Choker MV Analysis

Scales

Throughout the video there were multiple instances of pictures of scales in the background. At first it just looked like a blurry mess to me, but the shot with the scales and the sai Ψ symbol made it clear that they are supposed to be scales.

Also, the sticker on the 3rd pick seems to have a dragon-like face drawn on it.

Orange

I've talked about what Orange can mean here. The notable thing again is that the main pigment is called "Safety Orange Blaze Orange."

"Orange is associated with meanings of joy, warmth, heat, sunshine, enthusiasm, creativity, success, encouragement, change, determination, health, stimulation, happiness, fun, enjoyment, balance, sexuality, freedom, expression, and fascination."

Then of course you have Tyler wearing an orange beanie. If not orange, it does look suspiciously like orange with the lighting and stuff, specifically the contrast with the background.

Tyler has also worn an orange beanie in the past which looks to almost be the same shade.

Dema References

Near the beginning, you have this shot of dice, which the facing numbers add up to nine. It's notable given the nine bishops.

Then of course you have the Good Day Dema mug shown on the counter. Which this was first shown on the initial SaI promos.

Also, now that orange may have significance to the story, its interesting that the logo is also in orange.

Song References

Of course you've also got your references to other songs. The more notable of course is Ned from the Chlorine MV, to which Ned has not made an appearance as of yet. They seem to be pointing that out, though it can also be a part of whatever narrative they're making.

Though maybe Ned is hidden or will be hidden somewhere in one of the MVs? Maybe in the background? Sort of like a "Where's Waldo" situation would be funny.

Then Tyler being dragged near the end of the MV reminded me of how he was being dragged around in the end of the Jumpsuit and Levitate MV. Maybe it's just a Dema thing.

Extra/Random Detail

So, with Shy Away, they stated that the reason their masks were burnt and torn were because Trash burnt them. For some reason though, I remembered that while watching this, specifically at the end when Josh essentially murders (what would you even call it-) Tyler. Especially since Trash was a big focus in this MV.

So, my thoughts are that Josh is supposed to be like sort of like manifestation of Trash's power, if that makes any sense. Creativity and imagination is a big theme in this album, that Trash himself is an example of that.

"...color is supposed to represent the unleashing of imagination. You know, I have this theory that even if you're confined to one small room, if you were to focus on one singular detail of that room that detail can then come to life. I actually have this little dragon like totem figurine that I've been staring at and my theory is that if I can get to a place where I am looking at him and a I can create something and all of a sudden he can grow and then actually fly around the room and where I am I am suddenly transported to a completely different place. It really is the power of creativity, the power of imagination and ultimately the power of music."

So, it's interesting that with imagination a dragon figurine (or toy) can come to life, and in the MV it's almost the opposite in the way that Tyler becomes a toy/figurine. If we take in the idea that Josh is supposed to be Trash in some way, then it's funny that Tyler essentially gives life to Trash but Trash did the opposite.

And then just Jim. If there's anything to note is that he's wearing a blue bandanna. But he's just here because I mean look at him. Also the small figurine of him is so cute. Also, RIP to Jim.

So, there's these hex codes and numbers displayed on the site:

There's two things to examine. First off, the hex codes. When imputed in, we get the same colors that have been displayed on the promos though they look more saturated or maybe this is what they look like without the old "vhs" like filter.

And now we got some of the names of the colors, which the one that seems to be the most interesting choices (imo) are Safety Orange Blaze Orange and Bones.

Safety Orange Blaze Orange

What makes this choice interesting to me is that it is called "safety" orange. They could've chosen any shade of orange like: pumpkin, heat wave, orange peel, or even just dark orange, or something like that. Yet, they chose this particular shade instead and it must be important if they actually had to go and point it out by actually giving us the hex code rather than it just being "orange."

Additionally, if I remember correctly it was speculated that orange was going to be the next era or at the very least that's what a good chunk of people hoped for. So maybe orange will play a significant role.

Bones

This one caught my attention given their presence of bones/skeletons throughout their albums. Mostly referring to how they wear the skeleton hoodies during the live performances of Ode to Sleeep, Morph, etc. Then ofc, the Skeleton Clique.

Regardless, it's interesting to see that the specific shade of gray/white they use is called bones.

Second bit are the numbers, which are when looked at with a number substitution cypher you get:

Josh fixing the leak with yellow tape 👀

Which ofc heavily reminded me of The Hype when Tyler fixes the painting/picture at the end. Which despite the MV for The Hype not explicitly about the Trench storyline, there are a few references in there.

Which we all know by now that yellow tape is used by the Banditos. And not going into color meanings again since I think we're all aware of that. :)

Random thing I found interesting that may or may not be related is the overall setting. In the MV we see a lot of snow and mountains in the background.

Which actually reminded me of the "setting" for Shy Away during the Livestream Experience.

Which again, not sure if it was intentional or not but I find it interesting.

Earlier I said how I wasn't sure if the creature in the video was Trash or not, but I'm back to leaning that it is mostly because there was an emphasis on the yellow eyes and all that. Plus there are a few facial similarities especially in terms of the ears and face structure.

If that's the case then Trash is a very long boy. We may have gotten glipses of him in the distance in Shy Away. Which I guess means the scale difference wasn't a lie then because he is huge.

Then now in the Sat MV we see Trash being a lot closer to the boys rather than just being off in the distance. And to put it bluntly, he's very very long. Even taking these screenshots together to put it together, he's long.

Though the only thing missing is his wings? Unless they're tucked in or something. That's the only thing that has me confused.

Alright quick theory based off what I got. They were still in Dema's control at the beginning of the MV, given the figures with red hoods and the Dema map plastered all over the sub's floor and all that. But Trash the dragon maybe broke them free by sinking the sub?

I opened up spotify on my firestick since ik that the app has a background image when playung music and I wanted to see if tøp updated it yet, and they did.

and i haven't really been paying attention to the newer promos too much since my brain rn is focused on Shy Away, but I noticed that Josh has yellow shoelace. Ofc, I search it up to get a better image

Josh has both yellow and pink shoelaces, that actually at a quick glance they look pink (to me anyways). Tyler also has yellow on his socks. Also, the shadow appears to be Trash's wings!

(Also, is it just me but does Josh appear to be out of it in most of these promos and in the mv at some points?? Probably a part of the narrative but like- huh-)

can we talk about Josh's Bracelet on Choker MV???

Lmao firstly, anon I'm so sorry that I only just saw this even though the Choker MV came out like a month ago

Alright, so for the life of mine I could not get a decent screenshot of Josh's bracelet so big F there

It has a mostly Black and White color theme with his of Blue from what I can see. So, color meaning of Blue probably doesn't have to be stated again, but interest thing to note is that the colors (black, white, blue) reminded me of the lyric video for No Chances and Redecorate.

No Chances especially has more emphasis on black and white:

And Redecorate because those are the only colors present in that lyric video aside from the title and album art:

I don't know if there's any actually connection, but that's all I've got for you here.

One final thought before I dip for awhile:

There's a meter thingy on the page, which I'd assume it will show who is winning as the story progresses maybe. Sort of like a game of tug-of-war.

I had thought that the bottom color was more of a yellow or orange color. So, I raised the brightness to get a better idea of what color it is.

So, it definitely is an orange.

Which if it is a game of tug-of-war, the color choice makes sense. I mentioned the significance of orange in this post. To summarize, the main meanings that make the most sense are: creativity and freedom. In this case, I think it can be narrowed down to freedom.

If it's a tug-of-war, then we have:

Dema (Defeat) vs. tøp (Freedom)

We can probably expect the meter to shift in the upcoming weeks.
