Travelling time with the team and landing in 1955 wasn’t as bad as being stuck in 1955. After the mission to rescue Agent Sousa the Zephyr left unexpectedly, leaving you stranded.
The first few days you tried to reach the radio frequency you knew they used, but it was pointless. There was no way to know where or when they were, no way to reach them.
You walked into the bar across the street and nearly fell from exhaustion into one of the stools, your head in your hands.
“Rough day?” The lady behind the counter asked.
“Hmm?” You raised your head. “More like rough week, but yes.”
“Want any coffee?”
“Why not, if I’m gonna be stuck here why not enjoy it a bit,” you shrugged.
“Wanna talk about it?” She offered.
“Not much to say, really. I was… travelling with some friends and I got stranded, if you can call it that. I can’t reach them anywhere…”
“Maybe they’ll come back, you never know,” she said, pouring you a cup of newly brewed coffee.
“I doubt it, but thanks.”
You kept coming to the restaurant because it was the only place you had someone to talk to, really… And also they have really good croissants.
As you drank the cup Angie approached, “Need anything else, Sugar, a cookie?”
“Uh, nah, all good. So what can someone do around here?” You asked.
“Like tourism?”
You shook your head, “To get some money. It looks like I might be staying here for sometime, it might be time to get a job.”
“Oh, well, we’re always hiring, you seem like you’d look good in green," she said, leaning from the counter.
“Funny, you think they’d take me?”
“Would be their loss if they didn’t… Tell me another of your stories,” she said, taking a bite from the cake you ordered for the both of you.
“Which one?”
”Your favourite one.”
“Well, there was one time, two of my friends got split up. You see, these two, they’re meant for each other… But, they didn’t have much luck at first…” You kept telling her about the time when Fitz jumped into another planet for Simmons, and Angie immersed herself even deeper in the story.
She always seemed impressed by them, although she thought they were just stories you invented. Still, every time you ordered something and she had some time to spare, you told her a story.
“That was awesome! How do you come up with these things, y/n?”
“I’ve had a pretty… wild life, per se,” you shrugged.
“I’m sure you have, Sugar,” she smiled.
“I promise, they’re a hundred percent true!” You defended.
“Oh, I bet,” she chuckled. Not believing a word you'd just said.
“How ‘bout you tell me a story,” you eagerly asked.
“Oh, I don’t have any great stories to tell, darling. Maybe someday you could show me some of that wild life, huh?” She grinned.
You almost choked on your coffee, “I- Uh- I mean, if you want,” you swallowed.
“Relax, darling,” she chuckled. “It doesn’t have to mean anything if you don’t want it to.” She said a bit resigned.
“No… I mean, yes. I want it to mean something, if you do…?”
Christ, now you were making a mess of yourself.
“I really do, Sugar,” she smiled and so did you. “So, wanna get out of here after my shift?”
“Yes, where would you like to go?” You asked, grabbing a hold of her hand.
“Somewhere worthy of a good story.”
“With you anywhere is worthy of a story,” you smiled.
You did make a lot of memories and stories, and you had your happily ever after, indeed.
