okay everyone promised to be niceys about it so here's a snippet of the first chapter of the neo-noir whatever the fuck i'm writing. everyone be nice or else i'll explode into a puddle of tears ok?

Red Vixen Returns! After what appears to have been a two year hiatus, famed cat burglar ‘Red Vixen’ has struck again, this time taking a stab at Overeasy Industries! Newest reports claim that the Phosphoril Rose was stolen last night out of its exhibit at the Museum of Earth Sciences. The CEO of Overeasy Industries has promised that any credible claim to it’s whereabouts that lead to the recovery of the artifact will be rewarded handsomely-

“Turn that off, would you, Vette?”

The television cycled off the news and on to a different news station, then more news, and finally, a gossip tabloid that, again, was covering the news. With a disgruntled hawk in her throat, the bartender tossed the remote onto the countertop, unable to escape chippy newscasters with dead eyes and fake cheer. “If you can find any channel not showin’ that, you’re welcome to it.”

The remote slid, spinning, over the scarred, heavily-lacquered wood. The man at the bar stopped it with the hand not currently holding his glass, tapped the channel buttons a time or two, and eventually settled on golf. The tournament lasted for all of fifteen seconds before the breaking news bled overtop of it, too. He finally turned the whole system off instead.

“Don’t know what you were expecting, Mars. It’s Overeasy. They’ve bought every station we get out here.”

“Mm,” said Mars. “Can’t hurt to try.”

“Awfully hopeful, coming out of you. Careful, someone might just try to steal that off ya.”

Knocking back the remnants of his drink, he set his empty glass an inch over the invisible line that begged for a refill. “Welcome to it. Not sure who I lifted it from myself.”

Vette smirked and pulled a pair of dirty bottles from the rack behind her, grey hair tied out of her face with a black leather cord. “Probably the Valentines, if I had to guess. Julio’s always got some to spare.”

“Julio’s full of spare parts. His brother and his sister in law aren’t much better.” Mars waited patiently as Vette offloaded old stock into his cup, then took it back with two fingers. “Dunno why you let your boy run around with ‘em. Gang types, through and through.”

Vette shrugged her shoulders and replaced the liquors to the shelf, sending up a puff of dust as she did. “Who cares where they came from? Keeps Tommy out from underfoot. Better he go knocking over trash cans with them three than the neighborhood boys. At least the Valentines know how to handle a weapon.”

Mars gave his head an acquiescing little tilt. “Just thought you’d stay away from cats that reek of a family, that’s all.”

Vette leaned over the bar with one arm, gesturing at the establishment, as much as it could be called that, with the other. “Hey, here at the Dog, everyone’s family as long as they leave their guns at the door. Doesn’t matter who killed who, what corp fucked over the next, anyone that wants a drink or somethin’ to eat can get it as long as they have the money to pay and don’t spill bad blood within two feet of the doorstep.”

That was true. This dive was the only place that was truly neutral in the entire town. The bartender looked and acted like she’d shoot you, along with her husband and the entire waitstaff, so nobody dared cause any trouble within the doors of the Sighthound. Otherwise called ‘the Dog’, by anyone who had been here more than once. The walls, floors, even the tables were stained with the arguments of generations of enemies who had come together to dine as strained equals, along with a hefty dose of grime. Smoke hung low in the air, mixing with the rank scent of desperation. The opened front door only did so much to clear it out, but hey, if having health insurance was mandatory by law, why not make good use of it?

Mars removed his hat to fan it under his nose anyway. He couldn’t smell the ethanol of his drink through this haze. Vette rolled her eyes, made a comment about his failing constitution, and wandered off without waiting for him to bite out a retort. “Sure, sure. Have to be the one born this minute to start anything here. You’d have ‘em sharing a scientific classification with a colander in a second.”

“Damn right.” Vette turned the television on again, though Mars hadn’t seen her swipe the remote out from under his sleeve. The news bulletin had faded, golf proceeded apace. She pulled a face and started looking for anything else. Mars sipped his highball and did not pull one, though tequila rose was not a proper ingredient no matter what old swill Vette was trying to cycle through the inventory tab. “That’s why we say two feet away from the door. Gives us enough time to close it before we start gettin’ stains on the hardwood.”

With a subtle glance behind him, Mars studied the floors. It was hard to tell there was wood under the inch of grit and mud, but he’d take her word for it. They were almost alone here. The ‘enforcers’ that were the Valentines were playing babysitter, the owner of the bar was up in his office, and who drank at two o’clock on a Tuesday?

Other than him, of course. And the guy that just walked in the door.

Vette looked up, blue eyes a-blinking. “Oh, that’s gotta be the lunch order. Hold that thought, Capone.”

BOY DID YOU ASK A QUESTION!!!!!!!

I’ve waxed on and on about the writers of Moon Knight. The best ones, the worst ones, a few mediocre ones that got the job done…. 

But what about the art? 

Each artist has their own style, their own ideas, and their own grasp of Moon Knight. 

When you get very lucky, you get a writer and artist dream team that create something beautiful. 

Let’s start with Bill Sienkiewicz. 

(THIS WASN'T EVEN FOR A COMIC. HE JUST FUCKING DREW THIS FOR FUNZIES)

He was not the first to draw Moon Knight. THAT was Don Perlin!  Look at this cape design! 

He was relatively new to the comic scene, but quickly a very sought after man. New Mutants, Electra, and many others for many different publishers. 

And even after he left us he still pops in now and then to remind us that no one…NO ONE can draw Moon Knight like he can.  Look at Sienkiewicz JUST FLEXING. 

(2014 people!!) Someone came to him and went, "Hey we could use a Moon Knight Variant. Do you wanna dip back in and hand us a little ol' Moony?"

And he gave them this and I'm sure they went "...WTF we didn't even ask for this. We thought he'd just do him perched on a building or something in the distance. What do we do with this? It's too good holy crap."

But he gave us more than the cowl. He gave us the men who wear it. 

And as amazing as his art was:

I could wax on and on about Bill all day… But let’s take a look at some other artists. 

Kevin Nowlan Kept the dark parts of the suit and the billowing cape. 

Bo Hampton is the one that teamed up with Zelenetz to give us a fantastic sleek and angry design. Here's MK punching some Neo-Nazi in the face! 

Chris Warner came later in "First of Khonshu" run and started with a very classic 1990s muscle bound and glitzy design. A design that might start to look familiar to those of you with a sharp eye (look at that belt. We're approaching the BLING age of Moon Knight.) 

This was a weird time in comics for Moon Knight. We were switching out writers a lot and he suddenly had a much more Egyptian style theme. 

Moon Knight art goes on a WILD ride after this. We get the "Marc Spector" run that spans late 80s and early 80s and the art gets very 90s. Solid, Dark, and BUSY.

Sal Velluto (With the Punisher! This was a fantastic pair up!) 

Ron Garney Plays with the sharp edges of the cloak and that’s nice. Also gives his mask a bit more of a definition. 

Gary Kwapisz comes in with a BOLD metallic Moon Knight. Just look at those fists! Time time in MK was just wild you guys. 

James Fry flies in and tries to make sense of those MUSCLES. 

1993 arrived and the 90s hit HARD. 

Stephen Platt deep in that 90s style. 

What’s happening here? I don’t know. You don’t know. No one knows. But man does it look ACTION COOL. 

Muscles got BIG in this period in the 90s. Anatomy got weird and chest size had no limits. 

Tommy Lee Edwards steps in and slims our pal Moon Knight back down.

Now THAT is a breath of fresh air. I love this. 

Look at the use of that cape! And the hood? The subtle mask outline… Yes please. 

Mark Texeira steps in after this. Let me tell you guys about this art. This is the start of the modern age. 2008! 

(Look at the little Moon Knight design in the upper right near the signature! OMG little cutie!) Also the details in that rugged face and wet hair. 

But how does the suit look?

Nice.

We leave behind the glorious Tex and head to David Finch! You might recognize some of these motiffs as we get to some more popular runs. 

Hello there fist spikes! This is when Moon Knight starts to get his reputation as being a bit…punchy… 

The point in his cowl gets defined in this style too. 

Mico Suayan takes on this hard hitting run too. 

Clean lines, dark darks and white whites and that cape! The spikes are gone but the muscles are coming back.

This was a big action packed run and numerous artists got a chance. 

Now… This is about where I stop listing every single artist because it gets too fast pace with single issues, annuals, events, and all that fun business. SO here are some highlights. Also I have an upload limit so I'm sorry I can't show you all the beautiful art styles that branched off at this time.

Bong Dazo  gave us that little sad startled cat. 

Jerome Opeña Had such AMAZING action picks. I’ve never seen action done so well. And that outfit! 

I…I could go on forever about this artist and the run he did. But that’s for another day… Just know that I think about it all the time and it lives in my head rent free. 

I’m going to skip a lot here and jump to the BIG GUNS. 

Hate the run, LOVE the art. 

My dear Alex Maleev makes it worth it. 

The absolute SLAYING of the white in every image kills me. LOOK. LOOOK AT THE USE OF NEGATIVE SPACE.

It honestly brings me back to Sienkiewicz. 

I’m screaming inside holding this up to the moon. 

From there we slide SO easily into Declan Shalvey my precious. 

You know what I’m talking about. 

Ron Ackins Took over from there and it was stellar.

I am going to skip over THREE artists on purpose because not only was the RUN bad (the worst) but also the ART was just the worst. (See BEMIS run. Ugh. Nothing was good in that run.) 

Do I need to talk about Greg Smallwood? 

Do I really need to post anything about Greg? 

Or Cappuccio who works with MacKay's current run? 

Or Federico Sabbatini who also fills in with MacKay?

(I would but I'm out of picture space. Thanks Tumblr).

So who is my favorite? 

Hard to say… I’m caught up in the colors and designs of some, the action styles of others. Sometimes the raw power of MK’s fighting or just in how clever his cape and cowl are done. 

And sometimes I crave that amazing 1980s Sienkiewicz designs of Moon Knight in the rain, Stained Glass Scarlet’s everything, and the shape of Moon Knight (or shapelessness of him). 

I could argue that ANY artist that draws Moon Knight during a good run is my favorite. I could forgive most any style if the story is right and the style will weave into the words and the flow of his cape will settle into my heart once again. 

And sometimes….

Tommy looks sad: "It might be time to...to let go, Darnold. Between right here and in there...maybe...she'll be safer...here..." Darnold's eyes widen in realisation of what Tommy is asking him to do, and he looks down at Sasha, the Gubb climbing her way up clumsily to rest on his shoulder where she begins to chatter contentedly. She had gotten quite comfortable in his presence over the time they'd spent together. Darnold turns away, teeth gritted and sorrowful eyes hidden behind the light reflected in his lab goggle. Benrey, who's leaning on the opposite wall with arms folded, glances momentarily at Darnold with an unreadable expression before looking down.

Gordon's concerned: "You good there, Darnold? You, uh-" "I- I need a minute," Darnold stammers, cutting him off. "I'll be right back..." He starts down the hall back the way they came, and the Science Team looks on sadly. "You think he's gonna be alright walking off by himself like that?" Gordon asks Tommy. Behind them, Dr Coomer places a hand over his heart and the other on Bubby's shoulder and solemnly says: "Oh, I miss him every day."

Gordon turns around immediately: "No...no," he sighs, "Dr Coomer, he's not dead. Just because someone walks out of your line of vision doesn't mean they die. Object permanence, man." Dr Coomer simply keeps his overly woeful expression. Even Bubby looks at Coomer in mild confusion. "Mr Freeman?" a voice calls from next to Gordon. "Mr- Mr Freeman?" Gordon turns around to address Tommy, tiredly: "Huh, wuh, yeah? Yes?" Tommy averts his eyes, very carefully piecing his next words together: "...Mr Freeman, Darnold...he has a very hard decision to make, Mr Freeman. A-and sometimes...that means being- needing to be alone...like making the decision to..."

Tommy pauses, thinking, then resumes: "...to put it lightly, the decision to say goodbye to a pet." Gordon stares at him, struck speechless for a moment. "Tommy, that might be your darkest analogy yet. What is UP with you guys and having death on the brain?" "Oh, I'm okay now," Darnold says as he walks past, startling Gordon who hadn't noticed his return. Darnold's expression is hidden. "We may proceed," Darnold says, pressing ahead. Gordon sputters: "Oh, uh, yeah! Okay!" "Welcome back, Dr Darnold!" Dr Coomer says jovially. The team begin their walk to the Xen Portal. /End ID.]

I am Bigender, Genderfluid, genderqueer, agender, and xenogender- the best way to explain my gender would be fluffy and soft, but sometimes more punk! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

I am disabled! I have Cerebral Palsy and chronic pain. I also self-ID as autistic! I also have body dysmorphia.

I have a few different trans-ids. I plan on making another rentry to explain my reasonings behind my trans-ids. Of course I’m transgender, but I’m also transyandere, transstalker, transMDD, transOLD, transSeverity, transTruama and more!

Ìf you could pick one story of yours who's characters you could meet and talk to who would you pick (like phill In a fluffy fic would be a sweet neighbour but a dark phill would be like you sure you need your kidneys mate)

Personally I'm fine with any as long as dark sbi arnt asking me how much I drink and if my kidney is weak lol

I have almost 20 fics so bear with me lmao. We're gonna take a real long walk on this one. Also I'm only counting ones I've posted because otherwise that feels like cheating.

Long rambles below cut!

I think I'd have the best chance of survival with one of my STH inspired fics but that feels like cheating too. STH Techno can do no wrong and I'll always stand by that.

Honestly this with most my fics would probably be hell lmao. While the DSBI I write aren't usually outright aggressive they're more than a little loopy and would just find a reason to off me probably.

AFN and any Four Seasons fic are immediately off the list. Afn Techno might currently be a sweet little angel but I wouldnt wanna meet him after he's finished his change. AFN Phil goes without saying.

Even if I was meeting Techno at the current point in the story I don't think I'd survive since Phil really wouldn't take well to a random stranger talking to his kid. There's also Kristin but she is absolutely horrifying to meet so thats another no from me.

Four seasons would imply the existence of fae and I think I'd disintegrate in an environment like that. Also four seasons Phil is terrible and just sadistic. Believe it or not but he's playing nice with neo trio in those fics. I wouldn't want the chance to ever meet him.

Seeing as I'm working on a fic where ILMG Techno kills a neighbour for being irritating I don't think I'd ever wanna meet him. ILMG Phil and Wil could be fine but they're not fleshed out enough for me to really know.

I think I'd have an alright time in BFOB though. Its just the DSMP modified so I could have a passive chat with Tommy or Phil and that could be alright. Same goes of IDFR, thats a more accurate version of the DSMP and I don't think that'd be too terrible.

ODDO Phil could be nice to meet as well. He was just a sweet, lonely guy that lived by the seaside. He probably had a pretty fun life before that since I like to think he travelled. If this is post-horsing though then I'd have to pass.

ELTY, SGFA and EST are all royalty AU's so I'd have to pass on them as well. While Wil is skrunkly in them, his family is very much not and they totally abuse their power in their respective universes.

That all leaves me with DELG, Henchman and Harbingers to sift through.

Don't Ever Let Go could be fine. Its a superhero AU and talking to Kristin or Phil wouldn't result in immediate death. I brush over it in MBMB but Phil is passively friendly to everyone and people like him pretty decently.

Kristin does go off on a lot of 'work trips' but after acquiring twinsduo that cuts down. She's a villainness but whether its justified or not, I haven't decided yet. Its not as much fun when the narrative is 'the heros are the real bad guys'.

Its more interesting for me when the villains are villains and do bad, unjustifiable things. Makes more complex characters too, at least in my opinion. Either way I think she could be fun to meet but given the fact that they put up the facade of 'very normal boring family' I don't think it'd go anywhere too fun.

Henchman is probably off the table tbh. Techno would instantly try and shank me for money, Wilbur is a rich little asshole and I'd just wanna fight him. Phil could be ok but since his power is 'death upon touch' I'd be playing with fire.

Sure, he's more of a crime boss than steryotypical villain, but I think meeting him would just make him think I'm a cop or something. I don't think he'd believe the 'I'm actually your creator' story.

Harbingers could be fine as well. Phil is just an insane man and neo trio are more of a passive thing than an active threat. I haven't fully fleshed out their personalities yet (besides Phil and Kristin) but I don't think they'd instantly try and murder me.

They're kinda like a physical manifestation of poison, staying around them will just slowly kill you. I haven't worked out exactly how it works but meeting them would have me walking away with various health problems probbaly.

Phil could be fun though. But he is completely delusional and will become violent if you try break what he sees as his reality. That man belongs in a ward but instead he's been adopted back by his eldritch family.

I think in the end I'd go with ODDO Phil since he's a pretty chill dude. Even in the sequel I'm working on, he's much calmer than neo trio when it comes to murder. If it's pre transformation then he'd just share little stories with me and bake me some lamb based dish.

Post transformation would be less friendly but not outright hostile, he'd be more confused about how I knew so much about him than anything. He'd probably just brush it off as some kind of magic stuff though since he's cool like that.
