Thinking about restless spirit Tony Stark who just can't move on to the after life.
The first thing he does once he realizes he's an apparition is check on Pepper and Morgan. True to their word, they're okay. He watches them for a bit but feels this deep unrest pulling him away from the quaint home he yearns for.
There's a deep wrongness within him, some unfinished business that draws him back to New York.
He fears for a moment that it's Peter- but no, it can't be him. He'll be in Massachusetts right now, attending MIT as a freshman. There isn't a doubt in Tony's mind that his little genius is already making his mark.
Still, he follows the pull of his spirit to some dingy Queens' apartment he's never been to before.
It's deep in the night yet the apartment is empty. He looks around a bit, his body phasing through anything he attempts to touch.
It's small and dirty. There's old coffee cups on the desk, alongside a couple GED manuals. Great, the universe thinks he has unfinished business with some broke high school dropout.
He's pondering how he must have screwed up this kid's life; was it the Avengers, Stark Industries? Maybe his old playboy lifestyle is finally coming to bite him in the ass.
His contemplation is cut short by the sound of the window cracking open.
It strikes Tony for a moment that maybe he's stuck on Earth to be a guardian angel, Iron Man living on as some invisible protector against whatever creep is sneaking into people's windows. It doesn't make much sense considering the whole non-corporeal thing, but he still stiffens like he's ready for a fight.
He sees a man- no, a thing? A creature maybe, or an alien. Even in death Tony can't escape being one of Earth's mightiest heroes.
The creature is shrouded in darkness, something slick and bald crawling inside the room with terrifying grace and silence. It shuts the window with a soft kssssh as the seal is formed.
And then it pulls off its mask.
There, with the click of a table lamp, glows the face of Peter Parker.
He's definitely older now; sturdier shoulders, a rugged set of his jaw, hair tamed to something semi-professional. Still present, though, are those gentle brown eyes.
Nothing makes sense right now. Why is his kid here, in this apartment? Surely May wouldn't allow this. How many tenant laws does this place break? Where are his little sidekick friends? And on what planet would Peter Parker ever need a GED?
Tony's getting angry now, watching Peter move around the tiny space. He changes out of his costume and into pajamas. That spider suit isn't Tony's suit, it looks like cheap craft store fabric.
The kid opens a small freezer and pulls out the singular bag of peas that reside in there, pressing it against his ribs while he goes to pop some bread into a toaster.
Tony takes note of every glimpse he gains into Peter's life. Empty cabinets when he reaches for a jar of peanut butter. A fridge housing nothing but condiments and energy drinks when he goes to grab jam. A drawer with two spoons, no forks, and a paring knife which he pulls out and sticks into the strawberry jam jar just as the toast pops.
This is all so wrong.
Tony's outrage is coming to a rolling boil. Peter deserves the world- he was gonna give him the world. He couldn't wait to send Peter to MIT and show him off as his protégé. Tony was gonna fund his projects, tease him about pretty girls, maybe even see him step back from Spider-Man and act like a normal college kid. He wanted to see him flourish and grow up. It was all he could think about when Peter turned to dust between his fingers; he should be goofing off with his friends at a mathletes meeting, or building Legos, not fighting an intergalactic war.
Tony couldn't even conceive how much went wrong to end up here.
Alone. Broke. No school. He didn't even have his Stark suit to protect him. Everything that made him him has been stripped, leaving him in this shallow box with scuffed paint and hollow cabinets.
Tony can feel the violent rage burn deep in his spirit as he thinks about it.
This is why he's here. He can't let his boy live like this, wasting his potential to be some villain's punching bag. Where is everyone? Does no one care enough to stop this? The fury that builds in Tony is dangerous, wondering why a dead man is the only one who cares about the teen's life right now.
Without thinking Tony's hand reaches for the GED textbook, a mocking piece of work that laughs in his face, and throws it at the stupid little kitchenette that's mere feet from the bed.
It sails across the room with surprising speed before it's met with a thunk against Peter's palm, hand reaching out to catch it from the air before it collided with the toaster.
Oh.
Peter sets the book down and immediately picks up his web shooters, eyes darting furiously to every corner of the tiny apartment.
"Who's there?"
Tony steps a little closer but Peter's eyes just look right past him.
"C'mon Pete, c'mon. I'm here, I'm right here."
Tony looks for something else to grab. He swats at a hopefully empty coffee cup on the wooden desk, but his hand just passes right through it.
"Shit," the hope Tony felt waivers slightly and he tries again.
Nothing.
Peter is searching his apartment now, making sure the window is secure and feeling around every crevice, bookshelves, under the bed, in the top corners of the room. Searching for something nefarious, tech maybe.
Tony hits the cup, again and again, frustration building up and up and up till-
The cup flies across the room, Tony and Peter's eyes track its movements as it bounces against the ground and rolls to a stop.
"Shit," Peter breathes out.
Tony walks up to Peter now, standing before him.
"Figure it out. Think kid, you've met aliens, gods, magicians, surely ghosts aren't too far fetched."
Peter closes his eyes. His posture straightens, Tony watches him take a deep breath in as the hairs on his bare arms stand on end.
Peter's eyes blink open, and they're looking directly at Tony.
Tony smirks, "that's it."
Peter turns around and picks the cup off the ground, running to his desk with it and ripping a piece of lined paper out of a notebook and scribbling furiously on it.
Tony walks over as Peter places the cup in the center of the paper.
On the left is the word YES in bold print, NO on the right.
"Okay, okay okay. So, move the cup if, if you wanna talk. Um, is there someone in the room right now?"
Tony reaches for the cup, an intense glare as his fingertips graze it gently. It shifts minutely towards the YES.
"Shit! Shit. Sorry, whew. Okay. Are you friendly?"
Tony moves it to YES again.
"Are you a, um. Person? Like not an alien?"
YES.
"Are you wearing tech, invisibility suit or your molecules are uncalibrated or maybe it's a portal thing like, multiverse shit is happening again, a mirror universe! Oh, maybe a..."
Tony let's a frustrated sign. The kid is too practical, logical. He needs to think like a non-genius.
"... could be. Or, or maybe you're just a ghost-"
Tony perks up and immediately swats the cup, causing it to fly off the desk towards the YES.
"Oh. Oh that's... kinda normal. Or maybe really weird? I mean... I certainly have some ghosts in my past."
Peter picks the cup up and puts it back on the desk.
"Do I know you?"
YES.
"You said you were friendly, and I'm not getting any danger tingles from you. I'm gonna start with people I know are dead, cuz I just really hope you're not a... new ghost. Um. M-May?"
The boy's voice cracks on the word and Tony freezes. May is dead? Tony starts to fear that things are a lot more wrong than he previously thought.
Peter's breath catches and Tony realizes he's waiting, dying for an answer, and quickly pokes the cup towards NO.
Peter's shoulders sag.
"Uncle Ben?"
NO.
"T- Mr. Stark?"
Tony grins, "now we're getting somewhere!"
YES.
Tony is going to have his work cut out for him, but being here with Peter just feels right.
Peter breaks out into a matching smile.
"Wow, okay. I think I'm gonna need more paper," he says as the boy gets to work making a more complex system than YES and NO.
Tony watches on proudly, reminiscing about all the great Peter was and all the great he still is, despite his situation. Whatever this is, they'll figure it out.
Together.

tw: ending pregnancy with pills
———
Peter and Tony share a curious look. Who could be at the door? Did Pepper come back with Morgan? That is Peter’s first thought, but it turns out he was wrong.
Harley is in the entrance hall, taking his coat off.
“Hi. I- heh… I thought about ringing the doorbell, but then that felt weird. So, I just used the key.”
Peter waves his hand to show it was no big deal, then pulls his middle child into a hug.
“You’re welcome whenever, Harley.”
Harley hums affectionately. He kisses his Dad on the cheek as they pull away.
“Is Papa home?”
Just then, Tony appears from around the corner. He has a dirty towel in his hands, trying to rub off the oil and dirt from his hands. It is a nostalgic sight for Harley. But, the past memories are at risk of being tainted in this current future.
“Hi, Papa.”
“You staying for dinner?” Tony asks, sounding a bit too rough for Peter’s liking. The omega shoots his Alpha a look.
“If- if that’s okay.” Harley replies.
“Of course it is. Come on.” Peter says, inviting Harley inside.
The trio go their separate ways, for now. Tony promised to wrap up what he was currently doing in the garage, and then he’d start on dinner later. Harley goes to his old room, checking if he needs some books he has stored there. His uni dorm room isn’t the biggest, so he also stores some clothes at home.
Peter, well, he paces. He can tell Tony and Harley are tense. He knows why Harley is, at least. The beta is disappointed in his Papa for pulling back from the family lately. Peter only told him of one instance where Tony snapped at him, but now it seems that Harley has a grudge against his Alpha father.
The atmosphere is enough to occupy Peter’s mind completely, so much so that he doesn’t even notice the first cramps hitting him. The abortion pill is working.
An hour or so later, the three of them are sat around the dinner table, just like old times. It’s been a year since Harley moved out and went to uni, and 3 more since Ben did the same. Ever since the older brothers moved out, the dinner conversations when the family is reunited again usually revolves around Morgan.
“I remember when Ben and I stayed with Auntie Pep. She let us work on her laptop. It was all just keyboard smashes, but she let us print it out and pretend to go to meetings. But, I don’t think Morgan would enjoy the same.”
“No.” Peter laughs lightly. “When we pick her up again from Pep’s, she always has a new nail polish colour on her nails. So, I think beauty salon is the most popular thing there.”
Peter and Harley laugh together, but Tony hasn’t said much. Peter can tell Harley is looking for an opportunity to address what is going on. The omega puts down his fork, and sips on some water. The cramps are getting worse, and food is no longer appetising.
“Papa…?”
“Hm?”
“How… how’s the car?”
“It’s fine. But, that’s not what you really wanna ask, so I suggest you spit it out, son, whatever it is you wanna say.”
“Anthony.” Peter’s tone is sharp.
“Fine! I wanna know how you are! Is that such a bad thing!” Harley snaps back.
“I’m fine!”
“No, you’re not! Dad’s… dad’s been telling things. And- and you’re not yourself. I can tell. You’re my Alpha father, for god’s sake. I know I’m a Beta, so I don’t understand everything, but I want to.”
Tony has put down his fork too and is holding his head in his hands. The Alpha is breathing heavily, his veins pulsing and muscles tense. Peter can feel his violent energy, like a heat wave, next to him. It adds to his growing discomfort, so he rises calmly from the table.
“Papa… you okay?”
Tony snaps his head up. He briefly looks at his Beta son, but then his gaze flickers to Peter. He looks startled, worried, anxious. Afraid? His voice wavers when he speaks.
“Omega…?”
Peter hums in question. He follows Tony’s intense gaze, and only then does he notice all the blood between his legs.

Hey how u doing? I’m in love with your fics btw they’re like my bedtime stories🥰
I saw that you haven’t written morgan much in ur fics so i have some ideas of a fic (or fics) you might like where y/n & morgan bonding with tony through the years. They’re a lot you can do them as parts or oneshots or one big oneshot it’s up to u really. y/n can be she/her or gn.
-12yo y/n asking tony to hold newborn morgan and he obliged, tears in his eyes watching his firstborn holding his newborn🥹
-4yo morgan & 16yo y/n in morgan’s room having tea party or dressing-up party (or whatever kid-friendly games lol) tony then join them and play along. pepper coming to get them for dinner and see her little family having fun (or one to put makeup on tony and the other style his hair and it’s getting messy haha)
-since pepper out of country for business, tony remains to watch his little troublemakers. But he had a bad day that the house label it ‘daddy’s bad day’. y/n noticed this and telling morgan to draw something to him and give him her best morgan cure ever (hugs). y/n did last remaining assignment as morgan finishes her masterpiece then goes to make hot chocolate for them 3. tony gets emotional about morgan’s drawing and more sappy when she hugs him tight telling him “it’s okay daddy. I love you” *sobs in 3000😭*, y/n sit beside him and hug them both (i mean them on the couch being cuddly comforting their dad🥹) then ends the day with a movie night.
-tony teaching dance to y/n for prom in their living room, morgan busting into them and the 3 dance together with an upbeat music, then morgan asks y/n to dance with her, and tony getting emotional again he’s so proud dad (FRIDAY caught him on 4k crying and sent the footage to pepper and rhodey lol)
-the stark family having an outing after y/n’s graduation, tony reminiscing the old times when y/n was just a baby and being taken care of (tony telling embarrassing toddler y/n moments to morgan. pepper in her Protective Mum Mode telling her kids embarrassing stories about their dad as kind of revenge for her embarrassed eldest *go pep!*)
-y/n being there for morgan’s first school day. morgan being there in y/n’s dorm room putting down boxes. this concept might work as a parallel yk.
one day at night morgan called y/n crying ‘cause she missed her sibling and y/n trying to comfort her😭
-years after all these scenes, the stark family expands with y/n’s little newborn. 12yo morgan asks y/n to hold the baby and tony (the sappy daddy he is) having flashbacks to when y/n holding morgan🥹😭
Yeah, that was a lot lol! idk if you’re busy or smth but if you do pls take your time. and pls tag me on your fics if u don’t mind ofc.
Good times Stark family x stark!reader

Summary: all the fun times you had with your little sunshine...morgan
Warnings:
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
You woke up at around 10:17 a.m. you went downstairs and no one was there, you expected your parents to still be sleeping given that pepper was pregnant and tony well...he's tony.
You gobbled down a bowl of cereal and went upstairs to check on your parents, passing by the nursery, you saw all of the pink and white, and the smidgen of grey in there too.
You smiled, picturing your baby sister laying in her crib, or on the changing table, or even just playing with her toys. You were so excited to meet morgan. The baby sister you'd always wanted.
You peeked around the corner into your parents bedroom. But no one was there, you checked the bathrooms, the dining room, the kitchen, the living room, heck you'd even checked the garage. But no one was there.
"Friday? Where is everyone?" You asked the AI, starting to panic. "Pepper has gone into labor and is at the hospital with tony." She stated calmly. "What!? Why didn't they get me up!?" You asked her. And she said....
"Actually, tony has left a message for you explaining this" she said as she played it. "Hey kid, i hope your doing alright. It is your first time home alone, but peps in labor and i didn't want to wake you so happy will pick you up when the time comes. And dont worry, youll be here for the birth. Love you baby" you heard your father tell you from on the voice message, he sounded like he was driving and pepper was maybe holding the phone up so it could hear him properly.
"Well tell happy to come get me! I dont wanna miss my sisters birth!" You said running out as Friday contacted happy, you were putting together a comfy outfit. Making sure your sweatshirt was fluffy so that when you held her, she would feel it. You threw on your sneakers and was out the door.
Happy picked you up, and stepped on it. Which made you think you were in a hurry and might miss it, but luckily, you didn't.
You ran into the hospital room, immediately being greeted with tony and peppers soft eyes. You ran over to pepper, taking her hand in yours. "Hey mamuh, you doing alright?" You asked her, gently caressing her arm.
"Yes, thank you munchkin" that was peppers nickname for you, she loved saying it, and you were determined to pass it down to morgan and possibly your children some day.
"How dilated is she?" You asked looking up at tony. "Shes currently 8 centimeters dilated"
"What?? Oh thank god i didn't hit the snooze button." Everybody chuckled at your joke.
After a while, she was fully dilated and ready to push. The nurses and doctors instructed her on what to do, while you and tony were at her sides cheering her on and comforting her.
"You got this mamuh, there you go! Come on." You and tony kept repeating these words until morgan was officially born <33333333
It took another few minutes for you and tony to be able to hold her though. But when tony held his second daughter on his chest, the man was crying with joy.
Though he was iron man, and acted like he was the Is toughest guy on the planet, he was actually a very delicate flower.
You tapped his shoulder, getting his attention. "Daddy, can i hold her now?" He immediately gave little Mo to pep and folded your arms in the correct way. After he finished this task, he took his baby and placed her gently in her big sisters arms.
You looked down at her and she looked up at you. You both stared into each others eyes for a while. Tonys eyebrows fell back, he felt a tear run down his cheek. He quickly whipped out his phone, holding it sideways he recorded you both for at least 5 minutes straight.
You smiled at her, letting out a small giggle in awe, and she cooed at you. Making you smile bigger, which made her smile, and all of this reminded tony of his first moments with you, as if you were him and she was you, it flashed before his eyes on how fast his little girl was growing up.
He didn't want the same for morgan, he wanted for both of you to stay like this forever. He wasn't going to let the first few months of little Mo's life off of his mind for a long time. He made the mistake with you, and when time went by so fast, he wanted to go back and not mess it up this time. He took an oath to remember these moments with morgan, it didn't matter if he was soothing her cries, or feeding her, or even bathing her. He wasn't going to let any of it go. Ever.
You looked up at tony, who was balling his eyes out. You giggled and leaned to the side to hug him. He began sobbing into you, holding you tight, pep definitely snapped a photo of this >:) she's gonna show it to everyone ehehhehehehehe
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
You came into Morgans room, the baby pink walls were covered in her drawings and photos. You sat down at the table that was seven times too small for you.
She was having a tea party with her stuffed animals, her ginormous panda bear plush sat in a chair, along with a elephant pep had gotten her, and a lion you had got for her.
"May i join the tea party m'lady?" You asked her in a strong British accent, "of course madam" she responded, trying her best to recreate the accent. Pretending to pour some tea in a cup in front of you.
you took a plastic cup she just "filled". Making a loud slurping sound. She giggled at this. (I wanna hear it so bad)
She eventually talked you into wearing a giant pink hoop skirt. (Even though she simply asked and you did it because you cant resist those big beautiful little eyes of hers) Which she had a smaller version for her.
after a while, tony walked in and paused seeing his both his daughters on the floor, in giant hoop skirts, having a tea party. A smile danced on his lips.
Morgan ran behind him and shut the door, locking it in the process 😈😈😈
"Wacha doing, and why did morgan just lock the door....wait who taught you to do that?" He said turning to morgan, who had her arms behind her back innocently "i did." You said raising your hand.
Tony eventually joined in on this tea party. And after begging for like 10 minutes, he put on a hoop skirt as well, and you ran out of the bedroom, getting caught on the locked door. And returned with makeup. "Uh-no." He said pointing a finger at you. You gave him puppy dog eyes, and so did morgan "....fine." you and her cheered before high-fiving.
While morgan did his hair in very odd shapes and styles, you did his makeup, badly....like, INTENSE blush. And bright blue eyeshadow. And red lipstick, you know.
Then pepper walked in to inform her family that it was dinner time. But saw all of you in giant skirts, and tony in a the best ponytail you can do with three inches of hair, and a tiara of course 😄 and you doing his makeup.
She chuckled at this, and especially tonys vulnerability to his girls. "Dinners ready, come on" she said before leaving the room. "Dont worry dad you look amazing"
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
You had noticed that your father had a pretty bad day at work, and decided to help him out a bit with the help from Morgan.
"Hey mo. Daddy had a rough day at work, and he misses mommy, lets call it 'daddys bad day' and i want you to draw him something with all of your skill, and then give him the best bad day cure ever! hugs" you whispered that last bit to make it more dramatic for her.
She ran across her bedroom to grab her crayons and a few papers, and immediately got to work, creating her best piece yet!
You looked at it, then back at her and high-fived her for her amazing drawing skills. You had the milk on the stove and the chocolate in the microwave being melted. (You really think that you would make him instant hot cocoa on daddys bad day? Didn't think so)
You watched as tony came downstairs from his hot shower, that was long as well. And watched him immediately plop down on the couch, putting his hands over his face.
Morgan climbed onto the couch and tapped his shoulder getting him to look over at her, his hands floating midair.
"I made you something daddy" she said handing him the paper. He took one look at it and immediately smiled, looking back at morgan he saw she was handing him another paper. "And this ones you and mommy" she said pointing at the two people hugging underneath a rainbow in a meadow of flowers.
He was already quite emotional from his hard day, he felt his eyes water. Little Mo noticed this and wrapped her small arms around his neck, squeezing him as hard as she could,
"Its okay daddy...i love you" he let out a small sob and threw his arms around her waist. "I love you too, my sweet girl".
You walked over and sat down on the couch on his opposite side. Setting all three drinks down on the coffee table in front of you. You leaned into him, you and morgan both squeezed the life out of him.
You turned on a movie, and after you finished your drinks, you and morgan passed out in your fathers caring arms.
+•°+*°•++•°+*°•+
A/N: AAAAAAAAAAA! I love writing for morgan so fricking muchhhhh 💕🥰😘🩷 and I'm trying to tag you I swear, it's not workingggg 😭😭😭 this has happened before just give it a few days maybe 🙃

x
Before you were taken, before you got your world turned upside down, you had a dream. You had a dream that one day you’d be wearing a beautiful white gown that closely resembles the one your mother wore (hers got destroyed in a house fire when you were young), standing in a room with all of your best friends who couldn't be happier for you, marrying the love of your life. You had that dream many times even after you got taken by Hydra. It’s what kept you from going insane in the beginning. When things got tough, you’d close your eyes and imagine your wedding day.
Never did you think it would finally come, and it finally did.
Instead of a room filled with a ton of your friends, it’s Natasha. She died giving herself up for the Soul Stone, but when you and Steve returned the stones, they gave her back in exchange for the stone. You didn’t think that was possible but it was, and you brought her home to everyone.
It’s sad that Tony never knew she made it.
You stand in front of the floor-length mirror and admire the dress you made yourself. You drew inspiration from your mother’s wedding dress. It’s been so long since you’ve seen it but you can recall every detail by memory. It’s not an exact replica but is very similar. Natasha walks up behind you and fixes the dress from the back. It has an open back that clips right behind your neck, and the entire bodice is a flowery lace material. The dress goes all the way down to your feet and is loose and airy, nothing like those puffy dresses people where nowadays.
“You look beautiful,” Natasha smiles.
“Thanks, Nat,” you whisper.
She is your Maid of Honor while Bucky is Steve’s best man. You only have one person because the wedding is so small. Clint offered his farm for you to use which is why it’s so small. The only people in attendance are your closest friends and family--mostly Avengers and their family. There are minimal decorations but it’s very elegant and intimate.
Someone knocks on the door and you two turn to see Sam walk in.
“It’s time.”
“I’ll see you out there.”
Natasha kisses your cheek and leaves the room. When you asked Sam to walk you down the aisle, you could have sworn you saw tears roll down. Your parents are long gone and you wanted the person giving you away to mean something to you. Sam is that person. You and Bcuky are close but by trauma, and Sam was the next best thing.
“Wow, you look beautiful.”
“Thank you, Sam.”
“Are you ready for the rest of your life?”
“Is Steve?” you joke. You put your veil on and smile. “I’m ready.”
Bucky and Natasha go out first followed by Morgan who is your flower girl. Pepper had no problem with letting her little girl be part of your wedding. Toy has been a big part of your life, so having her be the flower girl is like having a part of the wedding. There is a picture of him sitting next to Pepper to symbolize his presence along with everyone else who has died.
Then, you and Sam enter the main ceremony room, and everyone rises. Steve stands at the altar wearing his 40s military uniform that Bucky and Sam stole from one of the museums. It still fits him like a glove. The second he sees you, he immediately gets tears. He never thought he’d get to his day with you. He was positive that a mission would take him out.
Sam reaches the altar and kisses your cheek over the veil before taking a seat in the front. The ceremony doesn’t last very long and you get to your vows quicker than you thought. Both you and Steve have written your own vows, and he lets you go first.
“I don’t know where to start, honestly. Growing up, I had this idea of what I wanted my wedding day to look like. I had the dress picked out, who I wanted my bridesmaids to be, where I wanted the wedding, and what my first song was going to be. Then, I was taken and forced into something I didn’t want to do. I was broken down, beaten, and shaped into what Hydra wanted me to be. I didn’t know I could have the things I wanted. Soon, my mind wasn’t even my own.
“Then, I met you and it was like I could finally see. It’s like I’ve been in this tunnel all my life and seeing you brought me out of it and into the light. I got Hydra out of my head. I gained control of my life. I took back what they stole from me thanks to you. You saved me in more ways than one, and I can’t believe I get to stand up here and marry you.”
“I had a dream of my own. This was before the military where I wanted to marry a nice girl and make a family of my own. Like you, I was unable to. I had a duty to my country and gave it my all. The guy who went into the ice nearly a century ago had goals, and when I came out of it, those goals changed. I just needed to get through the day and face the next. I didn’t know I could have all this until I met you. You say I saved you when it’s you who saved me. I found myself wishing for the things I did in the 40s. Now I get to have them with you by my side. You’re a dream come true, Y/N.”
The rings you two have are simple ones but hold so much meaning. When you two kiss, everyone stands and cheers. The reception is in the same area as the ceremony but everyone makes room for your and Steve’s first dance as a married couple. It’s sensual. It’s intimate. It’s romantic. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted. Everyone else disappears since the only person who matters to you at that moment is Steve.
Afterwards, you go off to be with the girls and Steve goes off to be with his boys. Sam, Thor, and Clint toss back shots just as Bucky clasps a hand on his shoulder.
“Congratulations, man.”
“Thanks.”
“Do I have to have the hurt-her-and-I’ll-hurt-you talk?”
“No,” Steve chuckles.
“You know I’ll do it. I’ll kick your ass if you hurt her.”
“I know, and I’d let you.”
“She’d probably do the ass-kicking if we’re being honest,” Sam interjects with a smile.
“Yeah, she would,” Steve laughs.
One of the wedding games you planned is a game where you and Steve are sitting back-to-back with both shoes in hand. You have one of yours and one of his, and he has the other pair. Bucky has cards that he will read and you have to raise a shoe for the person you think is the most like the card.
“This is a great one to start with. Who wears the pants in the relationship?”
You immediately hold up your shoe while Steve holds up his own. Everyone laughs at the dynamic of your relationship, and Bucky moves on.
“Who is the best chef?” Both you and Steve hold up his shoes. “Who is needier when they’re sick?” Again, both of you hold up Steve’s shoes. “Who is the better driver?” This time, you two put up your shoes. You’ve had more practice. “I don’t know, Y/N, I’ve been in a car with you before.”
“You lived, didn’t you?” you grin at Bucky.
Nothing can ruin this moment. Hydra is gone from your head, Thanos is gone, and you can only go up from here.

To be yourself is all that you can do
Also posted on AO3!
TRIGGER WARNINGS - self-harm (not explicit), past temporary character death, anxiety attacks, and grief/mourning.
DO NOT SHIP PETER AND TONY. P/ROSHIP DNI.
--
Someone falls to pieces, sleeping all alone Someone kills the pain, spinning in the silence She finally drifts away Someone gets excited in a chapel yard, catches a bouquet Another lays a dozen white roses on a grave Yeah, and to be yourself is all that you can do Hey, to be yourself is all that you can do - Be Yourself, Audioslave
Peter forgets where he is, until he hears a little girl’s concerned voice.
“Petey, did you get hurt?”
That’s when he realizes he hasn’t covered his arms under his sleeves, and Morgan is seeing all the ugly cuts filling his skin. Peter also goes cold when he remembers that Tony and Pepper are home, though they don’t seem to pay attention. They’re bantering in the kitchen. In fact, they were all cooking together when Peter lied that he was tired so he would go to the couch. Tony could always read him like an open book, but he was having a good time with his family, and Peter at least didn’t ruin it.
So, Peter went to the bathroom. And then he went to the couch, silent as a rock.
But now the worst outcome has come true. Peter has tainted Morgan’s innocence. How is he going to explain it to her? She’s so young to know about self-harm and how little sense it makes.
“I’ll get Daddy-!” Morgan is about to jump out of the couch to run to the kitchen and he’s going to ruin Tony’s happiness–
“No! I-I mean-!” Peter lets out, thankfully not too loudly. “It’s fine, I swear.” The cuts still burn a little, wearing the knit sweater Tony got him is quite itchy. “I have super healing, remember? They’ll be gone soon.”
If anything, they’re not healing properly.
Morgan can probably tell.
“Do you need ice? Band-aids?” She suggests. “You’ll need a lot of them though…”
“I-It’s okay, Mo. I can handle it.”
Peter gulps, glancing at the kitchen. He can hear Neil Young playing. It’s not like the AC/DC Tony would blast in the workshop… Peter might miss it, but this little life he built here with Pepper and their daughter is nice.
“Just promise me you won’t tell your parents, okay?” Peter asks (begs). He knows it’s unfair to do this to Morgan after what she has just seen. “I don’t want them to freak out or anything.”
She doesn’t look as shocked anymore but she looks very sad for him.
“Okay,” Morgan replies simply. Meaning it.
Peter doesn’t know why Morgan isn’t asking anything. She doesn’t question where the cuts come from. She doesn’t ask why Peter did this to himself. She doesn’t get mad. She doesn’t cry.
Instead…
Morgan wraps her small arms around Peter’s neck. That makes the boy’s eyes tear up, but he has to swallow them for now.
“There, there,” Morgan pats his back. That action makes him snort. She’s imitating Baymax, since they watched Big Hero 6 the other day.
“T-Thanks.”
Morgan really does love him. He’s her “super big brother”.
Then she lets go and smiles at him. Morgan is so cute. Peter would’ve squeezed her but his arms hurt and he doesn’t want to hurt her, too.
Suddenly, her eyes sparkle.
“You wait here!” Morgan says, suddenly sprinting away.
It seems like she’s running upstairs.
Peter frowns, trying to figure out what she’s up to. At the same time, he sees his cuts again, glaring at them. He feels so stupid for relapsing, but he had such an awful night of sleep and he needed to distract himself, he couldn’t have an anxiety attack when everyone else wants to have fun–
Morgan has returned with a fuzzy blanket that she probably got from Peter’s room, as well as a little stuffed bunny that she gave him.
“Here! Now you’re warm and you’re not alone!” Morgan says proudly.
Peter laughs, rather broken. He hugs his bunny. “Aww, thank you.”
“Now one last thing!” The girl runs again, but she goes to the kitchen instead.
Morgan is likely looking for something as she runs all over the kitchen to get specific things. She’s even panting at this point.
“Whoa there, speedy, what’s all the rush for?” Tony questions, teasingly.
“I need choco milk!”
“Nice try, young lady, dinner will be ready in less than five minutes,” Pepper points out. She must be crossing her arms, even if she’s not too serious, either.
“No, it’s an emergency! Petey is sad, so he needs choco milk so he doesn’t feel so sad anymore!”
Oh f…
Okay. Okay, at the very least Morgan didn’t tell them Peter is hurt.
And is it really her fault? Morgan just wants to help. And she’s doing the right thing getting the adults, too. No child should be forced to take care of a teenager who can’t handle his own brain.
Anyway, the happy environment is definitely over. Peter can sense the tension coming from Pepper and Tony. They might even be looking at each other to figure out what to do next.
Peter stays quiet.
“Hey, Morguna,” Tony resumes his sweet dad tone, “how about you and Mom get Peter a really nice book while I make the choco milk?”
“Yeah! Story for Petey!” Morgan loves the idea.
Two people leave the kitchen. “I’ll be back, Petey!” Morgan reassures from afar.
With the mother and daughter upstairs, the floor seems awfully silent. Save for the music.
Peter can also hear Tony sighing to himself.
He hates that.
The man seems to handle both the chocolate milk and dinner. Peter knows his mentor is going to confront him soon, and his heart is beating faster. And the teen knows he can’t run to the restroom again.
Peter spends so long overthinking that when the steps are coming towards him, he hides in the blanket to pretend he’s not there. Wow, he used to do this so much as a kid. Especially when he was sad and Uncle Ben would come and find him…
“... Hello, strange lump. I’m looking for my teenager who could use some chocolate milk right now,” Tony jokes. “Can you get him for me?”
Peter pretends he didn’t feel warm when Tony called him his teenager.
Gulping again, the boy comes out.
“Um, hi.”
“Hey, kid. Brought you milk.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
As Tony hands him the cup, he’s actually cupping both of Peter’s hands, too. Tony is kneeling down in front of him. Peter doesn’t dare look up.
“What happened?” Tony whispers.
“I dunno. I had a bad night.” Peter is not completely lying.
“Nightmare?”
The teen shakes his head. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“Oh, Pete, you can let me know when you can’t sleep.”
The gentle reminder, without a hint of annoyance, certainly won’t help Peter hide his tears. He looks down, staring at his hidden lower arms.
“It was stupid and… I didn’t want you to know.”
Peter doesn’t want to see Tony’s sad face. He doesn’t want to be reminded of someone who looked out for him that bore the same expression. The sadness of unconditional love, despite all of Peter’s mistakes.
“Hey,” Tony calls, “look at me.”
The teenager almost shakes his head, knowing it would be rude.
Knowing he’ll just regret avoiding Tony, too.
The man is smiling.
“I love you, Peter. Pepper and Morgan love you, too. We’re here for you through anything, including your lows,” Tony tells him.
With that, he kisses Peter’s forehead without a second thought.
Tony has always been affectionate, but now, it’s like he’s opened himself more. That likely has to do with Morgan.
Everything has changed so much…
“Now, I just want you to get warm and get ready for a story,” the man breaks him out of his trance. “Does that sound good?”
“Of course, Mr. Stark.”
Soon, Morgan and Pepper are back with quite a handful of books.
“Whoa, that’s a lot you got there,” Tony comments.
“I didn’t know what to pick! There are so many good ones! Maybe Petey can tell us which one he likes the most,” Morgan suggests.
“Okay, you kids settle down now. You leave the stories to the pros.”
Pepper rolls her eyes. “I’m obviously the pro here.”
Morgan joins Peter on the couch, snuggling against him, the two protected by the blanket. Tony and Pepper sit on the floor, all the books lying around. They show Peter some of them. Of course, the one about the spider that couldn’t web attracts him.
The spider could stick to the walls like any other spider, but she couldn’t make any of the beautiful webs. She felt lonely and alienated. Eventually she finds a group of spiders that have other “flaws” that accept her the way she is.
Tony and Pepper will make silly voices together. Morgan always laughs or gives snarky comments like her parents do. Peter doesn’t really say much, but he feels his body relaxing more and more.
They don’t read all the books, mostly because they still have to eat dinner which has gotten cold. They reheat it and eat together. Peter can feel their eyes on him but he can’t blame them. Other than that, it’s pretty calm.
Morgan is tired after doing everything to make Peter feel better, so she goes to bed rather early (even if she tries to convince them otherwise). Once Pepper and Tony tuck her in, Peter shows up. Morgan is already with her eyes closed, breathing in and out…
Peter grins, kissing her forehead.
“Thanks, Morgan. You’re my hero, too.”
“You’re welcome, Petey-pie…” the girl says sleepily.
Peter smooths her hair gently, soon turning off the lamp for her.
When he leaves, he can tell Pepper and Tony were watching them.
The two plus Peter hang around in the living room. The adults are talking more. Peter is actually in the middle of them, like he’s their kid, too.
Sometimes they ask him stuff to include him. Peter might unintentionally make funny comments every now and then. Pepper laughs out loud, mostly because Peter is just telling her an embarrassing thing Tony did years ago. The man’s look of betrayal makes it all the funnier.
Peter faintly hears Harvest Moon by Neil Young in the background.
The whole time, the spider-teen tries not to scratch his arms and likely tear them apart again. It must mean that his wounds still haven’t healed. And he feels like he can’t just leave to go to the restroom again. Peter is really bad at hiding things and Tony is more than familiar with it.
Millions of “what-ifs” race in a loop inside Peter’s head, which has him not realize the snapping fingers in front of him.
“... hello? Peter?” Tony calls him.
“Oh? Hey. Hi. Sorry. I totally spaced out right now.”
“You’ve been scratching your arm for a bit… Is the sweater bothering you?”
“No! No, it’s just a tic.”
Tony and Pepper eye each other again. Peter wishes he could hide in the blanket lump and never, ever come out again.
“I’m, uhhhh… going to get some water,” the boy panics, leaving the couch even though he doesn’t want to. But he does need a glass of water.
Neil Young is the main thing he hears in the kitchen. Peter, however, can tell the adults in the living room are whispering to themselves. He tries to distract himself with his phone; there aren’t new messages from Aunt May or Ned. They’re both out of town, the former is with her friends she hasn’t seen in five years, and Ned is spending time with his family as he should. Peter doesn’t know about MJ since she doesn’t often open up about her personal life.
Maybe some part of him wants to run away right now. Literally right now. He can do that. But Tony and Pepper are going to look for him. Morgan is going to blame herself because she can’t heal Peter’s wounds – the mental and the physical.
Peter finishes the water in one swallow, nearly choking. Thankfully, that doesn’t happen.
Thus, he returns to the living room. Pepper is standing up while Tony remains on the couch. She sees Peter and smiles.
“I’m going to bed,” she announces. “You two don’t stay up too late, alright?”
“I would never,” Tony jokes.
Peter smiles nervously.
Pepper approaches him and gently kisses his head.
“Good night, honey.”
Honey…
“Hey, don’t I get a kiss, too?” Tony whines.
Pepper rolls her eyes but she kisses her husband, too.
“Um, good night, Pepper,” Peter waves awkwardly and she waves back.
Finally, she’s going upstairs, leaving Tony and Peter on their own.
“So kid, wanna spend some ‘us’ time now?” The hero wonders.
Peter, for some reason, cannot answer right away.
He knows that if he goes to bed, he won’t be able to sleep.
But he doesn’t want Tony to know about his arms.
He has no way out.
“... you okay?” Tony softens his voice a lot more.
“Y-Yeah, yeah, I’m fine, Mr. Stark.”
“Hey now, I don’t bite.”
“I-I know.”
Tony is trying to be that jokey man from before, but his worry only grows. Peter knows that Tony is not going to bed anytime soon BECAUSE of Peter. He’ll stay there forever. And ever.
For once, the boy returns to the couch, but this time he sits on the other corner of the couch, away from Tony. He’s hugging himself as a pathetic form of comfort. And he knows that’s only going to hurt Tony further. Why is Peter like this?
Regardless, the man is stretching an arm, inviting Peter to come closer.
The latter wants to cry.
“Kid?” Tony urges. “What do you need right now?”
Peter gulps. “I-I…”
He can’t hide the sniff.
“I dunno. B-But I don’t want to go to bed,” he replies. “I-I don’t want to go home, either.” I don’t want to be alone. I don’t want to be alone again.
“It’s alright, buddy. You can stay here.”
“I-I feel like I’m getting in the way.”
“You aren’t.”
“It’s like I don’t belong here, Mr. Stark.”
These last words feel like a stab to the heart.
“I’ve been away for five years and- and when I come back, suddenly I find out you have a daughter and you’re not living upstate anymore, and our workshop is gone, and there isn’t hard rock playing in the house… a-and it’s not like this life you built here is bad , it’s just… I wasn’t here for all of it. And you look so happy, Mr. Stark. You have an actual family. And I’m just… here.”
Peter’s vision is blurring.
“... you miss the life we had, right?” Tony whispers.
The teenager nods, trying to contain his sobs.
“Like the nights I spent at the Compound… the movies we watched together… that awesome, open view… all those big rooms… Happy, Rhodey, even Vision who didn’t always show up… When we built stuff together and we had all the bots with us, and when we couldn’t sleep we would just stargaze…” the more Peter talks, the more he breaks. “But now? Everything’s changed. A-And they’re not bad changes! ‘Cause this place here is nice, I-I love Morgan, I love Pepper, but it’s not the same and I feel like I–”
Tony has slowly scooted closer, still not touching Peter.
“... I came back wrong. I… I’m still the same sixteen-year-old from before, but somehow I’m not. You still grew up without me and it doesn’t feel right.”
The man is completely silent, but Peter can tell he’s listening, and every word that comes out of the boy must be killing him inside.
“You guys look so happy together, and with me here… I dunno, I feel like I’m ruining everything.”
“Peter…”
“... I ruined Morgan specifically.”
Tony frowns. “What do you mean?”
Peter freezes and swallows. Now he has to tell the truth.
“Mr. Stark, I… I did… I did something stupid. Something really stupid. The thing is, what happened last night… is that suddenly this dread will fill my gut and it’s like I’m”– he knows it’ll be awful to say –“I’m going to turn into dust at any moment.”
Tony’s tension rises even if he doesn’t say anything.
“And I usually just distract myself, and I can’t sleep anymore because what if I never wake up again?” Peter argues. “But then it happened again in the kitchen when you guys were having fun, and I rushed to the restroom before you noticed and I…”
He sighs deeply, clutching his own arm.
When he pulls up his sleeve, the cuts still look ugly. They don’t look any more healed. The sweater is probably making it worse.
Sensing the horror coming from Tony, Peter cries harder.
“M-Morgan saw this! She saw all of this, and I was so stupid, she’s just a child, she wasn’t supposed to know. S-She didn’t ask any questions but I know she probably wondered why I did this. She just wanted to make me feel better. And she can’t, and it’s not her fault. But what if she blames herself? I even told her to keep this a secret from you. I shouldn’t have done that. I shouldn’t have done this in the first place. I’m so sorry, Mr. Stark.”
As Peter sobs, quiet enough so Morgan and Pepper won’t hear it upstairs, he can sense Tony leaning closer. What is he going to do?
“... It’s not healing,” Tony observes.
“I-I don’t know why. It should’ve healed by now.”
“Hey, I can help my way. You don’t have to force yourself to feel pain.”
“B-But I did this to myself–”
“You don’t deserve it. You’re suffering, Pete. You did it because it made sense at that moment. But even if it wasn’t the best choice… you don’t have to beat yourself up for it.”
How is Tony not angry with him?
While he looks broken, he’s also determined.
“Alright, follow me, kid.”
Tony stands up and heads to the kitchen. He tells Peter to sit on a chair as he likely grabs a first-aid kit. He takes a piece of cotton and likely applies salina.
“You let me know if it burns, okay? I’ll do it slowly.”
Peter may wince, but it’s quite familiar. He used to get hurt pretty often as a kid. Guess that hasn’t changed since.
“After this, you should change into something more comfortable. That sweater isn’t doing good for you.”
“I didn’t want to take it off because you made it.”
“I’m not going to get mad over a sweater, kid. If it’s bothering you, then you don’t have to keep wearing it.”
While saying all of this, Tony’s entire focus is on his arms.
Peter realizes something and tears up again. Some tears might fall.
“Does it hurt?” His mentor asks, concerned he might be making things worse.
“N-No, no, it’s just… I-I don’t remember the last time… we had this.”
I don’t remember the last time you took care of me like this.
Definitely five years ago. Those late nights where Peter came from a bad patrol and Tony had to treat him, along with the doctors he trusted to help Peter. But most of those nights, it was just mentor and mentee, both trying not to mess up but still messing up, and yet learning better.
Peter feels so childish for this. It’s like he hasn’t had parental affection in forever.
Tony chuckles sadly. “Yeah, me neither.”
He looks mournful.
Peter tries to be quiet.
“... I missed this, too.”
The teen looks at Tony, finally.
“I mean, obviously I don’t like that you’re hurt, it’s mostly… I do this all the time with Morgan. I would never trade her or this life here for anything. But in the back of my head… I miss our workshop too, buddy. I miss our sleepovers. Everything seemed so simple back then, right? And all these years, I always had you in my mind. When we bought this cabin… I made sure to have an extra room. Not a mere guest room, but a place for you.”
Tony has stopped treating Peter’s cuts for now, as they’re sharing a meaningful gaze.
“My family… Pepper, Morgan, Rhodey, and Happy were all here. But you weren’t. It never felt complete to me. To any of us, honestly. I didn’t want you to be forgotten. That’s why I told Morgan all about you. We still celebrated your past birthdays. I hoped you’d be here again so we could be together again.”
The hero’s eyes are filled with water.
“I’m glad you’re here with us, Pete. But I understand how you feel. You haven’t had the time to mourn what you lost. You just suddenly returned and all that life you knew was gone.”
Peter tenses. “I-I hope I’m not being ungrateful or anything–”
“No, you’re not. You’re right to feel sad.”
Tony stares at him for a while, until he resumes his job. Peter just watches him in the meantime, looking more exhausted. The boy replays all the things he said…
Somewhere in the back of his head, Peter always had the impression Tony didn’t miss him and would’ve probably been okay without him. And he only welcomed Peter again because Tony didn’t want to ignore him. Or he did it out of pity.
Now, Peter feels stupid for even feeling this way.
After drying his arms with the cotton, Tony seems to apply some ointment onto the injuries, slowly massaging Peter’s arms. Not a word is shared between them.
When the man is over, he sighs in relief.
“You should let them breathe now,” Tony tells him. “If they don’t get better in the morning, we’ll figure something out.”
Peter looks at the cuts, which are still red. At the very least, they’re not burning and itching like before.
“Thanks…” he mumbles.
“You want me to get you another sweater?”
“N-No, no… I'm not cold.”
Peter takes off the one he’s currently wearing, revealing an old t-shirt beneath. The kind that has science puns.
Tony takes the knit sweater for him, folding it neatly. Following that, he puts away the first-aid kit. Peter waits in the chair. Later, they return to the couch. This time, Peter is glued to Tony. The music has been lowered but it’s still there.
The teen, however, wants to cry again.
He knows he can’t change the past and that he has to accept it at one point. But it didn’t have to be this painful. There wasn’t any point. And while he may be with Tony now, Peter will never know if something will separate them again. He doesn’t want to deal with that again.
He can’t stop thinking about it.
Tony, of course, notices. With his arm wrapped around Peter, he rubs the latter’s up and down.
“It’s okay, buddy. You can let it out.”
That way, he cries what is still repressed inside him. Tony allows him, making sure Peter doesn’t cry alone.
Eventually, Peter is lying his head on Tony’s lap, the latter smoothing the former’s hair. Peter has relaxed significantly, though knowing that anxiety is going to bite him back later. In fact, he’s already wondering what time it is. He assumes it must be late.
Tony senses it. “It’s alright, kid. No rush.”
“You should go to bed…”
“I’m not sleepy. Are you?”
“Not really. There’s too much in my head.”
“Same here.”
Peter doesn’t want to be selfish and take Tony down with him, but he figures that’s not true. Tony Stark can do whatever he wants.
“You want to stay like this?” The man asks. “Or maybe we could watch something. Your choice.”
“Hmm… maybe.”
Tony snorts as Peter melts in the touch.
“You really needed this, huh?”
“Yeah…”
Peter faintly hears a remote and the TV speaking at a lower volume. He supposes Tony turned off the music for good. Some goofy cartoon might be airing judging by the noises. Tony switches channels for a bit. Meanwhile, he keeps running his fingers through Peter’s curls, not losing any concentration.
If he’s not mistaken, Tony might have put Finding Nemo. Which they already watched years ago. And it’s right on the scene where Marlin finds the only remaining egg from the barracuda attack.
The soundtrack for this movie is nice.
As well as Marlin’s reassurances and Tony’s presence.
Those two aren’t too different from each other, honestly.
Peter doesn’t actually see the movie now, but he hears the whole plot. He remembers it well.
His eyes are closed.
It’s only the movie, Peter and Tony.
It’s just them again.
Even if everything else has changed… that at least hasn’t.
Peter is home.
He finally feels home.
When he wakes up again, he realizes Tony has lied them both down on the couch. And the man is snoring.
Honestly, as loud as it is, Peter doesn’t mind it.
He just falls asleep once more.
Eventually, Morgan joins them, lying on top of Peter.
Pepper might take pictures.
And Tony complains he’s being crushed.
Peter’s cuts have gotten better. They haven’t quite disappeared, but they’re not red anymore.
As he eats breakfast with Tony, Pepper, and Morgan… Peter realizes he’ll be okay. And sometimes he won’t be okay. But he’ll get through.

Fic appreciations #18
Living Proof
by ArwenKenobi
Another one that I somehow haven't posted about yet! There are so many!
This is an Endgame fix-it with a bucket full of grief and an absolute tsunami of eventual comfort.
After the battle, Peter is still reeling from the fact that Tony is gone when he learns that May is also gone. She died when the snap happened, but she wasn't directly snapped, so she isn't coming back.
In this story, the whole Ironfam was a lot closer pre-snap than we get to see in canon. Peter goes home with Pepper and Morgan, and they all grieve a lot, and it hurts a lot for a while.
But, all is not as it seems. My bestie Tony Stark is coming back.

Prompt idea:
IronStrange no!powers AU wherein Stephen goes into education after his accident, adopts America, and realizes that he has a passion for working with kids, so he takes a job teaching biology and chemistry at a private academy for gifted children in K-12 in upstate New York. It isn't long before he becomes the PTA liason for the school, and immediately he's proven to be great at his job.
Meanwhile, Tony Stark has been divorced for a few years now, but his family has only grown with the adoption of Peter and Harley. After discovering that the boys have been struggling with a bullying problem, Tony decides to move all three of his kids to this academy Pepper and May had told him about, and buys a house in the area. All three of his kids thrive there, and Peter and Harley won't shut up about their new science teacher, so when they come home with a flyer from him asking parents to volunteer for the annual autumn carnival, Tony finds himself attending a PTA info meeting and immediately becomes smitten with the alluring Doctor Strange. Pretty soon, Tony finds himself volunteering for every PTA event just to spend a little more time with Stephen, completely oblivious to the fact that his growing crush isn't unrequited. Bonus points if America is fast friends with Peter and Harley, and Morgan adores Stephen too. Additional bonus points if Stephen is just as oblivious as Tony- gotta love that pining, lol.
Sorry if that's too much detail for a prompt, I just love your style so much and I think you could really do something like this justice
Can you hear me singing?! I really love this prompt, thank you so much for sending it!!
It’s gonna take me a while unfortunately, as I’m currently working full time and writing some other fics, so I wrote this whole thing for the meantime (I’m thinking the actual fic is going to have to be chaptered to get the full effect, I’m getting a million ideas already for this one).
~
This prompt kind of ties in with this idea I’ve been wanting to write about Stephen actually delivering America, and that’s how they meet and he actually meets and adopts her through the connection there.
The idea has been sitting in my list for a while, because I’ve never had anything to follow up with, but I think it would be cool to add in this fic (because I love Doctor Dad and backstories, I’m sorry).
Maybe America’s Mum’s have an accident on the way to the hospital, and Stephen has to emergency deliver her because he’s the only Doctor available at the time.
Maybe her Mum’s both passed away then, and she’s an orphan baby now
Or maybe they’re all okay, but another accident years down the track claims their lives, and Stephen finds out she’s an orphan
Or he meets her again in the hospital because she goes looking for the doctor who delivered her while she’s staying there recovering herself from the accident. Even better if this is in the same timeline as Stephen’s accident, and they’re both patients and they build a connection during the long hours of having no where else to go.
He wasn’t really looking to be a Dad, but something deep inside of him is really drawing him to her. He can’t stand to let her fade into the unknown, so he puts his hand up for carer, and later he makes the adoption official.
Let’s headcanon she’s really smart, but because of her dislexia, it’s hard for her to put her thoughts on paper. So Stephen tutors her and they have these brainstorming nights where they just talk science all night long, and he realises he likes this, teaching kids, they’re so optimistic and artistic and anything is possible to them.
He lost that optimism spark a long time ago, but she’s reigniting it again.
So he starts looking for teaching jobs, thinks of maybe starting his own after school club or something, when an old college professor of his, who finished out his last working years at a gifted school, retires and actually recommends Stephen. He’s heard about Stephen’s accident and thinks this’ll be good for him.
It has to be a sign, that the job practically found Stephen, and it’s so close to home they could walk, and America gets a free education and all the resources she wants- whatever career she decides to pursue.
So he accepts the job. Has five crisis’, almost a breakdown before he starts, but America drags him in the school gates their first morning. And he’s worried, that he’ll hate these kids, or they’ll hate him, and they’ll be annoying and disinterested, disrespectful, or ask a million questions about his hands.
But they hit him rapid fire with questions from the very first bell, and when they realise Stephen really knows his stuff, they’re actually super excited to be in his class.
This won’t be a year of boring lectures from a textbook, Stephen is interesting, and not afraid of gore or messiness. His classes are interesting and real, and it hits Stephen one day, that these kids are wanting to grow up and be doctors and research scientists because of him.
He may not be the king of an operating theatre anymore, but being the king of a classroom of young minds, where he’s making hundreds of other masters of their craft is… wow, this is so much more important than anything else he’s ever been and he loves it.
Meanwhile, Tony has primary custody of his three kids. He’s stepped back a little from work and the limelight (leaving Pep to be CEO of Stark Industries) and he’s really just enjoying being a Dad. These kids are healing traumas he didn’t even knew he had. He still can’t believe he’s kind of good at it.
Pepper and May are still involved in the kids lives, they’ve all got their routines and their family dynamic works seamlessly. They’re both thriving in their careers, and Tony is equally happy for them.
He isn’t at all prepared for the day he’s phoned to the principals office, and Peter and Harley are both pouting and Harley has an actual black eye, and for a second, Tony questions his humanity, because he’s going to kill whoever did that to Harley.
He fusses over the boys until one of the school officials comes along and invites them into the office. Neither of the kids would tell him anything, they’ve never been so shut down with him before, practically sticking to one another silently and refusing to tell him anything.
It all makes sense when he’s told the boys have been the targets of bullying at the school. It literally shatters his heart, and he doesn’t understand why they never told him, until it’s revealed half of the awful things said to them are mockeries surrounding their relationship with Tony.
“I bet you don’t even know Tony Stark” “He’s just using you for good PR because you’re so pathetic” “He only adopted you to look good” “Tony must be ashamed that you’re his sons” “I hope Tony comes to his senses and drops you back on the doorstep you came from.”
Tony un-enrols them on the spot, shouts some choice words to the heads of the school who have allowed this to go on to the point where it became physical, and takes the boys home and cuddles them for two days straight, heartbreakingly icing Harley’s black eye.
Late at night, Pepper and May have heard all about it, while the boys are sleeping. Tony’s wanting names- the kids names, family names, Tony wants to take down anyone and everyone associated with whoever has been picking on his kids, but the women talk Tony out of becoming a bully himself, pushing him into devoting his energy to the kids and giving them a fresh start.
When Pepper is dropping Morgan back off at the end of the weekend, she and Tony discuss the situation, and Pepper tells him about a school for the extraordinarily gifted, like their three children.
She’s heard good things, and she’ll look into it for him. She’s not really happy with Morgan’s school either, and Tony agrees, and it might be easier if all three kids went to the same school.
A week later, Tony is ushering three nervous faces in the gates, holding all three hands. He’s keeping it together- business cold, hoping if he’s calm, it’ll calm the kids. He spends the day stress pacing and calling the school to check that there hasn’t been any incidents.
His said his goodbyes in the morning to three quiet, anxious children, and is bombarded at the gates that afternoon by three smiling, laughing, shouting kids, all talking over each other to tell him about their day.
Their hair is in shambles, they’re literally buzzing. Meanwhile Tony’s been on the verge of vomiting all day with anxiety.
A couple weeks go by, and the hype stays. Tony feels good about making the decision to enrol them there, so good that he’s happy to pack up their life and move closer to the school. Out of their apartment and into a home. It’s a little further away from Pep and May, but they’re happy with the move, too.
Every afternoon the kids brag for hours about school, and Tony hasn’t missed that Doctor Strange is the favourite teacher by far as the boys are concerned. They love his science lessons, love his teaching, his experiments, his guidance. Also, his homework is actually cool, even Tony can admit that, so he gets bonus points.
A few months go by, and Tony is actually hoping parent teacher meetings come up soon, because he so wants to meet this Doctor Strange, who is good as God to the boys. Tony’s even considered reaching out and making one, under a false pretence that he wants to check the boys are warming well to their new school.
So when the boys come home one day, a couple months later, with a flyer from the one Doctor Strange about the upcoming PTA meeting, Tony see’s it as the perfect opportunity to meet the man. They’re also seeking donations for the autumn carnival, and Tony is sure he can sort something out with Pep, so that he has an excuse to speak to the man one on one.
Peter and Harley are insisting he should go, he’s gonna love Doctor Strange, and honestly, Tony’s kind of got a weird little crush? on the man. Even though they’ve never met, the boys have talked so much about him Tony honestly feels like he knows him.
So, he puts on some nice dress pants and a button up and more casual jacket, and goes to his first ever PTA meeting.
He phones May in the car park, kind of freaking out, and she talks him into taking the last steps into the building.
Tony has loved being a Dad, and he’s done all this school stuff before, but suddenly, he’s really spooked at the idea of attending an actual PTA meeting. Suddenly he’s feeling totally inadequate being there.
He’s glued himself to the drinks table at the entrance, and Tony Stark has never, ever been shy, but he feels like he doesn’t really belong there.
Meanwhile, Doctor Strange has noticed a new face at the meeting, and makes his way over to welcome him. He wasn’t expecting Tony Stark, but he’s glad at least one of his students parents read the flyer and actually turned up.
They talk, and Stephen calms him down while Tony is very steadily growing heart eyes.
Stephen is so authoritative, and well spoken, and intelligent, and actually Peter and Harley don’t brag enough, this man is incredible. He’s so thorough and clear running the meeting, he’s organised and has such great ideas.
Tony’s afraid to stand up out of his seat afterwards, he’s fairly certain he might be more than a little turned on.
So he says his goodbyes and goes home to 1) research more about this Doctor Strange, and 2) find something good to donate/contribute to this carnival so he has an excuse to talk to the man again.
They meet casually here and there, talk politely, and Tony finds any and every excuse for them to bump into each other again as soon as possible. It might as well be Christmas the day Tony finds out Harley’s new best friend America is Stephen’s daughter!!!!
She’s got an infinite invitation to the Stark house, so long as her Dad drops her off and picks her up so Tony can see him.
Tony gets more and more involved in the PTA, just to be close to Stephen, and they get friendlier and friendlier, and Tony’s crush is bigger than Jupiter now, and all the kids are teasing him about it, but who could blame him?
Stephen is perfect, and such a good Dad, and god Tony just wants the man in his house for the rest of their lives.
Maybe they have a lot of almosts.
Getting stuck together at he top of a ferris wheel at the carnival, but they never quite kiss.
They go tea tasting together, and Tony could fucking spit it back in his mug, but he swallows every sample for Stephen.
They decorate the hall for prom, and chaperone and they almost kiss again under the lights like a teenage dream. But they don’t.
Tony’s so fucking desperate he might just steal a kiss.
Maybe on the school camping trip they go on, or at the competition where Harley and America win first prize for their invention. Maybe while they’re cooking for charity work, or when Tony invites Stephen to the tower and lets him poke around at their research.
In the end, it’s simple. It late at night, and goodbyes are too hard when they’re this tired.
Tony kisses Stephen, and later, when his head is clear, he can’t believe that Stephen actually kissed him back. He literally goes to bed smiling that night.
It’s Stephen who suggests their first date, and everything falls into place from there.
Eventually, America and Stephen pack up their apartment and move into the Stark’s house, and they do bonfires, and light marshmallows. Friday nights are for movie marathons, and Saturdays are usually spent brainstorming world changing devices and medicines.
They’re happy, and in love, and a family.
Tony and Stephen both adopt all children, and Stephen gets to know Pepper and May, and they all go together to the kids big functions, and share tissues and embarrass them all every time.
And even well past the older kids graduation, Tony is a familiar face around school.
The husband of everyone’s favourite Doctor Strange, always at his husbands side, practically a trophy-spouse, making sure everything is in order and his husband is happy and successful in his endeavours.
Everyone knows them, everyone loves them. They’re the it couple, even though they’re both in their fifties now.
They visit the kids at college all the time, and vacation most of the rest of their spare time.
They’re happy, and eventually they downsize to a small cottage and live a simple life together in one another’s company, far from everything that was difficult in their earlier lives.
They watch the kids take over Tony’s company and do great things, and they feel so incredibly lucky this is their lives. It’s been perfect.

do you take requests? if so, I’d like to formally request reader comforting Tony and just showering him in praise because he truly deserves it and we never see him get treated like that in the movies
it can end with smut if you’d like, up to you 🫶🏻
I wrote this with my friend purplefeathersandblackleather in mind, to be honest. I wanted to write something they would appreciate, and this prompt fit perfectly with what they hinted they'd like. I am pleased to have written it and I'm sorry for any offense that may have been taken.
Summary: Tony Stark was a broken, angry man after he survived his snap to save the universe, but you've brought him back to life slowly, carefully, lovingly. He comes home with bad news after a meeting with his doctor, and you offer him as much comfort and encouragement as you can. Warnings: hurt/comfort, toxic anger, mentions of amputation (story is set post-Endgame, Tony lives) Pairings: Tony Stark/GN!Reader Square Filled: Cuddling Word Count: 3,171

Build Me a Cocoon So I Can Crawl Inside Your Love
Tony’s back from the specialist’s appointment he didn’t want to let you come along for, and he looks really discouraged. The gamma radiation damage had required an amputation above the elbow. It was a strategic choice, designed to offer the best possible outcome for prosthetics. The problem is, it hasn’t been healing well enough to be fitted yet, and by the look on his face, that’s still the case.
Every time he goes in to be assessed, the fitting date is pushed back, and Tony comes home feeling some kind of way. This time he’s sad, resigned even, which you suppose is better than when he was angry and ready to burn off enough flesh to start over. Tony Stark’s righteous anger is hard to refute, but his sadness? It breaks your heart.
You’d met Tony after the heroics, after the messy divorce, after the custody battle. He was never a man who knew how best to heal, and healing the whole universe of its colossal loss was meant to kill him. When it didn’t, he… didn’t handle that very well.
If you had been a home health nurse, one of the court-ordered psychologists, or even among the number of Morgan’s many home tutors (the daughter of the savior of the universe was too valuable to go to regular school, one of the things Pepper and Tony had fought over, with Tony on the side of ‘I know what boarding school and isolation does to a rich kid, you cannot do this to our daughter.’ He’d lost.), Tony would never have given you the time of day. He wants nothing at all to do with anything from before, not even by association.
No, you’re an artist. He’d run into you completely by accident on one of the worst days of his new life, though the events did end up creating an accidental bond. In a bid to completely revamp his life, Tony had been spending time at national parks, and, woefully unprepared for the heat, he’d stumbled into your day camp set up. You’d fed and watered him, but then he’d had a phantom pain attack, and in response, an attack of temper.
Tumblr media
“-- not expect to spend the rest of my life in this much fucking PAIN!” Tony had roared, his remaining hand scrabbling at the knot made out of the empty bottom half of his right sleeve, trying to untie it. You’d come over to help, and in blind frustration, he’d shoved you away, probably remembering someone else, someone who made him feel guilty for being angry.
You’d fallen back into your easel, your ass sliding across your unfinished art, ruining many hours of work.
There was no way you wanted to make things worse for him-- after all, he was the reason you got some of the people you loved most in the world back! --so you’d tried to minimize the damage. They were only things, after all, and you could recreate what you lost. The two of you had quarantined yourselves at either side of your camp, each tending to your own ‘wounds.’ In all honesty, you’d expected him to walk off, but he hadn’t.
An indeterminate number of minutes later, after you’d cleaned everything up and were trying to decide how best to carry it back down to your car, Stark’s left hand thrust into view. He was holding a piece of paper, a receipt, it looked like, with some information scrawled onto the back of it.
“Figure out how much that all cost and I’ll reimburse you. Send me a message on that. It’s private, so,” Tony had heaved a sigh, then continued, “--don’t share--”
“Are you kidding?” you’d said, covering his shaking hand with yours instinctively, to steady it. “I wouldn’t dream of making your life worse, after all you’ve done!”
“Please.” You can still remember his voice, how weary he’d sounded. “No Thanos.”
“Yeah, I’m with you there. Fuck that guy,” you had blurted. “I meant your inventions, the prosthetics! Not just that, but in three months you’ve revolutionized the entire industry, created a whole new sweat-wicking fabric-- can I ask you?” You’d turned around, still holding onto his hand like a complete idiot, too excited to realize you were holding him physically captive. “Is it the same stuff you came up with for Banner? Because that is just genius-- though, I guess I don’t need to tell you that! You’ve always been a genius. I bet you have fifty hard drives full of that kind of stuff, really useful inventions, but people like Obediah Stane and the jerks in the army weren’t ever willing to listen.”
Tony had just blinked at you, a tiny, molecule-thick smile forming on his lips. You knew he’d been in self-destruct mode for months, but impossibly, you did not choose that moment to keep your mouth shut.
“I’m sorry you’re in such pain still. I follow tech news but don’t know much about the actual process, but that’s even more amazing, you know that, right? Pain saps creativity, and so does sadness. You’ve done all that while you’re hurt and miserable? True hero, I swear it.”
“Are you for real?” he had asked, his face a mix of consternation and reluctant happiness. “No one put you up to this? Rhodey?”
“No offense, Mr. Stark, but if War Machine flew my ass up here to make you feel better, do you think I’d have the guts to tell you that?”
Tumblr media
It’s been ten months, the first six of which had been full of affectionate-antagonistic messages sent back and forth, sometimes with large gaps. You hadn’t wanted to take payment, he’d insisted, and you’d both found creative ways to either send money or send the sent money back, right up until the time he’d found out you were about to become homeless.
Tony Stark had moved you into his house. He’d risked the headlines, the speculation, the condemnation, and done it anyway. It didn’t feel like billionaire behavior at the time, and it still doesn’t now that you’re in the clandestine relationship the media speculated about. It felt like something someone does because they love you.
You’re not sure you’ll ever get over that. You don’t want to.
Even so, he’s hard to live with sometimes, even especially on days like this. You almost miss the anger. His attitude today feels like resigned, miserable acceptance, the thing he’d already gone through when he’d lost custody of Morgan to Pepper. You two had already hashed that out, and he’d agreed he wasn’t any kind of parent, might not be for a while. He’d tried to say he wasn’t any kind of partner, and you’d spent a few nights specifically proving that was bullshit.
Sometimes you want to scream at the whole world. To you, Tony Stark is the best of them, because he didn’t have an unassailable moral code. He hadn’t been a model of perfect humanity, and he still isn’t. And still he’d saved everyone. He’d saved people on planets ‘hitherto undreamt of,’ to quote an interaction he’d be upset you’d found out about. You’d thought about trying to rehabilitate his relationships with the people from Before, but it’s going to take a few more years of love, affection, and encouragement to get him there.
It used to be one step forward and four steps back, but now it’s more the reverse. He’s thriving, and you know it’s because he’s getting to hear the good things first, instead of constant critique.
“You’re too quiet,” Tony says from the couch.
“I was gathering rose petals,” you lie. It’s a running joke between you, but one of these days you’ll actually do it, set up a bath or something, knock his socks off.
“Please say it’s for some kind of mind-numbing tea that lets me skip forward a few days,” he groans, scrubbing his hand over his face. “I need the stronger painkillers. I know I said I wouldn’t--”
“Hey, hey,” you soothe, coming over with the pills already in hand.
Tony makes the same face he always does when you anticipate his needs. It’s surprised, pleased, even confused, but the percentages have steadily changed to be more pleased, less confused, and almost never surprised anymore. That’s progress.
You sit on the arm of the couch, next to his residual limb, and he frowns up at you.
“Don’t think I don’t notice that you keep doing that.”
“Do what?” You know, but you want him to address it.
His glare is sexy as hell, but you push your desire back and focus on his emotional state. In your head, you’re cheering him on, and maybe he can feel it, because he says, “I can’t touch you with my hand over there. Not without twisting around.”
You run your hand through his hair to soften his reaction to your response, and thrill at the rumbling ‘mmmm’ sound he makes. “Because I love all of you. If I don’t shy away from your pissy attitude when you’re an entire grump, I’m not going to shy away from--”
For the first time since you’ve been together, he reaches out with his right arm and sweeps you off of the arm of the couch and onto his lap. You try not to react, try not to show how important the moment is, but Tony’s looking right at you, and he can tell something’s up.
“Really?” he says, shaking his head in confusion like you’re some sort of bizarre cryptid.
“You never touch me with your right side on purpose,” you say carefully.
He leans down to kiss you, and it’s not a lust kiss, it’s gratitude, and something about it is sweetly calming. You can tell he got bad news today, but he’ll tell you when he’s up for it, and until then, you can show him he’s loved. When the kiss ends, he leans his head in the direction of the bedroom, and you nod.
It’s mid afternoon, but the blackout curtains on the windows lend an air of evening finality to the room, which you maintain by putting on a small, dim lamp by the bed. Tony changes out of his formal clothes while you watch appreciatively, and when he’s in his sweats, he walks over and lets himself fall onto the bed.
“Fuck,” he says. “Would it be crazy to just--”
“Sleep?” you finish with him. In response, Tony hugs you to him, and you kiss his chest. “Alarm?”
“No, I’ve figured out you’re mostly harmless by now,” he jokes, the words broken up by a ferocious yawn.
Tumblr media
The two of you wake up in a jumble. Tony’s rolled over and thrown his right leg possessively over your hip. He’s awake, as it happens, and when you meet his eyes, he gives a little tug of his left arm, which you’ve been sleeping on. The two of you adjust, which mostly means you end up facing each other, each on your own pillow pile.
“Did the nap help any?” you whisper.
“Always and never,” he says back, and you get it. Some things just… stay broken.
Girding yourself mentally for a negative reaction, you reach up and set your left hand against the spiderweb of scars on the right side of his face.
“I have wanted to say this for months, but every time I thought about it, I recognized that you were too hurt, too full of distorted, hateful thinking to accept it.”
He breaks in, his wry expression undergirded with iron. “You’re so sure I’m ready to hear you now? After the news I got?” You can feel the tightness to his jaw under your fingertips, and you lean over to kiss it away. The way the tension eases almost as soon as your lips brush against his skin is answer enough.
“Yes.” You slide your hand down to rest against his chest, partly to feel the steady beat of his heart. “Your father did too little too late, and it’s okay to acknowledge that.”
“You’re starting there? I need a drink,” he teases, but he doesn’t take his eyes off of you, and his leg doesn’t tense up like he’s ready to get up and run away from what you’re saying.
“Hell yes I’m starting there. You watched me try to live up to my friends’ expectations, do you remember what you said?”
His lips twitch with reluctant amusement. “I said ‘those fuckers want to make you into the friend they want, not the friend they already have.”
“Exactly.”
“Point taken,” Tony grunts. “Next?”
“It’s not your fault that you made things that were misused by people with shitty intentions.”
He turns in bed, shifting so he can lay on his back. You cuddle up, rest your head on his shoulder. “And when those people were the government?” he asks.
“What’s the alternative? Watching them self destruct with Hammer’s shit? When you saw the weapons dealing get too far, you cut it off. You lost a ton of money. You gotta let that go, Tony. You were misled, you lived the life you thought you were meant to, right up until you didn’t.”
“Noted.”
You skip over some things. They’ll keep, and the last thing you want to do is have him sit there worrying about what you’re going to say next.
“Last one for now: that thing with the nuclear warhead and the Chitauri is the most heroic thing you’ve ever done,” you say, scooting impossibly closer. He’s gonna challenge this one.
Tony’s scorn as he turns his head to look at you is palpable, as expected.
“Hear me out: it was amazing that you built the suit for the stones, ok? But you had time to figure that out. You decided about that ahead of time. You had the choice. But the nuke? You just worked on instinct. Do you understand how amazing that was? You knew you could do it and you did it-- and you were afraid. You were terrified, Tony. That’s heroism.” His jaw is working like his teeth can’t settle against each other, and you run your fingertips through the too-long hair spilling over onto his forehead. “You also sat through that even though you wanted me to shut up.”
“True.”
“You want to tell me more about your day?”
“Not even a little bit,” he grins, but you start rubbing comfort along his chest, kissing his shoulder, and he sighs. “They’re going to take more off. Reset the stump, basically. They say that will give it a better chance of actually healing, so I can end up with something I can actually do something useful with.”
“You’ve got a million ideas for prosthetics for your suit, don’t you?” you guess. “It dawns on you that this is the issue. He hasn’t been himself without the fucking Iron Man suit, because even though it’ll conform to him, it’s not pain free until his arm heals. Tony’s been knocked back to larval form for over a year.
This whole time you thought he wasn’t doing anything with the suit because it nearly killed him, because it reminds him of Before, but that’s not it at all. Tony Stark’s suit has always been his saving grace, and he hasn’t really been himself without it.
You extricate yourself and sit up. “Holy shit.”
“Now what?” he says, vulnerable, irritated.
“This is it, this is the thing we’ve been waiting for. When did they say they’re going to do the surgery?”
“You’re excited about this?”
You stand up, too full of energy and excitement to stay still. “Tony, you’re not seeing the big picture! You’re, you’re…” You light on it, a remnant of the very few visits he still has with Morgan. That light at the end of the tunnel is so distant as to be physically painful, but you go for it, because he needs this hope, and so do you. “You’re like a cross between the seventeen-year cicadas and the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Tony!”
He’s shaking his head, sitting up in bed, hand going to massage his stump, brows furrowed.
“The suit! You’ve been exiled from it, right? Because it hurts. It hurts to leave your most vulnerable part exposed and unarmored, and the effort it takes to be the old you long enough to code it to account for what’s missing hurts too. It’s been symbolic, all this time, right?”
His left hand is fisted in his lap, and his jaw is tight, but Tony nods.
“You’ve been buried in the ground without it, it’s the only place you’re safe.” You’re probably pushing the metaphor too far, but you love this beautiful, glorious genius, and it’s not your fault you weren’t smart enough to figure this out before. “You had to heal your heart first, in order to have enough physical capital to heal your arm. You had to be willing to give something up for both-- your privacy, your right to avoid being vulnerable around someone else. Literal inches of the precious amount of arm you have left.”
“Breathe, will you? You’re turning purple,” he teases. It’s a deflection, but a gentle one. You can tell he wants you to continue, even if he can’t bring himself to admit it.
“It’s almost time to come up from the ground, Tony-- and honestly? I think if that arm of yours took less time to heal, you might actually have trashed the rest of your suits. You needed the time. And now, you can turn into a fucking IRON BUTTERFLY. You can already make that suit do anything. Fuck actual prosthetics-- as soon as you figure out the best way to pad out your stump, the sky’s the actual--” you break off and tear up.
Tony gets up, comes over, pulls you close. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but what the fuck are you--”
“You haven’t flown. Since you snapped. You love to fly.” You’re fucking inconsolable. Tony’s toxic fury has led you to compartmentalize everything about his life Before, but it’s part of him, and if you’d have just made those connections earlier--
Tony’s got his hand on your face, walking you back to the door of the bedroom, and now he’s kissing you. It’s tender, forgiving, and despite yourself, you cling to him, your guilt slipping through your fingers no matter how hard you try to grip it.
“Goddamnit, Tony!” you whisper when he shifts his lips to your cheek.
“You called me a butterfly. This is self defense.”
You sniffle defensively. “You’re a beautiful butterfly, Tony. An Iron Monarch.”
“Not yet, I’m not. But you’re going to fucking drag me there, aren’t you?” He sounds pissed, but for one of the first times since you’ve known him, it’s not a toxic anger. It’s the kind of angry you get when you’re loved so much you’re given what you need, not just what you want.
“You’d better fucking believe it,” you say.

Empty ceilings
https://archiveofourown.org/works/52850083 by ManagerOfCrime When he woke up, it was in his bed at the Stark cabin. The room was dimly lit, a stripe of faint yellow light shining through the slit under his door and casting a few soft shadows over the space. Peter stared at the strip of light dumbly, wondering what conversation was waiting for him behind the door. He thought that he'd be perfectly fine not finding out; just staying in his room, ignoring that dreadful light and disappearing into soft shadows and empty ceilings, never having to worry about disappointed fathers and homey cabins again. But he didn't. He didn't manage to slip away into another world free of worries, and he found his mind drifting to the future waiting for him behind that door. --- AU where Tony is Peter's bio dad and they struggle after the blip. Peter parker is forgotten but goes to MIT and is a big partier and goes by Ben Fitzpatrick. Tony and Morgan visit to meet up with a professor and meet Peter who came highly recommended because of his work on cancer regeneration. Morgan remembers Peter and finds his iD card and goes to his dorm to find him. They go to work on the research but get held hostage but Morgan is able to use her bracelet to call Nat and escapes by getting a slushy. Peter gets shot in the head and returns to stark tower
O Brother, Where Art Thou? by theskeptileptic
8 year-old Morgan is struggling after the death of her mom. Her dad is working non-stop and her extended family of emotionally constipated superheroes are just as uncomfortable with her grief as their own. To top it off, she can't stop dreaming about a brother she's never had and all the trouble he might be in. When she convinces Tony to take her with him on a work trip to Caltech, she meets a student who looks a lot like the boy in her dreams. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem very interested in her. Good thing her dad always knows what to do.
A sort of No Way Home, Everyone Lives (Except May and Pepper) Fix It story, where Morgan channels major Pepper Potts vibes, Tony channels major concerned Dad vibes, and Peter channels major college age-Tony Stark vibes. Served with a splash of angst, a heap of trauma, and a sprig of making adults take proper care of one depressed spider child.

brain is going brr brainstorm time
components: sci-fi prison scenario scientist (military?) tony who is in space jail for ______? chemist peter who is pulled into a space station for research space station goes tit's up sci-fi horror style gov sends mercenaries/prisoners into the space ship in rotations to salvage research, bodies, and specimen tony, being a scientist and a fighter, is ideal for this task they offer inmates large sums of money that can either be sent home to their families or used to buy their freedom after enough attempts at some point peter is the person in tony's ear (FRIDAY style) leading him through the facility tony has done this several time -- way more than most, because he doesn't save any money, just sends it home to morgan and pepper and rhodey
questions: what is the research what does tony find that is serious enough to spur a larger plot device what triggers him to physically meet peter who is the enemy? the research? the researchers? some third party? if research is morally reprehensible how did peter get involved

Hi any fic where tony takes peter on his first importsnt vacation, like a remember one where he takes him to disneyland and goes all out but i cant find it. Please
there is this disney fic i found:
Smile! (ao3) - aatticsaltt G, 1k
Summary: Taking Peter to Disney World was one of Tony's better ideas.
and here are some other vacation fics you might like:
a dream is a wish (ao3) - orphan_account G, 7k
Summary: Tony seems to panic for a moment, shifting his weight foot to foot, before spitting out in one mouthful, “I have a business trip in Florida right before your spring break and I talked to May and she says I can bring you to Disney for the week once it’s done ahhh.” He then breathes, grins plastically, and holds his hands out, like, I’m Tony Stark, hold your applause.
Peter runs the words through his head no less than three times to make sure he had understood them properly. “Disney—you and me—spring break?” he repeats.
Tony nods, hair flopping. “I mean, like, don’t feel obligated to say yes, but I thought it would be fun since May says you’ve never gone and she would’ve been working for your whole break anyway, y’know, at least this way we won’t be worrying about you sitting home alone for hours doing G-d only knows what—building accidental robot armies or something, or, worse, becoming a couch potato and forgetting every bit of knowledge I’ve ever carefully placed in that rat trap you call a brain—”
“Tony,” Peter says, waving his hands to shut Tony up. Something warm sits in the core of his chest, hovering. “Yeah,” he says. “Yeah, yeah, for sure, let’s—Disney. Let’s go. Wow.”
All in My Head (ao3) - Stars_n_planets91 pepper/tony, peter/ofc T, 85k
Summary: Or an AU where: Tony survives, and Tony, Pepper, Harley, Peter, and Morgon go on a summer vacation. Peter struggles to figure out where he belongs within all the changes, Harley is as sarcastic as ever, and Parker luck has never been...well...Parker luck is still Parker luck...
The Avengers at Disney World AKA The Biggest Mistake of Tony Stark's Life (ao3) - percyjacksonfan9261 wanda/vision, mj/peter T, 142k
Summary: When Tony Stark invited the Avengers from far and wide, from the greater New York area to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, to go to Disney World for Morgan's 6th birthday, he was not expecting the chaos that came with it. From Peter Parker and Shuri becoming the best of friends to Vision roping everyone into a marriage proposal, Tony had no idea the amount of chaos he would be descending onto the Happiest Place on Earth.
The Avengers Summer Vacation (ao3) - MarvelObsessedgirl3 G, 26k
Summary: Peter Parker is left with the Avengers for the Summer holidays and Tony decides to take him on his first ever vacation. Unfortunately for Tony, the rest of the Avengers want to come too.

We were in one of the lab rooms, trying to come up with a plan.
“YN needs to get cleaned up. She needs medical attention.”
“Put me down.”
Peter looked down at you, making a face, causing you to nod.
“Put me down.”
He sighed softly, helping you so you were standing, keeping one arm wrapped around you while you placed one of your arms over his shoulders.
“All I need is the nurse's office.”
“Mel, no.”
“Peter, yes. I just need stitches and water. Though, alcohol would be prefered-”
Peter shot you a look, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Mel.”
You grinned, shaking your head.
“Kidding, kidding. But seriously, I’m fine, and I’ll be even better after a trip to the nurse's office. Peter can take me.”
You turned, looking up at Peter.
“Right?”
He nodded, turning towards the others.
“Yeah, I can take her.”
“Mel I don’t-”
“You know I went to school here, right? I know where the nurses office is and how to get there. I’ll be fine.”
“But-”
You shook your head, lifting your hand, cutting him off.
“Nope. I’m older than you and what I say goes. You guys stay here, get started on the cures and then we’ll be back and help.”
“Technically, he’s the oldest.”
Peter pointed back towards the older Peter, causing you to huff as you shot the older Peter a look.
“Well?”
He looked between you and Peter, nodding slightly.
“I think your friend is right Peter. We can get started while she gets cleaned up.”
You nodded, shooting Peter a slight smile.
“See?”
You turned towards Peter, nodding.
“Come on.”
He nodded, keeping you close to him as you walked out of the room, the door closing behind you both.
“Alright, sooo, which way?”
“Left.”
He nodded, bending slightly, picking you back up, causing you to gasp.
“Hey!”
He shook his head, glancing down at you.
“You’re injured. Plus, it’ll be quicker.”
You huffed, mumbling to yourself as he walked down the hall. He glanced down at you as he turned down the hall you'd pointed too, looking around.
“So, you went to school here?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s cool.”
“Mhmm. I used to go here with Peter.”
You slightly made a face, tilting your head to the side.
“Well, my Peter and the others.”
You gasped when Peter’s hold on you loosened, grabbing onto his suit as Peter scrambled to right himself, looking down at you.
“Sorry. You just uh- surprised me, s’all.”
“Turn here.”
He turned, glancing down at you.
“So uh, how’d that work? I thought he was in school now. You don’t look-”
His eyes widened as he shook his head, mumbling.
“Nope, nope. Not going there. Nope.”
He looked down at you, shooting you a puppy dog look that reminded you of your Peter’s, sighing softly.
“How?”
“It’s a long story, really long. Simply put, half the universe was snapped away, including Peter and MJ. They were gone for five years.”
“That uh- that sucks.”
“Yeah. It's through the office.”
You reached out when Peter stopped in front of the office door, pushing it open.
“Third room on the left.”
He nodded, walking through the office and down the hall, stopping in front of the door, waiting patiently while you opened it. The light cut on as he stepped in, moving to set you down on the table.
“First aid kit?”
“Top cabinet.”
He nodded, turning and walking towards the cabinet.
“So, where are you hurting?”
You looked over at him, slightly tilting your head to the side.
“Everywhere.”
His eyes widened slightly as he nodded, grabbing the chair and walking towards you.
“Painful.”
“I- my arm and side hurt the most. Back too, if that helps.”
He nodded, sitting the kit down beside you.
“It does.”
⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅∙∘☽༓☾∘∙•⋅⋅⋅•⋅⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅
“So, how’d this happen?”
Peter was working on getting the glass out of your arm, his tongue sticking out slightly as he concentrated.
“Fell onto a glass table.”
“Fell or pushed?”
“Hmm, both?”
He laughed slightly, shaking his head.
“So, how’d it happen? For real.”
“Connors. He attacked me while I was trying to find Peter. We went at it for a couple of floors, well, he went at it, I mainly just ran and got slammed around.”
“I’m sorry.”
You shook your head, wincing  when he dabbed the rubbing alcohol over your arm.
“It’s not your fault.”
He nodded slightly, grabbing the gauze.
“It kinda is. Connors, he’s uh, from my universe. Him and Max.”
“Oh. Well, you’ve got your hands full then.”
He laughed, nodding.
“Yeah, guess so.”
He cleaned up after wrapping your arm, looking down at you.
“You said your side too, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay, let’s see it then.”
You reached for the hem of your shirt, wincing, causing Peter to tilt his head to the side.
“I can- it’ll probably be easier to just take it off, right?”
You nodded, watching as Peter nodded slowly.
“Okay, well, we can just take it off, yeah?”
“Okay.”
Peter tilted his head to the side, looking down at you.
“Do you need help?”
You nodded, sighing softly.
“Yeah.”
He nodded, walking towards you, slowly reaching for the hem of your shit. He was careful as he helped you take it off, sitting it down at the end of the table.
“Wow.”
You shot him a look, huffing.
“What?”
He shook his head, meeting your eyes.
“No, nothing, just you’ve got a lot of bruises, s’all.”
“Well, that’s what happens when you get thrown around like a ragdoll.”
“Good point.”
You laughed slightly as you laid down, tapping a mindless pattern on your stomach, your right arm above your head as Peter started to clean around the cut on your side. You jerked at the sting, Peter glancing at you.
“Sorry, sorry. I know it hurts.”
You tried not to react when he started to stitch your side, but a particular harsh tug caused you to jerk, wincing.
“Sorry. I forgot you don’t have my healing.”
“Mhmm, technically I do. Much better than yours, I bet.”
“Really?”
You nodded, wincing when he pulled a little too hard, shooting him a glare, causing him to wince slightly.
“Sorry. Keep talking.”
“Yeah, you know, I haven’t been in pain like this for sometime.”
“Yeah. When I was a kid, I was kidnapped and they experimented on me. Whatever they were trying to do worked, in the end I guess. I got powers and I’m practically immune to sickness and I heal, like insanely fast.”
“That’s cool. So why don’t your powers work now?”
“Dr. assface.”
He laughed, tying off the end of the stitches.
“Who’s he?”
“The reason all of this is happening.”
“And why is he an assface?”
You clenched your jaw, looking up at the ceiling.
“He’s the reason my dad’s dead.”
Peter looked over at you, his eyes side.
“I’m sorry.”
You shrugged as Peter helped you so you were sitting, grabbing the gauze.
“I- I can’t be mad at my dad, not really.”
“How come?”
You smiled softly, shaking your head as he started to wrap the gauze around your middle.
“He saved the universe. His sacrifice ensured that everyone we brought back, lived.”
“Brought back?”
You nodded as he tapped the gauze, turning and cleaning up.
“Yeah. Big purple alien wanted to make everything ‘equal’ and snapped half of existence away. And he did, till we managed to bring everyone back. But his past self managed to come to the present and planned on snapping again, except he was going to make it so no one would remember what happened. But my dad, he stopped him before he could do that.”
“That’s what you meant earlier, when you said Peter and MJ were snapped but you weren’t.”
“Yeah.”
He nodded, grabbing your shirt, helping you put it back on.
“Thanks.”
He nodded, sitting back in the chair, reaching towards you. You jumped, grabbing his hand, causing his eyes to widen as you winced.
“Sorry. Force of habit.”
He nodded as you let his hand go, glancing down at your hand.
“You may not be at full strength, but you’re still pretty strong.”
You shot him a small grin as he moved your hair out of your face, eyeing the cut along your head.
“Let’s clean that up.”
You nodded, watching as he grabbed the rubbing alcohol, dabbing it on a cotton ball.
“So you’re dad brought everyone back-”
“No, that was a friend, Bruce. My dad ensured everyone’s safety, a chance for a future.”
Peter nodded, humming softly as he started to clean the cut.
“Right. So, what about you? Were you-”
“I grew up. Without my friends.”
“That sucks.”
“Yeah.”
You watched as he grabbed some gauze, pressing it to your forehead, catching the fresh blood.
“Now it’s my turn to ask you a question.”
He smirked, nodding.
“Sure.”
“Why are you doing this? Helping me?”
His eyes fell serious as he lifted the gauze, checking the blood.
“Your Peter, he’s lost enough people important to him. He can’t lose you too.”
You tilted your head to the side, grinning.
“Who said I’m important?”
He met your eyes, nodding.
“Your friends were worried about you, before we even came here. And then the way they act around you, their eyes lit up when they saw you come around the corner. And the way you’re protective over them. I mean, you were hardly standing but you were still willing to fight me and Peter to keep them safe.”
“They’re just kids.”
“So are you.”
You shot him a look, huffing.
“I’m twenty two. I’m not a kid.”
He nodded, grinning.
“Right, because you weren’t snapped.”
“Exactly.”
He reached over, grabbing a bandaid, placing it over the cut, causing you to grin.
“Thanks.”
He nodded looking your face over.
“No problem.”
He started to put everything up, making sure everything was in order.
“Can I ask another question?”
You nodded, glancing over at him.
“What’s on your hand?”
You looked down at the gauntlet, smiling softly.
“It’s a gauntlet. My dad made it. It’s got a small concentration of my powers.”
“Really? That’s so cool”
You nodded, running your finger over the metal grooves.
“Yeah. He made it for me years ago. I’ve never had a reason to use it before.”
“But you have a reason to use it now.”
You nodded, glancing at him.
“I think I’m going to need it before this is all over.”
⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅∙∘☽༓☾∘∙•⋅⋅⋅•⋅⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅
Peter was looking for some pain killers for you, glancing at you over his shoulder.
“Can I ask you one more question? Last one, I swear.”
You laughed softly as you looked over at him, nodding.
“Sure.”
“Why does Peter call you Mel?”
You smiled, softly shaking your head.
“My dad. It means bee. My dad used to call me honey, before I was kidnapped. And after I was kidnapped, I was angry, resentful. My dad decided to call me bee, instead. But living in the eye of the public, my dad started to call me Mel. and it just so happens to mean both honey and bee. So those closest to me call me Mel.”
He shot you a smile, nodding as he handed you the pills.
“Well, I think it fits you perfectly.”
You smiled softly, glancing at him as you downed the pills and water.
“Thank you.”
He helped you off the table, the both of you walking back to the labs. Peter moved in front of you, reaching for the door when you stopped him.
“You can call me Mel, if you want.”
You shrugged, casting a glance at the floor, wringing your fingers together.
“Or YN, it doesn’t matter.”
Peter shot you a smile as he opened the door, stepping to the side so you could walk in.
“Mel!”
You looked up, watching as Peter walked towards you, wrapping his arms around you.
“Are you okay? You guys were gone for a while and I was starting to get worried-”
You smiled, slightly shaking your head.
“I’m okay, promise. Getting stitches just takes some time. Now, what’s the plan?”
Peter grabbed your hand, leading you to the table he was working at, walking around it once you’d sat down, motioning towards the devices.
“I’m working on the devices for Dillon and Marko, Peter’s got his, and we left Connors for Peter.”
You nodded, noticing the way he’d tensed.
“It’s okay, you know.”
He glanced at you, humming.
“To want him dead.”
“Mel-”
“After the blip- after we helped those who returned and got everything semi-normal again, I was done. I had nothing else to do. But I was so angry. Because all I could do after was relive it. The first fight, when we were in space, Strange had said something to my dad before he handed over the time stone. And then at the final battle, right before dad snapped, and Strange incapitated me, Strange had said it again.”
“Said what?”
“There was only one way. I didn’t understand it at the time and then dad snapped. If I wasn’t helping Strange, I could’ve helped my dad.”
Peter shook his head, looking over at you.
“YN, you know there was no way you could’ve helped.”
You huffed, shaking your head as you shot him a deadpanned look.
“I could’ve. We know nothing about my powers except that I’m powerful. When I realized what was happening, I tried to get to him. But Strange, he held me back. Did the same thing he did then, today.”
He made a face, tilting his head to the side.
“But you had-”
You nodded, sighing. Strange may have blocked your powers, but he couldn’t keep your love for your father under control. Your powers came back full force after your dad took his last breath, a force of energy leaving you as you stayed curled next to him, the force knocking everyone surrounding you back.
“When he finally let me go, and he opened the portal so I could get to dad, and I saw him, my emotions basically went haywire. But I had to keep it together. But then when he- when he died, my emotions overpowered whatever block Strange had done. I was so upset. But I had to suck it up because Pepper and Morgan needed me, and the Avengers needed someone to look to. So I went to the Sanctum Sanctorum.”
“Where Dr. Strange lives?”
You nodded, looking down at the desk, tracing a scratch on the desk with your finger.
“I destroyed the Sanctum. I stood in the middle of it, standing over Strange. I was going to kill him. I almost did.”
“But you didn’t.”
You shook your head, sighing softly.
“No, I didn’t.”
“Why?”
“Wong. He portaled right into the middle of it.”
“And he stopped you?”
You chuckled, shaking your head.
“No. He actually told me to do it.”
“What?!”
Everyone jumped, shooting looks at you and Peter, causing him to wince.
“Sorry, sorry.”
Peter looked back at you, shaking his head.
“He said what?”
You grinned, nodding.
“He told me to do it. Even offered to get rid of the body for me. He said he knew some places that nobody visited or were unable to have visitors. I thought it was a trick and that when I went to kill Strange he’d stop me.”
“Was it? A trick?”
“No. He didn’t make any attempt to stop me.”
“So then why is Strange still alive?”
You smiled softly, shaking your head.
“My dad. I heard his voice. He told me he was proud of me and he loved me. I don’t know if it was him or if Wong had interfered. But I let Strange go. I left him there and rebuilt the Sanctum as I left. I hadn’t been back there since I went there to find you.”
Peter nodded, muttering a small ‘sorry’ as he glanced at you.
“Do you regret it? Letting him live.”
You grinned, tilting your head to the side.
“Right this second I do.”
Peter chuckled, shaking his head.
“YN.”
You took a deep breath, nodding.
“Sometimes. When I think about what I lost, Morgan and Pepper. I get angry. I think about what could happen if I did kill him.”
“And?”
“My feelings never change. My dad is still gone. And he’ll still be gone if I kill Strange. Killing Strange won’t bring him back. Taking his life would change nothing.”
“I still want him dead.”
You smiled, nodding as you looked up at him.
“And that’s okay. I still want Strange dead more often than not.”
You reached out, placing your hand over Peter’s causing him to stop what he was working on, looking over at you.
“If you want him dead, I’ll help you.”
He smiled softly, nodding.
“I know you will.”
“Hey.”
You looked up, smiling at MJ as you stood.
“I’m just gonna go.”
Peter laughed, shaking his head as MJ sat next to him.
“Smooth.”
You grinned, nodding as you walked away.
“I know.”
⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅∙∘☽༓☾∘∙•⋅⋅⋅•⋅⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅
Peter looked over at the younger Peter and you, furrowing his brow when he saw the look on your face when MJ walked towards you both, you standing and walking away.
“You have someone?”
Peter jumped slightly, looking over at the older Peter, shaking his head.
“No. I got no time for Peter Parker stuff, you know?”
He looked down at the cure he was working on, glancing at the older Peter.
“Do you?”
“It’s a little complicated. I understand.”
“I guess it’s just not in the cards for guys like us.”
“Well, I wouldn’t give up. Took a while, but we made it work.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Me and MJ.”
The older Peter glanced at the younger Peter and MJ, slightly making a face.
“My MJ.”
“Hey.”
They both jumped, causing you to grin as they looked over at you, laughing softly.
“Need any help?”
They shared a look, shrugging.
“Do you know-”
“My dad was one of the smartest people in the world. I helped him all the time. I even have my own lab.”
“Really? That’s so cool.”
“Don’t listen to her.”
You gasped, turning towards Peter, your eyes wide.
“Peter!”
“She has more than one lab and she’s considered to be the smartest person in the world.”
You laughed, shaking your head.
“Flattery’ll get you everywhere Pete.”
He laughed, shooting you a grin as you turned back towards the two Peter’s.
“Well?”
“If you’re offering, we’ll take it.”
You nodded, grinning.
“Good.”

PoliZ’s Birthday Self Recs: Pepperony
Indulging myself in the week leading up to my birthday by sharing some  of my favorite MCU/Marvel fics I’ve written, grouped primarily  by  pairing/relationship.
Finishing up with Pepperony - aka  Pepper Potts/Tony Stark.  I’ve written  23 Pepper/Tony fics   and  three (but probably more)  that feature  Pepper & Tony.   Yes, it’s het and yes it’s canon ... and there are some aspects of their MCU relationship that might need work, but IMHO these two truly bring out the best in each other and want the other to be happy, which is a pretty important relationship goal.
Here  - in reverse chronological order  by pub date - are a few of my favorite Pepperony fics I’ve written, at least as of this moment.   If you’d like to know why I picked these particular ones, feel free  to send an ask, and if you go read them, I’d love to hear what you  think, either here or as a  comment on the fic!   Finally, a big shiny No Prize to anyone who  identifies the song that four of these titles came from!
Home of the Brave
(General, historical AU with dragons [dragon!Steve & rider!Tony], 42,206 words) - Blacksmith and inventor Anthony Stark has convinced himself he is satisfied with his life.  A tragic accident cut his career as an aviator short, so he retreated to upstate New York and a hermit life.   He unintentionally becomes companion to a runty dragonet who is more than he seems, and it turns his life upside-down.  (NOTE:  The Pepperony is a secondary relationship to the  Steve & Tony one,  but plays a fairly significant role in the overall story)
The Sweetest Dream Will Never Do
(General, domestic fluff [mostly], 1300 words)  Tony and Pepper welcome their baby girl into the world;   Harley and Peter join in to celebrate with them.   Mind the warning/tags.
Seeing Red
(Mature, IM3 canon-compliant, 1517 words) Pepper Potts thought she was falling to her death, but the Extremis virus in her system saved her.  Moments later, she finds herself taking a life.  This is what happens next.
Enumerations
(General, domestic fluff, canon-compliant, 798 words) A soft, domestic moment with her husband reminds Pepper how lucky she is to have him and their soon-to-be daughter.
You Give Me Reason To Live
(Mature, sexy fluff, canon-compatible,  1896 words) Pepper has a very special (and not-so-private) gift planned for Tony.
As I Fall Into View
(Teen, Post-Endgame grief/mourning, 798 words) - Pepper and Morgan find a way to honor their memories of their lost loved one.
Honorable mention goes to  The Lengths That I Will Go To , which is a Stony fic, but Tony and Pepper have a strong friendship, and I love the way this version of Pepper evolved throughout the story.
