Tumblr media
Morning dawned over the horizon, the Straw Hat Pirates waking up from their slumber. Luffy was snoring away, sprawled like a starfish across your bed, you also still sleeping, an arm over his waist, and head on his shoulder.
Loud knocking woke your boyfriend up, as he heard Usopp saying something. Yawning and stretching, he stood up and tapped to the door, hand in his hair as he opened it. "Usopp? What´s wrong?" "Ah! You´re here! I thought you-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!", his best friend began to talk but drifted off, screaming loudly at him.
"Why are you screaming?", asked Luffy. " YOU´RE NAKED!!!!". Silence came over them as Luffy looked down. "Oh, no wonder that I feel so cold" "Luffy! You-" "mmh", Usopp got interrupted by your voice, Luffy looking over with a grin. "Je is currently waking up. What is-USOPP!!", Luffy saw his best friend pale as a ghost.
Slaaming the door in his face, Luffy was confused but turned around. "He´s weird today" "Who is?", you spoke, finally up, stretching yourself. "Usopp! I guess Sanji put something in his food, or Chopper tested some medicine on him...pants pants", he said and looked around for his pants.
"Morning everyone!", shouted Luffy as you both arrived in the kitchen. Sanji looked something in between mad and sad. "Why, you lucky bastard?!" "Hm?" "Why do you slept by our Goddess again?! I want to be the one next to her" "Sanji I told you my room is always open for anyone", you admitted with a soft smile.
"But my Goddess! I mean sleeping by your side! Not that rubber idiot!!! Waking up next to you would be a blessing for my heart and soul, to see you the first thing in the morning!", he began to swoon around you.
During breakfast, Usopp poked in his food before pushing it away. "Usopp? Are you ok? Not eating?", Franky asked. "Are you sick?!". Chopper was worried. "Oi, you better eat it long nose"
"No. I can´t", he said, hands in a prayer, his index fingers touching his lips. "A stomachache?", asked Robin. "That would be better than what I saw!", he admitted. "A monster?" "Sea King?" "Your face in the mirror?", asked Zoro. "You bastard! No!!! THESE TWO!", he pointed to you and Luffy.
"Eh, did we do something wrong?", you asked. "Not that I remember", said Luffy and took his best friends plate. "Don´t you play with me! My innocence is gone!!!" "You? And innocent?", Nami was more than doubtful. "Yes! Before it clicked on them!"
"What did you do, Luffy?", asked Robin. "Nothing! He knocked and I opened and then he screamed", admitted your boyfriend before you feed him, making him shine.
"YOU WERE BUTT ASS NAKED!!!", the sniper yelled so loudly that his voice cracked, "AND SHE WAS STILL IN BED! YOUR CLOTHES WERE EVERYWHERE! YOU TWO FUCKED!!!"
Silence. "Yohohohoho, Usopp-san, I think you were still dreaming", laughed Brook. "Ah, no. He was right. Je and I slept together", grinned Lu widely, while you blushed bright red.
"WHAAAAAAAAA?!", Nami, Sanji and Chopper screamed. The rest was too shocked to speak. "Luffy! What did you do?!", Nami was about to attack him. "What? I didn´t put a baby in Je" "How the hell do you know how that works?!", Sanji was having a meltdown. "Of course I know how sex works. I´m not dumb!", protested your captain.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!! Our captain is more man than you, hentai-brow!", laughed Zoro. "Fu fu fu, was it fun?" "Robin!" "Yes! With Je it is always fun. We laugh and have fun, and kiss us a lot" "Wait...always?", asked Franky.
"Yeah, we did it a couple times already", beamed Luffy with innocence and you could vanish. Usopp stood up. "Usopp?", asked Chopper. "It was nice meeting you all, I sacrifice myself to the Sea" "USOPP NO!!!", Chopper cried. "I´m traumatized for life! Luffy and ...THIS! Is something that I never thought would happen" "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Luffy-kun, you are a real man now!", laughed Jinbe, everyone completely ignoring Sanji and Zoro fighting outside.
"Yohohoho, Luffy-san?" "Yes brook?" Brook bend down to him. "What color are her panties today?", he asked, awaiting as your boyfriend closed his eyes. "mmmh...ah! Blue like the sky" "Yohohohohoho", Brook dripped blood from his nose. "YOU PERVERT!", Nami kicked him full force outside.
You finally stood up. "Je?" "I shoot myself to the sun", you admitted, face high red as you walked out, the chaos continued.

Two years is a long time...

Other chapters: should be the right link:
Chapter 3
Hi. Here is another chapter. The next one might have some fluff and more relationship stuff. Hope it's OK. I might reedit at some point as I feel I might need to add a few things.
Just for reference Shika = Jeshika it's Just easy to write
---------------------
Sanji was grateful to finally see Shika; not just because it was her, but because he was also grateful to see an actual woman. The last few years had made him miss women; but most of all, he missed the touch and sight of women; more specifically, this one woman. His woman. Always his. As he remembered being on that godforsaken island, he clung to the smell and surroundings that he was currently. He couldn’t tell you how grateful he was to see all 3 ladies again, but the island did do one thing. It made him realise how much Shika meant to him. He knew they were something before they separated, but they were new and hadn’t put much thought into what they were. Over time, he came to realise he wanted; no needed more.
His thoughts kept coming back to that over the last few days, which prompted him to never leave her side, always within touching distance; almost always touching. Shika noticed the increased touching but didn’t say anything. She just enjoyed it for what it was almost afraid if she said anything it would stop. Sanji fawned over her, constantly making sure that she had everything she needed, even before she knew she needed it. Food parcels, clothes washed; anything. This made him happy, and it made her happy to be the centre of his attention. That’s all he needed for now.
Zoro was in a similar position; trying to sleep and drink and push away the feelings gnawing in his stomach; the more he felt the stirrings, the more he over drunk his Sake and slept. It was the only way to not think of her. Though sleep didn’t always stop that. He couldn’t say he hated it, but being as emotionally stunted as he was, he couldn’t place why. He just thought he hated seeing her with that stupid blonde haired moron but in reality, it was different. He couldn’t help but scowl every time Sanji touched Shika, and every time he saw he laugh at something. The feeling in his gut would not go away. It got to a point where Shika had noticed that she felt the swordsman’s eyes on her more than once.  Even Nami had felt the tension in the air, which made her curious.
----------------
During the next few days, none of them had moved off the ship; only to restock a few supplies here and there. That was until Luffy started getting bored. Once the festivities and reunions had worn off, Luffy was itching for adventure. One morning, they had been woken up to Luffy shouting and throwing himself off the ship in glee. There had been rumblings of marines in the area, and that there was something going down in Sabaody, and of course, Luffy was the first to throw himself into it.
Shika was woken with Luffy shouting and the whole crew running to see what their captain was shouting about. But they didn’t have much time to discuss. She had walked out hair a mess and her sleeping clothes hanging half off her body. Both the men stared at her. Sanji’s heart beating out of his chest, hearts already in his eyes. Of course, he had been up for hours, but to see her like this made him want to take her in his arms. Instead, he pressed a kiss to her hand and handed her a bite to eat. Zoro’s eye’s narrowing at the sight, and a sudden urge fluttered in his heart. He had never seen her so beautiful… he immediately pushed that thought out of his head and was pulled out of any further thoughts by his Captain’s shouting. He guessed their quiet was over for now… though a part of him was happy to be distracted for a while.
Luffy was already off the ship, no one really having a clue what he was shouting about bit knew something was going down. They all quickly ran to get dressed and get things ready before splitting up. One group was trying to find Luffy. The other heading into town to find out what the marines were doing back in Sabaody.
Of course, Zoro got put with the idiot cook, Chopper, and Shika. Whilst Nami, Franky, Robin and Brook went off to follow there captain. He let out an almost audible frustrated growl and being stuck with the love sick fool but he felt a small happiness at being with the other two, though he put that down to being with Chopper and not being alone with the chef.
Once they were all ready, they took a stroll onto the island. Sanji grabbed Shika’s hand while Chopper sat a top of Zoro’s head. Zoro narrowed his eyes at the sight but quickly looked away. His hand tightened over his katana.
The next few hours were pretty uneventful, they had found out that Sentomaru was around but they had yet to find out where he was and currently they wanted to stay low and find out what was going on. Obviously, Luffy was doing his own thing, but the rest had finally agreed to find out more information; much to Zoro’s annoyance. He wanted to beat the crap out of Sentomaru, but he was out voted and out voiced by everyone else he had no choice but to agree.
Though Zoro couldn’t quite be that annoyed now, they were in the bar. A sake in his hand, and Shika sat up close to him in the booth, which felt like a dream. He could feel his heart increase, and his body grew warm. He shouldn’t be feeling like this; he thought to himself, trying to ignore Shika and the blond idiot; instead focusing on chopper; who was currently sitting on Shika’s lap. Chopper was animated and drinking his milk, making an adorable picture. As time went on, they started to discuss what to do in regard to the marines and especially Sentomaru. But Zoro’s thoughts kept being distracted by the heat radiating from Shika.
As Sanji went to grab some more drinks for them all Shika shuffled a little to look at Zoro, slight concern showing on her face. Zoro was quieter than usual, and that didn’t sit right with her. Not one bit. She didn’t want to make a fuss in the presence of chopper, but she found his hand and squeezed it, raising her eyebrow to see if he was alright. What she didn’t realise was that touch made Zoro tense; though he tried not to show it… all his thoughts zeroing in on her hand in his and the heat coming from it. He cleared his throat and took his hand away, going to pick up his sake, but he could still feel the heat like it was seared into his palm. “Am fine…” he spoke in monotone, trying so hard to stay stoic and calm. Just as he was about to say something else, Sanji came back over with the drinks, while placing them down his gaze, looking to Shika, not noticing the tension.
“You never guess what…” his voice cutting through the silence. “When I was at the bar… I heard someone say something about us… well, not us… someone pretending to be us. They said the Strawhat’s had already been in here, causing trouble. Luckily, they didn’t recognise us, but i do think we should maybe leave and find out who these imposters are.” All three listened to Sanji’s words. Zoro still slightly zoned out, focusing on his hand; that was until he felt himself being pulled out of the booth.
As they were about to leave, 3 people walked into the bar.
“Hey old man, get us a drink and maybe some food too.” A loud voice boomed through the bar and whispers picked up. “Is that… yes that must be… the Strawhat crew…” whispers picked up and the 3 men walked into view.
Fake Luffy, Zoro, Sanji.
Luckily, the other 4 were still hiding near the booth. Once they heard the whispers, they turned around to see who was the subject of those whispers, and Shika couldn’t help but let out a snort, half expecting Luffy to walk in, but no. These 3? These 3 looked terrible.
Zoro let out a laugh as the slightly blonde one called himself Sanji. Sanji just had a scowl on his face. “How in the world would anyone think that’s me.” He said with disbelief. Zoro laughed harder. He couldn’t help it. “I don’t know. I can see the resemblance cook. ” he felt Sanji glare at him but quickly turned his gaze to the imposter, sorrow plastered on his face as he felt disrespected. “Shut it, mosshead, yours ain’t much better,” he smirked back. Zoro was going to retort when he heard another gunshot.
Zoro stared at Sanji, not uttering a word. Instead, Sanji nodded and grabbed Shika’s and pulled her to get out of the bar; hoping Zoro would keep his cool this once. Luckily for him, he did. They knew they had to keep their heads down if the marines were looking for them, and a small part of them thought this could be a good distraction. Zoro grabbed Chopper, and they slinked out the bar as they heard a gunshot and someone fell to the floor. “I am captain Luffy,” the voice shouts… “I get what i want. ”… and with the commotion picking up, they managed to sneak out. Zoro’s free hand resting on the hilt of his sword just in case. However, they were soon to realise that this would not be the distraction they needed. In fact, these groups of idiots would create more problems than they would solve.
The guy that looked a lot like Fake Luffy decided to shoot another innocent bystander. As her friend protests, he is shot as well. There were whispers circulating and panic settling in. The Fake looking Luffy orders his crew to do something. The words are being lost in the commotion, but they are suddenly knocked down by the figure. Shika and Sanji didn’t realise that Zoro had moved. Already in front of the other man. His eyes glaring at the figures in front.
The guy who looks like fake Luffy starts getting in Zoro’s face and trying to threaten Zoro. Zoro just stares at them unbothered. The rest of Fake Luffy’s crew join in to try and intimidate Zoro, but Zoro continues to stare; his hand resting on the hilt of his katana. The only thought in Zoro’s head was him hoping Sanji had got Shika out of there, which, luckily for him, Sanji was also leading her out of the bar quietly. Sneaking through the commotion with every intention of going back in when Shika was out of the way.
The crowd in the bar were terrified, hoping they would go along with their wishes and threats. However, Zoro simply walks up to them and gets right in his face. Fake Usopp goes to shoot him, but Zoro manages to dodge the bullet and pushes his katana to Fake Luffy’s neck. Not before using his Haki on the Fake Straw Hats, causing them to faint, which astonishes the crowd. Once satisfied, he downed his drink and left to meet up with Shika, Sanji, and Chopper. He took one look behind him with a satisfied smirk and left.
--------------------
“Too late stupid cook…” he smirked as he saw Sanji start to walk back. His thoughts were going to Chopper and Shika, hoping they were out of the way. Sanji scowled, but deep down, he was glad that the problem was over; for now.
“I think we should head back before we encounter more trouble…” Chopper said as he walked out of the alley that they had been put in. As they walked back, all was quiet until they heard a loud bang, and a flash of light came from the sky. Before they knew it, they were flung back and separated over the field. Chopper landing in the forest behind them.
-------------------
 When Shika finally opened her eyes, she could feel a presence and a tension in the air. She tried to sit up; seeing all three of them spread out on the field. It took a few minutes to realise something was wrong. Until her eyes landed on what appeared to be Bartholomew Kuma and another guy in the background.
Her gaze was shifted to Zoro’s shouts of what the hell was that. Both Zoro and Sanji got to their feet slowly; Chopper was still out cold.
The air crackled with tension as Zoro and Sanji stood up and looked around, both realising the situation they were all in. Sentomaru and the Pacifista; or was it Kuma. They weren’t entirely sure, and they didn’t really care. Both of them took a quick look around to check where Shika and Chopper were. They couldn’t see Chopper, but they both relaxed a little when Shika moved a little. The relaxed state was quickly pushed away as  “Kuma” started walking towards them.
The two Straw Hat crew members stood back to back, their eyes locked on their opponents. “Get out of her Shika Chan,” Sanji shouted in all seriousness, “Go find Chopper,” Zoro also shouted. They couldn’t keep the worry out of their voices, but they both had no time for that.
Shika did what she was told. Her head throbbed a little as she felt blood running down the side of her face, but she slowly got up and crawled towards the forest, hoping that the other two were distracted enough.
Sanji and Zoro made quick work of the Pacifista, showing how much they had learnt in the 2 years away. They both kicked and sliced as though it was paper. Sentomaru was a little taken back at the difference from last time, but he didn’t let it show. Instead, choosing to glare at the two pirates in front of him with a steely gaze. Zoro and Sanji exchanged a quick glance, communicating silently with each other. When they weren’t bickering, they made a good team; not that either would admit to that, but they knew.
They turned to look at Sentomaru and knew that this would be a tougher fight, especially without the rest of the crew, but they were determined to give it their all. After all, they had Shika to protect; and Chopper. They weren’t going to be separated again. Not when they had just reunited. Zoro gripped his swords tightly while Sanji cracked his knuckles in anticipation and readying his foot for the upcoming fight.
As the battle began, the two Straw Hats launched themselves at Sentomaru with unparalleled skill and determination. Unfortunately for them. The group that had turned up earlier were also on their way towards the commotion, not one to forget.
Zoro took out his sword and put it in his mouth, readying to attack the men in front. He threw himself towards the group. Three swords sliced through the air with deadly precision, just barely missing the guy in front, while Sanji’s powerful kicks didn’t go unnoticed. The fake Strawhat’s fighting back with some intensity, but they were no match for Zoro and Sanji. The group was disposed of quickly as the clash of metal and the sound of grunts filled the air. Zoro and Sanji took care of the imposters and were not daring to stop and refused to back down until all of them were down. Both of their main thoughts were to protect Shika.
Unknowingly to them, Sentomaru had disappeared towards the forest in the commotion, looking for the other Strawhat’s. In that moment, there was a piercing scream which echoed through the forest.
In a flurry of confusion as Shika was still a little out of it. She hadn’t noticed she had company. She finally found where Chopper was and was gently picking him up. As she did so, she felt someone grab her arm. She tried to struggle but only had one arm and was feeling a little woozy. Sentomaru quickly grabbed Shika and dragged her away. This was one sure fire way to get Monkey D Luffy Sentomaru thought to himself.
Shika was already weak as the hit to her head was affecting her, unable to put up much of a fight. She did try to push him away, but her attempts were futile. She shouted for Sanji and Zoro. Her piercing screams fell in the air as Sentomaru hit her with such force she began to black out.
The last thing she saw was Sanji running towards her at full speed, Zoro not far behind, but they were stopped by another of Sentomaru’s Pacifistas, who stood in their way as she was whisked off, barely clinging to life. Of course, they both made quick work of the Pacifista, but by the time they were done, Sentomaru had taken Shika with them. Chopper falls from the sky as she lets go of her grip in unconsciousness. Zoro caught Chopper but felt at a loss at what to do. Both Sanji and Zoro’s hearts slowed. Not again, they thought as she was whisked away. Blood and sweat pooled on and around their heads as they stood there seeing Sentomaru disappear with her. Zoro snapped at Sanji, Sanji was a wreck, but they knew they had to pull it together. To see her again. This wasn’t how today was supposed to go. They had to get back to the Sunny. As much as Sanji wanted to run after you, he had to be the semi rational one. Sentomaru was no joke, and they both had to get help from the crew.
Zoro wanted to rush head first and chase after him, but deep down, he knew Sanji was right. Even if that did make him want to throw up at admitting that. Anything to keep her safe, he thought to herself. His heart beating at the thought of not seeing her again. They weren’t at 100%, and they couldn’t risk messing this up. They both took deep breaths, getting lost in their own thought’s.
Sanji picked up Chopper, trying to squash his thoughts. He had only just got her back. He didn’t know how he could cope with her gone so soon. He had tears down his cheeks, but he forced himself to drag his ass back to Luffy.
Both of them were in some agreement. If Sentomaru even touched a hair on Shika’s head, they would be the ones to kill him; no matter what; not Luffy… them.
------------------
When Shika barely gained consciousness, she felt her hands heavy and cuffed. The room she was in was dark and damp. She tried to take in any information she could but felt herself slip back into unconsciousness. All she thought of was Zoro and Sanji, as she closed her eyes again and heard Sentomaru laugh in the distance.

Fate is a strange thing - MCU Bucky Barnes fanfic
Tumblr media
!NOTE!: ABO universe/themes, inspiration from MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE franchise, Bucky Barnes x OC (Theo) male character x potentially others
~~~
Theo sighed for the hundredth time that day, they were out in public and Bucky had the balls to expose their relationship by burying that nose of his against Theo’s scent gland, the sun had long since fallen and people scattered back into their homes, but that didn’t mean no one was watching. Theo gives the cheeky Alpha a brief glare while pushing his face away, but Bucky only responds to him with the characteristic ‘charming’ smile, the very same one which usually wooed all the ladies near his person. However, Theo was not only a man, but he was more than used to Bucky’s flirtatious methods and clingy attachment to his person.
And it was all for good reason. Bucky knew since the day he met Theo when they were kids, that this man with the honey golden eyes littered with orange specks (an eye colour unique to Theo alone), with the smell just shy of the typical overbearing sweetness of an Omega, and a heart of gold behind a frankly transparent uncaring attitude- this boy needed to be his in any way that was possible. It didn’t matter that the both of the were men, but it was a difficult secret to hide from the rest of the world.
“Focus.” Theo reminds, snapping Bucky from his lovestruck expression and earning a nod, still adorning that charming smile on the sergeant’s face.
Coming to an abbrupt stop, Theo scrunches his nose a little, a sharp inhale following as a particular scent invaded Theo’s rather sensitive nose, he looked to his partner and gave Bucky a knowing look.
“Let me guess…Steve?” Bucky sighs, the smile finally leaving his face at the thought of the troublesome Alpha-dud. “That guy, I swear.” Bucky grumbles, “Lead the way.”
Theo rolled his eyes at Bucky’s change of attitude, but followed his sensitive Omega nose down a few streets and to the right- into a dark alleyway. Bucky instinctually moved in front of Theo in an attempt to protect him and make him feel secure and safe, but it didn’t have much of an affect when Theo himself was of the same muscle mass, though he appreciated the effort despite being the tallest between the two. Though in saying that, the hidden claiming mark between his shoulder blades throbbed at Bucky’s action in a lower purr.
He’d be able to fight just as well as Bucky, but a small smile still grew on his face at the funny Alpha’s move to protect him. It was a nice thought, Theo supposed.
“You just don’t know when to give up, do you?” An unknown voice chimed, confidence radiating from his words alone. He was no doubt an arrogant drunk Alpha just by the man’s tone, yet alone the disgusting smell of his drunk scent.
“I can do this all day.” Steve mutters, taking another solid hit to the face as the stranger attacks him.
“Hey! Pick on someone your own size.” Bucky voices, standing tall and proud, the embodiment of an Alpha.
The stranger clicks his tongue in aggravation, forgetting Steve in seconds to instead swing his fist toward Bucky. Bucky however, twists the man around skilfully before kicking him to the ground and motioning for the now frightened drunk to leave.
He does so without a moment’s hesitation, earning a low chuckle from Theo.
Theo then quickly approaches Steve’s side in seconds, fingers delicately brushing against Steve’s wounded and bruised face, Theo frowns at the damage, a saddened sigh leaving his lips. Steve glanced away, ashamed of being the cause to the disappointed sigh, much less from his packmates (even if not technically true, Bucky and Theo made it abundantly clear that the dud was stuck with them).
“Sometimes, I think you like getting punched.” Bucky comments, swinging his arm over Steve’s shoulder.
“I had him on the ropes.” Steve states with confidence, holding his head high. Moving away from Steve, Bucky picks up a discarded parchment from the cold and wet concrete of the alley. It was an enlistment form.
“How many times is this?” Bucky questions, raising an eyebrow. He then reads over the paper in his hands, snorting at the information. “Oh, you’re from Paramus now? You know it’s illegal to lie on the enlistment form.” Bucky rambles with a sigh.
“And seriously, Jersey?” Theo adds, a frown on his face.
“You two get your orders?” Steve changes the subject, looking at both their uniforms.
“The one-o-seventh. Sergeant James Barnes and Medical Officer Theo King. Shipping out for England first thing tomorrow.” Bucky chimed with a grin, pulling Theo back to his side, in-between Steve and himself. Steve gave them a tight smile, they looked so perfect and happy, ready to serve their country in war.
“I should be going.” Steve grumbles.
Bucky shakes his head, “Come on, man. It’s our last night! Gotta get you cleaned up.”
“Why? Where are we going?” Steve asks, confusion on his face.
“The future.” Bucky answers, handing Steve a newspaper article, on it is the ad for the World Exposition Of Tomorrow.
“Come on, Stevie. Let’s get you cleaned up back at the nest.” Theo suggested, a rare but charming smile of his own on display for the dud.
..
The ‘nest’ as Theo called it was more like an assortment of blanket’s and pillows on the ground, two thin-cheap mattresses underneath. All Omega’s have a nest, it brings them comfort and security as it’s their most sacred place. It’s where they raise their pups. But for this rag-tag group, it works just fine as a regular bed to sleep in.
Although it smelt mostly of subtle Theo’s Vanilla bean scent, there was still the faint smell of Bucky’s cinnamon as well. Steve often found himself wondering what his own scent would of smelt like if he wasn’t an Alpha-dud. Strong and powerful? Seductive and safe like leather? Or warm and calm, like apple pie?
Dressing Steve up, Bucky didn’t waste time in grabbing the two and dragging them all the way to the Stark Expo. The child-like wonder Bucky had on his face had Theo show that small smile again, Steve however just looked uncomfortable. Most people weren’t as accepting of duds as Theo and Bucky were, to some they smelt rotten and to others it was a curse.
Theo gave the odd Alpha a reassuring smile, placing an arm around his shoulder and pulling the small man to his side. Bucky smiled at the two as he returned from the food vendor with a carton of popcorn.
“Shall we?” Bucky inquired with an excited glint in his eyes as he led the two toward the Expo’s stage.
Music began playing as the stage lights up, an Announcer introduces the show with an unnatural energy in his voice. He seemed a little fed up with introducing the same show over and over.
“Welcome to the Modern Marvels Pavilion and the World of Tomorrow. A greater world. A better world.”
Bouncing on the balls of his feet, Steve felt himself being pushed backwards as the crowd squeezed themselves closer to the stage with excitement and uncaring for those around them. However, without warning the sudden pressure was gone and Theo draped his arms over Steve’s shoulders, looking up at the stage with a similar excitement in his unique almost electric blue orbs.
Steve let out a small breath of relief as Theo shuffled him to stand at the front, sacrificing his own body to be on the receiving end of all the pushes and shoves.
Most would probably just assume Theo was an Alpha anyway, all the mixing of scents made it incredibly hard to identify anyone’s sub-gender- Theo’s unusual body build just made stranger’s have a harder time trying to categorise him. Besides, Theo’s scent was so subtle that it was only if your nose was against his skin, that you could detect that addicting smell identifying him as Omega. Though of course, Bucky was incredibly sensitive to Theo’s smell as his Alpha- a connection Steve would never understand as a dud.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Howard Stark!” A woman cheers, ushering the famous Stark onto the stage. Howard enters with a wide obnoxious smile, kissing the female announcer before pushing her away. Very old-school Alpha.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, what if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won’t even have to touch the ground at all.” Howard inquires, and a few female Beta’s wearing velvet blue, red and white American coloured dresses help take the wheels from a car on stage.
“Yes. Thanks, Ladies.” Howard tips his head at the lady helpers, “With Stark robotic reversion technology, you’ll be able to do just that.” He turns on the switch to his machine and the car starts to magically hover off the ground. Everyone is silent and wide-eyed at the display.
“Holy cow.” Bucky murmurs in amazement.
Without warning the mechanisms holding the car in the air start to malfunction and the car falls back onto the stage.
“I did say a few years, didn’t I?” Howard chuckles, the crowd laughs.
“Hey, Steve, what do you say we…” Bucky pauses as he sees the empty space in front of Theo. Theo follows his gaze, a surprised expression on his face as he realises Steve managed to slip from Theo’s arms without him noticing.
Looking around, the two of them push against the flow of the crowd in order to reach the recruitment/ enlisting office, where no doubt Steve had wandered off to. Theo’s keen sense of smell only confirmed their suspicions as they escaped from the large crowd, making it easier to track that almost rotten scent of Steve’s.
With their uniforms still on, Bucky and Theo received a few head nods and smiles as they moved around the recruitment centre with ease. Bucky sighed as he saw Steve standing on the height measurement scale. Standing in front of a mirror but he’s far too short to fill out the body projected.
“Come on.” Bucky ushered, guiding Steve toward the exit of the centre. “You’re kind of missing the point of a pack activity. We were going to go dancing.”
Steve shakes his head, “You two go ahead. I’ll catch up with you.” Steve states, his eyes drifting back to the centre.
“You’re really gonna do this again?” Bucky sighed.
“Well, it’s a fair. I’m gonna try my luck.” Steve shrugs.
“As who?” Bucky lightly snaps, “Steve from Ohio? They’ll catch you. Or worse, they’ll actually take you.” Bucky ends, his voice softening as Steve’s eyes drift to the ground.
“Look, I know you two don’t think I can do this.” Steve states, his quiet voice cracking slightly.
“This isn’t a back alley, Steve.” Theo adds, his eyes sympathetic.
“It war!” Bucky corrects.
“I know it’s a war. You don’t have to tell me.” Steve states.
“Why are you so keen to fight? There are so many important jobs.” Bucky inquires, raising an accusing eyebrow.
“What am I gonna do? Collect scrap metal…” Steve trails off.
“Yes!” Bucky exclaims, throwing his hands in the air. His frustration was beginning to effect the strangers around him as he unknowingly was emitting his scent in strong waves- trying to get Steve to submit to his ideals.
“…in my little red wagon.” Steve finishes his sentence.
“Why not?” Bucky asks, worry in his expression.
“I’m not gonna sit in a factory, Bucky.” Steve mumbles.
“I don’t…” Bucky trails off as Theo gives his shoulder a squeeze, Bucky looks around him, noticing the wary strangers walking around their small pack. He sighs, reaching up to squeeze Theo’s hand in reassurance. Calming him also in the process, his scent thinning out.
“Buck, come on!” Steve pleads, “There are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them. That’s what you don’t understand. This isn’t about me.” Steve states with strong conviction. A sad smile makes its way onto Theo’s face.
“Right. Cause you got nothing to prove.” Bucky mumbles.
“Come on, Sarge. Aren’t we going dancing?” Theo voices, giving a nod to Steve. Steve’s eyes widen in surprise at Theo’s sudden change of thought, he returns the nod discretely while Bucky looks Theo’s way.
“Yeah, yeah.” Bucky rolls his eyes, “Don't do anything stupid until we get back.” Bucky orders Steve.
Steve grins, “How can I? You’re taking all the stupid with you.”
“You’re a punk.” Bucky states shaking his head, leading himself and Theo away from the centre.
“Jerk.” Steve mutters, “Be careful. Don’t win the war till I get there!” He calls out to them. Theo looks back at Steve, waving him off, Steve rolls his eyes returning to the recruitment centre’s entrance.
“Sounds like they’re playing our song.” Bucky comments with a cheeky smile. Theo hits his shoulder lightly.
“You say that all the time.” Theo retorts, pressing his lips to Bucky’s before the Alpha could respond. Bucky smiled into the kiss, rocking them side-to-side as the music guided his steps. Lost in a little corner of the dancing hall, away from prying eyes.
“You know…” Bucky starts, “I’m beginning to think you’re not on my side anymore.”
Theo hums, allowing the Alpha to finally dig his nose against Theo’s neck and draw in as much of that vanilla scent as the sergeant wanted.
“I’m sorry…” Theo trailed off, “I know it’s a bad idea- it’s just…”
Bucky pulls away, a concerned expression littering his face, “What? What is it?”
Theo shakes his head, “I know it sounds crazy, but- I swore I saw Sarah right besides him.”
Bucky blinks at the unexpected answer before chuckling, “You are crazy.”
Theo scowls playfully, “Careful choosing your next words, Barnes, I’m not above giving you a concussion.”
Bucky hums, hugging the tall Omega even closer to his person, “That must make me even crazier for loving you.”
~
Blinking his eyes sluggishly open, Theo groaned at the throbbing of his skull, trying to rub his forehead which seemed to be the source of his irritation. However, his arms did nothing of the sort- instead it sent Theo into panic as he took in his surroundings. Arm and legs strapped to a metal table, Theo’s memory snapped into place as he remembered the mission his squadron was sent on.
“Awake, I see?” A voice chimed. “You know, I’ve never come across someone an Omega as extraordinary as you. You’re quite the anomaly.”
Theo’s head snapped toward the direction the voice emitted from and he glared at the short Beta speaking to him. “Let me out of here!” Theo hissed, pulling at the restrains tying him down.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that. You’re far too intriguing for me to simply throw away.” The Dr. stated, “For whatever reason, you were born bigger and stronger than the average Omega. Thankfully for me- it means you are far more resistant than all the others. Your body has already accepted the serum-“
“Where’s Bucky?!” Theo interrupted.
The Dr. hummed, “Sergeant Barnes. Your Alpha?” Zola inquired. Theo snarled at the short man.
“If you hurt a hair on his head-“
“I’ll take that as a ‘yes’.” Zola stated, adding to the notebook in his hands.
“Sedate him. Let’s move him to the main lab, there seems to be something else inside him which-“ An explosion goes off, shaking the building and Zola cuts himself short before pressing his lips together. “Get him out of here. Evacuate him now. I need him.”
..
“Did it hurt?” Bucky voices randomly, stumbling behind Steve on his own. Slowly regaining his consciousness, but his focus was mainly on the fact Steve was so damn tall all of a sudden, and smelling like apple pie.
“A little.” Steve shrugged, looking down the hallway and checking the coast.
“Is it permanent?” Bucky asks.
“So far.” Steve answers, motioning for Bucky to follow.
At the sight of Zola, Bucky growls, unable to stop himself as rage filled his person. “Where is he?” He yells.
Zola gives him a crooked smirk, “Alive.” Was all he said.
“Captain America! How Exciting! I’m a great fan of your films. So Dr. Erskine managed it after all. Not exactly an improvement, but still impressive.” Johann rants, head of Hydra.
Steve punches him in the face without hesitation. “You’ve got no idea”
“Haven’t I?” Johann leaps forward, aiming a punch at Steve but the Captain protects himself with his shield. As they fight, Zola pulls a leaver and the catwalk they are standing on retracts to either side, separating them both.
“No matter what lies Erskine told you, you see I was his greatest success!” Johann exclaims, peeling off the skin on his face to reveal that he is the Red Skull.
“You don’t have one of those, do you?” Bucky asks quietly.
“You are deluded, Captain. You pretend to be a simple soldier, but in reality you are just afraid to admit that we have left humanity behind. Unlike you, I embrace it proudly. Without fear!” The Red Skull states, stepping into an elevator with Zola at his side.
Despite Johann’s words, one major difference between them was Steve’s Apple Pie scent. The Red Skull smelt like nothing. He was no longer an Alpha. He indeed, like he said, had left his humanity behind.
“Then how come you’re running?” Steve argues as the elevator door closes. Sighing, the Captain directs Bucky to the stairs, “Come on, let’s go. Up.”
Steve and Bucky find a beam that’d get them to the other side of the Hydra base, toward the way out. If they want to escape, they had no other option but to cross.
“Let’s go. One at a time.” Steve advises, letting Bucky go first. Bucky reaches the other side but the metal beam collapses afterward, leaving Steve stranded.
“Gotta be a rope or something!” Bucky yells to Steve over the sound of the roaring fire of explosions beneath them.
“Just go! Get out of here!” Steve shouts back.
“No! Not without you!” Bucky states, and Steve sprints to the edge, jumping over the chasm of flames.
~
Returning to camp, cheers surrounded the survivors of the one-o-seven. It should be a time to celebrate, and for Steve’s sake it definitely was, but Bucky could only hope he’d be able to return Steve’s smile when he faced him next, despite how fake it would be.
But when Steve did, when Steve turned his head to his side, looking down at the now shorter Alpha- his smile vanished in seconds. Bucky had lost Theo, obviously there was still hope for the Omega. He was alive, Zola had said so himself. But what did that mean? What did that mean for Theo?
Bucky’s expression was dull, he looked like he barely had a will to continue. Bucky’s bright blue eyes, Theo often described them as diamonds- had shattered, they were now a shadowed grey, lifeless.
Steve felt conflicted. As a Alpha-dud, his pack was with Bucky and Theo. Normally he’s consider Theo his Omega as well, but with his sudden development into an Alpha- Steve felt that Peggy was now his Omega, his pack.
Although he never claimed Theo, the Omega’s neck still had Bucky’s bite. They had a connection Steve never understood. They could read each other and speak without words. Even feel each other’s pain to an extent.
Steve didn’t know what to do, Bucky would never return to his previous self unless they found Theo alive and returned to the camp, Steve had heard of stories about Alpha who’d lost their counterpart- none of them ended well.
..
Steve joins Bucky at the bar counter, the background was filled with everyone’s singing of joy. Bucky however looked like death himself, skin pale and with more than his usual stack of alcoholic beverages in front of him.
“See?” Bucky slurred, a smile on his face as he looked at Steve. But it didn’t reach his eyes. “I told you. They’re all idiots.”
“How about you?” Steve asked softly, still not used to acting or behaving like an Alpha. “You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?”
Bucky snorts as he chugs another glass empty. “Hell no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb to run away from a fight. I’m following him.” Bucky stated, leaning heavily against the table top. “But you’re keeping the outfit, right?”
“You know what? It’s kind of growing on me.” Steve replies.
The singing in the bar stops as Peggy rounds the bar in a tight fitting, deep-red dress heading straight toward Steve. Both Steve and Bucky stand up in acknowledgement.
“Captain.” Peggy greets, Bucky sniffles his nose at her scent. After bonding with Theo, all the other Omega’s smelt too sweet or not sweet enough.
“Agent Carter.” Steve responds with a small smile.
“Ma’am.” Bucky nods.
“Howard has some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?” Peggy suggests.
“Sounds good.” Steve agrees.
“I see your top squad is prepping for duty.” Peggy comments, looking over briefly at the drunk group of men singing to their hearts content. She frowns a little.
“You don’t like music?” Bucky voices.
“I do, actually. I might even when this is all over, go dancing.” She shrugs.
“Then what are you waiting for?” Bucky snorts turning back to face the bar.
“The right partner.” Carter answers without hesitation. “0800, Captain.”
“Yes, ma’am. I’ll be there.” Steve nods, waving goodbye as the agent walked off. Bucky grumbled under his breath as the agent left.
“We’re not going to give up, Buck. We’ll find him.” Steve promised
~
“You are failing!” The Red Skull screamed in Zola’s face, his expression was of nothing but pure rage. Practically roaring at the scientist with unhinged emotion.
Captain America and the Howling Commando’s had destroyed many of Hydra’s bases. Fuelled by winning the war and finding their lost Omega friend.
“We are close to an offensive network that will shake the plant. And yet we are continually delayed, because you cannot outwit a simpleton with a shield!” Red Skull growls. And Zola’s short stature shrunk even further at the intimidating and threatening stance the Red skull was loaming over him with.
“This is hardly my area of expertise. I… I merely develop the weapons. I… I cannot fire them.” Zola explains quickly, looking for any excuse to save his life and the continuation of his beloved work/ experimentations.
“And your experiment, Doctor? What of the Omega?” Johann asks.
“It will take more time. But I believe he’ll be a great asset.” Zola assures. “I haven’t an answer yet, but his blood has fused with some sort of power source, something that he looks to have been born with. I believe I can harness that power, given more time. Something is obstructing its full release and capabilities-”
Johann interrupts with a sigh, “Finish your mission, Doctor. Before the American finishes his. And make sure your little experiment is safe from his hands. Move the Omega to our more… secluded bases of operation.”
“Yes, sir.” Zola bows, glee in his eyes at the thought of his most upcoming experiment.
1953.
“Wake him.” The head doctor and scientist of Hydra orders, “The soldier’s having another fit.”
A low hissing noise fills the room as the ice-cold chamber melts in seconds, releasing a wave of steam into the room which blinded the group of anxious scientists for mere moments before exposing the resting form waiting within.
“Asset?” The doctor calls, standing a clear distance from the cylinder.
Not a second later and a black combat boot slams onto the ground, hands at the edge of the cyro-freezing chamber for support.
“Ready to comply.” The monotone voice of Theo whisks into the air, sending shivers down the doctor’s spines, Alpha or not- He was intimidating, that was a fact. The Alpha’s in the room stared at him wide-eyed, he was not the typical Omega at all. There was no doubt in their minds why he was paired with the Winter Soldier.
He was tall for an Omega; taller than most Beta’s and even Alpha’s- his height grew more as the serum began it’s work. Moving him from barely 5’10, to 6 foot. His body was fit, muscles spread across his entire body from years of training and discipline.
A quite apparent/obvious change in the Omega however was his hair, what was once midnight black strands of hair are now as white as freshly fallen snow. His electric honey golden eyes now a unnaturally glowing orange.
A blood red tattoo was branded onto the side of his neck, the symbol Hydra had also printed onto the Soldier’s metal arm. On the Asset’s neck was the recognisable red star of their cause, large and covering the majority of skin like a virus.
The head scientist nodded to the few soldiers’ in the room, and they wordlessly pulled Theo’s arms in front him and placed reinforced cuffs around his wrists. Without warning the shoved him forward, he stumbled just very slightly, easily able to catch himself and shift to walking in any direction they wished for him to go.
The walk was mostly a silent one, but everyone was rigid and tense with anticipation. While the Omega was restrained, he could, if he so wished, overpower many of the soldiers escorting him- even with the inhibitors restricting that uncontrolled power of his. Something which years ago, the Red Skull was becoming obsessed in finding the true source of.
Opening the door, random to the many lining the hallway, there inside was an empty confined room, the Asset was directed to a chair. Which he obediently took a seat upon, and as instructed- he simply waited. The mixture of doctor’s, scientist’s and soldiers hurriedly left the room, and Theo was left with his arms still stuck together in front of him by those specialised cuffs as the room delved into a darkness at the slamming of the cell door.
But he didn’t have to wait very long before loud shouts, orders and shuffled movement filled the end of the hall before approaching closer and closer with the sound of a struggle, then a body was thrown into the room, tossed harshly to the concrete before Theo’s feet as the door slamming after this stranger.
The man looked wild, his eyes flickering all over the place and his hair matted due to lack of grooming. His eyes pierced Theo’s causing his body to freeze in alert, but at the simple smell of Theo’s scent, the Soldier approached the cuffed Omega more confidently- more needy.
The soldier buried his nose to the Omega’s neck, finding the vanilla scent addictive, familiar and safe, despite missing all the memories associated with this person. The Asset’s eyes remained staring ahead, unfocused and dull like a robot. His posture was slumped and mouldable as the Soldier roughly pushed his head to the side, trying to gain as much access as possible to the gland before biting down on it.
Orange orbs narrowed at the pain and flickered over to meet the Alpha’s, earning a low growl from him. The soldier was animalistic, practically drooling as he sucked desperately at the taste of vanilla, it acted as a sort of medicine and calming agent.
The serum had increased the Soldier’s height as well, from 5’10 to 6 foot 2. His build overall was a lot bigger and more combat ready than the Asset’s muscular but lean one. Even with the enhancement of his body, Theo’s Omega genes still made his bones more brittle, light and fragile- physically stronger than an average Alpha but weaker than someone like the Soldier, especially when the Alpha had the aid of a vibranium man.
The Soldier’s metal fingers tightened their hold on Theo’s head of white hair, warning the Omega to back down; Theo reluctantly shifted his gaze back to the wall behind the Alpha.
Pulling at the Asset’s like a rag doll, the Soldier knocked over the wooden chair and dragged the Omega onto the concrete floor before shifting his body over Theo’s, trapping him to the ground.
The Asset couldn’t do anything to move, his hands were restrained and his legs were stuck on either side of the Alpha’s waist, he couldn’t kick the Soldier even if he wanted to. A low purring-like sound left the Alpha’s lips as he rested his ear against Theo’s chest, listening to the relaxing sound of the Omega’s steady and slow heartbeat.
He was stuck there for an hour before the Hydra soldiers waiting outside deemed it safe enough to quickly shoot a sedative at the Winter Soldier and remove the Alpha from the cell and back to his cyro-chamber.
Men rushed into the room upon noting the Soldier had been lured into deep and rare rest, most likely he’d be dragged first to the brainwashing chair the Asset knew all too well.
Theo was then hauled to his feet and ushered back into the Doctors lab. He was told to lie against the metal table, and without hesitation, Theo did as told. Robotically slipping onto the table and allowing his cuffs to be removed cautiously, before immediately being replaced with the inbuilt restraints into the table itself.
All precautionary, as Theo would guess he’d lashed out in the past, though he couldn’t recall ever doing so thanks to that memory-wiping chair.
The Doctor shuffled through his notebook and lab report before addressing the additional staff, they carefully cut away at the replaceable Hydra uniform Theo was wearing. Pulling the thin shirt from his body, the staff examined the long cut running down the lower half of Theo’s stomach.
“Good. No issues with healing the incision.” The head doctor commented. “Asset. We have a mission for you.”
2014.
The white-haired assassin fiddled with the familiar cuffs around his wrists, flexing his hands open and closed mindlessly. The Hydra agents seated around in in the van watched him warily as he become more impatient. Theo’s orange orbs flickering lowly around the van as it drove at high speeds, dodging and weaving traffic at the command for reinforcement, Theo was careful not to meet anyone’s eyes, that’d only result in punishment for displaying rebellious tendencies.
Skidding to a very fast stop, one of the many Hydra agents wearing a fake SWAT uniform comes to stand in front of the Asset, he fumbles hurriedly with a small electronic key before unlocking the assassin’s cuffs with a quick scan. The inhibitors were deactivated.
The Asset stands without hesitation and follows the agents out of the back of the van as it’s doors are kicked open, his mask was locked tightly into place and couldn’t be taken off without a similar mechanism to the electronic key that had previously been used by that Hydra agent earlier. It kept the Asset’s identity hidden from people that could identify him as Theo King. But it’s true use was as a muzzle, keeping the Asset from lashing out when they tested on him. Keeping his mouth shut until they wanted otherwise.
Marching up to the black government issued SUV, reinforced no doubt as it was littered with unsuccessful shots at the windows. Nick Fury glanced out the window in fright as the Asset’s form marched closer to his window, quickly he slid over to the passenger’s seat. He was expecting a battering ram. Not some juiced up mercenary with hauntingly orange glowing eyes.
The Assassin pulled his fist back-
“Warning! Window integrity compromised.” Fury’s car system warned, red lights flashing all over the place.
Theo’s forearm erupted into black flame and smoke, which soon died to reveal blackened skin and claw-like nails- it was something demonic looking for sure.
The window shatters as a fist meets it, but it doesn’t brake. Fury looks at the white-haired male with surprise and horror. He had no idea of what he was. But he needed to know who he was. No normal human could smash a reinforced SHEILD SUV with just their fists.
“You think?” Fury panic’s, “How long to propulsion?” He inquires the AI.
“Calculating-“ Another hit to the window, “Window integrity thirty-one percent. Deploying countermeasures-“
“Hold that order!” Fury quickly interrupts. Another hit to the window.
“Window integrity nineteen percent. Offensive measures advised-“
“Wait!” Fury growls. Another hit.
“Window integrity one percent.”
“Now!” Fury orders and without delay a small mini-gun pulls up from the inside of the car and Fury wastes no time using it to return fire on the mercenaries.
The Asset shields his face with his arms. Bullets ripped through the skin on his arms, but never got past the bulletproof armour he had covering his chest. The force of the attack sent him to the ground and by the time the bullets were pushed from his arms as his skin healed- the target was racing away in his car.
“Target on the move.” One of the surviving agents said, speaking into the device on his wrist. “Moving Asset to the Soldier’s location.”
The agent waved over a passing Hydra van, and the Asset took himself a seat. Skin regaining it’s naturally pale tone, it revealed Theo’s arms coated in blood, but incredibly the wounds were already halfway through its healing process.
When the van came to its stop, the doors were opened and Theo jumped from the vehicle, landing effortlessly on the road just as the Soldier detonated the remote explosive he’d shot underneath the target’s SUV.
Fury’s vision was blurry as he recomposed himself, he glanced at his attackers, eyes wide at the new masked threat. And he was shocked to see the white-haired male still alive at all and without indicating pain or injury.
Unclipping his pistol from his belt, the Asset stayed back while the Soldier approached the vehicle, ready for any surprise escape attempts on foot.
Trapped inside his upside down car, Fury watches as the mysterious new threat walked slowly toward him, reloading his gun as he did so. Fury however manages to escape just in time by using a pencil-sized laser to burn open a sewage entrance.
The Soldier rips the damaged door off its hinges with his metal arm, there is however no one inside, prompting him to clip his weapon back into place and return to the Asset’s side as they waited for a pick up.
Not a second later and the same van Theo was on previously pulled up to a stop and the back doors swung open for both of them.
The Asset was promptly ushered back into the van, the Soldier pushing him forward with a hand at the back of his neck. The Asset glared back at the Soldier and his small display of dominance. Entering the van and taking a seat, Theo’s hands were quickly cuffed once more (inhibitors activated) before returning to base.
Mission was a failure.
At his home Alexander Pierce goes to his kitchen, and opens his fridge to pull out a carton of milk. He pauses as he sees the Winter Soldier seated at his table, just barely visible within the shadows, a gun however was very visible as the light shined and reflected off of it, the Soldier pulls it out as Pierce’s Housekeeper calls out to him from the other side of the wall.
“I’m going to go, Mr. Pierce. You need anything before I leave?” She calls out.
“No. Uh…” Pierce pauses as from behind the Solder, and Theo comes into view. “…it’s fine, Renata, you can go home.” He replies.
“Okay, night-night.” She calls in farewell.
“Good night.” Pierce responds, his eyes never leaving the two in front of him. “Want some milk?” He offers as Renata closes the door behind her. The Soldier doesn’t reply, and Pierce certainly doesn’t expect the Asset to either. His mask-like muzzle restricted him physically from saying a word.
“The timetable has moved. Our window is limited. Two targets, Level Six” Piece picks up his glass of milk and joins the Soldier at the table. He stills slightly as he sniffs the air, “Seems like your suppressants are fading, Omega.” Pierce hums, a smile on his face as he shifts his gaze to the Asset. Pierce could feel his inner Alpha groan at the smell and he'll admit that he had a struggle to remain composed in front of the two assassin’s. Theo’s sweet scent of vanilla bean, typically you’d never think to use suppressants on an Omega. It can become incredibly damaging to the body. But it didn’t take long for Doctor’s and Hydra agents alike to realise the serum had altered the smell of his scent.
Zola theorised that because Theo’s body had been changed further, more masculine and Alpha, overall less Omega- his hormones were trying to counteract the imbalance by making his scent more potent. It got to the point where Hydra had no choice but to place the Omega on suppressants in order to stop other Alpha’s from trying to breed with him.
Technically his scent shouldn’t even be as strong as a normal Omega, because he bonded with Bucky. He has an Alpha, so his body no longer has the need to try ‘seduce’ other Alpha’s.
Yet something in the serum made his inner Omega feel un-bonded, the scent was a problem even for mated/ bonded Alpha’s whom should be repulsed by the smell of another Omega- yet this again was not the case.
While on suppressants, only the Soldier was able to still smell Theo’s scent. And that again, was just because they were bonded. Hydra used it to their advantage of course, when either the Asset or Soldier became unstable- it was a simple as putting the two together in the same space.
Swallowing his mouthful of milk, Pierce continued, “They already cost me Zola. I want a confirmed death in ten hours-“ Renata (the housekeeper) walks back into the room, cutting Pierce off.
“Sorry, Mr. Pierce, I… I forgot my phone.” She stammers noticing the two figures in the dark.
Pierce clicks his tongue in annoyance, “Oh, Renata. I wish you would have knocked.” He grumbles, picking up the gun the Winter Soldier had placed on the table and shooting at her without hesitation, killing her in seconds with an experience shot centre of her head.
“Get him some suppressants immediately and be on your way.” Pierce orders the Soldier, Winter nods his head, standing up and disappearing without a trace, Theo following his example.
Reaching HQ, the Hydra agents had a hard time separating the Soldier from the Asset, Winter was snarling, growling and snapping at those that got too close. Theo kept his gaze to the ground, letting the agents drag the Soldier away, much to Theo’s regret as every instinct in his body is screaming at him to stay by the Soldier’s side.
The Asset returned to the Lab, his usual destination within Hydra as the Doctor injects a large dose of suppressants, distributing the shots around Theo’s body. Before examining his body once over before the mission early tomorrow morning.
~
Inside a bank vault, many Hydra agents move around the chair the Soldier is confined to, fixing his broken arm. The Soldier looks in front of him, eyes blank, mind empty.
“Sir, he’s… he’s unstable. Erratic.” A Hydra scientist warns Pierce as he storms into the bank vault. Rumlow is by his side as they make their way in front of the dazed Winter Soldier.
“Mission report.” Pierce demands. “Mission report, now.” He repeats, a frustrated sigh leaves mouth as the Soldier remains stubbornly silent. Something was obviously plaguing the weapon.
“Where’s the Omega?” Pierce growls, eyes looking around him and daring someone to speak.
“The Asset is still under- it takes time for his body to adjust to the suppressants.” One of the scientists answer.
Pierce growls at the answer, it meant harder control over the Soldier when he became like this.
“The man on the bridge… Who was he?” The Soldier voices, catching Pierce’s attention.
“You met him earlier this week on another assignment.” Pierce answers quickly.
“I knew him.” Winter mumbles.
“Your work has been a gift to mankind. You shaped the century, and I need you to do it one more time. Society is at a tipping point between order and chaos. Tomorrow morning we’re gonna give it a push. But, if you don’t do your part, I can’t do mine, and Hydra can’t give the world the freedom it deserves.” Pierce states, like reading a script said a thousand times previously.
“But I knew him.” The soldier pushed.
“Prep him.” Pierce orders.
“He’s been out of cryo-freeze too long.” A scientist voices.
“Then wipe him and start over.” Pierce hisses, “And while you’re at it, keep the Omega under and send him to Siberia. The Soldier will follow after the mission.” Pierce states.
2016.
Bucky groaned as his eyes open and he regained consciousness, blinking sluggishly for his vision to focus before realising his metal arm was trapped in a huge vice. He tugged at the restraint but his arm didn’t move an inch. Eyes flickering about the place, he concluded quickly that he’d been brought to a warehouse of some kind- Bucky flinched as a helicopter flew overhead, and worry filled him at the thought of being caught yet again.
But then his attention was brought elsewhere when he heard shuffling steps, and in his line of vision was Sam Wilson, leaning against a pillar.
“Hey, Cap!” Sam called out, the raise in volume had Bucky subtly duck down instinctually to hide, were they trying to be caught?
Steve no sooner rounded the corner past Sam and eyed Bucky cautiously as he approached.
“Steve.” Bucky recalled in an exhausted drawl.
Steve clenched his jaw, “Which Bucky am I talking to?”
Bucky paused, face displaying a blank expression as he realised he did remember, or he remembered more than he did before, in fact he remembered that-
“Your mom’s name is Sarah.” Bucky blurted, before chuckling at another memory, “You used to wear newspapers in your shoes…”
Steve almost smiled, “You can’t read that in a museum.”
“And just like that we’re supposed to be cool?” Sam huffed, narrowing his eyes at Bucky but directing the question to Steve.
Bucky frowned, “What did I do?”
“Enough.” Steve stated.
Bucky sighed, lowing his gaze further, “I knew this would happen... Everything Hydra put inside of me is still there. All he had to do was say the goddamn words.”
“Who was he?” Steve inquired.
“I don’t know.” Bucky admitted.
Steve shook his head, “People are dead- the bombing, the set-up- the doctor did all that just to get 10 minutes with you. I need you to do better than ‘I don’t know’.”
Bucky frowned, looking at his feet as he racked through his muddled memory for an answer that would be of actual help, and like a switch he begun remembering.
“He wanted to know about Siberia… Where I was kept. He wanted to know exactly where…” Bucky trailed off, just as confused as the Steve and Sam were.
“Why would he need to know that?” Steve pushed.
Bucky instantly slumped at the answer which came into his head, “Because I’m not the only Winter Soldier.”
Steve and Sam followed Bucky’s action and slumped their shoulders in mild defeat at such an undesirable response, containing Bucky had been difficult on its own- for there to be more…
“Who were they?” Steve eventually asked, taking Sam’s approach to lean against one of the warehouse pillars.
“The most elite death squad, more kills than anyone in Hydra history, and that was before the serum.” Bucky spilled robotically, the information drilled into the depth of his brain.
“They all turn out like you?” Sam voiced.
“Worse.” Bucky whispered, but was still heard.
“The doctor, could he control them?” Steve questioned.
“Enough.”
“(The doctor) Said he wanted to see an empire fall.” Steve quoted.
“With these guys he could do it. They speak 30 languages, can hide in plain sight, infiltrate, assassinate, destabilise- they can take a whole country down in one night and you’d never see them coming.” Bucky spoke in a monotone, cringing at the information popping up into his head as he spoke.
Sam ushered Steve closer to him for a private conversation, Bucky wasn’t bothered to listen to them, more so his head was flashing quickly with random memories that didn’t seem to be in any order, it wasn’t until one in particular enter his head that Bucky jolted at his instincts flaring to life, he still had an Omega to find.
~
Theo awoke with a sharp gasp of air, as pain radiated from his chest, he reached quickly to place pressure upon the wound, a gunshot through-
“You know, you should be dead.” Someone drawled in an exhausted tone. “That went right through your heart.”
Theo’s eyes flashed to the source, seeing an familiar face looking right back at him, someone he’d seen and read about in Hydra files, but had yet to ever meet in person (in a likely assassination). Eyes drifting to the environment around them, Theo concluded that the Hydra base was no longer in function, a sigh of relief almost left his lips as he spotted the dead bodies still within their cryo-chambers, that elite death squad scared him- the stories of their strength even against someone like his Alpha, the Winter Soldier.
“Hey-“ Theo’s eyes darted back to the wounded man, “What’s your name?”
“I’m the Asset.” Theo responded cautiously in a low robotic tone as he pushed himself out of his own cryo-chamber, landing with stumbling unsteady feet thanks to that blood-loss.
“You’re Hydra.” The stranger realised, “You look so young…”
Theo said nothing to the man, deciding instead to stumble in the direction of the other cryo-chambers around the corner, needing to confirm they were permanently gone to the world.
“They’re dead.”
“I know.” Theo responds, eyes lingering over the bodies without glowing orange souls.
“Hydra’s gone, kid.” The man shares, “They’ve been gone a while.”
“Did the Soldier survive?” Theo asks.
Tony Stark goes rigid at the question, rage fuels him quickly before leaving just as fast- “I’m not sure.”
Theo nods with a sigh that caught Tony off guard, “Why?” He blurted, curiosity getting the better of him.
Theo frowns, crossing his arms tightly to his chest, “That’s my Alpha.”
Tony was shocked, “You’re Omega?”
“Yes.” Theo confirmed.
Tony clears his throat, pushing away the many questions swarming in his head, “What’re you going to do now?”
Theo thought about the question, knowing that the Stark was only asking to make sure Theo didn’t intend on continuing Hydra’s legacy, Theo didn’t have much to say, he didn’t even know where to start- his only memories were of Hydra and nothing but.
“I don’t know.” Theo admitted, the Winter Soldier needed him more than Theo needed to see the Soldier, Alpha’s relied on Omega once bonded- whereas Theo could last a lifetime without his Alpha- especially considering he didn’t have any feelings for the brute, or at least, none that he remembered.
Tony bit his lip in thought, “Do you know where they kept their research files? I might be able to find more on you that way…”
Theo hesitated before nodding and guiding the limping billionaire through the facility.
“You are a lot less hostile than, Barnes.” Tony commented, spotting Theo’s confused expression he corrected himself, “Sorry, the Soldier I mean.”
Theo eyed the man before continuing down a narrow hallway.
“Just as quiet though.” Tony sighed.
Tony frowned, “Why haven’t you killed me?”
“I haven’t been assigned a mission or given orders.” Theo stated, “And you do not pose any threat to me.”
Tony scrunched his face up in offense, but silently agreed with the Hydra weapon whom he just now noticed, was no longer clutching at the bullet wound- that would certainly give the Omega an advantage. Added with the fact that Tony had discarded his broken suit back in the control room. Theo also had a good height and muscle advantage as well.
Entering the filing room, Tony darted to the old computer running on fumes. Fingers dancing across the keys, Tony seemed to find the code for the file he wanted- or two, considering he first went to the cabinets to the left before collecting another file to the right.
Dragging a stool over to a desk, which Tony cleared with the sweep of his arm, he opened the first file.
“Theodore King, a medical officer in one-o-seven squadron. Class: Omega. 18 years old upon capture- seems like someone lied about their enlistment age…” Tony mumbled. “… You’re enhanced.”
Tony turned to face the assassin, “Mind telling me what you can do?”
Theo frowned but released the sensitive information after reminding himself that Hydra was compromised if not completely destroyed, “I’m not sure how to explain it.”
“Try for me, kid.” Tony insisted.
Theo sighed, leaning against the edge of the desk Tony was occupying, “Imagine there are two… worlds on top of each other- both existing at the same time.”
“Like alternate dimensions?”
“No. Most people can either be in one world or the other-“
“Most?”
“Well that’s my enhancement. I walk on both.”
“Okay, tell me more about this other world, is it dangerous?”
“It can be, if I let it.” Theo frowned.
“Ok, and can you take anyone there?” Tony asked.
“Well yes, sort of.” Theo mumbled, “I’d have to kill you.”
Tony froze at such words, but relaxed at Theo’s lack of movement, he then put together all the pieces Theo had given him, “Wait- you’re telling me, you can interact the with dead?”
Theo grimaced at the description but nodded, “Yes.”
Tony pursed his lips before looking to Theo with a rather serious expression.
“I want you to prove it.”
Soot stained fingers grazed the pane of glass, a black smudge appearing over the photo beneath. Tearful eyes gazed back at Vera, unblinking in their frozen misery. The boy looked how she felt; frustrated despair at his lot in life. New marks joined the glass, tracing a distinct swirl over the boy’s prominent eyebrow, as a smile formed faintly over the girl’s lips.
Vera had taken refuge in the coalstore. She wasn’t sure what had brought on her Stepfather’s anger today, but he had screamed and beaten her. New bruises were already forming, joining the preexisting splotches of purple and jagged scars which already littered the girl’s body.
Eventually, she’d managed to escape his wrath. A slave had begged Misericors to cease his onslaught, providing a brief moment of distraction which Vera seized immediately. She had run through her home, finding her usual hiding spot - the only one yet to be discovered - and curled up amongst the dark stones.
The picture had been hidden here weeks ago. At first, it was a symbol of her misfortune - a reminder that her current hell would lead to an equally miserable future. But in recent days, the boy’s face had become a cherished treasure. Her betrothed was clearly unhappy - her mother had described him as the disappointment of his family. Perhaps his circumstance was similar to hers.
Shaking hands brought the frame close to Vera’s heart. She knew that it was wrong to wish misfortune on someone else. But part of her hoped that he knew her pain. That he knew what a life of constant misery and fear was like. Surely he did, if the photos of his brothers beating the poor blonde gave any indication.
“He’s the runt of the litter, far weaker than his siblings. Perfect for a waste like you.” Her mother’s voice echoed in the young witch’s mind.
“Please.” Vera whispered. “Let him be kind.”
***
Deep wooden panels were the first thing Vera saw upon opening her eyes. That and a dim ceiling light, swaying with the movement of the ship.
Her head throbbed, her stomach cried, and her mouth was dry. How long had she been out? The last thing the witch remembered was a battle with some marines. There were cannonballs and chaos. Loud booms dominated the air. And bullets.
That was it! Vera had used her magic to spirit away all the bullets on the enemy ship. And subsequently fainted. She sat up and took in her surroundings.
She found herself in the sickbay, sitting atop a thin mattress with a sheet of white cotton draped across her form. Judging by the looming darkness outside the single porthole, the sun had been set for at least a few hours. Vera perked her ears and listened intently, but no sound reached her ears aside from the soft creak of the Sunny and the gentle lapping of waves along her hull.
Evidently, the battle had ended in a victory for the Strawhats. Otherwise, she’d have woken up in a cell aboard the marine ship or not at all. A sigh of relief passed her lips as she came to this realization. She was alive, and her new friends were safe.
Snoring interrupted the girl’s thoughts, bringing her attention to the far corner of the room. A figure sat, leaning against the armrest of an uncomfortable looking chair. Blonde hair and a disheveled suit revealed the visitor’s identity.
Sanji was fast asleep, his expression peaceful as a thin trail of drool fell from his lips. Vera almost chuckled at this before noticing redness on his nose and the skin around his eye. His lashes seemed to glisten in the dim light. Had he been crying?
Vera stood, padding softly over to her crewmate. Approaching, she noticed a glass of orange juice and a plate of cookies sitting on the counter to Sanji’s side. Both were untouched, leaving the girl to assume they’d been meant for her - to restore her energy levels.
Her lips curved into a smile that crinkled her eyes. “What am I going to do with you?” She whispered and gently reached outward, sweeping away the man’s bangs with the lightest touch to reveal his other eye.
Swirled eyebrows furrowed as Sanji frowned, his eyelids parting slowly. Cerulean orbs threatened to overflow as their eyes met, striking Vera with a wave of nostalgia.
She inhaled sharply, finding herself thrust backwards in time. An eight year old girl hidden amongst piles of coal, a picture held close to her chest.
“It’s you.” Vera breathed the words, barely audible to the confused man inches before her. “My salvation.”
***
The sun beat down, harsh light reflecting off gentle waves and white sand. Vera brought her knees closer to her chest, staying well within the circle of shade provided by the large umbrella.
Scents of caramelized fruits and cooking meat wafted through the air from the barbecue just meters away. Vera’s stomach growled audibly, though she did not react. Her gaze remained locked on the sand which shifted between her toes.
Nami’s voice could be heard, energetic and melodic. Whatever she’d said, it must have been quite funny. Sanji laughed loudly - a deep belly laugh that was sure to be accompanied by a breathtaking smile. The witch couldn’t bring herself to look though. She’d been unable to even look at the cook since her embarrassing statement in the sickbay.
If only she had an invisibility spell at her disposal. She’d have used it to evade the man these last several days. But alas, she did not. True to his nature, he had continued on as though nothing had happened. And so Vera found herself a silent, blushing mess each time Sanji tried to interact with her.
“Blackleg-ya sent this.” Vera’s gaze rose to meet golden eyes, adorned with dark bags. Tattooed hands offered a plate of kabobs, juicy and appetizing.
“Thanks, Law.” She took the plate gratefully, chowing down as the man sat beside her.
Trafalgar Law. He was a surgeon and pirate captain who’d allied with the Strawhats. He’d joined up with the crew recently, seeming to gel with the boisterous crew easily enough despite his dour personality.
Reaching over, he took a kabob from Vera’s plate and began eating, the dark lines of ink on his exposed torso capturing her attention. “Can’t swim?” The question sounded more like a statement through Law’s full mouth. When Vera raised an eyebrow in confusion, he only nodded towards the sea where the rest of their companions frollicked through the waves.
The witch returned her gaze to the sand, her free hand drawing absentminded circles. “Didn’t feel like it.” She shrugged before bringing another stick of meat to her mouth.
Law hummed in response, leaning back to rest on his arms. For a moment, he studied her form. She wore a black bikini and matching sunhat, a lace shawl draped over her shoulders. The end of a scar could be seen poking out from beneath the delicate fabric on her left arm. “Seems to me you’re distracted.”
Vera huffed, handing the now empty plate back to him. “If your only objective was stating the obvious, you could have started with it.”
Law chuckled in response, his golden earrings clanking  as his head shook. “Just trying to understand.” He smirked at her then, his expression irritating the witch. “So, when are you going to stop sulking in jealousy and tell Blackleg-ya how you feel?”
Vera sputtered, her eyes wide and mouth agape as she turned toward her companion. “I-I don’t know what you mean!” Her voice came out louder than intended, drawing unwanted attention. She was a sea of emotions, the devious glint in Law’s eyes bringing panic to the forefront.
“I’m only making a suggestion. I’m sure he’d be overjoyed to have a proper confession.”
“A confession?” Vera jumped, caught off guard by Robin’s voice entering the conversation. When had she gotten so close?
“Who’s Vera confessing to?” Nami had joined the ravenette, her words and expression dripping with curiosity.
“What’s a confession?” Luffy tilted his head in confusion.
Usopp blushed, pulling his captain’s ear. “You seriously don’t know what they’re talking about?!”
Vera glared at Law, trying and failing to ignore the crowd forming around them.
“My oh my, can it be?!” Sanji now spun from his post at the barbecue, hands clutched in excitement. “Is love in the air?!”
It was all too much. Vera felt her breath quicken as her friends crowded the small area of shade, her nerves becoming shot. Quickly, she stood and shouted. “Everybody stop!”
The group fell silent, their eyes fixated on Vera’s left arm. Except for Sanji, who’d succumbed to a nosebleed at the sight of Vera’s bikini-clad body now on full display. Following the crews’ gazes, Vera realized what had grasped their attention so ardently.
Black fabric pooled in the sand at her feet, her shawl having fallen in her haste. Vera brought her hand to cover the scar, but it was already too late. Tears formed in her eyes, falling fast in hot trails that stained pale cheeks.
“Vera.” Nami reached out a hand, attempting to comfort the girl. But before she could make contact, Vera ran.
She bolted to the Sunny, sand tracking behind as bare feet met wood. A door. She needed to find a door.
Spotting the entrance to the girls’ dorm, she rushed toward it. She nearly tripped before slamming palms first into the thick panel. Shouts could be heard just off the sunny, stirring more panic to swell within her.
Uttering a spell with such speed that she almost questioned whether it’d be effective, she opened the door. Only once it’d been slammed shut behind her did Vera breathe a sigh of relief.
Reaching the girls dorm, Nami spoke to announce her presence before opening the door. She’d expected to find Vera within, likely attempting to hide. But the room was empty. When Robin had caught up, the two tore the room apart in search of their companion.
Their efforts proved fruitless.
Staggering to her feet, Vera moved to the window on the room’s opposite end. Despite the only thing visible being an endless void of inky black, the simple act of drawing the curtain closed brought solace.
Upon releasing the fabric, she turned to face a round mirror. Its surface was dusty and cracked, but Vera could still make out her reflection. She padded over, her feet scattering bullets and books. A small cup sat upon a vanity just below the reflective disc.
Trembling fingers rose as more tears fell, lightly brushing the marred skin. The mark was an angry red, glossy from its time healing. Four triangles and a circle. The Hoof of the Soaring Dragon - a mark of ownership. The label given to slaves of the world nobles.
To The Moon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Got this adorable idea at work. Blind date gone wrong and the guys jump in to save the day. :)
...
Dressed up in a shimmering floor length cocktail dress with glittery wedges, makeup and pins in your braided bun to match you were locked in an urge to both remain stoic and keep from bursting into tears. The supposed ‘great guy’ you were set up with, who was ‘ready to get back on the horse’ of the dating world after a messy breakup, had both shushed and ignored you for most of the first course of the meal through the live show anyone was rarely able to get tickets to without a blood sacrifice or be able to drop a mortgage payment in one go. And here he was practically with binoculars spying in his ex across the way who as you’d seen him check her live feed a million times since he picked you up and first shushed you to hear the audio reading app that fed into his car Bluetooth system to read her posts as they aired the entire way here. But he’d already pulled away from the curb and you vainly loved your intact epidermis and new outfit to throw yourself out the window on the highway.
But a slight break in the show and a swap of courses and you slipped out of the table and auditorium. Headed to a worker outside in the lobby with armfuls of brooms and dustpans aiming to be ready for the showtime swap who seemed stunned but overly helpful to assist in giving the written address of where you were to give to a cab service.
$27, that was all you had in cash for the driver who refused to take cards. So ten went to the fare and teetering on the brink of tears you were let out outside the Smithsonian. Where you aimed to take a solitary walk to calm down and try to distract yourself as you somewhat showed off your overly dressed self to impress anybody tonight, as you had aimed to feel at least wanted after a travesty of a breakup yourself your supposed friend from work had tried to help you get back up on the horse yourself.
And yet in front of the wooly mammoth exhibit you huffed in a glimpse at a reflection of a streak of your eye liner from failing to stop a tear from breaking free. To the aim of a try to find a bathroom you turned and froze seeing a man with smudged raccoon like black war paint on his face around his eyes and brows in tactical gear complete with weapons across his body. Mask in hand the brilliantly blue eyed man blinked as his free hand brushed his chestnut hair out of his face, “See you dressed up for the new exhibit too.” He said playfully making the grey and red winged suit clad man beside him snicker and look away to keep from laughing longer, having noticed as Bucky had that a familiar face who randomly dropped by the tower to see Tony they always seemed to miss the chance to talk to was here.
“You’re the guy,” you said pointing at the banner on the corner at the end of the wall naming the next exhibit as the newly updated Captain America exhibit with the so named Bucky Barnes pictured underneath the Captain named down the middle of the colorful banner.
“Steve was asked to drop off some things,” he said after a quick nod, “Then we’re off.” His eyes scanned over you as you tried to steal a look at your reflection again to subtly fix the streak only making it worse. “You okay? I can punch somebody if they bothered you.” He said making Sam grin wider at the clear offer to help the distressed pretty lady Bucky had openly been following while trying to think of a cool pickup line as Sam had told him to try to give dating a go finally after years of being pushed to do so.
“No, he’s at the show three blocks over. I’m,” softly you sighed, “Forming a shambled plan get home, they had a sign, the atm is broken and cabs only take cash now apparently and the cookie patrol took most of mine the other day.”
Sam asked, “Why is he three blocks over and you’re here alone? He stand you up?”
“No,” you said sheepishly and looked away. Trying not to cry again, making them both step closer as Rhodey in his suit came around them to see what they were distracted by.
“You okay Miss?”
Nodding and shrugging you said, “Ya,” sniffling as you blinked a few times to try and keep calm. Only making him look at the guys on his left.
Bucky asked, “You came here from the show? What’d he do? Offer stands I’ll go punch him.”
In a roll of your eyes to keep tears from gathering in your eyes again you drew in a deep breath as Rhodey shuffled his weight on his feet, then you explained, “I got set up on a date. Supposed ‘great guy’ but he shushed me in the car-,”
“He shushed you!” Sam and Rhodey whispered angrily to Bucky’s eyes narrowing protectively.
“All so he could listen to the audio reading of the live feed of the ex he supposedly is ready to get ‘back up on the horse’ after dating. My choices were stay in the car or leap out onto the highway. Apparently I was there to make her jealous and he didn’t so much as look at me for the seating debacle. Which is putting it lightly, practically had to be airlifted in to my seat for how strenuous they try to make the supposed elite seating look. It’s two gates and four steps to the door no matter where you sit in our section, or in ordering what was supposed to be a good appetizer,” you held up two fingers.
“Two pieces of toast with a cough of grated cheese and a slice of the tiniest blandest tomato in the world. I know women who would weep knowing they were passing that off as authentic Italian cuisine! All that was missing was a pair of binoculars for him to be spun all the way around in his seat to watch her all night! So I left, but the cab won’t take credit and I had enough to get here and pay the ticket fee thinking the atm was working, but it’s not.
Rest of this town is gung ho to go digital, looking at you like you walked in with a ruck sack off a three month train binge you so much as have exact change for gas. And now this guy is part of a wrench in the whole scheme that makes my daily commute fifty minutes longer as they can’t sustain power or keep up the facade that everyone loves the digital life! Especially when billionaire scientists are tripping the power grids for half the borough every other week! We’re not all billionaires unable to hold our paychecks in our pockets! I like my coin purse, thank you very much, as much as the next person who likes a hefty bit of jingle on hand to flick into a machine or looking glass when you get stuck waiting on a bridge or building with a view.” You said with voice fading off in a look at the guys uncertain if they would start laughing at you for he absurd you felt at that moment.
Rhodey said in a shake of his head, “Ya he’s not getting away with that.”
Sam nodded and sternly asked, “Where’d he park?”
“In the garage.”
“Where in the garage?” Rhodey asked, “We’re gonna go egg his car,” he said parting your lips.
Sam nodded saying, “First we’re gonna let you have a sneak peek of the exhibit then we’re gonna go buy some eggs.”
Softly you huffed and said as you felt the grit of another line of makeup being brushed down your other cheek as you brushed away a sudden tear you didn’t feel gather but felt fall to the exposed bit of your chest to soak into the neckline beneath it. “I, have to fix my face.”
Bucky said plainly, “No you don’t, make it look like we’re a couple, matchy matchy.”
Sam and Rhodey both felt an urge to look at their friend. Only to grin at the restrained giggle that had a grin split across your face and eyes give a hint of an amused shimmer to show an internal light there of a usually bubbly person under this frustrating evening that had drawn him like a moth to a flame. “I have to find a bathroom.” Bucky turned sideways gesturing to the door a bit more down the hall behind them and watched you pass, seeing Sam give him a thumbs up on the smile worthy cheesy comment behind your back.
The assassin grinned to himself as Steve came out of the exhibit to hear Rhodey say plainly as an order, “We’re gonna take a new friend of Bucky’s through the exhibit and buy eggs to go egg her ex date who shushed then ignored her.” Instantly having the Super Soldier agree as it was a means to help his best friend help this mysterious stranger.
The whole group was waiting when you came out of the bathroom to what you imagine would have been a hallucination of some concussive head injury of an accident you couldn’t remember, thanks to said accident. Right there they stood and all you could say in seeing the line of armed men in tactical armor was, “Somehow I feel underdressed.”
Bucky grinned and offered his gloved hand to say, “Let’s go show you some old stuff, Rhodey’s pricing out our shopping list through his suit system so we get the best bang for our buck.”
“Eggs don’t go bang,” you said resting your hand in his while your other hand held the left side of your clutch and high slitted cocktail dress to not have it tangle around your feet in the turn.
And lowly he chuckled, “Ours will. Guy’s two inches from a stalker, and kidnapper, a moron on top of that, treating you so poorly, got it coming. I’m Bucky, can I ask your name?”
“Pluto,” you said widening his kind grin your way that you looked away from to not blush widening his grin.
“Ever been to the moon Pluto?” Steve asked making you look over your shoulder at him.
“I’m a secret shopper, that’d be a hard no.” You said making him chuckle.
Steve said, “Well after this we’re meant to go drop things off to the Reed Richards station in orbit near the moon. You hungry?”
“Yes,” you replied timidly, “I am hungry. What does that have to do with the moon?”
Sam asked, “You wanna have dinner in orbit around the moon?” He asked making your mouth drop open to free a squeak from you out of shock.
Rhodey nodded, “We’ll take that as a hard yes,” smiling your way.
Needless to say an awkward stare off at the hatch of the space travel adapted jet with Black Widow broke as she jumped in on the new mission and flew you to the chosen store to get everything.
The news would later display security footage of the Avengers dismantling and disfiguring the now bare frame and seats of the vehicle you were brought to the show in written with a warning note to treat women better. But by then you were landed on the station and holding the flowers Bucky had bought for you, now staring at Johnny Storm who said, “Now this just isn’t fair! Reed said I can’t bring dates to the station!” And turned with a scoff to get back to his duties after having opened the hatch to the landing dock for you all.
Stark came into sight several turns and halls later, saying, “You’re late! Now we’ll have to wait twelve hours to get lined up right for the re-entry to miss the meteor shower passing by.” His eyes swept over you and he asked, “Why’d you bring my secret shopper on board?”
Dinner for two was assembled and now the bathed and changed Bucky sat across you for a far more impossible start to try and get out there again. Matchy matchy in gifted outfits from the station so you could change into something more comfortable eating the best food to be had thanks to Vision with his five star cuisine lessons to back his try to help make this evening special for his teammate.
A date orbiting the moon would be hard to top. But for your second date he sure as hell made you feel just as weightless from the moment his eyes landed on you to when you were able to climb back into bed. Traces of a chaste stolen kiss left upon your cheek as you dreamed of what a possible third date could have in store for you.
Rectify | Bucky Barnes
Tumblr media
Part 1/37 | Part Two
Summary: I've lived every day for the past five years looking over my shoulder. I knew they'd come for me, it was inevitable. I was foolish to think I could outrun my past. It's followed me everywhere I go, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Never would I have anticipated that the shadows would lead me to the light.
Bucky Barnes x OC
Series Warnings: Discussion of human trafficking, alcohol consumption, graphic depictions of violence, sexual content, discussion of suicidal thoughts.
a/n: Hi everyone, thank you for checking this out, I appreciate any and all support! This series is also posted on Ao3 and Wattpad if you prefer those formats/platforms! This is a completed series, and it's going to take some time for me to transfer it to Tumblr, so please bear with me!
Memory is fragile. It can be corrupted, suppressed, removed from the subconscious. Memory is what makes us, us, in a way. One day when you're old memories are all you will have left, if you're lucky. Sometimes people aren't fortunate enough to retain those memories, be it from disease, or trauma, or deliberation.
I look at the clock hanging on the wall in my office and close my laptop with a soft click. Tucking the laptop between my torso and arm, I grab my keys so I can lock my office behind me. My heels click on the polished tile floor as I head to my next class, the last one of the day. I should be relieved that the day is almost over with, but this is the class I dread the most. The majority of the students seem uninterested and it's discouraging because I believe it's one of the most fascinating topics.
Fighting back the pessimistic thoughts, I walk into the classroom and start setting up the lecture powerpoint as the students file in and take their seats. It's a Friday afternoon and I already know I don't want to be here any longer than my students, it'll be a short lecture today. I walk to the center of the room and look at my students. Half are looking back with tired expressions, others are clicking their pen, and very few look like they actually want to be here. I lick my lips and shift my weight to one foot.
"So, who actually did the reading I assigned on Wednesday?" Maybe five of the thirty students raise their hand. I nod and pick on one of them,
"Can you tell me, Sarah, which part of the brain is responsible for memory?" Sarah was always the quiet one of the class, yet she's so brilliant. I wish she had more confidence in herself, I've been trying all semester to show her how smart she is; yet she continues to shy away.
"Um, I believe the part of the brain responsible for memory is the prefrontal cortex?" She states as a question. I know she's capable of a deeper answer, an answer more well-rounded than the other students can provide. I nod with a smile on my face,
"Yes, you're right, the prefrontal cortex is one of the parts associated with memory. Can you tell the class the specific part that's associated with episodic and recognition memory?" I know she knows this.
"Is it the hippocampus?" I nod once again and turn my attention to the rest of the students.
"The hippocampus is right. There are four main areas of the brain that are related to memory. As Sarah said, the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus are two. The others are the amygdala, which is related to fear and fear memories and the cerebellum, which deals with routines or procedural memories." The students still look bored and uninterested. I bite the inside of my cheek in frustration. Why did they bother signing up for this class if they're not going to pay attention? I take a deep breath and push that thought away, wanting to get through this class and go home to drink a glass of wine on my couch and watch trashy reality tv.
"Memory is fragile. It can be corrupted, suppressed, removed from the subconscious. Memory is what makes us, us, in a way. One day when you're old memories are all you will have left, if you're lucky. Sometimes people aren't fortunate enough to retain those memories, be it from disease, or trauma, or deliberation." I click to the next slide which shows a brain afflicted with Alzheimer's. I watch as some students jot down what I'm saying, the few who are paying attention.
"There's current research being done trying to figure out if Alzheimer's is reversible if caught early enough. Alzheimer's is unique because as you can see, the disease destroys the brain, and takes the memories along with it. Unfortunately, at this time, people diagnosed with Alzheimer's typically only live four to eight years after their diagnosis. But we remain hopeful that a cure, or treatment, is found. With advancing technology it is likely that within the next decade some answer will be discovered. As you may know, I have received funding in order to research the possibility of a treatment, and I'm still hoping that one or two students will join, it will be phenomenal experience to add onto your resumé. " I click to the next slide and see the back door of the classroom open. A man sits down in the corner seat, he looks too old to be a student, and he didn't bring anything with him. I turn my focus back to the class and lose my train of thought.
"Does anyone have any questions at this point?" I ask, not remembering what I was going to say next. Someone's hand goes up and I nod for them to ask their question.
"How likely do you think it is for someone to regain their memory after a traumatic experience?" One of my students ask and I see the man in the corner lean forward in his seat, he seems to be intensely listening. His presence is unnerving for no particular reason, but I don't want to seem rude if he's a faculty member or a potential research sponsor.
"Well, it may take some therapy and counseling to unearth the suppressed memories. Typically when people are introduced to a traumatic experience at a young age their subconscious tends to bury that memory in order to protect them. I can't say with absolute certainty that someone with suppressed memories can ever get them back. I'm not sure they would want to remember what their mind deemed unfitting. But it's also not entirely impossible, this is usually a case-by-case basis." I answer the question in what I hope was a satisfactory way. The student nods, and once again the man in the back stirs in his seat. My stomach twists with anxiety and I feel like my shirt's collar is choking me. I tug at the collar to get it away from my skin and decide class is over.
"Okay, well, I think I'm going to cut it short here. Please if you didn't already read what I had assigned on Wednesday, do it. It will be on the quiz." I say and walk over to the podium and grab my laptop.
I hope my anxiety is acting up, and the man is merely an observer or potential sponsor. Maybe I was under evaluation. If that's the case I surely failed. But something just isn't sitting right with me about the man. I make a direct line for my car, fumbling with my keys. My palms are sweaty and I just need to get home.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry? Got a hot date or something?" A voice calls out to me. I look up and see the man from class walking towards me, hands in his pockets. I swallow and try to force a smile, hiding any signs of being anxious about his presence.
"Actually, I'm just headed out to meet my husband. He's expecting me for dinner." I say with false confidence, hoping he doesn't see through my lie. He reaches my car, looks me up and down and raises an eyebrow. I don't think he bought what I was selling him.
"A husband? Hm, I guess they forgot to mention that part to me. But I digress, that was a very insightful lecture, professor Averina." My heart freezes on the spot and I feel like my blood is running cold. My name isn't on the outside of the lecture hall, he knows I'm lying about my marital status. I push the anxiety back and continue with the aura of false confidence.
"Thank you, I'm very passionate about my work. And if you don't mind me inquiring, were you asking around about me?" I question him, looking around the empty parking lot for anyone else but seeing nobody. I don't have a weapon on me and I'm not confident that this man is here for my wellbeing. He laughs and shakes his head,
"Oh no I wasn't asking around about you. Some old friends who haven't seen you in a while told me all about you and what you're up to these days. They're curious if you're enjoying your vacation abroad. They miss you, they sent me to see if you're okay. Oh, and they also wanted me to tell you that you've got a one way plane ticket with your name on it. Hope you still have a winter coat." I adjust the keys in my hand, the pointy end sticking out from my palm. I nod my head as he finishes speaking,
"Well, you can tell those old friends that I'm not going back, and I got rid of my winter coat." Quickly, I slash the man's face with the key. He grunts and holds his hand to his cheek where there's now a jagged bleeding line. His eyes go dark with anger, and I know I have to get out of here fast.
I get in my car hastily and weave through traffic, needing to get home quickly. Of course the traffic is congested when I don't have the luxury of time to wait. I know the man is likely behind me, I just don't know where. I need to get home and pack, I need to get out of here. I'm no longer safe. I continue pushing my way through the traffic and pull into my driveway with a small squeal. I leave my car running as I rush to the house. Flinging the front door open, I head straight for my bedroom and grab the book from my nightstand. I find a bag underneath my bed and stuff the book in there. Rapidly, I pull open some drawers and shove handfuls of clothes in there as well and swing the bag onto my shoulder as I turn to leave. As I turn into the living room I freeze in my tracks, my breath catches in my throat.
The man is standing in the main doorway of the house, angrily staring at me with blood dripping down his jaw. I drop the bag, knowing he's not going to let me leave here without a fight. He lunges at me and I dodge it, thankfully. He's being fueled by adrenaline and rage. I grab a lamp from an accent table nearby and smash it against his head, disorienting him. I shove past him, grab the bag and go to my kitchen to get a knife. This is the only way I'm getting out of here. The man comes back to his senses and follows me to the kitchen, where I'm pointing the knife at him.
"You can't kill me. You need me alive." My voice wavers as he wipes blood from the hole in his cheek and smiles sinisterly. My hands are shaking and I know I'm not intimidating to this man.
"We don't need you, we are way past that point. However, we need what you have to finish our newest project." He says and eyes my bag. Any leverage I thought I had is gone. He lunges at me again, and I unskillfully thrust the knife forward. His weight knocks me over as he dodges the attack and we're both on the kitchen floor. My eyes dart around for the knife that flew from my hands, I know I have to act fast. I fumble for the knife and manage to grip the wooden handle as the man grabs my calf and pulls me toward him.
I kick my feet frantically and he loses his grip on my leg. I use the momentum from my kick and manage to stand. As the man tries to rise to his feet, I kick his ribs which sends him right back to the floor. I use my foot to roll him over so his back flush against the floor. In the blink of an eye, the man pulls a gun on me as I plunge the knife into his chest, just below his sternum. It's surprisingly easy to cut through the flesh.
With adrenaline coursing through my veins, I pull the knife out of his chest and stab the man in the neck which sends blood spurting everywhere. I stumble back from the dying man and push the hair from my face as I turn and grab the bag that slid across the floor and run to my car.
The blood on my hands makes it difficult to grip my door handle and the steering wheel, it's being smeared over everything. With shaking hands and a racing mind I pull back out onto the road and know I've run out of options. There's only one place I can think of that can offer me the level of protection I need. As I speed towards the only chance of safety I have, my breathing becomes erratic and I hold back sobs.
I just killed a man, I plunged a knife into his jugular. I feel sickness rise in my throat but manage to choke it down. I'm not even sure that the traffic lights are green as I speed down the metropolitan roads, but I don't care I just need to reach safety.
My First One Piece Story
Tumblr media
So, About two years ago, I wrote a One Piece fanfiction. It was actually a request from my younger sister. We usually find it hard to find stories with our favorite characters for black/POC readers.
One of our favorite characters in One Piece is Usopp, and that's when I made my very first One Piece fanfiction. it was an Usopp x Black!(self-insert)Reader fanfiction. Mainly because it was originally for my sister, and if this story ends turns out well, I might write more.
Elara & Bucky
“Trying to make it to school kills me Corell.” Elara sits on the edge of the couch putting on her black and white dunks. It’s 7:30 in the morning, school started it at 8:30 sharp.
“Girl it’s just 2 more months of school before you graduate. Don’t let senioritis consume you whole.” Corell poured hazelnut creamer into her coffee. Elara fixed on her red curls in the mirror. Her outfit was a black romper.
“Sis that mf done swallowed me already. Where my keys ?”
As Elara walked past Corell pointed at the hook near the door. El kissed her big sister on the cheek and grabbed the essentials that she needed then left for school.
————-
“bestie what it do!” Elara walked up to her bestie as she does every morning near the 600 lockers. It was a lot of students that attended her school which why they found somewhere link.
Kaylee Jinsu had been Elara best friend since 9th grade. “I’m convinced Thor is into me.”
The pair walked side by side to breakfast. “Why you say that?” Elara looked up from her phone every so often so she wouldn’t run into anything.
“He messaged me on instagram on some friend type shit. Wait-“ Her phone buzzed and it created a little smile on her face. “Ignore that bullshit I just said. I met Thor last year because he was friendly to me first. We’re in the friend zone and I really like him.”
Elara furrowed her eyebrow in confusion,”Why are y’all still in the friend zone? Have he shown you energy that he’s feeling you back?”
Kaylee scratch the side of her next, “He’s fingered me, we’ve made out-“
“I’m going to stop you right there bestie. That’s a red flag. He’s toxicccc.” They walked in the cafeteria deep in conversation joining the line of students that also wanted breakfast.
They sat down at the table after being served two waffles, sausage, eggs and apple juice. “Oouh bestie today they got us right on breakfast.” Kaylee dipped her waffle in syrup as Elara ate on her eggs a bit.
“Girl what! I’ma be so sleepy in first block.”
“Elara!” A deep voice that belonged to Bucky made his way closer to the table. El’s smile grew seeing her other best friend who she have yet to talk to today.
“James you was real M.I.A this morning. Surprised you still my bestie.”
“I’m sorry Elara, I was busy this morning doing some shit with my pops.” He kissed her cheek, “I just came to talk to you, grab a juice then head to class.”
Elara’s cheeks turned red, “Okay Bucky enjoy your day.” Bucky ruffled Kaylee’s hair, smirking. “I will. Oh and Kay? Thor said Good morning.”
Kaylee cheeks grew red while swatting his hands away, “Bye Bucky, you play so much!” She thought he was being petty but in honesty Thor asked him to say that.
After Bucky left, The girls sat there for a minute talking. Their conversation died down a bit after hearing her best friend name in someone’s mouth.
“Bucky’s girlfriend been posting on her close friends that he is the example dude on how use them for only money and arm candy.”
Elara’s leg shook in anger hearing that shit. Bucky loves Rydee because they’ve been together since 10th grade year. Kaylee grabbed Elara’s hand pulling her from the table before anything broke loose.
“Kaylee you heard that shit ? Rydee been using Bucky for his money. I’m going to beat her ass.” She rubbed her lips together trying to calm down but it’s not working.
“Yeah I heard that shit. She wrong as fuck for that because Bucky actually likes her. When you planning on beating her ass?”
“At Lunch.”
————
Eventually the best friends separated for classes until it was time for seniors lunch block. “Hey Steve!” Elara kissed his cheek then dapped up the rest of the gang around the table. “Where’s Bucky?”
“Sitting with Hoedee.” Clint pointed his fork in the direction of Bucky sitting at a lunch table with Rydee hugged up to him and all of her friends over there. It was only Loki, Clint, Steve and Tony at the table.
“Should’ve known.” Elara sat in the empty space between Loki and Tony. She glanced down at their plates trying to see which one was appetizing.“Which station you got the chicken nuggets from??” She pointed at Tony’s plate.
He dipped a chicken nugget it in ketchup then plopped it in his mouth, “Near the pizza but I forgot the name of it. Want one?” He held out one towards her.
“Yeah I wanna see what they taste like.” When she went to grab it, Tony plopped it in his mouth with a devious smirk growing.
Elara jaw dropped for a second then she glared. “You greedy mf!” She reached forward trying to grab one as same time Tony tried to block it.
“Stark give me one !”
“No! I want all of mine!”
“Tony!”
“Elara!” He mocked back.
They looked like little kids with chicken nugget crumbs over their hands from fighting over it. Amused, Steve held out an chicken nugget from his plate “Here El.”
The glare went from Tony to Steve, “You had one this whole time?!” She huff not even wanting it anymore. Steve laughed, “Because you didn’t ask me, you asked Tony out of all people at the table.”
Elara smacked her lips, “You do be making points Steve.” Her phone buzzed grabbing her attention.
bestie4L
we’re walking in now
bestie4L
who tf is we?
As soon as the message sent, Elara looked up to see her bestie & Thor walking in. Wait for it…
holding hands.
This is the end. Elara happiness dropped seeing her best friend off the market. I mean yeah she’s happy for her best friend but she couldn’t help feel alone. Kaylee wasn’t going to drop her but it probably meant she wasn’t going to always be available. El cleared her frown and put on the best smile for her best friend.
“Kay?? What in the hell is going on today? Like it is so eventful on this Thursday.” El pointed at their joined hands. Kaylee blushed,
Kaylee blushed, “I’ll tell you later Elara, you know I am.” Thor flexed his muscles to the guys and the cheered for him.
“Congrats on the relationship dude!” Steve dapped up Thor. Kaylee sat down by Elara getting comfortable while Thor sat beside Loki after doing their handshake.
“What’s up Loki!”
“Hey Thor!”
“Where’s Bucky?” The long blonde asked for his other brother. The whole table in unison, pointed behind them.
“Hoedee.”
Kaylee snorted and the whole table burst into laughter. El glanced over at her best friend, honestly missing him. He’s been busy all week with his dad til they’ve barely facetimed each other. She saw Rydee rub up and down his arm, she couldn’t help but feel jealous.
Jealous? Pfft Elara is the type of person who is far from jealously. Or is she ?
In slow motion, she watched Rydee place a kiss on the corner of Bucky’s lips. That’s it! She couldn’t sit there and watch some gold digger kiss on her man. That shit sent her over the edge and hating to admit it herself she knew why.
All she saw was red.
El slammed her book bag down on the table getting up. “Lara??” Kaylee got up from her seat following behind her. “Oh we ready??”
“You damn right we is.” Lara made way over to Rydee table. Kaylee crossed her arms, not losing eye contact on Rydee. Bucky glanced up to his best friend from his phone, “Best? Hey, I was just finna text-“
Elara and Kaylee stared down on Rydee but Ry wasn’t going down without a fight so she stood up too.
“Bitch you think you’re going to use my best friend for his money and not think I’ll do anything??!! Are you fucking dumb?!?!”
“Elara shut the fuck up cause you’re not going to do anything about it!”
“Oh baby we gone do everything about it, don’t fucking play!” Kaylee spoke up, taking her ear rings out. Another one of Rydee’s friend stood up too. The cafeteria was still rowdy from the other kids so not a lot of people was aware of what was going on.
The boys watched from afar, completely confused on what the hell going on. Bucky stood up, just as confused as his friends. “Elara what is going on? What’s the reason on why you walking up to Rydee like this??”
Elara pointed at Rydee, anger written all over her face.“Tell him Rydee! Tell him that you been using-“
Rydee lurched forward aiming to Elara’s face but El’s fist connected to Ry’s face first. Punches were thrown left and right but Ry slipped on a bookbag so she fell backwards which had Elara on top.
Rydee’s friend inched closer to the fight but Kay kept watched the whole time. She went over to the friend “Oh bitch you trying to jump in?!” Kaylee grabbed her hair, pulling her to the ground. “Bitch don’t you ever think you can jump in my best friend fight!”
The two fights caught everyone attention and the cafeteria erupted into a lot of commotion. Bucky had enough of the fighting from Elara, he grabbed her waist trying to get her off. “Elara let her go!”
He didn’t understand what was the whole fight about. Bucky was upset that El fought Rydee for nothing. He had a lot of questions to ask both of them. “El stop!”
Bucky’s strength successfully pulled El off but it wasn’t enough to contain her. “Bitch I’m not finished with you!!” Rydee yelled as a teacher held her back. Both girls had a scratch or two on their faces.
“I’m forever ready you stupid bitch. You knew you were fucking wrong to do MY best friend like that!!” She thrashed around in Bucky’s arm cause every piece of her wanted Rydee head tore off.
It be them damn light skins that wanna fuck over the good guys. Bucky held on to her waist, with all the moving Elara was still in his arms. He pulled her into the hallway, not even upset because he wanted to know what’s going on.
“Elara calm the hell down and tell me what happened? What is you talking about with Rydee?! I’ve asked that question about a thousand times and no fucking answer! Plus you’re fighting her over this means this some deep shit so what is it?”Bucky ‘s angry but determined expression stared into Elara’s chocolate eyes.
She closed her eyes taking in a deep breath, not knowing how he will take this. Now realizing that she cause this mess without even knowing how Bucky would react. Shit! All because she was jealous.
The guys walked out the cafeteria excluding Kaylee and Thor. Steve wanted to speak up but the argument looked heated.
“This morning I overheard some girls say that Rydee has been using for you money and good looks. I went a little deeper and found out she’s still with Martin.”
Bucky heart sank, he didn’t know if it was true or not. He didn’t want to believe it. “Th-That doesn’t makes sense El. Rydee didn’t-” Ry was Bucky’s first relationships since he had lost his arm in a car wreck. Yeah Elara was in the picture but only as friends.
What El told him stuck in his head, “You can’t believe stuff you hear Elara. Why are you trying to sabotage my relationship? You fought her for no reason!”
Elara looked at Bucky in disbelief “I had a reason! No don’t you fucking dare take up for that gold digging bitch!” The anger kicked back in. “Bucky ain’t no fucking information like that is just going to float around school as a rumor.”
“Everything’s a fucking rumor. A real best friend would’ve just told me personally instead of fighting my girlfriend. You don’t have to fight all the time Elara!” Bucky got closer and their eyes never broke contact. He was angry for not knowing if this information was true and he’s taking out on the wrong person. His heart was telling no but his head just wanted him to keep going.
“Buck!” Steve jumped end cause they’re friendship was on the edge. “Both of you just chill out on this right now.”
“You hear your fucking self right?! You know what everybody can’t handle a real bitch like me so I’ll do you a favor and leave. She did you dirty, I took your side and beat her ass cause I’m your best friend plus overprotective of you and you’re mad with me?” She shook her hands trying not to put her hands on him. Elara’s heart was just torn from what he was saying. “I’ll chill out when he take his head out of Rydee’s ass.”
“Fuck you Elara cause you don’t know how I really feel!” Bucky balled his fist, and that’s when everyone intervened. Tony held back Elara who fist were balled as well.
“Fuck you Bucky!” She tried to move but Tony got in the way. “Stark you can move cause he’s pushing it!”
“No you two need to cool it. You guys obviously need some time apart!” Feeling in defeat when Tony didn’t move, El flipped Bucky off. She nodded her head as her eyes filled with tears.
The principal opened the door pointing at El, “You come with me.” Elara followed her without protest to the office.
—————
Elara laid into bed, her feelings for Bucky were everywhere. She liked him but the way he acted today, obviously showed that he wasn’t into her.
Her love life was hard and not being with her parents made it harder. In her side nightstand, El reached down grabbing an old coach purse which held what she needed. 5 minutes later she was done rolling up.
Yeah…
Done rolling up…
When your love life and losing both parents is hard, something has to take the pain away.
*Incoming call from bestie4L*
The facetime call answered with Kaylee sitting on her back porch.
“You done rolling up?”
“Yes, just looking for my lighter.” Elara always losing her damn purple lighter. After finding it under her pillow, she made a walk to her back porch.
“You always looking for that damn lighter!”
“Hush cause you be losing yours too!” El laughed, then sat down in a chair.
*********
The world echoed around Elara as the grass became interesting. “Elara what happened between you and Bucky?” She heard Kaylee’s voice from beside her, honestly forgetting that she was on the phone for a second.
“He took her side with his confused ass and how I know that was true about Rydee cause when I was making her ass confessed, she cames towards me first that’s why I took the first lick.” She hit the blunt against the ash tray to knock some off.
“I was there on the second part slow ass , keep going on the first part when I was in the office.” Kaylee laughed at the slow moment Elara just had. “El you high as fuck. He took her side how?”
“Man he said he didn’t know if it was true or not so he don’t know whose side to take and plus it was wrong to fight her. All that pure bullshit.”
“How the fuck he can’t believe you? You were here first so he should know you by now. You took his side and he still chose hers. Men.” Kaylee shook her head then inhaled the smoke through her nose. “I had to hit the blunt for the stupid shit, you just said.”
Elara laughed putting out the blunt. Kaylee always know how to put a smile on her face and Elara’s forever grateful for that. “Girl ima be there in 2 minutes so we can smoke these together bye!”
“Bye bitch!”
After smoking, Elara regretted nothing from today but he was still on her mind. The way his eyes stared into hers…
From 'Joined By the Waters of Time,' Anthony Bridgerton/OC | ENERGY
“I beg pardon, Lady Bridgerton, I did not see you,” Cara said hastily, rushing to stand so she could dip into a greeting curtsey.
“Do not be concerned,” Lady Violet said with a brisk head shake. “I was pleased to see you awake and looking well, but you seemed contemplative, and I did not wish to disturb you.”
“I have bad experiences with thunderstorms,” Cara explained.
“Meanwhile, my brother loves them,” Daphne laughed. “He will probably jest that your dislike of them is part of your ‘involuntary resistance.’”
“What is this?” Lady Violet asked, setting her sewing aside and walking over.
Daphne looked disconcerted. “His remarks were made in frustration, of course, with an eye toward explaining his lack of success, but…” she paused, brows furrowing. Cara imagined she was searching for a diplomatic way to explain their conflict.
“Until recently, I was engaged in a campaign to match your son with my cousin. As such, I exerted my energy in redirecting his attentions away from myself whenever possible.”
She had to congratulate herself on her forthrightness, which would hopefully take any pressure off of Edwina if there was still any question of their match. What she hadn’t expected was Lady Violet’s surprise. It hinted at the idea that their invitation had always been centered around herself, and not a choice between cousins.
“So is there voluntary resistance, as well, then?” Lady Violet’s voice was amused, and she broke out into a wide smile when she saw Cara’s attempt to prevaricate. “Poor Anthony.”
From 'Iron Helix,' Tony Stark/OC | PLAYFUL
“A judicious retreat. People respect a decisive leader, but not one that clings to a losing position. Give in.”
He was definitely moving incrementally nearer. She yearned to close the distance, but his words were weighted. The only thing that would be worse than being rejected, Evie realized, would be to have been rejected after she got to have this. That’s why she followed Tony’s example and grabbed a handful of the blanket on the bed beside her and looked him right in the eyes.
“Which option are you asking for?” she said, feeling like she had a responsibility to signal her certainty that he’d reject her.
Tony’s nose brushed her cheek, and his breath danced across her lips.  “The one where you trust me,” he whispered, hoarsely. “Yield, Hyacinth. It’s easy, watch--”
--and with that, his lips met hers, one hand tearing away the bunched-up blanket at her hips to drag her underneath him. Tony went from teasing to beguiling, putting all his sensual powers of persuasion to bear on her.
Evie was on board, raising her bare leg and angling her foot across his backside, locking him in place. He ran the flat of his hand from her hip, across her chest, and along her arm, linking their fingers together and slamming them into the mattress.
She loved kissing, and it was obvious Tony did too. He was really good at it, dominant but not domineering, playful, not afraid to show her he was affected and enjoying himself. And if she’d thought his ability to wreck her without using his hands was heady enough, she was completely seduced by him now. Their combined hands were a proxy of the push and pull of their bodies; Evie rolled her hips in response to the drag of his lips and tongue, and he ground against her, pressing his hardness right where she wanted it.
Tumblr media
From 'Trust Fall,' Tony Stark/OC | EXHAUSTED
It’s not long after takeoff when a flight attendant comes over and asks Emory if she’s the person pictured in the article on her phone. She’s already shell-shocked and exhausted after telling her friend and colleague that the organization he’s been risking his life for is infiltrated by literal bad guys. She’d told Clint while still hanging underneath the helicopter, but once they were inside, the atmosphere was too tense to tell anyone else. Agent Rumlow and his team had lost two guys and a few more were wounded. They’d all been furious and demoralized, and that was without knowing the secret about HYDRA’s infiltration.
“Miss?”
“I’m sorry, it was a long day,” Emory says. She feels stretched, like keeping a secret this impactful can multiply in a person’s system until the infection takes them down from within. “Yes, that’s me, but what--”
“You were the one in the cave with Tony Stark?” The young woman’s excitement dampens as she frowns at her phone. “He-- he didn’t hurt you, did he?”
“No!” Emory says, deeply confused. “What--”
She grabs the phone, and it’s a testament to what she sees written there that the flight attendant doesn’t protest.
Tumblr media
From 'Diminished Seventh,' Stephen Strange/OC | DELIGHTED
“Surgeon. You did say that.” Amy let her legs slide down from where she’d drawn them up against her chest. “Why aren’t you anymore? Were you looking for a way to cheat death?”
The question was fraught, but the words had already left her lips. Explaining why she wanted to retract them would be more painful than pushing through.
“No,” Stephen said. The word bore more weight than it ought to, she noticed. “I was injured. My hands.” He didn’t hold them up, instead toying with the tubes of the stethoscope absently. He shrugged, and again, she sensed weight there, a great loss bandaged up in shrugs and sarcasm. “I lost that job, needed another one.”
His hidden sadness made Amy again yearn to see what he looked like pleased, contented, happy, joyful, delighted. She wanted to collect his emotions, mix and match them, be able to conjure them on demand. The strength of it shook her.
While she was reckoning with that, Stephen leaned over and pressed the stethoscope to her chest. Amy seized up, too vulnerable to want him quite so near, not with those thoughts only a breath away.
“I thought you said you were feeling bet--” He cut himself off, pulling his hand and the medical device away. “You are afraid of me.”
“I don’t know how to feel,” Amy said defensively. It was the honest truth, and as such, felt too revealing by half.
Tumblr media
From 'A Solution More Beautiful,' Remus Lupin/OC/Sirius Black | SORROW
“Soup would be a great dinner idea,” Remus said, resting his arm on the back of the couch. “Even though Sirius detests soup. It’s almost as if his mother trained him to be some sort of anti-soup crusader.”
“Which actually means she fed him soup every day while yelling at his technique, more like,” Elodie said, laughing.
Remus looked at her with a curious expression on his face. “Sirius talked to you about his mother?” he asked, clearly very surprised.
Elodie’s heart sank. She’d slipped up with her unnatural knowledge again. She decided to deflect with the truth. “No, he didn’t,” she said. “I just remember the subject of his mother came up, once, and his reaction was so negative I just extrapolated from there.”
Remus made a wry face and looked down at where his hand was playing with a fraying thread from the couch. “I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up there, but he’s got a lot of baggage from his parents, and it would be a powerful thing if he felt he could unload some of it.” He looked up at her, and she could see the depth of his caring for his friend reflected in the sorrow in his eyes. “He had a warped view of family dynamics even before Azkaban.”
“We’re his family now,” Elodie said. She had tried to say it with firm conviction, but she yawned halfway through. “Damnit. I meant to sound more badass there. Like a final line before a commercial break.”
“The funny thing here is I can’t tell which is a typical Elodieism and which is a product of pain medicine and sleep deprivation,” Remus chuckled.
Confrontation Luffy x reader
Tumblr media
This is part two. If you want to read part one -----> Here
As in part one, Je as a nickname, the craziness continues, enjoy.
Tumblr media
Ever since your boyfriend admitted that you two slept together, you went out of the way from anyone. Usopp eyes followed you around whenever you passed him, as if to DARE you to get closer to Luffy.
"Puah! The food was amazing Sanji", Luffy beamed and patted his belly. "Thanks", the cook said with a sad voice. It took a turn on him as he heard the news this morning, that you his beloved Goddess actually slept with the Captain.
"Je! What are you doing, your plate is still full" "Ah, yes", you admitted, obviously. Taking his fork, he took some food of your plate and held it out with a innocent grin. "Here!"
The kitchen was dead silent. Only the drop of Sanji´s cigarette was heard, all holding their breath. Luffy feeding you. HE! WANTED! TO! FEED! YOU!
Usopp directly began to pray, sweat running down his face. "No Luffy, it´s ok", you admitted and a loud breath was released. "Eh? Don´t you like the food?" "AH! I failed you my Goddess", Sanji fell onto the ground curling himself up as he whimpered.
"No! No no no. I´m not really hungry. You can eat the rest, Lu" "Sure?" "Yes, sure", you admitted and within a blink of your eyes, the plate was clean.
Sun all vanished, the night sky took place. "Good Night", you said and waved to them. "Je! Wait I sleep-", Luffy was interrupted as Usopp grabbed the collar of his shirt. "No! You will come here, we have a lo to discuss", he looked mad at your boyfriend. "But-" "Goodnight, Luffy", you smiled and went into your room and Usopp dragged his best friend over to the boys cabin.
Inside, Usopp began to breathe out, the rest of the boys already there as "Luffy", he started calmly. "Yeah?", he was already sitting on the couch. "One question....HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!", Usopp began to shout, walking back and forth, " DO YOU HVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU DID?! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO HER?! TO US?! HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF MY BLOOD PRESSURE?!", he screeched so much that his voice broke.
"WE´RE PIRATES. THIS IS THE NEW WORLD!! YOU CAN´T JUST MAKE A BABY ON BOARD!" "Relax. I didn´t put a baby in her" " And that should calm me down?! I CAN`T EVEN-"
"you´re just mad that Luffy had sex before you, long nose", said Zoro with a smirk. "No!", admitted Usopp. "Really? You´re mad because I did it with Je?", Luffy tilted his head. "NO! What I mean is that you-YOU- who never-NEVER! Took an interest in this stuff suddenly know how this all works!"
"Usopp, are you still a virgin?", asked Franky and a blush covered the snipers cheeks. "YOHOHOHOHOHO! Usopp-san" "So basically, you thought you would get laid before Luffy", Sanji blew on his cigarette. "That is NOT the point! It´s Luffy, he doesn´t-"
CRUNSH!
A loud voice went through the cabin and all looked at Luffy who was eating cookies. "Where did you get these from?!", shouted Sanji. "Je makes them for me. She always makes too much and gives me the leftovers. She said when I´m hungry at night I can eat them", he smiled. Usopp inched the bridge of his nose and exhaled. "Did you even pay attention to what I said?"
Luffy shallowed all of the cookies at once before turning to his best friend. "No, not really", he laughed and the next second Usopp flung at him, strangling him. "YOU STUPID RUBBER IDIOT! I´M GIVING HERE A LECTURE AND YOU EAT!!!" "ARRk-Z-Zoro", Luffy chocked out.
Jinbe simply laughed at everything that happened. "Leave Luffy-kun alone. He has finally become a man" "OVER MY DEAD BODY!" "Bone-chop!", said brook and hit Usopp head. "What was that for, Brook?" "Luffy turned blue if you didn´t noticed it", admitted Franky.
"Ok, following!", Usopp clapped his hands. "These who are still virgins, raise their hand", he said and rose his hand, the rest being down. "SANJI?!" "What? I know what I´m doing", he smirked.
Luffy laughed loudly as Usopp fell to his knees, praying. "Oh, God. Forgive my sin for being in this rotten crew!", he began to tear up, "please don´t kill me, I´m still innocent and love my life so please-"
The others ignored Usopp as "Yohohoho, Luffy-san, One question. Is her body as wonderful as it looks?" "OH! Yes, Luffy! We need this information!", Sanji became heart eyes and puffed air through his nose.
"Je? Her skin is soft and smooth, like a pillow! I enjoy hugging her when we do it" "Yohohohoho", blood dripped from their noses. "Luffy, how was even your first time?", asked Zoro. "It was super fun! We laughed and it sorta happened.
"FUN?! YOU IDIOT! She is a living Goddess, the light of this ship and you should worship her fully! Kiss her skin, whisper love confessions, show her how much you want her, make her whine, and leave her breathless", Sanji went on one knee, explaining passionately.
"Just show her who´s in charge", yawned Zoro. "Oi, Marimo! That works with cavemen but a goddess like her!" "And if I hear one more of this sweet as shit, I´m gonna puke in your bed, Hentai-brow"
Both were about to fight. "Why that? We both laughed and felt happy with each other. This is about the two of us so it should be happy for us! But I have to admit, her moaning my name gave me shivers", Luffy grinned.
"Super, Luffy! So manly!", laughed Franky. "Luffy, I will never, ever again see you with innocent eyes!", Usopp whined.
"Ah, you´ll get over it", admitted Jinbe. "How! I have images in my head I never wanted to have! I feel like I was being molested!"
"You overdo", all said and the door opened. "Je!", your boyfriend jumped up when he saw you enter. "shhh. Chopper fell asleep in his office." Luffy looked at the sleeping Chopper, grinning.
"I take him", Zoro came forth and took the reindeer from your arm. "And you guys go to bed soon. Sleep well", you smiled as Luffy took your hand. "Why are you up?" "I´m on watch", you admitted. "Ok! Bye guys", waved your boyfriend and tug you outside with him, closing the door.
"Huargh! No no no. Not again. The pics coming back", Usopp shivered and jumped around. "Stalker" "Hey! If we have a baby here in a few months, I told you so! Luffy does not care"
"Night" "Yo, you also" Yohohoho, night guys"
THUNDER AND FURY
(THOR ODINSON X BLACK! OC)
Tumblr media
Summary: Nicki Fury a tough girl who had no time for games is put on a team of formidable superheros falling in love with her polar opposite Thor odinson
A/N: mentions of weapon, and swearing
Next
--
Nicki lived her life as if it were in risk everyday and in her case it was. She has found it hard to enjoy certain wholesome aspects of her life all thanks to the man who raised her.
She didn't have friends growing up. "you don't need more people to fight for" her dad loved to say.
But his favorite line always seemed to be the silent one, that's when she knew she disappointed him most.
She stood outside SHEILD agent Coulson right behind her watching as a helicopter landed. She said nothing agent Maria Hill stepping out of the chopper.
She held in her breath trying to look as professional as possible as Nick Fury took his turn exiting the aircraft, adorning his long leather trenchcoat as always.
"How bad is it?" He asked skipping the niceties which by now she'd grown use to.
"That's the problem, we don't know" she said as she took of her sunglasses that blocked her face from the dirt that picked when they landed.
Leading her father, Hill, and Coulson down to the radiation section of the facility she ignored the technicians and agents who seemed to scatter around the building collecting their valuables and hauling ass.
"Selvig read an energy surge from the tesseract four hours ago" agent Coulson informed them as he walked beside Nicki.
"NASA didn't authorize Selvig to test phase" Fury looked down at Nicki.
Nicki knew she'd be to blame for this as if she was the one who insisted on harboring a blue space cube for their own selfish benefit. If anything she was the one against but Nick Fury, just couldn't be wrong.
"He wasn't testing it." She said pushing her hair hair behind her ear, "funny thing is he wasn't even in the room, call it a spontaneous event."
"It just turned itself on?" Agent Hill asked?
"Where are the energy levels now?" her dad questioned dismissing the attentive agent.
"Climbing." Coulson announced.
"When Selvig couldn't shut it down I ordered evac" Nicki told him.
"How long till we get everyone out?" Fury asked quickly.
"Campus should be clear in the next half hour" Coulson answered.
"Do better" he said. Even though it was in response to Coulson Nicki knew it was meant for her, especially because he didn't even look in her direction.
Walking down to the radiation facility they left Coulson behind so he could patrol the halls making sure everything that needed to be gone was gone.
"Sir evacuation may be futile" agent Hill said as the three walked down the stairs.
Nicki knew she meant no harm by it but she had no time to deal with criticism when their lives where at risk. She didn't need to be criticized she needed to make sure everyone made it out safe.
"We should tell them to go back to sleep?" Fury's brow cocked.
Maria sighed, "If we can't control the Tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance."
"I need you to make sure that phase 2 prototypes are shipped out." Her father requested.
"Is that really a priority right now?" Nicki gawked. she seen him put many useless things before others but to care for a prototype more than the lives of workers was a new low.
"Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on." Fury stopped as he looked down at his daughter on the stairs before speaking to Hill. "Clear out the tech below. Get every piece of phase 2 on a truck and gone."
"Yes, sir." Agent Hill nodded before commanding two guards to follow her.
The two finally reached the facility where the tesseract was being kept. Nicki's heels clicked against the cold floor, she hated this room and avoided at all costs.
"Talk to me, doctor." Fury exclaimed as he walked over to Selvig.
The doctor looked up from the cube rushing to Fury and Nicki, the Tesseract seemed to be glowing unusually brighter and flare rings shot out at random.
"Director." He huffed out in shock.
"Is there anything we know for certain?" Fury asked.
"The Tesseract is misbehaving." The man answered back as quick as possible. Well of course they already knew that Nicki thought.
"Is that supposed to be funny?"
"No, it's not funny at all. The Tesseract is not only active, she's...misbehaving."
Nicki looked down to her watch checking the time. "How soon until you pull the plug?"
"She's an energy source. If we turn off the power, she turns it back on. If she reaches peak level..." Selvig begun to trail off
"We've prepared for this, doctor. Harnessing energy from space." Fury reminded.
"We don't have the harness. Our calculations are far from complete. Now she's throwing off interference radiation." He paused, "Nothing harmful, low level of gamma radiation."
"That can be harmful." Nicki gawked staring at the man as if he were an alien.
"Where's Barton?" Fury queried as he looked around the room.
"The Hawk? Up in his nest, as usual." Selvig spoke his face scrunched in a distasteful manner.
Barton, dressed in black tactical gear, sat up on the railings watching them down below, Fury called for Barton on his earpiece.
"Agent Barton, report."
Barton swung down from the catwalk. Walking up to Nicki and Fury. The three walk around the facility in a discreet manner.
"I gave you this detail so you could keep a close eye on things." Nick sounding as if he were blaming the man.
"Well, I see better from a distance." He said ignoring Fury's accusing tone.
"Are you seeing anything that might set this thing off?" Nicki looked over to the tesseract that she feared getting closed to.
A NASA scientist interrupted them "Doctor, it's spiking again."
"No one's come or gone. It's oven is clean. No contacts, no I.M.'s." he shrugged "If there was any tampering, sir, it wasn't at this end."
"At this end?" Fury stood confused.
"Yeah, the cube is a doorway to the other end of space, right?" The doors open from both sides. Clint explained.
Dr. Selvig clacks away at the keyboard and sees on the monitor something he hadn't expected to. Suddenly the Tesseract thundered and shook the entire facility. Big enough to where both Agent Hill and Coulson can feel even though they were at different ends of the facility.
The flaring rings and glow of the cube spout out brighter and louder, like a boiling pot of water. The Tesseract's energy building up into a beam at the end of a platform wired to the CMS device. The beam fires the Tesseract's energy.
The beam then forms a vortex, which then opens up a portal and a black hole isq created. From the portal, the blackness of space, beautiful and mysterious, strewn with a billion stars appears and a gust of blue energy clouds fills the room, blinding everyone inside.
The Tesseract's energy forms into a cloud that reaches to the top of the facility's vacuum chamber ceiling. And for a moment It's abnormally quiet. Then heavy breathing is heard from the platform.
SHIELD guards slowly approach, weapons in hands. A figure kneeling on the platform, smoke coming off it.
Who in the fuck was this?
The patter of footsteps echoed throughout the mansion, a young girl giggling as she ran through her home. She was supposed to be in her room. She’d been told that there would be punishment if she disobeyed. But curiosity had wormed its way into Vera’s naive mind.
It had been easy to escape. Her mother hadn’t even bothered to lock the door, knowing Vera could easily open it with magic. Praesentia’s voice had been stern as she threatened her daughter, and for a moment Vera did feel true fear. But the allure of secret agendas and forbidden knowledge proved too strong.
“The brat has to go!” Her footsteps halted just short of her stepfather’s study. Careful to not make a sound, she pressed herself flat to the wall and focused her hearing.
“Darling, I know you don’t want her. And neither do I. But what do you suggest we do?” Her mother’s voice was laden with frustration.
“I’d love nothing more than to wring her neck myself.” Misericors seethed with rage, no doubt fantasizing about murdering the girl.
“And what would the other Celestial Dragons say if you did?” Praesentia’s voice rose in volume, an accusatory inflection to it. “She’s a God, just as we are. If you kill her and they find out, we’ll be cast out of Mariejois! Our fate would be worse than the Donquixotes!”
“The Donquixotes?!” A piece of furniture fell, the resulting thud startling Vera. But still she did not move. “If anyone deserves their fate it’s that whelp! She and Doflamingo are the only two left carrying that disgraceful family’s blood!”
Praesentia sighed, no doubt exasperated by the conversation that had been ongoing since her daughter’s birth. “You know we can’t do that without risking our own lives. Product of an affair or not, she’s still a Celestial Dragon. And a purebred one at that, …” her words trailed off at the end of her statement, seeming to lose herself in thought.
“I don’t want to hear about your infidelity! I want that girl out of my home!” Misericors was almost screaming now, no doubt red in the face.
“There is a way we could get rid of her.” Praesentia began hesitantly. “But it would take time.”
“Out with it!”
“We could sell her into an arranged marriage.”
Misericors was quiet as he mulled over the proposal. When he spoke again, his voice had calmed. “That would make her somewhat useful. And in the meantime, she could work with the slaves. Say that she’s being taught homemaking for the sake of her future husband.”
“Yes!” Praesentia clapped in delight at her husband’s words. “I have no doubt a royal family would pay greatly to be married into the Domain of the Gods. And if we train her as a slave, she’ll be so obedient !”
A hand clasped over Vera’s mouth, maintaining her silence as tears welled in her eyes. She willed the sobs to stay down, her body shaking in fear at what she’d heard. She turned to run back to her room, ready to dive under the covers of her bed and pretend she hadn’t just eavesdropped on a conversation which sealed her fate to a life of misery.
“You impudent little pest!” She’d been caught. Vera halted her movements, freezing mid-step as she turned to face her mother. The older woman marched forward, gripping Vera’s arm painfully tight.
“I told you to stay put!” Her hand rose, palm open before coming down fast. The harsh slap reverberated off the ornately decorated walls, paintings of smiling faces inside gilded frames mocked the young girl. “But I suppose you did save me the trouble of explaining things.” Praesentia released her daughter’s arm, leaving Vera to fall backwards.
“I’ll have the slaves move her things.” Misericors scowled down at his stepdaughter like one would an insect. “Tomorrow, you’ll start working.”
Vera gulped at the statement. She was only five years old, and yet she knew her very existence was a mistake. A mistake for which she would be punished relentlessly.
***
Dark eyes gazed through glass towards the horizon. Endless blue in all directions, calm waves and sparsely clouded skies met Vera’s vision. How many days had they been at sea? Time seemed to blur when the scenery and weather were unchanging. A small part of her wondered if Nami had gotten them lost. She sighed and resumed reading the book cradled in her lap.
The library door swung open to reveal an exuberant Sanji, a tray of beverages in one hand. He twirled to Robin first, offering her an ornate teacup upon its matching saucer. Steam wafted into the air.
“Herbal Rose tea with honey.” The historian took the delicate porcelain into her hand. Sanji stood upright, smiling wide. “A delicate and sweet blend for an equally graceful beauty.”
Robin thanked the cook with a smile, her voice soft and eyes kind. Sanji took this as his opportunity to spin towards the window seat where Vera lounged. Upon reaching his destination, he knelt at her side and offered a glass. “And a mango smoothie for the alluring enchantress.”
Vera blushed and took the beverage from the blonde. She immediately took a sip, her face lighting up. “Wow, Sanji! This is even better than yesterday’s acai bowl!”
The chef beamed. “You’re too kind.” He tucked the tray neatly under his arm and turned to exit. Just before leaving, he announced, “Lunch will be ready in a few hours. I’ll come retrieve you when it’s time.”
Once the library door had closed, Robin addressed her companion with amusement evident in her voice. “He seems fond of you.”
Vera turned away, hiding her darkening cheeks. She glanced down just in time to see a head of blonde hair entering the ship’s kitchen, a trail of smoke cut off by the closing door. “He’s fond of anything in a dress.”
Robin chuckled, a loose fist covering her mouth as she did. “Whatever you say.” She took a long sip of her tea, punctuating her suspicions.
Laughter caught the witch’s attention, drifting to the ship’s bow where three distinct figures sat on a wooden banister. Fishing poles were clenched firmly in Usopp and Luffy’s hands, long lines cast into the sea below. Chopper sat beside them, his hooved feet dangling over the ledge. The group appeared incredibly carefree despite two thirds of them being unable to swim.
Across the deck, Franky sat working on an indistinguishable project. Tools were strewn around him and he was clearly working on something. But what that something was, Vera couldn’t tell. The cyborg sat back, admiring his work before looking upward. His eyes met Vera’s and he smiled, waving up to his new crewmate. Vera waves back weakly, placating the man who quickly returned to his task.
Nami stood at the helm, her gaze shifting between the log pose on her wrist and the map held in her other hand. As abruptly as he had entered the library, a beverage wielding Sanji nearly pirouetted across the deck. He landed on one knee, appearing to propose with the colorful drink he offered the ginger navigator. Once the drink had been taken, the cook stood and began visibly gushing over the woman. Though she couldn’t hear what was being said, Vera could tell that verbal honey poured from his mouth in proclamations of his adoration.
The witch’s eyebrows furrowed. Why did the scene before her cause such discomfort? She stood, sending the book she held away with a soft muttering before exiting the room.
Now in a proper foul mood, Vera searched for something to occupy her attention. But being confined to a single ship - no matter how large Sunny was - her options proved limited. Weighing her options, she eventually decided the greatest potential lay with the crow’s nest and a particular swordsman.
Upon lifting the heavy wood of the trap door, sounds of clanking metal and grunts invaded the air. Vera lifted herself into the room, greeted with the sight of a shirtless, sweaty Zoro on his back, a bar with several large weights attached to either side held firmly in his grip. A large scar spanning the man’s broad chest caught her gaze, noting its jagged contrast to the straight line over Zoro’s missing eye.
“What?” The word came out sounding more like a growl. At first, Vera wasn’t sure she’d heard correctly. But as he continued lifting the metal bar, the swordsman’s single eye came to meet with hers - a look of expectation on his face.
“Sorry.” The girl’s fingers toyed with the hem of her skirt, eyes studying the grain lines in the wooden floor.
Metal clanked loudly as the bar was returned to its rack, causing Vera’s attention to return to the green-haired man. Zoro now sat upright, a rag being pressed to his dripping forehead. “What do you want?” This time the question came clear, laced with annoyance.
“I-”
“Out with it.” His arms were crossed over his chest, creating an intimidating pose.
“Is it alright if I stay here for a bit?” Her words were quiet and fast. She wondered for a moment if they’d even reached the swordsman, but he replied with a simple nod before bringing a bottle to his lips.
Vera sighed, taking a moment to look out the windows which encircled the room. A 360 degree view of nothing but clear blue, the only difference being that she could now see more of the seemingly unending ocean than the library could offer.
Vera sat on one of the many benches lining the walls, her gaze returning to Zoro as he reached for a dumbbell. “Is it really okay for me to be here?” She asked, not expecting an answer from the man.
“I said it was fine, didn’t I?” Zoro eyed her whilst his biceps flexed.
The witch shook her head. “I mean on the crew.” The only response she received was a raised eyebrow, and so she continued. “You all barely know me. And sure we haven’t been at sea for long, but I haven’t done anything useful and I feel like I’m just wasting your resources by being here.”
Zoro scoffed, setting the weight down and reaching for his swords. Vera gulped, bracing herself for the attack. With three swords, surely it’d be as painless as possible. He’d behead her in one swift motion and the crew would be rid of a nuisance.
Her eyes squeezed shut in anticipation for the impact. But all that happened was a small click of Zoro’s tongue before he rushed forward, thrusting open the window behind her. Vera opened her eyes in time to see the swordsman lean out the window and shout to the crew below. “Marines! Straight ahead!”
Vera turned, looking out past Sunny’s figurehead and to a tiny dot on the horizon. She’d originally mistaken the ship for a wave or a bird, nothing worthy of a second glance. But upon further inspection, the large white and blue sails were unmistakable. Zoro had rushed out of the crow’s nest before Vera could register his actions. Upon hearing the trap door slam, she was knocked from her thoughts and sprang to follow.
The main deck was in a state of chaos. Bodies ran about, executing orders which Nami shouted. Sails were unfurled and the ship lurched as canvas caught new wind.
A thunderous boom suddenly overpowered all other noise. Vera turned just in time to see a cannonball flying her way. She took a defensive stance, ready to utter a spell when a blur of red ran past her. In an instant, Luffy was in the air. He’d inflated his body to an impossible size, causing the cannonball to bounce off into the water upon impact.
More deafening noise and several balls of iron were headed their way. Zoro and Sanji were the next to jump into action. Zoro swung his swords, a wave of energy cutting a cannonball in half. Sanji leapt out, his leg darkening from the knee down with armament Haki. With a single kick, the offending mass was sent down in a splash.
These people were monsters. In the best possible way.
Another boom and the Sunny heaved, firing a cannon of its own. Vera watched as the ammunition landed just to the left of the Marine vessel. She clutched a railing, steadying herself and fixing her resolve. She would prove useful in this battle.
The enemy ship drew nearer - when had it gotten so close? Marines could be seen, aiming rifles now. Luffy had jumped into the air, his gum gum powers hurtling the man toward yet another cannonball. With the distracting iron, he’d failed to notice the men taking aim from the deck.
Vera acted fast, rushing forward and thrusting her hand outward. With splayed fingers and fear in her eyes, she shouted a spell. “Deleo te in planum astrale, offenso glandibus!”
The men fired their weapons, plumes of smoke rising into the air. But no bullets came. Luffy landed back on the Sunny and turned to his newest crew member with a grin. “Thanks, Vera!”
The girl gave a thumbs up and a weak smile before the world turned black.
The Times I knew.
Steve Rogers x Black!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He tried to hide it. He didn’t wanna seem easy. Or weak. But he couldn’t hide the affection he felt.
Your smile, hair, touch, your face, you in general made him feel something he remembered his mother spoken about when he was little.
She always told him one he would find a woman who would make his heart beat fast every time your eye meets with each. A woman who could make him turn all shade of red even one not known. A woman who makes him feel like a different part of himself. A woman he know he wants to spend his life with.
He knew you was that woman his mother spoke about.
The time you came and comfort him after having a hard day and the look you gave in his eye. He felt something unlock. Your eyes alone unlocked the lock to heart.
The time you were invited to help by him to help him bake his famous apple pie, and you guys ended up with him behind you and you in front looking into each eye while your hands slowly touch while you both knead the pie dough in the bowl. You looked around his face while he stayed frozen you couldn’t help but just quickly kiss his cheek while laughing before going back to kneading. In the corner of your eyes you could see his extremely red face.
The one time on Christmas Eve when he had start to remember his old life in the 40s thunking about his family and old habits he used to take interest in.
You had seen him moping around upset. When it was time for present opening Steve could see you were excited for your present for him. He knew it was something huge from the box size and you locking off the old storage room for two weeks. After opening the gift and showing him his new art room. He could just look and stare at you with love and admiration. He knew you listen and cares he knew you knew the real him.
All these times past just for him to know he wanted you to be his forever.
