"You guys!" Ukai yelled at them from the other side of the gym. Tsukishima stumbled when he pulled back and put some distance between him and his friend, but Yamaguchi just stood there, like in a daze, and casually looked back at the coach. "You're here to train! Not make heart eyes at- at each other!" A laugh slipped out at the last part, making Takeda slap him on the arm disapprovingly.

Tadashi Yamaguchi’s name leaves a sour taste in Kei Tsukishima’s mouth.
Kei had become well aware at a very young age of life’s tendency to make abrupt changes, constantly rearranging the people in his life without warning or hesitation. This lesson was first learned when his grandmother passed away shortly after his seventh birthday. It hadn’t affected him too terribly; he hadn’t really understood the concept of death quite yet, only really gathering that his grandmother wouldn’t be standing in the doorway waiting for him when he got home from school anymore. But still, her absence was unpleasant, hurtful to him, and he was aware that he didn’t want to feel that way again if he could help it.
Why should he ever depend on anybody else for anything? For them to be there, to listen, to be honest? All that had done was disappoint him. He’d made a conscious decision to give up on such a ridiculous concept. Why did he need to feel close to anyone again if he already knew how it would turn out?
Tadashi Yamaguchi’s name leaves a sour taste in Kei Tsukishima’s mouth.
Even after being so thoroughly humiliated by being caught in his brother’s lie shortly after their first meeting, Tadashi stuck by his side. Despite his cruel jokes that used to bring tears to his friend’s brown eyes (which, he always felt the need to emphasize when Tadashi brought it up, he always made sure to apologize for) and his less than warm personality, the two boys had become inseparable.
Kei had fought the attachment tooth and nail, but it was pointless. Wherever he went, Tadashi followed. Whatever he said, Tadashi doubled down. Whatever he did, Tadashi joined in. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, Kei had grown to enjoy his presence, and found himself disappointed when he wasn’t around. Life had evolved into being the two of them against the world, and if he was being honest, Kei had grown to prefer it that way.
Tadashi Yamaguchi’s name leaves a sour taste in Kei Tsukishima’s mouth.
“Are you going to see him?”

The smell of coffee beans filled the small coffee shop Tadashi Yamaguchi worked at. It was underground, led to by a flight of stairs that opened into a large room with plants growing in every nook and cranny and tables scattered about. In the corner was another room closed off by large red double doors that housed the cafe: The UnderGrounds. Artwork hung on every vertical surface ranging from children’s doodles to painting masterpieces. Practically every medium of art was represented: charcoal, chalk, pastels, watercolor…it was one of the things Yamaguchi adored about his job. Looking at the artwork and being able to display new ones was a joy Yamaguchi would never be rid of. That, and the free chai tea he was guaranteed during his shifts never hurt either. But he also loved speaking to the regular patrons, mostly college students and professors, and would converse with them as he made their drinks and drew pictures in the latte foam.
“What’s that book you’re reading about?”
“Oh! How is that art project going?”
“An extra shot of espresso? Well, it is finals week.”
No matter the topic, Yamaguchi’s personality just seemed to effortlessly draw conversation out of everyone. Something about him just felt like home.
Yamaguchi prided himself in his memory of customers, so when a newcomer arrived in the coffee shop one Thursday afternoon, he was surprised to say the least. It was the middle of the semester, so the chances of it being a new student was slim. Possibly a new professor? But that didn’t seem too quite fit either. Yamaguchi couldn’t help but wonder.
As soon as the stranger had walked through the open door, Yamaguchi asked, “So what brings you here?” The stranger stiffened slightly at his question yet continued to walk towards the counter. Most probably wouldn’t have noticed the slight change in his demeanor, but Yamaguchi noted it right away.
“I wanted coffee.” The man bluntly said. Once he had reached the counter, Yamaguchi couldn’t help but scan his features. He was pretty, with high cheekbones, golden brown eyes, and curly blond hair. He wore black glasses that sat on the bridge of his nose, and the man seemed to subconsciously push them up as he waited for Yamaguchi’s response.
“Oh, yes, of course! But I meant, what brings you here. As in, this is a small town and I’ve never seen you before. I’m just curious is all!” Yamaguchi smiled brightly.
The man sighed, as if exasperated by Yamaguchi’s questions. Yamaguchi anxiously shifted from foot to foot, not expecting this kind of response. “Well,” the man paused, “I’m a new hire at a local bookstore.”
“Ah! Well, what would you like to order?” Yamaguchi asked.
“Just black coffee.”
“Alrighty! Your total is two dollars and sixty-five cents.” The man tapped his credit card against the console and waited as Yamaguchi began to pour him a cup.
“What brought you to this town?” Yamaguchi asked. Once more, the man sighed, obviously not one for small talk. Or possibly, not one for any kind of “talk”. He ultimately just shrugged, not even dignifying Yamaguchi’s question with a worded response. Yamaguchi let the question hang between them in the air, stifling any further conversation he had been hoping for.
“What’s the name for the drink, by the way?” Yamaguchi asked on instinct.
“There’s no one else here.” The man responded.
Yamaguchi shifted in place awkwardly before saying, “Sorry, force of habit.”
“Tsukishima.”
“What?”
 “My name. It’s Tsukishima.”
“I’m Yamaguchi!” Tsukishima just stared. “Anyways, here’s your coffee!” Yamaguchi handed the drink to Tsukishima, who promptly took it and walked out of the cafe. Yamaguchi took in a deep breath, before roughly exhaling through clenched teeth. He placed his head on the counter before groaning to himself; he wasn’t sure what Tsukishima’s problem was, but he didn’t like it.
The next day at work, Yamaguchi’s shift started like any other. College students poured in during the lunch hours, requesting over complicated drinks despite the rush. Luckily, Yamaguchi wasn’t by himself. His boss, Sugawara, was there making drinks as Yamaguchi took orders. But with little to no time to converse with any of the students, Yamaguchi couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. He wanted nothing more than to ask how everyone was doing, but with the line leading out the door and up the stairs, he just didn’t have the luxury to. Thankfully, the lunch rush eventually ended, leaving Sugawara and Yamaguchi to catch their breath.
“That felt busier than usual,” Yamaguchi said at one point, but all Sugawara did in response was nod.
“Well, that marks the end of my shift. We won’t be getting any more rushes today since it’s Friday. You good to lock up on your own?” Sugawara said, throwing the cafe keys at Yamaguchi who fumbled them, almost dropping them in the process. Sugawara let out a small chuckle at the sight.
“And you used to play volleyball.” Sugawara laughed. Yamaguchi smiled sheepishly.
“Well, are you good to close by yourself?” Sugawara shifted the topic.
“Yeah!” Yamaguchi responded.
“Okay, well, if you need anything I only live, like, a street down.” Sugawara let out another small laugh before ruffling Yamaguchi’s hair and leaving. It was just as Sugawara walked up the stairs and out the door, did Tsukishima make his way into the cafe.
“Oh, hello again!” Yamaguchi said brightly, trying his best to not show how much his appearance irked him. Yamaguchi thought it painful how beautiful Tsukishima was; how could such a sour personality be housed in such a gorgeous person anyways?
“I’d like a latte, please.” Tsukishima said.
“Okay, would you like any latte foam art?” Yamaguchi asked. While not amazing at it, latte foam art was a hobby of Yamaguchi’s he thoroughly enjoyed. Over the past year of practicing, he’d gotten past wobbly shapes and could now draw small pictures, but it was nowhere near the talent of others.
“Surprise me.” Tsukishima smirked. Yamaguchi thought for a moment, before settling on drawing a simple cat outline. He set to work, and as soon as he finished with the drink, he handed it to Tsukishima.
“Here you go!” Yamaguchi responded.
“A cat. Cute. I have two, actually.” Tsukishima said as he looked down at the art.
“Really? What are their names?”
Tsukishima smiled to himself for a moment, most likely thinking of his two cats, before his face retreated back into its regular stony disposition. He just shrugged in response before leaving, not even dignifying Yamaguchi’s question with a response.
Yamaguchi didn’t see Tsukishima for a couple days after that, and he couldn’t help but wonder if he somehow offended Tsukishima by asking him about his pets. It wasn’t until Tsukishima came in about a week later with a “Sorry, I’ve been busy lately,” as he walked through the doorway. Yamaguchi smiled, knowing the implication that was ladened in his words; Tsukishima wanted to see him.
Tsukishima reached into his pocket, pulling out a phone in a simple black case. Yamaguchi could see him looking for something, and once Tsukishima presented his phone to Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi’s face split into a wide smile. There on the screen was a picture of two cats curled into each other, one white and the other black.
“Artemis and Luna.” Tsukishima said.
“Hm?” Yamaguchi made a questioning noise.
“Their names. Artemis and Luna.”
“Like in Sailor Moon?” Yamaguchi asked. Tsukishima didn’t seem like the kind of person to be into magical girl anime, but Sailor Moon had enthralled Yamaguchi growing up as well, so he tried to make his words sound as far away from judgmental as possible.
Tsukishima sighed. “Yeah, I used to watch it with my older brother growing up and when I got an all black cat, I knew I had to name her Luna. I got Artemis second and when I saw him, I just knew I had to name him Artemis to go along with Luna.”
“That’s cute. I also used to watch it growing up.” Yamaguchi admitted. “So, what are you ordering today?”
“A latte. Do whatever you want for the foam art.” Yamaguchi punched Tsukishima’s order into the register and began making the latte. He did a crescent moon for the foam art, feeling it fit the conversation at hand.
“Thanks.” Tsukishima said as he took the cup from Yamaguchi, as he began to head off. Yamaguchi began to clean up between customers, wondering why Tsukishima had become so chatty. It seemed out of character for the aloof man that preceded him. Especially after Tsukishima had ignored the question of his cat’s name. Yamaguchi tried not to think about it too much, but nevertheless he did.
Tsukishima began coming in more frequently after that, always ordering the same thing, ‘a latte, do whatever you want for the foam art’. Through simple conversations Yamaguchi had been able to piece together that Tsukishima had an older brother named Akiteru and no other siblings, that he worked at the local bookstore, that he was from the town over, and that he had a telescope. Yamaguchi always looked forward to their simple conversations, even if Tsukishima was still standoffish.
Then there was the day Tsukishima came in on Yamaguchi’s break. Yamaguchi had been sitting at a table, sipping on a chai tea latte as Sugawara took the orders and prepared the drinks of the customers. Yamaguchi just happened to look up as Tsukishima walked through the doorway. Yamaguchi gave a little wave and a smile, as Tsukishima walked towards him.
“Off today?” Tsukishima asked.
Yamaguchi shook his head. “No, just on break.” Tsukishima just nodded in acknowledgement. “You can join me, if you want.” Yamaguchi said. Tsukishima nodded again, before going to order. Yamaguchi shrugged to himself, hoping that he wasn’t somehow being too forward by asking Tsukishima to sit with him.
A couple minutes later, Yamaguchi heard the close sound of a chair scraping on hardwood. He picked up his head and found Tsukishima sitting across from him. They had never spoken without a counter between them, and Yamaguchi could feel the difference, the proximity. Their knees almost touched under the small table.
“You work at a bookstore, right?” Yamaguchi asked.
 “Yeah,” was all Tsukishima replied.
 “How come?”
“Well, it was a job that was available. And I like to read so it felt fitting. Why do you work at a coffee shop?”
“I went to high school with Sugawara, we actually played volleyball together, so when he wanted to open up a coffee shop, I said I’d help him. I’m not a co-owner or anything, all the behind-the-scenes stuff is Sugawara, I just work here.” Yamaguchi smiled. “You moved here from a neighboring town, right?”
 “Yeah.”
 “How come?”
Tsukishima shrugged. “Wanted to get out of the house, get my own place, I guess.”
“I live in the apartment complex down the street, it’s a pretty short walk which is nice.”
“I’m in the one across from yours, if we’re thinking of the same place.”
“We’re practically neighbors, then!” Yamaguchi let out a small laugh.
“Yeah,” a small smile crossed Tsukishima’s face. They continued to talk before Tsukishima looked at the time on his phone.
“I should head back to work,” he inevitably said.
“Yeah, I probably should too.” Yamaguchi let out a small laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, knowing for sure he went over his break time. “See you later,” he said as he stood up. “It was nice talking to you.”
Tsukishima offered a small smirk, “It was nice talking to you too.” Yamaguchi gave a parting wave as he headed into the back to grab his apron.
“You enjoy talking to that tall blond?” Sugawara said with a teasing lilt to his voice. Yamaguchi walked over as he tied his apron behind him. It was black and covered his entire front, his name tag pinned at the top.
“His name is Tsukishima. But yes, I did.”
“Do you like him?” Sugawara bumped his hip against Yamaguchi.
“As a friend, yes.” Yamaguchi rolled his eyes.
“Hm, I saw how you smiled at him. You’re definitely developing a crush.”
Yamaguchi rolled his eyes again. “Whatever you say.”
Yamaguchi quickly found out Sugawara was not wrong. Tsukishima continued to come at the same time every day, admitting once that he was trying to catch Yamaguchi on his breaks. Yamaguchi began walking to the bookstore as well, bringing coffee and snacks and hoping that Tsukishima would be able to chat.
“If you want, you could come over to my apartment and meet my cats sometime,” Tsukishima said unexpectedly one day. Yamaguchi had just arrived at the bookstore, armed with lattes and muffins. Yamaguchi stood stunned for a moment, before grinning and saying, “I’d love that! When are you off?”
“Is tomorrow too soon?” Tsukishima said.
“Not at all, I’m off tomorrow too.”
“Great. Here, give me your phone number so I can text you my apartment number.” Yamaguchi gave it to him, soon after he received a simple text message that read only ‘214’.
The next day as Yamaguchi was getting ready, he realized he was shaking. Nervousness surged through his veins like electricity, unsure of what to expect when he arrived. Yamaguchi liked familiarity; he liked knowing what would happen before it happened. Going over to Tsukishima’s apartment was uncharted territory, and it terrified him.
As the agreed upon time of 1pm rolled around, Yamaguchi was walking down the hall from the elevator to apartment 214. He softly knocked on the door, not wanting to startle Tsukishima. Tsukishima must have been waiting for him, as the door opened almost immediately after. He was dressed in casual wear, very different from his usual button down and slacks attire he wore to work. Yamaguchi had never seen Tsukishima in jeans, and something felt almost personal about it. Yamaguchi looked no different than he usually did.
“Hey, come in.” Tsukishima said, stepping aside out of the doorway to allow Yamaguchi to walk into the apartment. Immediately, he was greeted by a small fluffy white cat rubbing against his leg.
“Artemis is very friendly,” Yamaguchi said.
“Yeah, he loves people.” Tsukishima closed the door. “Luna is a bit shyer, but she’s in the living room last time I checked. Here, it’s down this hall.” Yamaguchi followed Tsukishima down a short walkway to a room with a TV, couch, and cat tree. On the highest part of the cat tree lay Luna, seemingly sleeping. Tsukishima walked over and began petting her. Luna perked up, rubbing the side of her face against his hand.
“Can I pet her?” Yamaguchi asked, pointing to Luna.
 “Sure, go ahead.” Tsukishima said.
Yamaguchi walked over and began stroking her soft fur. “I’ve never had a pet cat; I’ve only ever had a dog.”
 “What kind of dog?”
“Big dog. Growing up we had a Tosa Inu.”
 “Oh, that’s a big dog.”
 “Yeah! His name was Yoshi.”
 “After the Mario character?”
Yamaguchi sighed. “Yeah, after the Mario character.” He paused. “Have you had cats before?”
Tsukishima shook his head. “No, my mom’s allergic so I never had one growing up.”
“What made you decide to get one?”
Tsukishima shrugged. “I don’t know, I've always wanted one. And after getting the first, I wanted another.” His voice was nonchalant, almost as if he didn’t care, but Yamaguchi could see a sparkle in Tsukishima’s eyes that was seldom there. They continued to talk into the evening, chatting about everything and nothing all at once. They ate together in Tsukishima’s small kitchen, their legs bumping under the table. Eventually, Yamaguchi bid Tsukishima farewell, citing his fatigue as a reason to depart. He gave Luna and Artemis final head pats before he left, Tsukishima closing the door behind him.
As soon as he exited the elevator, he called Sugawara.
“You were right, you were so right.” Yamaguchi said as soon as Sugawara answered.
“Oh whatever do you mean?” Sugawara asked, a teasing lilt to his voice.
“About Tsukishima. I like him. I was just over at his apartment and he has two cats and he likes dinosaurs and space and he’s just so…” Yamaguchi trailed off, struggling to find words to convey what he wanted.
Sugawara laughed. “I get it, you like him.”
 “I wish I didn’t.”
 “Why?”
Yamaguchi sighed. “I don’t even know if he likes guys, let alone me.”
“Try hinting to him that you like him. Or just be straightforward.” Sugawara offered.
 “Okay. Okay, alright. Thanks, Suga.”
“No problem.” Yamaguchi breathed a sigh as he hung up, unlocking his apartment as he did so.
Yamaguchi decided to be subtle. He was terrified to admit his feelings explicitly, not wanting to scare off Tsukishima. Through small cues and soft conversations, Yamaguchi was able to piece together that Tsukishima had had a boyfriend before, that he was most likely gay, that he was currently single, and that maybe he had the slightest inkling of feelings for Yamaguchi, if the flirting Sugawara pointed out was anything to go by. Yamaguchi tried leaving subtle hints that he liked Tsukishima, but Tsukishima was either too dense or too oblivious to understand them. After a month of this dance, Yamaguchi was practically pulling his hair out in frustration. Yamaguchi thought back to Sugawara’s advice, and decided it was time to be as direct as he could be.
The next day when Tsukishima came in to order a latte, Yamaguchi decided to confess then and there. He poured the foam in the shape of a heart, with ‘Y+T’ written inside of it. Outside of the heart, to the right, was a question mark. Yamaguchi hoped Tsukishima would understand what he was trying to convey, and when he passed over the drink, Yamaguchi couldn’t help but notice how badly his own hand was shaking.
Yamaguchi watched as Tsukishima walked to a table, taking off the lid and looking down at the foam art. A blush graced Tsukishima’s features, covering his cheekbones and traveling down his neck. Tsukishima stared for a moment, before standing up and walking back towards Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi could feel his heart thumping in his chest and his blood thrumming through his veins.
“I need you to explain this.” Tsukishima said. Yamaguchi’s face burned. Tsukishima didn’t sound angry, more confused than anything, but Yamaguchi regretted trying to convey his feelings.
“I like you.” Yamaguchi took a deep breath. “As more than a friend. I wanted to confess but was scared to tell you, so I tried doing it this way.”
Tsukishima nodded, biting his lip for a moment, thinking. “Okay.” Yamaguchi’s heart dropped into the pit of his stomach.
“Would you like to go on a date some time?” Tsukishima asked. Yamaguchi stood stunned.
 “What?”
“Well you like me, and I like you, so would you like to go on a date?”
“Yeah!” Yamaguchi said a little too excitedly.
“Great, when would you like to and what would you like to do?”
Yamaguchi sat on the couch in his apartment, waiting for Tsukishima to arrive for their first date. He chewed at his nails as he watched TV, already having set up everything he could for their date.
As soon as there was a knock at the door, Yamaguchi was turning off the TV and running towards the front of his apartment. He quickly unlocked it and found Tsukishima on the other side with a faint blush covering his features.
“Welcome to my apartment,” Yamaguchi said, stepping aside and ushering him in.
“So you’re going to teach me how to make latte foam art?”
“That’s the plan!” Yamaguchi smiled as he closed the door behind Tsukishima. Yamaguchi did his best to instruct Tsukishima on pouring latte foam art, but Tsukishima’s shaky hands created squiggly lines. Tsukishima chuckled at his own failed attempts, and Yamaguchi tried to help as much as he could. By the end of the day, they had pictures from Yamaguchi’s practiced hands and mish mashed shapes from Tsukishima’s. Yamaguchi decided to cook dinner for them, Tsukishima helping prepare the food. Yamaguchi couldn’t help but think just how domestic it all felt. He smiled to himself as he served the rice at the thought. As they washed the dishes together, Yamaguchi leaned into Tsukishima’s side. Tsukishima froze for a second, before relaxing after a moment.
“Thanks for helping me.” Yamaguchi said.
“What kind of date would I be if I didn’t?” Tsukishima smirked. Yamaguchi paused, turning towards Tsukishima.
“Can I kiss you?” Yamaguchi said, a joking tone in his voice.
Tsukishima raised an eyebrow, before leaning down slightly, only a few centimeters away from Yamaguchi’s face. Yamaguchi’s breath caught in his throat at the proximity.
“Of course you can.” Tsukishima smirked before closing the gap between them. It was a soft kiss, just a press of each other’s lips, but Yamaguchi’s heart could barely handle it. He could feel it beating so hard in his chest that he was almost positive Tsukishima could hear it. After Tsukishima pulled away, Yamaguchi returned to the dishes, a blush covering both of their faces.

A offers B a hip massage after taking it up the ass for the first time and it just leads to more sex.
Or it maybe it doesn't. Maybe it just leads to some nice cuddles and emotional intimacy. That's super cool too. If not much cooler.

┊┊┊✧ ⁺ ⁺╚══ A Perfect Circle ╝
Premise: When you like the guy who likes the guy that likes you, things get a little out of hand, when a triangle becomes a circle not just one gets hurt.
Word Count: 2266
Note/warning: in this series I'm going for a bit of punk Yamaguchi, even if it isn't cannon is just my personal favorite, lol. Also he's bi here, so you've been warned, while this is not full blown yaoi or anything of the sort it does have mention of feelings for the same sex. Nothing hardcore, reader is female.
Chapter 1: Midnight Kisses
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
College wasn’t easy, your time off was basically non-existent, if you had any it was mostly to complete your assignments or study for a test, that of course plus the time you had to spend in your part-time at a local coffee shop.
So when your classmate, friend and crush, asked you for help doing his hair, you had to call in sick and forgo sleeping the night before to finish an assignment just so you could hang out with him at his dorm, of course, he doesn’t know any of this.
Yamaguchi Tadashi sits beside you every Thursday in finance class.
For a while, that was all there was to say about him being in your life, however, his shy demeanor and cool appearance managed to captivate your heart from day one.
The transition from classmates to friends was fairly painless, he was funny and smart, you enjoyed his company a lot and he did as well, you were caring, helpful and smarter than him, meaning you could help him study. Great foundations for a friendship, if it wasn’t for his stupidly good looking face and those cute freckles that don’t even let you go a night without dreaming of them.
Thinking of confessing was pretty much not an option though, as when you became friends you got to learn he’s had an all time one sided crush on his best friend since high school and that friend happened to be his own roommate.
And a guy.
While it did break your heart for a while, you noticed he did like girls after all, he was open minded and gender was not one of his concerns when choosing a partner. So it wasn’t all lost, at least not for you, one sided crushes get old, and if the right person for you comes to your life they can turn to dust. Or that’s what you told yourself at least, to find motivation.
Yamaguchi had invited you over to his dorm a couple of times already and you met this other guy before, while you could appreciate his good looks and how tall he was, he didn’t seem at all like the most lovable guy out there, they barely had a conversation and it was mostly one sided as well, just like their entire relationship. It did make you feel bad for him, but it also made your heart shine with hope. He didn’t seem so hard to defeat and Yamaguchi certainly deserved better than that.
You arrived earlier than expected to his apartment, ended up taking a taxi afraid of being late and Yamaguchi was still on his way back from school; his roommate opening the door for you.
“Um, hi! I’m Yamaguchi-kun’s friend, is he back already? I’m supposed to help him with something today.” the tall blonde just moved to the side of the door letting you into their shared small home.
“He’ll be home soon, stuck in traffic.” he just nodded towards the couch motioning for you to just sit there and wait like a good girl, quietly. But where’s the fun in that?
“Tsukishima-san right?” unwillingly he just nodded once more, unplugging the kettle from the wall.
“Tea?”
“Thank you, that would be lovely.” Tsukki wasn’t used to this type of sunny smiles, while he does have women chasing his every step, he manages to kick them all away as fast as possible; none of them ever caught his eye nor made him want to even chat with them.
But this time was different. He’s heard a lot about you from Yamaguchi and he feels like he already knows you, as weird as that sounds, he didn’t feel uncomfortable around you and that was definitely new.
“I have some fancy fruit tea my mom brought the other day, would you like to try that or green tea is fine?” why was he even bringing this out? He hasn’t even thought of this damn tea for weeks, but now he was suddenly very aware of all the snacks around the house that girls might enjoy.
“Oh I love fruity tea!” a small smile crept over his face, one that could creep someone out if seen up close, but thankfully you didn’t notice.
“It’s a berry one…is that fine?”
“Yeah that’s lovely, thank you! You’re nicer than I thought you were.” chuckling, you nervously played with the tips of your hair, while you knew you’d be safe with him, this was pretty much the first time you talked to one another and were completely alone in the house just the two of you at the moment.
“Oh? Nah, you got it right, I’m not nice…” sighing, Tsukki shook his head while preparing your tea, then he brought out a tin with cute looking cookies which were not his in the slightest, yet he set a few on a small plate and handed it over to you along with a steaming mug of delicious smelling goodness.
“I mean…just look at those cookies and fancy tea! If you weren’t nice you would have left me here on my own and stay in your room eating all this goodness by yourself.” you were so delightful, he didn’t even think it was possible for a girl to be this nice to be around. No obnoxious questions or loud laughter, no flirting. Your smiles seemed real, you were truly enjoying his treats and company, no insults were needed, he could get used to this even if that on its own was a terrifying thought.
“Alright you got me, just don’t tell anyone…would hurt my reputation...” he laughed quietly and this made you smile even more. He wasn’t as bad as you thought and that was an understatement, he was actually nice and you didn’t mind one bit sharing some of your time with him.
A little under thirty minutes passed before Yamaguchi finally arrived home. He came in panting heavily, his face red with excertion as he kicked his shoes off and ran inside. “(Y/N)?”
“Yams! I’m here in your kitchen!” confused, he walked over to where your voiced echoed from, and was welcomed by a rare sight, Tsukki was sitting next to you on the other stool, both of you holding a mug in between your hands and eating some cookies while talking about turtles. Why turtles though? What did he miss? Was Tsukki smiling just now? He had so many questions.
“Are those…my cookies…?” he let out a loud gasp, an evil looking smirk covering Tsukki’s face immediately. “Can’t give her just tea, you know…I don’t own cute food….” he wasn’t mad at him for giving away his cookies, not at all, in fact he was enjoying how cute you looked with that bunny shaped cookie pressed to your rosy lips, a great use of the cookies he won at the convenience store lottery. What threw him off a bit was that Tsukki had just taken them without asking first, is something he’s never done before at least not with things like that.
“I’m leaving, have practice.” he got up from the stool, though not without giving you a soft smile and a nod before doing so, a rare sight indeed.
“Yeah….um (Y/N) is staying for the night. I think I told you already, but that’s fine right?” a part of him wished he’d get angry, jealous even, he wanted him to look his way, to feel threatened by the lovely girl spending the night with him; and he unexpectedly did look jealous, quite a lot I would say, but not for the same reason he wanted to.
“Yeah it’s fine, I left the air mattress on the couch so she can sleep better there.” when Yamaguchi looked towards the couch the front door could be heard being closed shut as Tsukki left the apartment, startling you, yet what startled Yamaguchi wasn’t the  loud bang but the fact that Tsukki hadn’t just pulled out the air mattress for you, but also set up two pillows, sheets and a fluffy blanket, his fluffy warm beloved blanket, one not even Yamaguchi has gotten to touch before. Just what on earth did he miss?
Deciding on ignoring his friend’s confusing behavior he went back to you who immediately fed him a bunny cookie as to distract him from the entire ordeal, which earned a smile and a giggle from him.
“Thanks, I needed that. Sorry I came home so late I tried getting here faster but the traffic was awful..”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t have to wait for long and that tea was lovely~
So what did you need my help with?”
Yamaguchi’s hair has been getting longer and he wanted to do something fun with it before he had to cut it all off for his internship next year, “Oh yeah! Can you help me bleach the underside of my hair? I suck at it…”
“Sure! Just bleach? Or are you going to color it too?” Yamaguchi truly enjoyed the simplicity of this conversation. It was always like this with you, everything was so warm and cozy, lots of laughs and lingering looks, it felt different for some reason, like the entire opposite of the way how Tsukki is with him, he felt wanted.
“Just bleach for now. I think it’ll look cool. I also have been browsing online for tattoo artists, wanted your opinion with that too.” It’s been in his mind lately how he wanted to do something liberating, something that would mark a milestone, the day he decides to move on from Tsukki, to finally confront reality and be with someone who truly appreciates him and wants to be by his side, romantically, hopefully that person would be you.
“Oh show me, show me! Do you have an idea of what you want already?” scooting closer to him, you looked like a cute little girl trying to look at his screen, it was endearing, made him want to squish your face and made his heart skip a beat or two at the closeness.
“Just some lettering…though still not sure what I want it to say…maybe on my wrist, something I could cover if I wear long sleeves.”
“Oh this one looks nice!” the picture featured stylized lettering with butterflies on top of some letters of the word to accentuate the fancy turns and swishes, making it look like a fairytale title in some book. “Shall we get matching tattoos? It’s such a pretty style!”
This made Yamaguchi blush, his heart fluttering, while he hated the idea of matching tattoos within couples, it was such a pure hearted request it made him smile at the thought of sharing something like this with you.
“You mean like the very same phrase or like you have one half and I have the other?”
“I was thinking of the first one but I must admit the second one sounds even more cute.” you were blushing too, both of you were sporting a lovely pinkish skin tone, as you both smiled at each other like fools.
“Then lets do it! How about the lyrics of a song we both like? Would be more meaningful and only us two would know what is it about.” this was exciting, you honestly didn’t think he’d say yes, that’s usually reserved for couples, but you weren’t going to complain, is what you wanted after all.
You spent the entire night listening to your favorite bands and taking notes on phrases you both would find meaningful or interesting, eating some pizza and laughing at each other’s silliness until both ended up falling asleep on top of each other on the couch after his hair was done.
Yamaguchi opened his eyes first and noticed how you were dozing off on his shoulder. Your hand was fisting the side of his shirt while you nuzzled his arm like a cute tiny kitten. Made him want to kiss you, and that wasn’t normal for him. Since he remembers he’s only liked Tsukki, only wanted to kiss him, only wanted him. But you were making his heart burst every few seconds and you made him feel excited about the littlest things, life was brighter, happier, it was something he didn’t want to loose next semester if you end up in different classes. He wanted to move on with his life, to bring you as much happiness as you brought for him.
Unconsciously, he leaned closer and closer until your faces were only inches away, his nose pressed to yours, as he glanced down at you with a loving gaze.
His nose tickled yours and made you stir, though having him this close meant this was certainly a dream right? Why else would he be at a kissing distance? For sure a dream, so why not enjoy it…?...closing the short distance, you pressed your lips to his and he kissed you back right away without hesitating. It was a soft kiss, loving, tender, yet quite intense; lips molding with each other, hands gripping clothing and hair, cute mewls and little moans leaving each other’s lips every few seconds. In all truth you have no idea how long this kiss was, but as soon as the kitchen clock announced midnight, a loud horrified gasp and the front door slamming shut could be heard, Tsukki had come back from practice a bit latter than expected tonight and had witnessed the tail end of the passionate encounter.

omg the candy hearts thing is so cute 🥺 i’m excited to see everything you write for it!!
i was thinking the “I love you” with Tsushima x Yamaguchi, lee Yama? if not the vibe or someone already did that prompt or pair or something don’t feel pressured to write!
Akjeajkrkearjakerjajek YES! Friend, I love your prompts so MUCH! I haven't written for Tsukkiyama in a hot minute! I've gotcha covered! :D
I love you: "What a brave thing to say for someone so ticklish!"
“You totally cheated!”
“No way- you’re just being a sore loser!”
It was rare Tsukishima and Yamaguchi argued. Only two real topics brought out their bickering sides. The first was when Tsukishima downplayed his talents in volleyball, or Yamaguchi started to let his imposture syndrome get to his head.
The second was card games.
“No, you definitely cheated! How did you end up with 2 +4’s in your hand?” Yama declared, glaring at his boyfriend over a thick fan of Uno cards. “No way you got lucky with those!”
“Yes, cause I had time to grab extra cards while you were dealing them?” Tsukishima raised a brow, more amused than anything. He liked this side of Yamaguchi; it was a rare side of feistiness only he got to witness. “Face it, Yama; I didn’t cheat. You just suck at shuffling.”
Yamaguchi puffed, slapping down his cards as he turned away with a pout. “You’re still a dirty cheater.”
The blonde cackled, grinning as he stood, making his way over to Yamaguchi.
“What a brave thing to say..for someone so ticklish!” With that, he  attacked him, sending cards flying through the air as ten merciless fingers dug into his armpits. “Admit to being a sore loser, Yama!”
“Ahehahahha! Nohohohohoo whahahahy, yohoohohu dehehehhefinihihihitely chehhheahhahahted!” Yamaguchi cried out, laughing helplessly beneath his boyfriend. “I kohohohonow yoohohohohu dihiihihihd!”
“Oh? Do tell- how did I cheat?” Tsukishima tickled every spot he could reach, watching the brunette squeal and thrash beneath him. “Did i hide them in my sleeves? Slipped them in with a bag of chips? Sleight of hand? Come now- don’t keep me in suspense.”
Yamaguchi could only squeal for mercy, too ticklish for his own good. “I chahahahan prohohohohove iiihihihit! I dohohohoon’t hahahahve it yehehhet, buhuuhuhut I wihihihihill!”
“Sure you will, babe. I’ll be waiting.”
Send me a candy heart and I'll write a dabble for it!

"Did he finally get enough of your attitude?" Hinata teased after Tsukishima told him, very firmly, to shut up for the fifth time. His words get to him a little bit. It's not like he's like this when they're alone... No, he's nice with him. He has a nice attitude to him. Ask Yamaguchi himself. But still, maybe it is something about him. Maybe he's just not good enough for Yamaguchi anymore. Maybe he sees him as lame. Maybe he's not good enough.

Yamaguchi gripped his cane in his right hand, leaning on it slightly as he scanned the bookshelf that stood proudly in his and Tsukishima’s shared living room. His eyes eventually found an old book with brown peeling edges. He couldn’t help but smile as he reached for it.
“Kei, do you remember this?” Yamaguchi called, pulling the book from its place on the shelf, the items next to it toppling slightly, desperate to fill the empty gap he created.
“What is it, Tadashi?” Tsukishima responded from his place on the couch. Yamaguchi walked over and sat next to him, pushing the book into Tsukishima’s lap.
“Do you remember this?” Yamaguchi repeated. A small smile quickly spread across Tsukishima’s face.
“How could I ever forget,” he said as his hand gingerly traced the edge of the cover, opening it slowly. There, immediately, the two were met with a handwritten note.
‘Congratulations on Graduating!’ it read in big bold script at the top, followed by a heartfelt letter to the two of them. The handwriting was unmistakably Yachi’s- neat, put together, and perfectly spaced. At the bottom of the page was a picture of all of them in their third year of high school- Yachi, Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, Hinata, and Kageyama. They had just won a game, if Yamaguchi’s memory was to be trusted, and Suga and Daichi had attended, pressuring the five of them into a picture. ‘For prosperity!’ Suga laughed as his phone camera clicked.
“I remember how she felt bad that she gave us a joint gift.” Tsukishima smirked. Yamaguchi softly elbowed him. Despite Tsukishima’s sixty or so years of being alive, he never seemed to outgrow that smirk.
“Well, it worked out, didn’t it? Otherwise we’d have two of these on our shelves. And we both know how much space those old dinosaur and museum books take up, I don’t think we could fit another book up there if we tried!” Yamaguchi remarked, causing Tsukishima to roll his eyes.
“Says the one who keeps everything for memories sake. Our shelves are filled with your knick-knacks too.” Tsukishima nudged Yamaguchi with his elbow.
“Just turn the page.” Tsukishima smiled, as he did just as Yamaguchi requested. There they were greeted with a photo of only Yamaguchi and Tsukishima. They were standing in front of their middle school as Yamaguchi awkwardly smiled at the camera, just having gotten braces, and Tsukishima gave a particularly nasty look at the person holding the camera (Yamaguchi was almost positive it was Akiteru who took the photo).
“How did Yachi even find this picture of us?” Yamaguchi couldn’t help but laugh at his middle school self.
“I think she reached out to Akiteru.” Tsukishima grumbled, feigning annoyance.
“You should’ve smiled too, so we could both properly remember the first day of our last year of middle school when we both got braces.” Yamaguchi remarked. Tsukishima rolled his eyes.
“At least we have this picture of you in all of your middle school glory!” Yamaguchi pointed to the picture directly below the previous one. There, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima sat at a restaurant, sharing the same side of the booth as they ate and laughed together. Tsukishima was clutching his sides, mouth open wide in a smile, braces with green rubber bands on clear display, as Yamaguchi looked over at him with a huge grin plastered across his features. Food from their favorite restaurant sat in front of them on the table, clearly ignored for whatever joke had just been told.
“I can’t remember what was so funny, but it was apparently hilarious.” Yamaguchi said.
“Who even took this picture? I had never seen it before we got this scrapbook.” Tsukishima asked.
“I think one of our moms took it, but honestly I’m not that sure.” Yamaguchi glanced over to the next page. “Oh my, what about this one!” He pointed at an image of the two of them sleeping on the bus, nestled into one another. “I think Yachi took this one while we were on our way back from a game. You were so embarrassed when you saw this photo for the first time. You turned redder than a strawberry, Tsukki!” Yamaguchi couldn’t help but laugh at the slight blush that began creeping its way across Tsukishima’s features once again.
“Shut up, Yamaguchi.”
“Sorry, Tsukki.” But Yamaguchi’s smile betrayed the sentiment of his statement. He turned the page, smiling at the first picture he saw. In it, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi were high fiving, wide grins spread across both their faces. He could see Hinata in the background cheering, barely visible but still there.
“I don’t remember which game this was taken at, in all honesty.” Tsukishima said, tracing the outline of the two figures in the photo with his finger.
“Neither do I. It was probably taken by one of Karasuno’s photographers.”
“It’s a nice picture. You look happy,” Tsukishima smiled.
“It’s one of my favorites,” Yamaguchi admitted.
“Why?”
“Because you look so happy. Remember how you used to be so indifferent to volleyball? And yet you grew to love it. And now we have photographic evidence of your love for the sport.”
“I think I had the most fun when I was playing with you.” Yamaguchi looked over at Tsukishima, who was staring right back just as intently.
Yamaguchi smirked, retorting lightheartedly with, “You seemed to have a lot of fun playing for the Sendai Frogs without me.”
“I still think the best times I had were when you were on the court with me.” Tsukishima said, pointing at the next picture to change the subject. “Remember when we went to visit that museum? My mom was adamant on taking a picture of us in front of the dinosaur.”
“I loved going to museums with you, Tsukki. You always seemed so in your element, like you truly belonged there.”
“I really just liked looking at the dinosaurs.” Tsukki joked, a small smirk on his lips once more.
“I just liked seeing you happy.” Yamaguchi poked Tsukishima’s cheek, causing him to roll his eyes.
“You are the cheesiest person on the planet. I can practically feel you clogging my arteries.” Yamaguchi laughed at Tsukishima’s words, and Tsukishima just couldn’t help but smile at the melodic sound. No matter how old they grew together, Tsukishima still loved to hear Yamaguchi laugh- loved to make him laugh.
“What about this one, at the aquarium!” Yamaguchi pointed to an image of himself. His face so close to the glass you could see his breath. His palms were placed flat against the glass, one on each side of his head. And of course, there next to him was Tsukishima, looking at Yamaguchi with a soft smile.
“And what about this one?” Tsukishima pointed to the image next to it. Tsukishima was knelt on the ground looking through a telescope up at the stars, mouth open as if reporting back to Yamaguchi what he saw. Yamaguchi sat next to him in the grass, legs crossed and turned away from the camera, very obviously looking at Tsukishima.
Yamaguchi turned the page. “But you can’t forget this one.” He placed his hand under the image. It was a photograph of the two of them in Tsukishima’s backyard. Yamaguchi sat in the grass with flowers in his hands and his hair clipped back, staring intently at whatever he was doing. Next to him, Tsukishima looked over his shoulder with his legs stretched out in front of him. Yamaguchi lifted his hand to show the picture below it. It showcased what Yamaguchi had been doing in the form of two flower crowns delicately placed on top of both boy’s heads. Tsukishima had looked up just as Akiteru took the picture, and Yamaguchi was smiling at the camera, his arm slung around his best friend’s shoulder and pressing their arms tight together.
“Can you still make those?” Tsukishima asked.
“I don’t know. I haven’t in forever.”
“Maybe one day you can try again. We can take a new picture of the two of us with flower crowns. This time, with me knowing the picture is about to be taken.”
Yamaguchi laughed. “We both know the reason Akiteru didn’t warn you was because you’d never in a thousand years have let that picture be taken while in highschool!” He nudged Tsukishima.
“I remember hating that he took the picture at the time , but now, looking back, I’m glad he did. It’s a nice picture of us.” Tsukishima nudged Yamaguchi back.
As Tsukishima continued to flip through the scrapbook, he soon noticed that Yamaguchi had gone quiet. He turned his head, and saw Yamaguchi asleep on the couch, head leaned back and mouth slightly open as he breathed softly. Tsukishima chuckled to himself. Despite the two being much older now, he couldn’t help but think of all the times when they were younger and Yamaguchi would fall asleep as the two did homework together. Tsukishima grabbed the blanket from off the back of the coach, placing it over Yamaguchi. The memories of him placing the same blanket over Yamaguchi’s shoulders when he fell asleep studying immediately came to mind. Tsukishima couldn’t help but outwardly smile at his thoughts as he grabbed the scrapbook and placed it back on the shelf.
There, next to their collection of yearbooks, Tsukishima saw their abundance of family photos. Pictures of both Tsukishima and Yamaguchi’s families having picnics together, pictures of their Karasuno volleyball team reunions over the years, and even pictures of Tsukishima and Yamaguchi together when they were young. He couldn’t help but think of how naive he was back then, worried about a small crush he had on his best friend, not wanting him to find out out of fear of not liking him back. And now, Tsukishima had built a life with that old crush of his, falling deeper and deeper in love with each other every passing day.
Tsukishima picked up one of the framed photos. The image was of Tsukishima and Yamaguchi on their first day of their first year of highschool. Tsukishima was looking at Yamaguchi, obviously trying to hide a faint smile, and Yamaguchi was grinning at Tsukishima. He couldn’t help but notice just how happy Yamaguchi looked standing next to him, and he laughed at his past self for being so nervous when it seemed so obvious now that Yamaguchi was in love with him even back then.
“Everything’s going to work out, kid.” Tsukishima said to the picture, a message he almost hoped would reach his past self.
“Who are you talking to, Tsukki?” He heard Yamaguchi mumble from the couch. Tsukishima turned around, smiling at the sound of the old nickname.
“No one. Just to myself.” Tsukishima walked back towards the couch, sitting next to Yamaguchi and reaching for his hand. Yamaguchi held it and leaned his head on his shoulder, falling back asleep quickly. Tsukishima placed a small kiss on Yamaguchi’s forehead, and thought that the rest of their future together was but only the next page in their scrapbook.

kagehina as seen through tsukishima's eyes
fandom: haikyuu!!
words: 14k
pairings: hinata shouyou/kageyama tobio; tsukishima kei/yamaguchi tadashi
tags: fluff; weddings; best man's speech; getting together; pining; outsider pov; feelings realization; idiots in love; humor; canon compliant.
Tadashi ends up bringing him dinner in the bedroom, testing the office chair’s durability by fitting himself on Kei’s lap. “You could get some inspiration from the internet,” he mumbles, watching the cursor on the screen blinking against a blank document.
“The internet didn’t go through the painful torture of watching the dumbest mating ritual of the animal kingdom,” he grumbles. Tadashi’s chuckle tickles Kei’s neck, a huff of hot breath warming him to his core. If Kageyama and Hinata feel even half of this for each other —and he thinks they do— Kei owes them a nice fucking speech.
After all, he had witnessed their weird courtship from the front row. Who better than him to tell the world about just how much those two idiots were meant for each other?
[Or: Kageyama and Hinata's relationship through Tsukishima's eyes as he tries to write his best man speech.]

TsukkiYama Week, Day 3: Intimacy
Can also be read on AO3!
Rating: T
Fandom: Haikyuu!!
Pairing: Tsukkiyama (Tsukishima/Yamaguchi)
Characters: Kei Tsukishima, Tadashi Yamaguchi
Word Count: 1,371
Summary: Being childhood friends and adult boyfriends doesn't mean Kei is immune to Yamaguchi's charms.
A/N: This was big-time inspired by amburritoart’s redraw of Yamaguchi’s anniversary art! She did our boy SO much justice, god bless. Further author’s notes can be read on AO3.
If there was one thing that surprised Kei about adulthood, it was how much had stayed the same. For all of his growth throughout high school and college, he was still dry, sardonic, and reluctant to let most people see beyond his deadpan facade. He’d kept in touch with old friends while he made a few new ones, including old rivals — he still wasn’t sure how the Frogs managed to win any games with someone like Koganegawa setting for someone like Kyotani, but Kei tried not to question life’s positive surprises as much.
But the best part of his life, the part that had been around for years and years, was Yamaguchi. If Kei had known that confessing would have been so easy, so instantly reciprocated, he wouldn’t have waited until their third year to do it. Then again, he would’ve been happy to keep Yamaguchi in his life no matter what their relationship was like, platonic or romantic. Being able to kiss him and hold him was just a bonus to being able to see his smile and hear his laughter everyday.
Their relationship wasn’t the only thing that had changed with the passage of time. Another one of those things was…
“Tsukki?”
Kei dragged his eyes away from Yamaguchi’s fingers undoing the buttons at his cuffs, but that just meant he got an eyeful of his loosened tie and undone collar before he finally reached those warm eyes under brows that were furrowed with concern. “Hm?”
“You ok? You kinda zoned out there.”
With a jolt, he realized he was just…standing there, a little too far for Yamaguchi to comfortably take the tea in Kei’s hand, which was threatening to go limp in his daze. He quickly stepped closer to the couch, keeping his eyes fixed on Yamaguchi’s. “Ah, yeah. I’m fine, just…tired.”
The worry on Yamaguchi’s face melted into knowing amusement as he coughed out a laugh and took the offered mug. “Koganegawa trying out new sets again?”
“Mm…something like that. I’m gonna…go…make dinner.” Kei forced himself to turn away from where Yamaguchi was sprawled against the back of the couch, trying to remember what he was going to cook instead of how much he wanted to…
Focus, for fuck’s sake.
Yamaguchi had always been good-looking. Kei was certain he would’ve fallen for him no matter what he looked like — he was so impossibly lovable, who wouldn’t fall for him — but his dark, warm eyes, constellation freckles, and thick, soft hair certainly helped. Kei could remember the handful of times his boyfriend had needed to wear a button down and tie growing up, and he could also remember the swoop his stomach took each time.
But somewhere along the way, Yamaguchi had gone from cute to handsome. Maybe it was the way his jaw and lanky frame had filled out, maybe it was the way his insecurity had settled into an understated confidence that sometimes belied his tendency to over-clarify whatever he said.
Maybe it was the way his warm gaze had gained a knowing edge that seemed to cut straight through Kei’s facade to what he was truly thinking and feeling. It was an edge that Kei desperately hoped wouldn’t be used now.
“Can I help with anything?”
Kei jumped and nearly gave himself whiplash from how quickly he looked over his shoulder from the fridge. Somehow Yamaguchi had entered the kitchen without him noticing, setting his empty mug in the sink and hopping onto the counter with a casual ease that spoke to how he always sat there when he wanted to keep Kei company.
Usually Kei wouldn’t think anything of it, but usually Yamaguchi would change out of his work clothes. Now it took everything in Kei to keep his eyes fixed on Yamaguchi’s, and not on the slender collarbones that peeked out from his open collar, nor the tempting sample of his sternum that disappeared into his shirt…his shirt that was unfortunately still buttoned and not open to serve as curtains to the stage that was Yamaguchi’s body.
Jesus Christ. He saw Yamaguchi in his work clothes everyday. It didn’t matter that he usually changed into a t-shirt and loose pants the moment he got home — that was no excuse for Kei’s mind wandering more than it did in high school.
“Um.” At least his voice didn’t crack like a prepubescent boy. “Can you cut the garlic and ginger?”
“Sure. How many cloves?”
The horny fog in Kei’s mind cleared up just enough for him to raise an eyebrow at Yamaguchi, whose mouth had a playful tilt. “If you need to ask, then I’m going to have to ask you to leave my kitchen.”
“Oh, your kitchen, huh?” Yamaguchi snickered. “You know, one day you’re gonna add way too much garlic to a dish, and then this’ll be my kitchen.”
“There’s no such thing as too much garlic,” Kei sniffed as he dug out the bag with the leftover half-garlic and ginger. “Catch.”
This he was used to, the easy way they worked together in the kitchen and the easier way they joked and chatted with each other. It was like a little assembly line: Kei dug out the vegetables and herbs and chicken from the fridge, and tossed each one to Yamaguchi, who caught and lined them up along the counter. “Are we having fried rice for dinner?” he guessed.
“That’s the plan. Is that ok?”
“Of course!”
Kei bit back a smile as he gathered the sauces he needed. There was no way he was going to risk tossing glass bottles across the kitchen, no matter how good they were at it.
But that meant he had to approach Yamaguchi, and keep himself from dropping the bottles, grabbing him, and forgetting about dinner entirely. It was a close thing — the sight of Yamaguchi rolling his sleeves up to his elbows had Kei dropping the sauces to the counter with a dangerously loud clatter, making Yamaguchi jump and eye him with fresh concern.
“Uh,” Kei started, pleased with the way his voice didn’t tremble, “shouldn’t you change out of your work clothes? If you’re going to help with dinner?”
“Hm? Oh, probably.” Yamaguchi looked down at his loosened tie and unbuttoned collar with a small smile, a smile he turned on Kei when he looked back up. And…fuck, it was his secretive smile, the one that fit perfectly with the knowing edge of his eyes. “But I like seeing you try to act like you wouldn’t rather eat me instead of dinner.”
Silence fell over them as they stared at each other, sly brown eyes against startled golden eyes. “You…,” Kei stuttered.
“Yeah?”
“You…you little tease.”
He wasn’t mad, not really. It was impossible to stay mad when he was faced with those glittering eyes and that cheeky smile. But he did feel more of his restraint slip away as his gaze drifted from Yamaguchi’s teasing expression to his hands, which were done rolling up his sleeves and were now holding onto the edge of the counter. His grip made his veins create tempting lines along his muscles, and then those muscles were shifting with the movement of a hand coming up to brush against Kei’s. “Sorry, Tsukki.” He didn’t sound very sorry at all.
“How…” Kei swallowed against his dry throat. “How hungry are you?”
“For you or for dinner?”
“Tadashi.”
Yamaguchi’s sweet smile was in stark contrast to the fingers brushing the inside of Kei’s wrist. “Mm…I think dinner can wait.”
Kei barely gave himself time to breathe, “Good,” before he descended on Yamaguchi, hands cupping his cheeks and lips immediately covering his. He could feel Yamaguchi smiling into the kisses, and that just made him press even closer and wrap his arms around Yamaguchi’s waist. Then there were legs hooking around his hips, and with that, dinner was forgotten, along with the ingredients they had already set out. Kei was only focused on pressing Yamaguchi close and picking him up from the countertop to carry him to the bedroom.
If he could have his way, then maybe the vegetables wouldn’t be in any state to be cooked by the time they were done. But oh well. There was always delivery.

Chapter 2: Jealousy
•───────•°•❀•°•───────•
There was a feeling Tsukishima was very familiar with regardless of how much he’d deny it.
That one feeling that claws at you so painfully that you start fearing for your life. Your blood pressure goes up, your teeth clench, even breathing becomes a task and not particularly an easy one.
While feeling it for his brother was definitely a hard battle to win, he just never thought he’d get to feel it in the safest environment he’s ever been at, by the hand of the person he trusts the most.
He’s always been the best of the two, the best at volleyball, the tallest one, the one who gets called out by sports scouts, the one to get a sports scholarship and sign a pro league contract.
But this time around he felt dirt low.
While to others he’s always going to be seen as the best, to Tsukki Yamaguchi was the toughest contender there was. He’s sweet, caring, cute, and a bunch more of adjectives he’d never for the life of his will be called by someone.
While being cute and sweet is nothing he’s ever wished to be or considered necessary, when fighting for a lady’s heart those were attributes that could easily win over his tall handsome frame.
He was scared.
Scared of knowing more of what’s going on, scared of how strongly he felt about this whole ordeal, scared of loosing the first girl he’s ever liked, scared of loosing his best friend.
Breathing turning to gasps and a dense fog clouding his brain, he threw his sports bag on their polished entrance and marched his way over to the couch.
The sight was very different for all the parties involved, for Tsukki was a terrifying yet equally arousing scene. Your eyes were glossy, just as much as your parted lips were, swollen and covered by a sheer layer of what undeniably was Yamaguchi’s saliva. Your hair out of place, the pretty hair pin you were wearing before he left for practice was hanging dangerously low by your ear, the neckline of your pretty dress completely off centered showing your deliciously looking collarbones.
Yamaguchi on the other hand looked mad, annoyed, a look he’s never seen in his friend before.
For you though, even if Tsukki was marching your way, your eyes were glued to Yamaguchi’s face.
He looked so distraught, it was pretty obvious he didn’t want to deal with this, kissing you was way more fun and he wanted to continue where you two left. His frown accentuated his freckles, making him look like a true piece of art. His tussled freshly dyed hair tangling with his piercings, there were traces of sweat on the side of his neck and his shirt has been tugged so hard by you so many times that one of his arms was now completely bare, the sleeve now barely covering his shoulder.
But for Yamaguchi it was an oddly refreshing one. While he was annoyed, he never thought he’d feel so relieved by not feeling paniky in the presence of Tsukishima. Normally he’d be freaking out, trying to explain what was going on, making sure he wouldn’t misunderstand the situation. But there was nothing to misunderstand about this. He was kissing you, yes, heavily, on their couch. He felt like a new man, finally being liked back by someone he liked as well was a feeling like no other. Unrequited love is not fun, but he didn’t know anything else besides that until this day, and he was livid.
On one side he had the man he’s always loved clearly jealous, but on his other side he had those soft lips that fit so nicely against his own, that soft squishy body that felt so warm and welcoming in his arms. He wanted nothing more than to go back to this new heaven of his, hormone drunk Yamaguchi was a bit scary.
The moment Tsukishima reached the couch, he wrapped his large hand around your arm lifting you up from Yamaguchi’s embrace and up on your feet in a matter of seconds.
“Just what on earth are you doing, you pervert?!” his grip on your arm was so strong, but never hurting you in the slightest, his eyes throwing imaginary lasers at Yamaguchi’s face.
“Ugh…kissing the girl I like…?”
“I can see that, but do you forget where you are?”
“In my house?”
“Have some decency, will you??? What kind of guy brings a lady to his shared apartment and paws on her out in the open as if she was some kind of animal? You disgust me!” Tsukishima was huffing at this point, his face red, anger being all that was present in it at the moment, not even the tiredness of the intense practice he had just now or how late he arrived home from it affecting him at all.
Yamaguchi was beyond speechless, still very much annoyed, even more so now that he had you hidden behind his broad back like you were his property or something. But he’s never yelled at him this way, he was literally spitting venom with his every word. So much hatred could be felt from the blonde, it was overwhelming.
“Um, Tsukishima-san? I think there’s a missunderstanding here…” removing his hand from your arm gently, you walked to Yamaguchi’s side, sitting on a little empty corner of the couch, pressing your cheek to his shoulder. “I’m doing this because I want to. I’m sorry if seeing us this way bothered you, but I swear he’s never mistreated me in anyway.” Yamaguchi’s scowl turned to a soft smile, his hand reaching for yours, it was certainly refreshing, having someone on your side no matter the circumstances.
“Well, you shouldn’t be ok with this, a girl must be treated differently, privacy and intimacy go hand in hand. This is my house too and I will not tolerate such indecency.” He walked around the living room picking up the inflatable mattress bag with one hand and the pillows and blanket with the other. “Follow me if you wish to stay tonight. Otherwise I will call you a taxi.”
Yamaguchi’s grip around your hand tightened at his words, in reality he wanted to spend the night with you, hold you in his arms all night, wake up to your beautiful smile. It was something he’s been thinking about for a while now and thought he’d get to do it tonight.
Whispering to his ear gently you reassured him, your thumb rubbing the inside of his wrists lovingly, “I’ll see you in the morning.” A soft kiss graced his cheek and in that very moment even being yelled by Tsukishima was completely worth it.
“Sweet dreams, beautiful.” tucking a lock of hair behind your ear, he leaned closer to kiss your forehead, a lovestruck smile shining on his handsome face.
The scene was beautiful to anyone seeing from afar, but it was outright terrifying for Tsukki. He’s never seen a smile like that on Yamaguchi, and the way you were so gentle and loving towards him, it ate at his insides like evil flesh eating bacteria.
“Hurry, I don’t have all night.”
Following after Tsukishima you stepped into his room, he was plugging the air mattress getting it ready for you. “You’ll sleep here, I don’t remember when was the last time I changed my sheets, don’t want you sleep there.”
This made you chuckle, his way of worrying about you was so cute and funny, he clearly had no idea of what he was doing yet it was clear he wanted you to be comfortable and unbothered by this whole thing. “Thank you, I’ll be ok. You’re probably tired, I can take care of the rest.”
“I’m fine…” as he waited for the mattress to be completely inflated he walked around his room hanging his jacket on the wall and getting a few things from his closet.
“I’ll take the couch. So don’t even think on sneaking into Yamaguchi’s room. You’d have to walk by me to do so and I have the lightest sleep ever.” the playful glare he threw your way was amusing, he was very much still irritated but just seeing your beautiful face seemed to calm his rage.
“I won’t, don’t worry. I’m sorry you had to see something so embarrassing this late at night.”
Memories of your little moans triggered a flare of anger raging within his chest, why was he this angry? Is not like he had any right to this, yes, Yamaguchi confessed his love towards him before, but this had nothing to do with Yamaguchi, in reality he would be very much relieved by this whole situation if you weren’t the one in the receiving end, it was in this very moment he realized he was jealous, so very much jealous that it hurt his stomach, it burned, made him want to throw up.
“It’s fine…just…well I thought you deserved a better treatment….made me angry for some reason.” smiling so beautifully up at him, you handed him his pillow, “I swear he didn’t do anything without my consent. But know I appreciate your concern, I find it very cute and endearing.”
His cheeks were blazing at this point, your beautiful eyes shining in the low light of his room and that sweet little smile of yours was the prettiest thing in this universe.
“You’re the cute one.” It was nothing but a quiet mumble, though you heard it loud and clear, making you blush a little yet decided to pretend like you didn’t.

When Tsukishima got out of his room he found Yamaguchi by their window, sitting on the little window bench while sipping on some tea. He looked distraught, yet awfully happy, a very confusing assortment of feelings mind you, it was like an aura of peace surrounded him and he didn’t know how to feel about this.
“She’s sleeping on the air mattress.”
“Thought you’d give her your bed…” his tone was nothing but sarcastic, he felt the blow smack on his face.
“It’s dirty…”
“You worry a bit too much over someone else’s girl…”
“Is she your girlfriend…?”
He just nodded, while you hand’t talked about it, it was clear you both felt the same and he didn’t want to waste more time.
“This afternoon she said she was your classmate and friend…the title ‘girlfriend’ was very much missing from the conversation…”
“Things change…”
“In an afternoon?”
“In a few minutes really. Love works that way.” Tsukki could feel the sting of his words burn within his soul. Fear? That was something he didn’t feel often enough to recognize such a troubled sensation.
“You move on quite quickly…” that hurts. He didn’t mean to guilt trip him, yet he didn’t know what else to do, his emotions were taking the best of him.
“If you count eight years of unrequited love as quick…then I guess I do…”
“You’re not using her to forget about me, do you?” a loud gasp left Yamaguchi’s lips, an urge of throwing his piping hot drink on his roommate’s face overwhelming him to his core.
“How dare you…I’m not like that and you know it! She’s special to me, she actually cares for me, likes me back, listens to all I have to say, supports me no matter what the issue is…She’s a light I didn’t know I needed in my life until I met her…She’s not something I’d mess up with, ok?”
While he was being completely honest, he was omitting from his speech how this same afternoon he still wished he looked his way, how he still wished Tsukki got jealous of the entire situation. But it was not a lie, you did change his way of thinking just by hanging out with him a few hours. It all felt so natural, like it was meant to be that way, just the feeling of you in his arms, the feeling of your lips gracing his soft skin, the tone of your voice when you talked to him, always softer than when talking to others, always so gentle and full of love and understanding. It did things to his heart, it made him feel wanted, loved, it made him feel good, made him want to move on from that miserable daily discomfort of not being able to speak his mind or act upon his feelings. With you, he could do whatever he pleased, he was free to show you his affection, free to tell you whatever that was in his mind. You made him feel comfortable in his own skin, never judged him, never discouraged him from pursuing his true self.
To Yamaguchi you were a path of light that led towards a bright nurturing future.
To Tsukishima you were the only person to ever move his heart, the only one to ever catch his eye, the only one who made him wonder what it would be like to be with someone, yet he knows he has the shorter end of the stick in this situation.
“Hurt her and I will kick your ass…”
“You like her too, don’t you…?”
“I guess…”
“You just met her this afternoon…”
“Things change…that’s how love works…” getting his words back on his face was more than confusing and troublesome for Yamaguchi, he did manage to get stoic Tsukishima jealous, it seems, yet not in the way he originally thought it would, the thought of this entire thing backfiring was a terrifying one.
“She likes me back, just so you know…”
“I’m not blind…I saw her tongue go into your throat, literally…” this caused Yamaguchi to chuckle, the air was still thick, heavy with unshared feelings.
“So unrequited love, huh…? How did you deal with this for eight years…? You masochist…”
“I’m persistent…”
“I’m not…”
“Then it’ll be easier on you…”
“I sure hope so…but please refrain from kissing in public areas of the house…”
“I’ll take her to my room next time…”
“You filthy animal…”
They both could swear they heard your lovely giggles from a distance, but they’re both very much in love right now and were probably imagining things, or so they thought, you could actually hear everything they were saying from the comforts of your sleeping arrangements.
Tsukki had forgotten to close the door.
