the thing i feel people don't really take enough into account when it comes to arthur's supposed obliviousness regarding merlin's magic is that merlin is the absolute opposite of what arthur has been raised to believe sorcerers to be. merlin is clumsy and kind and - in the earlier seasons - like walking sunshine. he so obviously has negative desire for actual power, nor any respect for it, and while arthur absolutely knows that merlin isn't stupid, he 100% is an idiot.
and it's not stupid or ignorant on his part! people just do this, whenever they are taught someone who does or believes a certain thing is inherently evil! it's never the friendly guy next door who snacks half of your breakfast and then just grins when you complain, obviously not! arthur trusts merlin even early on, and beyond belief later on. of course merlin can basically do magic in front of him, because there is no part of arthur that actually thinks someone like merlin could have magic. you don't see what you're 100% convinced can't be there. if he ever got there, his already brittle construct of indoctrination and supposed repeated confirmation of said construct would crumble immediately! as it does in dotd after like, a day. it only doesn't in regards to morgana because as far as arthur is concerned, the moment she started using magic she became the cold and ruthless enemy he still couldn't bring himself to actually pursue! like.
it's very easy to think it's startingly oblivious, but one thing i really wish people would keep in mind a little more is that the viewer watches from a different point of view, and operates with a whole other set of information. that arthur operates under a certain worldview in an environment that does not teach to question it at all, and gives little opportunity to do so. it's actually wild arthur questions uther's teachings as often as he does, and considering that every time he does, they, to his knowledge, just get confirmed again (nimueh, morgause, morgana, uther's death, and so on and so forth), it's even wilder that he keeps doing it

Is that canon!?! Was Machete just really naive/didn't really understand the implications of his relationship to Vasco? Did his mentor ever find out about them or discuss such things with him? I assume bc he didn't have parents, he kinda didn't get educated on sex or anything. Was it a big shock to realize he was "sinning"?

Wish I could get my brain to think properly again. I've been having a terrible time organizing tasks and following through with them.
It's like, okay, for those of us who aren't talented and practiced artists, you ever just envision some piece in exquisite detail, but actually rendering never works out right? Like you can visualize it and understand the steps that you would take to translate that into reality, but actually being able to do that is not possible at your current skill level? And like, it's always a little confusing because you know what it should look like and you think you understand how to get there, but clearly you don't?
That's just me with every task right now.

Why wouldn't Terpsichore work with Apollon isn't it pretty much stated that he's beloved to all Muses? I don't remember him being a dick to any of them and he seems kinda humble witht hem. Like when he calls himself the follower of the Muses, when everyone else calls him the leader of Muses.
But what kind of dynamic do you think Ares and Terpsichore will have? I imagine Ares has a volatile personality and Terpsichore is all about discipline and order. Even without Aphrodite screwing them over, I feel like they wouldn't last long together.
I just don’t like Apollo lol
He’s too much like Zeus in the “lovers” department, if you know what I mean. Ares x Terpsichore is more of a vibes ship than anything, I don’t really expect them to be endgame, I imagine Terpsichore has a spunky personality like the one in Down to Earth 1947.

Rw discourse is everyone getting into fistfights over dubious content and how devs choose to advertise their own game (people don't like seeing devs have fun)
As for fp discourse it's really just making him an evil asshole (like pk) and some issues wirh over sexualization and infantilization.
Ah so you mean normal literary-inept fandom bullshit from people who have the reading skills of a third grader and the emotional strength to match, I see. Yeah I'm not really surprised by that lmfao thats every fandom that I'm in my dude

You know it's a good spaceship game when it offers, as a somewhat-situational method of getting the Khorne-blessed battleship off your convoy, the option of ramming it with both your heavy cruisers and pushing it into the nearby asteroid field. Making it take much more damage, since it's traversing the astroids sideways and also being constantly rammed, than your cruisers which are going bow-first! It eventually blew up, which admittedly did leave my cruisers in the middle of the aforementioned asteroid field, but nothing a quick micro warp jump couldn't fix.

How does GRRM describe childbirth in the book????
Oh, it's not that he actually describes it in any particular detail, but you can tell he did zero research because he clearly has no concept of the details that go with it, like, say, the concept of postpartum bleeding, how healing afterwards works, the risk of infection...
The idea that Dany would even contemplate sex with Drogo within days of giving birth (instead of uncomfortably adjusting her matress-sized pads - let's not even mention potential birth injuries which are very common) would NEVER occur to someone familiar with the subject. Same with Gilly sitting a horse within hours of childbirth and no mention of her huge travel bag with necessary supplies for herself and a newborn on the road.
It's ridiculous to the point of utter hilarity.

Seeing as I just got my diagnosis of level 1 autism (what used to be called “Asperger’s”) coincidentally at the same time that my partner and I started watching NBC’s Hannibal series, I’ve been having a couple thoughts about neurotypical vs. neurodivergent experiences regarding “toggling” different emotional responses. Motivation, empathy, fear, etc. are malleable to some, fixed to others; and sometimes, to those who aren’t born with an automatic reflex in one area or another, it’s a little like breathing or blinking on purpose.
Sometimes (and I think this is the autism at play, now that I have a chance to reframe most of my behavioral tendencies in a new light), someone will tell me a joke, or mention something funny—you know how it is, something genuinely funny—enough to “tickle” my internal sense of humor. But sometimes, even though it does, I feel no physiological urge to laugh.
So, when that happens, I kind of just … pull one out manually.
Sure, some people might think it’s disingenuous. One might make the claim that I don’t actually feel any appreciation for the joke, and instead it is societal pressure to placate the other that motivates me to do it. But the thing is … it’s not. It just isn’t. Even if it doesn’t sound like amusement without dialing up my affect, I do find it funny. It’s just that sometimes a wire in my brain doesn’t quite connect, and I have to push to make the appropriate Human Sounds in order to indicate that I just experienced humor.
The sensation is there, but the action is mindful. Even if I slip up or forget or aren’t diligent enough with how it sounds, I know for a fact that I did find the joke funny, even if the teller thinks I’m only politely going along with it. From what I understand about identifying emotions, it would seem that there is no difference between a choice and a reflex.
This is one example. There are many others, and they all relate to different experiences and emotional deficits. Fake laugh? Ehhh. Intentional laugh? Oh, definitely.
And I think sometimes, for certain individuals, loving is a bit like that, too.

absolutely wild how the entire concept of Romance got chick-coded when men are the biggest saps who ever lived. would women have invented Courtly Love? well. i mean, they Did Somewhat, I gather. (were involved in the creation and popularisation of the canon of pseudo-historical stories that made it a Thing via pretending that men in the past had invented it) but some men very much did go out and Do That.
also, i have met them (men that is)

Back at the hospital. It seems the infection is getting worse and the radiologist had read my CT scans sloppily and there’s free fluid in my abdomen and they don’t know why. They’re doing more tests to find out if my previous doctor misdiagnosed me because of the vague description of the scans

You simply do not get to complain about someone thinking you were attracted after you put a finger in their mouth.
Did you also ask them "oh wait, how big are your hands? Let's hold them up to compare?"
You get to be frustrated, but this is on you.
the context is we drunk af and im poking the hell out of em
