this is my interactive ergodic web fiction project, the process of elimination !!! ↴↴↴

tpoe is an exploration of isolation, control, surveillance, and early 2020's-era internet culture. you play as harry arsigne, a 14-year-old cat artist living ~alone with his overbearing father, scott, in a decommissioned lighthouse in the shoreline town of conder, connecticut.

making choices through personality test responses, you'll balance your two hobbies: exchanging personal histories with and seeking questionable guidance from the set of five eccentric criminals scott keeps in his d.i.y. prison cell in the lighthouse basement, and using his surveillance software to monitor the online activity of one wren wayer*, a rather pretentious local high school sophomore and twice attempted gamedev with whom you have an at times overwhelming obsession.

* that says "wren wayer" sorry dark mode users

it is a whole queer ordeal with honest deconstructions of modern online teenager-hood, including fandom and forum drama, gay parasocial love, e-childlabor, and destructive codependent ldr's. it's also a crime drama about a father whose overprotective affection manifests itself as a sort of religious zeal pertaining to disease, water purity, and fucked up architecture.

we need another Prince of Egypt. we need another historical epic animated on an impossibly grand scale. we need another intelligent and well-crafted movie that can be enjoyed by anybody regardless of age or background. we need an animated movie that goes hog wild with facial expressions and cinematography and the soundtrack. we need another movie that won't leave your mind after watching it. we need another movie that reduces me to a sniveling mess at the nonstop grandeur and beauty of every little thing on the screen

so you know how in the prince of egypt, when moses is appointed as royal chief architect by rameses, the ring is this sort of aqua blue? and of course, aqua blue is not only rameses’ color by association (this dude is CONSTANTLY wearing aqua blue), but it also comes straight off of his own hand. hmm something something, rameses’ remaining influence over moses, with his outfit always having been predominantly red both as a prince of egypt and post-abandonment of his position, and him (mostly) freeing himself of it by handing the ring back to rameses when they reunite. plus the way rameses just straight up shoves the ring onto moses’ finger, abruptly disrupting his almost entirely red color scheme with this stark blue? yadda yadda. im sure everyone already knew this, and i had something better to say but i forgot oops, an edit: i thought about the rameses-shoving-his-ring-onto-moses’-finger thing for like one more second... something something, this occurs near a pivotal point in the movie where moses is beginning to be pulled in two directions (towards his people and towards the life of a prince of egypt), maybe symbolic for how rameses’ influence as the next pharaoh was already beginning to spread to and infect moses, and if he hadn’t encountered his sister + had his weird midlife crisis, he would have been overtaken by that “aqua blue” (rameses’ sway over him)

put short, it's a lot of fun and the product of a lot of work. it's my story-that-you-think-about-all-the-time of six or seven years as a finished product. tpoe is my first ever project of this scale, and if you think you'd be interested in playing (link in header of this post) and maybe spreading the word, i would appreciate it greatly Σ:)!!

I consistently post about learning banjo but keep forgetting to share instruments I’ve played longer. So here’s a piano improv! I’ve never read sheet music for this song nor learned it on piano before. I spent a few minutes checking that I’d have a solid chord progression, then hit “record” and had fun.
