“What are you waiting for? Get rid of the girl already,” Wu Yanzi demanded impatiently.

Shen Jiu stiffened.

“There’s no need. She won’t tell anyone,” he answered, keeping his voice carefully even. “Shizun, the authorities will be here any moment. We should leave.”

“All the more reason to kill her quickly, then,” Wu Yanzi sneered. “She’s a witness and if you’re too stupid to see what a liability she is—”

The remainder of Wu Yanzi’s words would forever have to remain a mystery, however, because the next moment he was staggering back, both hands clutching the knife lodged in his throat, voice trailing off into a wet gurgle. Shen Jiu gaped, then whirled around to see Qiu Haitang standing up, apparently not unconscious after all, casually brushing the dirt off her clothes.

“Haitang,” Shen Jiu managed. His tongue felt slow and heavy inside his mouth.

“A-Jiu,” she returned. If she was at all bothered by the fact that she’d just killed someone (and he still couldn’t wrap his head around sweet, innocent, bright-eyed Tangtang taking a life), she didn’t show it. “I suppose I owe you a great deal for uncovering this scoundrel’s scheme and arriving in the nick of time to save my life. It’s unfortunate that the rest of the household didn’t make it but at least their souls can rest easy knowing their killer was caught and killed in the middle of executing his plan.”

She said all this very blandly, with about the same level of emotion as someone reading last month’s budgetary reports out loud. Shen Jiu vaguely wondered if he’d hit his head on his way out of the burning building.

“Haitang, I promise you, I wasn’t— this isn’t— I can explain. Your family—” He stuttered, stumbling over his words in his rush to get them out.

The look of absolute hatred that crossed Qiu Haitang’s face at that moment made the words dry up in Shen Jiu’s throat.

“They’re not my family,” she hissed, icy fury saturating every syllable. “My family would never have done the things they did.”

Shen Jiu swallowed.

“You knew.” All this time, he’d thought—

“A recent development,” she admitted, the coldness in her eyes receding and reverting to its prior emptiness.

“I never wanted you to be involved,” he stated, the closest thing to an apology he could bring himself to say. “I should go.”

“Don’t be a fool, A-Jiu,” Haitang huffed. “There are few ways to make yourself look more guilty than by fleeing from the scene of a crime.”

“But the authorities—”

“Haven’t we already established that you were the one to uncover that murderer’s plan and arrive just in time to save my life?” she said blandly. “You’re a hero, Xiao Jiu.”

“You can’t possibly believe that’ll work,” Shen Jiu said incredulously. There was no way it could be that easy. It couldn’t be that easy, could it?

“Lucky for us, the only other witness is in no state to provide a credible statement at this time,” Qiu Haitang said, aiming a rather vicious kick at Wu Yanzi’s corpse.

Shen Jiu looked at her for a long moment. All this time, he’d thought that she’d been the one person ignorant to his situation, blinded by her own naïveté and love towards her father and brother.

He didn’t know her at all, he realized with a faint note of wonderment.

“Why?” He asked, desperate to understand. Why give him an alibi? Why help him cover up the murders of her own family? Why help him?

She was quiet for a long moment.

“Because if I don’t have you, I don’t have anyone,” she said finally. “Isn’t that enough?”

Shen Jiu thought about Yue Qi and broken promises, about staying behind on a sinking ship long after he should have swam for safety, all for the tiny glimmer of a hope that he still had someone in this world who cared about him. Who would come back for him.

“Yes, I suppose it is,” he answered.

finally created the little mermaid!au fic with prince abby and ariel reader

abby longs to see the world. little does she know that a horrible storm and haunting voice will give her what she's looking for.

wc : 918

contains : readers skin and appearance aren't described besides your hair being long! i also described it as flowing down but i thinkk that can apply to different hair types/textures.

a/n : thinking about doing a mermaid abby version since people were asking! i'm so against disney's remake mania but go watch the little mermaid 2023 if you haven't already halle was a knockout.

abby who has lived most of her life longing for an adventure. often thinks back on how when she was younger she and her mother would take trips on a royal ship to nearby islands and towns, spending time in the markets and having picnics on the beaches.

how when her mother died in a shipwreck she was devastated, her father banning most non-trade sailing only adding to it. after a few years, she manages to convince her father to let her join some of them and she's never felt so at home as she does on the seas with her crew.

but for a night luck wasn't on her side. one moment she's laughing and singing a sea shanty while some of the crew life her up on their shoulders and the next she's fighting to stay above water, watching the sea phoenix go down in flames.

the first thing she hears when she gains a bit of consciousness is a voice. its blurry at first but then it becomes soft, melodic, almost angelic. when she opens her eyes a bit she sees a figure of a woman before its gone in an instant.

for the next day its all she can think about. the faint glimpse she got at her saviors hair, flowing down her shoulders like waves. the little flecks of the sea on your skin, the shape of your lips while you sang to her...

her father and some of the workers in the castle think its a symptom of being at sea after a wreck for so long, but eventually they start a search for the mystery girl who saved the princess's life.

when she gets word that an unknown woman has been found on the coast she rushes faster than she ever has to meet you. when she bursts into the room her heart sputters as you are probably the prettiest person shes ever seen. if you were the one that saved her shed drop to her knees and propose on the spot.

but you cant be because you cant speak. she tries not to let her dissapointment show.

when you get invited to stay at the palace she decides to be courteous and invite you to explore a bit with her, and its better than she could have imagined. you have a wisdom about the world and the ocean she's never encountered with anyone else.

when she shows you the rock she discovered at a nearby island market you simply hold it up and drop it to the ground, giving her the mineral inside like you knew what it was the whole time.

everything becomes more confusing the following day when she takes you to the local markets. the way you smile at her and the way you look so beautiful while dancing throws her for a loop. but you are a bit odd, as when she was admiring you talk to the flower seller you gently took one from her hand and bit it?

later that night she takes you to the river system a little ways away from the markets to see the beautiful waterfalls and the fireflies that only come out during this time of year. while rowing she swears she hears a voice in her ear telling her to kiss you, and just when she think you are close to doing so the boat is nearly tipped over.

when she's lying in her room that night she is the most confused she's ever been. when she thinks of you her heart races and she feels nervous. in a good way. all she wants to do is spend more time with you and explore and show you every inch of her kingdom. but at the same time the thought of her mystery savior remains on her mind.

the last thing she remembers is heading towards your room before the voice that saved her makes everything blurry.

when she comes to she's apparently in the middle of her wedding to a woman named "vanessa" and in the middle of you saving her you've turned into a mermaid. her brain is stalling in shock but her body goes into defensive mode when some of the guests start to crowd in on you calling you a "sea monster".

and she cant believe it took her until this moment to realize it wouldn't had mattered if you saved her or not (although she is slightly giddy that you did) because she really does think she loves you.

she hopes helping you kill the giant tentacle monster woman in the sea will help her prove that to you because if it doesn't she will be a little ticked off.

when the clouds part and the water settles her kingdom, friends, and family are safe. but it's clear you've gone back to your home as well. and she's glad knowing that you're probably safe and happy. she just wishes it was with her.

its another normal sunny day as she sits looking out over the ocean, daydreaming and giving constant pets and cuddles to bear who sits at her feet, when out of the corner of her eye she sees you walking up the stairs and she doesn't think she's ever run faster than when she moves to pick you up and twirl you around in her arms.

when you pull back you look at her like she hung the stars and moon in the sky, and she hopes her face shows the same.

if lily was reincarnated into the naruto world, how would that turn out?

Got another ask that was like, "what if both Hisana and Sayuri reincarnated in the Narutoverse" so I'm just gonna combine the two into "what if both Christina and Lily reincarnated into the Narutoverse."

I've always thought Lily/Sayuri shared quite a few similarities with Itachi, so...here you go. An AU in which Lily gets reincarnated as Itachi and Christina gets reincarnated as Sasuke.

The thing about canon!Itachi is that he was split between his duty to his village, his duty to his clan, and his love for his brother. He ended up deciding his clan was an inevitable sacrifice if he wanted to save his village and his brother, and well-- we all know how well that turned out.

Lily!Itachi, on the other hand, does not give a single flying fuck about Konoha, the Uchiha clan, or really anything except for the only person who's made her feel less alone since arriving in this godforsaken world. There's no dilemma, no conflict there, because Sasuke is the only thing that matters. So what happens is that she decides, you know what, I'm just gonna fake my and Sasuke's deaths and get the fuck out of this hellhole before shit really hits the fan. Konoha, Danzo, the Uchiha? They can eat each other alive for all she cares.

"Lily," Christina said, a little helplessly. "Lily, maybe we should talk about this."

She spoke in English, the way she always did when they were alone. One of the most widely spoken languages in their previous life reduced to a secret code between them alone.

Lily hummed, giving her a small smile.

"What's there to talk about?" She asked.

"I mean." Christina paused delicately. "We did just fake our deaths and defect from the village. That's a pretty major event."

She looked at Lily.

"You bought us a little time, but sooner or later, they're going to realize that we didn't actually die. You realize that, right?"

"What are you saying?" Lily asked.

"What I'm saying is that maybe we should make ourselves a little less recognizable." She smiled, eyes bright. "They're going to be looking for two brothers. Not two sisters."

Lily's breath caught.

"Are you really able to--?"

"There's not much I'm not able to do, with chakra," Christina laughed. "Granted, it'll take a bit of time, but to start...how do you feel about the names Isane and Shion?"

Honestly their 'fake our own deaths and transform ourselves so completely no one will ever be able to recognize us and then proceed to lay low/live a quiet peaceful life away from any ninja bullshit' plan would've worked, had it not been for the fact that Christina/Sasuke/Shion was completely unable to stay away from any bullshit happening at any given time.

"Please tell me how in our attempt to become boring, unremarkable civilian figures unworthy of any shinobi attention, we ended up becoming vigilante heroes roaming the countryside dispensing justice everywhere we go instead," Isane said dryly.

"Oh, come on," Shion huffed. "You can't tell me that you didn't enjoy bashing that Gatou asshole's head in."

"That's not the point, the point is--"

"The point is that for the first time since entering this life, I'm seeing you smile and have fun," Shion interrupted. "And if that means attracting a bit of attention? Well, I'm willing to take that risk."

(It's interesting thinking about what their interactions would be like, I don't write them together that often. Comments welcome!)

here are some designs for trolls x tlm au! and some info below the cut

batman is a rock troll who turned grey after his parents death. he still plays rock music though only as batman and Bruce Wayne is famous for staying away from singing and any music.

(IMO there can be multiple reasons a troll turns grey and a grey troll can still sing but usually they just lack a desire to. batman's reason for being grey is not related to singing)

emmet and lucy are both pop trolls. but lucy tries her best to hide her pop ties and dyes her hair black. she is not grey but pretends she is and refuses to sing and listen to pop songs especially "everything is awesome"

while emmet is a pop troll he has no idea how to make his own music. as anyone under lord business's rule are not allowed to make their own music

and Watevra is the true queen of the pop trolls. while most pop trolls lived under the rule of lord business she ruled her kingdom far away only returning after his defeat. unfortunately due to miscommunication, this was thought to be an invasion. leading to Watevra's kingdom and the other troll genres to fight. until all of the musical strings were gathered together to finally unite them. emmet and Rex try to prevent this "apopalypse" as they believe Watevra plans to turn everyone into pop trolls. but in reality Rex plans to destroy the strings to get rid of music forever.

going to draw more of this au later! I'm not 100% sure on certain things so i'd love to hear suggestions

are you still gonna do a sequel for your Donnie TLM au?

Yes! The sequel is still something that will happen! In fact I got almost all of it already completely planned out, but right now my priority is the Anastasia AU Interactive Fic and then I will get to it!

I even mentioned before that if I figured out what I was doing with the Anastasia IF I would also convert the Little Merturtle fic into an interactive fic too! After writing the sequel of course.
