talking about their feelings. I think it's here from the start but it can easily be seen, esp after Summer and Autumn's fights, as a lack of conflict that they're just this indirect and taking their bad emotions upon themselves. I think the Winter events, especially Nocturnality, and especially Azuma, do a good job showing how much this is just as much of a conflict and possibly just as harmful. I think Azuma is, in the end, surprisingly, the one who therefore makes the situation worse for Winter, because he does have a habit of not talking about what is wrong and, before you know, suddenly he disappeared and you don't know how to approach him without being a little blunt. So out of everyone, it's Azuma's way to just try to make as little fuss and disappear that can make everything about the Winter dynamic more difficult. so i think it's also telling that solving at least part of this issue was with Tasuku, since in a way Tasuku is much more blunt and its his outbrusts that caused Winter to have to face each other and their conflict in previous stories. Unstoppable Force VS Unmovable Object.
" I think azuma definitely gives off this vibe of like. oh i have to be Good. i have to nice and pleasant. to make up for the fact that it's me beneath all of this. "
oroghhhh yeah.. yeah!! Once again i was mentioning earlier, but let's remember that when his parents died Azuma was told clearly by his relatives that he would be a burden to them. I don't think they even made clear if he stayed with some relatives (he must have right? i mean he was just a kid) until he could get a place he could live in alone, but therefore, the comparaison with Sakuya is even more stark in that sense of: he probably had to be good and pleasant and take as little space as possible, not cause any problem, handling everything on his own so his presence isn't a burden, doesn't come noticed as much. And i genuinely feel like there's part of it in the way he behaves there as the lead, of, trying so much to disappear behind being as good and as little of a problem as possible, so perhaps he won't burden anyone by the crime of, you know, being alive and existing. God the Hisoka scene tho Hisooo 😭 he worries so much for Azuma it's so cute. Even if yeah he has to bring it up back to Homare but man. man.
YEAH MAN THAT EXCHANGE IS SO GOOD. AT THE DOOR I MEAN. gOd Tasuku coming forth showing he's both a fantastic theater support AND a good friend support. god.
The hair thing drives me insane too bc it's not even the first time he brings it up, he also mentions eventually cutting it in the backstage of his SR for My Master Mesmerized by Mystery. I think Azuma has been kind of… on a line, basically, on that topic. I feel like if he cut his hair, he would have to face right away that there is no one who could come back to him. I think he holds on to that feeling so much. And a part of him would be betraying what his brother loved just to try to move on. I think cutting his hair would be the worst thing for his mental health, and in a way, he toys with the idea of basically destroying himself because, what if it means he can more easily rebuild himself? I also think it adds to the significance of Azuma being the one to chose to have his hair short in MMMBM. Because he's playing a brother who had to kill his sibling in order to set them free. As such, i feel like, since Azuma was the one who could pick the hairstyle he wanted, this was his way to show how he'd basically give up on any foolish thought of his brother being alive, by all account, killing him in the last way possible. That perhaps it could set them both free. but MMMBM does end with the idea still that the death wasn't the solution and that Azuma's chara ruined his own life and his possibility to bond with other people. As such, i think that the idea is that this would not actually be freeing for him to do so and would instead just make things worse.
But yeah back to the scene itself and yeah god. God that whole scene is so much. I really love how the conflict is solved by all of winter coming together too. While Tasuku does the heavy lifting it's all of Winter that has to extend to Azuma that, no, he has a place with them, and they want him with them. And i love that it means they can open up to each other sobs. The Tasuku and Tsumugi scene was especially soft.
""“the spring troupe is like a family, the summer troupe like school friends, and the autumn troupe like comrades for the same cause. what does that make us, then?” i have seen this quoted before and thought that the "and winter troupe are married!" was just a fun joke and not the Actual Thing they say basically??? ""
SURPRISEEEEE "i can hear the wedding bells!" like okay??? me too??? moment that made me go from shipping duos to "actually Fuyupoly rules". I'm feeling insane. But genuinely Homare going on about how they're soulmates designed to meet each other and how Azuma and Tasuku joke about it at the end and how "yeah perhaps he's right" i'm feeling insane i'm feeling insane im- but i do agree that marriage is what fits them most, it's like, this choice they keep on making to try to make it work. In a way it faces even more how much it's a real work to go through with it. guhhhhh them. them. God i love them so much i'm ghnnnn
So funnily, i think it's one of his base Backstage but Hisoka mentions very early on that he doesn't want any gifts like, pillows or plushies or eyebands because he wants to be able to sleep anywhere in any situation whatsoever. And, like the stray cat he is, we've seen that people have Basically Been Ignoring That (if you can look at his R backstage in the Into the Night- where he basically gets his first real plush and suddenly it's all hell breaks loose) and now Hisoka is just, extremely picky about where he sleeps. In his R Nocturnality backstage you find out Hisoka is going more and more extreme in ways to find sleep. So i figure that: Hisoka would have stand with Homare's snoring at first. But probably not anymore. Not now that he sleeps with plushies and pillows and eyebands and everything. Please save him.
but orghhh the next morning and the way he asks for Tasuku to come with him but Tasuku is already asleep. In my mind rentfree everytime. And this is where Tasuku and Azuma's relationship really changed since, like i mentioned, before this event they were still distant toward one another, and now Azuma trusts Tasuku with the most vulnerable side of himself, even if he still brushes it off a bit. Like god. these two.
" and he gets to say "good night, and sweet dreams," but unlike reo. he gets to see tasuku when the next day comes, too. he can believe a little harder that he's not an imposition. "
CRYING IN THE FUCKING CLUB THANK YOU
Okay let's stop with the man that always make me cry. let's go talk about the man that always make me g- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA muffles screams with hand i'm so normal i'm so normal i'm s- god the fact Chikage's presence in this event is him seeing Azuma in the street at night and immediately realizing it's him and going at Itaru, how come a member of your troupe is out there alone? isn't he in the winter troupe? Why isn't the rest of his troupe with him? And Itaru is just huh, okay, weird you picked it up but alright, and that then Chikage asks if he can come see the next play. Like. Mhmmmmmm. MHMMMM. For the records, a3 is always very careful about the use of its flower languages and Chikage's bouquets all had a specific meaning so far. I won't share them because it's likely it'll spoil a little of his deal, but it's worth coming back to it once you get to know him. (More in the sense of the devs made sense of the bouquet, whenever Chikage knows what the flowers means or not are up to interpretation… or at least to pick up once you've read his deal). Obviously i can't say more but we're getting closer in closer to having an answer and, i, for one, am hype. But god. GODD. I'm not saying anything i'm not saying anything i'm not goes back to yell in my hands that's fine i'm good i'm good i'm,
NOCTURNALITY IS SO GOOD and it does so mcuh to parallel Azuma and Tasuku. ALSO AZUMA THAT TASUKU SAID THAT ABOUT HIS HAIR. back to what i was saying, so far he's associating keeping his hair long with staying afloat, giving himself hope his brother might come back, and cutting it would hurt him right? i think this adds a layer even more so, that, by the hair being a promise that his brother might come back, keeping his hair long is also a promise that he will not always be alone, and that he will have people who'd come back to him. and Tasuku in his silly sleepy ramblings, gave him exactly that. I think in that moment it was a healthier way to move forward how Azuma felt about his hair than to cut it to try to move on: this way, indeed, hair is home, in the sense that someone cares about him enough that he cares about what Azuma would do with his hair. Fucking insane event i swear to god. THE "… THAT IDIOT" ADDLIB, TASUKU YOU KING. You're totally right i think this addlib changes everything and i'll have something very important to say about it a bit later, so, let's see you in a bit. and yess yo'ure totally correct about the thematic of the play and how they mirror each other and hjjjdgfhkdghf ReoKota my beloved. I can"t deal with it.
Okay so here, i have TWO things i need you to watch on top of everything. In case you didn't know so far, the SSR Backstage for the Lead Actor of the Play serves as an Epilogue to the play. It depends exactly play by play how it goes: the ones i'm familiar with for act 1 are only the summer ones and Nocturnality, but for instance, Sardine Search involves Kuro and Shiro accidentally finding themselves in the Mankai backyard and meeting Yuki and Kazunari. Sky's Pirate is the whole of summer talking together about what they would wish the sequel to Sky's Pirate would be, all of them adding a bit of their own flair to it.
Nocturnality's. is. SO important. You need to watch it. this is a threat. Here's the link. it's SO important you need to come back to me when you read it.
Also on another side i really want you to read Tasuku's N for this event because it's genuinely so funny. I love him so much. IT's one of my favorite backstage ever
Okay now back to the ask. Clockwork Heart is a fantastic play and event, i totally feel you there. It's one of my fav of this brunch too because it works so well at recontextualizing Tsuzuru and also Citron, and Mizuno is such a good chara to add to this whole bit. Nocturnality remains my personal fav because i'm soooooooooooo normal, but god.
Tbh like, i keep on insisting people read the events before jumping to act 2, and more often than not i've met a bit of…. resistance? kinda? because the events start out a bit slow. And it was for a reason too, since it was to let some times for the new players to catch up on the main story before dumping all sort of heavy things at them. But therefore i'd say that, while they're very good, i think it's possible to not find the first 3 events that captivating: like they explore the chara, sure, but it's not comparable to the feelings of the main story. Once you reach The Stranger though i think the events don't pull any punches anymore and all of them add so much to the way you read those chara. And frankly the whole bunch of the 3rd plays are so important imo, they give so much insight on everything i can't imagine skipping them. But i generally don't manage to argue that with people who tends to get bored after the first two events and jump to Act 2 and then they get confused while i'm just. no. come back.
So i'm genuinely glad you enjoyed the events and how much there is into them. they're so so good. And it's true that the thematic are similar in a sense, and i think it's a bit on purpose but i can't really adventure myself too much in details.
BUT YEAH. thank you for sharing your thoughts as always and thank you so much for making me relive this heartshattering experience. It was a blast <333
Take care and see you around :3c

Act 11 - Cast Talk Translation
Tumblr media
A reviewed version of the translation I made a while ago since anniversary is coming. Thanks Noodle for your help with some lines. If there are more mistakes, please let me know (´。• ᵕ •。`)
Title: Doug’s Right-hand Man
Tumblr media
Banri: That said, today’s lesson is over.
Tasuku: It ended up being a worthwhile lesson since all of us from Autumn and Winter Troupe could luckily gathered.
Tsumugi: It could gives us the chance to see the moves as if it were in the real one, only a few times we can gather this amount of people.
Taichi: About that part, all of us here in the lesson room makes it cramped~
Hisoka: It feels even smaller than usual. Finding a place to sleep is a problem.
Homare: You say that, but were you not sleeping soundly in there during the breaks between your scenes?
Azuma: Fufu, making sure to get sleeping time, it’s good for the skin. Azami will compliment you for that
Azami: He gets a proper amount of sleep, but in his case, he needs to be careful about too much sugar.
Sakyo: Since you mention about it, someone from our troupe, after practice ends, immediately eat sweet things.
Tumblr media
Juza: …nom…nom.
Banri: Oi, Hyodo. You… What are you bringing to the practice room?
Juza: It’s not that. Omi-san…
Omi: I prepared some cupcakes before practice to eat them with everyone from the Winter Troupe. I just bring them.
Tsumugi: Woah, I was hungry during the practice. I’m happy with these sweets.
Tasuku: You’re right, it makes you hungry. Fushimi, thanks.
Azuma: Amazing, you made decorations of planets and stars for the cupcakes. Kazu would be love them
Hisoka: This is a marshmallow comet…? Looks delicious.
Omi: I did them not only for role study, I wanted to try making sweets with space motif as well.
Homare: How wonderful…! Planet at the top of the cake, Saturn’s ring sliding~♪
Guy: As expected of Fushimi. The decorations look like they were out of a photo. Please tell me about the process for reference later.
Omi: Of course.
Tumblr media
Taichi: So good! Even in ANIMS, I bet the whole crew would come to love dessert if you brought them out delicious sweets like these!
Juza: You’re right, maybe the desserts Woll make are Tig’s favorites.
Sakyo: A space pirate with a sweet tooth, doesn’t that sound soft?
Homare: Even so, I think the gap is absolutely wonderful.
Azami: Maybe he unexpectedly have it, and he is just distinctive in the appearance.
Banri: Well yeah, the story doesn’t tell it, but he could have it in his many characteristics.
Guy: Indeed. There is more about the character's past that isn’t discussed. We subconsciously think of a lot after doing role study as well.
Tsumugi: Each of the space police and the space pirates seems to have their own deep story.
Sakyo: Now that I think it, Minagi also said it wasn’t possible to add in the script everything Hakaku-san left behind.
Omi: Maybe they were problematic for the length, it seems like there were too many scenes and lines that had to be taken out.
Azuma: I see, well that’s a shame. After all, they are wonderful characters.
Tumblr media
Taichi: Ah, in that case, what about asking Director-sensei and Tsuzuru-kun to write a spin-off about ANIMS?
Homare: Hm, not only for ANIMS, the space police also seems to have a lot of things to show.
Hisoka: The story of Marine looking for space marshmallows…
Azuma: Fufu, we don’t know if that will be a short or long story.
Azami: Tsuzuru would gladly write them, but isn’t it a bit early for that?
Tasuku: What Izumida says make sense, first it’s the part one of the play.
Sakyo: If we want to one day bring a spin-off, we need to make the fans look forward it.
Guy: If we get through like this, the performance will certainly turn out well. I shall continuously devote myself to this as well.
Juza: Each of us should do our best for the upcoming Mankai Show.
Tsumugi: All of us are going to support you as the main actor, Banri-kun. Let’s keep doing our best until we show it in the stage.
Banri: Of course. All of you just follow me, I’m going with all since the first day to get that quality.
