A Little Out of The Ordinary
Whumptober No.1 Fic
The Magnus Archives, 1108 words.
TW: Body Horror, Dissociation
Summary :Everything felt just a little bit off, like in one of those shows where a character moves the other characters' stuff an inch to the left, and you can tell, but not really. (fic below cut)
Everything felt just a little bit off, like in one of those shows where a character moves the other characters' stuff an inch to the left, and you can tell, but not really.
Jon felt his lip’s twitch up at the thought of Tim doing that to him, it sounded like something he would do. Of course, that thought was immediately drowned out by whatever new fact The Beholding had decided to bless him with (Super Glue was invented twice). Jon had mostly accepted the new mental companion at this point, even if it never offered anything helpful, some of the fact’s were mildly interesting.
He idly thought about when Martin would be bringing tea next, he liked Martin’s tea. He made it nicely, even if it wasn’t to Jon’s actual preference, it was good enough and Martin made it, so he drank it. His brain was really running today, he wondered if Michael was nearby? The man had that sort of effect on him.
His thoughts were confirmed, only a moment later, when he heard a creaking somewhere behind him. His lips twitched again, he had been right.
“Good afternoon, Michael.” Jon greeted, not looking away from the particularly interesting spot on the wall he had been staring at. He hoped it was afternoon, when was the last time he checked the time?
“Hello, Archivist.” Michael crooned, and Jon frowned as his brain felt fuzzy. The “everything was set a little to the left” feeling doubled, and he found himself squinting at the wall spot to keep his focus on it. Jon blinked, the fuzz stayed.
“Hello, Michael.” Jon repeated, squinting harder as the fuzz grew and he felt a presence behind him. He wondered if Michael’s presence interfered with his third eye as well, would that even make sense? Did The Spiral block the vision of The Beholding? He could check, but then he’d lose focus on his wall spot and he didn’t fancy doing that.
Michael appeared in front of him, and Jon flinched back, eye’s closing momentarily. Ah. There goes the wall spot. He stared at Michael, eye’s scanning his face for any sign of threat, and a spot he could stare at until Michael moved and he had his wall spot back.
“Archivist.” Michael said, and Jon refocused himself, staring at Michael’s ever shifting face. “The eye’s are new.” Jon blinked, what was he talking about? Jon reached up to his face, rubbing at his two eyes. He could still see, even with both eyes closed. That was new.
“What.”
“You missed one, Archivist.” Michael taunted, finally pulling away. Jon turned with him, staring up his figure, difficult as it may be. He closed his two eyes again. He could still see Michael, but the perspective was off. Jon reached a hand up towards his forehead, and the vision was obscured.
“Ah.” Jon exclaimed quietly. Michael was correct, that was new. He casually turned back away from Michael, hoping that he would leave now that Jon had finished being entertaining. He reached for his phone, handily on his desk, to use as a mirror.
He wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but it was an eye. Green, unlike his other two, and subtly glowing, but just another eye. He experimentally closed it, and found his mind suddenly and shockingly empty. He quickly reopened it, feeling the now comforting presence of The Beholding. He had not realized how much space the entity took up until it was absent. How interesting.
Despite the additional body part, and the presence of Michael, Jon drifted back into his head as he stared at a new spot on the wall, content to listen to The Beholding as it spewed facts and just disappear for a while.
He had forgotten about the new eye, as Martin walked in delivering tea. Jon blinked a few times, coming out of his focus on the wall. “Martin,” Jon greeted happily, smiling. Martin looked up at him, smiling, before his expression dropped into shock and the cup he was holding fell. Jon frowned, concern and anxiety brewing. “Are you alright?” Jon questioned cautiously as Martin frantically gestured to his forehead, mouth opening and closing rapidly.
“Eye. Forehead eye.” Martin whispered out, his own eyes widened. Jon’s face went from concerned to contemplative and then nervous.
“Ah yes. I’m not quite sure when it showed up but it’s there now. Are you alright? Did the tea burn you at all?” Jon quickly pushed for a change of subject, and Martin seemed to move on, dazed but accepting.
It wouldn’t be until much, much later in the day, when the Archives were quiet and the only light came from his own eyes, that Jon allowed himself to acknowledge it.
He reached a hand up and hesitantly prodded it, he could feel it, but it didn’t hurt, not even as he touched the actual eye, and it didn’t close either. Jon closed his two actual eyes and took a deep breath. He fisted one hand on his pants and the other one grabbed at the new eye, it didn’t hurt but it was… an uncomfortable sensation, as he groped at the feature. Poking and prodding and grabbing. He couldn’t get a grip, he couldn’t get rid of it. It did not close on its own, however. And The Beholding continued to be a presence in his mind, watching like a curious puppy as Jon played with his new gift.
He didn’t want it. He didn’t want the gift or whatever the fuck The Beholding wanted him to call it. It was just another reminder of the monster he had become and he didn’t want it. He scratched at the eye, but it did nothing, the vision as clear as ever even as his own eyes (when had he opened them) blurred with tears.
When he had accepted The Beholding, he had expected some… adverse effects, but an entire fucking eye in the middle of his forehead? Not exactly expected. Jon let out a choked sob as the true reality of his situation crashed over him. It was always night’s like these where the trauma, the tapes, fucking Elias, flooded his mind and pushed away everything until all that was left was The Beholding.
Tears blurred his vision, but only some of it, and he could still see the room but it was bathed in a green glow that was emitted from his own body, and everything was just a little to the left.
Jon cursed and cried as he buried his face in his hands, vision remaining unmarred as the third eye ceaselessly watched his environment.

someone was talking about Alice and Celia being anagrams and it’s times like this I really just hate Jonny Sims. Because you see, your first instinct is to theorize what that could mean because it’s got to mean something right? Wrong. This is the same writer who plagiarized his own birth certificate for a main character and then named three important re-occurring characters Michael….IN A AUDIO PODCAST.
Jonny sims is a genius writer, but he also wrote “there is no such thing as a name” about himself and his tendency to just pick names based on whatever first comes to mind. HE VOICED A CHARACTER NAMED DONNY SUMS. DONNY FUCKING SUMS ARE YOU KIDDING ME-
