As an addendum, here’s a comment from a totally different fic that sums up the problem with stanning Tony (or any character really):
I think it would be very hypocritical of me as a Wanda fan to not see the good in Tony Stark. Despite everything, he did have some redeeming qualities.
Thinking about the habitual lack of empathy fandom extends towards women. Thinking about Wanda Maximoff (MCU specifically). Thinking about Tony Stark (MCU specifically). Do you know how many times when I was trying to read DAREDEVIL FIC that I scrolled past fics that were tagged with some variation on 'not Wanda friendly' or 'Wanda critical'. Do you know how frequently those same fics are Tony Stark centric in a setting where he endangered a child where fandom worships their "parental" relationship.
I just think it's funny that Tony is forgiven by the fandom for what he does to Peter (enabling and encouraging a child to enter a position of responsibility where he is in constant danger) while Wanda is not forgiven for an arc that is functionally the result (see: Wandavision) of exactly the same situation...which Tony also bears some responsibility for.
I am not asking ppl to love Wanda (even though she deserves it) but I DO think it's exceedingly Inchresting that a male character's trauma = thousands of explorations of how he can heal through the power of found family while a female character's trauma = unforgivable crime
If anyone wants to come onto my posts and debate something with me, that’s fine. Do not come onto my posts, curse at me, discredit me, and then block me so I can’t reply to you.
So, @folliesgelly , if you’d like to have a conversation, you are more than welcome to without being disrespectful. I tag everything appropriately, if you love Tony Stark, then what’re you doing here?
A controversial take: when undoing the Snap, they should've had Bruce's snap be such that when he snapped, it turned back time and completely undid the last five years. Basically, erased them like it never happened. Turns time back to when Thanos engaged Wanda as she was actively trying to hold him off while destroying the Mind Stone. This time around, Wanda eviscerates 2018 Thanos on the spot, saving Vision's life in the process, and then she and the others on the Wakanda battlefield are still brought by portal to the upstate New York battlefield to battle 2014 Thanos and his forces.
This should not be a controversial take. The 5 year time skip was, in my opinion, the absolute worst thing Endgame did.
If the film had made it crystal-clear that rewinding time was not an option, then maybe I could forgive the Blip not being undone. But the way it's talked about by Tony and Bruce makes it seem like that is 100% a possibility and he just doesn't want to lose his perfect life (which hilariously doesn't even matter as he dies 20 minutes later anyway).
Tony has done a lot of selfish things across the MCU, but this is the most self-centered he has ever been.
imagine thinking ca:cw existed for a reason that wasnt an rdj tantrum that forced them to scrap cap 3 which was supposed to be focused on steve, bucky and sam, and instead make into ironman 4🤣🤣🤣
