How they’d cuddle you 😻😻😻😘
Beanie trio + oxey duo
Tumblr media
•George
Literally cradle you, wrapping his arms and legs around you like one of those hair claws practically trapping you in his grasp with his head tucked in your neck. If you try to get up he’d mumble into your neck/shoulder “mmmmmnoooooo stayyyyyy” and if you managed to escape he’d kiss your cheek and try to get you to come back to his comfort. “Mmmmmmmmm—love come back” he’d pull you back and cuddle you.
• Sapnap
He’d lay his head in your chest with his torso on your thighs and his hands cuddling your waist. If you tried to pull away he’d squeeze you to him groaning into your chest “nononononono—stay please” he’d low key just trap you by switching the position between you two where your head is in his chest and your torso is on his thighs. Eventually he’d let you go but he’d follow you around everywhere.
• Quackity 😻
His knees bent up between your stomach his head above yours and your head in his chest and your knees cradled up next to his, his arms around the small of your back and your hands closing the gap between you two by holding onto his chest. If you tried to get up he’d just slowly pull away from you looking back up at you “no more? :(“ you’d nod and he’d get up with you, following you around by your hand leading him around like a lost puppy.
• Wilbur
His lanky arms gently laying on top of you while your in fetal position with his head laying gently in the crook of your neck he’d smile into your neck whenever you made the slightest movement. Lowkey would probably lay his head in your thighs and fall asleep while you massage his hair but if you tried to get up from any position he’d groan “mnoooo come back— my love.” He’d put his hands on each side of your face and press a kiss to your forehead letting you leave and do whatever
•Charlie
He’d let you rest your head on his chest while his arm is wrapped around your shoulder with your hand resting on his stomach. If you’d troed to get up he’d lean down to kiss your forehead “why are you leaving? D:” he’d change position to where you were wrapped in both his arms and your head is tucked in his neck. If he let you get up he’d give you one last kiss before falling back to sleep.

*enables you* what happened with TLJ 👃
Tumblr media
After all these years I still can't properly find words to explain how deeply betrayed I felt after the credits rolled and I shuffled out of the movie theater with everybody else. There was a TON of hype surrounding this movie, an absolute fuckton. I only saw positive reviews about it, the cast, the director, the plot. I got excited to see where Rian Johnson & Co. would take the ST.
The only remotely negative comment I saw before watching the movie was a fandom blog saying they didn't like what happened to Poe. Since this blog was about racism in fandom, I knew something was off. That was my only warning.
And y'know, it was like, five minutes in? Ten minutes? And Poe makes a "Yo mama" joke at Hux? I used to go into movies with an open mind and spent days gathering my thoughts about them because I was always slow to react, slow to gather my thoughts into coherent strings of words. It's how I enjoyed Michael Bay productions and JJ Abrams' love affair with lens flare. I never got actively angry with a movie I was watching, and I was fucking angry by the time the movie ended. I still remember texting a friend while standing out in front of the theater because I was so confused. The response to TLJ was so positive so why did I come out of the movie so frustrated and confused and dissatisfied with the whole thing?
It's been years and we all know how this movie divided the Star Wars fandom and just... broke Fandom Spaces in a way I never expected. We all know what TLJ did and didn't do, and how TROS provided the final nail in the coffin that was the ST experiment. But back then, all I saw was positive commentary about the themes and messages of TLJ, how it portrayed failure and the dangers of putting someone like Luke Skywalker on a pedestal, how the Force was female, how... important it was to see Poe get characterized as a hotheaded hotshot who needed to be demoted, slapped around, and stunned in order to learn some kind of lesson, how important it was to see Finn lose everything he gained in TFA so that he could relearn how not to be selfish or something while starring in a fucking incredibly tone-deaf B plot, how Rey... I'm not sure exactly what because she didn't need training anyway and then spent most of her time trying to bring Ben Swolo back to the light????? Rose was so promising as someone who grew up under the FO's thumb but she and Kelly were fucking abandoned by Disney so I don't know if Rose existing was actually a good idea if it meant giving Kelly unending trauma. Mark slipped up by calling Luke "Jake" and expressing his displeasure in front of cameras, and I was so fucking baffled and alienated by his character after knowing how his story ended in ROTJ that I couldn't connect with whatever lessons I and he are supposed to be learning. JJ set up Snoke like a mystery box and Rian just yeeted him off without so much as a fucking explanation so what was the point of that? Hux was a fucking joke. Phasma was barely there. The only character that Rian cared about was fucking Kylo Ren and Adam says years later that he was never supposed to get a redemption arc anyway.
Like, this was the movie everyone hyped up? This was the movie that didn't answer any questions left unasked by TFA and didn't bother to move forward with character development for any of the known characters? I spent money watching a slow space chase that ended on a planet made of salt and killed off Luke for Reasons? Am I stupid? Am I dumb? Am I a peasant incapable of understanding the masterpiece Rian directed, this so-called Best Star Wars Movie Since ESB?
But I couldn't say anything. I couldn't be dogpiled for hating such a empowering movie for women, a diverse and inclusive movie that had the likes of John and Kelly and Oscar. I couldn't be lumped in with the Star Wars dudebros with their raging misogynistic and racist takes on the movie, the cast, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm, Disney, etc. I couldn't be seen as one of them just because I didn't like a movie that I should like, I'm supposed to like. So I sat in silence, read meta, witnessed the fucking catastrophic explosion around some wild ass AO3 fandom essays written by a racist OG member of OTW about Finn/Poe, saw hate piled on black and bipoc fans, saw r*ylo fans come for John and John clap back at them, just saw an absolute fuckton of hate, and so by the time TROS came around I just... checked out. There was no way JJ could salvage what Rian had done and I was right. TROS was a corporate-run soulless garbage end to the Sequel Trilogy, but it ended just as The Mandalorian finished its first season and regained a lot of good will with this small story about a lonely Mandalorian bounty hunter who encountered a Force-sensitive Baby Yoda.
And then TBOBF/Season 3 of the Mando Show happened, just like how TLJ happened. All the promise, all the unanswered questions of the previous movie/season, all fucking dropped or provided with the worst, most unsatisfying answer. I'm sure others have found better answers and can live with what Star Wars gave us, but I haven't been able to. TLJ came out years and years ago, and I am still so bitter today. I'm still so bitter because TFA had such an incredibly compelling setup with such promising characters, and then TLJ Did That.
I got so heated while writing this. I'm still so mad. I'm still so bitter. I bury my head so deep in the sandbox I built for myself so that I don't have to think how Disney is twisting and contorting all these Mando'verse shows so that they all eventually lead to the ST, their precious hot potato child that just... didn't have to end the way they did if they actually had a fucking plan and fucking stuck the landing. I'll give the MCU this - their Phase 1? They fucking stuck the landing. I fell off the train tracks and haven't really watched the MCU since Captain Marvel, but at least they had a fucking plan and didn't fucking derail themselves like Disney did with the Sequel Trilogy.
I could be nice to people who like this movie but I'm not going to be. They can be nice on their own blogs.
Man, I can't even watch Knives Out or Glass Onion because my blood starts boiling. Just. TLJ did a lot to ruin what I hoped would be a positive and creative connection with Star Wars, and it took the Mando Show and the 2 minutes where Din and Luke locked eyes on the Imperial light cruiser to bring me back.
I'm gonna stop before I get way too heated for sleep.

Hi Lumi! I’m the anon who asked about your thoughts on the sequel trilogy. Thanks for your answer! It made me kind of want to rewatch TROS with this new lens because I do get what you said about the bones of the movie being good. Another thing your post got me thinking about was the concept of “The Chosen One” because I know a lot of people were frustrated that the sequel trilogy seemed to throw Anakin’s last act of bringing balance to the Force out the window. And I got to thinking that nowhere in the originals or prequels does it state that once Anakin brings balance, there will always be balance. Unfortunately, evil rises again. Anakin brought balance and it’s not his fault things became unbalanced again. That doesn’t diminish the moment and impact of his sacrifice. And with Anakin dead and Luke not in a place to answer the Force’s call, the Force needed to find a new Chosen One. And years after the sequel trilogy takes place, there will probably be a new threat that needs a new hero to be called. I kind of like the idea of there being a sort of community of Chosen Ones rather than one person carrying all of that. Anyway, I’ve written a mini essay in your inbox so I’ll sign off now. Thank you for all you do!
Hi again! To be fair, I can't make the movie more polished than it is, it's always going to feel like so much wasted potential, but I do genuinely like the bones of what's there and will always defend that. As for the "Chosen One" thing, that's exactly my view of things, too! Rey being a Chosen One doesn't take away from Anakin being a Chosen One, because, like, what is balance of the Force? It's when there's stability and light in the galaxy. It doesn't mean that the actions of one single Jedi fix all the problems, it means they take the Sith Lord out and the galaxy has to help heal things. Anakin killing Palpatine doesn't mean the Empire suddenly implodes, it means that without the Emperor there, the Rebellion can get to work on establishing the New Republic, it means everyday people can start cleaning up the mess of the Empire. Anakin is the Chosen One meant to destroy the Sith and balance can be restored through that. But what happens when the galaxy gets lazy and the New Republic isn't proactive enough? What happens when people decide to rest on Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa's laurels? Evil rises again. And looking around the world today, that's an incredibly salient message, especially when this movie came out. "Oh, we beat the Nazis in the previous generation, we don't have to pay attention to that anymore!" Yeah, we fucking do. And Luke's not there to be called on to defeat the rise of the First Order, he's cut himself off from the Force. So, the Force chooses a new Chosen One, Rey, and puts her in the position this time, she destroys the Sith, but the galaxy still has to rise up and help her on the bigger stuff. One Jedi cannot defeat the entire oppressive regime, but everyone in the galaxy standing up to fight back against the First Order? That is what balance should be. Rey removes the Sith Lord, so that the rest of the galaxy can help each other again. Because I don't think one Sith Lord can be the sum total of what determines balance. The Force lives in everything, every living thing has the Force moving through it, every living thing contributes to the Force. If the quintillions of people in the galaxy are suffering, if they're angry at the state of what's happening, if they're hurting, then how can that not affect the Force? One Jedi can't fix all that, but if Rey gets rid of the Sith Lord and the rest of the galaxy says, yes, we are going to help this time, we're determined, we're going to hold on to hope, we're going to fight to help others, which they can do because the worst part of the catalyzing of those feelings is gone? Then I really love that as a message. Rey being a Chosen One doesn't take anything away from Anakin being the Chosen One of his time, because they're not the sole determiners of the Force. Everyone has to do their part, no matter how big or small, that fits the theme of "balance" so much better imo.

Showing young Ben as thinking "maybe the Empire was right" is just such a fundamental misunderstanding of his storyline and what happened to him. He had the literal star wars personification of evil inside his head from a young age (originally shown in the comics, confirmed on screen in tRoS), telling him that maybe he was evil too, that the people around him knew it. And unintentionally, they play into that, even when they're trying to do their best for him: Leia sends him to train with Luke, hoping her brother who's spent years studying the Force, one of the only people she can trust, will be able to help her son who is struggling with elements she has no experience with, and Palpatine is there to whisper in Ben's mind that this is rejection, they're sending him away because they know he's evil and hate him for it. Luke tries to treat him as equal, and Palpatine is there giving the same explanation of rejection. All this building up to Luke standing over him with his saber, because he's seen the people he loves dying because of this kid, and it's the final confirmation for Ben that everything Palpatine has ever told him is true, that the people who should love him want him dead.
And it's a tragedy, because Leia and Luke (and Han) had no idea what they were fighting against, had no way to understand what was really happening to Ben, and Palpatine has been haunting the Skywalkers since the beginning, taking everything that should've been good in them and twisting it for himself. Ben is an echo of Anakin, where Palpatine was able to speak into the ear of the chosen one and corrupt all his potential because he always has a plan far beyond what the heroes can see. And to heal the wound from Palpatine, Ben should've been able to live free of his influence, but Palpatine succeeded in killing every single one of his family in the end and that's the tragedy we're met with.
But yeah. Positioning Ben as this contrary kid who's taking an edgy political stance to be contrary has nothing to do with his actual character or arc. He never shows any interest in the politics of the First Order throughout the movies or additional material. Maybe you're thinking of Hux.

I saw you listed Rey as a positive female character in your strong female character type post. I personally feel that after Reylo became canonish and Kylo’s behavior was glorified in TLJ and TROS, Rey became a wimpy Bella Swan type packaged in feminist armor. Has your opinion of her changed at all and if so, what are your thoughts?
Hi! If I recall correctly, I wrote that shortly after the first film came out.
The writing did drastically fall off with the second and third movies, and they missed a lot of opportunities to get the most out of her as a character.
And I do 100% agree that studios package poorly-written female characters in feminist armor to try to exempt themselves from criticism and pander to what they think younger audiences want.
The same could be said of other characters in the franchise, like Poe and Finn, who were left incredibly one-dimensional, and even legacy characters who I felt were mischaracterized.
I think something like Star Wars is a property that should only be handled if the filmmaker is actually passionate about it, not solely to make money, and the sequel trilogy definitely ended up being more of a cash grab than a well thought-out character exploration!

Rating : 18+ (Adults Only !)
Pairing : Dr. Harrow x F! Reader
Characters : Dr. Harrow, You (reader)
Warning : Dubcon
Available on Ao3 as well
You were pinned against the corner on your bed, whimpering and whining and Dr. Harrow thrusted two of his digits into your hole repeatedly. Palms opening and closing, struggling to let go from his grip.
“Hold still.” He whispered to your ears seducingly, letting his fingers soaked with your fluid.
“We don’t want this time to go to waste, do we? Just stay still and enjoy the moment. “ He spoke alongside your mewl.
Oh how unethical, how unprofessional. You were in your room, enjoying the night time. You weren’t really fond of hanging out with other patients, so you locked yourself in your nest. It was a lonely time until your doctor came, knocking on the door. You opened it up for him, wondering what happened this time. Was it about the little fight you had last afternoon ? The fact that you scold one of his trusted nurses after she accidentally spilled your water ?
The fact that he was now fingering you was the least you expected.
“Doctor..” You panted
“You want more, don’t you? Don’t be shy.” You flinched as he thrusted deeper, stretching your hole.
“This was a rare moment that I could actually visit you in your room. Don’t worry about people knowing what we have right now, nobody would suspect a thing.” He took a nip on your ear, then breathing on your neck.
You looked at his hands between your thigh, working to make you wet and slick for the hardened dick bulging inside his pants.
A ring ?
“You must be wondering to whom this ring belongs, hm?” He pulled out, showing how soaked his two digits with a piece of silver jewelry clinged on his ring finger.
“It belongs to no one. I’m a single old man ‘till this day.” He chuckled, now rubbing your clit with his thumb gently.
“But do you know that most people tend to avoid anyone with rings in terms of finding someone to love romantically? That is my trick. I don’t want anyone standing on my way to get you. I don’t want someone telling me how much they loved me when all I want is you. I stayed all by myself just for you. Can you believe it, hm?” He bit your neck, licking and sucking it hungrily.
You wanted to tell him to stop, but truly was it what your body wanted ? What if he obliged, and somehow your body only managed to feel worse. You heard that to be left hanging was one of the worst things to feel.
You just mewled with the thrust of his digits, as well his thumb rubbing your swollen red clit.
“You want more. I know it. I can always read you.” Dr. Harrow then pulled his finger away once again, unbuckling his belt and stripped his pants. There you could see his dick, veiny shaft matching his skin color with a pink tip already wet from precum. It was ready to meet the entrance of your cervix inside.
“Doctor, wait- what if they know about it? We could get into tro-”
“shush. I can assure you nobody will know.” He put his left digit on your lips, shutting you.
He unbuttoned your night shirt, your boobs hanging free as he opened the buttons one by one. Nipples already hardened, a beautiful sight for him.
“What a pretty body.” He licked your nip a bit, then positioned himself into your entrance.
There was little to no warning, as he thrust himself into you. You screamed with forced penetration, and Dr. Harrow closed your mouth instantly.
“Don’t be so loud. We don’t need additional attention here.”
He bobbed his dick, sinking his shaft deep inside you. You swore to the gods you tried to restrain yourself from moaning loudly. He groaned with the pleasure he have from fucking you as well the sight your boobs bouncing from the movement.
“So perfect.” He said as he moved, pumping your inner walls.
You were feeling light headed from all the friction, feeling like you were going to pass out any minute. The whole experience made you forget everything else, especially how hard the cock hitting your cervix felt. His thumb slipped past your clit as he pumped harder, making your clit twitch and your pussy throb.
His thrust getting harder and harder, with his final thrust he cum onto your inner thigh. Just as you thought he was done, he inserted his finger back into your slit and pumped you hard, forcing yourself to cum as well.
“Doc, please- that’s enough !” Your breaths were shaky with him forcing his fingers inside you. The friction of his digits as well on your clit, you could only sob.
At last you came, which he stopped to prevent overstimulation. You chest huff and puff, letting him wipe his seed on your thigh. At least he was kind enough to not come inside your canal.
He put his pants on again like nothing happened, kissing your forehead and leaving the room.
“Sleep tight, my sweet heart.”

Is it just me or did this interview pretty much kill the Ben Solo buzz?
Adam basically put the idea out there that Ben Solo was a last minute addition to the story and framed his arc as something that he wasn’t even interested in doing. Now all the media outlets are picking up on his statements and people’s reactions are mostly in favor of the version where Kylo stays evil and Ben Solo was just another one of TROS’ weak story adjustments.
I think this interview couldn’t have been more badly timed. Just as there was so much positivity and engagement on social media and general media towards the character of Ben and how he should have lived (and should come back). Now it seems like Adam himself wasn’t a fan of Bendemption. I’m scared to think this was intentional to bury all the excitement about his possible return. It just feels very anticlimactic.
Thoughts, anyone?

Hi San! Simple question here, but can you tell where people are if they're invisible? Like, can you feel where they walk, or you sense them?
As always, being addressed makes San burst into a flurry of attempts to convey their response to Lucid.
Sunlight on his skin; candy fizzing on his tongue; and a wet dog nose on his arm and the smell of yellow.
In simpler terms: happiness, delight, and curiosity.
It takes him a few more minutes to decipher their answer. He relays, “Uh, kind of? The subtler signs of someone being invisible are hard to notice if they’re not focused on that exact area and looking for them. San just has the benefit of being able to go back and look for clues, y’know?”
Not that it’s impossible to evade their gaze. Hell, it’s one of the key pieces of information given during orientation; blackstone and obsidian block the sight of the perpetual security camera that otherwise sees everything.
Yeah, he’s not terribly surprised there have been more than a few people who couldn’t cope with the idea of that. He’s glad they could help them relocate to less…upsetting homes.
Given that San can still be iffy on respecting boundaries– like not randomly showing Lucid things they really shouldn’t be showing him– he can’t even be upset that pretty much everyone has a secret room or even bunker they can relax in.
Rather, he’s relieved that he doesn’t have to keep the truths of being an admin hidden…but that he can still offer them privacy when they decide they want it.
Though he does feel a bit guilty that because blackstone and obsidian are literally dangerous for him to be around for extended periods of time, Zephyr and Iatros had to build their hidden areas a bit further out.
He does know that the meeting room for the Syndicate had been retrofitted into one such place. And…it’s one that Iatros sometimes uses to have his appointments with Day in.
…Also, another one is in what used to be the wither vault, for some unholy reason.
‘Tros has a weird sense of humor sometimes.
Tumblr media
He makes a confused face at that statement.
Not a lot of people consider him their favorite. Hell, even Aver– for as much as he loves to pester Lucid and drop by to spend time with him– has stated that, sorry, his favorite Dream is actually Lee.
That statement had been followed up with a rambling, “He’s the second poggest kid on the server! N’ I’m not just saying that ‘cause his fuckin’ family n’ dedicated army would murder me otherwise. Or ‘cause he’s apparently gonna get deep in the fuckin’ weeds about poison, n’ frankly with how scary the people around him are I really don’t wanna get on his bad side–”
At which point Lucid had told him that he wasn’t going to be mad that he liked the kid.
Hell– Lee has wormed his way into pretty much everyone’s heart. To…perhaps a concerning degree, given the aforementioned Swords & Shields.
Yeah, if it were for anyone else, he’d be worried. He’d also be worried if it were helmed by anyone other than Aster.
The guy is basically a zealot vis-a-vis his dedication towards the absurdly overpowered kid. From the glimpses he’s gotten or been unwillingly shown, Aster does not fuck around when it comes to Lee.
Which is nice. He’s glad that his probable future co-admin has a dogmatically loyal person at his side.
More importantly, though– at least for the moment– he can smell lemongrass and pine. The tell-tale sign of his server getting indignant at him.
Right, he hasn’t answered or conveyed their response.
Dutifully, he says, “Sorry, got lost in thought. Uh, we’re good? And San likes cats owned by players. They kind of made do when not many people had cats, but now that there’s a ton owned by various people…they’re having the time of their life.”
Tumblr media
His head tilts to the side. The person– Observer, he thinks they’re called?-- just spoke, and yet is talking like they left and came back.
Hmm. Are…the messages not being given immediately?
Definitely something he should bring up with the T3. Nobody is really positive whose authority all this weirdness falls under, but the three of them are definitely the most affected.
He parses the rest of the message and blinks several times.
“...Instincts? That sounds wrong. I’m not a hybrid, and neither is Day…?”
Upon directing his mental attention to San, his world gives him the equivalent of a shrug.
Great. That’s…comforting.
The rest of the message is even less welcome to hear. He really hopes whatever the hell the Observer is talking about, it’s not something that’s going to bother him any time soon.
A sudden knock at the door distracts him from his thoughts. He’s not expecting anyone, but few people bother making appointments with him anyway. If he’s needed, he gets called or they just show up.
He’s more than a little surprised to see Daz at his doorstep. The guy smiles at him, but it’s not as bright as it usually is. “Hey, Lucy,” the head of the Welcome Wagon says.
By now the nickname doesn’t bother him. It’s a sign of friendliness, and given how messed up Daz had been when he first got to Sanctuary…
Well, the fact that Lucid got such a cutesy nickname so quickly is pretty much a miracle.
Since it looks like Daz has a lot he wants to say, he opens the door for him. “Thanks,” the guy says, smile growing just a little. He politely wipes his shoes off and then flops onto one of the overstuffed armchairs.
Daz seems to steel himself and takes a deep breath, and declaring, “I– I want to be trained as an admin. Not instead of Lee, but alongside him.”
That’s…a surprise. Lucid slowly sits down in his usual spot, and Hope immediately climbs into his lap.
“What brought this on?”
Daz is quiet for several long moments, anxiously messing with the many gold earrings crammed into his left ear.
Eventually, he says, “I think…I think that’s– that’s why everything happened to me. The– the stuff that brought me here. I think it was– I think he needed another admin.”
That had been something Lucid had thought might be the case, but he still winces. “I don’t know how rare admins were where you are, but…” “I didn’t even know I was one. I, uh– I also didn’t get out much. I see more people at the average Welcome Wagon picnic than I did in my entire life up until Sanctuary.”
There’s a slight shake of his head, and Daz sits up straighter. “But, I can help. And I want to do it! Even if I might not become a full admin– I still haven’t really wrapped my head around that…I can still help. And I’m good at explaining things! Maybe if I figure stuff out with code and it’s not clicking for Lee, I can help him.”
If this had been before Daz had proven himself over and over again with the Welcome Wagon, Lucid might have hesitated more. But…for all his bubbly, somewhat ditziness, Daz is also full-throatedly dedicated to helping others.
In every action that Lucid has seen him take, Daz has been determined to make the server a better, happier place.
A lot of other people, he might suspect of making some kind of weird power play. But…Daz?
There’s no way in hell that the guy has a malicious bone in his body.
“I mean– it’s not really up to just me. But…I’ll talk to Day about it.” He glances out the window, and stands up again. “It’s getting a little late, though. I don’t want you to get stuck outside at night. Respawns still kinda suck.”
Daz stands up and hugs him tightly. “Thanks, Lucy! I knew I could count on you. Uhm, I can make my case to Day if you want? Since it’s kinda…”
He huffs and awkwardly pats the guy’s back. “Nah, it’s probably better if I do it myself. Nothing’s decided yet, though, so don’t get your hopes up too much.”
There’s a bubbly laugh, and Daz grins at him. “You underestimate my capacity for hope,” he teases, before breaking away. “I’ll go, then. Thanks again! Have a good night– and you too, San!”
Just as quickly as he had showed up, the abnormally upbeat Tommy leaves. In fact, he does so so quickly that Lucid isn’t able to convey the flurry of delight from his server at the prospect of having one of their favorites as another admin.
“I guess things are gonna get even more interesting,” Lucid sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.

hi :) I saw thst you reblogged that what's your main spin poll and I wanted to ask if you wanted to elaborate what yours is I love to hear about it!! <3
🥺 aw thank you!! I always enjoy having a chance to infodump a little bit (btw i love ur icon...daphne what an icon)
I do technically have a handful of spins that I consider my main spins because I'm constantly rotating between them (star wars, doctor who, moon knight and spidey) at any given moment, but my strongest spin is definitely in Poe Dameron from the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy!
I kind of instantly fell in love with him when my dad first took me to see The Force Awakens when it came out, which was a huge surprise for me because Poe was maybe the character I was the least intrigued by at the time (Rey and Finn had me asking far more questions, anyway) and none of the descriptions for him really jumped out to me. But after actually seeing him, I was positively in love, and then quickly downloaded accompanying novels that featured him (Before the Awakening and the TFA novelization) to read more about him, and then in April of 2016, they came out with a comic series for him and that really helped further cement my special interest in him!
It took a huge hit in 2018-most of 2020 because of all the fandom negativity (especially around Poe) but at the end of 2020, I rewatched the sequels back to back for the first time and it flared back to life without me expecting it to and I did a huge deep dive into uuuuuuuuuuuuuh every piece of expanded material he'd appeared in 😅
Basically (I'm not super sure how familiar you are with Star Wars) Poe is one of the best pilots in the Resistance, which is lead by Princess (now General) Leia Organa, and he's her right-hand man/protégé/surrogate son. Barring the Resistance's bombing fleet (which is teeny bc the Resistance is teeny and held together by duct tape) Poe is essentially in charge of its only flight wing and (as far as we know) all* of its squadrons. On top of that, he's also an active intelligence operative, and even helps oversees the reports from the Resistance's spies so like...he's kind of already helping run the Resistance even prior to officially co-running it by the third film with Leia/when he's finally named its official leader.
Poe is super important to me for a lot of reasons, but one of my favorite things about his arc is that it's not centered around romantic love/tension unlike a lot of the other dynamics in the sequel trilogy (altho Oscar did play Poe as being extremely smitten for Finn and who can blame him, and we do meet an ex girlfriend of Poe's in the third movie, I stan a bisexual king). Poe's whole arc is about his duty to the Resistance, his struggles with keeping hope because he's afraid that everything they've (and him) endured and lost will have been for nothing if they lose the fight against the First Order. If there's a love story for Poe's arc, it's his love for the Resistance and his friends, and that's so wonderful and profound in my eyes.
But also the bridge of Poe's arc, from the daring hero we see in tfa and the start of tlj, to the cautious but courageous leader we see at the end of tlj and all of tros, is Poe being forced to accept that his role in this story isn't that of a martyred hero. He's quite literally grounded (his X-Wing is destroyed) and he's pushed into the role of the leader his mentor wants him to be, and TLJ (in my eyes) is the story of someone who full heartedly believed the most he had to offer was a noble self-sacrifice realizing he actually wants to live (and that he can do far more for the Resistance/galaxy by surviving.)
I love Poe a lot because he's also very simple. He's, as Rian Johnson described him, a good guy hero. Unlike other characters, you never doubt whether he's gonna be tempted or corrupted, you know that he's going to do the right thing and remain true to the Light side, you have faith that no matter what obstacle he faces, he's gonna overcome them and come out the other side that much better for it.
The Age of Resistance comic analysis of Poe breaks it down the best, I think:
Poe's inherent humanity is what makes him a great character. He's not someone who struggles with right and wrong or good and evil. Instead, his struggle is more with his tendency to need to be the person who pulls off some last-minute, thrilling heroics in service to the greater good. Because Leia's right: you can't solve everything by jumping in an X-Wing to blow things up.
I could talk for days about Poe (I've spent the last three years doing just that) about the nuances of his character and the depths that largely go unexplored because of Lucasfilm's inexplicable disrespect and dislike of him, the fandom often reducing him to a love interest with no other personality traits, or complete bastardization wherein he resembles Hangman Top Gun more than Poe Dameron (often when people want to oversexualize him).
He has so many qualities that I adore: he's snarky and hot-headed and can throw things (metaphorically) in people's faces when he's particularly upset, he's impulsive, but also kind and compassionate and patient with people. He sees the potential for more/good in folks that most wouldn't. he truly deeply values people, and that's what makes him such an amazing leader: he inspires loyalty because of how much he believes and takes risks in the people around him. He's often the first person to give someone a second chance, or to lower his blaster, but he can also be vindictive. He's confident in his abilities as a pilot to the point he's often mistaken as arrogant, but he never puts anyone down and always lifts people up, and has a lot more insecurities than anyone would guess, and is really sensitive to rejection.
He's also kind of canonically a prince, thanks to the TROS novelization, so you know. I think that's neat and I'm so totally normal about it (when Leia passes away, she leaves her Organa legacy to Poe...the Organa Legacy would be the Royal House Organa - as well as the Resistance. So...Poe is in some ways a prince).
(*which is...three, they only have three squadrons)

Freedom to Last: A Don’t Be Afraid Miniseries - Chapter One
Tumblr media
Chapter One: Interruption
Plot: It’s a perfectly normal day for the Solo-Damerons. Y/n trains her Padawans, gathers her children and comes home, Poe walks through the door after a long day as General. All is as it should be. Monsters always wait for the concealment of night to prey…
Word Count: 4.6k
Warnings: canon-typical violence, death, blood, one sex joke
A/N: WE’RE BACK!!! I’m so excited to jump into this series and it warms my heart that people are still interested in the DBA universe. I hope this story is just as fun to read as the last one. Unlike DBA, this series will cover more mature themes (violence, kidnapping, imprisonment, etc.) so it’s a more mature teen rating. Small changes have bene made, this now takes place three years after the epilogue of DBA, so a total of 6 years since TROS. I had to go back and read some of the old chapter sto makes ure I got my history right. Anyway, enjoy and let me know what you think!
—————————
Peace had come and peace had stayed.
It felt like a over-simplification to say that peace had just come. Peace had been fought for, willingly and unwillingly. Peace was scarred and bloodstained. But peace shone like a thousand suns and warmed everything in its reach. Peace was worth it, all of it.
I considered peace as I walked amongst my Padawans, who were floating two feet above the ground. Their legs were crossed, their small hands curled against their knees. How they could go from fireballs to perfectly tranquil still amazed me.
The only sounds around us were the soft Naboo winds brushing the high blades of grass, and the occasional fish leaping in and out of the nearby pond. As soon as I ended their exercises, the littlest ones would scurry over to the water and giggle endlessly as they watched his show.
“Alright, students,” I announced, “Return to your starting positions.”
Slowly, and a little rockily, they floated back to the ground. They dusted off their pants and stood to attention.
“That was very good,” I smiled, “Lots of improvement. Remember that to sustain your altitude, you have to fully give yourself over to the Force. It’s not so much forgetting what you’re doing as it is having peace about it.”
“Yes, Master Y/n,” their voices piped up.
“Alright,” I grinned, “Training’s done for the day. I’ll see you back here tomorrow morning.”
Excited conversations broke out in pairs, a few walked back to the temple, and the youngest took off hand in hand for the pond.
“They’re getting better,” Rey called from behind me, leading her own group of Padawans back from their trek.
I walked in her direction, “Aren’t they? How was the hike?”
“You’re all done for the day,” Rey announced to her class, “Remember to hydrate,” she turned back to me, “Very freeing. We’re close to getting to the top of the mountain.”
When Rey and I first established our training center, we thought we might be able to recruit a few younglings and grow over the years. What we got was an influx of young Force-wielders. The First Order’s reign had caused many to conceal their abilities. As they disappeared, so did the fear of being discovered. There were so many students enrolled that we had to split them up between us; Rey took those aged 8-14 and I took 3-7.
“Are you going to see Finn tonight?” Rey asked as we walked back to the temple.
“I wasn’t planning on it,” I said, “Why?”
“I want to lend him one of the texts,” she explained, “He blew through the last one so fast, I thought I’d have more time before he needed this one.”
Finn, the best man of us all, was flourishing. Not only was he co-leading the Resistance, but he was nearing the end of his Jedi training. I had retired from active military service for the purpose of working more with the Force, but he balanced it all perfectly. I was both impressed and slightly envious.
There was also the small case of Finn and Rey and their…whatever it was.
“Give it to me and I’ll have Poe bring it in to him tomorrow,” I shrugged, my expressionless face curling a smirk, “Or you could go and give it to him yourself.”
Rey gave a healthy dose of side eye, “Don’t.”
“What?” I faked innocence.
“That.”
“What ‘that?’”
“That.”
“I just suggested that you go and give our friend the book you’re lending him for his training,” I threw my hands up in surrender, “Though if you were to stay, the sunset’s supposed to be beautiful toni- ow!”
A firm whack of her satchel silenced me. For all of my trying, I’d never get her to own the way her eyes lit up when she was with Finn.
“I’ll bring it right down,” she called, running ahead into the main building.
I took it as an opportunity to appreciate what we’d built. The temple and its grounds were modest, mixing different architectural stlyes to create something uniquely us. The main building was styled after the old temple on Coruscant in the days of the New Republic, when my grandfather would have been a master. But the huts and the stone ground outside were less modern. Rey and I had taken inspiration from Ach-To, the place where both of our Force journeys had taken shape. The whole place felt like home and I was happy our Padawans shared in that feeling.
Judging by the sun’s position, it was time for me to head out for the evening. I started down the stone path that led to the open field, already excited for what awaited me. The closer I got, the more sounds became prominent. High pitched giggles, quick beeps, grass rustling underneath two pairs of feet…each one set my heart alight.
Finally, I got close enough to see the scene. Through the high plains, my two children chased BB-8, with R2 watching from close by.
My babies, their heads covered in dark mops of curls like their father, bounced and toddled through the grass. They shrieked in happiness as BB-8 reversed course and began chasing them. R2 watched them like a nervous mother, ready to intervene at any moment if one of them needed anything. This was exactly how I wanted them growing up; free and full of joy.
“Room for one more?” I called, walking through the field to come join them.
“Mama!” They screamed, runnning at top speed to me. When they reached me, I knelt down and let them topple me over.
“I missed you,” Lyra, my daughter, exclaimed.
“I missed you too,” Jax followed up, never one to be outdone by his sister.
Kisses were pressed to their heads, “I missed you both so much. Ready to go home?”
A resounding chorus of ‘yes’ came.
“R2 and BB come too?” Lyra asked.
“R2’s going to stay here with Aunt Rey,” I explained, R2 hopped between living at our home and the temple, “But Daddy needs BB, so we’ll bring him with.”
They cheered, while I chuckled quietly to myself, “Daddy would fall into a bottomless pit of sadness.”
Rey caught up to us, holding out the Jedi text. “Off you go, without another word,” she ordered me, sweetly changing her tone to address her niece and nephew, “Here’s a game to play on the way home; if Mommy says anything about me or Uncle Finn, scream really loud until she stops.”
Jax and Lyra excitedly bounced up and down before taking off with Bee.
I shot Rey a sarcastic smile, “You’re a gem.”
“And you’re annoying,” she replied with the same smile.
“See you tomorrow,” I called, strolling behind the twins.
“See you then.”
Jax and Lyra chased Bee the whole way back to the Falcon. While my starfighter was precious, it hadn’t been very practical once I started bringing the twins along with me. The Falcon, when not in use by the Resistance, was what I used to fly us the short ten minutes from the temple to our home.
“Can I fly the ship, Mama?” Jax asked as we boarded.
A spitting image of his father, he was the one Dameron whose appetite for adrenaline I had a shot at curbing.
“Not till you’re older, bud,” I said as we made our way to the cockpit.
My body relaxed as soon as I entered the Falcon. Up until Naboo, it was the place I’d lived longest in my life. The twins were growing up in the co-pilot seat, watching both their parents fly the beast.
“Where are our seatbelts?” I began our checklist, a silly little routine I’d come up with to make flying more fun.
“Around our waist,” they answered in unison. We’d also installed seatbelts.
I adjusted a few switches, “Where are our hands?”
“At our sides.”
“Where are our heads?”
“In the sky!”
Smiling proudly, I powered up the ship.“Then let’s gooooo!”
With a round of cheers and hand claps, we lifted off the ground and headed home.
—————————
Upon getting back to our modest homestead, I changed out of my Jedi robes and into my mom clothes. The only piece of the ensemble that always remained with me was my lightsaber, clipped to my belt.
I watched the twins play in the backyard through the floor to ceiling glass windows in the dining room. Poe and I had taken our time taking the house from a bare bones to something beautiful. We finished about half way through my pregnancy, when we got a curveball thrown at us.
Jax.
During the first scan, the doctor was confidant that there was one child and one child only. It was at the seecond one, with Poe anxiously gripping my hand and studying the screen, that the doctor made an announcment. There was a second heartbeat.
There was a moment of panic, we’d have been crazy not to. Two babies. Two cribs. Two sets of screaming 2AM wake up calls. Two bottles. Two of everything. But by the time we got back home, we were overjoyed.
“It’s a good thing, right?” Poe had smiled, “Two little yous.”
“Or two little yous,” I grinned, imagining what our babies may look like.
Poe took my hands, rubbing his thumbs across the skin, “We waited so long for this. I’m not gonna complain that we’re getting more of it than expected.”
It was true. We had waited to start our future until we were in the best possible place. I couldn’t have found true problems with it if I tried…
I shook my head with a smile, “You don’t do anything by half, Dameron.”
“I’m gonna take that as a compliment,” he winked, pulling me into this chest.
My husband had, indeed, won the genetic lottery. The kids, from their hair to their personalitties, were just like their father. It only mattered to me that they were hapy and healthy, but there was a small part of me that hoped they might take on some of my traits as they got older.
I gave birth on the rare rainy Naboo day, the queen having loaned me the royal birthing suite at the hospital. We already had their first names picked out, but made a judgement call as we held them in our arms that night. Poe was squeezed beside me in bed, an arm around my back.
“We gonna do middle names?” Poe asked softly, Lyra dozing against his chest.
“I hadn’t even thought of it,” I never looked up from Jax, admiring the creases in the corners of his eyes, “I mean, I don’t have one. Neither do you.”
Poe inched one shoulder up into a shrug, not wanting to disturb his daughter, “Could be nice to start a tradition.”
“What’d you have in mind?”
He thought for a moment, “What about for Jaxon…Kes and Han?”
“Jaxon Kes Han Solo-Dameron?” I tested the name, “That’s a mouthful.”
“And Lyra Leia Shara Solo-Dameron?”
I tried to laugh quietly, “Poe, that’s five names. And listen to all the ‘a’s.’ She’ll never forgive us.”
“She’s got you as a mom, she’s got Rey as an aunt…I want her to have a piece of our moms to carry with her through life,” Poe whispered, “A’s be darned.”
Smiling and shaking my head, I looked from my husband to my kids. I already knew they was force sensitive, they were already carrying three legacies for three different lineages, the Damerons, the Solos and the Kenobis…
Then I thought about how much I’d have loved to be named after Sola. Perhaps I was named after some relative long passed. Lyra and Jax would never know all their grandparents, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be connected to them.
“Lyra Leia Shara Solo-Dameron,” I looked back down to Jax, “Jaxon Kes Han Solo-Dameron. Don’t hate us for how we love you.”
Poe snorted, prompting me to join him in a hushed fit of laughter.
Now my overly named children were on their feet every hour of the day, demanding Bee be at their constant beck and call, already asking to fly ships and wield lightsabers. They were everything Poe and I had expected them to be. They were truly Solos and Damerons.
The security system to the house beeped, announcing an incoming ship. I picked up my tablet, though there was no need to. I knew exactly who it was. I just liked seeing the familiar X-Wing fly in every night.
A moment later, the front door opened, and my body was once again put at perfect ease.
“I’m home.”
Nearly seven years together and a decade of knowing one another, and the sound of Poe’s voice still set me on a lovely edge. I looked forward to him coming home each night just as much as I did when we were young commanders, expecting him back from a mission.
And the sight of him…forget about it.
He strolled in, handsome as ever, in his general’s uniform. He’d shaved the beard a while back, when the twins were babies and it became a pain-inflicting form of entertainment to tug on it. The stubble retook its place. There were some grays still coming in on his head, though Poe would never admit it. He wore it all so well, it was almost annoying how perfect he could look without trying.
He wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me against him. “Hi,” he whispered huskily.
“Hi,” I smiled against the lips that were already coming in hot.
The kiss was sweet and eager, like the ten hours we were apart were just enough to bring him to the line between gentle longing and agony. I took all of it, bracing myself by gripping his collar and melting into his body.
Once we pulled apart, a loopy grin appeared on his face. “How was your day?”
“Good,” I smiled like a lovestruck teenager, “You?”
“Long,” he answered, rubbing his hand up and down my back, “Had a meeting with a couple of the Mon Calamari royalty.”
“Ah, that explains the uniform,” I smoothed out the collar.
Poe tugged at the neck, “It’s suffocating.”
I looked from his lips and back up to his eyes, “It’s hot.”
The signature Poe Dameron smirk made its way across his lips, “Then it’s worth suffering for.”
Without another word, the air changed from electric to soothing. One peck to my lips, a squeeze of my waist and he walked off to the kitchen.
“Did the funding come through?” I asked as I followed him through the house.
“Yeah,” Poe reached into a cabinet and grabbed a glass, “It’s not like we’re launching a full-scale attack or anything. We just need to cover some ship repairs, maybe nab a few from a yard somewhere.”
“If you need me to come throw some weight around, I can,” I came and leaned agaisnt the counter, “My grandfather had good relations with the Mon Calamari, so did Mom.”
Poe drank, his Adam’s apple bobbing with each swallow, before setting the glass down. “I think we got it in the bag, but thank you for reminding me that my wife could do my job in her sleep.”
“Not true,” I shook my head, “You and Finn are doing a great job. Three would just crowd the place up at this point.”
Poe gave a half smile as he leaned over the sink, his mind visibly drifting elsewhere. I could sense his unease.
“What is it?” I asked, getting silence in return. That was serious. “I can already feel there’s something you’re not telling me, so there’s no point in hiding.”
Poe scrunched his face up, “But I’m getting better at it?”
I spared a fake laugh and scooted closer, our shoulders brushing. “Come on...”
“There’s been a few…” he sighed, “I don’t even know what to call them. Attacks, I guess, working their way through the systems.”
It wasn’t totally shocking, I’d seen on the Holonet that in the Outer Rim, a few Imperial and First Order disciples had attacked local businesses. Theft, arson, while awful, were still classified as minor compared to what crimes had been committed during the war.
“I read about the Rattatak one earlier today. And Felucia.”
“That’s the thing,” Poe sighed, “They seem to be working their way through the systems, starting with the Outer Rim and working their way in. They just attacked Kashyyyk today. Chewie’s there now checking things out and offering help.”
“Wait, so why is this being kept quiet?” I asked, “I didn’t read anything about Kashyyyk.”
Poe rubbed his hands over his face, “Because technically it’s not something to worry about yet. It’s not an uprising, it’s a bunch of kids thinking they know how to run a galaxy. In an ideal world, it just wouldn’t be happening. I don’t have jurisdiction anywhere where they’re happening, the Resistance barely has any pull on those planets. They’re tying my hands.”
It was then I realized I couldn’t remember a time where I didn’t think like a military strategist. Maybe when I was young, but as soon as Mom had started taking me to senate hearings, I was long gone.
“Are we sending relief?” I continued.
“Of course,” Poe answered, “I sent Chewie with orders to give them whatever they need.”
I shrugged, “Then I guess that’s all we do at this point. We did clean up for so long, there’s always a group who thinks they can do it better than the last guys. Nothing ever comes from it.”
“Yeah,” Poe quietly said, “I know.”
I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and leaned into his back, he held onto my wrists.
“It’s a waste of time thinking about it, but,” Poe paused turning his head towards me, “I wish there’d never been a war.”
It was a thought I’d had nearly every day since the fight had begun. Had there been no war, I’d have never lost precious years with my brother, I’d have never lost my parents, my uncle, hood friends…I’d have become a completely different person.
Jax’s scream of his sister’s name, followed by a round of laughter broke me out of my head.
Had there been no war, Poe and I would have never crossed paths. I’d have never been stranded on Jakku and met Rey and Finn. I’d have never been led to Ach-To and learned my heritage. I’d have never married Poe. I’d have never given birth to Jax and Lyra.
“I do too,” I replied, getting to my tiptoes and pressing my lips to his ear, “But something beautiful was born from it.”
I kissed his temple softly and Poe stroked his hand across my arm. We watched through the windows as our kids played in the grass. Soon, they’d realize that it was long past the time their father came home and run inside to greet him. Dinner would be had, leftovers tonight, and the table would be filled with laughter. Poe and I would tuck them in, give plenty of hugs and kisses, before retiring to our own room. We’d fall asleep in each other’s arms as we always had, and life would continue on just how it had for the past three years…

*BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP*
*BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP*
The emergency communication signal through our bedroom. I woke first, looking to Poe’s nightstand but realizing the noise was coming from both of ours. That never happened.
“Poe,” I slurred, shaking my husband’s arm, “Poe, wake up.”
“What,” he exclaimed, clearing his throat after.
“Comms,” I rolled over and picked up my device, “This is Y/n.”
“Y/n,” Rose Tico called, “The base is under attack. We need you and Poe here now.”
My heart came to a grinding halt, “What?”
“We’re being invaded, we need help.”
Without another thought, I jumped out of bed, “We’re on our way.”
Poe was just finishing his conversation as well, throwing the covers off and grabbing his pants from the floor.
“What the hell?” He mumbled as he threw his clothes on.
I frantically ran to throw a tunic on over my camisole. I threw my hand out and used the Force to retrieve my lightsaber. Though my mind was inflamed with worry, my thinking were still clear.
“3PO!” I yelled, rushing out the bedroom and into the hall, “3PO!”
“Yes, Mistress Y/n,” the protocol droid came waddling in, “How may I-“
“Protect the kids,” I ordered, “The base is under attack.
“Oh, my goodness-“
Any other comments went unheard, I was already out the front door with Poe skidding behind.
“Take the fighters,” he called.
We sprinted around the edge of our house to where the ships were parked. Poe’s X-Wing and my starfighter sat next to one another, waiting for their next call to action.
I unlatched the cockpit and hopped in, not even bothering to fasten my seatbelt but making a point of putting on my headset to communicate with Poe.
“All set?” He rang in my ear.
“Ready,” I reported, the hum of the ship’s innards coming to life. I don’t think I’d ever gotten it in the air quicker.
The ten minute flight seemed to take hours. The closer we got, the clearer the smoke trails were. The base was ablaze.
“You seeing this?” I asked, it was an obvious question but I was dumbstruck.
“I see it,” Poe answered.
We finally neared base, miniature sized bodies scattering in and out of the building. Poe and I landed in the outer part of the hanger, the one area that didn’t seem to be under attack yet.
As soon as I leapt out of my cockpit, smoke hit my nostrils. Blasterfire and screams rang through the air. It took me straight back to the war.
“Let’s go,” Poe yelled, pulling me back to the present.
Extending my lightsaber, the two of us ran towards the back entrance through the hanger. The hallways were pure chaos. Resistance personnel ran hunched over, dodging blaster fire from the invaders. As one woman ran past us, her attacker came chasing after her a second later. Poe, wielding a blaster, landed a shot to his chest.
“Get to the med bay,” I ordered the woman, turning to Poe, “We have to find Finn.”
We took off down the next hall, the various ones around it bringing a stream of cries for help. They’d attacked the halls of the non-combat personnel first, it seemed. It made sense, wipe out all the easy targets first.
Poe and I began to return their attack one by one, my lightsaber slashing through blasters and sticking itself in the chests of the opposing team. Poe and I went back to back at one of the hubs, wiping our separate halls out. It didn’t matter how long it had been since we’d fought together, we were a perfectly oiled machine.
Eventually, we got to the main hall where the offices were. In the distance, I spotted a dark figure landing punches and taking shots.
“Finn!” I called out.
His head perked up, “Y/n!”
Poe and I sprinted down the hall, taking out a few of the invaders on our way.
“What the hell happened?” I asked while dodging a blast.
“They came out of nowhere,” Finn replied, twisting a man’s arm and pulling, causing a sick crack, “Security didn’t even catch them.”
Poe pushed me down to the ground, saving me from a near fatal shot, and fired back. While on my knees, I used the Force to pull a few men to the ground, landing roundhosue kicks once I was back on my feet. I swung my lightsaber around to stab though the shoulder of one who was aiming at Poe.
“Coming at you!” Finn yelled in my direction.
I whipped around and he Force launched his attacker toward me. Spinning, I slashed my lightsaber through his abdomen and shoved him to the ground.
Once we’d eliminated everyone in our hall, we took off toward the center of the base. Inside the war room, there were several Resistance member clutching their wounds and trying to help one another.
“We gotta get out front,” Poe said, “See where they’re coming from.”
We made a beeline for the main entrance where the majority of the blasterfire was coming from. Our soldiers were holding a defensive line to try and keep anyone else from getting in. Poe took up position with them while Finn and I slipped out the side. I dodged blaster fire with my lightsaber and used the Force to knock over one half of the offensive. It gave our team the opportunity to ground most of them. Once the rest of our attackers realized that they had greatly underestimated our numbers, they began to retreat back to their ships.
There was a moment of shocked silence after they left. The noise inside had died down, it seemed like a collective call had been made to leave. In the distance, I could see the Naboo fire and rescue team flying in, ready to take down the flames.
Poe got up from his spot and came to me and Finn, throwing his arms around me. The power of fear that came with fighting was something I’d forgotten.
“Let’s get inside,” he led, “Assess the damage.”
The three of us grabbed three gas masks to help with smoke inhalation and walked the halls. We helped the injured get to the med bay and checked to make sure the bodies strewn weren’t wearing Resistance colors. Sadly, we’d lost at least a dozen.
“You notice anything about these guys?” I asked, looking at one with a lightsaber hole through his chest.
“What do you mean?” Finn asked.
I looked down the rest of the hall, all the intruders wore matching grey uniforms. Similar to what Imperials used to wear during Palpatine’s reign.
“They’re all uniformed,” I answered, nudging the man’s boot with mine.
Poe and Finn looked around them, confirming what I’d said.
“This wasn’t random like Felucia or Kashyyyk,” I continued, “This was coordinated.”
“Guys,” Rose called breathlessly from the end of the hall, “You gotta come see this.”
The three of us followed her to the growing crowd of personnel all staring at something. Getting closer, I could see they were surrounding a body. I couldn’t have imagined what I’d see when the people parted for us.
A woman in a lieutenant’s uniform with her chest slashed open, blood pooling in her lap. A crimson stained paper was tagged to her shoulder. I had to kneel down, the mask barely shielding me from the smell, to read what it said.
‘DEATH TO THE RESISTANCE. LONG LIVE THE NEW EMPIRE.’
I unpinned the note from the dead woman’s jacket, the only dignity I could give her. My eyes didn’t leave her lifeless face as I handed the paper up to Poe and Finn. Their stunned silence matched mine.
The communicator in the pocket of my sweatpants went off, I blindly pulled it out and switched it on.
“Yeah?” I said, the syllable barely leaving my lips.
“Y/n,” Rey called over, “What’s going on? I can see the smoke from here.”
I took the first breath I could actually feel since waking up. “There was an attack,” I stated, my eyes still staring at the woman’s soulless eyes, “We’re okay.”
“What happened? Who was it?”
I pivoted to look up at Poe and Finn, who were just as confused as I was. Yet even with so little information, it all made perfect sense. None of the attacks had been random. They were part of something much bigger. Something that was heading straight towards us.

I think Sonamy in Sonic Frontiers is better than Sonic Prime. I feel like they kinda make Amy a villain. Seriously, I want my happy-cheerful Amy with Cindy Robinson voice 😭 (Amy's voice in Sonic Prime kinda a mean popular girl with sassy attitude's voice)
Em, although I see what you mean, I think they did a really interesting angle with Amy in Prime.
Frontiers Amy felt too much like Archie Amy, the Game version of Amy is usually very supportive of Sonic, a bit 'Quick on her Heels' to jump into things, true, but she's not so sassy. She does counter Sonic abruptly in a few games, but never to the point that it comes off as abrasively insensitive. (Personally, I think Amy is a bit spicy in her quick conflict starters in Frontiers 🙄 don't sue me lolol)
Tumblr media
(Gosh, this moment makes me CRINGE. It was all GREAT, but then this moment happened. Amy should never be animated to this line, because it's completely not her, and the Japanese changed it, and thank goodness. It's so hurtful to say this, knowing that's not what Sonic is saying. Amy is insightful, it's one of the wonderful things about her, she's so attuned to the emotions of life. This scene made me squirm at how confrontational it was. Everything else was fine, but this. one. scene. Ruined Amy's chara for Frontiers for me. She's the SASSY one, not Prime!)
Amy has always been the 'heart' of the team. Sonic is the 'will' and 'soul', that 'Spirit of Freedom'. Knuckles 'Might/Strength and Honor/Duty working in tandem, and Tails the 'Humble Brain' that sometimes falls to thoughts of self-doubts due to idolizing their heroes.
In Prime, Amy is the emotional counterpoint for Sonic. Tails is the focal point of his comradery and bravery. Knuckles is Sonic's sense of heroism, positivity, and never giving up attitude.
Through his friends in Prime, we see more of Sonic's true character. He supports and uplifts his friends, is funny with his cocky attitude, struggles when things are in disarray, and seeks unity again--knowing he's stronger with it.
The disconnect in Boom--for the video game--was Sonic was a loner, not understanding that his pride looked like arrogance and got him into a lot of trouble. He learned that things were easier and better with his Friends.
In Prime, he teaches the audience once more that although he is STILL the infamous Sonic The Hedgehog, fastest thing alive, he's also vulnerable without his friends, and cares deeply for them.
Amy shows how all her lessons have distilled in Sonic a sense of compassion with his firece justice attitude. he's not--"I'm right, you're wrong." Anymore. He's "There's a better way." which is Amy's role to show the audience that side of him. (It doesn't matter, now what happens. I will never give up the fight~ Long as the voice inside, drives me to run and fight. It doesn't matter who is wrong or who is right~ - A Sonic Theme centered around Sonic's personality. Lyrics and Song: (x) )
Tails's role in Prime teaches honesty of character. Sonic has grown so attached to his 'man in the chair' but also sees Tails as so much more, he's his best friend, but he's never had to 'earn Tails's trust' before. In the backstory, Tails admired him as a hero. In this world, Sonic has to now earn and give that trust back tenfold--the fans often complained that Sonic wasn't always 'brotherly' to Tails like they wanted him to be, this is SEGA building a character arc to say, "Sonic also admires Tails" and appreciates and needs him. In the media of Sonic brand, we know that we've only ever seen Sonic inspiring Tails, now we see him fully immersing himself in uplifting his little buddy once more--showing how much Sonic has grown throughout the years as a character.
Even Shadow, Knuckles, and Rouge (Even Big ~Steadfast heart of gold!~) play a role in helping the audience see Sonic's 'True Character'. I felt it was written with a lot of care towards the true canon of Sonic and the casts character portrayals, although throwing them into an 'amnesia'-like clever trope to go through their 'characters' again in an entertaining way, that's just a personal preference of the script-writers in how they wanted to accuracy tell their view of the story and charas, but all the materials that make up their characters are still present and accounted for.
The writing is interesting, and there were times I actually FANGIRLED because I would have written THE SAME LINES if it were me in charge of dialogue. It was handled with more care than we've ever seen in the Sonic universe up to this point. (Referring to the string of some less-than-what-we-would-have-wanted stuff...)
I've lived through so many Sonic reboots, bad portrayals, and heartbreakingly bad moments as a Sonic fan... that seeing expert film script writers--I believe the same that worked on Marvel Spiderman or other comic-book titles who are HEAVY into lore--that Sonic's lore is finally being treated with respect and due research.
Is it made for kids? Sure. Was there a way to make the story for more our age audiences? Yeah. Did they do that? Not really, but that doesn't mean it's not a carefully considered love letter to the older fans as well.
Amy, in my humble opinion, had some interesting directions for Frontiers...
Amy in Prime, although they are ALL characterizations of 'spinoff versions' of their true selves, were--and maybe--are leading up to character arcs I feel I will probably approve of.
Why is this different? Why do I approve more of Prime--what should be considered a jump in fanfiction dimensions--verses a mainline game that supposedly should be more accurate of lore and character?
I never said that Frontiers didn't have lore! It had a great animated sequence showing off Knuckles, it had some great characterization moments with the cast and Sonic! Arguably a good few dramatic scenes of angst to boost too--though, that's not what's as important to me.
Tumblr media
I want good story, good character, the works... what Frontier did was alright and good for being in a drought of long standing runs with no relief in a dry spell that Sonic has been trying to fight due to Sammy and other companies (watched a video on it, so much clarity!) not giving enough support to him--BUT!
Prime dives into the psyche of Sonic, and it has more emotional depth--in my humble opinion--of character-revealing moments of characters truly bonding and revealing their bond to the world, then Frontiers--which still had a nice blend--but not to the same extent.
How come?
One is a limited game with limited resources, the other was funded resources, given all the lore it could ever want and ask for, and braced itself for a narrative far longer than a few hours of skating on railings. (Not bashing gameplay, making a metaphorical 'tease' statement here.)
It's just differences.
Amy in Prime, seems more like Canon Amy's spirit, then Frontier's Amy... simply because Frontier's Amy didn't get enough screentime, presence, and greater bonding opportunities.
Prime Amys, though again, all separate and split 'pieces' are still 'pieces' nonetheless of the recognizable Amy Rose we've grown up with to love and know and love with assurity.
Yes, all of them. Because they are FOILS to Amy.
Tumblr media
This one LITERALLY becomes Amy by the end of the episode! We just had to walk to get there, but we got there!
Does that mean Frontiers is worse or bad? No. Does that mean I hate Frontiers? No. Does that mean Prime is the supreme Sonic media in all the land? Again, no, stop that. You keep that kinda talk up, I'll lightly swat your hand and give you my best puffed-up, Amy pouty face you've ever seen! lol
Your argument, to me, is a discussion.
Is Amy portrayed as a villain? No. She's portrayed as a victim of circumstances where Sonic wasn't able to save her from becoming a damsel in distress. Is she a strong damsel in distress? Usefully, yes, because Amy's always been strong no matter what befalls or becomes her. Do they abuse that? Oh yeah! That's what makes this new idea of different versions of her so fun! She's one of the most versatile characters in Sonic media, simply because her personality, character role, and emotional motives are so much more vaster in starting plot points and meaningful, story and character driven narratives that she's one of the best dynamic writing tools to use in Sonic universes. All for Sonic's benefit? Well, yeah, that's one of her Character Roles, to reveal Sonic's 'merciful' side when it comes to fighting and destroying robots for his 'adventurous justice' streaks which I've discussed in earlier topics before.
Tumblr media
"No. Mechanically enhanced. Survival required adaptation. As you will soon learn."
(This scene sets up Rusty Rose as "Survived on her own, used by the Eggmans, all because she was distraught because there was no such things as 'heroes' so she tried to 'save herself'." it's the tragic Damsel in Distress that tried to save herself and couldn't. In this dystopia, what a better character setup do you propose!? She's a victim who fought her own battles and--without friends--failed and so she gave in and succumbed to 'No Hope' a GREAT foil for her chara! She tried hope! It didn't work! Just made her this... able to be manipulated and controlled, losing her 'heart' in the process... quite literally...)
She does help the team reveal some of their hearts too, it's not all just for Sonic's benefit, but for the most part, that is her reason for existing in Sonic's world.
Is Amy happy-cheerful in Sonic Prime? Yeah! Until someone split a stupid Prism and made a world without Sonic's influence in it! Is Cindy the only good voice actress for Amy? I'd argue based on my own childhood experiences someone else, so it's really about preferences, and I would have to say that it's a human decision made by many factors, and doesn't define Amy's character. How can I say that? Because Amy's original voice is Japanese, and I could argue that if we want to be hyper-canon-specific, there are fans who don't even know Cindy Robinson because Amy's always had a Japanese voice actor, and doing an English one is the 'fake' one, so let's not get into semantics XDDD lolol
I agree that Frontiers has spice to her that doesn't really equal Amy to me. Amy sure has some spunk and pizzazz, but not in a confrontational way. She's too kindhearted to argue for no reason, she defends and inspires in different ways that help Sonic and the team, even bad guys go good... There are flaws in her, sure, but not to spark contrasting conflict just 'because'.
Tumblr media
Some may argue this was done in Frontiers to give her more of a 'story arc with rising conflict' but if you're struggling that much... yikes.
Besides, Japanese dub does Amy some real cool justice in Frontiers, and I love the part in the flashback where she's trying to stop the lover from getting herself hurt as she runs into the fray for the man-chaos-looking-creature that she loves. (Which, that whole story is debunked by Sonic Adventure 1 sooooooo...)
Tumblr media
(Sonic being a good hero bf T//^//T We stan a PROTEC scene where Sonic cares about Amy, but when she gets too emotional, can hold her through it!)
I loved that scene! It's Amy realizing how people see her actions, how she 'runs into the fray after Sonic' but begins to question whether that's really right or not. She loves love, but recklessly tossing aside life due to unspoken feelings that were too late to speak, to shy to articulate, not enough time..?
She has a 'come to the light' moment where she admits she wants to learn more, mature, and make herself someone that Sonic can respect (In Japanese, which is a really good rewriting in my humble opinion of the original English written script.)
And to agree with you, Sonic DOES support Amy in seeing that sometimes, her actions and views on love are a little exaggerated and skewed, leading him to reach out and show his consideration of her by not calling her 'foolish' or 'reckless' but instead stating that he's excited to hear all about her adventure when she gets back.
Tumblr media
He also has some unspoken things, but until Amy learns the difference between real love and fictional exaggerations taught to people who 'dramatically' view love, she may never be able to understand how much he truly does care about her... because she wouldn't view his 'subtle realism' as how someone 'madly, deeply, oh, truly in love!' would act because of her current perceptions on how love--and subsequently people in love--are like or act.
She realized that maybe, both Sonic and her friend, show and express love in different ways. That's why she's going to discover those 'different types of love', to understand Sonic and love better. This is a Coming of Age.
Frontiers needed more time in the oven, personal opinion with the respects that I'm not an authority figure on anything, and Prime could have benefited older Sonic fans by having its rating not made explicitly for younger audience's parameters, but they did good with what they could work with--with what limitations certain ratings bring.
Now, as a conclusion:
Tumblr media
Both are good, but I prefer Prime due to having more 'story-focused' time to bake in the oven and show us characterizations with just enough time for us to bond and see the meaning in it, but I also liked Frontiers and their character moments, but wished for longer moments and less 'confusing' story elements to add to those interactions.
My Cuties, I'm your girl, Mayra. And this rant was sponsored by Anon, who is so gracious enough to donate 1 million dollars to educating Japanese Sonic fans of who the heck is Cindy Robinson! :D Love you all and goodnight! <3

While I’m not a dinbo fan (din/fennec all
The way) I do have to say your positivity of this season is refreshing. I feel like I’ve been defending this season all by myself. Dave and Jon are excellent writers and I trust them with my whole heart. This season has really focused on the subtle plot choices that are going to come clashing together and make sense.
Nice to see another fan enjoying the show. 🧡
I love this! Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts. It's so nice to hear from other voices who are not so quick to jump on the negativity bandwagon. The Mandalorian tag has definitely had its ups and downs over the seasons. I can remember when the chief complaint was that there were too many episodes with canned plots that were "filler" or "slow" or "side quests" and everyone kept asking "where is the plot?" Of course, the overarching plot (that all those canned episodes contributed important pieces to) always came crashing down in the last few episodes of the season and they complained about that too.
This season has seen a lot more world building and has been incredibly focused on character development. The chief complaint I've heard now is that Din's character is "regressing" or being "sidelined". In the first two seasons, Din's priority was a) keeping Grogu alive and b) getting Grogu to a permanent home. Since The Book of Boba Fett, Din has accepted that Grogu is now his responsibility for the long haul. That has shifted his whole world. He can't keep dragging a baby on bounty hunting missions and even if he could, he wants something better for Grogu. He wants to give him a home and people, a stable lifestyle. Bo-Katan can make that happen and he is willing to support her in any way possible to help her succeed - not just for his and Grogu's benefit - because he truly believes in her.
And though I understand and respect that Dinbo is not everyone's cup of tea, I do believe that is the direction the writers are taking their relationship, especially in light of the fact that Bo has voluntarily (with zero prompting from Din) assumed a motherly role with Grogu. For me, I just really want to see these characters find some peace and happiness. I know that in Star Wars peace is always temporary, but it would be very satisfying for me to see Grogu, Din, and Bo (three characters who started this journey utterly alone) become a family. They have each grown so much over these three seasons and the writers have spent the most time focusing on them for a reason. I believe their story can be told well without detracting from the bigger picture of restoring Mandalore and pushing back against the restoration of the Empire.
We know that Star Wars fans are a toxic bunch who aren't happy unless they're complaining. I'll be the first to admit, I went through a phase where I really hated on the sequels (even though I was actually enjoying them until TRoS). We've all done it. And let's be real, there are legitimate reasons to be critical of some of these shows/movies. But I really do believe that a lot of the negativity over this season of The Mandalorian has been predominantly from fans who were just salty that their hyper specific headcanons weren't coming true or because they jumped the gun and judged it before they got to the end. If I had a nickel for every complaint about loose threads, I'd be rich. Even before the season is complete, the vast majority of those threads or pieces have become relevant and now everyone can clearly see why those were important. Patience is a virtue, y'all. Let the season play out and just learn to enjoy the ride. Save your criticisms for after it's done - you'll probably have a lot less of them and you'll undoubtedly feel less stupid when that plot thread you thought was just dropped actually became relevant (looking at you people who thought they went through all that trouble with IG-11 for no reason). Maybe we should all start meditating on my new favorite Mandalorian proverb:
"One does not speak unless one knows."
It sounds a lot like this other favorite of mine:
"Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive." Proverbs 17:28

11 (Damerey)& 24(Can you answer for both Poe and Rey?)
Thank you for the asks!
11. What's your favourite piece of fanart for [ship]?
Always my favorite, though several of her Damerey are almost as amazing.
I also love this...
And of course Tripple B!
I fell in love with this one shortly after finding it on-line (uncredited), only to find and befriend the artist through Discord. Now I am proud to share it with credit! (Did you really expect me to choose just one?)
24. What's your favourite thing about [character]?
Rey: The thing I love most about Rey is that she has remained a truly good person, despite the way she grew up and had to live on Jakku. There are still some 'fans' out there saying the trilogy would have been 'better' if Rey had become the evil she saw herself as in TROS, but I am so very grateful the writers stayed true to the character they introduced in TFA.
Poe: I guess I can say kind of the same thing about him, though his upbringing wasn't quite as stark as hers. He has always been surrounded by good people to look up to, so his kindness and positivity is something I'm sure he's always had. Even his behavior in TLJ was due to him trying to do the right thing for the people he cared about.
And that, ladies and germs, is why I ship Damerey.
Tumblr media
Okay, I'm going to bed. But if I have more asks in the morning, I won't be upset!
