How I stopped my co-workers and I being bullied, by outing that awful woman as a serial sexual assaulter. TW mentions of sexual assault.
I think this is a pro-revenge, if not tell me and I will post it elsewhere!
Also, this will be a long one... I am very verbose, and it spills over into text too!
A long time ago I worked for a fast food place that has a very noticeable “golden” (bright yellow usually) symbol.
The People Involved:
Me: a 17-19 year old male living in a medium sized town in the UK. (I am now old, relatively, damn, how does that happen? :) ) Also a giant toker at the time, had dreadlocks and smoked almost everyday.
Bitchqueen: a hostile, but shockingly beautiful, and thoroughly nasty human woman, approx 19-23 ish during all this nonsense.
TheBigMan: a 2nd assistant manager who I got on really well with from day one. He took no shit from bullshitters, had zero tolerance for Bitchqueen (his usual greeting was something like “Hey Bitchqueen, who are you going to pick on today?”) and if he saw her bullying someone he would just walk in between her and the victim and bend down to stare in her face. She would walk off and pretend nothing had happened. More than once he stated if BQ were a man she would have been beaten senseless by him by now. He hated violence, but she was really awful! Also he was a bit of a unit. As in 250lbs of muscle and a gym obsession long before it was cool! Also a fairly big smoker, we used to get high after work a lot with some of the other employees.
AwesomeManager: my stores 1st assistant manager, who was a wonderful women who helped me as a human a lot in a huge number of ways. Protecting me from Bitchqueen was only part of it.
Senior Area Manager: who I will call SAM, since all the actual Sam's I have know have all been good dudes too! Also a great protector from the BS of BQ.
MonsterBitch: the new store manager and the proximate cause of her own, and BQ's downfall. Also a troll faced harridan who oozed hate and bitterness.
So time to tell the tale of how it panned out.
I had been there a year or so before Bitchqueen was promoted to manager. Until then she was obnoxious but powerless, but somehow, after marrying the store manager she got a promotion (jumping the next two steps up at that) to second assistant manager. Surprising eh?
I had been warned by TheBigMan when I was first hired to never be alone with her as she had a number of young men fired for “groping” her by her Store Manager-BF/Fiancé/Husband (even when the video showed that there was no close contact let alone groping in some of those cases . I was super careful in this regard.
Bitchqueen started playing games with the rota against me and a few others she hated. I think she hated me because I got along with most people, and she always hated sociable and non-bitchy people. Her favourites got the best shifts and the people she hated had our hours cut and shifted about without warning. She would pencil in changes a few minutes before a shift started (I caught her doing it but her store manager husband didn't want to deal with it) and then send home the one who turned up for their (now given away) shift with a warning. She would then call up and scream at the one who was off, but now suddenly on shift, for not arriving when they had no idea the shift was changed. It's sort of genius really, getting two workers Bitchqueen hated in one blow! She did try this crap on me but I just called Awesome Manager and she checked the computer records and sorted it out, she also let Bitchqueen know she was going to be checking the rota daily and approving all changes, so Bitchqueen had to find a new tactic.
I was a pretty hard worker (it made the time pass quicker for me) and was friends with the AwesomeManager (and TheBigMan), who protected me from Bitchqueens bullshit almost all of the time, and would fix things when shit happened while AwesomeManager was off work. I also cultivated a good relationship with with our SAM, and he ended up setting up a special store rescue team to sort out failing (franchise usually) stores in the area, placing me in charge of it as the top trainer of the group (Bitchqueen was maybe 7 months into being a manager at this point). This made me more or less untouchable (as long as I kept my nose clean) and so Bitchqueen went mental. She started on my friends, bullying and abusing them in work, and trying to get them all written up. They told me and I told AwesomeManager, she slapped Bitchqueen down again, metaphorically of course. TheBigMan made some complaints about her treatment of the other staff and she calmed down a little. Until her husband got “promoted” to a different store some distance away. Later SAM admitted this was an attempt to calm the drama at our store... But how wrong it all went!
Our new store manager was a MonsterBitch, but good at hiding it to begin with. After a few weeks AwesomeManager noticed that only young women were getting accepted after interviews, and pointed this out to Me and TheBigMan, and asked us to keep out eyes and ears out for anything dodgy going on. It wasn't long until it became clear what was happening.
I had made pretty good friend with one of the new hires (I admit it, I was interested and she was hot ), I will call her ShyNSweet, she was a lovely but very sheltered young lady from a nearby village, living in a house share in the town we worked in. She went out with “the girls” a group centred on MonsterBitch, Bitchqueen and a couple of MonsterBitch's “friends” on a Friday, and the next day in work was really distracted. We finished at the same time so I offered ShyNSweet a lift (that is I gave her a ride home in my car for our American friends) and she said yes since we lived pretty close together. In the car I asked if she had a fun night (just asking to fill the time, I wasn't digging at this point) and she replied in a very non-committal way. I remembered her saying she had a great time to Bitchqueen earlier during our shift so I asked her if she was OK. She burst into tears and told me that she had been the back of a Taxi with MonsterBitch and one of the “friends” (Bitchqueen was upfront) and MB and the friend had been groping ShyNSweet really hard (she showed me some bruises on her sides and thighs later, she said she had more on her boobs) and telling her she had to go back to their house and “experience real sex”. I was livid! But I tried to be outwardly calm. I told her that they should be punished, and I would support her, and I knew that SAM, AwesomeManager and TheBigMan would all have her back. I recommended we go to the police, but she was afraid she would lose her job. I knew she wouldn't, but couldn't convince her quickly and I didn't want to traumatise her further, so I just said what ever she chose I would support, and to call me if she is ever in a similar situation and I will come get her. She hugged me for ages crying and we went and had a cup of tea in her house. Her flatmate knew something was up and I encouraged ShyNSweet to tell her too. She did and I left after making them more tea.
I had to do something, but I couldn't directly involve ShyNSweet, and although I knew SAM, AwesomeManger and TheBigMan would believe me I had no direct evidence of an assault. So what to do? Well the first thing was to check where I stood legally, and it turns out the UK is a one party consent recording jurisdiction. As long as I am in place with no reasonable expectation of privacy I don't have to inform anyone I am recording audio or video, at least according to the lawyer I asked who is a friend of my step-father. Work counted as no expectation of privacy, so I was good to record everything. Of course back then the smallest video cameras were the size of a small shoe box and really expensive, and I was a burger-chucker, so cash was tight (smoking a lot of weed didn't help there either). But you could get some reasonably cheap audio recording stuff, that with an ok microphone could be hidden in my shirt. So I started a log of Bitchqueen and MonsterBitch's antics in the store, it was nearly 8 months of recordings in total before the fan was struck by faeces. While they didn't direct much at me anymore I was able to capture multi-minute rants from both of those awful harpies on almost every shift for about six months, in one recording I got Bitchqueen ranting at a co-worker for about 20 mins and then me for another 30 mins or so after I redirected her towards me. They would call workers (almost always men, but any woman who had turned them down got some shit thrown their way too), stupid, useless and worthless etc, with lots of fun adult words mixed in. They also got into the habit of threatening everyone they dislike with firing.
I also got a lot of audio from young women about how creepy and sexually inappropriate MonsterBitch, Bitchqueen and their little gang of “lesbian” managers (most of them were or had dated men, so Bi I guess, but horrible humans regardless of their orientations) were to the women who worked for us. I got several direct statements about female co-workers being abused and told to keep quiet by the abuse gang members on various girls nights out, and a few of them referred to bad things happening at MonsterBitch's house when they were too drunk to remember everything. Basically we had a blackmail and rape gang operating in our midst!
The final attack on me came when I was called into work by AwesomeManager and told I was being investigated for smoking weed on shift. While I did smoke a lot of weed at the time I never went to work high (food you get fired for eating without permission and the munchies don't mix), and anyway that day in particular the accusation was dated was one where I hadn't had any for a couple of days or been able to sort any out for a smoke after work either. So I was totally truthful when I was asked about it by AwesomeManager, and she said that because of the bullying she was escalating this to SAM, so she “suspended” me on full pay pending an investigation. The next day SAM called me and asked me to come for a formal interview, as the first part of the information finding process. He also said TheBigMan was on shift and would be happy to be my witness. So I went down and sat in the crew room waiting for SAM with TheBigMan. SAM stuck his head around the door and said “Deny everything to do with weed!” and winked. He stepped out again and then opened the door with a serious face and asked myself and TheBigMan to come through to the back office. We went through a few questions and I answered everything truthfully (pretty sure SAM thought I was smoking that day but gave no fucks about weed) and the interview ended with SAM reinstating me, paying me for the previous day and the interview day and giving me another store to fix for two weeks to get me away from Bitchqueen and the pack of harpies.
When I was back from the failing store, but not working that Monday, I got a call from ShyNSweet. MB and BQ had told her she had to come to their “Girls only” house party that Friday (it was going to be a BBQ and probably a lot of raping drunk girls by hostile lesbians). The rape gang had been telling all the attractive girls to go to the party or “think about finding a new job if you can't be a team player”. (MB, BQ and another horror worked at our store, the other 3 worked at a nearby store)
And that was the straw that broke the proverbial camels back! I had those awful bitches!
I had organised the audio files into groups by person and topic, I had over 10 hours of insults and abuse recorded and I had nearly another 10 hours of staff telling me how they had been abused by BQ, MB and their pack of rapists.
I called SAM and told him I had to speak to him that day, he agreed and we met at a competitors store (I think they have a kingdom of burger chuckers ;) ) at lunchtime where I sat him down in front of my awful (at the time super cutting edge lol) laptop and had him listen to bits of the rape allegations first.
He started shaking with rage after about 30 seconds, stopped it and told me to go to the police.
I then started on the abusing rants messages and he listened to bits of a bunch of them and asked for copies of those files. I had already burned them to CD so I handed them over and went to the police station.
I asked for a woman police officer and had her listen to the abuse allegations. She took a CD copy of those and told me to be quiet while the investigated. I said fine, but that this Friday the rape gang would have a number of under 18's at an alcohol fuelled rape party. She asked for and got the address and details. I passed on the names of all the women who I knew for sure had been attacked in the past too, since the police wanted to contact them to confirm things, the police here never give out witness information so I was safe from retaliation.
The next Thursday I was on a late shift, so I arrived around 15:15 and when I got there the store was shut but the staff were inside. I got let in and told what had happened.
MonsterBitch and Bitchqueen had been on day shifts and were apparently non-stop talking about how great their girls only party would be, how any girl who had a boyfriend would dump him after spending the night with them, and how any women who didn't attend were basically traitors to womankind. After about 6 hours of this, and at around 14:00 6 police officers come into the store and arrest MonsterBitch and BitchQueen on suspicion of sexual assault, blackmail, extortion and assault. They were both removed in handcuffs and SAM was there just after the police to shut them out of the computers and officially suspend them. When I arrived they were just getting set to re-open so we got back to work.
Later I got more info on the case, my best friends older brother was in the police force locally and he kept us updated. MB's rape house was raided, the police found lots of videos of what was clearly assaults on drunk and non-consenting women. They got lots of text message evidence for planning sexual assaults and talking about how to control young female employees to get them to have sex with the rapists. They also had lots of threatening messages to victims to be quiet or face revenge/loss of job etc. All their victims were under 20, with most being 16-18. But the deepest fuck up for them came from this evidence, and I had no idea when I got this all in motion.
MonsterBitch had picked up a young woman from a club a few months earlier. This young lady was up for lesbian sex with MB, BQ and another friend, while a fourth on filmed it. But the young lady was 15 and just looked over 18 with makeup etc. So the rape gang had produced child porn inadvertently.
MB, BQ and all the other managers who were involved were fired after the arrests/charges.
They were all charged with a number of things, but the courts back then were even more lenient to female sexual offenders than they are now, so none of them saw prison. But they were all banned from working with children, or in an environment where children will be present, and the ones who were married/in a relationship were all divorced/broken up inside a year. Because of the UK laws at the time they were also not named publicly.
I know Bitchqueen never really recovered or grew past this, I see her now and again if I visit my mother, and she is still beautiful, but so clearly broken its almost sad.
ShyNSweet was my girlfriend for a year or so a few years later, we parted on good terms as she was off to study overseas.
AwesomeManager went on to be a store manager, and then a Pro Dominatrix, which wasn't a real surprise to me ;) She was/is a fun lady
TheBigMan, went on to run an IT dept in a large company, still a top bloke!
And I ended up in a field I love, being paid actual money to more or less mess about all day, and that is doing my job! :)

Doughnut Friday (AA Stony fanfic)
HEYA. It's Rory here... Welcome to my bad AA Stony one shot with absolutely no plot and boring fluff! Now about the Story. It's basically a random thing I came up with well listing to a song and finished when I was doing my math. So its weird. I've gone back in forth between deleting it completely or deleting parts of it, but I had already done a lot of work on it so I decided not to bother. I'm also running around in it being annoying, just because. Sorry in advance for the whole thing. (This was originally on Quotev) and I suck at spelling, ok?

"Sir..." Jarvis had said this repoachfully more times then Tony could count, and yes, there was some numbers even a super genius couldnt count to. "For the last time Jarvis, I'm fine." Tony groaned, he was not in the mood, "Sir, I don't believe your current lifestyle is considered remotely fine." Tony sighed and turned away from the computer, and looked at the ceiling. Why he looked at the ceiling, he didn't know, Jarvis did not live there or anything, but it was a habit he couldn't break, "Jarvis, you know I'm busy. Don't keep nagging me about this." "Of course Sir." If AI's could sound miffed Jarvis certainly did sound like that just then. Tony, satisfied (if not a bit guilty for being that cross with Jarvis), he would have no more trouble about this, went back to furiously typing at his computer. He was wrong.
Two hours later he heard someone open the door to his lab behind him. Brilliant. He decided not to shout at the person to get out of the lab, because he didn't know if it was Nat, and yelling at Nat was generally not a good idea. He couldn't look behind him because he was right In the middle of soldering an important piece in his suit and he didn't want to mess it up. Judging by the fact that nothing hadn't been broken yet (That crossed out Thor and Hulk), and the person wasn't shouting vine quotes already (That rulled out Rory and Clint), that left three options, Sam, Nat, or... "Jarvis seemed to think I should try to bring you back to the land of the living." ...Cap. He definitely didn't feel bad for being cross with Jarvis now. He finished he soldering and spinned around in his chair to grumpily face Steve, who was obviously trying not to smile,"Jarvis...Why?" "Your demand for me to stop nagging you did not cover requesting another Avenger to take up my battle." Jarvis said so smuggly that Tony seriously thought about donating him to a college, "Jarvis, how long has Tony been in the lab, and also much sleep has Tony been getting the last week?" Tony now really started to regret being cross with Jarvis again, " Jarvis...Don't Tell him, I'll give you more memory? New Wi-Fi?" Tony bribed, but unfortunately it didn't work. "Mr. Stark has been in the lab the last 48 hours, and has gotten a total of 12 hours of sleep this week, and I have to add only eating a bag of chips occasionally when I threaten to turn the power out. This is all despite my attempts to change his routine Sir." Tony decided not to look at Cap, and decided to turn on Jarvis instead, "Jarvis. Why? What did I do to you?" "Sir, I'm only trying to make sure you don't kill yourself working like this. Now, is the Wi-Fi offer still up?" Jarvis said innocently, "No. Deffiantly not." Tony said angerly. Cap cleared his throat, and Tony looked at him with out thinking, which was a mistake. He was glowering at Tony from the other side of the room with his arms crossed, clearly not amused anymore. Oh boy. "Seriously Tony?" Tony nodded mutely, now looking out the window. He made a mental note to never trust Jarvis ever again. He started when Steve grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the chair. "Um, what are you doing?" Tony complained, "Getting you some food then getting to your room for sleep, dragging you if I have to." Steve said exiting the lab, with Tony trailing resined behind him.
The living room-Kitchen-dining room was chaos as usual. Thor and Hulk were playing fortnight currently being watched with a mix of fear and awe by Sam, Clint was alternating between shouting at them to let him play, or yelling with/at Rory about... Something. Nat would ocaisionly make comments in their conversation, making Rory cackle and Clint wave his arms ferociously. Vast amounts of sunlight poured in from the window. All of this (and probably only getting 2 hours of sleep a week, and ditching last night all together, though he wouldn't admit it) was making him a bit dizzy and very lightheaded. He leaned slightly against the wall and blinked. Steve noticed and frowned worriedly.Tony cursed inwardly, but before he could think of an excuse, Clint noticed them. Which was bad, but of course you probably guessed that. "GUYS. These two have got it all wrong, Leo was CLEARLY meant for Hazel!" " NO HE WASN'T! HE WAS MEANT FOR CALYPSO, AND HAZEL WAS MEANT FOR FRANK. REST YOUR CASE." Rory said passionatly from the couch, and Nat nodded fervently. Tony had no idea what was going on. "Uh..." Tony tried to make any sense out of this, but couldn't. Steve clearly didn't either, and Clint seeing this gave a wail of dispair, " THEY DONT KNOWWWW!" "Which means I get the pickles. Suck up Clint. " Said Rory firmly, and Clint, moaning, handed her the jar. Rory started to eat one before seemingly realizing something. "Tony's out of his Lab." Clint gave a screech of suprise like he hadn't just talked to Tony 30 seconds ago. Nat just rolled her eyes. Steve, also remembering this, and Jarvis's little stunt to get Tony "Into the land of the living" grabbed his arm again and dragged him over to the table, "Stay. I'm going to cook something, if you try to sneak off..."  He ended ominously. Tony rolled his eyes but didn't argue. Once Cap started on this track Tony had learned trying to stop it would only make things worse. He sat down at one of the stools embarrassed. The shippers (Clint, Rory, and sometimes Nat's nickname) looked at them strangely, trying to understand the exchange. Nat was the first to speak, "Um..." Steve responded in a way that Tony didn't find neccessary, "Jarvis?" He asked, not taking his eyes off the stove, and Jarvis recaped the other Avengers on Tony's schedule. Even Thor and Hulk looked up from their video game to stare at him. Tony facepalmed. "Guys, chill. It's not like I'm going to pass out or anything. " "Actually Sir, that's a very real pos-" "Shut up Jarvis." Tony said, giving the roof a death glare.
 ~The next day~
___________________________________________________
" BEEP. BEEP. BEEP." Tony groaned and rolled over, then gave a yelp as he fell off his bed. Ow. "JARVIS. KILL THE ALARM PLEASE." He shouted groggily, "Sorry Sir, but I have been trying for quite awhile now. It's Friday Sir." "What does that have to do with anything?!?! Wait...Oh NO." Tony scrambled up quickly, "What time is it?!?!" He asked nervously, "It's 11:46 am Sir..." Jarvis said. Tony cursed. PLEASE let them have saved one for him...He ran frantically from the room. You see, every Friday they got doughnuts from Krispy Kreme for breakfast to celebrate the "Start of the weekend" as Clint had called it when he had first brought some to the tower( for some reason weekends started on Friday to Clint), and it had become a tradition ever sense. Today was Rory's turn to pick them up, which meant that she decided how the "Rules" worked. Rory's rules were she'd get three boxes, divide them amongst the team, and if you weren't there with in an hour then your portion goes to her. She also got extra to begin with, and you had to be nice to her all week to get any (hard to do). She generaly ran the Monopoly on doughnuts and was unforgiving when it came to the rules. Which was why Tony was running rather crazily down the hallways hoping that she had decided to get the doughnuts two hours later then normal and she had experienced bad traffic on the way back. Unfortunately, only the bad traffic seemed to have came true...As the team appeared to have eaten their doughnuts already. Tony let out a groan of doughnut-deprived despair. "EARLY BIRDS GET THE WORMS!" Said Clint happily, licking his powdered sugar covered hands just to anoy Tony. "Maybe Rory could give you her second one, she still has two-....Where'd she go?" Said Sam in suprise, for the patch of ground where Rory had been standing two seconds ago, was missing a Rory. Tony heard a loud hiss from somewhere high up, and looked to see Rory crouching behind the cereal boxes on top of the fridge, growling like an angry cat. "I'll take that as a no..." Tony said nervously. "NO.ONE.TAKES.MY.DOUGHT" She hissed, retreating farther into the shadows of breakfast food. Everyone backed away slightly. Tony sighed. Now hed have to wait a whole nother week. Just great. This was karma he supposed for living in his lab for a week, the universe had decided to revoke dessert privliges.
Steve spoke and jolted Tony out of his pastery oriented thoughts, " Here." He said handing out half of his plain cake one. Tony looked hesitantly, all to aware of the team watching him (for whatever reason, he didn't know), and also this WAS Steve's doughnut...But it did look good. Steve seemingly knowing what he was thinking, smiled, "Oh come on, I already had three." And Tony took it, "Next time you need...I don't know...Urg I can't think of anything. Well whenever you need a favor, just ask. " Tony said happily, staring at what was now his breakfast. Steve nodded, the corner of his mouth twitching. Tony was about to start to eat it, when he heard a thump and a squack, like someone had fallen out off a fridge. Rory stood up fast, the doughnuts now forgotten at her feet. When he considered the fact that she looked ready to fight to the death over them a miniute ago, he didn't think this was a good sign at all, "Um...Are you ok?" Sam asked nervously, and offered her a hand to help her up, but she waved it off, eyes wild. Oh boy. "Did you just give him half your doughnut?!?!" She asked schreichly at Steve. Tony thought this was kinda obvious as he was holding it, but decided not to say anything. "Uh...Yes?" Steve said confused, and even more confused as Rory let out a very loud and high pitched cackle. "I KNEW IT. CLINT, NAT, WITH ME NOW. WERE WRITING A FAN FIC!!" And they all ran off into the depths of the tower laughing crazily, leaving the remaining Avengers unsure on how to react in the kitchen. Sam was the first to speak, "You do know what their doing, right?" He asked Tony and Steve, they shook their heads. "No...What? Is it bad?" Tony asked, wondering if doughnuts were worth this, it was clearly looking like they weren't. "Very." Said Sam gravely, "I even helped them once. Id take that doughnut, grab a jet, and leave the country. Or at least before they post it..." "Post what?"

~Well. Sorry for putting you poor readers through that. That's the only part I feel guilty about, my horrible writing skills. As for shipping Stony, I will NEVER-EVER fell bad for that. :)
Ps. It's Clint's turn to pick up the doughnuts this week, and he added a new rule. Ship Stony or no doughnuts. Deal with it.

You were just starting to nod off when Jimin patted your knee. (Y/N)? We’re here,” he said, giving your leg a little shake.
You peeked through the knit of your beanie at the sudden stutter of the motor- you had pulled it over your eyes earlier to block out the harsh sun- and started to push it back off your forehead, looking around the car in a sleepy haze. You were parked in the small parking lot of a looming multiple story building. Your new dormitory, Cheonjanggwan.
The Korean Nation University of Art’s (KNUA’s) academic year began in March, the start of their Spring Semester. Normally, you weren’t allowed in the dorms unless you were an enrolled student. In your case however, the school had agreed to let you be a registered tennant as you were on the waiting list and the dormitory’s resident quota had yet to be reached.
This meant you had about four months to kill before Freshmen Orientation and official classes. Your parents decided that this was an ample amount of time to adjust to your new surroundings and had helped with the details of dorm registration.
Yawning, you stretched your arms up as far as they could go without hitting the roof of the car. Jungkook was already beginning to unload your bags from the back and Jimin stepped out from the passenger seat to talk to him. “I think I’m going to help (Y/N)-ssi unpack, Kookie,” he said, closing his door.
You rubbed the ball of your palms into your eye sockets and blinked a few times, letting your fuzzy vision readjust. How long had you been close to passing out? Everything up to when Jimin and Jungkook were arguing over ‘when practice was tomorrow’ was a clear memory, but after that, it all went blank. You ignored the hitch in the far reaches of your memory, and fiddled with the buckle of your seatbelt.
The air here was cleaner than it had been in the city. Slipping out of the cramped car, you took the opportunity to get a lungful, stretching your arms above your head once more.
“-Jimin-ssi, I really don’t think that’s a smart idea,” Jungkook argued from the back of the car. You glanced over at the two, trying to look inconspicuous and not as if you were eavesdropping…
Even though you totally were.
Jimin crossed his arms over his chest, a telltale sign of his stubbornness. “Seriously Kook-ssi, it’s fine. I’ll just rent a bike or something back to the company. It costs little to nothing and I promised (Y/N) and her mother that I would be here for her today.”
“But Hyung-” Jungkook started.
“Look, I wasn’t even spotted in Hongdae earlier. The possibility of being spotted riding a bike or on public transportation is small. Besides, even if ARMY does recognize me, I know how to handle the situation.”
Jungkook sighed, but nodded his head in agreement. Realizing that the conversation was over, you shut your ajar door loudly to make it look as if you had just gotten out of the car. They both looked over at you, and Jimin dropped his arms to his sides, a smile appearing on his features. “(Y/N), we were just talking about you-”
Jungkook shot him a nervous pointed look, and Jimin corrected himself, “-your.. luggage. Where’s the rest of it?”
You wrinkled your nose, “I already told you, Oppa. The majority is getting here later. Some of it is already here though. My roommate should have received it.”
“Roommate? Hyung...” Jungkook sounded hesitant again.
“Daebak,” Jimin interrupted. “It’s already taken care of then.”
You looked between the both of them. Jungkook seemed frustrated with the older boy who stood in front of you, but Jimin’s hands were carelessly tucked away into his pants pockets, not a care in the world. You gripped the excess fabric of your hoodie sleeves, “Jiminie-Oppa, shouldn’t you be going back to practice with Jungkook-ah?”
“No, it’s fine. I have the rest of the day free if need be,” he smiled, and focused his attention onto gathering the last of your suitcases. Jungkook shut the back once the bags were procured and felt for the keys in his back pocket.
Once he fished them out, you and Jimin both waved him goodbye and started lugging your things towards the entrance. You pressed an ID code from the dorm registry onto the touchscreen lock outside, and pushed against the glass doors to prop them open for Jimin as he carried in your stuff. Moving to stand by a stone pillar in the wide lobby, Jimin nodded towards the desk to the left of you, “Go on.”
You didn’t move. Instead, you stared above you, into a lofty atrium capped by a glass roof, showcasing the floors of the dorm. Your heart began to palpitate in your chest and you could feel your stubby nails digging into the palms of your hands. This was a new step in your life, and you were walking in blind. Had you really made the right choice? What if the workload was too demanding? You had seen the promo videos for K-Arts on their YouTube channel. The classes were intense, and if you weren’t serious about your work, you’d be dropped like a hot potato. Were you really that dedicated to a craft you had only grown passionate about a year prior to your application?
And most importantly: Would your roommate(s) like you? Okay… so maybe that wasn’t the most important thing, but it was still pretty dang important.
An unsteady breath escaped when you felt a soft grip on your shoulder. Jimin was looking at you, his Ray-Bans slipping down onto the bridge of his nose so you could make eye contact. His eyebrows were creased in worry, as students passed unknowingly around you.
“You okay?” he asked, his gentle tone barely audible through his face mask. You nodded, shaking your head to clear you anxious thoughts.
“I’m fine,” you smiled, reassuring him. Reaching up to squeeze the hand on your shoulder, you removed it and walked up to the large oval desk in front of you.
You chewed on your bottom lip mindlessly as you stood at the reception, waiting for the woman at the desk to pull up your registration forms on her computer. After signing some things and showing proof of identification you were handed a slip of paper with a PIN and room number printed on it, as well as a visitor pass for Jimin. “Oh,” the woman said when you started to walk back. “We know it’s a bit of an inconvenience, but the elevators are under renovation at the moment. The master staircase is in the right wing of the lobby, by the lounge area.”
Your optimistic smile dropped and you clenched your jaw, “Ah. Okay, gomabseubnida.” The other woman nodded and you shuffled over to Jimin.
He noticed your agitated frown immediately.“What’s wrong?” he asked. “Couldn’t find your registration?”
“Nothing like that. Signing in went smoothly enough…” You hesitantly looked to your right and bit back a groan. “The elevators are just under maintenance and I have a room on the fourth floor.”
Jimin laughed and lifted up your arm, hanging limp in his grasp. “Awe~ Will your little noodles be able to lift the heavy bags?”
You sharply pulled your limb out of his grasp and gasped in mock disgust. “How DARE you? I do not have noodle arms,” you stated indignantly. Just to prove your point, you grabbed the heaviest bag out of the bunch, and started pulling it to the open staircase. “For your information, Oppa, these noodles carried bags all across Hongdae.”
He nodded and made a noise of mock admiration, resulting in a glare sent his way. You stuck out your tongue at him and he mirrored the action, following after you, accompanying the action with a ‘blep’ sound effect. You snorted and covered your mouth with your hand to muffle your laugh. He was clutching his stomach, bent over against another pillar in his familiar breathy laughter when you heard someone clear their throat to the left of you two.
“Um, excuse me. I almost forgot, but you do know the coed rule about this dorm, correct? It was on the registration forms,” the woman at the desk asked, looking mainly at you, but casting short glances on Jimin as well.
You looked at her blankly and her lips quirked up into a small smile. “The dorm rules state that no boys are allowed on the girl’s levels after six o’clock to discourage any sexual actions. Your boyfriend can help you unpack, but I’m afraid he’ll need to leave soon after, as it’s already five PM.”
Your eyes blew wide and Jimin cleared his throat awkwardly next to you. You stuttered and waved your hand, “A-Aniyo, he’s not- we’re not-,” but she had already turned back to her work. You buried your face in your hands to hide your blush and Jimin patted your back, continuing on to the stairwell.
“Come on, we have to unpack and then I’ll leave to avoid any ‘sexual actions’. I wouldn’t want a scandal with ‘some college girl’, now would I?” he whispered.
You grit your teeth and hit his shoulder, causing him to laugh and run off when you tried to hit him again. “Jugeullae (You want to die)?,” you hissed as the two of you ran up the stairs.
. . .
Out of breathe, you both tried to collect yourselves when you reached your room. But your giggles kept bubbling up as you pressed your hand against the touch lock, thumbing in the PIN that was on your slip of paper. What you saw when you stepped in however, made you take a sharp breath and stop dead in your tracks, “Oh, dear god.”
Jimin bumped into your figure as you stood frozen. “(Y/N)? What are you standing around fo- ...oh no.”
The door of your roommate’s room had been left ajar and you both gawked at the decorations adorning her wall. The wall and shelves were scattered with posters, albums, merch, and other kpop paraphernalia- most of it consisting of BTS. Amongst the photocards and various lightsticks, you couldn’t help but note the excessive amount of pictures of one member in particular… Jimin. He swore under his breath and ducked his head as your roommate’s face popped out from the adjacent shared bathroom area.
Her bright orange hair was pulled up into a messy bun, and a toothbrush hung from her lips. “Oh? (Y/N)-Unnie? Is that you?”
You nodded and she showed a toothy grin, covered in toothpaste foam. Ducking back into the bathroom, she appeared a moment later, toothbrush-less.
She was dressed in a sweatshirt and leggings, obviously choosing to go for a lazy day look. Compared to you, she was somewhat short in stature. For a guilty moment, you wondered what she would think if she knew she was standing in front of her idol looking like that.
Walking up to you, she went in for a hug and you leant back in surprise, suddenly encased in her arms. You weren’t super fond of skinship unless it was between you and your family/close friends.
She released you, and you straightened out your clothes awkwardly.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you! I hope you don’t mind that I already decorated. Who’s this?” she asked, nodding to Jimin. “Boyfriend?
You and Jimin both shook your heads.
“He’s my brother.”
“She’s my cousin.”
You both looked at each other, having given fake excuses at the same time. You subtly jutted your chin out at him and rolled your eyes. He wordlessly shrugged his shoulders and raised his eyebrows at you in apology.
The girl in front of you gave you both a weird look as she watched your silent exchange, but just shrugged and continued to smile. “Well, I’m sure the Ajumma at the front desk gave you the whole ‘no boys in the dorm’ spiel. She’s required to. No one ever really checks. I’ve only been here for a semester and you wouldn’t believe some things I’ve seen-”
You took the chance to interrupt her before you took on any more second hand embarrassment for her sake. “We’re really not dating.”
She blinked and shrugged her shoulders, giving Jimin a once over. “Okay, well, anyways. You can choose either room and a locker is free for your use if you need it,” she gestured to the two closed doors on the opposite side of the hallway. Each room was furnished with a simple bed, bare mattress, generous desk and shelf space, and a wardrobe. “The bathroom is over there,” she continued, motioning to the room she had just emerged from, “and you’re allowed to decorate however you like. There’s no rules or anything, but that’s unspoken,” she added with a laugh.
“Gomabseubnida,” you said with a bow, and started to move your boxes to move all of your belongings into the next room with Jimin’s help.
“No problem,” she responded in english, and headed back into the bathroom. “Feel free to use the living room while unpacking. I’m a bed hermit, so my feet probably won’t be touching the floor much anyway.”
You laughed and unzipped your bag, starting to unpack the first of your limited belongings.
-
You and Jimin had made significant progress, when his phone rang. He looked at the face of it and accepted the call, taking a moment to step out of the dorm room. You pursed your lips, but continued trying to find a place to store your suitcases in the small communal entry.
Your roommate was huddled in her duvet as promised, listening to some random song in her airpods, door wide open. She looked quite comedic, duvet pulled all the way over her head like a hood, although you couldn’t say you didn’t do the same exact thing. She was scrolling through her phone in that lump when Jimin came back into the room, still completely dressed in beanie, sunglasses, and facemask- just like he had been since he arrived.
“I need to go (Y/N)-ssi. I wish I could stay and help,” he apologized.
“It’s no problem, Oppa. I can finish up here,” you said smiling. He gave you a hug and said goodbye, waving to your roommate as well. She just smiled at him from her lump and went back to what she was doing.
“I’ll call you later, okay?” he said, opening up the door.
“Yeah,” you said, going back to unpacking.
He nodded and left, closing the door behind him as he went.
Soon after Jimin left, you found room for your suitcase in between the wall and the lockers and decided you should probably ask your roommate for approval before you shoved something in a hard to reach spot. You walked over to her bedroom door and leaned in, catching her attention.
“Hey, do you mind if I store my suitcase in between the wall and the locker?” you asked, hanging onto the door frame.
“Yeah, that’s no problem. Just make sure it’s out of sight. Dorm management likes to come around every now and then for random maintenance checks,” she said, pulling the makeshift hood back from her face.
“Okay, thanks… er, sorry, I never caught your name,” you apologized, stuck on how to address her.
“Oh, right. I’m Kim Sohyeon,” she said smiling. “Here, sit down. We should get to know each other now that your friend is gone.” She shuffled back on her bed and took the airpods out of her ears. A duvet-covered hand patted the spot in front of her and you laughed as you sat down, pulling your legs up underneath yourself.
“So, I know a bit about you already from your dorm application,” Sohyeon started. “You’re a film major, right?”
You nodded, “Yeah, I will be. What’s your major?”
“Me? Oh, I’m a dance major. Not traditional, ballet, or anything like that. I take some of the more modern classes. I still have to take all the dance history classes though. And of course the normal core subjects. English, Math, Science, etcetera,” she explained. “I’ve been here for about a month. I started mid-year for the Fall Semester. A bit odd, I know. Most students begin in the Spring Semester.”
“Is it really all that unusual?” you asked. “I wouldn’t think that starting after summer is so odd.”
“It is here. It’s more of a Western thing to begin the school year after summer,” she shrugged her shoulders, and looked down at her phone, a notification having popped up. Her eyebrows quirked up at it. “I have a package?”
You put your hands in your lap. “You get phone notifications for mail?”
She nodded. “Mm. It’s this really useful app the Dormitory provides. I’ll help you install it on your phone later. Wanna come with me to the mailroom?”
You nodded and both slid off her bed, Sohyeon discarding her duvet cocoon in a disheveled pile on the mattress. You shoved your feet into the sneakers you had been wearing earlier, folding the heel over itself. Sohyeon opted for a pair of Birkenstocks among the small mess of shoes by the door, sliding them on over her colorful socks. She held the door open for you and you both stepped out into the hall.
“You’ll probably want a pair of house slippers for the dorm. Socks are fine, but slippers are just more comfortable and clean,” Sohyeon commented as you two walked to the stairs.
“Yeah, I was planning to get some smaller necessities tomorrow. I didn’t bother to bring them from Busan,” you explained your lack of things to her, as you bounced down the first set of stairs.
“You’re from Busan? I’m from Changwon,” she smiled.
“Jinjjayo (Really)?” you asked excitedly. “I have friends from there. I had no idea we lived so close!”
She dramatically gasped, “Uwa! We could’ve been childhood friends, but now I guess we’ll never know how awesome our potential friendship could’ve been!”
You both laughed and made your way down the last couple of steps. “Any idea what it could be?” you asked as you both headed outside the glass doors that led to the outdoor reception.
“Aniyo. It’s probably just a care package from my mom. She sends them by the boatload.”
You both walked up the the desk and caught the attention of the college student working behind it. “Hi! Uh, I got a package in the mail?” Sohyeon said, holding up her phone to show the notification.
The student behind the desk nodded and shuffled over the a row of small metal lockers behind him. “Name and room number?”
“Kim Sohyeon, no. 527.”
The boy reached to a lockbox near the top and unlocked it, pulling out a package. “Here ya go,” he said, handing it over to your roommate.
She took it and smiled her thanks, starting to head back to your room. “Thanks for coming down with me,” she said, looking back at you.
“No problem,” you said, following her up the stairs.
. . .
You were both back in her room, you sitting on her bed again after you helped her put the duvet back on properly, and her searching for a box opener. It was comfortable enough, but then the dreaded question came.
“So, about house slippers, there’s this really cool shop, ‘Butter’, and it carries some super cute and fun ones! It’s at Exit 1 in Hongdae. Have you been there yet? To Hongdae?” she asked, letting out a frustrated huff at her lack of sharp objects.
“Yeah, I went there earlier to meet up with my friend. He and his… brother, drove me here.
“Haha, I knew he wasn’t related to you! Oh, speaking of your friend,” she began, still shuffling through her desk drawer, “He looked familiar. I wonder if I know him from somewhere?”
“No!” you said a little too harshly. She gave you a weird look and you withered a bit. “I mean, I guess he just has one of those faces, ya know?”
She shrugged and raised up her fist in victory a moment later. “I found one!”
You laughed, and she picked up the box that was sitting next to you on the re-made duvet. Slicing into the tape with a pair of scissors, she pried apart the cardboard and pulled out the packing paper. You were about to look into the box when SoHyeon let out an ear piercing scream. You quickly slapped your hands over your ears as a protective barrier and winced.
“Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!” she ranted about a million times. “It’s here!”
You took your hands away and looked into the box. “What is it?” you asked, picking up the white book. It had holographic swirls on the front and words that were so shiny, you couldn’t quite make them out.
“It’s the BTS Love Yourself album! I preordered it, but I didn’t think it would come yet!” She screamed again, and you cringed. “You know who BTS is right? I mean, of course you do, you’d have to be living under a rock if not, but are you a fan?”
You shrugged and smiled a bit, “I like some of their music. A lot of the older stuff, although I like DNA and the Intro of their new album.”
“Ugh yeah. The vocal line absolutely kills me. Jimin is my favorite though. Do you have a bias?” she asked, carefully pulling the CD card from the case.
“I don’t really follow the group,” you admitted, watching her take out the photo book.
“Awe, that’s too bad. Sorry, you must think I’m overreacting,” she laughed nervously, and rubbed the back of her neck.
“No no, it’s fine. Don’t feel bad. I have a lot of ARMY friends, so I’m used to it,” you smiled, and her shoulders dropped.
“Ah, okay, that’s a relief,” she breathed, and sat down in her desk chair to start carefully flipping through the book. There were lots of awe’s and ooh’s from her side of the room, and you amusedly looked on. She stopped, midway through the book, and carefully took out a small rectangle of paper.
“What’s that?” you asked, looking at it curiously.
She reached into her drawer and pulled out a small block of adhesive putty, kneading it into a small ball. “It’s a photocard. They come in every album. I can’t wait to see who I get,” she explained excitedly, pressing the sticky ball onto the back of the card. She climbed onto her bed and stood up, flipping the card over before she mounted it on her wall.
There was a redheaded boy on the front of it, looking at the camera with a bright smile. Your roommate frowned a bit, but mounted him on the wall next to similar pictures.
“What’s wrong?” you asked, looking up at the wall.
“I just didn’t get who I wanted,” she said. “It’s fine though. I love Hobi too.”
“Hobi?”
“Huh? Oh right, J-Hope. He’s a rapper in the group.”
“Ah.”
You looked up at the wall and examined the rest of her room again. Living here was definitely going to be interesting.

The Full Interview
Michael Roulier and Philippe Lhomme, directors of foodfilm Interview:
1. Could you introduce the work experience of both of you? When did you two begin to form the team to work together on creativity?
We both have quite a long advertising background, and one thing we have in common is that when we started we did not take advertisement very seriously, at least at first, being more interested into art creation.
In the nineties, if you aspired to exhibit artwork in galleries, it had to stay "secret". So both of us entered the advertising world almost "by accident". After finishing his studies at Penninghen art school, Philippe started painting and installed his atelier in Mesnilmontant district in Paris with no heating. Living and breathing only for his art. Still today he is the one who draws all our scripts, and it is important for us to keep it that way since it is the very first contact we have with clients to seduce them with our stories.
I take care of the writing. I started as a photographer hesitating between photo- journalism and fine arts after having passed a master in Philosophy, but absolutely passionate by all forms of photography. We where both introduced to the advertisement world almost by chance. We did not know each other at that time. It was a golden age for advertisers.Ten years later Philippe was a Creative Director at DDB mainly in charge of an iconic French award winning food brand that French people loved because of the quality of communication and visuals.
On my side I had become a studio still life photographer working mainly for luxury brands and cosmetics subjects. One day Philippe called me and asked if I was interested to do some "food tests" for the brand, and I must admit I was not too excited about it.
Food was not really glamorous in those days...it was called "alimentary photography". Restaurant Chefs where not considered like the Rock Stars they are today, and I cared more about my personal research considering advertisement like a lovely job, but not like a finality, even though I was lucky enough to work for beautiful brands like Hermes, Gallery Lafayette etc... In the end it was a revelation. I discovered a completely new world into which I had a total creative freedom, which was not at all the case for others kind of advertised subjects. Usually Art directors had no clue about what to do with food, and it was very much 'comedy' orientated as they felt more confortable doing that. It was not the case of Philippe who already believed that there was a lot do in this field and really tried to bring the visuals to a very artistic level. We inspired a lot of other food brands with our images, and the brand became a real visual reference for food. Finally we ended up becoming food specialists, but it had never been our initial projects. We collaborated together for 15 years always trying to focus as much as possible on textures. Food can be naturally ugly and somehow you need quite a lot of experience to master it. We noticed at that time that the food film industry was still surfing on a quite archaic imagery, where the heroes where definitely not the food. In parallel amazing cook books where being printed as editors understood there was a huge market in selling this very artistic food approach. I did 36 books and had the chance to meet these amazing Michelin star chefs who where all desiring to do their proper "food manifesto". It was part of their "business plan" to do such books. A necessity for them that made photographers very happy.
The brand we where working for was only doing print, but one day they asked us to film some recipes for viral videos. They where short on budget but we where given "carte blanche". We just loved doing them, and applied our print workflow to this new experience. We where both passionate about films in our personal life. I was interested in doing experimental research around cinematic experiences inspired by people like Stan Brakhage or Maya Deren. Philippe was spending a lot of time in contemporary art galleries watching artists using video as a medium. Strangely the brand hardly used these film recipes we did for them, and it stayed completely confidential until we decided to post them all in one batch on Vimeo. It became like a tsunami: phones started ringing all the time, and many production companies scouting on Vimeo made us tons of propositions. It all went really quickly, and a year later, Philippe naturally quit his job as creative director at DDB, and on my side I switched from still-life photography to film directing.
2. Which clients do you serve currently?
Our website is built like a simple blog, so the very first page represents our actuality and the clients we lately served.
We have a lot of different clients, and we have enlarged our "film perspective" in exploring other field like the cosmetic world.
Usually cosmetic brands would hire purely still life directors specialized in jewelry, watches, or shooting very "static" items. They had a very "contemplative" approach. Almost robotic. We brought "life" and action, avoiding the 3d representations mainly used at that time. Agencies where seduced by our food background and tried to apply this "spirit" to selling cosmetics...they where seduced by our organic approach.
We love also working for cosmetic brands (L'Oréal, Garnier, Yves Rocher, Décleor, Neutrogena) because the visual grammar has to be very metaphoric, so there is a lot of creativity involved in the process, and they are really expecting this from us: "unseen ideas" to illustrate the benefit of the products....
As far as food it stays our main subjects. Our clients are very eclectic. When you shoot food films you have to collaborate with the big agri-food groups like Neslté, Lactalis, Mondelez etc...and the creative validation process tends to be quite heavy. We can vigorously defend our ideas until a certain point, but at one stage "the big machine" can easily "laminate" your creativity. We are used to that. So what's really remains is the quality of the CRAFT. Our background in print photography really helped us here. I have always been passionate by the digital world and started working early with computers. We try to control in-house as much as we can: compositing, post production and coloring. Our workflow is very direct and since we don't have "a complex post-production pipeline" our approach is very "boutique" in a way. We do hire some digital artists, but they come to work in our studio under our supervision before the film presentation.
We do a lot of this post production job directly on the set: we have great people around us helping us to achieve "live" what is usually done a few weeks later, which is quite an unusual workflow, and spend the nights coloring the clips to be able to show them the next day.
2bis. What’s your core concept of making creativity for clients?
What inspires us most is graphics, architecture, contemporary art, constructivism, Bauhaus, Melies (a French director of the beginning of the century creating illusion) and I am forgetting a lot of other things. Being two "brains" enlarges the perspectives and the approaches. We don't use any DOP, so it's really a duo work.
Philippe and I have very different personalities and skills, and strangely it works really well. But what really unifies us is a desire for elegance and fluidity. A lot of food studios sometimes lack this little something related to external input. Our respective personal passions in life keep enriching our professional work.To resume, it's about "good taste" as we say in France.
We have been too much categorized as "graphic" directors, and that saddens us a bit because we are very much about filming "sensuality". This is probably due to our long collaboration for Marks & Spencer, and to the number of films we did for them.
Our camera angles are usually very simple, frontal and direct. We do have an in-house Kuka robot, but actually don't use it so much, considering that the most important part of our job is composition, more than just a robotic technical achievement.
The editing is the other part into which we have put a lot of energy. The rhythm is not only achieved by the editing skills, but also by the use of visual patterns within the individual clips. We don't "contemplate" too much with long travellings, our work is all about action and the smart ways we have to find in order to animate our textures. And finally the transitions within clips are to our eyes as important as the clips themselves, and we always look for little tricks in order to help the editor's work.
3. Why do you want to be specialized in food films and why began? What’s the benefits of working in this specialized area? How is this area special among creative films?
Food was up to quite recently an unexplored territory. This is what makes it fascinating for us. We are artists using food as our playground. Being French also means that we have a cultural respect for it. Colors, shape, complexity of textures, infinite visual associations and concatenation, and in a certain way "porn".
Pornfood meaning that we can induce by the visuals the viewer to "drool" when we film organoleptic textures that provoque desire and satisfaction.
The other challenge was to totally erase human beings. It's more a philosophical and artistic choice than a necessity for us, and every time we are asked to shoot actors we are happy to do it. But to be able to captivate audience without the acting support is a really an interesting direction. The concept of no-hands-films has led us those last years, but we are in constant evolution, and I am sure it will change.
Being specialized in food give us more freedom than working for other subjects. Everybody has to say something about fashion, cloths, talent acting etc...but very few can have a clear vision about how to stage food, and it gives us a real license for creativity. It's a niche, and that's what's great about it.
4. What kind of experience can you share about food films making? What is the critical thing when making them? Could you explain with 1-2 examples?
One of the critical point is always Time management. When you work with textures you are always surprised by the fact that you cannot really know in advance what shots are going to take more time than others. When you have a long shooting on multiple days your can "deal" with a certain time-elasticity, much better than a single day shoot, when you know that in the same day, whatever happens, you have to "deliver".
We have to obtain the "visual miracle" in a very short time and sometimes it just does not happens, and you can feel the production team and clients become stressed. We learned how to deal with that quite well. Experience will help of course, but sometimes a simple action like just filling a glass of wine in front of the camera can become a nightmare. Of course one could rely on robotics to do that, but then you might lose all the beautiful accidents that can make the quality of the shot. So it's all about making the right choices at the right time.
The same critical point goes when writing the scripts. We have to constantly evaluate the "is-this-going-to-be-possible?". It's great to have ideas, but they have to be somehow realistic and credible, and sometimes we are not really sure of way the texture will behave. There is a lot of randomness that we don't control. We often start over and over again to get the right movement or action. We do work with some great SFX teams that we constantly challenge with our crazy ideas, as we took an ideological posture with Philippe not use 3D, and to always film everything for real. Many people think we use 3D, but I can assure that we don't. We do composite a lot though.
5. Why do you think your work is attractive to the audience and help the brand grow? Can you share one of your favorite works?
I think that what attracts people to our work is that we are often "on the edge of credibility".
We play a lot with illusion, like a magician who will suddenly speed up a gesture to hide the tricks. The rhythm will help us to create this magic. For example we also very often defy gravity, or normality, in order to give a sense of quirkiness. Make it a bit "weird" to get more appeal or unexpectedness. We also try to show details that people usually don't really see, emphasizing a certain playfulness with our camera. The slow motion Phantom camera really helps the observation of the unseen.
The other attractive thing is that our scenes are always "in action". The common question for us is "how are we going to activate this image". No time to contemplate, the textures are always animated in order to keep the tension of the viewer.
6. How’s film creativity different from the general creativity making?
To accept to work as a team with other people. Even more, to admit the power of a team, like a football player.
It is much easier for Philippe who is an ex Creative Director used to commission other artists. I am a bit of "a control freak" and that makes me makes me suffer more than him, and probably others too. This is where we are really complementary.
Nevertheless our team is much smaller than a conventional cinema team, and we try to keep this "boutique" home-made atmosphere. The idea is to never lose the "primal vision" of the film, and keep an eye on everything. We always work with the same team, and we all know each other really well, and that gives a lot of fluidity to our relations. When there is a difficulty, we naturally team up all together to find solutions. It's very democratic!
A good team is like a good wine and it's years of maturation. We where lucky to achieve this.
7. How do you usually allocate work between you two and collaborate with other members in your company? How’s your creativity making process usually?
We both do everything, it's democracy again. We try to put our ego's on the side of our relation.
We do fight a lot though to defend our personal vision of the film, but this is what makes our treatments so rich.
We usually take two days to write a script. The first day is only dedicated to brainstorming, and we throw as much as ideas as we can. Phillipe does quick drawings as we
speak to keep it as a memo. The next day he does the drawings, always in black and white. I love the simplicity of his style, and he really has a camera in the eyes. His drawing treatment is very different of what would provide a rough-man or illustrator . I take care of the writing, and I am extremely precise in our explanations. It's the main secret to win bids. We also try to control as much as we can the art direction of the treatment, and exchange a lot with the creative team doing the lay-outs in the production house. Same goes for the mood boards.
8. Could you tell me an unforgettable thing during you two’s collaboration?
Sometimes the shape of an object, a texture or anything else can slowly become sexually evocative. We remember this time when breaking a poached egg was really reminding a close up of a "very different" scene that could have been extracted from an X-rated movie. Nobody was saying anything, but everybody was thinking the same thing. It was at the same time really evident, and somehow quite understated. At one point the producer "played" his job, and said it, which meant that we had to reshoot the whole scene. It was a good laugh for everybody. It's foodporn after all !
We have hundred of anecdotes with our job, but that's another interview.
9. How will Foodfilm or you personally partner with Stink? What do you think you will bring to Stink’s team through this partnership?
We are very excited with this new partnership, and as we are quite easygoing, it should work really well.
Being represented by Stink is a caution of creativity, so we might have to fight less to defend bold ideas. I don't really know if Stink represents a lot of other table top directors in their international "spiderweb"? I think that the food film market is really huge, and still
growing. So if we can fill this gap for them it's really a great win-win association. Let's talk again about it in a year time!

Spit-Take’s Last Squirt
I look down at the parking lot of the apartment complex, I briefly think the back of a woman’s head walking away from me is the front of a hot guy walking towards me.  I hear a deadbolt unlock and turn and am invited inside.  Crossing the threshold of Rob’s apartment door sinks a throttled prick through my body akin to stumbling into a rusty and bubble-wrapped metal spike apparently for sale in an antique store.  Even as the top door hinge passes by my temple as a snubbed showbiz air kiss there is a flash in my mind of something, unrelated to the physical apartment and also a thing I will never be able to remove, that asks to keep my focus in two places at once.  Between these two places, the feet and the head spitroast me with their perverse negotiations.  My initial trauma is at this point overused as a topic and let’s agree boring to think about; my mind starts to suggest trauma spinoffs instead.  I am given a glass of water by Rob but then ask for a beer as, without asking, my memory gifts me excruciating yet kinkily edited content of my attempts to recover.  One of the best ways to come back from a nervous breakdown, I decided in the aftermath of that notable moment, is to do it very very quickly, ‘few solutions are as correct as speed-processing a massive landmark shift in the perception of reality,’ I had soothed myself in the aftermath.  I was hoping for something shittier than an IPA, I drink the IPA and turn, I notice the back of what I believe is an old woman’s head and body resting on the couch.
After my  ˹survivable event˼  it was typical for all of the dying to retire inward. I believed I could bring back my life in the same way that people made jokes about being dead inside to prepare for the end of the world.  Alright, the remodeling of total defeat into pragmatic quarantine.  Enough disaster movies had passed, everyone notices catastrophes have entertainment value, I would walk past and look in the glass reflection of a recently opened Thai street food spot run by white ex-skaters, I evaluated my drilled in face and greyed out options, my de-emphasized terror: maybe even I could be entertaining. My original twist on the concept of recovering was to imagine my strength and ability as limitless. To decide I could pre-understand the well-flung implications of my situation, of a mind unable to cope with learning all of the things that are possible.  I wanted to turbo-ravel a lights out unraveling; the poet who wanted to be a cop.  I turn to Rob and say nothing about the apparently older woman, he also says nothing about her, asks, “what kind of music do you like?” before playing an Ace of Base song and I don’t have to answer.  The woman seems to be activated.  Her limbs slide against her torso and she turns to look around the room, then briefly at us but again at the room, then one certain spot on the wall to the right of where we are standing where she settles and says “hi” in a warble expelled as a foehn.
I return the hi and am introduced to Gail.  I thought of all my failed solutions.  For instance, attending several satellite Occupy Wall Street protests, where discussions of income inequality and widespread mobilization were annotated with shouts, why is there fluoride in our water and end the fed.  One important takeaway involved a large man yelling along to the song being played on the sound system, “fuck you I won’t do what you tell me,” for two repetitions of the lyric before realizing no one else would join him and vanishing into embarrassed aerosol.  A successful protest fixates on a way for everyone to feel more or less the same emotion at a coordinated moment.  A successful protest is very sharply art directed and does not relish the display of rehearsed outrage.  The foot I thought I’d taken out of my ass and put through the door had somehow ended up in some other ass.  Feel it for the first time again.  Though people will regularly re-watch movies only waiting for their favorite lines to be said, it seems they rarely stop to consider protest tactics they have seen before.  I thought I had the patience, the dedication for such things, I tapped out naturally and in gas form. “She needed a place to stay for a bit,” Rob tells me, Gail says nothing but smiles lightly, looking at us in some awesome combo of salivating for a response and indifferent to the fact of being trapped behind twenty successive panes of stained glass.  Tchah, the experience of watching an ancient demon fail an eight week long beginner’s course on improv. “I see,” I conclude, Gail’s expression remains the same.  “Wow…’Beautiful Life’ is such a good song,” Rob says. The song moves to the front. I say, “Yes, I do love ‘Beautiful Life.’”
I had tried walks and not just sometimes but many walks.  Down the city cul-de-sac at a certain time.  Listening to wordless music, this one some sort of ambient dramatization of Eurydice’s botched escape from the underworld, a repetitive melancholy chunnel.  Then a rotation: it becomes Britney from an era when pop turned us around an axis both blingy and higgedly-piggedly-nigh-fucky-wucky, gently increasing the healing concept with each exacting flail, that there may be a consolation for all problems leading up to and including the end of the world.  The consolation was dancing all night.  Of course the time of my walks was twilight.  Fried mindsets gave the music much power as a narrative soundtrack; as I looked at a single branch of a very tall tree overhead and caught in sunset and streetlight, jiggled evocatively by wind, and heard a sort of coincidental despair-organized belch from the buckled gut of the mp3, I attempted to speed things up by trying to lose my mind all of the way.  This did not work, I had to stay somewhere in between.
I went on more walks alone but never too far from my amazing bed.  It was crucial to be within 30 walking minutes of somewhere unsurveilled where I could lay down and catalogue mysterious headaches, as mysterious headaches had rightfully been selected as the center of my world.  The speed of losing a mind is incredibly hard to measure.  Gail also listens to ‘Beautiful Life’ and clearly does not know what it is, I don’t feel familiar enough with Rob to confront the question of how they know each other, I try:
“Are you two related?”
“No no no, haha,” Rob’s voice enters an excited tone. Gail emerges a glacial grin that, even as it forms one of the most approachable configurations able to be realized on a face, still seems misdirected from the hook of a comforting social cue, “no, I met Gail at a bar last night.  At Tina’s.  She just needs a place to stay for a little.  She just moved back here.”  “I spent many years in Lawrence, with my family,” Gail says.
“I see.”
Context clues point to homeless, I ache to know much more, Rob twirls around with unbridled pizazz.  He puts his two arms straight out towards me, “what would — ohhh!!”  He retracts his arms. “I was going to ask if you wanted something to drink.” Gail rests, “but you already have a beer,” and here he must have felt the panic to entertain away a social gaffe by immediately giving a clear-cut logical explanation, “my mind has been wiped away this week.  So much molly…           Well…   good.”
“Yes.”
“Yes INDEED hunny. This past weekend just about mummified me, I’ve been in a sarcophagus all WEEK, did you do anything fun?”
“Umm.”
I remembered then I was trying to stop using umm. I was coaching myself to be quite fearless and brave when entering sentences.  The CEO of a major newspaper-then-media company once said, before filming a segment for an in-house spot on the company’s approach to advertising its newly launched free weekly targeting 23-35 y/o young professionals, ‘I’m not an umm guy.’  This dialogue, delivered to the video director who was reminding the CEO to look straight in the camera and avoid using expressions like “umm” and “uhh” since they communicated unpreparedness, nerves or insecurity, revealed in its choppy severity a set of verbal and body language constraints that likely this man thought of all the time in order to conjure his short and long term goals.  Likely he thought of them almost as much as I thought about mysterious headaches.  I had been hired to help craft services for the shoot and spent much of the time sitting against a wall print of a famous basketball player, staring at the glass-walled office and elevators meant to enhance, via the perspective of ‘more space’ given by such architecture, a tech-oriented workplace for the media-damaged graduates.  See-thru offices offer more natural light, the young people of the era seem to enjoy a certain kind of light.  Another two-day job to float me, and an opportunity to rebuild a stomach for being outside of my incredible room.  “I stayed in on Saturday,” then I pause before continuing, “I watched a movie.  A documentary,” which I had watched for 17 minutes before moving to my window to observe the parking lot for 45 minutes, followed by bed.
Rob seems uncomfortable with this idea, “you should come out with us this weekend. There’s some stuff going on.  Maybe you can come to this super fun party, it’s a queer party.  In fact it’s a conspiracy theory-themed queer party.”  Gail moves her left forefinger a splanch.  “It’s really funny! And good music, people dress up, it’s called……….Femmetrails” there is a pause of expectation which I do not know how to meet and which is ignored “it’s really funny and lots of dancing. My friend Blake hosts it. But in drag.  And, guess what his drag name is” I try to remember: was it a parking lot I observed, or a man in his early 40s masturbating within a fingerprint-shrouded computer screen “Georgia SORROWS.  Gail’s going to come!”  Gail has stopped grinning and seems to be unreachable for the length of a square breath before a small shift in her sitting style punctures the proto-gargoyle droop. “Yes I am going to come” she confirms.  “Yes and you should too,” it appears Rob is attached to the idea.  I clean out my lower mouth with my tongue, with mouth closed.  “That would be, maybe” this seems to be enough of an answer for everyone.
Rob sits on the ground, I begin to prepare my body to also sit on the ground.  It had been a meat lover’s pizza approach to self-healing.  Kava tea from the pharmacy chain, sugar abstinence, performative meditation, I slipped into nonsensical jogging regimens, coffee abstinence, I walked gently in frozen empty parking lots, I didn’t touch anyone for a full year, “my balls are lost halls,” short term CBT and do-it-yourself biofeedback, waiting for hyperventilation so I could write about it, and all this supported by typical means: substantial daily hard alcohol acceptances and fearless ibuprofen stuffings.  And to heal oneself completely, one must never enlighten others to the full extent of the problem and the drenched map of half-solutions being applied, regularly, in secret.  Yes, I had as much spiritual discipline as a teen in an Intro to Photo class taking b&w photos of homeless people on the street.  I sit down at least four feet away from Rob and twelve from Gail, who in the meantime it has been discovered does not know the story of Amanda Bynes’ breakdown.  She also does not know who Amanda Bynes is.  Neither Rob nor I have any interest in making that clear.  The super gonorrheic minutiae that line and then bedazzle the mental process of a terrified person do not enter conversations as smoothly as quotes from 23 year old cult TV shows canceled after two seasons.  Not a shock, only a condition that makes the thoughts turn ever more crunched, ever more specific and internally bound, glowing with unpopular culture.

Letters: ‘Who Does Homework Work for?’
The Cult of Homework
American teenagers now average about twice as much time spent on homework each day as their predecessors did in the 1990s. Whether the practice is beneficial for learning, Joe Pinsker wrote in March, is highly contested. “As many children, not to mention their parents and teachers, are drained by their daily workload, some schools and districts are rethinking how homework should work—and some teachers are doing away with it entirely. They’re reviewing the research on homework,” Pinsker wrote, “and concluding that it’s time to revisit the subject.”
I am 12 years old. In my limited experience, the major issue with my homework is that I get out of school at 2:45 and I have to go to swim team at 4:15. I know that might seem like a huge gap but it is not really. I still have to pack for swim and have my chores to do, not to mention the fact that I get home at 8:15 every night. By the time I finish my homework it’s about 10 o’clock. I am already too tired to do my homework well and I am very tired for the next day. I think if we go to school for eight hours a day, we should not have to do any more school. I also agree that homework is totally unnecessary since it does nothing but stress me out—and I can still get good and possibly better grades without homework because I can go to bed earlier and will be more awake and alert come the next day, so I can learn more.
Sicily Annmarie Hegge Elizabeth City, N.C.
As a second-year high-school teacher, I found your recent article on homework to be compatible with much of my own thinking and training on this subject. I tend to assign homework two to three times a week, usually 10 to 30 minutes a night. This was emphasized in my credential program and first-year training.
I would estimate that most sophomores I teach have about 60 to 90 minutes of homework every night if you combine my class (world history), math, English, etc. I always think intentionally about the homework I give, focusing on the purpose and value of each assignment. Your article summarized these debates well; many veteran teachers are certainly stuck in their ways when it comes to homework and curriculum in general. Homework is like any other learning tool; it works only when it is intentional, relevant, and engaging.
While your article succinctly summarizes the educational debate and history surrounding homework, it fails to fully explore the important socioeconomic and cultural differences that can lead to disparities in homework completion and sense of value. While you wrote about how white, middle-class families are often the loudest voices in education, I would have liked to see more about other types of families. Many of my students have jobs, take care of siblings, and/or participate in after-school activities. While some of these young people are high-achieving students with lots of support, others struggle to complete any homework given the physical, emotional, and mental demands they balance at school, work, and home. Still other students lack the support and “push” they need, choosing video games and YouTube over homework every night. These types of situations need to be addressed if we are to have a productive conversation about homework.
I often speak of the metaphorical “kitchen table”: that quiet, nondistracting place at home where kids can do schoolwork and maybe even get help from an educated adult. However, it also encompasses more than a mere physical space; it is having food on the table every night, access to books and the internet, and the presence of stable, loving adults. I was lucky to have that kitchen table, and it contributed to my success in countless ways. Many of my students simply do not have this space. Of course, the presence of the kitchen table is undoubtedly tied to race, class, immigration status, homeownership, mental and physical health, communal support, and a variety of other factors. But its presence or absence can forever alter a young person’s life.
Maybe the question is not “Does homework work?” but rather “Who does homework work for?”
Sam Eaton Social Studies Department John Henry High School Richmond, Calif.
Homework in my school district is not graded. My mother finds that laughable—but I don’t laugh about how much homework I still do. I still study, because I’m scared of failure. It’s not enough to eliminate homework. Eliminating homework will do little to reassure the underlying anxiety of many students. Radical reform to testing, to how we admit kids to college, and to how we view failure and success is necessary. Eliminating homework—or similar policies, like not grading it—address the symptoms of a system that bases student worth on scores, not effort and character. Maybe it’s not a question of how much: It’s a question of what environment homework is in.
Alicia Liu Hillsborough, N.J.
What this article didn’t discuss is the advent of video games and cellphones in modern students’ lives. The “free time” made available to students by reducing homework isn’t spent in a halcyon daze of getting outside to play, commune with nature, or engage in relationship-building with family or peers. Instead children while away hours immersed in their phones or video games, learning nothing and actually harming themselves physically, socially, and emotionally. At least with academic pursuits like homework, the time spent could have some meaningful effect on their future. I feel so lucky that both my children were raised (at least throughout high school) sans cellphones and with the structure and expectations of homework.
Carrie Freeman Kennet Square, Pa.
I developed the math curriculum for grades seven to 12 in Essexville, Michigan, in 1965.
Our innovative approach never referred to homework. Instead students were enabled by the methods we used to educate themselves at the pace at which they wished to proceed. Courses were divided into approximately three-week batches. Students were able to “challenge” the final exam for each batch whenever they felt ready. There was no penalty for a failed challenge; the student just had to go over the material again, then challenge once more when they felt ready again.
Some students would complete the material in the three-week period, but it was more likely to take more or less than the (artificially!) planned time. One student completed the “year” in three months; another took 15 or 16.
If there was any homework done, it was the student assigning it to himself. Sometimes parents just felt they had to push, but the school stayed hands-off. Results were in so many ways phenomenal.
Chuck Josephson Tuscon, Ariz.
When my kids were in public high school (a science-oriented lycée in France), they had about two hours of homework a night, at most three. They were in bed by 10 p.m., well rested for very densely programmed days in school. We never had to goad them to study, in part because they were self-motivated, but also because they knew how much they had to do, so it was a routine. Both of them got into their first-choice universities in the United Kingdom and thrived.
I was struck by the contrast with friends of ours in the United States: Their child, in an elite private school in Brooklyn, had so much homework that she often worked until 1 a.m. and was constantly exhausted. The assignments sounded interesting, but they were scattershot, not predictable in length, and—most important—they didn’t seem to contribute to a clear goal beyond simply working. What distinguished the French lycée—and we were very pleased with the level of general education our children got—was that the national curriculum pointed everything toward the goal of passing the baccalauréat exams at the end of high school. That meant that they knew what they had to learn, and virtually all homework was designed to contribute to that preparation. Of course, there are downsides to this kind of strict focus. For example, our elder child helped found a student newspaper, which the administration regarded as a nuisance. It is also inflexible: If you don’t fit with the plan, you’re pretty much out of luck. Nonetheless, it serves many very well, achieves high standards of education, and maintains a sane workload.
Robert J. Crawford Talloires-Montmin, Rhone-Alps, France
After reading the article, I feel that just as researchers tend to fall into two camps, students also fall into two camps: Those who would excel irrespective of homework and those who would definitely benefit from homework. Hence homework needs to be balanced to offer enough learning freedom to the former group and to instill learning discipline in the latter group.
Sandeep Khabiya San Jose, Calif.
Let’s face it. Class time is always going to be insufficient given that kids are always going to be at various levels of knowledge, intelligence, motivation, and capacity to learn. A one-size-fits-all system will either waste the time and lose the interest of the kids at the top or leave behind kids at the bottom.
Take away homework, and you subject the kids to rude surprises. Yes, they can skip the stress on a daily basis. But they will be shocked when they find a grand canyon of disconnect between what they know and what the teacher expects when they take a test.
Yes, there are types of homework that are a complete waste of time. But take away homework completely and you are throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Vinit Karandikar Coppell, Texas
I am 52 years old. Forty years ago, in middle school, I began refusing to do homework. I did this partly as protest, partly as a consequence of the chaos of puberty and self-creation. What I couldn’t have known at the time was that those acts of defiance would become building blocks for the man I would become. My agency was born in reaction to a bad system. I draw strength even today from my actions then. As a high-school dropout, I am a self-employed writer and consultant in the computing industry.
I salute the parents who support their children as they stumble blindly to selfhood, refusing to comply for the sole sake of compliance.

'What advantages and disadvantages does social medial present to the modern writer?'
Introduction
It would seem that those of us of a certain generation would argue that life without technology
was so much slower and for some, easier, and yet books still got written, ideas were still shared and research was still undertaken ' family members used to write letters to each other.  Those letters were read, re-read and cherished..... as soon as e mail becomes chatty, you're in trouble because tone is missing and it is therefore inferred by the reader...not implied by the writer'. (Galm,2014. P,23).  Before the computer for example the main forms of communication were having a cup of tea with the neighbour, or a pint in the pub.  Very few homes had a telephone and every neighbourhood had a phone box.  Any research was sourced from an actual book and/or journal article, often borrowed from the library, or in more remote areas the fortnightly travelling library, It is only in the past twenty years, with the invention of social media that modern writers lives have been transformed, as the first recognised social media site was called 'six degrees' and founded by Andrew Weinreich (Ahmed, 2018).
Everything is now available through technology, from the spelling of a word to using a Thesaurus; fact finding or researching social media, all at the press of a button.  Writers today have instant access to information and saving painstaking referencing, which inevitably saves time.  Social networking is an integral part of everyday life for today's generation of writers, social networking can occur for social purposes, business purposes or both through sites such as Facebook. (investopedia 2018). As communication to both capture and retain one's audience as a writer is becoming more and more important in the competition to gain readership and/or published, the way that social media and the internet is utilised can either be your friend or foe.  The internet is enhancing the amount of human connection and as a writer that has to be positive if you interact with social media platforms.
1
Sarah Locke Student Number 1806. PW1001 :Publishing 1: using blogs and social media 18/19
The use of social media and the internet have allowed people of all ages, races, sexual orientation and among other things, financial backgrounds, immediate access to friends and family.  Smartphones are the world's preferred choice for going online.  It accounts for the greatest share of web traffic than all other devices.  They are a defining feature of modern societies. 'two thirds of people now own a smartphone, using it for nearly two hours every day to browse the internet, access social media...' (Ofcom 2018).  The use of social media is vital in helping people everywhere to connect to other people and organisations.  This has many advantages in keeping up with loved one across the world, to have access to breaking new immediately.  With the increasing trend  to video blog, 'vlog' modern writers can share their writing in a new, informative way.  This has the advantage to share the beginnings or whole stories or even the process of writing a book, in daily vlogs. Before modern technology Charles Dickens share 'Great Expectations', as a weekly story in a newspaper.  This then resulted in a classic novel. The disadvantages of vloging is that if you show your face then you lose your privacy.
In discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of social media and what role it plays in the modern writer's life, the chosen media platform is Facebook. Facebook is defined as an online social networking website where modern writers can create profiles, share information, both literary and personal, share photographs and quotes about themselves and their work, and respond or link to the information posted by others.  'Facebook's core platform still dominates the global social landscape, with total users up 15% year on year.' (google books).
Advantages and Disadvantages of Facebook
At the beginning of this year there were '2.17 billion users world wide' (google books) on Facebook. The advantage of this social networking website is that it is very user friendly and enables the user to quickly add/delete and/or edit content, share information about their writing,
2
Sarah Locke Student Number 1806. PW1001: Publishing 1: using blogs and social media 18/19
and even share their progress and the highs and lows of their writing journey.  One significant
advantage therefore is that the writer's work is exposed to its audience and becomes the subject of many posts on Facebook within a short time frame.  Modern writers also tend to use Facebook as a blog, enabling them to be informal and friendly with their followers.  Another advantage of Facebook is that it allows accessibility to the platform and access to latest developments.
Facebook can also be a great source of inspiration and motivation for writers, as other people share stories which can then be used as seeds for ones own story development.  This modern writer was recently inspired from a news story on Facebook about an Indian girl who had been kidnapped, six years ago, and her parents still firmly believe that she is still alive.  This was then used to put forward as a pitch for a 45 minute film.  Although the story was embellished, the bones came from this short news story.
A recent report by Dr Max Pemberton, an NHS Psychiatrist, in the Daily Mail newspaper (28/4/2018) said that social media can have a distinct advantage on the mental health of users, 'research found that when used properly and with caution, social media can actually have a positive image, educating people to connect with like minded peeers and expand their horizons.' (p.14 2019).  Interaction with social media platforms like Facebook in an informed and responsible way seems therefore to be a key factor for the successful writer today.
Conversely there are also some significant disadvantages of Facebook as a social media platform.  One such disadvantage is that writers should be observers, actually looking at life through their own lenses and perspective.  Factors surrounding mental health, including cyber bullying and depression have been linked with spending long periods of time on social media website and can cause social anxiety and isolation.  Matt Haig a reporter for the Guardian, recently stated, 'I used to think social media was a force for good.  Now the evidence says I was wrong.  Its clear that these platforms
3
Sarah Locke Student Number 1806. PW1001: Publishing 1: using blogs and social media 18/19
create divisions, exploit our insecurities and risk our mental health.' (p, 6 6/09/2017).
Another disadvantage for modern writers are that many are unable to sell their articles to local and national newspapers because the readership has diminished.  Johnston Press the forth largest regional newspaper group in the UK ,founded in 1767, has just gone into administration because it is unable to make a profit, due to new technology in this case social media.  A recent newspaper article in The Guardian explains, 'At its most recent trading update, Johnston reported a hit to revenues mostly due to changes in Google and Facebook Algorithms.' (17'11/18 p. 14).
The advantages of social media platform such as Facebook for today's modern writer is the speed of communication of writing, vlogs and photos.  You no longer need a very expensive camera and video camera to film everyday events, 'this means that when an event occurs where there are people to see it, there is frequently also footage, courtesy of someone's ever-handy mobile phone.  Following the London bombings in 2005 the BBC received hundreds of videos and images from the public (Stuaart 2007).
The disadvantages of social media platforms such as Facebook for today's modern writer is that we have lost closeness with other people, including other writers.  Communicating and interacting with other individuals and groups are a very important way of staving off mental health issues and loneliness caused by isolation.  By observing peoples gestures and body language you can gauge how a person is feeling and that can only come from being with those people.  Emma Brockes a columnist based in New York wrote 'No Facebook, I won't be coming back.  I've seen the dangers of habitual sharing.  It was noticeable how going somewhere and seeing people was an antidote to the grey-slate of life on social media, and that by not sharing it was somehow made more precious.' (The Guardian 15/6/2018 p. 28).

Conclusion
In conclusion by examining the evidence put forward in this essay it does appear that there are more advantages than disadvantages for modern writers using social media.  The social media platform Facebook is a useful and straight forward tool and it provides a direct author platform, enabling the writer to build a tribe of loyal fans at no cost.  Authors publish and unpublished engage directly with people throughout the world. Through democratisation of information, social media has made information accessible to everyone, in this case the democratisation of information through technology.

Quantum SDLT-2 technologies assists to meet the backup needs of tiny computing systems, demanding information centers, medium-sized organizations, branch offices, video applications and enterprise workgroups. This is why Intel’s i7 line has remained the pinnacle of CPU performance, even though AMD has been pushing their CPUs to run at greater clock speeds, with marginal efficiency gains at the cost of improved energy consumption, which for a laptop implies the battery has to be charged more frequently, shortening battery life.
DisplayLink technology is used in dozens of globally branded Pc accessories such as monitors, universal docking stations, display adapters, projectors, and zero client systems that make expansion of the desktop visual workspace feasible, at considerably reduce cost and energy usage than traditional solutions. As opposed to larger systems, mini PCs have no capacity for internal expansion. Intranets are a powerful technique for allowing a firm to do business online, for instance, to permit any person on the Internet to order merchandise. Ususally I run the simulations in series (tuning model and handle parameters, and so on.) even though at times they could run in parallel for Monte-Carlo-type simulations, need to MATLAB allow so (Parallel Processing Toolbox?). Access Wise delivers special, higher-good quality, integrated hardware and software program packages that securely handle important information more than wired and wireless networks, computers, Point-of-Sale devices, kiosks, and any other device that can accept and communicate via smartcard technology. This was demonstrated at the launch occasion of the new workstations, exactly where HP showed just how simple they had been to service and preserve, starting with the flagship Z800. The graphics card is the other vital component in a professional workstation, with a more quickly card rendering the on-screen graphics at a greater frame price, creating manipulating models and textures significantly smoother and much more responsive. The ThinkStation E30 workstation logs a 57 % more quickly boot time and 38 % faster shut down time more than preceding models, whilst the ThinkCentre M81 desktop begins up 30 % more rapidly.
AMD says the new Pro” chips are up to 62% more quickly than some Intel chips operating the types of demanding software program apps that can take benefit of numerous processing cores in a single chip. Therefore it is required to have diverse designs of office desks to suit the numerous requirements of an workplace. Other than Foxit PDF reader, there is an Office trial and HP’s personal Remote Graphics Software, a clever piece of technology that makes it possible for the user to access, share and broadcast from a Windows-based device.
