just remembered when i was in ninth grade english class one of my classmates used the phrase “going ham” all the time. didn’t take long before everyone was saying it. and looking back i’m sure i saw a flash of devilish glee in our teacher’s eyes when we started reading to kill a mockingbird

You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view- until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.

Scout: I love this picture of our family. We were so happy.
Dill: Where’s your aunt?
Scout: She hadn’t come to live with us yet. That’s why we were so happy.

drawbridge

Remus was completely focused on his book. Yep. He was thinking about a rape case from the 30s in Alabama. He was thinking of Tom Robinson and discrimination. He was thinking of-
“Fuck,” he gasped, still totally not thinking about Sirius' fingers pulling on the drawstrings of his sweatpants or Sirius' face approximately six inches from his crotch.
"Come on, Moony, let down your drawbridge for me," Sirius murmured, inching his way slowly up Remus' body until the werewolf could see his boyfriend's face underneath his book.
There was a gagging noise from James' bed. "Pads, what did we say about sex talk in the dorm?" Remus was suddenly thankful he had pulled the curtains closed.
The boy in question smirked, a secret little smile for Remus and Remus alone. "Get your mind out of the gutter, Prongs. I meant the drawbridge to his heart," Sirius said, even as he slid a hand under Remus' shirt.
"Pads, I'm trying to-fuck!" he exclaimed as the hand at his pants suddenly pushed forward.
"Whoops,” Sirius grinned. “It slipped."
On the other side of the room, James made an exasperated noise, and then there was the sound of the dorm door opening and closing.
Remus looked down at his boyfriend. "Now look at what you've done."
Sirius bit his bottom lip. "Oh, no." The hand under his shirt rose up to tease at a nipple, and Remus felt all his blood rush to his groin. "However will we cope without him?"
"Fuck," he gasped. “You’re a goddamn menace.”
Sirius brightened and, gently, took the book out of Remus’ hands to set it face down on the dresser. “I knew you’d break eventually.”
