Outside of basic stuff like how you interact w patrons, i think a big thing that seperates a good librarian from a Book Culture™ person is how you feel about weeding

#every lib i know when they get to weed their lib is like ‘yeah i dont wanna brag but i just weeded 2.5 shelves of space’ #i just v enthusiastically sliced some decomissioned out of date 2007 rcl textbooks from their spines #to seperate the trash bits from the recylcable bits #whereas whenever a lib weeds randos who think dogearing a book is a crime get mad #not understanding that you weed books that are out of date in bad shape or not circulating etc (always remember MUSTY) #to make room for replacements up dates or new books ppl will read #also im saying ‘books’ but this goes for all lending materials #personal #lizbrarian
