August 2020 Kylee had no right taking on a project this big after only drawing digitally for a month😂😂, but @icanbringyouincold has recently revamped my excitement for Trouble on Jegzo, so I guess I’m reposting this monstrosity of a fanfic cover and letting you all know that Chapter 6 will be released soon🤣😬😘

Commissions are currently closed until I finish the ones I have. Linearts are almost done, so there will be a big post of finished commissions before the year is over, so be watching out for that! I plan on opening commissions up again mid-January.💕
If you’ve sent me a drawing request, I’m still planning on getting to those after I’m done with my commissions and other WIPs. Honestly there are some great ideas waiting in my inbox, so thank you so much!
A few of you may have seen my Instagram stories about an upcoming animation I’ve been working on (featuring Tara’s story up until she’s made a Jedi Knight). As a little update, I’m still in the storyboard process and am working hard to get my skill level to where it needs to be for the project. This is my first time doing animation and it’s incredibly hard and rewarding! The project will hopefully be completed in the first half of 2021.
I first picked up an iPad and Apple Pencil in June. I was hoping that by trying digital art, my anxiety would get better and hoooo boi, let me tell you—it has worked wonders. Since then, I’ve not only met amazing people and joined the fanart communities on Tumblr & Instagram, but I’ve also learned so much as an artist. I’m making “A Look Back at My Art in 2020” post, which will be up on Dec. 31st. Practice makes progression!
WRITING
“We’ll Bring Him Back” received so much love and support; you guys are seriously the best. I’m currently editing chapter 2 and am hoping to find some time to finish it soon.
Chapter 6 of “Trouble on Jegzo” has been sitting dormant in my drafts for months now, I’m so sorry!😭 If you guys would like to see it be continued sooner than later, just send me an ask/message and I’ll take it to heart. I hit a writing block for it a while back, but I could see myself getting back into it after a session of writing sprints & brainstorms.
I’m currently working on the first draft of a fantasy series and I’m so excited to share it with the world. I’ll be hosting occasional live write-ins on my YouTube channel and Instagram (& possibly Twitch?), so feel free to join me if you need to get some words down on paper or a good writing sprint to up your motivation.
YOUTUBE
My first YouTube video was meant to be posted a couple of weeks ago, but upon filming I realized I could really use some better equipment. After saving up a little (and taking advantage of some sweet Black Friday deals😏), I now have a ring light, phone stand, and tripod, so that first video should be posted within the next few days!
For my first YouTube video, I’m taking the advice of my followers on Instagram and talking about how to create an original character. I’m actually super passionate about this and am really excited!!!
You can subscribe to my YouTube channel here!
MILESTONE
Today I realized I just hit 280 followers. Thank you all SO MUCH for sticking around and interacting. It’s been amazing to find a (wild and chaotic) online community that’s passionate about the same stuff I am. You’re all the best.😘

Trouble on Jegzo: Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Author’s Note:
Did someone say Soft Rex? Soft Kix? 👀 *slowly places chapter at your feet and retreats back into the darkness*
Summary:
In this 10 part fic, you are a Mirialan Jedi Knight, tasked with temporarily leading the 501st while Anakin and Ahsoka are called away for a covert mission.
While leading this elite (albeit sassy) group of clones on a simple mission to investigate the disappearance of Senator Riyo Chuchi on the ice planet of Jegzo, things don’t go quite as planned, and you find yourself having to form strong bonds with the captain of the 501st and the rest of your men to make it out alive.

Fic below cut:
Chapter 5/10: Senator Found
It’s a slow and painful journey out of the caves, but you manage. You always do.
Somehow, with your weight being supported by Rex and Jesse, you’re able to maneuver through the debris from the explosion and make your way to what’s left of the tunnel you entered through.
Everything aches and it’s growing more and more difficult to breathe, but that’s to be expected given everything that’s taken place. Shakily, you let Jesse pull you through a narrow opening in the wall, barely registering what he’s saying to Rex about light up ahead.
Neither trooper comments on Dooku or what comes next, but you know they’re trying to get out of here as fast as possible and you try to pick up your pace.
“They’re still buried in all that ice,” you say quietly, trying to reassure them. The words sound choked, but you swallow and continue. “We’ll make it out.”
Everything blurs for a moment and you stumble. Jesse squeezes your waist and hoists you up again, panting lightly as Rex says something about needing a medic.
You grit your teeth and blink through the spots in your vision, drawing on the Force for clarity and ignoring the gnawing pain in your ribs, your throat, your soul.
There’s a strong draft up ahead, and light, just as Jesse had mentioned. You’re almost out.
Jesse halts in his tracks and waits as Rex climbs up a chunk of ice to help you both up. The captain simply nods and reaches down, catching you just above the elbow and pulling you up the block. Finally, the three of you make it out into the storm once again.
Fives and Echo are waiting for you, anxiety practically dripping from their Force signatures.
“There they are!” Echo shouts, bolting towards you. Fives follows suit.
“That was some distraction, dikut,” Rex grunts, continuing to help you stagger forward through the wind towards his brothers. The bikes, as you expected, are untouched except by the layer of snow blanketing them.
“Sorry sir, we got er—a little carried away.” Fives rubs the back of his head sheepishly, helmet nowhere to be seen. The tips of his ears are red from the cold and there’s a hint of of curiosity that lingers around him. “Did we take down any Seppies?”
Slowly, you pry your arm from Jesse’s shoulder and steady yourself.
“Plenty. You saved our lives in there. Thank you, troopers.”
“What happened? Are you alright, General?” Echo asks, taking off his helmet as well so he see you more clearly. The wind whips your open parka and you bite back a shiver.
“I’m alright. We need to get out of here. It seems the Governor of Jegzo has made a new friend.”
Fives quirks an eyebrow, starting forward as you sway once again. You stop him before he can reach you, holding out a hand and squeezing your eyes shut for a moment before righting yourself.
Jesse follows Echo to start up the bikes.
“Dooku,” Rex mumbles, his voice barely audible through the howl of the wind.
You don’t need the Force to feel Fives’ surprise.
“Kriff.”
Your grief drifts ever closer to the forefront of your mind as he regards you warily and sets his jaw. Grief you’ve spent months overcoming. You spare a glance into the tundra and blink back the tears that threaten to fall.
“Bikes are up and running, General!” Echo calls, and you slowly pull away from Rex.
“We need to make it back to the gunships. Did you manage to signal Admiral Yularen, Fives?”
“No, ma’am.” He deflates slightly. “It looks like the storm is coming in faster than we calculated. No message is making it past the atmosphere.”
They all look to you. As their General, their commanding officer, it’s your job to get them out of this. You run solutions through your head, but your judgement is clouded—body in too much pain.
“The gunships!” Jesse suggests out of nowhere. You all turn to him. “The transmitters have longer range. Hawk might be able to get a message through.”
The gunships, indeed. You nod your approval, careful to avoid aggravating your injuries as you pull your hood up. The tight bun at the nape of your neck has come loose and fallen back into the dark braid you’re so used to having. You take as deep of a breath as you can manage.
“The Jedi Council needs to know about Dooku’s presence here.”
“We did manage to contact Corric,” Fives adds eagerly as you all make your way towards the speeders. “They met Separatist opposition in the village, but were able to push through not long ago.”
“Good,” you say. “And the Senator?”
“She’s there and unharmed, ma’am. Corric and his men have her in the village hall. Last we heard, they were making camp for the night.”
“General, I suggest we get off this planet immediately,” Rex says. As if to prove his point, he gestures towards the giant wall of ice you’ve only just escaped. The Sith Temple. “It’s unlikely Dooku’s dead.”
You grimace and squeeze your elbows.
“There’s no way the men can make it back to the gunships with Senator Chuchi before that storm hits, Rex. We can’t just leave them here. Not when Dooku is still a threat. We need to meet them in the village and pray Dooku’s trapped here as we are.” You pause and raise your comm as the men mount their bikes and you’re left with just Rex at your side. “Hawk, do you read?”
Muffled static, then, “Yes, General! Hawk here!”
“We’ve made it out of the ice caves, but our long range transmitters aren’t working to contact Admiral Yularen. I need you to take the gunships back to the Resolute before you’re snowed in and relay a message for me.”
“Yes, sir. Ready and waiting.”
As quickly as you can manage, you explain the situation.
“And what about you? If you hurry you can probably make it to the gunships,” Hawk says.
“We’ll head for the village and meet the Senator and the rest of the 501st there. Dooku’s ship will still be here in the morning. He won’t be leaving anytime soon if this storm is as bad as it sounds. We’ll find him when it’s blown over.”
“Copy that, sir.” The connection is severed and you sigh, zipping your parka up slowly so as not to cause more pain in your ribs.
“General,” Rex stiffens, then hesitates. “Dooku... he mentioned the 500th. Are you... are you alright?”
“I’m okay,” you smile reassuringly, but you can tell from his reaction that it doesn’t reach your eyes. “Make sure you and your men stay close to me on our way to the village.”
Rex doesn’t protest further, so you get into your bike and sigh as the glass dome seals shut around you and heat fills the compartment. Heat you know will take the blissful numbing away in a few moments.
You take one last look at the ice wall before you. It stretches far into the gray sky, past where you can see, and a chill entirely unrelated to the cold itches up your spine. The darkness, the Sith... you’re ready to leave this place.
It’s time to get your men and the Senator off this planet.
You turn your bike around and put it into full acceleration, leaving the temple to disappear in the sheets of snow behind you. Somehow, it feels like you’re leaving him behind again, and the invisible fist around your throat returns for a moment.
As expected, halfway to the village, the storm hits.
Rex and the others stay close on your tail as you navigate through the blizzard and cliffs, and finally, the village comes into view. Glancing down at the coordinates on your wrist comm, the five of you finally make it to the town hall. At least, you hope that’s what it is as the dome of your speeder hisses open and the sleet hits you in a gust so hard you shout.
Motioning your men to the doors, you all stumble up the steep stone steps and through the large oak doors.
Warmth washes over you and flickering torches against pale stone make you blink. The men behind you stomp the snow from their boots and the doors groan shut again.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you’d been holding and glance around.
The men of the 501st are scattered around the hall.
Cots lay littered around, propped up along the walls or in clusters on the floor. A few men sit and munch on ration bars while others talk quietly in small groups. The Jegzoans that scurry past give you no heed and carry bundles of blankets too big for them. You can’t help the sigh of relief that escapes you.
It seems the news of Jegzo’s alliance with the Separatists is a new development, one that hasn’t reached the ears of its people yet. For now, your men are safe here.
Corric and a few other clones have seen you enter and make their way over. Glued to their side is a small Jegzoan man, hands balled into small fists at his sides.
“General,” Corric greets. “Glad to see you all made it.”
You give him a curt nod and turn to Rex.
“Go with him if you don’t mind, Captain. I need to speak with a few others before I join you. I’ll need a full report in a moment.”
Rex nods, and he and the others disperse towards different areas of the hall.
“Master Jedi.” The small man bows his head. His voice is thick with an accent you didn’t pick up fromthe Governor, and you strain to catch what he’s saying through the slight ringing in your ears. “I am Tooli, the chief of this village. We were conducting negotiations with the young Senator of Pantora when the Separatist forces invaded. I apologize for this chaos. What is the meaning of all this?”
“I thank you for your hospitality towards my men, Tooli,” you bow your head in thanks and lower your voice. “I fear your government has aligned with the Separatists.”
His bright eyes widen. ”Impossible! How can this be?”
“I wish I could tell you. We were met by your governor and Count Dooku in the ice caves south of here. Do you have any information on the temple there?”
Tooli shudders at the mention of Dooku’s name. “South? No, we do not venture there. The tundra is dangerous and few who brave it ever return.”
You sigh. “I understand. We will do what we can to help you against the Separatists when this storm clears. For now, my men need rest.”
He bows again. “There is food and shelter here. Your Senator is there.”
He points in the direction of a small makeshift medical station, where the small Pantoran sits stiffly on one of the cots as clones are treated around her. You make your way towards her, masking your limp the best you can, and her gold eyes light up when she sees you approaching.
“Senator Chuchi, it is a relief to see you alive.” You glace at the small bandage around her arm. “Are you alright?”
“I thank you for coming to save me, Master Jedi. I am quite well thanks to you and your men.”
“Tara Ohvala, please.” You lay a gentle hand on her shoulder and take a seat beside her. “What did the Separatists want with you, Senator?”
“I... I don’t know,” she furrows her brow and pushes a lilac strand of hair behind her ear. Her gaze drifts to her bandage and she takes a deep breath. “I’ve been their prisoner for days now, but they never asked any questions. It was all just droids.”
You nod in understanding. “I fear you were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was too late for negotiations, it would seem.”
“Chief Tooli and his people have been nothing but kind to us here,” Senator Chuchi says, looking up at you again. You notice the small bacta patch peeking out from her hairline. “But if the Jegzoans have truly aligned with the Separatists, it is not safe to stay here.”
“We’ll freeze to death anywhere else.” You stand once again, trying to keep your tone light. “This storm doesn’t look good. Fortunately for us, if we can’t get out, no one else can get in. Get some rest, Senator. You’re safe now.”
“My thanks, Tara.”
As you move from cot to cot, touching shoulders here and offering the Jegzoans words of thanks there, Rex approaches with a medic in tow. The man’s hair is cropped short and spots of blood and dirt contrast the typical blue of the 501st armor.
His name—you rub your temple as you try to recall. Somehow, it evades you through the steady progression of your disorientation.
“General, this is Kix, our medic,” Rex offers.
“Kix. Good.” You shift your weight to your other side, dropping your hand to your ribs as a wave of nausea ebbs through you. “What’s the report on the men?”
“We caught the clankers by surprise, ma’am. A few got busted up pretty bad, but nothing too serious. You on the other hand, General—“ His gaze flits over your body. A medic’s gaze, calculating every tremor and wince. You can tell he silently notes the way your hand is settled on your ribs and your parka is ripped. “I need to get you fixed up. Let’s just get this coat off so we can assess the damage.”
“Thank you,” you whisper, slowly sitting down on the cot he leads you to. The moment you’re seated, another bout of dizziness hits. You close your eyes and hold your breath as he begins helping you out of your coat, reaching out into the Force for anything to ground you here in this moment.
You’re met with nothing but the screams you had heard earlier. The voices of your battalion, the yellow eyes of the man who had slaughtered them.
It’s Rex’s breath catching that snaps you out of your trance.
“What happened? Are these... burns?” Kix asks softly.
You open your eyes and glance down. Your simple black tunic and white shirt beneath are ripped in places and slightly charred in others. The memory of the Force lightning sends a shudder through you that you’re unable to suppress.
“Count Dooku,” Rex explains quietly.
“Right.” Kix examines you with steady hands, gently prodding until you gasp when he presses your side. His brow furrows.
The scanner in his hand moves over the area and he flips it off. He meets your gaze with eyes that seem overwhelmingly darker than his brothers’. A medic’s eyes.
“That’ll be two fractured ribs. Nothing punctured, luckily. Light abrasions on your arms, neck, collar bone... The electricity looks like it shocked your system pretty bad, but it’s nothing a few bacta patches and bacta cream won’t help soothe for now.”
You raise an eyebrow. “Have you ever seen the side effects of Force lightning before, Kix?”
Kix cocks his head and Rex gives you a look that reads, if you only knew.
“Let’s just say General Skywalker has had a wide variety of injuries.”
“And Commander Tano,” Rex points out. Kix chuckles, and the sound surprises you.
His steady fingers touch a particularly deep cut you hadn’t felt in the cold and you wince. He apologizes under his breath and seems to notice something, gently pulling the thick collar of your white shirt down to touch your throat.
“Were you choked?”
“That would be Dooku again.” You swallow thickly and meet his amber gaze. His brow furrows and it’s then that you notice the Force surrounding him is heavy and dark for a moment.
“Not the worst you’ve seen,” you add. It isn’t a question. His eyes fill with something close to melancholy as he draws back.
“No.” He pauses, then adds, “Rest.”
“Thank you, Kix. I’ll be fine.”
As he passes Rex, he says, “I have something for the headache too.”
He injects something into your arm before you can ask how he knew about your headache and the pain in your ribs lessens with every breath. The miracle of bacta.
Kix leaves without another word and goes about washing his hands in a basin the Jegzoans have brought in.
Rex sits beside your cot and leans his head back, placing his helmet on the stone floor. It’s then that you notice Jesse leaning against the wall closest to you, keeping his distance but watching you nervously. Relief floods from him as soon as he realizes you’ll be alright.
“Thank you two for earlier. I owe you my life.” You hope the sincerity in your voice isn’t lessened by the horrors of earlier still looming in your thoughts.
You need to meditate, you realize with a sigh.
“Nah, we’re even now, General.” Jesse smiles before pushing off the wall to leave. “And Fives got to shoot something. It was about time. He was makin’ me nervous.”
The voices in the hall seem to die down a little as the medicine starts working on your throbbing head and you scoot further back into the cot.
It’s quiet for a moment between you and Rex, but you don’t mind and neither does he. You almost chuckle at the thought that it’s probably a nice change from all of Skywalker and Ahsoka’s banter.
“Does everyone have blankets and food?” you ask after a while, needing to know if everyone is taken care of before you try to rest as Kix instructed.
“Yes.”
“And watch duty, is it—?”
“It’s taken care of, sir.”
The words are familiar.
“It’s Tara,” you say, and wish then and there that each trooper in the 501st was allowed the option of calling you by your given name instead of a rank or title. They had gone through enough for you as it was.
Rex looks up at you.
Despite knowing the last time you had insisted upon your men calling you by name, it had turned into the last word you ever heard from them, you reiterate softly, “It’s Tara.”
“Okay,” he nods, something resolute crossing his features. It eases something within you, but it’s still too quiet in your mind. Too cold.
You finally rest your head against the pillow, staring up at the vaulted ceilings and trying to recall Rais’ words of comfort he had offered so long ago.
You close your eyes. A tear rolls down your cheek and you don’t bother wiping it away. The ice caves fill your thoughts, the darkness crushing as sleep pulls at you.
Rex breaks the silence before you can drift off.
“Did Rais ever tell you about the time he and I almost drowned Cody?”
You glance down at him to see a genuine smile teasing the corners of his lips. Rais?
“No.” You make no effort to hide your shock, and despite everything, you smile at the bizarre thought. Another tear slips from your eye, but this time, you wipe it away. He laughs at the memory. “Tell me?”
You sit in relative silence as he tells the story, occasionally chuckling as his imagery makes you think of late night conversations with Rais, then Fuses’s clumsiness, then Lucky’s big grin.
When Rex finally gets up to go join his brothers for the night, you breathe without pain for the first time in hours.
They would all settle in soon and be safe, at least for one night. You had gotten them this far, and something tells you Anakin would be proud. The darkness seems to dissipate long enough for you to think of painting helmets in the barracks and beating Master Koth in a spar and warm summer days at the Jedi Temple.
For a moment, as you drift off, you allow yourself to admit it’s the warmest you’ve felt since landing on this planet.

Thanks @princelukeorgana for asking about the lore behind my OC’s lightsabers! There’s a lot of lore behind Tara’s saber specifically😂, so I’m making this a separate post just for hers and will do the others soon! I hope you all like this little insight into the design.💕
Physical Design: Tara’s lightsaber hilt is made of quadanium steel and gold inlays. Quadanium was most often used in the construction of ships and battle stations (including the Death Star) and is a very rare material to build one’s lightsaber out of. Because of this, Tara’s saber is slightly heavier than most. It is also obsidian black.
Symbolism: In fanfiction, her hilt is described as heavy, sure, and serving as an anchor to Tara in every sense of the word. She comes to rely on its consistent presence in her life and even keeps it after Order 66 as a means to ground herself when things grow dark. Symbolically to me at least, her lightsaber also represents the weight of her trials, the grief of losing her men, and eventually, the unwavering and steady individual she becomes.
It’s refined and elegant like Tara is in many ways, and the gold details definitely pay homage to an older age of Jedi Knights—one where they served more as guardians of peace and justice rather than soldiers.

Bonus: A few (super nerdy) things I included in my fanfictions as I wrote about her saber that you might not have noticed at first glance⬇️⬇️
In the oneshot I wrote called “A Moment to Breathe”, Tara is spending time alone with Rais in his quarters and actually discards her lightsaber on the small dresser with the rest of her belongings. This is the only time I ever show her willingly put it away like that. It was meant to symbolize the amount of trust she has in Rais and how comfortable she feels around him.
When Rais and the rest of Tara’s men are killed on Mygeeto in “Silence”, the end of the fic closes with her relying on the presence of her saber. "You touched the hilt of your lightsaber again. Sure, heavy. Grounding you when everything else seemed to sway."
And throughout the Trouble on Jegzo series, she constantly touches her lightsaber when she’s uncertain or is reminded of her battalion’s deaths. (“You take a sharp breath and pull on your hood, touching your lightsaber hilt instinctively as you step out into the storm”, or “You take a deep breath and slowly draw your lightsaber from your belt. Its obsidian black surface is smooth and thrums beneath your fingers. Familiar, steady,” for example.)

Note
Hi!! First off I love your art! I was wondering if you could tell us about your WIPs? Every time I see something you’re working on I get really excited 😄 Alsoooo I love your fanfictions a lot
Awww anon you’re making me blush🥺🥺💕 thank you!!
I wasn’t sure if you meant art wips or fanfic wips, so I did both!
ART
1. Tara in armor: this one is super dramatic. Blue lightsaber against black background aesthetic and just Tara holding her saber up to her face. Really dramatic lighting, which has been fun & challenging! It’s meant to be at the very start of the Clone Wars when Tara is put in charge of the 500th, so she’s wearing shoulder plates & bracers!
2. Sketch dumps: So. Many. Sketches. I really hate sketching digitally so I’m trying my best to get better at it! That means my OCs are being drawn a lot. I’m almost finished with pages of Sarai and Kyvá!!
3. Fantasy artwork: I haven’t talked too much about my book on here, but I’m writing a fantasy series that I’m super excited about. I’m almost finished with a poster-style artwork of all my main characters, so that’s exciting!!! It’s taken a lot of time and I can’t wait to post it.
4. Sarai comic: This has been a long time coming and still has a ways to go, but I am having so much fun working on it. It’s 5 (huge) parts and follows Tara, Ohmal, and Sarai to an outer-rim planet where they have their first run-in with the Inquisitors. I don’t want to spoil too much, but I’m really hoping it turns out to be emotional, heart-wrenching, and epic. I should be posting previews soon.👀
In addition to these artworks, I’ve got a huge list of people’s OCs that I want to draw!! Most of them have already given me permission to draw them, I just need to get around to doing it! I’ve also got 2 more commissions left and I’m sooo excited to finish those.
FANFICTION
For this I thought it would be fun to include some short exerpts from the fanfictions I’m working on! I hope you enjoy!❤️
1. Trouble on Jegzo: Chapter 6
You awake out of your nightmare with no scream, no cry.
You had run out of those long ago when the nights had been longer and your injured soul was still in shambles at the feet of the Jedi Council.
Instead, you slowly open your eyes, swallowing hard to quell your rapid pulse and running your tongue along the back of your teeth until feeling has returned to your cold body.
It’s quiet in the village hall, but your ears pick up every shift of armor, every soft snore that comes from the men around you.
Another breath. Another exhale.
2. Din Djarin x reader oneshot:
He was beautiful. The rain left his curls damp and slicked across his forehead, water dripped from his strong nose, and his lips were curved in a shy smile.
"Hi," you breathed. He laughed, and you swayed on your feet at the unmodulated sound and the breadth of his smile.
"Hello," he said, eyes softening under your awestruck gaze. He glaced at your hood for the briefest moment before he let go of your hands to reach up and slowly pull it back. His thumbs brushed your ears as he did so, and for a moment, you both just stared into each other's eyes as the rain fell around you.
"You... are so beautiful," he said quietly, hand cupping your cheek in the softest touch you had ever experienced. The warmth of his touch spread throughout your whole body. Your whole soul.
There was no hiding the blush that crept onto your cheeks, and like the lovestruck fool you were, you just swallowed and replied, "so are you, Din."
He leaned in, nose brushing yours before his lips slanted against yours.
He tasted like rain.

SILENCE
Tumblr media
Summary: Tara Ohvala had spent years building herself into a force to be reckoned with. Someone strong, disciplined, fiercely loyal to the men under her command. She was supposed to be unbreakable, but a trap set by Count Dooku makes her question everything she’s become.
A/N: This takes place 7 months before Trouble on Jegzo. I wasn’t planning on writing this for a few more weeks (because wow, the feels), but this is just something so crucial to Tara’s story so here we are.
Warnings: Character deaths, grief, pain. Nothing graphic or gory. Just... this one’s gonna hurt.😭 Sorry.

Oneshot below cut:
You had sent them in there. You had deemed it safe.
Tears, hot and blinding, streaked down your cheeks as you ran faster than you’d ever run before. Not fast enough.
“Commander, report!” you shouted into your wrist comm, bolting towards the caverns your men had entered only minutes ago. The caverns you had authorized them to enter and the ones which were now swarming with Count Dooku’s forces.
The desperation was practically dripping from your voice, but you didn’t care.
“Rais! I said report!”
There was nothing but the blood pounding in your ears and the heavy breathing of the two men behind you, trying to keep up.
A choked sound tumbled from your lips, turning into something more like a battle cry as blaster bolts whizzed past you and the next line of droids came around the bend.
You cut through the first wave with something dangerously close to anger coursing through your veins, slicing through metal and spinning to avoid a droideka. With a grunt, you thrust your hand out and rolled it off the cliff to your left.
It hadn’t even reached the bottom of the gorge before you were sprinting towards the caverns again.
Not my men. Please not my men.
Fear, real and raw clawed at your insides, twisting your stomach and forcing all the air from your lungs. But you didn’t pay it any heed. There was no time.
The two men behind you were out of sight, but they would be fine. You hadn’t left any droids standing. Your fingers curled tighter around the hilt of your lightsaber and you ran.
It had been a trap. Dooku had lured almost your entire battalion into those caves and you had played right into his hands. You had to get there before—
A blaster bolt grazed your arm, but you cut down the battle droid with a yell that drowned out its wail and the red-hot metal slid to the ground, hissing as it came in contact with the frost around your feet.
“Lucky! Soot!” you tried a new comm channel, hurtling over a fallen tree and dodging wiry branches as the path took you into a cluster of trees.
Your heart nearly leapt out of your chest when a gasp sounded on your comm.
“General? General, they’ve sealed the entrance to the caves. There are—“ A pause, during which your stomach flipped. “Too many rocks!”
You clipped your saber to your belt as the smallest hope, small and warm, washed over you. It was your captain.
“Lucky! I’m coming! I’m on my way!”
The sound of blaster fire on the other end sent chills up your spine but you pushed on, lungs bursting and body aching.
“Tara, get out of here! We’re not making it out!”
Your mind reeled at that name. He hadn’t used it outside the circle of you and his brothers before. Why would he—?
The hope in you wavered, but you refused to let it go.
Tears stung your eyes again. Would you ever get to tell stories in the barracks with them again? Would you have the chance to lean your head on Fuse’s shoulder and gently squeeze Rais’ hand as he gave you that look you’d grown to rely on?
Breathe.
You would. You would.
Determination, clear and strong, filled your every vein and your head cleared a bit. Somehow, despite having run for well over your limit now, the Force guided you on towards their location.
“I’m not leaving you, Lucky. I’ll be to your location in five minutes. I can lift the rocks and clear an entrance for you,” you panted, bursting out of the trees and into another clearing. A cold wind whipped your face. “You’ll have to move fas—“
“It’s too late! They’re breaking through! They’re—“
Static jarred you to a halt and your lungs screamed for air just as the rest of you cried out.
“No!”
You punched in the comm code again, waiting, pleading. Your lips trembled and you stumbled forward again despite the silence, legs protesting and blood roaring in your ears.
Was this why attachment was forbidden? Had you been wrong all along to allow yourself comfort in the friendship of your men?
You jogged around fallen droids, sparing a glance at a trooper whose head was lolled to the side against a rock. No Force signature. You swallowed.
You were getting close.
“Tara?”
A sob escaped you then. To the Corellian hells with regulation. You thought you’d never hear his voice again.
“Rais! Rais, listen to me. Are you listening? You need to hold them off until I get there, I’m— I think I’m here!”
You skid to a halt, blinking through the tears and staring up at the massive wall of rocks in front of you. Dooku’s forces had done more than block the entrance. They had taken down the whole side of the mountain.
Faintly, buried through all the rubble and dust, you heard the sound of blaster fire. They must’ve been deep into the tunnels.
“Tara.” His voice came through again, muffled but firm. “I need you to know.”
Tears clogged your throat and another sob ripped itself from somewhere deep inside you, but you shook your head, breathing in and out. All your years of training couldn’t fail you now.
Hurry, you reminded yourself.
You rubbed the tears from your eyes and lifted your hands to move the rocks.
Exerting this much energy after battle caused you to sway, but it didn’t matter. Rais, Lucky, Fuse— your battalion—
“I need you to know that it’s okay to be angry.” You furrowed your brow as rock after rock rose and fell, ignoring every ounce of logic telling you it was futile.
Rais’ voice broke the same time your heart did. “It’s okay to be upset and sad,” You tossed another boulder aside, “and afraid.”
Your hands were shaking as some of the rocks loosened and tumbled down. You leapt back out of the way, holding your comm to your ear and coughing on the dust.
“I’m afraid,” he admitted barely above a whisper. Blaster fire sounded on his end and men screamed. “But it will be okay, Tara.”
“Commander, they’re breaking through!” It was Vet.
“Rais?!” You sobbed, stumbling forward and pressing your palms to one of the boulders. You fell to your knees then, leaning your forehead against it and shaking.
“I know... I know you’ll turn outwards, you always do,” Rais said, gasping as something must’ve struck him. “But I need you to look at yourself too sometimes. Can-can you do that?”
“Yes,” your voice broke and you vaguely registered the approaching men behind you. They were out of breath and you couldn’t bring yourself to admit that they were about to hear their brother’s final words.
“Good. You have me, Tara. You’ll always have me. Have us.”
The world stopped around you. A solitary tear slipped down your cheek.
“I’m here, Rais,” you whispered, remembering his wish all those months ago... that you’d be there in the end.
You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything else. You squeezed your eyes shut and reached out in the Force only to feel the life forces you had grown to love drift away from you.
“Tara—“
The line was finally cut off and the world grew silent.
A soft breeze whipped a dark lock across your face.
For a moment, all you could do was breathe.
Your shoulders shook. You lifted the cuff of your white sleeve to your mouth and bit down hard, trying to keep the sobs at bay as the two troopers slowly approach you.
They didn’t say anything as static continued to occupy every comm channel. Static that could only mean one thing.
Your fingers curled into the course dirt beneath you, nails trailing across the small rocks that had played a part in keeping you from reaching the 500th.
“General.” Swimmer swallowed, but you couldn’t bring yourself to move.
“General Ohvala.” Tank tried this time. His voice was laden with emotion and you finally turned to see them.
Their helmets were off, amber eyes wide and cheeks flushed as they stared at the rocks scattered around before their gazes finally came to rest on you.
“I couldn’t... I couldn’t lift it all in time—“ You kept your voice as steady as possible, clawing for the strength you’d once had so readily available for them.
Neither of them moved.
“They’re all... they’re all gone?” Swimmer whispered.
You nodded, fearing for a moment that the emotion flashing across his eyes was anger. But the Force told you otherwise.
He loosed a shaky breath and crossed the distance between you in all of three steps, taking you into his arms before you could protest.
You squeezed him back so tightly the blaster injury in your arm screamed in pain, but you ignored it. Swimmer’s tears wet your temple as Tank knelt and hesitantly wrapped his arms around both of you.
They knew. They all knew what Rais was to you—what you were to him. What all of them were to you.
“I’m so sorry,” you breathed.
“It wasn’t your fault,” Tank said softly, holding you tighter. After a pause, he added, “We need to get out of here, General.”
“General Ohvala!” A voice came through the comm. You glanced down at the beeping green light and rolled back onto your heels, swiping at your eyes again.
“Ma’am, we’re at the landing zone! Awaiting your arrival!”
You pulled away from your men and took a deep breath, touching the hilt of your lightsaber gently as you turn towards the rock face once again.
“We’re on our way, trooper.” Taking a shaky breath, you continued, “Rais and the others are gone. I... I don’t know how many are left, but we’ll be there soon. Please inform Master Plo. He should be at the rendezvous.”
Silence for a moment as he registered what you had said. “Yes, ma’am.”
You touched the hilt of your lightsaber again.
Sure, heavy.
Grounding you when everything else seemed to sway.
You reached out in the Force one last time, searching for some sign of life, some sense of the bond you had always shared with your Commander, your men, anyone.
But the Force was silent.

Trouble on Jegzo: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Author’s Note:
Alright, my friends. This is my first fanfic, so I’m really excited about this.☺️ We’ll see where it goes. Hopefully you all like it! Long story short, rewatching the Clone Wars has helped me through a lot lately, so I hope I can do these characters justice. There can never be too many fics with our beloved captain and the 501st!

Chapter 1/10: Landing on Jegzo
You begin preparations for your search and rescue mission on the ice planet of Jegzo with Skywalker’s 501st, only to be confronted by the memories of watching your last battalion fall.
“Just make sure to keep an eye on our boys out there, Tara,” Master Skywalker smirks, crossing his arms. “They tend to get into trouble.”
You incline your head and smile as Ahsoka puts a hand on her hip and their blue hologram fluctuates briefly.
“Well, master, you’re usually the one to get them into that trouble. I think they’ll be fine.”
Anakin shoots her an incredulous look and scoffs before turning back to you. You almost miss the muffled, “quiet, Snips,” and smile again at these two’s odd relationship. You can sense the fondness Skywalker holds for his padawan even though they’re lightyears away. The same fondness you had once felt towards your master.
“This mission is different. You’re heading dangerously close to Separatist space, and the Chancellor’s worried about Senator Chuchi not checking in. You’ll have to be careful.”
“Not to worry, Master Skywalker. The Council has advised me to be as quick as possible on this mission. We’ll be in and out.” Your chest tightens just a bit, but you manage to keep your voice as steady as always as you think about the maps of Jegzo you’ve spent hours poring over.
Tundras, planet-wide blizzards, the screams... It will be difficult to locate the Pantoran senator...even more difficult to ignore the memories of the last time you were on a planet like this one.
“Just watch out for them. They’re good troopers,” Anakin says quietly, his tone serious again.
“It will be done, Master.” You bow and your dark braid slides over your shoulder.
“Senator Chuchi is a friend. I hope you wreak havoc on Jegzo getting her back,” Ahsoka grins. “We’ll all be back on Coruscant before you know it, Master Tara. Wish us luck.”
The padawan taps her temple with two fingers and salutes you as you’ve seen Anakin do throughout the years. “Oh! And tell Fives I’ll be waiting for his headcount. Those clankers don’t stand a chance.”
“Good luck, Ahsoka,” you chuckle lightly, even though you’re not sure you believe in such a thing, “and may the Force be with you.”
There’s no stopping the brief flutter in your stomach as the hologram disappears and you’re left alone in the conference room. The quiet hum of hyperspace outside the Venator fills your being and your tattooed fingers curl around the rim of the holotable for a moment.
It’s been a while since you’ve lead a battalion of clones like this. It had taken weeks--months--after recovering from your last mission for you to hear their voices and not have something inside you crack.
The cries of your men still echo in your mind at night, Rais’ pleading for you to leave him... but it’s passing now--something Master Yoda has helped you overcome and something time will continue to heal.
There’s a senator to locate now.
Still, the sound of the door sliding open and the unique force energy of the clone officer who enters makes you jump slightly.
He stands at attention. “General, fifteen minutes to Jegzo. Gunships are ready and waiting, sir.”
“Very good, officer. Conduct a planetary bio-scan the moment we enter the planet’s orbit. I want to have the results by the time we reach the surface.”
“Yes, General.” He nods curtly and you follow him out to the bridge, where clones move and work in their stations, preparing for the drop from hyperspace.
Your presence on the bridge has a few glancing your way, including Admiral Yularen, who stands rigidly with his hands folded behind his back.
“Keep an eye out for Separatist movement while we’re on the planet, Admiral. We don’t need a full-fledged attack to commence before we’ve even located Senator Chuchi.”
“Understood, General Ohvala. I'll be ready should the Separatists get any ideas.” He raises his eyebrows and tips his head back before adding, “Skywalker’s troops are effective... when they’re not throwing themselves into danger.”
“So I’ve heard,” you reply, wondering briefly how he and Master Skywalker had managed to work together with such contrasting personalities.
By the time you change into your gray parka and thicker Jedi robes, it’s time to go. You feel the gentle pull of the ship as you approach the hangar bay, meaning you’ve dropped out of hyperspace. You pull on a pair of gloves after securing your braid in a tight bun.
As promised, the three gunships you had requested have been prepped and are ready for take-off as you approach. Captain Rex of the 501st is waiting for you, helmet tucked neatly under his arm and blonde hair standing out just as you remember.
For some reason, Ahsoka’s story of pushing him off the wall on Geonosis comes to mind, and you smile warmly in greeting.
“General!” Rex salutes quickly, falling into stride beside you as the main hangar doors begin to open above. You wonder if he remembers the brief exchange you had shared with him and his company on Coruscant over a year ago. You were a padawan then, barely having earned your last tattoos.
“Are you ready for the mission, Captain?” you question, stepping onto the gunship and taking your place among the bustling group of men. Clearly, some of them haven’t worn their subzero gear in a while. “I’m surprised you’re all in one piece after hearing of some of the antics Skywalker’s pulled over the last few months.”
That gets a few chuckles from the men and they all seem to turn towards you a bit to listen.
“Always, sir. General Skywalker’s informed us you’ve got quite the reputation among the Seppies, taking on Gunray and all.”
“A reputation? That’s news to my ears,” you joke lightly, playing off the Force energy you feel on the ship. The gunship doors slide closed and you reach up for a handle as it lifts off. “Let’s just hope we don’t run into any of those while we’re down there.”
Rex looks at you for a moment, something sad in his amber eyes, and you don’t miss the brief glace he exchanges with the trooper to your right. As he pulls on his helmet and adjusts his thermal gear, you turn expectantly towards the other trooper.
The symbol of the Galactic Republic is tattooed across his face and his head is shaved.
Jesse, you feel the name come to your memory. But not wanting to let on that you stayed up studying their files, you simply ask, “Trooper?”
“CT-5597. Jesse, ma’am. Your men were some of the best to come out of Kamino. We’re sorry to hear about what happened, General.”
You blink in surprise, comforted to a small degree by how firm the man’s condolences are. The Force shifts around you, and you manage a small smile in thanks. Rex looks down at his feet for a moment before gripping the overhanging handle above him a little tighter.
Perhaps he had been friends with Rais or Fuse or any of my 500th, you think fondly. Perhaps they all had.
It’s a quick ride down to the drop zone. Immediately upon entering the planet’s atmosphere, the gunships depressurize and cold wind slips through to you.
“We always get the fun planets, boys,” another clone behind you calls. He has his helmet between his arm and hip and you notice the number five tattooed on his temple.
“Fives, isn’t it?”
He looks at you, surprised, and an embarrassed flush reaches his ears. You gesture towards his tattoo.
“Yes, General.”
“The Commander wanted me to tell you to have a headcount by the end of this.”
A sly smile flashes across his face and he slips on his helmet as the doors slide open and the men push out into the light snowfall.
“I’ll make sure I do.” He raises his blaster as if to prove the point.
You take a sharp breath and pull on your hood, touching your lightsaber hilt instinctively as you also step out into the storm.
“Any news, Admiral?” you say close to your comm.
“Bio-scan complete, General Ohvala. Readings seem normal. No large signatures outside the charted civilizations. Occasional fluctuations about three miles south of your location in what seems to be a small range of mountains.”
“Copy that.”
“Be advised that there’s a storm moving in from the north. It will hit your present location at 0600.”
“Noted, Admiral,” you call loud enough that Rex can hear over the wind. You motion him over and he leans in to listen. “We’ll head towards those mountains. If we don’t have the senator by then, we’ll try to find cover and have the gunships move out so they don’t get caught in the storm. Ohvala out.”
Rex nods in acknowledgment and relays the coordinates on his comm. The cold bites at your cheeks and whips your dark robes around your ankles as you walk towards the troopers. It’s too hard to make out the markings on their gear, so you rely on their force signatures to tell them apart.
They gather around you to receive further instruction and suddenly, three years being a Jedi Knight doesn’t feel like much time at all.
“Rex, Fives, Jesse, Echo, you’ll come with me to those mountains. I want a squadron to head east towards the village and report any findings or sign of Senator Chuchi. The rest of you will stay with the gunships and wait for my comm. Stay alert and make sure to check in. Remember, we’re on the edge of Separatist space. Anything could happen.”
The men glance at each other and you realize you had called them by their names. Well, it’s obvious now that you had studied their holoimages. Being a Jedi meant being thorough, Master Koth had always said.
You clench your teeth and feel your skin flush a slightly darker shade of green.
“You heard her, men. Echo, Fives, Jesse, you’re with me--”
The rest of Rex’s words are drowned out by the ringing in your ears and the strange and sudden pull in the Force. You gaze into the stormy horizon, eyes narrowing as you try to see through the expanse of pure white tundra ahead. Life forms? A warning? You close your eyes in an attempt to clear your mind and determine what it is, but it goes quiet again.
“General, there are too many of them! We’re surrounded--gahh!”
“Rais, state your location! Your location!”
“We need a medic, Swarm is down! I can’t see anything! Kriff, Tara, we’re not going to make it! I can’t see anything!”
You open your eyes when you feel someone approaching. It’s Captain Rex, but you can barely make out what he’s saying.
“Captain?”
“I said, what’s Senator Chuchi doing all the way out here? This is a long way from Pantora.”
“Republic business. This planet is neutral in the war. She was hoping to change that.”
A brief pause, and then,
“Are you alright, General Ohvala?”
“Just fine. Let’s get moving before that storm comes in.”

Here they are!😄 My Mirialan Jedi General and Commander Rais from my fanfic, Trouble on Jegzo. I may or not be considering doing art trades/free commissions to help me practice. ;) Anyone have any favorite Star Wars OCs?

A few of you have been asking about this so I thought a quick post might help!✨
Chronologically, @royalhandmaidens’ beautiful Art of War mini-series takes place BEFORE my Trouble on Jegzo fic.☺️ “Art of War” follows Tara’s experiences with Commander Rais and her battalion, while “Trouble on Jegzo” takes place months after *that* (sobs) when Tara is temporarily leading the 501st on a mission.
