Introducing Tradgays

Inspired by the “tradwife” phenomenon, we introduce the new trend sweeping the gay world: tradgays.

What is a tradgay? They are gay men who embrace “traditional” elements of life, relationships, and domestic hierarchy.

There are two types of tradgays. Terminology for this is fluid and some prefer alternative labels but for now we’ll call them Alpha males and beta males.

The Alpha is the protector, leader, and primary decision-maker in a relationship. The beta male is domestic, nurturing, and supportive of his Alpha.

Elements of a tradgay life:

Courtship and romance over hookup culture

Tradgays are tired of the sex-focused world of hookup apps, bars, and random encounters.

Instead they embrace dating, chivalry, and taking things slow.

Monogamy, with an eye towards marriage

To each their own- if you prefer polyamory, more power to you. But for tradgays, a “closed” relationship is the ideal relationship.

Courtship is treated as a precursor for the ultimate dream: finding a spouse and getting married.

“Traditional” relationship roles

Tradgays embrace traditional gender hierarchy but apply it to a gay relationship. The Alpha leads, the beta supports.

For marriage, the ideal is for the Alpha to be the breadwinner and the head of his household. While some betas may still need to work at least part-time, being a good little “househusband” who cooks, cleans, and obeys his husband is the gold standard.

Embrace of vintage aesthetics and lifestyle

Minimizing screen time and enjoying domestic life through reading, the arts, sporting events, and other forms of recreation can create a happy environment for a tradgay couple.

Some tradgays may choose to take up farming or homesteading while others embrace aesthetics from the 1950s or earlier.

What tradgays are NOT:

They are not aligned with, or supportive of, any kind of misogynistic, racist, or transphobic ideology. This is a chosen lifestyle and does not represent a hierarchy anyone MUST accept.

They do not tolerate abuse. Both parties in a relationship must be consenting adults who enjoy and are enriched by their choices. Every individual deserves support and resources if they feel unsafe or need to leave a relationship.

A lot of people fully don't understand their beliefs and this is why they find themselves trapped in extremism if sketchy ideologies.

Talking specifically about the tradwife meme I shared before, the problem with capitalism is not necessarily leadership (which is a different thing), or labour (although a lot of people disagree with this too, but that's another discourse) but exploitation.

But when you have only a superficial vision of anticapitalism it's easy to be convinced that being a SAHM would be a better choice - who on earth wouldn't do nice things for their spouse or children instead of working 8 hours plus whatever commute on the top of everything else.

If these people understood that the core issue is inequality and exploitation is easier to see why these memes are nonsensical - because by every data we have it's easy to prove that marriage is inequality and exploitation too, with social isolation on the top if it.

Ladies, and I mean real experienced ladies, will you please help these young girls out? Feminism has ruined their minds, capitalism has taken away their knowledge of the way a real woman should act. These young girls don't cook, clean, want to care for kids or know how to hire service anymore.

"Take care of me Daddy!" Is all I ever see. How am I supposed to build our world into an Empire with all these desperate, untrained girls around? If I'm taking care of them, how am I supposed to fend off the world?

I've had to learn how to cook, clean, do the laundry, take care of the pets and the kids. All the things that the women I've been with can't seem to figure out, yet they expect me to take care of them and pay for their world? No. No, that's not how this is going to work. One man may feel invincible, but in reality there's a limit to what we can do.

So I ask of you, trad wives, continue this simple list to help all of these Zoomers and Gen Alphas devote themselves to not the education of maths, sciences of the outside world, but building a good home through kitchen chemistry and budget calculation. Remind them that a good woman isn't stupid, simply educated in different areas of study.

A good girl knows when a dish is clean

A good girl knows to sort their laundry

A good girl knows how to pair their wines

A good girl knows how to spend their time

What else should a good woman do? Feel free to get more specific, and take the time to educate this generation of useless women. Help them keep our world moving, and help support the men who will dig us out of this hellscape that has been created from all the seperation. Help them, to help this world be a better place to live.

My thing with traditional feminism as a person raised Christian is this entire "Women are subservient to men" thing is very... abelist against neurodivergent people (this doesn't just include people with Autism and ADHD. But also people with FASD, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, and other mental illnesses or learning disabilities).

As an AFAB, before I knew I was nonbinary. I keep getting in trouble because I keep fucking up these goddamn "women must be subservient to men" rules. Because I talk to loudly. Or speak out of turn. Or talk to much. Or ask too many questions...

I eventually just started yelling "Fuck you" any time men tried to tell me to act more lady-like because I don't fucking know what I'm doing wrong but if my very existence of not understanding a single goddamn one of these fucked up unspoken rules, I might as well go with the flow and really dig my heels in, right?

I mean the men will be upset anyways because I earn more than them. So just by having a job I already threaten their fragile masculinity.

The thing about tradwives is they are girls who grew up hearing, "you can do anything! You can be anything when you grow up!" and "be a lady! Don't make messes!" these women went to college (probably racked up debt) and/or went into the workforce and got burnt the fuck out, went home to their boyfriends who were never expected to keep the same level of tidiness growing up, and so the woman ends up doing more labor and home and getting further burnt out and were like "I can't do anything I want, I'm tired as hell!" and so it's understandable that they would seek out a relationship where they exchange their freedom for more perceived control. Looking at a world where women have to work harder for less doesn't exactly inspire one to now work EVEN HARDER to dismantle that establishment.

Unfortunately what tradwives think is that them being raised and conditioned to be the ones who keep things clean, that cook the food, that look pretty, is that that means ALL women are naturally better at these things. And they look at men getting paid more and getting promotions and think that ALL men are just better at working/making money. Which is like, ok girl, do what you want to do, why are you trying to justify it with bioessentialism?
