I wish there was more steddie time travel fics. Where steddie travels back all the way to season one. Maybe both or one of them. Actually both because the comedic potential. Like Steve and Eddie trying to change things and save the day. And anyone who sees them sneaking around thinks they are in a secret gay relationship. Nancy has this whole theory that her boyfriend is gay and sneaking off with Eddie Munson. Reason why he's being distant and hiding things. And on one hand she's not wrong, because steddie has so much unresolved sexual tension that one is oblivious to and the other is to afriad to admit to. But on the other hand is she way way off.

okay tbh, as great as that would be, i don't think everyone would immediately jump to the gay thing. if this is during steve's kingly days, he's got enough sway and popularity that people would bend over backwards to prove he's a Normal Straight American Boy.

what i think would be more likely, considering he throws those parties and is a good athlete, people would assume he's either developing an addiction on something OR taking steroids. nancy would be SO worried about it because omg steve, do you know what drugs do to your brain? how are you going to get into college if you keep doing that stuff??

meanwhile, steve is touched by her concern and also like...just going along with it? What is he supposed to do? That explanation makes WAY more sense than the whole Upside Down nonsense that they're trying to prevent. So now you've got Steve--who can do a mean kegstand but has literally never even considered doing anything harder than that because DUH the hard stuff would fuck up his body and he's an ATHLETE--trying to pretend he's got to get his Drugs so he has to cancel his plans with Nancy and go see Eddie RIGHT NOW. Because of Drugs. No other reason.

But we all know Nancy is a stubborn bastard (affectionate), so she'd definitely use her investigative skills to find out more. She'd track down this Eddie Munson guy and give him a piece of her mind. Now, this Nancy is still pretty mild and is lacking guns because the UD stuff hasn't hit her yet, but Eddie remembers with crystal clarity his Nancy and her weapons proficiency and reacts to past Nancy accordingly. As in, he immediately apologizes for anything and everything and promises not to do it again, please don't hurt him.

Now Nancy is confused as to why this big bad leather and chain wearing drug dealer is practically cowering before her. She starts to suspect other stuff is going on because the pieces aren't adding up. Eventually she figures out what's happening and joins Steve and Eddie because while they're both creative and skilled in their own ways, they're not really that great at the actual investigating bit of the plan-making process.

It's only then, when she's spending more time with the two of them together, does she start to catch on to the way Eddie looks at Steve. She remembers the rumors that go around about Eddie, so she's not too surprised because Steve is stupid hot and really good in bed, like, so good, the things that boy could do with his tongue will stay with her always. What does catch her off guard is the way Steve reacts whenever Eddie does something that edges around flirty (but still has plausible deniability). He doesn't get disgusted, he gets confused and ruminates over it. It's curious (though if nancy were honest to herself, she'd admit that she's never really understood all the romance stuff and it's never particularly appealed to her). If there were more time, she'd probably study them more.

But there are more important things happening, so she's going to leave them to deal with that mess on their own.

Instructor S’Chn T’Gai Spock of Starfleet Academy has been reflecting on Cadet James T. Kirk for 26.7 minutes, 21.2 minutes longer than the five-point-five minutes he allotted to himself for shallow-level meditation. He now only had five hours, thirty-nine-point-eight minutes total for meditation.

He forgives himself for his lapse, as his subject of reflection is simply so…fascinating.

He first had the pleasure of meeting the infamous James Tiberius Kirk, son of Commodore Winona Kirk and hero George Kirk, when Kirk appeared in the advanced testing room near the start of the semester.

After he had signed in all students on the role sheet he was given (noting some former pupils, with what could perhaps pass for satisfaction amongst Vulcans upon seeing former students succeed and desire to continue down the path one had laid for them), one student at the back of the line remained unaccounted for.

“Dif-tor heh smusma, Trensu S’Chn-T’Gai,” the student greeted with a perfunctory bow, a shapely ta’al, and a perfect—if, perhaps, out-of-breath—Vulcan accent.

“Sochya-eh dif, orensu,” the response and a returned ta'al would have been startled out of him, if Vulcans were capable of such things. “You are not on my role,” he recovered.

“I have gained dispensation from khart-lan Pike, trensu,” he replied easily, placing a PADD on the instructor’s desk.

Spock analyzes the screen quickly.

Indeed, the document is real and authorizes ne-lan James T. Kirk to attempt two Bilingual Aptitude and Masterful Fluency exams (illogically shortened to the “BAMFs” by his communications-track students, as “everyone who passes one IS one”), one in Standard Vulcan and one in High Vulcan.

“Are you certain of your desire to take both tests on the same day?” Spock raises an eyebrow.

“I will take them,” Kirk determines, a steely-confident-captivating look in his reflective blue eyes, “and I will pass them.”

And he did, with what the humans term “flying colors”.

Spock has not seen such an entrancing essay since his days on Vulcan—has not seen handwriting with such calligraphic beauty or read sentences structured so fascinatingly or ideas presented so concisely and connections made so logically that he cannot help but think this blond, upstart ne-lan has copied from somewhere; but even the most comprehensive anti-plagiarism cross-checks known to the galaxy fail to turn up nothing but the most tenuous links to completely irrelevant papers based on handwriting similarities.

During Kirk’s oral examinations for both Standard and High Vulcan, Spock deviates from his assigned topics of conversation by 15.6% completely unknowingly; the ebb and flow of speaking to another on his mental level so novel and unique that he could not help becoming absorbed into it.

His internal clock breaks him free of his reverie.

He, an instructor of Starfleet Academy, has been reflecting on Cadet James T. Kirk for 58.8 minutes, 55.3 minutes longer than the five-point-five minutes he allotted to himself for shallow-level meditation. He now only had five hours and four-point-seven minutes total for meditation.

In order to function adequately tomorrow, he must achieve four hours minimum of deep-level meditation.

He must also keep all tests he proctors for on-file for at least one Terran year.

His eyes slide to his PADD, where a copy of Kirk’s tests and essays reside.

Perhaps rereading them will help him put the cadet out of his mind.

(He knows it won’t. He does it anyway.)

A/N: That was probably a horrible OOC Spock but unfortunately my “let’s wax on forever about tiny minutiae!!” default writing style and Spock’s ultra-logic don’t...really...mix, and having him go on and on about Jim was kind of the only way I could write it. So, yeah. This is also a part of an idea that I’ve had bouncing around in my head for a while, and also I’m kinda tired of seeing fics where Jim knows Vulcan but has to take the beginner course still because, like, there should be a way to like test out of it and still get the credits, right? Becoming bilingual isn’t something that happens overnight and definitely takes a LOT of hard work and if he can prove that he’s bilingual it’s not his fault he didn’t become bilingual through Starfleet but he still put in all the time and effort and it’s 12:30 AM I’ll shut up now

So curious about Hawkins Home Steve - does he have a tragic backstory? Steve + head trauma = him not really thinking twice about headaches or foggy memories, but also siren song tends to do that anyway! I love how the kids are already essentially in love w Steve and are trying to get him back. Dying to read Eddie's reaction to him being wrong about Steve! Need to know what's going on in that angsty head of his... love the bits of backstory about his apprehension towards humans, the heartbreak of letting something slip through to hurt the kids... him really trying to not let Steve in (physically and emotionally) There's also something particularly tasty in fics when Steve's finally acknowledged as a Good Guy (also give the man a hug... both of them honestly.) Chomping at the bit to know more about Billy and if he comes back... i love how Billy v Steve showdowns + steve protecting the kids manifest in AUs and i'm so so intrigued at how much you've set up, especially from an outsider POV. Also wondering if Steve would be upset about the memory wipes, though i expect he would immediately understanding given the safety of the kids, but I also feel like this is a lot of fodder for angst between those two .... 👀 (also I peep eddie's power over steve waning - and if there's a limit on how often you can use it before stuff starts to slip through...) Sorry for the long ask - and feel free to ignore since I know there are more parts in the works. In love with the concept of this AU!

Anon, i'm LOVING your ask! It makes me so happy to see people, like, ENGAGING with stories in general, but seeing it happen with my silly writings specifically? i'm ECSTATIC!!

i'm not gonna say much because 1) they're mostly just little scenes percolating in my brain that may never actually get put to (virtual) paper and 2) if they miraculously DO get written, i don't want to spoil anything. that being said i'll give you that a) there is LORE i've made up regarding Eddy's siren genetics and b) ooooh, boy do I have a billy appearance/scene/possible oneshot for this 'verse already half written that i think you'll enjoy

one concrete thing i'll give you, because i don't think i'll write it, like, directly into the fic, is that the reason steve is able keep fragments of things so far is twofold.

firstly, the human brain doesn't like gaps in perception and will straight up make up stuff in order to make things make sense so steve's mind is keeping bits to keep his memories somewhat linear even though they've been scrubbed of any intricate detail. secondly, steve just really really wants to be a dad. i've always liked the concept of a goal or ideal being so important to someone, emotionally and mentally, that it can overcome seemingly impossible odds. so steve wants to be a family man so much that even magic can't take it away from him because his very heart is clinging to any scrap of hope for that dream to come true.

I'm dying to know if you have more ideas for the monster kids au/any plans to write out more - genuinely obsessed with what you've given us

I have some vague ideas including Steve helping Lucas learn to play basketball without wolfing out, Steve defending his kids from Principal Jason Carver's baseless accusations, and Steve meeting the famous Uncle Wayne aka the only human Eddie loves and respects (so far).

idk if any of those will come to fruition though since i've got other things i want to finish first. i doubt it'll become like, a full cohesive fic, if i'm honest but i definitely want to write little scenes within the 'verse at the very least. if/when they get written they'll be tagged as hawkins halfway house for homeless horrors, and trensu tells stories.

Do you ever have a fic idea and you really want to talk about it but you’re scared someone else will write it?

Tbh, not really? Most of the time, i post my fic ideas in the hopes someone will pick it up and write something based off it because i'm realistic about the likelihood of me actually writing a full fledged fic myself. i hardly ever do that so i can hardly begrudge someone for taking what i offered and making something of it, you know?

besides, unless they're outright plagiarizing (which would irritate the hell out of me, if someone just copied my post word for word), nobody ever writes about a concept the same as anyone else, so it's kind of fun to see how different people interpret the same idea.

but I will say that if I have an idea that i plan to write proper fic for, i have a couple of friends that i bounce it off of that i trust wouldn't go around sharing them or would ask for my go-ahead before posting anything. so my suggestion is, if you really want to share a fic idea without someone else writing it, don't make a post about it and just talk it over with a friend i guess?
