Kin all the Same, Prologue: How Dagur Became a Dad (wip)

CW: Blood, mild gore, minor character death, graphic depictions of violence

Blood splattered against nearby walls and gushed over a, previously, light brown tunic. Stained all that it touched a deep crimson. Frantic, trembling hands clutched at a now maimed throat. Tried futility to hold the severed layers of skin and muscle together, as though that would do something. As though blood wasn't already pouring into gasping lungs.

The man stumbles back. He's coughing and gagging, trying desperately to suck in a clear breath. His face is contorted with pain and terror as he trips over his own feet, falling backwards and taking a nearby table down with him. The man hits the wooden floor like a falling boulder, and doesn't move afterwards.

Well, not to get up, at least.

Blood trickles down his neck and begins forming a puddle beneath the man's head. Wet gasping sounds fill the room. Mere background noise to the explosions and screams and hearty laughs outside. Moonlight and flames mix, casting an orange and yellow and silver gleam across whatever it reaches. Making the growing pool of crimson shine in an almost ethereal manner.

Dagur sighs heavily through his nose, brows knitted together in a deep frown. Growing irritated by the choked sounds and the pleading look in those oak colored eyes, he raises his axe. "No hard feelings, right?" He mutters, the question completely rhetorical. He doesn't even bother giving the man a chance to answer, knowing he can't anyway. Just slams the axe down, severing a head that was already turning some interesting colors due to oxygen deprivation from the rest of the body.

The man twitches once, twice, then goes still. His eyes blink rapidly and his mouth gapes open and closed like a fish out of water. Dagur has seen this too many times to be concerned. The fellow viking is already dead. Dagur makes a face and pulls his axe from where it had stuck into the wooden floor, tapping his foot impatiently. In less than a minute, the decapitated head goes still. Oak colored eyes remain wide and locked on Dagur's face. The redhead grimaces slightly and kneels down, uncaring of the blood now soaking into his trousers. In a delicate manner most would never imagine the Berserker to be capable of, Dagur closes the man's eyes. Mostly because that glassy, dead gaze staring straight into his soul made him uncomfortable. That's what he tells himself, at least.

Dagur stands and physically shakes himself off. There was something about those after death twitches and convulsions that always made him feel… Well, odd, to say the least. Not exactly uncomfortable or guilty, but it certainly wasn't a pleasant feeling. Regardless, the redhead continues through the house. Searching through drawers and closets and anywhere else someone might keep their valuables. He's in his own world as he raids the home. Going from room to room in an almost daze-like state, passively listening to the chaos outside. Flinching, despite himself, whenever a dragon roared.

This village is - was - pretty small to begin with. But they were allies with Hiccup, and Dagur wanted to hit the brunette where it hurt. The dragon trainer would hate learning so many vikings and beasts alike had been killed because of him.

Dagur sighs to himself and opens up the door to the master bedroom. He half heartedly glanced around, before noticing a large, very detailed painting. It's hanging up on the wall opposite of the bed, and on a desk in front of it seems to be a shrine of sorts. Flowers and some jewelry, including what looks like a betrothal gift.

The painting itself depicts a young woman. She has bright green eyes and deep, reddish-brown colored hair. Her hair is long and curly, following the curve of her chest and shoulders as it hangs down freely. Her face is dotted with freckles, and her skin tone is warm. She's wearing a bright red, off the shoulder dress. Dagur can tell, even through the paint and canvas, that this woman was absolutely beautiful. The background of the painting is a simple cliffside with the ocean and stormy clouds. The soft, cool colors complementing the palpable warmth of the woman

Dagur nods to himself as he admires the painting. So absorbed in his own little world, so lost in his mind as he observes the shrine, that it takes soft babbling to draw his attention to the crib in the room.

Let's Go Johto Concepts

I figure since I potentially only have a month left to share these, I might as well share my concepts for what the original characters to a Let's Go Johto could potentially be. If someone wants to draw them, I wouldn't say no, but I really don't expect that to happen.

Kenny: The male player character, whose name comes from "kin," meaning "gold" in Japanese. Blond with brown eyes, wears a red-and-yellow sweatshirt, black pants, and a red-and-yellow hat. Basically styled after a Fast Ball. Depending on the version, he receives an Elekid or a Magby. As an NPC, however, he starts with a Tyrogue, which ultimately becomes a Hitmontop.

Ginny: The female player character, with her name coming from "gin," meaning "silver." Ash-colored pigtailed hair and gray eyes, she wears a red jacket, black shirt, and blue overalls. Her hat is a teal skull cap with a small red bow. Once again, her starter is Elekid or Magby depending on the version, but Tyrogue/Hitmontop as an NPC.

Final Team (Either): Hitmontop/Bellossom/Mega Beedrill/Kingdra/Raichu/Houndoom

Russ: The friendly rival of the game, with his name coming from "rust." Spiky orange hair and green eyes, he wears a black t-shirt and brown pants. He's confident in his friendship with his Eevee, but he unknowingly forces his ideals of strength on it and his other Pokemon, and so it doesn't evolve until some time after a devastating loss to Silver, at which point it becomes an Umbreon. Aside from that, he adopts Professor Elm's Magby/Elekid into his team after it escapes the lab to follow its counterpart.

Final Team: Umbreon/Magmar or Electabuzz/Ampharos or Arcanine/Crobat/Blissey/Mega Alakazam

Suzu: The antagonistic rival of the game, and the first Trainer the player battles, her name literally means "bell." Blue hair in a hime-style cut, wearing a school uniform-style outfit. An apprentice Kimono Girl, she thinks herself destined to bring the Legendary Pokemon back to Ecruteak, and refuses to believe they could be the one to do it instead. She uses an Eevee as her main battler, which evolves into Espeon over the course of the game.

Final Team: Espeon/Ninetales/Magneton/Noctowl/Donphan/Mega Gengar

Aside from that, you encounter Raikou or Entei upon leaving Mr. Pokemon's house, causing Togepi to hatch right away. Togepi is a Partner Pokemon, with increased stats, and is scripted to evolve in a brief cutscene just before fighting Archer. The Pokemon recognizes you at the Burned Tower, causing Suicune to become interested in you too, and ultimately the last Beast. You catch Raikou/Entei at the Bell Tower, Suicune on Route 25, and Entei/Raikou roams Johto once it escapes the Burned Tower, but its cry sounds out once you enter the route it's currently on (accompanied by a "!" over the player's head), and all you have to do is get it to spawn.

Catching all three Legendary Beasts and showing them to Suzu earns you the Rainbow Wing, which you can of course use to encounter Ho-oh. Just as in Crystal, the old man in Pewter gives you the Silver Wing, unlocking Lugia.

Russ battles you in New Bark Town after he adds the runaway Pokemon to his team, Azalea Town after beating Bugsy, the Burned Tower upon entering for the first time, Goldenrod Tunnel after entering the Warehouse, Victory Road at the very end, and Mt. Moon upon entering. After that, he can be rematched at Indigo Plateau.

Suzu battles you in Cherrygrove City on the way back from Mr. Pokemon's house, Azalea Town after Team Rocket is defeated, Ecruteak City after beating the Rocket harassing the Kimono Girl, Goldenrod Tunnel before unlocking the Warehouse door, Bellchime Trail after catching Raikou/Entei, and Cerulean City after catching Suicune. After that, she can be rematched in the Ecruteak Theater.

Effectively, Silver's battles are divided up between Russ and Suzu, but Silver himself plays a role in the story. He's generally the one to teach the player's Togepi/Togetic Secret Techniques, namely Chop Down, Sea Skim, and Whirl Ride (the replacement for Whirlpool). Chuck's wife gives the player a Sky Dash machine, the toughness-obsesed Sailor in Olivine's Cafe teaches Strong Push, the Elder of course teaches you Light Up, you get taught Break Rocks (Rock Smash) after catching Sudowoodo, the guy in Ilex Forest teaches Ram Head (Headbutt), and Silver teaches you Falls Climb (Waterfall) once you reach Tohjo falls, but not before you defeat him in a battle.

Lyra reprises her role as your neighbor and the Day-Care Couple's granddaughter. Her role is largely the same as in HGSS, but you can battle her once per day on Route 34 after defeating Blue. Kris appears with Professor Oak at Mr. Pokemon's house, and after getting permission to go to Mt. Silver, she arrives back at Oak's lab, where she can be challenged once per day. You have to defeat her at least once to unlock Ethan, who can then be fought at the base of Mt. Silver, after which he tells you about Red, whom he's apparently been training with.

Green guards the entrance to Cerulean Cave, as well as the recently released Mewtwo, who she reveals saved the people and Pokemon on Cinnabar Island a year ago. She battles you with her team from LGPE.

Blue is of course the Viridian Gym Leader, battling you with his LGPE team.

Chase and Elaine can be battled in Pallet Town. Chase uses Pikachu, the Kanto starters, Hitmonlee, and Kabutops, while Elaine uses Eevee, the Kanto Eeveelutions, Hitmonchan, and Omastar.

Trace can be found in Lavender Town, helping out Mr. Fuji. He uses his Let's Go Eevee team, meaning Raichu, because Elaine is using Jolteon as part of her team.

Red is atop Mt. Silver, just like always. Like Blue and Green, he reprises his LGPE team.

Hi, I'm Ethan/"Gold" (from Pokémon), I'm looking for my Silver. My canon is a mix of the gameverse AND pokéspe both in events and how I'd act !

My father was Galarian and mama had been born and raised in Johto her entire life. She's always been really sweet !

My starter was Cyndaquil, I nicknamed him "Buddy" !! Which stuck for as long as I'd have him, even if I started the gym challenge when I was ~13.

Tbh I'm 99.9% sure I was a gay demiboy. I knew I was a dude but was I a man? Gender was Weird and so was orientation and I only got that solidly figured it out as "boy(ish) and I like kissing men" AFTER the gym challenge. Like I don't have time to think abt if I like kissing chicks or dudes or if I Am a dude rn I gotta get Buddy to lv70 before the next gym /lh (part of that repression waa Johto being a 50/50 on "for gays are fine" and "I don't like the gays" :sob)

I had pretty-much black hair, tanned skin from bein' out in the sun so often, and gold eyes ! That's how I got "Trainer Gold" as a nickname, and I gave Silver his eyes where grey (at first it was a tease and then it became Gay). I was layered up a lot, since Johto was costal and chilly, so for a lot of my journey it was the grey hoodie, my orange windbreaker, or both ! And the ultraball hat. Never left ANYWHERE without the thing.

I was a trickster for a lot of my journey. A very competitive trickster and taunted HARD when I was confident that a match was easy for me to plow through... to my own detriment but yk !!!!!!

me and my Silver where together romantically in my canon, I asked him to be my boyfriend during a totally-not-a-date thing at a cafe I wanted us to go to. He asked me if I was joking after, I was nott :3 This was post-gym challenge and after I did my thing.

Silvy lived in a apartment in Cherrygrove after the challenge, and I visited as often as I could; nearly every day since I still lived in New Bark. And when I wouldn't visit, I'd drag him out for walks and casual battles-

He kicked my ass a few times during the challenge !!! But it was mainly on me Staring at him.

Anyways that's a Lot of information already, if ya THINK you might be a canonmate of mine (idm at all) I'm @ashacidic !! I'm an older teen, and I'd prefer 17+ interacted with me for kin reasons. Doubles are fine too, power in numbers yk ? 💪

NAME: The 3 Daggers 

LOCATION: Gatlin Fields

From the outside, this rundown barn with fences lined with iron, silver, and religious iconography doesn’t look like much. Most never even give the barn in the distance a second look let alone venture down the dirt road that leads to it. As such, it’s a perfect little bar and lounge for the community of hunters that have made Wicked’s Rest their home or stop for a hunt. Once inside the old barn, hunters are greeted to a rustic and old school bar filled with antlers though not of the deer, elk, or moose variety. No one is sure how the owner managed to get sianach antlers mounted over the stone fireplace, but they’re always a conversation starter. Only confirmed hunters are allowed to visit the bar, typically only upon invite from one of the club’s members. Despite this, sometimes confusion causes hunters of the non-supernatural variety to stumble in and end up sharing a pint with their supernatural kin. Some of the supernatural hunters are amiable enough to let the occasional normie stick around, thinking they won’t believe any of the bar’s chatter; others consider it a serious and risky breach.

The owner, Mark Stanson, comes from a long line of rangers and many of his siblings act as trainers at many hunter camps across the northeast. Never having been much of a teacher, Mark decided to serve his community of hunters in a different way, by giving them their own safe haven in the midst of a supernatural hotspot. 

Most of the hunters who frequent this bar tend to be on the old school side of things and try to keep the supernatural hidden at all costs. It’s rare to get the location of the bar without a previous connection to a regular patron or the Stansons. 

It’s a great spot for hunters to pick up odd jobs as there are usually several bounties listed on the bulletin board in the lounge. Some are from hunters out of town or those with supernatural enemies, but some are just small jobs listed on local forums that seem suspiciously supernatural. Flappin’ Flann’s bounty has been there for years to no avail.

While the bar is full, all the beers are bottles or cans and there’s not much in the way of top-shelf varieties. That suits most of the patrons just fine. 

According to the bar’s Spotify profile data, the bar is in the top 1% of Cher’s Spotify listeners. 

There’s a dart board in the bar and there are darts available behind the bar, however, most of the patrons use it as a knife throwing target board which has led to more than an injury or two during drinking games.

Grimsley- purrloin. It was a gift from his parents that he had for a long time before starting his journey. Her name was Silver

Volo- his is a weird technicality. Technically the first Pokémon he ever met and bonded with was Giratina, but from a trainer perspective, his starter was a togepi. Her name is Pecha

Wallace- a luvdisc! He remembers having her since he was a child while he was learning how to do Sootopolis Things:tm:

Arven- Mabosstiff (kind of obvious). Oddly enough he can’t remember if he raised him from a Maschiff or if he was always a Mabosstiff.

As for kin answers!

Corrin- from a region that isn’t canon, but I like the story so! Me and my twin brother both had lunecanpys! They’re little space/moon themed wolves. And me and my brother got a brother and sister lunecanpy from the same pack!

I could see the twins becoming coordinators, since Saeyoung is flashy and eccentric, and Saeran prefers the emphasis on beauty & skill instead of just knocking your opponent out. Plus, when your evil dad is the Champion, it's hard to register for the Pokemon League without risking your safety....

I could see V as an archaeologist in like, Sinnoh. We know he loves digging up secrets and investigating! But he could also be a photographer who works for a professor. Who do you think gets all those crisp photos for the Pokedex?

Rika... Would she rule the region's evil team? Or is she a case like N, who's not actually evil but being manipulated into thinking she's doing the right thing?

All I know is that Unknown, specifically, kins Silver and he's not ready for that discussion.

VERSE DUMP 02;   here listed are the verses that are intricately tied to the mainline games spanning gen 1 to gen 9. these are short descriptions for each gen for the ease of interaction & summary of the events within & shea’s association with each. certain games will have a more in-depth verse post at a later date, such as gen 4. by default, shea masquerades as a human child & a traveler unless her origins are revealed by herself or against her will by those connected to cyrus or volo. for the most part, shea acts on the behalf of arceus to check & care for the various legendary & mystical pokemon throughout the regions. her priority will always be the safety of said pokemon. unlike her sinnoh kin, however, she is not directly related to the mythical & legendary pokemon in the other regions.

a boon from the creator themselves, arceus; shea travels to the kanto region feeling unease about their fellow mythical mew. a creature that hadn’t been seen for centuries, being sighted & even worse pursued. shea arrives sometime before the events of the game & keeps themselves hidden as she researches the destruction of the lab on cinnabar island. after word reaches that a young trainer has been taking down members of team rocket, shea decides to stick her nose where it doesn’t belong hoping that this young trainer will lead them to mew--- discovering the origins of mewtwo.

on her way back toward her home within the sinnoh region, shea travels through johto & finds herself once again wrapped up in someone else’s business. meeting crystal & finding herself in quite the dilemma for if this young trainer found out about shea’s origins--- well, she’d be trapped in a professors lab for sure ! fortunately the return of team rocket in search of their fearless leader tends to put priority on matters as regions legendaries wake up causing shea to rush to their aid as one of their own. this verse is highly influenced by @starmarkcd @unmcsked & @gxldenstreak who are canon to shea as the trainers; Crys / Silver / Gold respectfully.

once more shea travels to a region outside her own, this time in peril as a sixth sense compels her to rush to hoenn in time for team aqua & team magma to purposefully disturb the rest of both kyogre & groudon. joining the young trainer(s) climbing the rank of the gym challenge of the region, she aims to calm down the legendary titans who helped formed the earth & sea before it’s too late--- && find those responsible to deal with them before it’s too late, for no doubt the sky dragon is soon to approach.

sinnoh, the home of shea & her brethren. no longer called the hisui region--- shea lives primarily in the flower paradise with the other shaymin. however her ancient adventures have left a impact that she has yet to understand the gravity of. the people of sinnoh speak in their legends of a child of space & time that transcends dimensions, capable of controlling the legendary beasts of creation. while the reality is far from; shea a child born from arceus themselves the myth remains drawing the attention of two major players within sinnoh: cynthia, a celestial descendant of volo, & cyrus. no fool, cyrus is quicker to unravel the truth about this ‘child of space time’ & moves toward the flower paradise with a red chain in tow to capture shea & use her to summon the creation trio so that he may use them to create his new world.... **this verse will have an expanded post of which will be linked here when finished.

xerneas & shea are no stranger to each other; as shaymin are often found near the tree of life, the beastie itself visiting the flower paradise within sinnoh at times. it is in fact a visit from shea to the forests of kalos of which starts their journey into worry for her friend & it’s counterpart. however shea only finds a collection of zygarde cells & cores, tipping her off to a much bigger problem at hand. knowing exactly who to turn to for help, shea seeks out the descendant of a old friend in the form of serena, a young trainer who’s destiny is intertwined with the legendaries of life & death.  this verse is highly influenced by @iruludavare

alola ! shea decides she wants to see the ocean. a different ocean than one near the flower paradise & with a hankering for some malasadas--- of she goes to the island region ! however midway into her little adventure she runs into scientists of the aether foundation, who’s various scientific instruments out shea’s origins as a human-pokemon chimera & capture her to bring her to the president herself; lusamine. narrowly escaping being contained to be “protected” shea spends her time thereafter running from aether workers tasked on retrieving her.

the slumbering weald is home to the heroes of the darkest day & sometimes it is visited by a wandering shea; visiting to help shaymin bring the change of seasons to the forest & care for the altar where the heroes rest. however on one journey out to the weald she notices the absence of the hero duo & turns her attention outside the weald curious as to what caused the beasties to stir from their slumber & if there is a new threat to the world on the horizon.

dialga finds itself irritable, upset, & even sick--- a sign of time distortion forced by human hand somewhere in the world. as shea cares for her sibling her worries for their health & well being grows as dialga shows signs of it’s primal rage returning in it’s mysterious illness. asking the trio of the lake to stand & care for the deity of time as shea travels outside of sinnoh toward the paldea region after consulting with giratina if there are any distortions in the world outside of their own. in paldea she learns of a giant crater in the region’s center known as area zero that is forbidden to enter under any circumstance. convinced what lies there holds the answer to dialga’s sickness she decides to do a bit of recon, pretending to be a student of the famous naranja/uva academy( the default will be uva bc i like the color purple however this will fluctuate depending on the writing partner’s chosen/preferred school ) she sets off during the treasure hunt to find clues as to what could have happened in area zero & a way inside to confront professors turo & sada, those very clearly linked to the time-sickness effecting dialga. **this verse contains an original story based on shea’s lore & the events of the game, this description is spoiler-free ! click here for more info on this verse; contains minimal spoilers.
