You know. If Crocodad Real. How would Luffy even react if he found out. Like really, how the fuck would he feel about it.

'Cause like how I went over in this post (briefly at the end), we don't even know how Luffy feels about Crocodile as he is right now, so can you imagine how that bombshell would impact things

Like my running theory is that Luffy still hates Crocodile but maybe not quite as much as pre-Impel Down since he kiiinda owes him etc

And Luffy does not seem to give a shit about blood connections, at least not that much. Like don't get me wrong, Luffy's family are the people who were there for him when he was a child, those are the people he cares about and his bio-parents don't really matter. But also, honestly, I think the reason Luffy doesn't give a shit about who his parents are is because he doesn't know them. Luffy cares about people who he knows and likes, and while he doesn't give a shit about Dragon right now, it's arguably because he simply just doesn't know him. If the two actually get to meet and know each other, like if Luffy takes a liking Dragon, he'll probably accept Dragon as his dad and as his family. But on his own terms. It's up to Luffy to decide

And that's why like. How would Luffy react to finding out he has another dad and that one is fucking Crocodile. Because he already hates the man. It would not be happy news for him I'm sure

The other thing is that normally Luffy does not give a flying fuck about people's sad backstories. He didn't care to hear what happened to Nami and her village for example, because what really mattered was that there was a person he cared about who was deeply hurt and in danger and he wanted to help said person. And that's where I'm so torn. Because on one hand, it would be perfectly on-brand for Luffy to not give a shit of Crocodile had a sob story to tell. But also, I could imagine Luffy being so fucking confused over the news that he'd want to hear the truth of like, who what where how why, in detail. So that, you know, he could make his own decision and figure out if he wants to considder Crocodile is other dad or disown him.

Like, both feel like things Luffy would do

So really, would the real deciding factor might be just... the circumstances where Luffy finds out???

God knows, I can not imagine Crocodile himself telling Luffy anything ever. The kid already hates him, he knows it, so he'd probably think it'd be for the best if Luffy never found out

So how else could Luffy find out then?

As far as we know, the only other person who could confirm it would be Dragon himself, and considdering how he probably feels about his ex (see: Alabasta Coup Attempt), I can't imagine him wanting to talk about Crocodile to Luffy in lenght or in a positive light. Like I can't imagine Dragon wanting to tell Luffy at all is the point, not unless he wanted to like apologize to Luffy because it is arguably his fault Luffy and Crocodile fought in Alabasta to near-death to begin with. (Sidenote since we don't know how the break-up happened to begin with, it's totally possible Crocodile could've asked Dragon to never let their kid find out what happened to his "mom")

And now, this is where I'm gonna go completely off the rails, but. As I was wondering if there was any other way Luffy could find out...

S-Croc is made with Crocodile's DNA.

(And actually before I even go into S-Croc, super quick sidenote: If Kuma can extract memories out of people and allow other people to literally see them... Like I can't tell if Kuma's memories got absorbed by Bonney when she looked into them or if Kuma's Memory Bubble is still on Egghead, but if viewing the memories isn't the same as having them inserted into a vessel permanently... Like if Kuma isn't turbo-dead, could there be a scenario where we have Kuma (or S-Bear) yeet out Croc's memories and have Luffy just look into them? Because god knows Crocodile might just refuse to speak about it and that could be the only way to get The Whole Truth if Dragon doesn't want to talk about it either?) (Of course, Crocodile would understand just How Persistent Luffy is so if Luffy just kept on annoying him about it, Crocodile could maybe give up eventually because he knows he can't get Luffy to piss off until he spills the beans)

So currently the Strawhat's plan is for them to go and escort the Vegapunks to Elbaf (if nothing goes funny after the flashback is over, which remains to be seen)

2. There is the mystery of what sex S-Croc is going to be, because there is a possibility that if Crocodile is trans then his Seraphim could be pre-T (though this entirely depends on whether or not Ivankov's HRT changes even the DNA of person. Since it's MAGIC HRT I would prefer it to, not gonna lie, and I would not appreciate any "you may look different but your DNA will tell the truth!" rhetoric in the story but I may be asking too much from Oda)

3. And there's also the mystery of what Devil Fruit ability S-Croc might have, since all the Seraphim have been given Fruit powers, and we know Vegapunk can't replicate Crocodile's Sand Logia.

All things considdered, I think the actual, most likely known ability S-Croc might end up with would be like, Mr 3's wax powers (hilariously), mainly because I could imagine it being flexible enough to work in Crocodile's fighting style, so it'd be the easiest for S-Croc to adapt to (like if you can make anything from wax, then why not sharp blades to fling at people) (Also we know Vegapunk would have access to this power since Mr 3 was in Impel Down, when they also got Daz' powers)

But also I had joked before how it'd be funny if S-Croc was a Crocodile Zoan for no reason. Like it'd be fitting since Crocodile was already the Only Logia of the OG Shichibukai, so making his Seraphim the Only Zoan would be funny as hell (if it's even possible, which we can't say if it will/won't be). Additionally, making him a Crocodile Zoan would be hysterically on-the-nose.

(Sidenote: If there was a crocodile Zoan Fruit, what sub-category do you think it'd fall into? Like would it be Ryu Ryu like all the dinosaur-themed Zoans are, or maybe even a different model of Uo Uo (same as Kaidou)? Since "wani" could be considdered a different type of serpent-dragon, and if Vegapunk was researching how to recreate Kaidou's fruit, it's plausible he might've accidentally recreated some other related-fruit in the process or afterwards?? (Also since Kaidou's Uo Uo is a specific model (Seiryu) it would make sense if there was another Uo Uo model Fruit, and this could be an excelent opportunity to use it))

The thing about Zoans though is that, as it's been brought up once or twice before, Zoan fruits can kind of have a "mind of their own" and influence the user in unexpected ways.

And as all we Crocodad Truthers know.

Crocodiles are protective of their babies.

ALSO: The Seraphim do have enough personal will-power that they may (slightly) disobey orders they've been given. Case-and-point, S-Snake undoing the Petrification on the Strawhats after Luffy asked her to, since S-Snake is fond of Luffy just like Hancock is

Sidenote, it was kind of made a point how Vegapunk considdered his artificial replica of Kaidou's dragon fruit a compete failure simply because instead of a blue dragon, the user would turn into a pink one instead. So if Vegapunk tried to make a Seraphim of Crocodile, knowing full-well he couldn't even give the Seraphim the same ability as the OG, and then the Seraphim turns out the wrong sex for no reason?? I could see him being confused as hell and considder S-Croc "a failed Seraphim"

So really, all we'd really need to happen would be for the Strawhats to somehow encounter the remaining three Seraphim while escorting the Vegapunks to Elbaf. Mind you, IDK how that could even happen since as far as we know they've been deployed the Emptee Bluffs

And then just have S-Croc either disobey orders to hunt Luffy or even even have him be protective of Luffy (following that Zoan Instinct, one even he can't explain, it's just Instinct). Have Sanji be like "hey why the fuck is this one a girl, isn't it supposed to be Crocodile", followed by Vegapunk explaining this Seraphim was a failure for reasons even he can't understand

Then have Jinbei remember the conversation Crocodile and Ivankov had at Impel Down (suspicious considdering Ivankov's abilities and this "failed Seraphim"), and maybe if Crocodile had any involvement with the Revolutionaries and Robin was suspicious of him she could even bring that up

Along with any other minor details that may be bothering the crew about the whole deal

And so if the Strawhats and Vegapunk just put all their braincells together and rubbed them real hard, they could maybe come to a hypothesis as to why S-Croc is a "failure" and protective of Luffy, and maybe even a potential explanation as to why The Real Crocodile was protective of Luffy in Marineford for no fucking reason

And maybe, just maybe, Vegapunk could confirm that suspicion with a DNA test. All he needs to do is check Luffy's and compare it to Crocodile's.

Not sure Luffy would want to do the DNA test, like knowing Luffy he might prefer to just ask Crocodile in person if they ever ran to each other again

But boy, if he somehow did agree to a DNA test, and there was a match... oh boy

But again. This entire scenario is BEYOND off-the-rails. Technically plausible! But honestly if Luffy is ever gonna find out (assuming Crocodad Real) then it's gonna be from Dragon

honestly, as a lesbian, the "this all-female religious group has taken a solemn vow of chastity, pledging to remain virgins all their lives... so they get around it by having sex with each other 😜" trope is a red flag when written by literally anyone other than a lesbian

trying to articulate why the ''I bet he just made up nonsense'' response to that 'so said legolas' passage makes me so sad. I think it's to do with a) the fact that dwarvish history & culture are already so badly understood & misrepresented in elvish accounts, b) that dwarves have pretty much entirely given up telling anything about themselves to outsiders because of how it's consistently so twisted away from them, and c) the weight that tolkien places on memory & living on in memory & the importance of keeping people's memory. so like with all that in mind, that legolas and gimli were friends for so long, and that they were so close to each other and trusted each other so much that gimli was willing to tell him these dwarvish stories and histories and trust him to keep them and pass them on and remember them (& him) long after he's died is a really meaningful thing, it's such a strong mark of love on his part. so implying that legolas would deliberately made up nonsense as a joke knowing that that misrepresentation would then be how gimli & the dwarves are remembered forever is just :(

to me, the question of whether hera would want a body is first and foremost a question of autonomy and ability. she has an internal self-image, i think it's meaningful that the most pivotal moments in her character arc take place in spaces where she can be perceived the way she perceives herself and interact with others in a (relatively) equal and physical capacity, and that's worth considering. but i don't think it's about how she looks, or even who she is - and i think she's the same person either way; she's equally human without a body, and having a body wouldn't make her lived experience as an AI magically disappear - so much as it's about how she would want to live.

like most things with hera, i'm looking at this through a dual lens of disability and transness, both perspectives from which the body - and particularly disconnect from the body - is a concern. the body as the mechanism by which she's able to interact with the world; understanding her physical isolation as a product of her disability, the body as a disability aid. the body as it relates to disability, in constant negotiation. the body as an expression of medical transition, of self-determination, of choice. as a statement of how she wants to be seen, how she wants to navigate the world, and at the same time reckoning with the inevitable gap between an idealized self-image and a lived reality, especially after a long time spent believing that self-image could never be visible to anyone else.

it's critical to me that it should never imply hera's disability is 'fixed' by having a body, only that it enables her to interact with the world in ways she otherwise couldn't. her fears about returning to earth are about safety and ability; the form she exists in dictates the life she's allowed to lead and has allowed people to invade her privacy and make choices for her. dysphoria and disability both contribute to disembodiment - in an increasingly digitized world, the type of alienation that feels like your life can only exist in a virtual space... maybe there's something about the concept of AI embodiment, in particular as it relates to hera, that appeals to me because of what it challenges about what makes a 'real woman.' when it's about perception, about how others see her and how she might observe / be impacted by how she's treated differently, even subconsciously. it's about feeling more present in her life and interfacing with the world. but it's not in itself a becoming; it doesn't change how she's been shaped by her history or who she is as a person.

i think it comes back to the 'big picture' as a central antagonistic force in wolf 359, and how - in that context, in this story - it adds a weight to this hypothetical choice. hera is everywhere, and she's never really anywhere. she's got access to more knowledge than most people could imagine, but it's all theoretical or highly situational; she doesn't have the same life experiences as her peers. she has the capacity to understand that 'big picture' better than most people, but whatever greater portion of the universe she understands is nothing next to infinity and meaningless without connection and context. it's interesting to me that hera is one of the most self-focused and introspective people on the show. her loyalties and decisions are absolute, personal, emotionally driven. she's lonely; she always feels physically away from the others. she misremembers herself sitting at the table with the rest of the crew. she imagines what the ocean is like. there's nothing to say that hera having a body is the only solution for that, but i like what it represents, and i honestly believe it'd make her happier than the alternatives. if there's something to a symbolically narrowed focus that allows for a more solid sense of self... that maybe the way to make something of such a big, big universe is to find a tiny portion of it that's yours and hold onto it tight.

#wolf 359 #w359 #hera wolf 359 #idk. processing something. as always i have more to say but it's impossible to communicate all at once #it's a meaningful idea to me and i think there's a LOT more that can be done with it thematically than just. the assumption of normalcy #so much of hera's existence is about feeling trapped and that's only going to get worse on earth and within these two contexts #that's something i really feel for. especially with. mmm.#i don't like the idea that who hera is is tied to the way she exists because it seems to weirdly reinforce her own misconception #that there can never be another life for her.#and all of these things are specific to hera and to the themes of wolf 359 and NOT about AI characters in general #in other stories there are other considerations.#the best argument i can make against it is that she says getting visuals from one place is weird and she doesn't like it. but that's #a totally different situation where it's a further limitation of her ability without a trade off. it's a different consideration i think #when it allows her more freedom. to go somewhere and be completely alone by herself. to feel like she has more control and more privacy #to be able to hug her friends. or feel the rain. it would be one thing if she felt content existing 'differently'#but she... doesn't. canonically she doesn't. and i think that has to be taken into account.#i think you can tell a meaningful and positive story about disability without giving her physical form on earth too #but i think it has to be considered that those are limitations for her and that the way she exists feels isolating to her.#idk. a lot of the suggestions people come up with feel like they're coming from a place of compromise that i don't think is necessary #there are plenty of ways that having a body would be difficult for hera and i guess it's hopeful to me to think #maybe she'd still find it worth it.

standing under a boiling hot shower last night talking to myself about how odd it is that people still think “the duffers wouldn’t do something that deep/complex/intricate and hide so much information because the general audience wouldn’t be able to pick up on it” is a valid argument as if the show wasn’t immediately massively popular to the point that they probably could’ve ignored the general audience this whole time and as long as they had a coherent story it would’ve continued to gain traction. it’s their show, they’re gonna do whatever they want with it and hide as many secrets as they can and they will get away with it. why should they "dumb down" their work when they want to live up to their own standards. i think i'd rather die than only do surface level shit to "appeal to the most people."

#and OBVIOUSLY there's certain things they should listen to their audience about ie. poor story beats. racism. complicit in sending bad msgs #but i'm talking about like their Overall Plot like The Story They Want To Tell and the World They Want To Showcase #at a certain point it stops being meaningful art if you start trying to cast the widest net and then it becomes hollow nothingness #and yes OBVIOUSLY they have to pay attention to the (arguably) largest demographic of their audience to a degree #but like. theyre also still gonna make it Their Show #and im not saying this as someone who catches all the secrets. im a fucking dumbass #im saying this as someone who just mindlessly watched it until s4 came out and i started thinking #'hm something is weird about this 001 guy' and then saw other people being way smarter than me picking out details #i say things #stranger things

i really like the scarab but im kind of let down that His Character was never. like. relevant. like his Personality And Motivations had no role in the story. i was expecting the potential parallels that could b drawn between him and the main cast to be Utilized As Some Kind Of Narrative Device, or… anything. but it feels like in the end the only way he contributed to the story was giving the gang a threat to run away from, which in theory is perfectly fine, twas a necessary plot device, but why spend so much time on his character then. you could have replaced him with a lamp that has no personality or motivations and just shoots deadly lasers at simon and it wouldn’t have like. changed the story at all i think

#basically all the simon&betty stuff in the last 2 eps makes me Mad #and all the stuff Not related to them. the f&c stuff #is. ffffffffffffffffine. its. Fine. its……………………. fine #its not. frustratingly out of character and telling a completely disconnected story. so thats something #but i feel like they did not. I was just going and watching the real + character interviews for Rie and Junji because I remembered that subs were up now (oops this took me a minute).

And now Rie's answer as himself to what he thinks of "business gay performance" is giving me feelings. Per the official translation in the subs (from 1:20-1:36), he says:

"I'm all for it. I think... in a way... it's just a misconception Koreans have. Personally... it hurts when I think about it. I hope people will think of it as just another culture or type of content."

I am so impressed with this answer. It starts out by really affirming that yes, he's here for the queer art, but it also delves into the fact that it's not just business. Rie is like this so often when he talks about their concept from libidO forward, and I'm really especially proud of this response from him.

He paused a lot as he was saying it, and it does make me think that yeah, this is really personal to him, like he touches on that. It's a short response, but it carries a lot of weight and importance. Its definitely my favorite response that any of them have given.

Junji responding to the same question at 4:15-4:18 of the video amused me also though (per the official translation):

"I like it. It's cool you know." Followed by the caption "[I, Junji Kim, only do cool things]"

It's not as in depth a response, but it's still really affirming of his stance on their concepts.

Elena of Avalor is genuinely such a good show.

#Personal #You know I've never forgotten about this show for a single day even after it ended #Just thinking about it makes me happy already but I recently listened to all the songs again #and directly interacting with the show and rewatching the clips from it hits so much different #I really need to do a full rewatch someday I haven't watched the show in ages #Just episodes I love most or something random for the content making purposes which is certainly not the same as watching for pure enjoymen #I probably realized it long ago but I'm currently in the 'analyzing my life' state of mind #and this show means so much to me on a personal level too because it brings up so many important topics to me as a person #And it just does it so well it's clear to see that creators actually cared about the story they wanted to tell #And really EoA also has absolutely fascinating and unique worldbuilding #and in the combination of important not trivial messages and dynamic layered characters this is just such a solid show #It really deserved to get more recognition #I wouldn't even say attention because lots of attention may cause more harm than good #It's actually more about recognition and acknowledgement #Really I'm not even talking about what a huge impact being a part of the fandom has had on my life #it's worth the whole separate post #I'm just talking about the show itself and how great and meaningful it is #Anyway EoA warms my heart and I'm so happy I encountered this show

I'm like also really mad that they legit killed Chess and Horn off screen, that is just so disrespectful to their characters. Everything in this chapter felt disrespectful to the Tiddy Squad.

Hey guys, i found out too late but webtoon is doing an event for their 9th anniversary where u can unlock 9 episodes for daily pass series instead of 1 (resets at 7pm, so if u unlock 9 right now u can unlock 9 more at 7pm today)... but it's ONLY for the month of july (i found so late im sorry😭😭) so there's like 3 days left...

but I rly recommend checking these series out and unlocking as many daily pass eps as u can before july ends!!!

The Makeup Remover: This is like (one of) my fav webtoons EVER... u have to read it its got everything... Funny, cute art style, insightful + refreshing writing + social commentary that hits hard... A riveting story that reminds me of sports anime tournaments... AMAZING pacing and paneling/visual storytelling... extremely compelling well rounded characters, especially FEMALE CHARACTERS!!!, who have such incredible character dev, I cried so much bc I love them so much and it just hits so hard.... even the romance is well written even tho it's not the focus (unlike what the webtoon categorization says)... JUST READ IT PLS ITS MY FAV... It stuck w me long after I first finished it... and I'm on my 3rd read now and it hits just as hard as ever, I love it so much TT

When the Day Comes

Rly good slice of life... Even if u don't normally like slice of life genre, I think this is rly worth a read for everyone. I love the author's subtle, realistic writing style and pacing, they make even the smallest moments have impact and u can tangibly feel how each chara is feeling... It's a real treat to read and even if nothing else, the art and art style is GORGEOUS!!! Soso good and insp. But the writing is also really good, so it's a real gem... Also there's a canon lesbian chara who's rly well written and I love her deeply...

TT #few webtoons on the platform have rly impacted me and these 2 two of them...#TMR is 1 of those stories that i rly consider life changing...#like mp100 #at least it is to me...#like i cant stop thinking abt it #and i think it helped me (start to) unlearn some harmful thinking and start to heal #in terms of how i see myself/how i subconsiously my self worth to looks/my views on makeup #like if i had to compare it to another makeup webtoon: true beauty #there's no comparison...#true beauty rly had nothing meaningful to say until the very end and without realizing it i gained sm unconscious insecurities from it #whereas TMR... rly felt like it was healing me after reading true beauty... and unlearning that stuff lmao
