MLB writer's math be like...

ML writer's math is calling Chloe stans r*pist defenders on Twitter for defending Chloe while being silent about the fact that there are some extreme Felix stans who defend Felix's harassment towards LB

ML writer's math is saying Audrey's abuse doesn't excuse Chloe's horrid actions but proceeds to say Felix did nothing wrong and that his actions SHOULD be excused because his dad abused him, therefore making everything Colt's fault

ML writer's math is saying Lukloe is a toxic ship because it adopts the whole good boy fixing the bad girl trope which they say is unhealthy because Luka shouldn't carry the burden of being Chloe's therapist but proceed to make Feligami canon despite it being the exact same concept but reversed. Felix before Kagami was an anti-hero but after they got together, he is redeemed implying Kagami "fixed him"

ML writer's Math is condemning Colt Fathom for abusing and controlling his son and telling us to feel bad for Felix but when Audrey does the same thing to Chloe in Revolution and I repeat "I'm going to take control of your life again" she isn't held accountable as well and this abusive behaviour is treated as punishment and we shouldn't be feeling bad for her. (Disclaimer: NOT defending Colt because both are awful parents and both are terrible but there is a double standard going on. Felix and Chloe both deserve better parents)

ML writer's Math is calling out Felix's father for the abusive scum he is and recognising him as an abuser but refusing to give similar treatment to Gabriel and Andre who despite not being as bad as Colt when it comes to parenting are still rubbish parents. Why is Colt one of the only parents in the show to be held accountable?

ML writer's math (mainly TA) is being quick to slander some toxic Chloe/Lila stans for their problematic behaviour but when some toxic Maribug/Adrichat/Adrienette have also shown signs of toxic behaviour (e.g what happened to the Lila girl) Thomas Astruc stayed Silent on the matter. Surely a serious matter such as taking one's life should've been addressed by him since he sees himself as an activist and good person on Twitter. He should've known about it since the news of the Lila fan was common knowledge among the fanbase (even Cyrus the Great made a video about this)

Off the top of my head, I suppose it'd be...

#3: When he claimed the idea of opposites attracting was a "toxic fantasy" while dismissing Lukloe... even though opposites attracting is one of the biggest appealing factors to the Love Square.

#2: When he went on a tirade about how the Miraculous Ladybug show gives you what you need compared to the movie, which only gives you what you want.

#1: When he somehow jumped to the conclusion that people (specifically Korean fans) who questioned him about the use of the Rising Sun flag in an episode thought he was a Nazi.

I support any Luka ships since I love him so much! The fact that people like Luka makes me happy and I want to support that and I hope to see more Luka content!

But when it comes to my personal preferences, when I really like something I tend to stick with it and the ships I actively search for are these three:

My absolute favourite is Lukloe and Lukanette! I also really really love what Liluka brings to the table (my biggest guilty ship). So these three are my top tier, and what you will most likely see me make content for 💙

I have recently seen the appeal with Lukadrien and think it's cute but I think I prefer Feluka over it!

I'm neutral with Lukagami (if you have a good fic recommendation I'm likely to check it out but won't search for it).

I tried looking up Lukzoe at one point but didn't find anything so I'm not sure. I don't think I'll be a huge fan but I could be wrong! Currently I have too little to form an opinion of it.

The idea of Bunnix-Viperion sounds appealing to me, the two time-based heroes! But I'm not sure if I ship it or just like the platonic dynamic.

As somebody who's seen lukloe content, your hunch is correct. Most fans (not every one) have an expectation of Luka to be the one who makes Chloe see the wrong of her actions. He's basically a glorified therapist and babysitter for her. Chloe too is not like her canon self. Most of the time she's a good person with a harsh exterior.

But the worse part is when they trash on Marinette and Adrien. Some Lukloe fics have Marinette be a terrible girlfriend to Luka and Chloe acts like a rescuer.

Well, that's just stupid. And slightly racist.

Gotta protect the white boy from the big bad Chinese girl and have him save the white bully with his goodness. Give me a break!

"Good person with a harsh exterior" So fanon Chloe is just a less interesting, white washed Kagami. Wonderful. 🙄

Sorry if it's a pairing you like anon, but it's really not my cup of tea.

I am going to divide the two kind of ship to clear things up:

Canon Lukloe: CAN YOU PLEASE NOT. Why would you do that to poor Luka?! It's not his job to "redeem" Chloé, bear with her bratiness and selfishness because he can hear "some pretty melody beneath the cacophony and sour notes in her heart". Chloé had many opportunities to change, many hands reaching out for her and she spat on all of them. The only thing canon Chloé needs is to face the consequences of her actions, let her taste some mud and hit rock bottom. She might question herself after that and really change at her own pace, or not. I don't care.

Fanon Lukloe: whatever works, I guess? Luka is quite a blank slate character.🤷‍♀️ Some fans might have very good takes, stories or art about them, good for them, but I am not looking into it. In my opinion, even a redeemed and turned good Chloé isn't compatible with Luka - again, it's my opinion! If you like the concept of them working, make it work and have fun doing so! It's just that I feel like Luka might be too overwhelmed with someone like Chloé, and that he needs someone who he can lean to, who can be his confident, not a challenge. And personnally, I see Chloé as a lesbian so any Chloé/boy pairing is kinda meh for me 😅

Lukloe would be the straight version of Chlobrina. Chloé, who loves to take, finds herself a partner who loves to give and then she never has to learn anything or improve on herself to make her interpersonal relationships healthier. The only thing different is that Luka probably wouldn't let Chloé actually mistreat him the way she does Sabrina but, even so, he still wouldn't ask her to do better or take him into consideration.

Maybe, maybe, you could make the argument that having at least somebody's unconditional love would give Chloé the support she'd need to carry through an actual redemption arc, but that willingness to go through such a thing wouldn't come from this relationship. Luka is willing to settle as long as he can feel needed and so he wouldn't spur Chloé to work through her problems even if he'd support her if she chose to do so on her own. But, with Luka being so incredibly accomodating regardless, Chloé would have no incentive to change her ways.

I've said it before on this blog that I like relationships that have stories or potential for stories. I like parallels, story arcs and themes. Lukloe has none of that. It has stagnancy.

Lukloe is weird like they just. Make Chloe into an entirely different person to make it work? Which is admittedly what they're apparently doing with Felix when he gets together with Kagami so. Again. Pot calling the kettle black

yeah but the difference to me is that felix and kagami always had similarities, it's only that they rushed his redemption to make it work but again considering kagami's arc in S5 it's not too far off . whereas chloe stans shamelessly build a completely separate character in their heads and heavily tone down every aspect of her to make her palatable to luka and every other character.

and it's not a necessarily bad thing to humanize her but feligami is based on them being soulmates and star-crossed lovers, whereas luk/loe is opposites attract except it's like. bossy mean girl vs dude who is okay with being treated like a doormat . the way their characters r in canon it only enables the WORST of them and as such i can only see it working with ridiculously fanonized versions that aren't even recognizable anymore. like it's real bold to demonize feligami for how it comes off on a surface level only to be a die-hard fan of a ship that's mainly fueled by the vague tropes those two characters represent. you don't get to make the call on canon felix being ooc when you reject every part of chloe outside of the iteration of her from like 5 episodes max 😭

1. My fav fic of yours is Lie for a Lie! It’s a classic and one of the first things I read of yours so it’s what made me a Boogum fan and led to us being friends :) so it will always have a special place in my heart

2. Fav chapter in fav fic—oooh hmm I love the fashion shoot chapter 👀 also the chapter where they go on a date and without thinking he wipes the ice cream off her face and eats it DHSJJSKS

3. Best character you’ve written—I will say adrien bc he’s my favorite and you write him spectacularly. But also Louis and floria!!!!!!! You turned silly background characters into such real and lovable people<3

4. Best ship you’ve written—gonna be basic and say love square bc your LS is always Superior:) but also I really enjoy the lukloe you’ve done!! and shoutout to rednana😌

5. Fic I haven’t read yet but want to—anything you have written that I haven’t read yet!!! HMC AU comes to mind 😅 also your atla stuff

6. Something I remember vividly from one of your fics—there’s the part in heroes and lullabies where adrien goes by master fu’s old house and it’s empty now and you have this whole metaphor about an empty seashell and it was just so beautifully written and expressed the ache of Adrien’s loss so well!! that has always stuck with me.

7. What made me the most emotional after reading—the ending of written in the stars was SO beautiful and full and emotional. The entirety of heroes and lullabies omg 😭😭 Another one that really got me was the roses still bloom 🥺🥺🥺 but if “emotional” can mean just like happy then little kitty on the roof in his ladybug boxers made me smile SO much, it’s so freaking cute dhdndm also the chapter of two idiots with the underwear….omg I laughed SO hard

8. What I like most abt your writing—I’ve told you this a bunch of times lol but i deeply admire the Balance you achieve with your writing. You have such a masterful simplicity that makes it so easily readable (and RE-readable) and you always know when keep it straightforward and when to lean more into poetic description (which you do so exquisitely and it’s always the perfect amount and hits so hard emotionally without being overwrought). Your sense of pacing is always spot on and also so is your characterization!!!! And your sense of humor aaaaaa I feel like there are few people who are brave enough to be truly Silly and Stupid and you have had me rolling so many times. But then you can also break my heart into a million pieces. and you can also perfectly walk the line between two sides like platonic and romantic or angst and fluff or simple and complicated. Idk it’s just a very expert blend. And also in terms of just technical skill you are the best!!! Clean and easily digestible writing with good spelling, well-structured sentences, reader-friendly paragraph lengths, syntax variety, good overall flow, etc. and all of this combined skill and heart makes your work what I consider some of the best writing out there and makes you one of the writers I enjoy and look up to the most!

12. Fic I’ve reread—lie for a lie I’ve read at least 2 or 3 times. I reread random stuff from the course of love every so often and the ones that I’ve definitely read at least 3 times are the angsty marichat kiss one where he says “you can’t kiss me like that unless you mean it” and the one where she gets jealous that he’s making out with a chocolate-covered strawberry instead of her DHJSKS. I think I’ve probably reread wingman before(?) and roses still bloom and kitty on a roof. definitely boiled potatoes bc it’s short and makes me laugh so much

13. If I’ve ever shared/talked about your fics—this will probably shock you to find out but yes I have. In fact I’m not sure I’ve ever made a rec list that you weren’t on at least once 😂 can’t help it, everything you write is so good and I can always count on you for enjoyable quality content!!!! And we have similar tastes in a lot of ways so it works out very well for you to be a reliable fic dealer for me 😌 thanks Kim botherkupo boogum, I really owe you

🥺🥺😭😭 too many nice things, I’m feeling emotional hfhfhfhfg. This is what I love about fic writing though. I remember when you first started reading my fics and I got all these comments and was like wow this person is so nice, and then i checked out your fics (or was it the other way around? Lmao j don’t even know now), and I was so happy because I’d found a new author to follow. And I had no idea then we’d become such good friends, but that’s the beauty of fandom is you can find lifetime friendships and quality content 😌

(Also I’m Hfhfhfh because I totally forgot about written in the stars)

Maybe one day I will shut up about this, but today isn’t that day.

A community post on YT coincidentally mentioned Lukloe, so obviously there were people in the comments section that were in favour of it. I offered my opinion on it and everything was decent. What I realised though is that people largely ship it because people believe Luka will change Chloe into a better person.

This is a huge no.

People aren’t meant to be therapists in a relationship. They aren’t meant to fix their partner, it’s up to the partner themselves to change and become better people. Chloe deserves to change herself, she deserves to be stronger and mature enough to do so. It’s not up to Luka to be her saviour. How sad that someone else has to do this for her, how sad that Luka has to be resorted to this character.

I imagine this is a similar reason why people ship Liluka.

If Chloe were written better she could be a great character. Her purpose as a character could be a message of independence and pure self-love. She can find happiness without having to rely on someone else for once.

I realise that people who support Lukloe want the best for her. Unfortunately, it strips away her agency, and comes at the expense of Luka’s character in more than one way. Shippers think he’s perfect and that he will look past all her bad qualities, but he isn’t perfect. He has a huge flaw and that is rage. He got angry enough to get akumatised when Bob Roth talked down to Marinette. He can snap. And he may not have patience for a girl like Chloe who has bullied Marinette.

In the end, if you really want the best for Chloe and you want her to grow, it’s not about resorting to some boy to fix her. She needs to do it herself.
