She's Autistic, Queer, and in high school, she was a top student at art history and geography. She also claims that a good abstract painting can improve even the dingiest of houses, and her niece, Maggie, also has a "spice tooth" like her (will pass up chicken nuggets but will eat hot sauce marinated girlled zucchini given the chance).

First Column:

Papa Louie himself as a mummified chef. A bit Ancient Egyptian-inspired, and his hat and ascot are metallic gold and teal. He has a glowing red eye and a hand stretched out. He's gonna get you...Employed. That's pretty much how every game-eria starts.

Caleb as the titluar Candy Man from a horror film series. His costume depicts an African-American bee summoner with honey-based powers. Caleb himself is Blasian, and one of his Grandparents might be of South Asian ancestry. His right hand is a hook. I haven't seen that film, so my description may not be accurate if I got something wrong.

Quinn, Papa Louie's Lawyer and ex-wife of Timm, as a were-cat. She has claws and is scowling. In the games, you get a reward if you make her order ahead of time. She is a closer, and shows up at the end of the in-game day.

Trishna as an orange-themed magical fairy girl. She is a South Asian fashion designer and likes eating fruits, especially tangerines. She comes off as a bit rude, but means well. She has green eyeshadow here and has a wand. She is also Caleb's cousin.

Second Column:

Tohru, a gamer and manga fan dressed as a plumber and a homage to Mario. She is Japanese-American, and likes pink things. She loves playing video games, and her costume consists of overalls, a turtleneck, and a hat with her initial. She is quite jovial, and her pose reflects one mario is often depicted in.

Rudy, the Bassist for Sacrlett and the Shakers, a co-ed Ska-punk band in the papa louie series. He's usually depicted as an Asian-American human, but here he's a were-dinosaur. He has opalescent sunglasses and a color blocked shirt here. He is also smiling at the viewer. His spikes reflect the spiky hairdo as a human.

Xandra, a humanoid alien magical girl dressed as a clown. She and her fraternal twin brother, Xolo, are the rulers of the Kingdom of X and guard the Warp Coins. They landed near an elderly woman's house. The old lady, Edna, Adopted them both. Xandra has teal and hot pink hair with a rainbow top and yellow sleeves. She also is making a silly expression and her clown makeup has mismatched eyeshadow.

Rhonda is a truck driver from toastwood, and is dressed as a witch here. She's Afro-Latine, and likes churros. Her truck is named Josephine, though that name would fit the broomstick she's holding. In the Papa Louie Games, she met her lover, a biker named Rico, and they often travel together. She's laughing here, much often like a witch.

GS&SM infodump time!

Little Ace, Sabo and Luffy loved making comics. When they were 10 years old, Ace and Sabo collaborated on a comic called "Super Drago" (Ace writing, Sabo illustrating), about a superhero dragon and his sidekick Little Jackalope (who was based on Luffy at the time). Meanwhile Luffy, inspired by their comics and the Captain Underpants books (it was 2009), made his own comics about Super Gassy Man, who had superpowered flatulence for seemingly no reason.

And then, when Sabo was 13, he started his own comic called "A Whole New World", which was a Digimon/Neopets/The Amazing World of Gumball crossover comic about a Shoyru and Gabumon transferring to Elmore Junior High and accidentally bringing threats from their universes over. It lasted until Sabo was 16, and has some pretty insane lore. *deep breath*

- Gumball gets (painfully) permanently fused with Gabumon to become "Gumbumon"

- Gumball is in a relationship with Gatomon and gets her pregnant. She gives birth in the epilogue

- Darwin was actually a girl and the Wattersons raised him as a boy, and he's actually cool with being referred to as a guy. He also falls in love with Gomamon

- Elmore gets nuked by Xandra halfway through the story, so all the TAWOG characters travel to the Digital World and live there for the rest of the story

- Penny dies after Gumbumon's first attempt at Digivolving into Garurumon goes horrifically wrong and he turns into a mindless beast

- Mirage (the Shoyru that originally transferred to Elmore Junior High with Gabumon, setting the plot into motion) ends up teaching magic to a whole bunch of characters

- Agumon kills Tina after Digivolving into SkullGreymon out of pure rage at something else and after he devolves is so distraught that he took an innocent life that he decides to lock himself in a crate and eat the key so that he dies a slow and painful death

- The grand finale of the series was a giant multiversal war against "Dark Universe" versions of the characters that led to Darwin dying and Gomamon deciding to be together in death with him, Anais being sold into slavery and multiple characters (including Ocho, Tobias, Piyomon, Terriermon, Lopmon and Teri) being offered as a sacrifice to God to cease the Dark Universe and its inhabitants' existence

- During the epilogue, Gumbumon has so much PTSD from the events of the final war that he can't even be happy about the birth of his own children

- Leomon survives this all

Druke, my man :/

This is going to be kind of long, so buckle up.

Replaying act 1 makes me really want a prequel, especially since the devs have been rerunning some of the Rody and Druke events. I'm at chapter 3 in my replay of act one, and I just finished the scene with the Druke xahe-oyai and Norza. After the Blademaster Druke event a couple of weeks ago, I've been thinking about what Druke's motives for taking the aeon thorns were. Like, obviously he wanted to stay/become stronger despite his age (I don't think he's even that old? I assume he was somewhere in his 20s during the last Pandemonium, so he would have only been in his early forties or late thirties, which isn't that old.), but I feel like that deviates a bit from how his character was portrayed in the last two events (Blademaster and Witch of Winter).

When we first meet Druke in the Blademaster event, he's arrogant and eager to rush into battles if it means he can prove his strength. He's even glad that the Pandemonium has started because he's always wanted to fight in it. Druke and Norza (post-Menue's death) are pretty similar because they're always searching for that next big fight. Once Druke meets Rody and Rody is revealed to be the Crimson Crestbearer, Druke realizes that maybe there's more to fight for than just proving your strength. He swears to help/protect the Crimson Crestbearer and the act ends. Enter the Witch of Winter event. Druke is still his arrogant self, but it's less about growing his strength and more about helping Rody end the Pandemonium.

Now, how does this relate to act 1 chapter 3? The Witch of Winter event is only a short amount of time after the Blademaster event, but Druke has obviously found something new to fight for. If Druke's character motives have changed this much in the short time he's been traveling with Rody, imagine how much more he would have changed in the months (or maybe years?) leading up to Rody's battle with the Eternal. Maybe he even gave up entirely on seeking the next strongest enemy?

But, we know how Rody's battle with the Eternal ended. Rody and Druke were pretty good friends, so Rody's death probably hit him hard. Sure, their other traveling companions were still alive, but Rody was someone that Druke admired, which made their relationship kind of special. For some people (I think I can safely say that Norza and Druke fit into this category), losing the person that you admired can cause you to start sliding back into some bad habits. Once Druke lost the person he admired and wanted to protect, he probably started looking for something that would give his life meaning: becoming the strongest swordsman on Erden. Once he started getting older, he began losing confidence in his skills, and, despite having seen the outcomethanks to Xandra, he accepted the aeon thorns that Norza offered him.

"Oh good." That location he knew.

He strode forward, intending to take Felicity's hand but thinking better of it. It would take too long to explain--or more accurately, aruge. So he dipped at the last minute, tossed her over his shoulder, and sketched the runes of travel in the air.

Xandra swarmed over his consciousness, burning through the mortal's synapses, doing its best to make itself small for its host's sake. Glory surged through its being, delight and power and freedom - but always restrained. Always so careful of its delicate little host.

Leroy slammed onto the sidewalk, physicality jolting back into painful awareness. Xandra had to spread itself thin to shield both him and Felicity - and Leroy honestly wouldn't be surprised if Xen had spent more energy on shielding the woman over himself. That was fair, Leory was more used to it, but gods planar magic hurt. He was grateful the Order had the foresight not to drop them into immediate danger; it always took Leroy a moment to get his bearings.

Three Caballeros story idea

So, reading different posts I thought about this possible fanfiction about the Three Caballeros. Hope you can tell me your ideas and if this sounds good.

Okay. After a fight with Uncle Scrooge during Donald´s birthday, our dear duck decides to take some vacations from his family with his best friends José Carioca and Panchito Pistoles. They travel through Latinamerica and the world discovering new cultures. I thought on making them go to Chapala (my headcanon home for Panchito), Bahía, Rio de Janeiro, Cusco, Cartagena, Buenos Aires, Asunción and other places. They would meet with other characters during their journey (Ari, Fenton-Cabrera, Panchito´s family, Rosinha, Nestor, an OC I love adding to absolutely all my fanfictions).

But, during their journey, they have an evil lurking behind them (*ahem* Felldrake, Sheldgoose and Monkey-Bat-Donkey-Rat). Donald only told Daisy where he went, but because of the last mentioned trio and their allies, the message never arrived, so she and Donald´s family (except Scrooge) are worried where he is. When the Caballeros where in Los Angeles (I will get to that in a second) he is able to contact her. Daisy takes a plane and she discovers Donald´s nephews and Webby sneaked to the plane to follow her and find their uncle. Although they wouldn´t find them at first, because the Caballeros are constantly changing places and our dear antagonists want the McDuck family and the Caballeros divided for their evil plans. Finally she would find Donald in Rio. I was thinking of writing a scene with both ducks dancing while Panchito and José sang “Hot Wings” from the Rio movie.

Also we can´t stay only with Ducktales and The Legend of the Three Caballeros, right? After leaving Duckburg, our trio gets invited to play at a very famous restaurant in Los Angeles. That restaurant is Pizzarriba from “The Looney Tunes Show”. Am I leading to some kind of competition between Donald and Daffy like the one of “Who framed Roger Rabbit?”? Absolutely! I was planning to write a very similar scene of the movie, with the piano fight and everything. Yes, at the end they leave behind their conflict to defeat Marvin the Martian (obviously not working with Felldrake and the other villains), but this can lead to some interesting dynamics and also show more of the Caballeros friendship. Appearances from other Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Speedy Gonzales, Tina Russo, Lola Bunny, Porky Pig, Wile, E. Coyote and the Road Runner are also included.

Now let´s talk about songs. Yes, I want to add a lot of them. During the first episode I wrote (although it is in Spanish), the one in Los Angeles, I added “Hear my voice” from the Louie´s Eleven episode, the Hungarian Rhapsody for the scene based on the Roger Rabbit film, “Ay Jalisco no te rajes” (the original song), “We are the Three Caballeros” from the House of Mouse and, obviously, or loved “The Three Caballeros” song. During the chapter where the Caballeros visit Chapala and Panchito´s family, I wanted to bring a scene where José asks about the large name and all Panchito´s family starts singing “My name is Panchito”. Also Baía, Blame it on the Samba and other songs will appear. I´m not sure about the ones from The Legend of the Three Caballeros.

Each episode would have a special character as protagonist. The Los Angeles will have Donald and his fight with Daffy, the Chapala one is obviously about Panchito and his family dynamic. We don´t need to have one location with one character, for example, when our heroes arrive to Rio we will have an important role with José and his comic characters, and also the Daisy-Donald reunion. Also in Bahia I wanted to have José as protagonist with Panchito. I don´t know if I explained correctly, but to put an example I´ll take Ducktales. One episode can be Scrooge-centered and the other Huey-centered. The same here.

After their crazy journey, the Caballeros continue their journey through other continents. They meet new cultures and characters. They go to South Africa, Kenya (I´m still debating myself if I want to include Zootopia here), Egypt (some Duck Avenger stuff in here), Jordania, Spain, France (chapter based on the Three Musketeers movie, and yes, they meet the Troubador), Greece (specifically they go to Ithaquack and meet Storkules and Xandra), Iran, Russia, India, China, Japan and other places. During this travel they finally discover something´s wrong and Felldrake is back. I´m specially interested on the Egypt episode, as I introduce Uno (Duck Avenger existed before the nephews were born, but Donald left that identity after the Selene incident). The France one is funny as it is a new adaptation of the musketeers movie. England is also funny as I want to write about Donald´s secret agent stuff. And in Japan they finally discover Felldrake and Sheldgoose are back. I don´t know how, but during this episode the Caballeros will become their superhero sonas (Duck Avenger, Morcego Verde and Gallo Loco) and meet this universes incarnation of the Justice Ducks and Fearsome Five (in this case six, as Daffy returns as Duck Dodgers).

There are some other travels after that fight, but just to wrap everything. Donald and Scrooge reconcile and the Caballeros & allies fight against Felldrake & allies. No spoilers because I´m not sure how exactly this can end.

I don´t know a lot about Kingdom Hearts, but I can add something. Also House of Mouse is canon and they have Bugs Bunny as guest character one time, with the a funny cartoon based on the first scene of the Looney Tunes Back in Action movie.

And yes, I thinks that is everything. I wanted to write this because I´m writing other fanfics (Dragon Knight, you can find an early version on fanfiction.net) and I´m not really motivated to write this. I just want to write this so the people can at least have an idea and know this exists.

btw hope you dont mind me asking but your art with drakson (with the warp coin) intrigues me... what is that au about? If you dont mind explaining it. It looks very interesting

I've been waiting for the moment I could talk about my au!! :]

Basically the au is positioned a few years in the future, Drakson is working as an assistant for Professor Fitz in his laboratory helping him in his studies with warp coins, by this time Drakson has a partner (which I still haven't decided who it will be) to which he plans to propose marriage after a long time.

One day before the marriage proposal occurs, his partner loses their life in a traffic accident, leaving Drakson in a deep state of despair and sadness, at that moment he can only think about how much he would like to turn back time to avoid the accident. , if only there were some alternate dimension in which this event had not yet happened, at this moment he realizes that it is possible for him to avoid the accident, he just has to go and steal one of the warp coins that the professor Fitz is using for his study.

One night he infiltrates the lab, disables the security system and steals the warp coin, but before he can use it Professor Fitz appears and warns him how dangerous it can be to alter timelines and how sorry he is that he has lost his loved one so suddenly, however, he fails to make Drakson reason and before he can do anything else, he manages to activate the warp coin and disappears, never to return to his original dimension.

Drakson appears in another dimension in which the accident has not happened yet and manages to save his partner from the accident by avoiding the accident, then he takes the place of the Drakson from this new dimension, getting rid of him and that's it, his plan came true.

But then he realizes how easy it is to manipulate events that he already knows will happen to his own advantage and begins to use the warp coin to travel between dimensions whenever he feels like it, altering and generating more and more alternate timelines, traveling to munchmore and stuff.

Meanwhile Xandra and Xolo as royal guardians of the warp coins begin to notice the strange activity that is occurring throughout the flipverse and decide to investigate what is happening, as soon as they realize that it is Drakson they begin to chase him to take him to the royal court of the kingdom of X where it will be decided how he will pay for his indiscriminate uses of the warp coins.

Before they can catch him, Drakson manages to escape and decides that he is going to frame someone else, then decides that he will find someone who is needing to use the warp coin to change the past, someone who is desperate enough to agree to use it despite the risks.

And that's how the warp coin comes into the hands of someone new who I still hasn't decided who it will be (but I was thinking of this person being Maggie who ends up being the mayor of Tacodale and it's very stressed and just wants to go back to the old days when she was a carefree girl)

The au more than anything is about the creation of a lot of different universes where there are a lot of things that have been altered thanks to Drakson, I know there are a lot of things that don't make sense I have a lot of work to do on everything 💀💀

I'm accepting any help, opinions or recomendations ^^ since I don't know too much about original lore of the games or how to make an au

Smaugust Day 9: Galaxy

I’m leaving tomorrow morning, my sister is going to look over the farm while I’m away. Echo Bel and Kory are coming with me, they can help with transportation and have separation anxiety. Xandra is showing me her camp, she has many followers, I’m going to be the first lizard to join it. That fact will be kept secret from the rest of the “humans” as to not cause hysteria, she has done the same with herself, hiding herself as an amphibian. I’m bringing my journal, I need to be able to write my thoughts

*we find out who the narrator is 👀. Another first person written segment, hopefully this one won’t be as long XD. Also, if by the end of Smaugust I feel there are some odd unintended plot holes or threads that need to be resolved I’ll make sure to do so. Ik it’s confusing right now, but I will continue right where we left off on the last writing segment for easiness*

“Please do explain what you mean by non-lizard kind though… Are you talking Amphibious sentience?” I ask, leaning back on the couch I had been placed on.

“No not sentient Amphibians that walk like us, I mean a species on another planet called Humans. They are a scaleless race with no tails, and can grow fur at an alarming rate. They can be dangerous to us, but not all of them. If you join me you can meet them, but many of them do not have the best interests of the dragons in mind.” Her creature tightened itself onto her neck. Has it experienced these “humans” before?

“Does that planet have dragons too? Also how do you, uh, go to another planet? Do you have access to a rocket?”

“No, I have something much better and easier to fuel… but you have to commit before learning of that. Keep your questions to a minimum till I finish explaining please, it will be easier.” Saying with a small hand wave. I nob in agreement.

“The planet is called earth and is very similar to ours. But dragons do not live naturally there, and have been brought there by a lizard who wanted a new environment for sport hunting, and didn’t get them all… They ended up breeding and creating homes for themselves, few and far apart. I used to monitor and catch some of the dragons to bring them back when I could along with my brother. When he passed I couldn’t do it by myself anymore, so I seeked the assistance of other lizards to return the dragons to their natural habitat. Not many believed me, and those who did I knew didn’t have the intentions of the animals in mind. So, I decided to start recruiting humans using my magic-“

“Wait wait wait, you have magic abilities?” I ask, needing to know more about this.

“Yes I possess magic, I’m no lizard, but we don’t need to know about that for now. All you need to know is that I can give objects the ability to transform a human into a lizard or amphibian sentient if worn, that’s what I can do,” Xandra says with a sigh. I speculate what she could be, and remember a legend about the creation of our world, something similar to that happening, where a being gave sentience to all of the lizards, and later some of the amphibians. There was another part of it where they wiped out a different race beforehand but I couldn’t remember it too well.

Xandra continued her explanation, “I chose humans because they would do the best capturing dragons in the human planet, since they are not killed on sight when seen… The humans I choose were specifically selected by my familiar, Davey here,” She pointed to the amphibian around her neck, it seemed to smile in admiration of its role.

“They are small enough to avoid detection from the humans, and not popular enough to be sought out, and they are very fast. Easily able to escape a human. I’ve gotten quite the following from animal lovers around earth, and luckily most of them speak English or know sign language, Davey doesn’t go far from our camp.”

“What do you guys Uh, do? Do you go to the human world and just, catch the dragons? And why don’t you just tell the humans that the dragons are an invasive species and, I guess take them back?” I ask, confused what I would actually be doing and why the humans are a problem.

Xandra’s calm demeanor shifted, and her eyebrows furrowed, “Most humans want the dragons, but I know they aren’t safe there. They would be hunted for sport and put in cages. I’ve watched them for thousands of years, they will never accept the dragons as any more then a fantasy creature for decoration. And for some reason now there are more being found, species that weren’t brought to earth from that initial leak. There’s another source, someone from this planet that has access to Earth and is exploiting it to bring dragons there. You can help me find them, and allow me to have more allies on this side. Plus the place I’m keeping the dragons isn’t safe anymore, I need somewhere here I can put them with someone to take care of them.” Her voice had raised slightly, this is a subject she is angry about. She must have witness terrible things. I think it’s an amazing idea, I have the whole farm I could keep the dragons. Acres of land I’m not using right now could be put to this. I didn’t care if she was legit or not, I believed her.

“Ok, I’m convinced… I want to help. I have a farm that can serve as a holding place for the dragons until we can bring them to their rightful places,” I say, trying to hide the excitement in my voice. She smiles at me, looking satisfied.

“My camp, it is all humans, they do not know of our reptilian existence, to them they are the last of the reptile kind. So to them, your just another new human recruit. That means,” Xandra gets up, walking towards the closet I had noticed before, “that means that you have to pick out an accessory to simulate the effect of you being a fake lizard.”

I stand up and walk to the closet as well. Xandra escapes into the inside of it, I follow closely. The inside wasn’t meant to hold more then one person, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Along the walls is an array of shirts, jackets, pants, hats, bracelets, necklaces, etc. in every color imaginable.

“Take your pick, it doesn’t matter what it is, other then u will need to be able to wear it for long amounts of time,” she says, picking up a hat and dusting it off, then hanging it back up.

I look around the room, spinning in place, then think of something, “Do you have a piece? How do you hide that your not a lizard?”

She thinks for moment, “Davey helps me with that too, as you know they are my familiar, and they aren’t just any normal dragon either. They become a wonderful necklace whenever I need them to. And when I wear that, I become what they would be if they were a sentient Amphibian,” she explained to me. So far she has shown me no proof of the magic she claims to have, and this seems like a simple test. Even if I was all for the cause, no reason not to speculate.

“Could u show me?”

“Of course,” Xandra said, glancing at Davey. The creature climbed to the front of her neck, then sitting still right there for a few seconds. I await the transformation. Then, they stiffen and fall loose, a small chain connecting to their mouth and tail holding them onto Xandra’s neck. Her body poofs into one of an sentient Olm, her body much longer then previously. I stare up at her in awe, it all must be true.

“Wow…” I say, stunned by the display. She smiles down at me and quickly exits the closet, since she had taken up most the room.

“I need to show u our transportation tomorrow, since it is getting late. You will be seeing the camp, and meeting the members. You may stay for a couple of days to get familiar with them,” she says, looking out the window. I understand her reasoning, my sister can watch over the farm while I’m gone, I’ll be returning there soon with suitable dragons.

I return to looking at the room and behind a puffy jacket is a bronze glimmer. I walk towards it and grab it, it’s a tail ring. A dragon spiraling around a few times. And it’s adjustable, I try it on, tightening it to my liking. I decide it would be to heavy to stay on, and I don’t really like these kinds of jewelry. Placing it back in it’s spot, I try on a few other things, including a puffy jacket(after taking my shoulder armor off), a muzzle, and a necklace with an odd diamond like pendant on it. Then another thing caught my eye, a blue bandana with a cool looking pattern on it. I tie it around my neck, I think this one will work very well.

Exiting the room I look around for Xandra, spotting her on the couch reading a book. Davey was wrapped around her wrist and she was back in her original state.

“I have chosen this bandana!” I announce, walking towards her. She looks up from her reading and smiles brightly.

“Oh wonderful sweet pea, I only ask one more question of you before you go home to rest up for tomorrow,” she says, putting her book down.

“What’s that?” I ask, holding my shoulder armor tightly.

“What’s your name?”

“Oh- oh yeah you don’t know me very well yet. I’m Niki,” I say with a smile. She smiles back at me.

“Thank you hun. One more thing though, if you have any drakes I would recommend you bring them with you, they would help with the travel aspect. Tomorrow won’t be a walk in the park,” she says, picking her book back up. I nod, looking to my left and realizing the door is right next to the couch. I mentally scorn myself for not realizing this sooner, and exit the house. I know these woods, and have seen this cottage before. It looks worn down on the outside, abandoned… but making my way home is easy. It was evening by the time I made it back.

I call my sister, “Hi Bryn, I need you to watch the farm for a few days.”

This was fun, writing wasn’t the best, I was kinda zoned out while writing it lol. My main focus was to explain stuff and set up character motivations, sorry if it’s a bit messy, and like, long dang.

suddenly i have never read or watched anything in my life... i care about theo from the goldfinch a lot, by that i mean i dislike him and i will make mean jokes about him and his gay dog. so basically the book is about him getting in trouble for smoking with some guy, his mom takes him to the met but she dies in a explosion. at this point he steals a dutch painting, the goldfinch, for no apparent reason and then goes home until he gets cps called on him i guess. he goes to live with a rich family, the barbours. he has a friend around his age, andy, but there's also a younger sister (kitsey) and a rebellious older brother (platt). there might also be a younger brother but he's kind of irrelevant.

in the explosion he watched an old man give him a family ring then die, so he goes at this antiques(?) shop where he meets another old man (hobie) and a teenage girl (pippa), who was also traumatized by the explosion. hobie shows him the shop and he really enjoys working on the old furniture!

all is good and well in new york until his father, who left ages ago (he was an alcoholic), magically shows up one day with his new gf xandra to pick him up and bring him to las vegas. that's where the "vegas chapters" start. theo still has the painting with him at this point. when he leaves for the airport in a taxi, he says (since he's the narrator) more or less that he is going to miss the people who worked in the building where he lived with his mom, but that saying it out loud would be "gay". he's 13.

so he arrives in las vegas his father and xandra have a dog, popper (he is very important, not so much to the story but to me because i love him). he goes to high school when he meets boris in a class discussion about thoreau. boris is "one of the great friends of his life" (he will not have any other friends apart from maybe his dealer or his comphet crush). they hang out in empty pools skip school drink smoke shoplift etc etc. boris has travelled a lot around the world, he speaks many languages. he nicknames popper popchyk and even though theo thinks he looks "gay" they take him with them when they're out because they pity him. everything is fun theo writes letters to pippa (i don't think she answers) and to hobie (when hobie answers boris calls him a "poofter" and then is like it doesn't even matter, if he likes you) he still has the painting with him. at some point they're hanging out at boris's house his father comes home too early and theo makes a run for it with the dog while boris buys him time (he gets beaten up).

during the vegas chapters we see theo's father actually has a gambling addiction, he pretends to have quit drinking but he still drinks, and he's addicted to vicodin. xandra also does coke. theo never notices this until boris points it out to him. speaking of boris he gets a girlfriend, kotku (that's her nickname not her actual name but theo refuses to remember it). she's eighteen, kind of shady, gets into fights a lot. theo really really hates her because he gets very jealous, and while he is ranting to us about how much he misses hanging out with boris and having his undivided attention, he casually mentions that 1. boris would hold him at night when he had nightmares until he calmed down (awww, sweet) and 2. that they also hooked up many times but that he "doesn't remember it", and that they never talked about it because it would have meant idk thinking about some things. meanwhile the father keeps on gambling and he has a thing with astrology for some reason? he tries to use theo to take money from his college fund but it fails. a man visits theo at home and tells him his father is in trouble. boris and theo do acid. the father crashes his car and dies. theo wants to leave immediately because he doesn't want to stay live with xandra, so he decides to go back to new york with boris and popchyk. boris really wants him to wait but theo has to leave. just before he takes the taxi with the painting and popchyk in his bag, boris kisses him and runs away. leading to the infamous "which was of course i love you" (theo goes omg i'm so glad i was rambling because if not i would clearly have confessed my love for my best friend! is that taxi driver going to think i'm gay now).

after a very long bus ride he arrives at hobie's shop where he essentially stays for the next twelve(?) years. he starts working there, and to pay the bills he does forgeries of old furniture. he thinks he's in love with pippa, who sometimes visits. he's addicted to various drugs and sometimes he goes to the closet/storage unit he's renting to do more drugs and hold his painting. one day he runs into platt (rebellious older brother) on the street, who tells him that his dad and andy died on a boat accident. theo visits ms barbour who is very happy to see him and after a while he gets engaged to her daughter, kitsey (because it makes ms barbour happy!). there is a client who starts to call him out on his forgeries because he thinks hobie is also involved, he also seems to know theo has the goldfinch and is apparently "using" it (in illegal transactions). the whole forgery thing makes theo worried, but he doesn't care about the painting because he is sure it's safe. then he is out doing whatever at some point and he sees kitsey his fiancée kitsey having a romantic moment with... the guy from the very beginning! the cigarette guy! then he "runs into" boris. they are very happy to reunite, although boris seems surprised theo wasn't looking for him and he keeps saying he's sorry. apparently he's a criminal now. they talk a lot before that but boris ends up confessing he stole the painting all those years ago, because theo showed it to him a night when he was blackout drunk and boris just "wanted to have it". this is why the client knows about it being used in transactions, and why boris was so reluctant to leave vegas (he would have ended up giving it back but he didn't have the time). theo runs to the storage unit where he takes the "painting" out of its wrapping for the first time (in literal years! he never bothered looking at it!) and it's a civics textbook.

i don't remember really well what happens here after because i haven't read the book in a while. theo and pippa talk a bit and pippa says she loves him, but they're way too similar for it to work out: if one of them went down they would take the other down in the process, or something like that. i think she just wants to be left alone at this point she's in a happy relationship away from new york. theo has an engagement party for him and kitsey, boris crashes it, and they leave for amsterdam to get the painting back. during this process (longer in the book than in the movie, i don't remember it very well), they get ambushed, boris gets shot in the arm and theo kills someone in self-defense. they don't get the painting back. theo feels incredibly guilty about this and tries to kill himself (i think? i don't remember if this is only in the movie) with, among other things, the drugs boris brought him. anyway he is about to do something incredibly stupid and boris stops him. he sees his mom at some point. after that, all of his problems are apparently solved (no more financial problems in the shop, the annoying client situation gets resolved, he doesn't break off his engagement because it would make kitsey's mother feel sad, they call the police on the people who stole the goldfinch and it's returned to the museum), boris makes him eat breakfast, theo gives us an entire speech on his existential revelations, including "what if your mind tells you to lead a life of self-destruction what if your mind wants things that are bad for you. is it better to cover your eyes and do nothing or to just do whatever you want. like boris?" and the book ends there!
