sugawara koshi:
sugawara loves your hair, he thinks it’s beautiful and so different to what he usually sees in japan that he’s very interested in your haircare routine
when it’s wash day and you mumble about how tiring you find it, sugawara is quick to wrap his arms around you, resting his chin on your shoulder as he looks up at you pleadingly
“let me help.” he offers, kissing your cheek. who would say no to that?
he will sit in the bathroom with you, putting on some music and chatting away to you as you spray your hair with water
probably being the cheeky one he is, he offers to spray your hair but instead uses it as an opportunity to squirt water in your face, giggling when you playfully scream his name and spray water back at him
he helps you separate your hair into sections, using his close proximity to pepper your face with kisses
whilst you lather up shampoo on one section, sugawara does the other, watching you diligently
he’s very careful, often asking you ‘am i doing it okay?’ to which you reassure him that he’s doing it great and his fingers feel very soothing on your hair
if you think sugawara doesn’t dunk your head under the showerhead when you’re rinsing it out then i don’t know what to tell you because he definitely does
but of course it’s fair when you take the showerhead and spray it at him, making him cry out with laughter as he shields his face
you’re both drenched at the end but sugawara takes a towel to dry the water off your face first, smiling and cooing to press a kiss on the tip of your nose after he’s pat your face dry
whilst you lather up the deep conditioning mask on your hair, sugawara goes to make you food so when you’ve secured on your shower cap, you can have a snack
you spend the time letting your hair soak in conditioner eating food with him and watching tv
sugawara teases you about the shower cap- “you look like a grandma.”
“you look like a granddad with your hair.” you remark with a teasing scowl
sugawara is too cautious about detangling your hair as he doesn’t want to hurt you. he opts to sit next to you as you brush your hair out gently, scrolling through reddit and reading out weird anecdotes people have posted on there about weird people they knew in high school
this is the bit where you genuinely start to reconsider ever asking sugawara to help you on wash day
but once you’re ready to moisturise your hair with oil he helps again, pressing the oil into your locks but he won’t stop sniffing your hair, smiling as he tells you how nice you smell
carefully twists your locks, copying your movements with his tongue sticking out in concentration aww
pretends the blowdryer is a gun when he’s handing it to you
once you’re all done, sugawara presses his face into your hair, giving you a sweet kiss and telling you how beautiful you look
tsukishima kei:
Tumblr media
tsukishima never mentions your hair and the plain reason is he doesn’t care how you look- he thinks you’re stunning the way you are and you and him connect emotionally, that’s all he needs
he’s a little confused when you ask him to help you on wash day because he isn’t sure what you mean but agrees nonetheless, his lips twitching into a small smile when he sees the way you grin at him
tsukishima isn’t sure how to get involved so he stands hesitantly in the corner of the bathroom as you lay out your products and when you notice his hesitance, you shoot him a soft smile in the mirror
“do you want to help me rinse my hair?” he nods in response, gently running the showerhead through your hair as you sit with your head tilted back. he also slowly detangles what he can with his fingers, smiling at you when you both lock eyes
he isn’t always big on physical affection but he thinks you look cute with your face upside down to him so he gives you a quick peck on the forehead
tsukishima will hold your hair clips for you as you section your hair
but he doesn’t actually help you lather your hair up in shampoo, instead sitting by your side and asking you questions about your hair and wash day
again, once it comes to rinsing out the shampoo he is there to gently wash out the suds, his fingers massaging circles into your scalp as you close your eyes at the warm sensation of the water running over your hair
when the deep conditioner is all lathered up in your hair, you and tsukshima go prepare some lunch
and after you’ve ate, it’s time to detangle your hair before you wash out the conditioner. even though tsukishima can hit a volleyball good, i think he has a gentle hand so you ask him to brush through your hair slowly, detangling your strands carefully as you sit on his lap
after you’ve washed the conditioner out and you’re squirting oil into your hair you accidentally spill some. tsukishima definitely snickers at you and you hear a low teasing ‘dumbass’ from him
you complain that you’re hungry but your fingers are busy twisting your hair into locks so tsukishima feeds you snacks, sighing heavily
“you’re really spoilt, you know that?” he’ll sigh as he feeds you the chip, groaning when you lick his finger
he ends up helping you twist your hair so that you can finish quicker and feed yourself your own snacks
i won’t lie, he’ll be exhausted but he knows you’re way more tired than he is but he holds out, taking over blowdrying your hair when your arms get tired
he finds it’s all worth it because at the end he smiles wide
“you look really pretty.” your body goes warm with the compliment, knowing it’s the utter truth when it comes from him

Okay so regarding the thing I reblogged from @saturnmoon last Sunday >:)))))
I thought it’d fit better as a scenario instead of hcs, so apologies if this isn’t what you wanted exactly-
Tumblr media
Thank you, daddy// Tsukishima x reader
Word count: 1700+
Warnings: None, tiny bit suggestive at the end, but I’m gonna let your imagination do the job.
Summary: Questionable names should stay in the bedroom.
Your face burns scarlet as you walk through the empty streets, white box in hand and a very, very flustered Tsukishima next to you.
“I’m sorry, okay? I was joking!”
No reply. All you get is a side glance behind his steel black glasses.
How did you get into this situation, you may ask?
Well.
It all started when Tsukishima decided to get the two of you matching headphones.
You see, Tsukishima’s pretty subtle when it comes to affection. He doesn’t want people viewing him as soft, or as Nishinoya says, a simp. He shows the absolute bare minimum amount of affection, pda never happens, and he doesn’t like to talk about his private life with classmates. Some may argue that he dates you out of boredom or pity, and doesn’t give a flying shit about how you feel about him. Others might not even know of your relationship. However, regardless of what everyone else says, the two of you care for each other deeply. You were like a bunch of helium balloons in his hand, flying as high as you can, seeking out opportunities, dreaming of possibilities, bringing up his spirits whenever he was down. In return, Tsukishima was the one holding you down, bringing you back to Earth whenever you were too carried away. Contrasting personalities mixed to form an amazing relationship. It was quite literally the definition of opposites attract.
However, the two fo you are very different when it comes to your views on normal things couples do. You don’t like being cheesy. At all. Just the thought of someone making a grand confession, or asking you out in an extravagant and crazy way in front of people was enough to make you want to shove a finger down your throat and retch. On the other hand, although Tsukshima doesn’t show much affection towards you around his friends, he’s secretly a big fat romantic dork. The only reason why he didn’t confess to you in front of the entire school was probably because he wasn’t about to sacrifice his dignity and ruin his image. He’d always see couples in the hallways sporting matching accessories. Whether it be promise rings, or keychains, or even glasses, and secretly think it’s adorable. Knowing how you dislike cheesy and cliche moves however, he holds back and keeps those thoughts in his deepest fantasies, never to be seen by anyone else but himself.
Anyways, back to your tricky situation. When I said he shows the absolute bare minimum amount of affection, that means that he only rarely holds your hand in places with people that know the two of you, almost never kisses you in public, and at last, but not least, rarely gives you gifts. He always thought his affection for you was enough, and it wasn’t like you’ve ever gotten him any presents either. He simply didn’t care about materialistic gifts. You don’t really mind that he doesn’t get you gifts either. As long as he treats you for food, you’re all good. Once in a while, you’d try to treat Tsukishima, but he would never let you pay for him. He would always reach the cashier first and pay for whatever he was getting. He didn’t want you to pay for his stuff, not when you didn’t want him to pay for yours either. That would be unfair. It was a weird relationship, to be frank. Not having mementos of your partner wasn’t a usual thing.
It wasn’t until his headphones broke, did he finally succumb to the idea of matching with you. He’s been using his headphones for years without any problems. He wore them to school every day, used them while doing homework, and has slept with them on at some point. It was no surprise the speakers would eventually give out. When they broke, Tsukishima was beyond miserable. These were his headphones. His most prized possession. He treasured them so much, it was almost heartbreaking to have to replace them. Not even you understood how much they meant to him. You were beyond confused when he called you at night, crying. You thought he got hurt or something, when in reality, it was just his headphones breaking. If someone asked, you could still repeat the entire phone conversation word for word. You thought it was both hilarious and a bit heart wrenching, to say the least. You promised to bring him headphone shopping today, even insisting on paying for them, which he immediately refused to let you. Instead, once he got to the store, he basically zoomed to the headphone section, looking through it excitedly. When his eyes landed on a pair of black and white headphones, he swiftly grabbed two of them, shoving one of them into your hands.
What?
“Hm? You’re getting two? That’s really expensive, plus a pair will suffice for like another five years!”
“No, dumbass, this is for you, I’m just making you hold onto it while I grab my wallet.
You looked down at the box in your hands, then back up at your boyfriend, eyes wide in disbelief. He was getting you a gift? For the first time in the few months you’ve been dating for? And you haven’t given him anything at all? Ever? There was no way. You knew your boyfriend like the palm of your hand. He would never just buy you a gift, let alone such an expensive one. To say you were shocked would be an extreme understatement. His face was dusted a light shade of pink that was almost unnoticeable in the dark store, where the only light sources were the LED lights that were set to white.
“Kei, you’re for real right now? I don’t want you to waste your money for me-”
“I want to match with you. I love you and I don’t like that it seems like I don’t put in effort at all.”
Tsukishima was now a blushing, flustered mess. He wasn’t even able to look you in the eyes. His heart was racing, anticipating your reaction. Did you hate the idea? Were you freaked out? Grossed out, even? What if you hated the thought and decided to break it off with him? What if he just screwed up big time and embarrassed himself? What if-
“OH MY GOD! KEI SWEETIE THAT’S SO CUTE! THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOU! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE ACTUALLY INTO MATCHING!”
You went silent for a moment, before continuing.
“But... I feel bad. I’ve never gotten you anything, and here you are, gifting me a pair of expensive ass headphones.”
Tsukishima’s blush faded, a tiny smile gracing his face.
“The only thing you have to do is wear them with me. Promise me that.”
Sending him a cheeky smile, you linked your pinkie with his playfully.
“Promise.”
Pinkies still linked, the two of you headed towards the cashier, where a line of people were waiting to check out. You continued to show your gratitude towards your boyfriend, hugging his arm and cuddling it like a teddy bear. His heart melted at the sight of you being an absolute cutie. This is the most pda he’s received in public. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as he thought it was. He could try it out sometime. Poking your nose jokingly, he smiled, mocking you playfully.
“I’m getting you a pair of headphones shorty, can I get another thank you? It was cute when you said it just now.”
Smirking at his subtle joke regarding your height, you retorted, puckering up your lips.
“Thank you dadddddyy~”
The store went silent.
Tsukishima’s mouth hung wide open, his eyes frantically looking around as his face went bright red. Customers stopped what they were doing, some of them in the middle of paying for their products. From the corner of your eyes, you could see a child’s ears and eyes being covered by his mom, who was glaring daggers towards the two of you. A couple of old men sent judgemental looks your way, silently discussing how teenagers this day are corrupted and unreliable. The cashiers were clearly shocked, staring at the two of you, brows either furrowed, or raised. The store was so quiet you could probably hear a pin drop. You let go of Tsukishima’s arm instantly, letting your arms fall, the headphones still in hand. Recovering from the incident, customers continued to chatter amongst themselves,  cashiers continued to check items out, however you and Tsukishima stayed dead silent. The tension in the store could have been cut with a knife. Customers were avoiding your gazes, shuffling along towards the exit as soon as their products were in the bag.
“I definitely said that too loudly didn’t I.”
Tsukishima didn’t say a word, his face still crimson as he tightly shut his mouth, pursing his lips.
Approaching the cashier, he grabbed both boxes, not saying a word as he handed them to the cashier along with the money. Once that was done, he shoved one of the boxes into your arms, grabbing your vacant hand and dragging you out of the store, legs moving as quick as they could.
So now, you’re stuck in an awkward ass situation, with a flustered, silent Tsukishima. He hasn’t said a word since the two of you left the store, and that’s making you feel all sorts of ways.
His house is mere miles away. You can see the lights in the living room illuminating the area around it. Speeding up, you struggle to catch up with him, your shorter legs starting to sprint desperately.
Pulling you into the house, he slams the door behind him, locking it.
You don’t even have the chance to catch your breath, when a hand tickles your neck, before gripping on it tightly and pushing you harshly, your back forcefully hitting the wall behind you as the impact makes you hiss in pain. The headphones in your hand drop to the ground, toppling over. You open your eyes, only to be met with Tsukishima’s shit eating smirk.
“K-Kei?”
Forcing you into a harsh kiss, he assaults your lips, biting and sucking occasionally. You grasp at his hand, panting and gasping for air, but gave up as you came to the realisation that you enjoyed this. You enjoyed being choked by him.
The blond chuckled at your struggling figure, eyes going dark.
“If you really wanted to call me daddy, you could’ve told me long ago sweetheart.”
You were in for a long, long night, and honestly? You weren’t complaining.

Hiii can you do fluffy first years Hc's? Maybe as third years as well?
Hi!! Thank you so so SO much for coming to ask me! I can definitely do that!
Hinata: He does small but sweet things for you everyday. Leaves small notes on your locker, always finds things to compliment you on, sends texts about everything that happened to him during the day and then asks how your day went, and there’s always some snacks from the vending machine on your desk in the morning.  He also has a small habit of hooking your pinkies together. You know. Soft things. As a third year, he starts to show you off a lot every time you do something that he sees as cool. Like, you aced a test once and he beams so brightly while pulling you into a hug and tell everyone in a 10 foot radius how amazingly smart his s/o is.
Kageyama: He’s kinda awkward at first so he tries to be nice by buying you some milk whenever he goes to get some for himself. He gets hella embarrassed whenever you slip your hands into his as you walk to your next class. Speaking of, he always accompanies you to class and home because he wants to make sure you are safe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a third year, nothing much changes other than the fact he can actually smile normally around you now and not look like a person who just set a house full of puppies on fire You’re always a sucker for his small and genuine smiles.
Tsukishima: The tol blond tsundere tries to keep his natural stoic and annoyed face around you, but he can’t seem to hold back a small smile or laugh when he’s around you. The rest of the team is S H O O K when they actually see Tsukishima laugh freely because who is this sorceress that has unlocked the unbreakable puzzle that is Tsukshima Kei. He secretly tries to subtly show off during the practices and games when you’re around. He actually tries to put a little effort into his playing and you always cheer whenever he shuts someone out. As a third year, he got into this habit of pulling you into a secluded area and hugging you tightly. He kinda sees it as a thing that’ll help him play better and give him good luck. You like to tease him about it and he gives you one of his signature “tchs”’s.
Yamaguchi: You two do so many cute oh my god-
So you’ve been coming to his games since first year and every time he makes a serve over, you always cheer the loudest because that is YOUR pinch server right there. He looks up to the stands and smiles whenever he sees you. It makes him feel calm, and he always does his best whenever you’re around. When you both grow up into third years, he becomes a lot more comfortable expressing his love for you in public. Nothing much, just hugs, hand holding, and an occasional kiss on the forehead. He’s still very blushy while it all happens though. Definitely the type to stay up til 1 am on a call or facetime because he cares about you so much.
Once again, thank you so much for requesting me for this ask!! Hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day!

For your Tsukkiyama friendship head canon. What is Tsukki’s reaction to finding out Yamaguchi eats alone most nights and is basically poor. Is Yamaguchi up front about it or ashamed? How about when they grow up and are in high school? Is Yamaguchi family financial situation better or are there still struggles?
Thanks for the comment :D It makes my day! LONG POST COMING UP ;)
I have some HC about the Yamaguchi Family.
Yamaguchi Kanami divorced from Tadashi’s father before Yama was born. He was just not good for neither of her and Kanami didn’t want to bring in her unborn baby to a man that didn’t want anything to do with him. She has it much better without them, Tadashi too.
Kanami got pregnant at a young age, when she had just started uni. She had to drop out, but managed to get work afterwards. Also, she and Tadahsi lived in a pretty small apremtnemt together. They had to pull out their futons each night and sleep next to each other in the common room (search Clannad, Tomoya apartment).
Before she divorced, she worked as a home-nurse (those who help disabled, old etc people at home or nursing homes.) and one office job.
I imagine they lived in Osaka or Tokyo before they moved. Kanami got a promotion for her office job in Sendai and she and Tadashi packed their things and moved to Miyagi.
They got a bigger apamrntet. Two bedrooms, for the first time in his life, Tadashi had his own room. Kanami had to lie with him every night for two weeks before he managed to sleep by himself.
Kanami takes on a lot of evening and late night shift, sometimes even night shifts if money is tight or she want’s to earn a little bit more, becuse they pay more than just regular hours. Her office job pays ok, she wishes it was more. But as for now, they managed just fine.
Also, I feel like since Yamaguchi and his mother were so close when he was little, they are still very close when he grow up and reach adolescence. Of course they argue and such, that is what family do. But Tadashi never brings up his living conditions as an argument. He understands that for them to be able to  live like they do now, his mother has to work like she does. it sucks sometimes. especially since she sometimes have to work on important days like his birthday, or holidays. He grows up, and maybe he gets a part time job in the end of junior high or even at Shimadas shop to make it easier. As Kanami said, Tadashi is too easy to deal with sometimes.
It does get better. Eventually. Kanami gets promoted at her office job, but still works as a home-nurse. But she isn't so tired and has a little  more time for her son. They stay in the small apartment, because they both feel  like that is their home. And getting help from the Tsukishima’s helped too. She is not so stressed over Tadashi’s well being when he is home alone- because he will always be at his best friends house when he would be alone home. It’s rescuing that he has someone other than her when she can’t be there for him.
Now, to the actual ask :D
Yamaguchi’s and Tsukishima’s friendship started small. They would pair up in Volleyball practice, spend lunch together and walk to and from school- meeting at an intersection were their paths crossed.
It wasn’t until a week after the bully-incident, that the topic of dinner came.
“We are going to have pork curry. I love it.” Tsukishima said. While they approached the the intersection.
“Thats sound good.” Yamaguchi said, looking up at his friend. “I am just going to have instant noodles since Ka-chan are working late.”
“Do-do you eat alone often?”
Yamaguchi nodded. And that was all it took. Suddenly, Yamaguchi was being dragged the other way, away from his home. He tried to get his friend to stop, but Tsukki was too tall for him to have any impact. I don’t want to be an intrusion. Yamaguchi had muttered once they approached a big house. It looked like a small castle. You are not, I am sure of it.
“Oka-san, Tou-san, Tadaima.” Tsukishima had yelled out load into the big house.
A lady, with a long bob came out from what Tadashi though was the common room. She smiled warmly at them, although she looked a little surprised to have a guest. Kei, is this your friend? Yamaguchi stepped forwards body trembling. He managed to choke out his name and a decent greeting of his name. He bowed for the woman.
“Yamaguchi was going to eat noodles for dinner since his mother aren't home.”
“Well, then. Nice to meet you, Yamaguchi-kun.” She smiled warmly at him. Dinner would be ready in half an hour. As the thirty minutes wen buy, Kei showed him his room. It was big, filled with books, dinosaurs and other toys. A big bed and even a big desk and a small table. They started their homework, but in the middle of it; they were called for dinner.
Yamaguchi walked slowly down the stairs, behind Tsukishima. “Where is Nii-Chan?” He asked. Tsukshima’s anaki was still at practice and would be home later. His father had arrived and greeted him politely too. Yamaguchi greeted him back and sat beside Tsukishima.
They talked about school and Yamaguchi explained that his mother worked a lot and wasn’t much home when he were. But it was okay, since Ka-chan works hard for the both of us. Not entirely knowing the weight of those words. It caused the Tsukishima’s parents to glance at each other, but Mrs. Tsukishima gave him another serving of pork curry when he finished his first plate. It was really good. Much better than microwave ready food.
By the time Yamaguchi needed to get home, Akiteru had come home too. The oldest boy ruffled his hair as Tsukishima drowned him in questions about his practice and more. Akiteru was really tall! And nice too. Yamaguchi got the see an ace!
Just when he was about to go out of the door, Mrs. Tsukishima came out. “Yamaguchi-kun, you can come and eat with us everyday if you want to.”
“I-I don’t have to, since it yours food and all that.” he stammered back, but beside him; Tsukishima agreed with his mother.
“Don’t worry about that, Yamaguchi, but if it’s okay for your mother; just come by whenever.” She too gave his hair a small ruffle and smiled to warmly at him. “It’s a pleasure to have you here. Every friend of Kei is welcome here.”
And then it was set. Each day Tsukishima would ask if his mother was home or not, and if she weren’t, Tadashi would eat with them. The two of them spent the rest of the day doing homework, trying to get Akiteru to play volleyball with them if he was up to it and playing in Kei’s room.
Sometimes Kanami would walk over and get Tadashi when it was time to go home of the evening and bring a small gift for the family. Mrs. Tsukishima tells her every time that she doesn’t need to; but you are there for my son when I can’t be, so this is the least I could do for you.
Tsukishima slowly understood that Yamaguchi’s life was a lot different from his own when the months went buy. Yamaguchi told him that his clothes were mostly bought used at stores or hand me downs. Kanami, always looked a little tired and worn out, but was kind to the both of them.
One evening, he went up to his own parents and asked; why can’t Tadashi and his mother live in a house like ours when she works two jobs? His parent places at each other, weighing their words.
“Yamaguchi-san loves and cares for Tadashi really well, and she does it all alone too; which can be hard at times.”
“Kei, Yamaguchi-san works hard for Tadashi-kun, but-but still, sometimes different types of jobs don’t pay the same; but that doesn't mean she cares any less than someone who has a bigger apartment. Do you understand?”
“I think I do.”
Tsukishima didn’t understand right way, but  a few years later he did understand more. He understood that Yamaguchi barley saw his grandparents. He received a card on his birthday. Traveling was expensive and their apartment had little room for sleep over guests. Yamaguchi would spend most weekdays at Kei’s after school, since Kanami was working so much. Tsukishima could see that his friend missed his mother, a lot. And he could see that Kanami misses her boy too. But he hoped that the small make shift family they provided him were enough.
When he would grow out of his volleyball shoes, Yamaguchi went back to the shoes provided from the school until Kanami could afford new ones. Tsukishima stopped using his brothers old shoes when he got out of elements school and each time he needed knew one; his parents could provide it for him and new ones would be bough in a few days.
It was privilege, Tsukishima understood after a few years. He were simply more privilege than Yamaguchi, but he never though less of his friend becuse of that.
But Tsukishima respect Kanami for the life she has created for Tadashi and herself. He is loved, cared for and she support him in every way possible. Despite being busy, their home is warm and homey. There is always food in the fridge and more for Tadashi. It’s easy to see where Tadashi got his values and kindness from, because it came from a woman that knew the value of family.
Hope you liked it. Actually, the asks box is open for all kinds of asks and prompts about Haikyuu!! Feel free to send more :)

emerald, lapis lazuli, quartz / yamaguchi !
* crystal hcs // accepting
emerald: how my muse tells someone they love them without words
by remembering what the other person likes ! if they like a specific meal he’ll try to cook it for them, but more often than not he’ll remember little things they like and pick it up for them later, whether it be a piece of clothing or food or a trinket.
lapis lazuli: where ‘home’ is to my muse
hmmm, if not his own house, then tsukki’s. he spends a lot of time with tsukki, given how he was his only friend for a long time, so tsukshima’s home is his second home ! plus he loves talking to akiteru whenever he visits
quartz: how my muse thinks other people see them
it depends on when we’re talking about, because the answer differs a lot. if it’s his childhood and up until his first year of high school, he thinks people find him annoying and useless, as well as weak and too sensitive. but second year, yamaguchi hopes that people see him as strong and reliable, kind but also someone who stands up for themselves.

Salt Water and Seasickness [fic]
Summary: Tsukishima was used to being a stowaway. He was used to being on the run, surviving whatever life threw at him. So how he had ended up on the most dangerous pirate king's ship was a little beyond him.
Rating: T
Tags: pirate au, first meetings, minor depictions of blood/violence bc yeah Kuroo plunders towns n things, but he’s still a nerd...just a vicious one
Note: This fic is a commission for one of my favorite people @serviceace  <3 Pinta is amazing and this fic is based off some hcs she thought up, and that I’m so happy I got to write! I hope you enjoy, and thanks to @emeraldwaves for reading this over!
AO3
The abused wood of the damp floor creaked and moaned under the weight of the ship, and Tsukishima wondered if it were possible for the rafters to cave in, crushing him.
Maybe he'd be better off that way.
There were no windows down here, far below deck, only a leaking roof and the picturesque view of rats scurrying across the floor. It stunk of fish and preserved rations, and Tsukishima's bare feet scraped against the chipped wood. He grimaced at the sensation, and coupled with the stench, his skin felt as though it would crawl up and off his body.
There was a rumbling crash of thunder, and the ship swayed violently on the restless sea. Thank god Tsukishima didn't get sea sick.
But he did get cold easily, and he huddled in on himself, shaking. His waistcoat and undershirt were still soaked, even though he'd been hiding in the ship ever since it left the last port, eight hours prior. Something told him he'd never be dry, but he was used to it. The cold hadn't killed him yet, no matter how torturous it was for his body.
Tsukishima was no stranger to harsh conditions, and he could bitch and whine as good as the rest of them, but at the end of the day he survived. He would be the last one standing when the world went up in flames, not from any kind of bravery or determination, but from pure stubbornness.
That's probably why he had no qualms about stowing away on the ship of the sea's most feared pirate king, known for slaughtering a thousand men without any unnecessary blade strokes.
Tsukshima said he was stubborn, not smart. Though...he wasn't a slouch in that department either. He might've been kicked out of medical school, but not for shitty grades. He'd been top of his class, and those skills kept him alive.
At the thought of coming face to face with the blood red pirate king Kuroo Tetsurou, Tsukishima couldn't help but glare at the mold growing on the ship's beams.
I'd like to see him try to kill me.
That was far from a reasonable thought, or an admirable one. Not like he had any use for either. But with any luck, Tsukishima would never have to meet this Kuroo Tetsurou, nor the calamity which seemed to follow him everywhere.
--
Tsukishima remembered the first time he'd seen Kuroo destroy a town.
In fact, he was no stranger to seeing pirate fleets loot and ransack homes and businesses. Kuroo's raid wasn't the first he'd seen, but it had been the first to make him stop and stare.
Usually, raids were predictable. Some fire here, some bloodshed there...it was so gruesome and gritty that after a while, Tsukishima became numb to it. As long as he knew where to hide, knew how to negotiate...he'd be safe. What happened to the rest of the town couldn't be of his concern. He wasn't a hero.
So when the notorious Kuroo Tetsurou washed ashore with his swords and guns, the smell of ash and soot wafting along the sea edge, Tsukishima knew what to expect.
And for a while, things were normal. Kuroo's crew devastated the town guard in what felt like mere minutes. True to legend, Kuroo's swords must've been forged from the finest metal out there, because they cut through flesh and sinew like butter. Blood streamed down the roads, polluting the springs until they ran crimson, but nothing looked as grisly as Kuroo himself.
The sun kissed his tan skin, but the angelic rays didn't take away from his grim appearance. Actually, the contrast almost made the captain look inhuman, like a demon, or Ares himself. The red coat he wore bore gold accents, like a flame, and it danced in the wind as Kuroo's sword pierced the chest of a soldier.
Kuroo's pure white undershirt was drenched with blood, stretched open to expose his discolored chest.
Oh. No, not discolored. Battle scars. Trophies. Proof that no matter how many men had tried, no one could kill him. Kuroo's grin was triumphant, no trace of disgust or displeasure there at all. Tsukishima had never seen a pirate king look so pleased during a slaughter. Maybe after. Maybe when he got a particularly good kill in. But to just smile like that...Tsukishima was entranced from the start.
Kuroo's hair stood up at horrid angles, but rather than tremble in fear over the captain's potentially surly nature, Tsukishima had the urge to smooth the mess down with salt water.
Tsukishima recalled Kuroo's image in vivid detail, because he'd made the mistake of standing directly in his path.
Tsukishima hadn't meant to, he'd simply wandered down the wrong road at the wrong time. Bodies sat strewn in the street, and most homes were boarded up for families to hide in them. But Tsukishima had tried to get away instead of seeking shelter, and it could've cost him his life. One turn down what he thought would be a desolate road brought him face to face with Kuroo, pulling out his sword from another body.
Tsukishima didn't consider himself to scare easily anymore, but he felt his heart drop to his stomach, like it already knew they were about to be dragged straight to hell. Realistically, Tsukishima knew he was done for. He stood frozen, weaponless, with nothing but a messenger bag of medical texts by his side. He hated himself, and he cursed his carelessness, his unfair fate.
Except, Kuroo didn't approach him. The raven, gore soaked and grinning, just winked at him, and their eyes searched each other's for five never-ending beats of Tsukishima's heart. Weirdly enough, Tsukishima's shoulders relaxed, and he watched Kuroo run off after the spell broke between them. Tsukishima hadn't known what to do. He should've probably ran for the hills, gotten to higher ground, stolen a carriage, anything.
He'd gotten lucky.
But his brain and his heart didn't listen, and soon his feet were walking on their own accord towards the red shoreline.
And then something else unexpected happened. For the first time in all his years, Kuroo managed to surprise Tsukishima in his looting practices. Kuroo evacuated the fucking town. As in, he didn't kill or threaten any of the civilians, and Tsukishima was again left speechless.
Who was this man?
Tsukishima wasn't sure he wanted to know. But maybe he should've thought about that before he was running across the sand, right for Kuroo's ship.
--
And those were the dumb decisions which led him to stow away below decks, as well as the decisions which led to having a knife pressed against his throat.
Awesome.
Tsukishima winced as the cold steel broke skin, but it didn't stop him from snarling at his captor defiantly. He refused to give an explanation, his only regret was getting caught, and he was not going to beg for his life.
"Last chance, scum. Who are you?" One of Kuroo's subordinates screamed in his face, the knife digging deeper. Had Tsukishima had more energy, he would've complained about the troublesome volume. Tsukishima grimaced, surging up with the last of his strength to headbutt the other. It wasn't that effective, given Tsukishima's three days without food, but it stung enough.
The pirate stumbled back, clutching his head and dropping the knife on the floor.
Fuck, it's too far to grab.
Then he might've had a damn chance...
Pretty optimistic, for him, but his rational thinking was weaker as well due to his lack of strength. He overlooked the various bows, swords, and guns pointed at him.
Hopeless.
The pirate fumbled for the knife again, his forehead shining red from Tsukishima's assault. "Why you little--"
"Yamamoto, quit it. That was your fault for getting so close. You have a thick skull, you'll live," another associate said, and Tsukishima squinted at his short stature and childlike face. If it wasn't for the way all the other crew members turned to him as soon as he spoke, Tsukishima would wonder what he was doing on the ship. False judgements like that would get him killed if he wasn't careful.
"Well excuse me for trying to get information," Yamamoto mumbled, pocketing his knife.
"Does it matter? Kuroo will just kill him anyways." The voice was so sudden and soft that it almost spooked Tsukishima for the first time while being on the ship. And that said a lot, given how he'd been woken up by rough hands grabbing him and dragging him to the deck of the ship. The speaker stood near the railing, looking disinterestedly at a map of the next coast. His eyes only met Tsukishima's once, but it was enough for the blond to feel like he'd been thoroughly scanned.
Afterwards, a plethora of voice began to jumble together, debating on the outcome of Tsukishima's life as well as wondering about his 'short sighted' thinking.
"He probably didn't realize whose ship he was on."
"I wonder how Kuroo will do it..."
"Why waste energy? The guy already looks like skin and bones..."
"He better not have eaten any of our stores...Kuroo will have his head for that."
"Maybe we should just toss him now, who needs Kuroo? We all know the stowaway policy."
Tsukishima growled, tugging on his ropes. He'd rather jump overboard than listen to this.
But too many eyes were still on him. And he knew himself well enough that he wouldn't give up upon hitting water. Then what would he do?
He wasn't given much time to think about it.
"Enough."
The voice, stern and strong, froze Tsukishima to the spot. He might've imagined it, but the sea felt like it had calmed too, the characteristic ripples of waves and flocks of gulls dispersing into nothing. The ocean respected its master, that was the sole explanation Tsukishima could find.
Kuroo moved forward onto the deck, his steps loud and deliberate. No stumbling, no weakness. His black boots stood out against the harsh red of his attire, though he wasn't soaked in blood this time around. Those eyes were just as piercing though, not leaving Tsukishima's for a second. Tsukishima was the prey, and Kuroo would not let him escape. It became clear right away.
What was confusing was the fact that Tsukishima didn't appear to mind. His shoulders relaxed, and his heart rate didn't speed up. No sweat, no labored breathing, nothing to indicate fear.
Well, alright then.
Kuroo's heavy steps stopped a few feet away, and Tsukishima tilted his head, waiting.
Kuroo didn't radiate anger, but his expression was grave, skeptical. Whatever he asked, Tsukishima knew he wouldn't be able to lie. People who could discern lies from truth were rare to come by, but Tsukishima knew how to pick them out, because he was one. So was Kuroo.
"What is your name, and who sent you?" The captain eventually said, and Tsukishima sighed into the silence between them.
"Tsukishima Kei," he began, smiling at Yamamoto's indignant huff at Tsukishima's new willingness to speak. "And no one sent me. There's no ulterior motive either by the way...I'm not here to avenge dead family or anything."
"He's lying!" Yamamoto roared from the side, much to Tsukishima's aggravation. Kuroo didn't look away from him.
"You expect us to believe that you just happened to wander onto Kuroo Tetsurou's ship?" Another subordinate said. "The crest and sails are unmistakable."
"Fukunaga, I can handle this," Kuroo interrupted, and his crew automatically backed off.
Tsukishima wasn't deterred. "No, I knew whose ship it was, I just didn't care. I needed passage."
Which also wasn't completely true. Tsukishima still wasn't sure what had compelled him to board the damn vessel. He could've found another way. These days, Tsukishima was an experienced wanderer. He had no home, no commitments, and he could find work anywhere. But he'd rushed onboard despite that, when he could've waited for another less dangerous cargo ship to sneak onto.
Unfortunately, Kuroo picked up on that. His lips lifted into a smirk, sending shivers through Tsukishima's body. "Passage to where? You couldn't have known where we were headed."
Tsukishima huffed, glaring. "Anywhere."
The lack of an excuse notably startled Kuroo, someone most likely used to seeing people sweat and fumble as they tried to save their own skin. Tsukishima might've had a need for self preservation, but he was no slug, and he refused to squirm and cower.
Certainly not when he heard the quick unsheathing of a sword, and most definitely not when said sword ended up pressed against his neck.
So theatrical...
The sword was more magnificent up close. He'd been right before, the metal was sturdy and stunning, shining in the sunlight and freshly sharpened.
The hilt was silver and encrusted with red jewels, obviously plundered from a wealthy province. Tsukishima eyes gleamed, and his hand itched to wield it.
"Right," Kuroo said, calling Tsukishima's attention back to his suspicious eyes. "No matter. Keep your lies and whatever you’re hiding, they're of no use. We can't take the chance of keeping you around. This is the price you pay for trespassing."
Tsukishima bowed his head as the sword pulled back, ready to deliver the final blow. For whatever reason, the panic bubbled up and then dissipated in an instant, like his body was trying to distance itself from the inevitable. That, or Tsukishima didn't have much of a "life" for it to flash before his eyes. At least he wouldn't have to be depressed about that much longer.
Kuroo stepped forward, taking position, and Tsukishima nearly glanced up, wishing to look at him one last time. But he refused, because no one got to see or know his last emotion, not even someone as regal as Kuroo Tetsurou.
"Any last wor-ergh--"
Tsukishima's head shot up like a bullet at the guttural sound, all thoughts of death put on hold.
What...
Kuroo burped again, his form trembling for the first time. Vulnerable. Sick. Tsukishima's eyes sparked with recognition. He couldn't help it, he was a doctor at heart.
No way. This is either the best thing or the worst thing I've ever seen.
Kuroo's face twisted, turning a few varying shades of green before ultimately paling. The captain stumbled as the ship rocked, clutching his stomach. His eyes snapped shut, and his breathing grew labored. Like that'll help.
Tsukishima could practically see the signs as they happened. Clammy skin, maybe a light sweat, churning stomach...
Seasickness obviously doesn't care if you're a famous pirate king.
And Tsukishima couldn't help it, he laughed, fucking laughed at the most dangerous man he'd ever met. Flat out lost it, though he'd been seconds from death. This is amazing.
Kuroo's head shot up, his glare lacking the needed intensity. It was more like a measly squint, and the overall effect was dulled by the fact that Kuroo looked two seconds from barfing on everyone and everything. "How dare you. I'm--oh god...everything is spinning..."
Tsukishima laughed again, but for once, it wasn't cruel. He hated admitting it but it was....sort of endearing. Kuroo brandished a sharp sword and radiated authority, but here he was, hunched over in front of his whole crew. What was better was that the crew didn't look the least bit surprised, just somewhat fed up.
Ah, so this happens a lot...
"You should sit down," Tsukishima said, trying to move forward. He instinctively moved towards Kuroo, as if to help him, which was an...odd feeling when said person wanted to kill you.
"I'm fine," Kuroo said, but the syllables were cut up by unattractive burps. "Oh man..."
"He really is," Yaku chimed in with a sigh. "This has been happening a lot this week..."
"Don't tell him that."
Ignoring Kuroo's complaints, Tsukishima's mind raced. Frequent nausea on relatively calm seas could mean the captain had a bug of some sort...
"Have you been eating?" Tsukishima asked. "You could be more sick than you realize. Is your appetite normal? Are your bowel movements--"
"Too far, too far," Kuroo pleaded, much to Tsukishima's annoyance. The sternness from earlier was gone, replaced with childish whines.
"Are you seriously getting weird about this? You gutted a man like...3 days ago," Tsukishima argued. It had looked really freaking cool too, but he left that out.
"That's different," Kuroo forced out, gagging shortly afterwards. "Ugh, someone cut out my stomach..."
"Untie me first," Tsukishima deadpanned.
"Okay okay, can we stop this? An execution shouldn't take up the whole morning," Yaku intervened, but even his eyes flashed with worry when Kuroo crouched to the floor. "But...maybe a postponement is in order..."
Yamamoto and the rest of the crew gaped, but well....it was Kuroo's job to carry through with the executions, and he wouldn't be doing that anytime soon.
"You really should get midship," Tsukishima advised. "It'll be more stable there. He also needs fresh water, and some bread."
And then, Tsukishima's voice seemed to have a mind of his own, because before he knew it he said: "I can take care of him. I'm a doctor."
Sort of. Pretty much.
He left out the whole 'got kicked out' bit.
"No way! That's too far," Fukunaga argued, looking to the rest of his shipmates. "He could be an assassin! Or...some spy. We can't just--"
Kuroo wretched again, and the sound made Tsukishima shrink away. "Fine. So I'm guessing you guys know how to help him then? Know all the potential remedies and what medicines to get from the next port? Right?"
Tsukishima didn't care if he was being insolent, he didn't have time for idiots.
The crew looked between each other, concerned, and Kuroo looked up at Tsukishima again. He was clearly faint...and would only get worse. Actually, he'd probably been like this everyday if what his crew said was accurate. No one had noticed though, no one had questioned it.
"Yaku, if we keep him monitored, it won't be an issue," the quieter pirate from before said, rolling up his map as he stepped into the middle of the group. The next port is a small one, we can get Kuroo what he needs without getting into that big of a fight."
Right. Because they likely wouldn't be able to bring Kuroo with them if he got sicker. However, the prospect of escape hardly crossed Tsukishima's mind.
Whatever was wrong with him, he didn't know.
After a few more tense moments, Yaku sighed in frustration, and Tsukishima knew he'd won. "Kenma is right. Someone untie the prisoner and escort him to Kuroo's room. Do not let him out of your sight."
The look of warning he got from Yaku was more intimidating than the near brush with death had been, but as Tsukishima rubbed at his rope burns and watched the crew lead Kuroo to his room, the blond felt immense relief.
--
Tsukishima rung out the wet rag, listening to the water trickle into the bucket on the floor. He tried not to be too intimidated by Kuroo's stare, and briefly wondered why the other hadn't passed out yet. He should've, given how shitty he looked and how hot his forehead was, but suspicion was a powerful thing. The captain hadn't taken his eyes off Tsukishima the whole time he'd been treated, and every few minutes Yaku or Yamamoto came to check on them.
Though, after the thirty minute mark, they'd all seemed to calm down. Tsukishima had done nothing but give top notch treatment, and pleasantly too. The crew had allowed him to eat first, and with his stomach filled, Tsukishima could devout all his energy to nursing Kuroo.
He folded the towel, moving to place it over Kuroo's head, and brushed the raven's sweaty bangs away. "It's not much but...this ship is poorly equipped to take care of these things. At least your crew is good at what they do, or I would seriously wonder how you were all alive."
And he meant that. There were hardly any tools or medical instruments here. The chance of effectively treating knife or gunshot wounds? Slim.
"Never needed a medic before," Kuroo grumbled, voice rough as sand. Wordlessly, Tsukishima handed him another saltine cracker, and water.
"Eat it slowly," Tsukishima advised, before getting up to adjust the curtain on the porthole. The empty sea....unsettled him. "And that's very arrogant of you."
Kuroo just laughed, sipping at the water with a grimace. "Maybe so."
"You'll need to take it easy for a few days, definitely no going off ship for anything other than stretching your legs. The fresh air will help," Tsukishima said again, taking a seat on the stool by Kuroo's bed.
Without much else to do, he curled in on himself, knowing Yaku would probably have him stay in the ship's brig when he returned to take Tsukishima away. Guess he deserved that, medical skill or not. He remained a trespasser.
But again, Kuroo never failed to surprise him.
"My crew can handle the expedition," Kuroo said, turning onto his side to stare at Tsukishima more directly. The towel slipped slightly from his head, the water droplets rolling down his face, and Tsukishima adjusted it carefully. "I'm sorry for the rough treatment out there by the way."
Tsukishima startled, mouth falling open slightly. A scolding or complaint, he might've expected. But an apology? From Kuroo Tetsurou? Tsukishima was most likely dreaming at this point, or he truly had been killed.
He swallowed, stunned, and nearly told Kuroo it was fine.
Fine.
It certainly was not. He'd almost been killed! Yet here he was, baffled by this endearing, murderous bastard's genuine apology. Before he could respond, Kuroo continued, confusing Tsukishima further.
Pirate kings were not supposed to be this reasonable.
"We used to take in stowaways, make them part of the crew. It was usually fine, but...one of them nearly killed Kenma, and tried to steal from me," Kuroo explained, and he had Tsukishima's full attention. "So...there went that tradition. But don't worry. Now that we know you're not a threat I can probably convince the guys to spare you."
"How do you know I'm not a threat?" Tsukishima said suddenly, out of habit. He was used to being underestimated, but maybe this wasn't the best time to get confrontational. He'd just been pardoned dammit. But Kuroo froze, his expression too comical for the blond to keep a straight face. With no anger present from Kuroo, Tsukishima laughed, and a moment later, so did Kuroo.
"I'm dangerous in my own right, but not to you," Tsukishima assured. The way Kuroo nodded, believing him, made Tsukishima fight back a smile. And once more, Kuroo picked up on the things running through Tsukishima's mind, like a sixth sense.
"Why is that?" Kuroo asked. "I'm not exactly the gentlest guy out there."
I know. And well, there was no use lying to him. Tsukishima shook his head, huffing to himself.
"I don't know," he whispered, glancing away to pick at the few vials sitting about. He'd have to fill them up when they docked...
The confession felt too intimate to say right to Kuroo's face, and Tsukishima began to make a list in his head to distract himself as he spoke. "I don't know why I'm on your ship either. I was led here, that's all I know."
He heard Kuroo shift in bed, his tone curious and far too childlike for his occupation. "Led?"
"Yes...like I couldn't help it," Tsukishima said, knowing how ridiculous it sounded. He was no pirate. He didn't particularly like the sea. He didn't particularly like anything, but...
But he knew when to trust his gut. It had yet to let him down in this cruel life of his, regardless of where it took him. Like a murderous pirate king's ship...
He scolded his phrasing internally, sure it would be seen as a lie, but Kuroo was far more competent than that.
"Oh, well then I get it," Kuroo said, like it was the simplest thing in the world. Tsukishima looked back at him, perplexed, and felt his hands freeze up at the captain's small smile. Kuroo coughed a second later, and his eyes drooped, like he was going to let himself succumb to sleep now after all this time. Now that Tsukishima was trustworthy. Somehow, the realization made Tsukishima more relaxed than he had been in a long time. "That's how the sea was for me. I still don't really get it, but I had to listen. So here I am."
"Here you are," Tsukishima echoed dumbly, not knowing where to go from there. All he knew was that physically, he'd be content staying right in that spot, and it scared him.
"Nuh-uh Tsukki," Kuroo grumbled, the drowsiness taking over. Tsukishima caught the towel as it slipped from Kuroo's head, watching as those golden eyes fluttered closed. He flinched a bit at the nickname, but...that could be ironed out later. "Here we are."
Tsukishima's breathing stalled for a moment, and he felt stuck in time, watching Kuroo slip into a deep sleep with the ease of a young child, comfortable in Tsukishima's presence. The blond clutched the towel tightly, feeling the water run over his knuckles as he digested the words. He hadn't had anyone refer to him as part of something in many years, and it was nearly too much.
He shouldn't have cared so much. He refused to. And yet...
He pushed the blankets over Kuroo's shivering form, rewetting the cloth in order to make sure Kuroo was fully set for the night. The whole time, he couldn't shake Kuroo's declaration.
Idiot...who says things like that?
He was sure that wasn't the worst of it either, and there would be much more to come.
Maybe that was alright though.
Tsukishima would stay here for as long as he was allowed, or for as long as his soul willed him to. It was annoying, irrational, but he also knew it was right.
Not that he had any chance of fighting it anyways.
Tsukishima stood up as he heard Yaku's steps coming to collect him, content with spending a night in the brig while Kuroo rested. A fair punishment, in the grand scheme of things.
He'd have lots of time to prove himself he hoped, and the desire to made him squint at his reflection in Kuroo's broken side mirror.
So this is who we are now...
So be it.
Tsukishima never imagined in a million years he'd be a pirate, but he couldn't find a single regret about it in his head, not when it was on Kuroo's crew.
And well, that was a start.

Could you do some hc for my baby birb son hinata ! I love your other Hc ! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
sure!!!!! sorry these are so late btw:
hinata’s diet consists mainly of candy. the boy could eat his weight in gobstoppers.
there was one time when he was younger that he cut his own hair into a very lopsided mohawk and he couldnt have been more proud of himself
he’s not the type to think its “uncool” to be caught hanging out with his little sister. she wants to go for ice cream? you bet ur ass hinata is taking her
he lives in a very close knit neighborhood and as his mom works a lot, their neighbors keep an eye out for him and his sister for her
hinata will commonly call them “uncle blank, next door” or “aunt whoever, across the street”
that being said, if hinata even sneezes the wrong way and u can bet his mother knows before she’s even made it home
did i happen to mention he’s a HUGE momma’s boy
he’s a very friendly kid and can commonly be found stopping to talk to frogs he passes on his bike ride home or a waving to a butterfly that flutters past him
he’s not the best in school, he’ll be the first to admit that but he enjoys art and can be found at yachi’s a lot talking to her mother about her job, starry eyed as ever
he’s also KILLER on drums, and it helps him work out some of his energy
him and yamaguchi have frequent sleepovers, sometimes they can convince tsukshima and kageyama to tolerate each other for an entire evening
speaking of sleepovers, nishinoya and tanaka kidnap him at least three days out of the week and force him to stay with them. he doesn’t mind as he absolutely adores his senpais and bc he gets to eat saeko’s cooking
every night before bed he facetimes with kenma, just to check and make sure he’s had a good day. if not, hinata will make it his mission to make kenma smile once before they go to sleep.
when out for bike rides, he gets so caught up in how cool everything around him looks that he winds up going a lot farther than he planned and it takes him awhile to get home
he’s bad at video games, doesn’t really have that much patience for them but he’s determined to beat kenma at least once in his life time
although its unrealistic, he hopes he and all his friends can go to the same university and play on the same team. he thinks they’d be the strongest team ever
and while he hasnt forgotten the little giant that inspired him in the first place, he hopes to become the type of ace his team, his friends and himself could be proud of
