The Confederacy can be seen as an agrarian prototype of the USSR insofar as it was an ideological revolutionary state dedicated to denial of the right of anyone else to disagree with it by armed force:

It had nine million people within its borders, three million of whom were Black, free and enslaved alike. This three million plus some of the white people who had very specific grievances that stopped well short of actually criticizing the white supremacist system, would ultimately topple the system from within as the armies of Grant, Thomas, Sherman, and Sheridan did from without.

I will note now that while Gettysburg was one of its largest battles and other large battles happened that they will not receive focus here because this is about *Black* military history and the battles and campaigns skipped are those fought by lily-white armies, with the singular exception to this rule for very specific reasons the armies of General William T. Sherman in the Savannah and Carolinas Campaigns.
