out of the big 4 het/canon fairy tail pairings jerza is by Far the worst imo like. he needs to leave her alone i'm so serious and the fact that mashima wrote in a 7 year age gap for no reason is Not helping... erzas ass is NINETEEN the first time jellal makes an open pass at her i don't care that they used to be the same age it is fucking weird. gruvia is a close second though because while yes we objectify men here sir and i live to serve women juvia's creepiness is really just too much like at a certain point it starts to feel really gross and the fact that gray seems to fall for her by the end of the anime/manga just reeks of coercion. not even bringing up how genuinely awful juvia's character writing is she gets like 5 minutes of being interesting before getting instantly reduced to a creepy stan who completely revolves around gray and has less depth than the average bossfight of the week. i guess its equality that erza and mirajane are some of the best characters in this story (which is admittedly a low bar considering half of their personality is being subjected to the most voyeuristic shots possible) so mashima had to balance it out by making juvia one of the worst

#the other two pairings nalu and gajevy are honestly fine. i'm more pilled on gratsu and lucana or luli but gajevy is actually a decently #sweet redemption relationship if you forget that gajeel was genuinely the worst person alive in his villain arc before mashima decided to #fast track him to the most likable character in the show.#on top of that while gajeel and levy become a Unit pretty fast after tenrou island they do still have like #unique personalities and things about them that help them stand apart from the other. unlike juvia with gray.#nalu might not be my pairing of choice for either natsu or lucy or even my favorite big 4 pairing but it is pretty good. i really don't hav #any notes they have their own personalities and have chemistry. i think they're sweet together. they work fine.#the moral of the story is don't read or watch fairy tail it's just shittier one piece #tender age of 11 and it gave me incurable brain fungus and now i live in my wonderful little made up world where everyone in fairy tail is #gay and trans and the women aren't treated like meat half the time. this is my trash of choice and my defining character sin dont be like m #but if you're that curious read the manga the anime is insanely drawn out #and the animation is aaaawful #the only reason im watching it is as background noise for when i work #im gonna tag this as #fairy tail #for people who want to blacklist #in the future

Transmasc Elfman and transfemme Lisanna. They traded clothes as kids before Elfman's growth spurt.

One day when he was a kid, Gajeel woke up to a giant ass centipede crawling on his face and has been creeped out by them ever since. It's kill on sight. He doesn't care how many holes he puts into the walls and floors, he ain't stopping until the damn thing is dead. You'll hear the sudden sound of destruction, walk into a room that looks like a stampede ran through it, and Gajeel will be standing there with a straight face and say, "I'm fine, it's dead now." (Sorta inspired by that one Archer scene in the first episode of Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works abridged)

Okay, I know the manga has the little bio cards of the guild members and Droy's says he's afraid of spiders, but I've elected to ignore that. Spiders are friends and welcomed in his gardens and greenhouses any day. He loves watching them weave webs. I can see him getting a tarantula. JET is the one with arachnophobia. The screeching on top of a table and running a mile away kind.

Gajeel with prosthetic hands is my FAVORITE headcanon I’ve ever had but there’s just something so personal about gajeel the metal dragon being represented as strong while having prosthetics this idea was originally from my trans groupchat fic but Gajeel being a gremlin with his metal hands (putting his cold hands on his friends necks and slapping people that piss him off a little too hard with his hands)

Just gajeel with prosthetics would be SO cool even in a modern or magic au like he could reinforce his hands with metal and knock the shit outta someone and he could make his hands bigger by layering metal that would be SO cool or in a modern setting he’s constantly hiding the hand warmers in his pockets and he’s always way too good with his hands

Like steals your stuff jokingly type of friend and holds it infront of you like “ you dropped this “ idfk I love gajeel being a gremlin and I also love to explore hcs and things

- as I said gajeel is nonbinary in a masc way. I don't this Metallica gave a single fuck about gender so gajeel didn't know what it was until he showed up in civilization. Uses he/him but could not care less. All pronouns kind of guy.

- Natsu is a similar but because igneel was a guy Natsu wanted to be to, and he wants to be just like his dad

- I feel like Fried (Freed? It's been like 4 years since the fairy tail hyperfixation) is bigender

- speaking of laxus' crew the knight guy with the souls. Agender. His name escapes me.

- gray is transmasc I make the rules. He and Lyon are both transmasc. They saw each other on galuna Island and mutually understood each other through their twisted siblingesque relationship that they were both men now but they all had bigger problems to content with

- I could see laxus as transfem. But so deeply in the closet it would be physically impossible for him to leave or externalize it. Because it's laxus

I truly believe Hiro Mashima accidentally made so many characters queer or trans coded.

Rogue is my main one for the trans hc. His name used to be Ryos, he changed it because he disliked it's meaning, and when Gajeel calls him "Ryos" he asks to be called Rogue as he prefers the name. It sounds like someone who is trans/non-binary talking to a relative they haven't seen in a long time, which is the dynamic between him and Gajeel. (I understand they're sworn brothers, meaning that they're just very close / were very close, but the way Gajeel speaks about it reads as a siblingship that was... NOT the best.) This along with how he refers to Sting as his light in some sort of way really is... You know.

In 100 Years Quest, Sorano hits on Sting, hugging his arm, etc and he seems totally unfazed. Which, sure, he can just not be interested, but when she teases him about liking Yukino or Minerva, he says he's only interested in Natsu. And that one official art by Hiro Mashima where Sting is looking at Rogue's crotch which has NO het explanation.

Kagura and Erza exist. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Wendy and Chelia/Sherria ALSO have something there, with their scenes of having the same element and Wendy joining Lamia Scale after Fairy Tail disbanded to be with Sherria. They became the Sky Sisters, a duo, and we know how duos work (like the Twin Dragons. I Know What You Are.). And when Wendy leaves Lamia Scale, we get this borderline shoujo anime scene with a sunset in the back, saying that they'll always love each other/be friends, and touch foreheads while holding hands. Nothing about that reads as "just girly things" to me dude!! Along with that, Sherria gives up her magic to save Wendy (and Carla).

The only intentional ones are either stereotypes (Master Bob, who I support.) or Freed. And probably Kagura all things considered.
