what do u use for references (specifically w anatomy and poses) and if u don’t use references, how do u practice?? ur art is so beautiful 😭😭

sometimes i google the specific pose i want (stock image sites are nice), a lot of times i just draw from my head OR i take videos of myself!

if i want to practive, i def do use references, usually photos or videos :D also i highly recommend doing studies traditionalls in a sketchbook! and don't erase, commit to your lines, do warm-ups, use your whole arm, don't use cartoon characters for ref, etc

Extremely long art related vent that i don't want to put on my art blog.

I have so many unfinished wips from last year plus a wip with a deadline (that i'll finish no matter what, i promise) but i kind of feel "uninspired" about art lately. Like it takes me so long to finish a drawing that by the end i feel like it doesn’t worth it.

Plus i don't like my "style" or lack of it. Escpecially the way i color things. But i can't come up with some other way to do it no matter how many tutorials i watch.

I wanted to write some stuff here for a long time but kept delaying it. But basically i took some art courses during last year and i had to face the fact that my problems with drawing (both the amount of time that it takes me to finish a pic & how wonky my attempts at traditionall art media are) are not because of lack of education or practice or correct art materials but because i have some innate problems with eye to hand coordination.

After more than half an year of constantly dropping pencils and being unable to draw even lines even when a teacher literally had to force my hand i finally accepted that some things are beyond realms of my physical capabilities (even though i should have accepted the truth earlier judging by my absolutely unintelligible handwriting and amount of broken mugs and phone screens along the years).

So i guess i'm stuck to using line tool (because not using it extends my drawing time while i'm trying to clean all the wonky lines) for art but i really want to find a type of coloring & shading that will make it more interesting.

Otherwise i feel like stopping drawing altogether.

How do you make your digital art?

I use ClipPaint Studio!

There's...a non-zero chance that I'll start by sketching traditionally and then taking a picture of scanning it onto my computer, haha. (It's quicker and easier for me to do stuff traditionally, so usually if I'm trying to relax or am going to be doing something somewhat complicated I'll start there.) Then I kind of just...open it as a new file on CPS? (Or I'll doodle some sketches on there, if I didn't do it traditionall, haha.)

I think after that my process is...pretty basic overall, haha. Once I'm happy with the sketch I'll make a new layer and do the line art with the turnip pen tool, usually, and then make a layer under that for flat colors. (I use the fill tool and hit 'refer to other layers' since...the flat colors are the most boring part for me, aha. Then I'll use the turnip pen to clean up any gaps.)

For shading, I'll make a new layer over the flat color layer, then usually use the turnip pen to block out where I want the shadows to be, and the fill tool to fill them in. I'll switch the layer type to either 'Darken' or 'Multiply,' usually, and adjust the opacity until it looks good. (I'll usually add another shadow layer on top of that for smaller details and do the same thing I did with the first shadow layer.)

Highlights I'll usually use the airbrush tool for? I typically use the 'soft' setting, make a new layer, and add highlights where I think they'll look good. (Then adjust opacity and layer type until I think it looks good, haha.)

Backgrounds...uhhh. Well. Backgrounds are very involved, haha. Usually I'll sketch out the background on a different layer (if I didn't do it traditionally), and then I'll have like...fifty-million layers over top of it. I do lineless backgrounds, usually, and just...kind of use whatever tools seem like they'll work best for the material at hand? A lot of times I'll add lighting/shading to each individual part of the background just to make them look like they have depth, and then I'll have additional layers for more lighting/shading to account for the, you know...actual light source. At this point, my CSP file is a mess of unlabeled layers. (Flat backgrounds are definitely...much less time-consuming.)

Uh, depending on the type of picture I'm doing, I might also add effects/extra lighting? Usually using the airbrush tool on a different layer, haha.

But that's the process, basically!! Aside from my vaguely-chaotic backgrounds, probably not all that different from most people, aha.

random lovely guzma urge to delyeet everythin on myne site bc not only did i make it for petz things back when i was active between petz folks and got some encouragement there and ended up never finishing petz things for it, but i also feel horrible and uncommited for it being hosted and made on weebly and for bein too lazy to yeet my shit over to neocities just cause that shit gives me a headache and instead of getting inspired by people i feel jealous and unwelcome

also been working on my sleep schedule its a bit better now and im like. better in general now..? idk how long i can keep this up but getting up early makes me just. so tired like all day urgh i do not understand how i used to keep myself up when this tired. tired tired. brain empty. hard to do shit for long. defo needs more breaks but i swear to god everything feels like its frying my brain but i got nothin to do indoors. guess i can go draw traditionall but i end up putting such high expectations on myself i just yeah. fuck it up. get stressed. not fun. i need to stop thinking about others bc i keep thinking i put effort into smthn i need to show it off.like if i wasted time here i might as well. no this isnt showable it sucks damn it

even stuff i do draw purely for myself as self indulgent shit i go urhh this aint right

oh and then i try doin a lil excercise so im not like. physically diyng but my god that tires me out like instantly. but its okay, baby steps.

dont know what sort of place i am in mentally. the type id prolly spiral a bit over if it werent nice and 2 pm. wacky stuff. i wanna maybe do some stuff but ugh my brain just. isnt big thoughts when im tired. but honestly when am i not tired. and i am getting art done but i cant get myself to draw all day again ill end up in pain again my hand rn already is being a bit of a bitch

uhhh played pokemon in the morning but i need better pokemon already. i fuck up every raid (raids i need so i can get better mons easier) (and my shiny ralts i want easier)

hmm maybe i need a break from stuff but what kinda break what even is relaxing in my case? and "break from people" is a slippery slope of self isolation i always slip into. bit difficult to figure myself out

also, different thing, but ive been considering this for a good few months now and kinda ignoring it but i read one (1) thing and i m intrigued to do more n more research now but man do not like how moral ocd clicks perfectly with a lot of my most common issues . so i guess thats a thing to consider going into (like research) . if it helps .bc dear god i am Sensitive

but uhmmm yea sleeping better now ig like i went to sleep around ONE. my usual sleep time was 5-6 am a while ago !!!!!!! 1 am has always been my kinda usual time. man and i used to do that even when i had school and i *functioned* with less sleep. how did i do that. uhm. not well i guess

but yeah. things.. arent feeling right and i kinda wanna wipe my brain. also the neocities thing seems to be a part of my issue of (ppl who dont care abt me) r gonna thingk i suck bc i dont do (this that i find difficult) (coding) i will be exploded forever and shunned andhated

uhmmm what else yea last thought i forgot as i was gonna type it and the last thing i am deciding not to share anyway bc Shame so hooray

i am just realizing how like tired i am but if i go nap ill make it worse so uhmm cope i guess lmfao at least it keeps me going to sleep at a more regular hour but like srsly brain we got around 8 hours of sleep why are you tired we used to get less and function fine. maybe not as good but we functioned

This is a quick out of character post but here’s one of my ocs. His name is grey, he’s a werewolf, I was thinking of making him a resident evil oc too because why not. He’s not exactly like the Lycan’s in resident evil village *but* that doesn’t stop me from including him in this cause after all, fan characters and headcanon’s can deviate slightly from canon. Also yes I did draw the picture above, I had to watch stupid football crap in my class so I just drew during it.

Also some info about grey, he’s a detective in the local area of the village. He doesn’t have a boss and just does things his own way. He’s very flirtatious and can be quite cocky at times. He isn’t the neatest person ever (since he’s a Lycan). He’s also very good at problem solving and loves jigsaws and warm coffee. He’s very fluffy but prone to angry outbursts from time to time.

I will be including him in my ask box so if you want to ask him any questions you can. My Donna box is still open as well, I’ve finally got it all set up, I’m just bored at the moment. I’m also open to rp, I’ve been nervous about it cause I’ve never roleplayed on tumblr but if anyone could help me I’d be quite happy.
