You know which very minor character in the first Tron film needs more love? This guy:

Dillinger's assistant who greets him when he enters his office, and who Dillinger dismisses with "Thank you, Peter, you can go now." Just look at that nice suit and red tie! Anyway, the same actor has another role in the film, as Sark's main underling (which suggests to me that Peter created the Program in question. He's not just a pretty face, he knows how to program too!):

He's never given a name, the Tron wiki refers to him simply as "Sark's Lieutenant". His role seems mainly to be getting abused by Sark, verbally with such funny insults as "bit brain" and "null unit"...

And his final fate is to get surprised by Tron's disc and derezzed before he can do anything to fight back:

In a way, he feels like something of a predecessor to Jarvis in Tron Legacy, though with far less personality and screentime. I can't help but feel a little sorry for him, he seems to have lived a pretty miserable life as a Program. The Tron wiki does note one interesting aspect regarding his physical appearance: "Sark's Lieutenant was the only program in the ENCOM system with visible circuits on the skin of his neck, not just on his suit." It's not very apparent (possibly it's some kind of special effects mistake), but look at his neck in this closeup:

The wiki notes that the only other Program (not ISO) with such skin circuitry is Cyrus. Which is enough for me to start speculating headcanons. Are they related? Is Cyrus a copy of this Program, and Tron felt sorry for him when he met him again, and therefore decided to take him under his wing as the first Renegade? Is the fact that Tron derezzed him the first time they met the reason Cyrus goes crazy?

Anyway, the actor who played the Lieutenant/Peter is a guy named Stuart Thomas, credited as "Tony Stephano". Let's do a quick search to see what else he's done...

so mascot!jj isn’t exactly a nerd, not by any extension of the meaning. infact, he’s a social butterfly, a novelty — people know him as the mascot guy and no one could ever replace him, the way he’ll run onto the field mid game and hype the audience up, somehow knowing the moves and joining the cheerleaders in some dances all whilst geared up in a giant tiger costume with the university’s logo on its colourful tshirt. the people liked him a lot.

you’re the shy cheerleader, and jj loves shy girls. he’s the opposite of shy, so it just makes his dick tingle a little. he approaches you after every game, hair sweaty and stuck up in unusual places with the head of his mascot costume tucked under his arm, cheeks all pink. you think he’s cute, in a cool yet dorky way. after a particularly great win, jj is quick across the field to see you. he’s of course bombarded with the barrage of cheerleaders who think he is ‘adorable’, kissing his cheek and ruffling his sweaty hair— because everyone loves the mascot guy.

“alright, alright, let me through ladies.” he chuckles awkwardly, peeling them off him as they aw, embarrassing him slightly. he waddles over to you with a bashful smile, trying to switch his game back on. “really shook those pom poms out there, girl.” he praises, cringing at himself.

“huh?” you giggle, eyes twinkling up at him— which didn’t help him much in getting back on track.

“yeah— uh, nah what i meant to say was you were… great, like dude — when you did that cartwheel? you killed that shit!” he celebrates and you beam, shaking your head humbly.

“really? thank you— i mean i thought it was a little shaky but…”

“you kiddin’ me? you were amazing, and — well,” he gestures to you with his giant paw. “you look amazing. really, like you’re gorgeous.”

you get shy, clasping your hands at your front as you shrug. “thank you j—”

the conversation is interrupted by the football team passing through— a kaleidoscope of jersey colours bursting through between the two of you until rafe cameron himself has arrived, looping you into a hug to celebrate his big win. jj’s face flattens in annoyance before scrunching up awkwardly, looking around and waiting for him to be done.

rafe glances at jj when he pulls away, keeping a hand on your waist. “lets get out of here, alright? too many nobodies.”

jj clears his throat. “yeah, uh— was kinda havin’ a conversation bro but whatever i guess. congrats.” he sarks, irritated making rafe turn back around, eyeing him up.

“oh, well — i’m really sorry about that tony the tiger.” rafe feigns innocence before bursting into a boyish chuckle, making the players around him laugh too. your brows furrow, going to say something but rafe drags you away, leaving you to twist in his grasp and give the blonde a polite parting wave. jj lifts his arm unenthusiastically in his own wave farewell, lips pressed together.

he’s sure he’ll get you alone another day.

Top Ten Iron Man Suit-Up Moments in the MCU

Ah, back to the MCU; along with stuff to do with Transformers, this is absolutely my Top Ten comfort zone (memo to self: “Top Ten Comfort Zones”). And where would the MCU be without Iron Man? The lodestone of the entirely seventy-film, eighty-year saga (or something like that). Robert Downey Jr’s portrayal of Tony Stark really did set the tone for the entire endeavour though; he was the backbone of the franchise for about a decade, and provided it with some of its best and most iconic moments, right up until his heroic death in Endgame (spoiler alert).

Whilst a lot of what made Downey’s Stark so great was his delivery – his louche demeanour, his charming arrogance, his way with a nifty nickname (“Legolas”, “Manchurian Candidate”, “Lebowski”), so much of it also derived from how well various filmmakers displayed his signature superhero hook – that is to say, the Iron Man armour itself. Right from the off, Jon Favreau rooted the visual style of the first Iron Man in an attempt at something approaching down-to-Earth realism; from the gritty Middle East-set opening, with its War on Terror-evoking palette and action, through to the street-level action and boardroom shenanigans, it felt a world away from Tim Burton Gothic Gotham City or the hyper-colourful New York of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, and a lot closer to what Christopher Nolan was attempting at the same time over in his Dark Knight trilogy. And this extended to the portrayal of the suits; all whirring cogs and shifting pistons. Whilst we know arc reactors and repulsors and the things of fantasy, the armour itself still felt like something that could just about exist in the real world. I remember back in 2008 thinking the most out-there aspect of the whole film was the idea that Stark could have designed a sentient AI in the present day.

As the films ploughed on, barrelling into the wider MCU with aplomb, the scale, scope, and tone shifted somewhat. As soon as giant green rage monsters, space Vikings, and wizards became part of the MCU, Tony’s humble suits ran the risk of looking quaint. As such, new films explored new ways of dressing up Our Tone, giving him snazzier duds that he was able to pull on in new and exciting ways. And that’s what this list celebrates; not the various Iron Man armours themselves, but the really cool ways Tony gets dressed into them in different films. Because – again, right from the very start – one of the showpiece spectacle moments of most Iron Man appearances has been seeing him suit up for the first time in each movie, revelling in the way the armour wraps itself around Downey’s frame. It also helps to showcase the different styles and improvements he’s made over the years. And that’s what I’m ranking here. Just below.

One caveat: I’ve called this a “suit-up” list, but there are a couple of outliers here. Some are when he’s removing his suit; I think it still counts, because it’s seeing the different ways it goes on or comes off that I like (er, that sounds dodgy). And there’s at least one that’s technically not really a suit at all, but it’s something Iron Man-y that Iron Man wears, so I’m including it. What can I say? I love it three thousand.

The Briefcase Suit (Iron Man 2, 2010): after the first film had established the concept of Tony Sark putting on his shiny metal pyjamas, the second one naturally had to twist it and show it off in a new and exciting way. As an inventor, it helped to also show Stark’s ingenuity; as a comic adaptation, it would be cool to call back to something from the source. Hence the transportable suit-in-a-can, a briefcase that contains a lightweight easy-on version of the armour. It’s cool on a number of levels but for me the best bit is the way it goes on, unfolding accordion-like, pulled in two separate directions to activate the armour. It looks great, and this whole sequence is by a mile the best thing in the film.

One-Button Suit-Up (Captain America: Civil War, 2016): taking the ingenuity to heretofore unmatched heights is the suiting-up process in Stark’s private jet. Up till now the film has deliberately shied away from Iron Man, instead giving us Stark the negotiator, the politician. Now, finally, he suits up, pressing just one button on his chair, only for the mechanisms to spring forth and wrap around his finger, as he’s pulled backwards into the plane as parts of his armour are built up automatically around him. It’s an almost organic process and while it makes little practical sense it does look great.

Automatic Suit Removal (The Avengers, 2012): here we do have, to be honest, a suit-off process. Landing on the balcony-slash-runway of his sumptuous tower (full-tilt diva), a series of circular tracks rotate around him as mechanical arms grab and remove all the parts of his armour. It’s a streamlined version of the robot arms we’ve seen in the prior Iron Man movies, and the fact it takes place along walkway gives it an almost assembly-line feeling. The icing on the cake, though, is how nonchalant Stark is, never breaking his stride or slowing down as the machines do all the work.

Mark 42 (Iron Man 3, 2013): Stark’s travails with his new armour in this movie are a recurring gag. The new suit is – a bit like the robo-arms from earlier films – given a good deal of personality and there’s a lot of humour as the individual components rocket around and bounce off things as they try to find their mark on Stark. It’s a great, fun sequence that again shows off Stark’s inventiveness; and it’s paid off again and again, especially when he calls upon the armour to rescue him doesn’t go quite as well as he’d hoped. I also want to shout out the homemade jerry-rigged “suit” he builds out of the contents of a local B&Q, but as we don’t really have a “suit-up” moment for that I didn’t include it in the list.

The Nano Suit (Avengers: Infinity War, 2018): after praising the more down-to-Earth nature of some of the suits, here we go with something so outlandishly futuristic it borders on magical. It was fairly obvious Downey was leaving the franchise because really, where do you go from here? A nanotech Iron Man suit that almost bleeds itself over his body, generating weapons and shields organically. It’s a great effect, and the culmination of every bit of tech we’ve seen from him before. But it’s the first moment he puts it on that really rocks, when he tosses his glasses aside and seemingly tugs on the strings of his hoody to activate it. He is Iron Man.

The Watch (Captain America: Civil War): yeah, here we go again with something that can only charitably be referred to as “a suit”. But it’s just so damn cool, and again it’s another show of his ingenuity. Many references are made to him being a “civilian” in Civil War, only wearing his “Tom Ford” suit. But when the need arises, he taps a few commands into his watch and then sort of pulls it over his hand in one incredibly cool motion, creating one Iron Man glove. It allows him to off a few repulsor blasts and is robust enough to stop a bullet at point-blank range with seemingly no ill-effects.

Veronica (Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2015): the Hulkbuster armour is something from the comics so naturally everyone was clamouring to see it realised on-screen. Its use in Age of Ultron is great – the best bit of the film? Nah, that’s Hawkeye’s “the city is floating” speech – because of how it’s teased and how it unfolds. We know that “Veronica” (a nice play on Betty and Veronica) has been designed by Stark and Banner to control the Hulk just in case, which adds a good bit of tragedy to the proceedings. But launching from space, initially plonking great walls around the Jolly Green Giant, with some kind of Centurions-style wing-suit just about visible attaching itself to Iron Man in the background. And then the reveal: all the component parts fired from space, clicking into place around Stark’s existing armour, his squat round head flopping down over his tiny human head. And the fight begins, which is great; bonus “suit-up” points for replacement limbs flying in when Hulk trashes the existing ones.

Mid-Air Suit-Up (The Avengers): Stark’s nifty suit-removal system in his penthouse has already been singled out, but there’s another really cool moment in Avengers. Typically this scene is remembered, I’d say, for Stark’s “We have a Hulk” line to Loki, but his suit-up is great too. Slyly putting on some wristbands during his convo, he’s chucked out a window and mid-fall his new suit is fired to him, locking onto those fancy bracelets (still attempting some kind of just about plausible technology at this stage) and then folding itself around him like an uncomfortable-looking billion-dollar blanket.

Testing the Mark 2 (Iron Man, 2008): the iconic red-and-gold Iron Man armour is actually the third suit he wears in his debut film. And whilst it’s cool and all, it’s this, the first “real” suit-up moment, that I think set the stage for all that followed. Stark’s various automated arms and appliances piece the suit together around him, with lots of close-ups of screws being whirred into place and different flaps and hinges opening and closing. It’s an almost pornographic depiction of metal, a real petrolhead’s dream of the future. As I said before, the realism afforded this suit – its tactility and rigidity, its almost plausibility – gave the whole film and, really, the whole MCU a solid foundation.

House Party Protocol (Iron Man 3): well, where to start? The finale of Iron Man 3 might be another CG-heavy aerial battle, but conceptually it’s so damn fun. The running theme of a traumatised Stark building too many suits comes to a head as he unleashes all of them, running on autopilot, but available for him to jump into and out of at a moment’s notice as he battles the metal-melting Extremis-addled baddies. Cue a helter-skelter sequence of Stark leaping into one suit, ejecting just in time, losing (mechanical) limbs, getting picked up by another suit, et cetera. It’s hilarious and – that word again – ingenious and in culminates in a fantastic Mark 42 gag.

Shame I didn’t have room for Stark using the Mark 42 to save Pepper in Iron Man 3, but there’s only so much you can do. I think the various ways filmmakers have depicted these suit-up (and suit-down) moments over the years has been tremendous fun. Thus far, the “Iron Man-adjacent” characters we’ve met in Black Panther haven’t had anywhere near as cool a moment to shine. Hopefully the Ironheart show will give us a new contender.

Also, looking at the gif from Civil War again: where does the top of the glove come from? These films make no sense!

-You nearly screamed when Pepper asked you to take Morgan trick or treating

-Of course you would!

-You want to get closer with the five year old

-Ever since you came back and Tony died, you wanted to get to know your sister

-Now is your chance!!

-So here you are, helping Morgan change

-"It is so cute!"

-She is dressing as Iron Man

-"It is awesome, isn't it Mommy?

-She grabs her bag to put candy in

-"Lets go!"

-You take her to the neighbors first

-"When you get to the door say trick or treat and open your bag, okay?"

-She executes it perfectly

-You make it all around town and get to the 'scary' part, last

-You were used to being here on this part of town

-You are 19 now, but you used to be a rebel

-You go to a few houses and notice Morgan starting to yawn

Three weeks later and things were better. You had gone back to New York with the team just in time for Peter’s graduation. Even though the whole team wanted to be there Peter decided that he didn’t need a spectacle and in the end, his girlfriend and mentor would be the only ones attending while the rest set up for a surprise party later.

Girlfriend. You couldn’t get over how nice that sounded. As you stood in front of the mirror in Peter’s favorite multicolored sundress you smiled.

It was off the shoulder hugged your body perfectly and ended just above your knee in a ruffled hem. You left your makeup light on account of the heat and pulled your hair back in a curly bun with a few curls framing your face and your edges expertly laid.

You absentmindedly brushed the scar on the back of your neck. It brought back all kinds of horrors that you had to push aside. That was something for therapy.

As you were spritzing perfume on yourself there was a knock at your door.

“Y/N you ready? Car’s running,” your dad called from the other side of the door.

“Yeah,” you replied and opened the door to face your father dressed neatly in a blue button-down, pants, sneakers, and his signature glasses, “Handsome,” you told him simply hooking your arm around his and beginning to walk down the hall towards the elevators.

“Beautiful,” he replied and you reached the entrance in no time, the doors open and waiting.

You got to Peter’s school in no time having left early enough to evade the worst of the traffic. The ceremony itself was swift, the graduating class was small but to your surprise, as you and your father were waiting with the other families outside for the graduates you felt a light tap on your shoulder.

Confused, you turned around only to be met with the beaming smile of your favorite Princess.

“Shuri?!” You asked incredulously.

“Y/N! I’ve missed you how are you?” She asked pulling you into a hug which you gratefully accepted.

“I’m good! What are you doing here?” You asked pulling back, still a little shocked.

“Well, it just so happens that someone I am seeing is graduating today as well,” she smiled and wiggled her eyebrows at you.

You tilted your head in question but before she could answer you heard her name being called. You both turned around at the sound to see MJ practically running towards her.

Shuri opened her arms and instead of a hug, MJ planted a sweet kiss on her lips.

You were shocked, you put your hands on your hips and glared playfully as they pulled away.

“So neither of you were planning to tell me about this?” You questioned and they just smiled at you, threading their hands together.

“Oh you would’ve figured it out at the party later,” Shuri giggled, leaning into MJ’s side. You rolled your eyes but couldn’t hide your excited smile.

“I think it’s sweet, you guys are a great match,” Tony spoke up, smiling at the two young ladies

“Thanks, Stark,” Shuri said and MJ nodded in agreement, she’d never admit it but the man still made her nervous.

“Shuri, my mom wants us to take pictures before we leave,” MJ said and her girlfriend nodded.

“No problem, see you guys at the party later,” Shuri spoke.

“Bye guys,” MJ waved and they both walked away, giddy as ever.

You and your father both waved back.

“Wow they’re so cute together,” you told him and he hummed in agreement. “Speaking of cute, where is my boyfriend?”

“Gross Y/N,” he replied but began looking around regardless.

“Found him, Hap and May got to him first,” he said pointing to the trio.

The excitement you felt just from seeing the back of his head was almost too much, you practically sprinted and threw your arms around him. He jumped slightly at the contact as you pressed yourself against his back.

“Congratulations Peter!” He turned around in your arms and smiled down at you.

“Thank you, Y/N,” he beamed and cupped your face in his hands, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.

“Hey, don’t hog the graduate,” Your father complained and you rolled your eyes before releasing him.

Your father was quick to give Peter a hug as he walked up to him, “Congrats kid. Allow me to be the first—”

May cleared her throat.

“Second,” Tony tried again.

Happy silently shook his head in response.

“Fine third you a graduation present,” he finally finished.

With that, he fished a set of keys out from his pocket and handed them to Peter.

“Is this...” Peter began but was slightly stunned into silence.

“Yup, the Spyder with a few Stark modifications, enjoy it,” he smiled.

“Wow, thank you so much, Mr. Stark,” Peter gave your father another big hug which also knocked the man over.

“Wanna take it for a test drive?” You offered.

Peter nodded excitedly and you handed your own keys over to Tony before taking your boyfriend's hand.

“We’ll meet you guys at the tower!” You called over your shoulder as you waved goodbye to the group.

When you were both out of earshot May spoke absentmindedly to the two men.

“I can’t wait to plan their wedding,” she smiled.

Tony rubbed at his eyes.

When you got to the car Peter was quick to open the door for you and then toss his cap and gown in the trunk before slipping into the driver's seat.

“I think this might be too nice for me, Y/N” he spoke, taking in all the upgrades and sheer beauty of it.

“Please, you deserve this and so much more,” smiled taking his hand, prompting him to look in your eyes and smile back.

He took the hand that was on the steering wheel and expertly avoided your low bun to place his hand on the back of your neck to bring you in for a slow, loving kiss.

Once again you thought about how much you loved him, how perfect everything felt when you were together. It was like every single star is the sky aligned just to shine on the two of you.

Just before things get too heated you place your hand on his chest and push him back slightly, resting your forehead on his.

“As much as I’d love to christen your new car, we should get back to the tower. No reason to keep them waiting,” you smirked.

Peter gave a dramatic sigh and sat back in his seat, “Fine~ I guess this is what I get for having the girl everybody wants,” he said starting the car.

“But don’t forget she only has eyes for you,” you have the back of his hand a kiss as he pulled out of the lot.

“And I for her,” he smiled.

Once the two of you got back to the tower you had to try you best to force Peter to avoid looking for the others. Nat had texted you on the way that they weren’t quite done with everything and you were tasked with distracting him.

And distract him you did.

Under the guise of your feet hurting from hours spent in the low heels, you were wearing. Peter looked skeptical but followed you to your room to grab a pair of slides nonetheless. Only, he questioned you further when you had him walk in first and then you locked the door behind yourself.

“Everything alright, Y/N?” He asked, but still kicked off his own shoes before relaxing on the giant bean bag chair beside the bed.

You turned around slowly, keeping your hands behind your back as you leaned against the door kicking off your heels and staring at him. Gosh, everything about him is perfect, you thought. He tilted his head to the side and you walked to him slowly. When you reached arm's length he sat up slightly and held your hips and smiled up at you.

“What is it, babe?”

You carded one hand through his hair and leaned down to capture his lips in a short kiss. Your words were a whisper against his lips.

“You’re so pretty.” Without a second's hesitation, Peter was laughing at your omission. It took no effort for him to pull you down onto him, across his lap. You let out your own giggle at his antics.

“All these theatrics because you think I’m pretty?” The skepticism was back in his voice and it made you roll your eyes.

“Is it such a crime to think my boyfriend is pretty?” You pouted.

“No, as long as you don’t forget how gorgeous you are.” Peter looked you up and down .”Especially in this dress. Do you know how hard it was to hold back when I saw you wearing this in the bleachers?”

“I was hoping you’d like it,” you grinned.

“Like it? I absolutely love it.” As if to prove this point he left a trail of kisses from shoulder to shoulder before going up your neck and leaving several more in his wake. It wasn’t long before his lips found your own and you were sharing a passionate kiss.

Your arms locked around his neck, fingers slipping through his hair again and tugging slightly even so often. Meanwhile, Peter had one hand locked around your waist, keeping him firmly against him while the other trailed slowly up your back. You could feel him beginning to tug at your zipper when a knock interrupted. The two of you halted. Breathing heavily as whoever it was stood outside silently for a few seconds.

“Yeah?” You called, almost breathless.

“We’re about to eat if you guys wanna, y’know join us,” Natasha spoke and from her tone, you could tell you were in trouble.

You glanced at Peter and the two of you shared a silent laugh.

“We’ll be right there!”

After straightening yourselves out and slipping on spare slides and sneakers, respectfully you grabbed Peter’s hand and led him towards the elevator.

“We’re not eating here?” He asked.

“Oh, we are.” You replied and hit the button for the roof as you got it.

“Y/N what are we—“

You pressed a finger to his lips. “Shh, all will be revealed, my love.” Peter only rolled his eyes before licking your finger and you recoiled.

“Gross!” You exclaimed

“Oh really? Well just wait until—“ But his words were cut off once again as the elevator reached its destination.

A shout of “Surprise!” Rang out from everyone on the rooftop which had been decorated with the utmost care as a ‘Congratulations Peter’ banner hovered over the crowd in red and blue. Everyone was there, all the Avengers, MJ and Ned, Strange and even Shuri. The genuine look of surprise and joy on Peter’s face was enough to have you praying that DUM-E was actually recording like you told it to. If not, it was going to be the new jungle gym for an elementary school.

As Peter gave his greets and thanks to his guests you drifted over towards your mom who was holding a sleeping Morgan in her arms.

“You two look happy,” She smiled.

You couldn’t help the grin that took over your features. “We are, we really really are.”

Pepper took a sip of her drink. “I hope you’re using protection, Morgan and I are a little too young to be grandma and niece.” You sputtered at that, grateful that you didn't have a drink in your hand.

“Mom please.”

“I’m just saying. Maybe next time,” she gestured to her own neck, “cover-up.” She winked.

You gasped and coved your neck quick as lightning, “I’m gonna kill him.”

“Here’s your chance.” She winked before walking off under the guise of wanting to put your sister down.

You felt Peter before you saw him, an arm wrapped around your waist and his lips kissed your temple. You wanted to be annoyed but you leaned in on instinct instead.

“I’m gonna kill you, Parker,” you spoke but your threat was weak.

“Whoa, and here I was about to thank you for this wonderful surprise,” he pouted, moving in front of you and placing both hands on your waist. The two of you were near the edge of the roof while the others were towards the center giving you a feeling of pseudo privacy.

“Well you’re welcome but our entrance would have been much better if it wasn’t for this.” You pointed accusingly at your neck and he squinted. You swatted at his chest at his antics.

“Ah, what? It’s really not that bad,” He leaned in close to whisper in your ear, “I could have done a lot more damage.”

You shivered even though at sunset it was still almost eighty degrees, Peter wasn’t playing fair and he knew it.

You whispered back. “Well, maybe next time you do it so I can enjoy I.” To accentuate your point you left a kiss just below his ear, heating your body up just enough to get a reaction out of him.

Peter groaned and his grip on your waist tightened as he placed his forehead against yours and smiled.

“I will. But seriously, thank you for all of this. I couldn’t ask for a better girlfriend,” his voice was still quiet, like it was a secret just between the two of you.

You wrapped your arms around his neck. “Have I told you how much I love hearing you call me that?”

“Well how about I change that?”

You were confused as Peter removed one hand to fish around in his pocket. He took a hand step back from you and you let your arms fall back to your sides. He finally pulled out a blue velvet box and slowly opened the lid. You were met with a beautiful platinum ring with a gemstone — your birthstone — nestled beside Peter’s birthstone, peridot. You could feel the tears welling in your eyes.

“Peter is this…?”

“It’s not a formal engagement but it is most certainly a promise. We’ve been through a lot these last few years and I realized that the reason I got through any of it was you by my side. And when we’re ready I want to make this an engagement ring.” He explained and there was so much emotion in his eyes you wondered if he would cry too. “So what do you say?” “I love it, god, I love you,” You spoke and that was enough for him to push the box back in his pocket and place the ring on your finger. It was a perfect fit and you couldn’t help but stare at it for a few moments before you looked back at the love of your life.

“I love you too, Y/N. More than you know.” And with that, he pulled you into a loving kiss that probably would have gone on for too long if it wasn’t for the cheers and shouts behind you.

You turned around and hugged Peter around the middle, the two of you laughed at your friends and family together and you couldn't help be bask in this feeling of love and peace.

With Peter by your side, you knew anything was possible.

19.) “I believe in you.”

“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” Anthony questioned his daughter, who was furiously typing on the portable computer. The young girl peaked from behind her hair, answering him. “Maybe…”

The drone that the two Stark’s had built together was ready for lift off. Overall it was the youngest Stark who built the drone, with minor adjustments from her dad. Tony kissed the side of his daughter’s head before she grumbled under her breath.

“You’re ruining my mojo.” She started to grow frustrated with herself; setting the computer down, she stormed off passed the drone and the car. The body guard, Harold “Happy” Hogan, said the girl’s name, but she shook her head and ran a few more yards. Coming to a stop, she plopped into the tall grass, almost disappearing in it. Tony stood up and stuck his hands in his pockets.

“She alright, boss?” Tony nodded to Happy and reached down to pick up the computer. Slowly, he walked to his daughter, her knees pulled to her chest, her brown hair getting tangled with the grass. He sighed and joined her, quietly sitting next to her. The grass moved with the wind and reminded them of waves of the ocean.

“You’re smarter than this, Jae.”

“I know.” That caused the two of them to laugh, and Tony wrapped his arm around his daughter, who in return leaned into him.

“I believe in you,” Jaedyn looked over to her dad, and he had a proud smile on his face. He normally had that for whatever she did, but the project had frustrated her for the last week. She wanted to be able to build things like her father. Slowly, she pulled the computer into her lap and started to type again. “When you stormed off the computer logged off, you might want to log back in…and yes, you’ll have to start the process of loading the drone up again.” She huffed a heavy sigh before typing in her initials, then her birth date.

Her wide, hazel eyes stared at the computer. Tony pulled her disheveled hair and pulled it behind her ears, Jaedyn knowing what he’s doing instantly. She raised one hand, Tony taking the hair tie that rested on her wrist. He tied it back into a pony tail and smoothed her hair down, a curious smiled that could have been considered genetic playing on her lips. “You’ve got my smarts, put them to use.”

“I think I got it-” The sound of the starting up of the drone’s blades caused the two of them to turn back. It quickly hovered, and Jae got the hang of steering it, controlling the drone to rise higher into the clear sky. “I did it!” She exclaimed, obviously happy with herself.

“Told you. All you needed was a little bit more time.”

“Helped that you believed in me, though.” She handed the computer to him and stood up, him taking it once she stood. He stood and set a hand on her shoulder as the two of them walked and followed the drone, Jaedyn flying it into the sky.

“I’ll always believe in you, Jaedyn.”

THE TEACHER MASTERLIST

Tony Stark x Reader

Word Count: 4,000ish

Summary: Tony goes to Peter’s parent teacher conferences.

“Are you sure, Tony? I really can move work around. It’s not that big of deal.”

“May, the kid was worried about you losing your job over trying to make it to parent-teacher conferences,” Tony said. “I’m on his guardian list, just let me do it.”

“I don’t know, Tony,” May said, hesitant. “You’ve never gone before.”

“Doesn’t matter. I just visit each of the teachers and listen to them praise the kid, then let you know if there’s anything wrong.”

May was silent on the other end of the phone before resounding with a sign, “Okay, okay. Just let me know how everything goes.”

“Of course.”

Tony was just about finished with Peter’s parent teacher conferences, he had one more left. Peter’s favorite teacher, his science teacher. Peter always went off about how amazing his science teacher was, so Tony was very interested in meeting this teacher. As he walked into the class room, he lost his breath at the sight before him. 

Peter had never said that his science teacher was a woman. Let alone the most beautiful woman Tony had ever seen. And that was saying something. He had seen and been with many hot women. But this woman was different.

“Oh, Mr. Stark,” you greeted with a smile, surprised by his presence. “Peter didn’t tell me that you’d be meeting with me, I was expecting his aunt May.”

“Well…” He cleared his throat and fixed his tie as he walked over to the chair in front of your desk. “Unfortunately, May had to work, so I offered to come in her place.”

“That’s very kind of you, Mr. Stark.”

“Tony. Mr. Sark was my father.”

“Well, Tony, let’s get talking about Peter. He’s doing wonderful. He’s so smart and easily the best student in all of my classes.”

“The kid sings your praises as well.”

“Oh.” A warm blush crept up your neck. “Well, I’m sure it’s not all that great.”

“Actually, he doesn’t shut up about you. You’ve really made a difference in his life.”

“Well…” You nervously swallowed. “That’s so sweet of him to think that. And honestly, he doesn’t shut up about you either, Mr. S—Tony. You’ve really changed his life around.”

“What can I say? Parker’s a great kid.”

“He is. So, do you have any questions for me—“

“Will you go out with me?”

“You did what?!” Your best friend screamed.

“I told him no,” you repeated, balancing your phone between your ear and shoulder as you tried to unlock your apartment and not drop anything. “It’s not right. He’s technically the guardian of one of my students.”

“He’s also, technically, a billionaire. And you’re a teacher who’s barely scraping by.”

“I’m doing fine, thanks.” You had finely gotten into your apartment, dumping everything in your arms onto the counter. “Honestly, I felt kind of bad. Just by his facial reaction, I don’t think that anyone has ever told him no before.”

“Well obviously no one is as stupid as you!”

“Thanks for making me feel better about this.”

“I’m joking!” Your friend’s laughter slowly died out. “You know I love you right?”

“I do.”

“And that I just want what’s best for you?”

“Yes.”

“Then I’m telling you this out of the kindness of my heart, you need to hunt that man down and tell him you’ve changed your mind.”

“I can’t do that… I don’t even think I’m ready to get out there yet.”

“Y/N, it’s been a year.”

“I know,” you sighed. “But being left at the alter isn’t something you get over easily. Especially after having dated the person for more than two years. Maybe next year.”

“Y/N, I love you, but you won’t fully heal until you start getting out there again.”

“Hey, Mr. Stark,” Peter greeted, coming into the lab. “I stopped by to see how parent teacher conferences went. Did you meet Ms. Y/L/N? She’s great, isn’t she? Did you—“

“Yeah, kid, she was great,” Tony grumbled as he worked on a suit. “It all went well. You’re very impressive to your teachers.”

“Umm…” Peter walked around to the other side of the table to get a look at Tony. “Then, why do I get the sense then that it didn’t go so good?”

Tony groaned. “Because… it just didn’t.”

“Did I do something to upset one of my teachers… or you?”

“Don’t worry about it kid.” He waved Peter off. “I just don’t have it like I used to,” he muttered.

“Have what?”

“Boss tried to ask Ms. Y/L/N out,” FRIDAY stated.

“FRIDAY,” Tony murmured.

“And she said no.”

“Well that’s not really surprising,” Peter commented.

Tony’s held snapped up. “What did you just say?” He pointed accusingly at the boy.

“I-I-I didn’t mean it like that, Mr. Stark!” Peter held up his hands. “Not at all! I said it because she hasn’t gone on a date sense her fiancé left her at the alter almost a year ago. That’s why it’s not surprising.”

“Her fiancé left her?”

“Yeah, after dating for like two years. At least that’s what she told May.”

“So… it’s not necessarily me. It’s that she—“

“She distrusts any man that shows any interest in her.”

“Well, I guess I’ll just have to prove to her that I mean it. And you, kid, are gonna help me.”

You were at the school, prepping for the day’s lessons, when a knock sounded at the door. Looking up, you saw Tony Stark waltzing in, suit and sunglasses on, with a bouquet of your favorite flowers in hand.

“Mr. Stark?” You questioned. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to thank you for being so kind to Peter and to apologize for last night,” Tony said, coming up to your desk. “And it’s Tony, remember?"

“What about last night?”

“If I made you uncomfortable by asking you out, I sincerely apologize.”

“Oh, Tony. It’s fine. I wasn’t uncomfortable at all.” He offered the flowers and you carefully took them. “This are beautiful, thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” he smiled. He clasped his hands behind his back and rocked on his feet as Tony looked around the room. “I was wondering if I might be able to observe your class? See what all Peter’s rambling is about.”

“Umm, I guess. But don’t you have—“

“Great. Is that table in the back taken?” Tony pointed, already heading to it. The bell rang, signaling that it was time for the students to head to their classes. “Just in time.”

You were a little taken back and completely unprepared for a guest to watch your glasses today. Especially a guest such as Tony Stark. Your first period students were quick to notice that Iron Man was sitting in the back of the room. They were whispering to each other, thinking that they were being quiet enough. But there eyes gave most of it away, the continual glances back at him. Though Tony didn’t seem to be bothered. In fact, he seemed to to it and wouldn’t take his eyes off you. Once the late bell rang, you let out a long breath.

“Okay, class,” you greeted, clapping your hands together. “I know you all have noticed that we have a guest in the room. Mr. Tony Stark. But he is only here to observe. Not for you to whisper about, stare at, and not to answer questions. We have a lot to do today, so—“

“Yes, like Ms, Y/L/N, said,” Tony interrupted, standing up, “I am here to observe only. Nothing more. Please keep your focus on your fantastic teacher and do as she says.”

“Thank you, Mr. Stark,” you said through a tight smile. He smirked, giving you a wink before sitting back down. “Alright class, pull out your textbooks and notebooks, we’re going to prepare for an experiment we’ll be doing in a few days.”

Tony willingly sat through the first three classes without any issue. He said the same speech about being here to observe, every class. His eyes rarely left you, only doing so to work on something on his phone. By the time second period ended, word had gotten around about the guest in your classroom and the principals made stop by to check in. 

Shutting the door after the last student had left, you leaned against it, closing your eyes.

“You’re very impressive,” Tony commented, coming over to you. “Mr. Parker was right.”

“Thank you,” you replied, giving him a tired smile. You moved over to your desk, him following behind.

“Isn’t it lunch? Shouldn’t you be headed to the, like, uh… the teacher’s place where they eat?”

You giggled. “The faculty lounge? Yeah, no. I have assignments to grade. I usually work through lunch and just eat something when I get home.”

Tony clicked his tongue and shook his head in disapproval as you sat down in your desk. You began to pull out papers to grade.

“That will not do,” Tony said. “How long’s lunch?”

“Forty-five minutes,” you replied. 

“Perfect. What do you want?”

“No, Tony, you really don’t have to—“

“I insist. It’s the least I can do after barging into your classroom for the day. So, name anything, and I’ll go pick it up.”

You hesitantly agreed, telling him your favorite food, that you knew wouldn’t be too hard to get. Tony quickly left, allowing you for the first time that day to have some peace and quiet. You got quite a lot of assignments graded in the ten minutes that Tony was gone. He came in with a bag of food in each hand. You cleared off your desk and allowed him to pass out the food.

“Thank you, Tony,” you said, after taking a bite. “You really didn’t have to do this.”

“It’s nothing.”

You were about to put more food in your mouth when you suddenly stopped short. “Wait… was this your way to get me to go out with you?”

“Technically, this isn’t going out. This is eating in your high school classroom. If I had taken you out, the place would be mush nicer than this.”

“You sneaky bastard,” you muttered.

You and Tony spent the rest of lunch eating and grading, he had offered to help. He cleaned up your lunch as you readied for the last period of the day when the bell rang. Tony was back in his normal seat when Peter walked in.

“Hey, Ms. Y/L/N!” He greeted with a wave. “Hey, Mr. Stark!”

“Hello, Peter,” you smiled. “May I actually speak to you for a moment?”

“Uh… sure.” He made his way over to your desk. “What did you need to see me for?”

“I’m going to take a wild guess that you have something to do with that guest in the back of my room,” you whispered, “correct?”

“I—I… uh… y-yes… but only cause Mr. Stark was very insistent that I help.”

“Help with what exactly?”

“Getting you to go on a date with him. Is it working? Are you two going to go out?”

You shook your head. “I am not talking about this with you. Now, please Mr. Parker, take your seat and get ready for class.”

“Need anymore help grading?” Tony asked, waltzing up to your desk after the last class had left.

“I think I’m good,” you replied.

“So… have you rethought about my offer?”

“It’s still a no, Tony. I just… I’m sorry. It’s a no.”

“That’s okay.”

“Okay? You’re okay with it?”

“Yes. But only cause I’m not done trying.”

For the next month, Tony spent two to three days a week in your class room. And you hated to admit, but you were actually enjoying it. He was caring, charming, and extremely brilliant. You had even began letting him help, allowing him to bring things in from Stark Industries for the students to use.

He brought you lunch and flowers every day he was there. Tony would ask you if you had rethought his offer to take you out at the end of everyday. You always answered with a no and he would always answer with a “good thing I’m not done trying”.

It was the end of another long day and you and Tony were cleaning up your classroom.

“I have a question I want to ask you,” Tony stated. 

He sleeves of his tee were currently rolled up as he wiped down the tables after an experiment. You had thought he was attractive in a suit, but him in jeans and a tee shirt really got to you.

“No, Tony,” you sighed with a smile, “I will not go out with you.”

“That was not what I was going to ask you, at least not yet. But I’ll quickly reply with my usual, I’m not done trying. Anyway, back to my original question, how do you think the students would like a field trip to the Tower?”

“The Tower? As in, Avengers Tower?”

“The very same.”

“Oh my gosh, Tony. They’d absolutely love it! And, as much as I hate to admit it, so would I.”

“It’s settled then. I’ll have one of my employees contact the principal and get it all arranged for next week.”

The Tower had always intrigued you from the outside, but the inside blew your mind away. The tour, surprisingly, was led by Tony Stark himself and mainly consisted of the labs and other things of scientific use. As you and your students entered the lab, you were in awe of all that surrounded you. Even more in awe of Dr. Bruce Banner, who was smiling at the group as he walked up.

“Ms. Y/N Y/L/N, I’d like you to meet Dr. Bruce Banner,” Tony introduced, after telling the students that they could look around but not touch. “Banner, I’d like you to meet Y/N Y/L/N.”

You took Bruce’s outstretched hand, trying not to fangirl too much as you shook it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Dr. Banner.”

“Please,” the man said, “call me Bruce. And the pleasure’s all mine. I’ve heard so much about you.”

“Oh. Well, hopefully nothing too bad.”

“Nothing bad at all. All good things, I assure you.”

“That makes me feel a little better.”

“I’m just glad to know you’re actually real.”

“Hey!” Tony exclaimed.

“Oh, calm down, Tony,” you patted his arm. “You big baby.”

Bruce leaned in close to your ear. “Just between the two of us, thank you for putting his ego in its place. You saying no has really done wonders.”

“I’ll be sure to keep it up then.”

The students and you were gone now, leaving Bruce and Tony alone in the lab.

“I really do like her, Tony,” Bruce said.

“Me too.”

“Sucks that she keeps turning you down.”

“I know,” Tony groaned. “I don’t know what to do anymore.”

“Well, I might have an idea.”

“I’m all ears.”

“I heard a few of the students talking about prom coming up next week. And if I heard right, Y/N is going to be one of the chaperones.”

“Are you suggesting that I ask her to prom? Are you serious?”

“Hey,” Bruce held his hands up, “it’s just an idea. You could even offer to host it here, at the Tower, if that makes you more comfortable.”

“I think you’re onto something, Big Guy.”

My lunch time, the next school day, the whole school had heard that the venue for prom had been changed to the Tower. You were surprised that you had yet to see Tony. It’s not like you two and planned for him to come today. But, honestly, you missed him the days he wasn’t in class with you. After your last class of the day, you pulled Peter aside.

“Hey, Pete. Have you heard from Tony?”

“Uh… n-no. Why?”

You furrowed your brows. “Are you sure?”

“I-I really have to go, Ms. Y/L/N. I wouldn’t want to be late!” He rushed out.

“Late for what? Peter!”

Letting out a frustrated groan, you packed up for the day. On your way home, you couldn’t help but have the feeling like you were being followed. You rushed to your apartment, quickly locking it behind you. Setting your things down, you hurried around the apartment, locking all the windows and closing all the curtains. But the feeling still didn’t go away. 

As you started putting your things away and getting dinner situated, there came a knock at your front door. You froze, scared to get it, for a second before finally forcing yourself to move. Taking a deep breath, you opened the door enough for you to peek through the crack and see who had knocked.

“Tony?” You opened the door fully. “What are you doing here?”

“I, uh…” He rubbed the back of his neck. “I came to ask you a question.”

“How did you figure out where I lived?”

“I’m Tony Stark. I have my ways.”

“Mhmm,” you nodded, realizing that he was probably the reason you felt like you were being followed. “And what did you want to ask?”

“Can I come in? Thanks.” He was already inside your small apartment before you could even respond. “It’s… cozy.”

You shut your apartment door. “Well not all of us our billionaires, Tony. What did you come to ask me again?”

“Oh, yeah. That.” His hands were stuffed in his pockets as he still studied the space. “I was wondering if you would like to chaperone the prom? W—“

“I already am chaperoning. I don’t—“

“With me. If you would chaperone the prom, with me?”

“Like a… a date?”

“You could call it that yes.”

“Tony, I-I don’t think it’s very appropriate.”

“For our first date to be a high school prom? Yeah, I don’t know about it either. But I promise to be on my best behavior.”

“No, Tony. That’s— well, I guess that’s part of it. But you’re also one of my student’s guardians. I-I-I don’t believe that would be very professional of me to go out with you.”

“Is that all?” Tony stepped closer. “Just that it wouldn’t be professional?”

You met his clearly concerned gaze, studying it. “Tony, I don’t know what you’ve been told but, Peter should really learn to mind his own business.”

“Please don’t get mad at the kid.” Tony rushed up, gently grabbing your wrist when you tried to turn around. “He was just trying to help.”

“What exactly did he tell you?”

“That you had been dating a guy for two years, and he… he left you at the alter.”

You took a shaky breath, looking away. “Yeah… basically what happened… it was a year ago, but I… I—“

“You can’t get over it. I understand. It hurt you. But Y/N, look at me.” You hesitantly looked over at him. “I’m not trying to hurt you. I’m not going to hurt you. Nothing but honest intentions here…. Can you give me a chance?”

You stared at him, studying his eyes for the truth. Your heart was fighting against itself. It wanted to give Tony a chance, so desperately, but it also couldn’t stand anymore heartbreak then it already had.

“I’m sorry, Tony. I just can’t take that chance again.”

“You’re stupid. You know that?” Your best friend was currently ripping you open from over the phone. Thankfully, they were on a business trip away from the city for the month. “I can’t believe he opened up like that and you just shut him down.”

“I know…” You had one of your hands holding your head and the other keeping the phone to your ear. “I am so stupid…”

“Have you heard from him since last night?”

“No. He didn’t show up at the school today… I really screwed up…”

“I don’t think you’ve completely lost your chance, here. You’re still chaperoning the prom, right?”

“Yes.”

“And it’s still at Avengers Tower?”

“Yes.”

“Then, girl, we’re going to fix this.”

The night of the prom came quickly. Tony hadn’t contacted you or stepped foot in the high school since before the night he showed up at your apartment. It made you sad, the loss of someone that had so quickly made themselves a part of your life. The students were even starting to see the effect his absence had on you. But you tried to push it, aside for the kids, and hold on to hope that Tony would still show up at the prom.

You dressed up, head to toe, in your best, school appropriate, dress attire. You were sure to turn many heads, even just as a teacher. The nerves were high, but you really had nothing more to lose. 

The Tower’s ballroom was decked out, every inch. It had clearly not been done by high schoolers, but professionals. There were tables for people to sit at and tables of food set up as a border around the large dance floor. Many of the students had already arrived. You searched the ballroom for the familiar face you had longed to see since the night he sulked out of your apartment.

“Hey, Ms. Y/L/N,” Peter greeted, coming from the side with MJ. “You look beautiful.”

“Thank you, Peter,” you smiled. “You and MJ look wonderful as well.” You started searching the crowds again.

“Um… are you looking for Mr. Stark?”

“Oh, uh… yes. I wanted to thank him for all of this. It’s truly magnificent.”

“Well, he’s not here. He decided it would be best to stay in for the night.”

“Oh.” You hoped the disappointment wasn’t too obvious. “Is he in the Tower though?”

“He’s probably in the labs. Would you like me to take you there?”

“Could you? I really need to talk to him.”

“Of course.” He turned to MJ. “Wait for me?”

“Sure,” MJ responded. “Just don’t make me wait too long.”

Peter nodding, quickly leading you to the elevator. He pressed his hand into a scanner and told the building’s AI where he wanted to go. The elevator began moving and suddenly your nerves were making you want to throw up.

“You know, Ms. Y/L/N,” Peter nervously started, “I’ve known Mr. Stark for a little while now, and I’ve never seen him like this. He really does care for you and want you to trust him.”

“Thank you, Peter.” 

The elevator doors opened and Peter led you to the labs door.

“He should be in there,” Peter told her. “Good luck.”

You exhaled shakily, as you put your hand on the door. Slowly, you opened it and stepped into the room. Your eyes immediately fell on Tony, who was standing in a suit apparently waiting for you.

“How—how did you know?”

“I guessed. I hoped. And my AI notified me the moment you showed up.”

“Tony, I have to apologize for my continual turning you down.” You stepped closer. “I’ve just been extremely hurt before and I don’t want to feel that pain again.”

“I understand.” He moved in front of you, grasping onto both your hands. “And we can take this as slow as you want. Just give me a chance, let me take you out.”

“Okay. You can take me out.”

“Yay!” He quickly pulled you out of the lab and towards the elevator.

“We can’t go right now, Tony! I’m suppose to be watching the students.”

“Oh, I know. That’s why I’m taking you down to the dance floor. I’m going to show you a good time and we’re going to embarrass the hell out of the kid.”

You couldn’t help but giggle. “Nothing too bad I hope. We’re going to be in front of my students and coworkers.”

“Oh, don’t you worry.” He turned around with a wink and a smirk. “I’m saving the rest for at least after I take you out properly.”
