Got some flats down on the hobgoblin toxicologist, hope to have the time to render them sometime in the future, and maybe one day even find a game for them!

We were given permission to share our pieces a few months ago but I completely forgot to!
This was the comic piece I did for @zineofgid, featuring my OC Marcel (a traumatized cult survivor) and @shylittlemoosen's Val (a morally corrupt therapist).

listen I don't care if it's a brand name instead of generic, I will look straight at a bottle of generic store brand acetaminophen and call it "Tylenol". 1) it's easier to say (only 3 syllables) and 2) I will steal power away the big giant corporation by making its name everyday and generic. Kleenex effect etc

Loved this book. It was short, sweet, and it made me feel ill. Definitely recommend if you want to read a book but you don't have a lot of time.

Meet the Toxicologist! More details below the cut!
The Toxicologist is a Support Class and the third of my tenth class OCs (both in terms of when I came up with him and the order of posting them on here)! He’s a rather mild, easygoing young man with a love for experimenting with poisons and taking naps!
His hypothetical gameplay would be similar in nature to Medic in the sense that his gameplay is very much pure support rather than offense or defence leaning. However, unlike Medic, his main goal is to go around and use his poison gas gun in order to not only debuff and cause chip damage to the enemy team, but to also buff his own team as well!
Toxi is a rather laid back and free spirited young man. He typically marches to the beat of his own drum and hates being bound by convention. Though, that often extends to doing rather bizarre things, such as testing his own poisons on himself for the fun of it and to feed his own innate curiosity.
Due to his relaxed nature, he just tends to go with the flow and not take most things too seriously (both to the delight and chagrin of his co workers, depending on who you ask). Though, when it’s needed most, he will pull himself and get serious. However, doing such always leaves him quite exhausted afterwards.
Toxi’s most notable quirk, aside from willingly using himself as his own test subject, is how sleepy he always seems to be. He always seems to be waking up and falling asleep at rather strange hours, to the point where he’d sleep an entire day if you let him. This has often lead to his teammates finding him taking naps in rather odd places, ranging from on top of the fridge, to underneath the dining table, to even on the battlefield!
Toxi’s real name is Tsukiya Ito and he’s originally from Kyoto, Japan. That being said, he actually doesn’t like talking all that much about his life there before he joined RED/BLU as a mercenary. If anyone tries to ask him something about his life there that’s a bit too personal for his taste, he’ll more than likely laugh it off before changing the subject.
That’s it for now, but hopefully there’ll be more to come in the future. Thank you so much for reading!

Class Feature Friday: Toxicologist Research Field (PF2 Alchemist Research Field)
Tumblr media
(art by lip3s on DeviantArt)
We’ve covered healing, bombs, mutagens… truly every field of study we’ve covered for the second edition alchemist has covered some aspect of the first edition version of the class… Well, all but one.
Introduced later in the 2E version of the Advanced Player’s Guide, our final research field (until if and when Paizo comes up with a new one) is that of toxicology, that is to say, the study of poisons!
The study of poisons is integrally intertwined with the study of medicine. Not just because it’s a good idea to know how toxins attack the body in order to counteract them and heal the damage, but also because technically, medicines and drugs are all technically poisons, albeit ones that are applied specifically so that their effects counteract and interfere with ailments that a patient is suffering from. Poisons that cause numbness developed into painkillers, a medicine of lowering blood pressure was originally evolved to cause sluggishness, and so on.
Of course, whereas the development of medicine is akin to using these toxins like a fine scalpel to treat ailments, such substances are most well-known for when they are used as a sledgehammer, debilitating the target to cause weakness, erratic behavior, or outright death.
A toxicologist alchemist might be a doctor seeking to better understand poisons in order to treat them more effectively, using them as a weapon only to defend themselves and others… or they might be professional poison-brewers which operate illegal businesses, or even use their poisons directly. Most are probably somewhere in between. After all, apothecaries did sell poison in addition to medicine, though officially such toxins were usually meant to be used on pest problems or animals. However, that was obviously not always the case.
Regardless of their motives or profession, these alchemists specialize in the brewing of toxic substances, and we’ll see how they put them to good use.
Naturally, these alchemists start knowing a few minor poisons. However, they also learn how to apply poison to their weapons quickly.
As they grow in mastery, they can prepare more poisons each day, and learn more and more potent types of alchemical poison formulae.
Perhaps their most insidious skill is learning how to apply two different types of poison to the same weapon without them interfering with each other.
Naturally, any alchemist feat that deals with poison is a naturally choice for this field.
One of the most vexing things about poison-focused characters in First Edition was that the DC to resist most poisons was fairly set in stone and only rare magic or abilities could alter it, but these alchemists actually set the DC of lesser poisons to match their class DC, reflecting their superior refinement and brewing of the toxins, making alchemist with this field a good choice for a lethal poisoner, especially if paired with the rogue multiclass archetype. Alternatively, you could go pure alchemist and focus on poisons, bombs, and healing all to your liking, including making antivenoms for your poisons as well.
While the average alchemist working for a thieves’ guild probably shed that moral quandary a while ago, consider the philosophical dilemma a character that studies poisons for beneficial reasons has when forced to use those poisons against foes. Some may be pretty torn up about it. Others maybe not so much.
Though born for the role of direct combat, Liao the titan nagaji has always been more interested in the various serpent traits of his people, particularly the venom produced by many nagaji. As such, he trained as an alchemist to test an observe the effects of various toxins, and occasionally use them in battle.
Normally the guardians and foot soldiers of the paths of the dead, vanth psychopomps are out of their element in dealing with mortals, but one finds themselves doing just that when a recent string of damaged souls have been making their way to the land of the dead. It seems an assassin group has taken to using poison laced with supernatural elements taken from daemons which corrode the soul as easily as the body, and these vanths need someone to find and eliminate the source.
To most, Ulec Whitestone is a friendly face, an apothecary who provides remedies for families in need, offering discounts and payment plans for those who normally couldn’t afford his prices. However, behind the dwarf’s friendly demeanor lies an amoral man, who also sells deadly poisons to ruffians and those with murder on their mind. More than once, families on his payment plans have ended up dead if they fail to keep up with the interest.

To Rattle the Chains
Tumblr media
Kat stood upon the stone outcrop, the gentle breeze rustling her hair as she gazed out over the serene park. Her eyes drifted across the vast open space, listening to the one-eyed alchemist below as she collect a bowl of soup from a street vendor just below her perch. Their gaze meeting for a brief moment in silent understanding.
With a covered bowl in her hand, Max respectfully approached her, acknowledging her position. "Director," Max spoke as she settled on the stone, holding the bowl carefully in her lap.
Kat's attention turned towards the bowl in the alchemist's lap, her curiosity piqued. "Is the soup for actual consumption, or some sort o' experimentation?"
"I don't play with my food," Max scoffed, tapping the lip of the bowl. "Augustine is watching the shop this evening. Thought I'd fetch him something."
"How kind 'n sisterly." The Director muttered, feigning interest.
Max clicked her tongue in jest, "I do try," she replied, turning towards the promenade below. "Business or pleasure, Director?" the alchemist asked with a smile, gesturing to the people below.
A curt snort forced through the Director's nostrils as her lips flattened at the corners. "As much as I love jokes about pleasure everyone seems t'make... Do I ev'a make an appearance in public for anything other than business, Miss Parkhurst?"
"Suppose not." Max hummed in agreement. "You'll have to excuse me, Director, if I so wish to cushion your professional demeanor with a bit of light-hearted banter."
A faint smirk curled the edge of Kat's lips, "Th' absolute audacity," she muttered before scanning the area. "A quick word, however, is my business here. I'll try not t'bend your ear for too long. Wouldn' want the soup t'go cold."
Max nodded understandingly, "Certainly not. Cold soup makes for a terrible meal," she quipped, raising a brow. "You have my attention. Unless you'd prefer a more quiet place to speak business?"
Shifting her attention fully toward the alchemist, the Director gave her a knowing stare. "When do I eva enjoy public crowds or the noise?"
"Fair enough," Max chuckled, rising to her feet with the bowl held securely. "Lead the way, then."
Kat motioned vaguely as she turned on her heel, leading Max to a quieter spot for their discussion. Choosing the longer route to ensure none were tailing, the two made small talk on the newly re-opened shop that the Parkhurst siblings had acquired. Whether or not the Director truly cared was uncertain, but the long walk to the far corner of the graveyard in silence would have been less than ideal.
Navigating beneath the vine-covered trellises, she approach one which held a tub of water and a handful of fish. Gloved hands rested upon the weathered rim as she stared down into her reflection in the water. Sinister thoughts and whispers of self-loathing began to stir in the deepest recesses of the Director's mind.
"I trust things have been goin' well with Sherwood's potions?" She inquired without looking away from the water.
Max took in the scenery with a subtle nod. "More or less," she remarked, turning to lean against the trellis. Her myopic gaze traced the vine's path upwards, tongue tapping against the backs of her teeth. A sigh eventually fell from her lips. "I've been researching the technicals behind the curse along with corresponding treatments. The result is just a lot of theory and postulation, though, without a real test subject."
The alchemist's fingers drummed against the bottom of the bowl. "All that to say— I've only a trial sample to offer."
As she gazed at her reflection with disappointment and disgust, Kat let out a low hum from behind her lips. Shifting her focus to Max, she leaned back against the water tub as her arms crossed beneath her bust. "Ian serves as the primary test subject, being th'only worgen in our crew," she explained. "But that's no' th'only reason for our conversation. There's something else that doesn' require Sherwood or anyone else's involvement."
Max's gaze snapped back to Kat, and the corners of her cordial smile twitched upwards. Revealed the faintest hint of a fox's wicked grin. "Then, at your word, I'll have the first samples delivered to Mister Sherwood." She paused, head canted as she recollected her smile. "You've my attention and discretion, Director."
Kat raised her hand for a brief moment before nestling it back into the opposite elbow with a shallow nod at Max's initial statement, a silent green light to deliver the trial potions to Ian. "Good. I need somethin' t'do th' opposite of wot Ian's potions will do. A concoction that will, let us say, uncage the beast within someone who is afflicted, rather than calm it."
Max's brows rose to meet her hairline as she incredulously blinked. "Might I ask why?"
The Director maintained her solid expression as she looked the alchemist back in the eye. "You may not."
Max clicked her tongue. Then nodded. "Fair enough."
"I do no' plan anythin' of ill intent. If that is of concern." Kat offered in a monotone.
A hum escaped the alchemist in her breath. It sounded more contemplative than condescending. "I am paid to craft potions and maintain discretion." She summoned her cordial smile and offered it to Kat with a slight inclination of her head. "What you do with my creations is beyond my concern. Though, I appreciate the reassurance nonetheless."
Max's shoulder rolled in a subtle shrug. "A lot of frivolous fluff to say I trust you, Director."
"Trust is generally earned, no' given, but I appreciate th' statement all th' same." Kat chuffed with a quick roll of her eyes.
"Fair enough. I'll begin work on your request as soon as I am able." Max replied before her brow raised once more to voice a slight concern. "This will require more valuable herbs and reagents, so you know."
"Send me th' invoice and I'll make sure it's taken care of. Either that or a list of th' reagents 'n herbs and I'll arrange a delivery." Kat dismissed the matter with a shrug, unbothered by the financial impact it may carry.
Max's warm smile lit up her face ever so slightly. "Wonderful. You can expect to hear back from me soon," she said, pushing herself away from the trellis and tilting her head inquisitively. "Is there anything else that needs to be addressed?"
"No, that's all," Kat replied, gesturing with two fingers towards the path. "You should go before the soup freezes."
"Of course." Max chuckled softly and started down the path, waving briefly over her shoulder. "Enjoy your skulking, if that's what you prefer, Director."
The Director let out a low, grumbling sound, lips pursed tightly as her gaze narrowed. "I do not skulk," she muttered, glancing briefly at her reflection in the pool before heading off in the opposite direction.

Ultimate toxicologist Seiko?
so many i swear i'd done before but apparently hadn't lol
Seiko had a wide range of things she did as a toxicologist, though most of her classmates just associated her with poison in general. There was a lot more that she did than just that.
Her work was mostly research-based, specifically in terms of searching for treatments to known toxins. Some, after all, were far deadlier upon exposure than others.
She knew how serious her work was, and how careful and concentrated she needed to be in order to work with all of the chemicals she did. It was honestly the only time she felt fully calm.
Most of her classmates avoided her due to her skittishness combined with her talent, but she was really sweet if any of them bothered to get to know the girl behind the talent.
For the time being, she was alright enough working alone in her lab. She was doing important work, and that was more than fulfilling enough. She didn’t mind not having many friends.

Oh yeah, also doodled up a quick design based on one of my FR dragons. I have two vers because the colors weirded my brain out despite wanting to match the dragon.
Byeah this is the Toxicologist (they/them), a mute poisons and toxins expert working for some rather... shady organization neutralizing paranormal threats! They're also a rather avid card player with a very bizarre deck....

no but cyanide smells like almonds and metatron gives aziraphale a latte with "a hefty jigger of almond syrup" (even tho he told NINA a DASH of almond syrup) and when crowley took the laudanum it just made him delusional/act "drunk" so WHO'S to say that a little bit of cyanide won't have a similar, milder effect that makes aziraphale (they are of the same stock, after all) more susceptible to consenting to metatron?
