Ok so I've been trying to buy a house for a while and i am getting so discouraged. All i wanted was a little house in the woods, could be rustic af, a fixer, whatever, nothing fancy or in a super nice neighborhood or even close to town. But I looked at one place that was PERFECT...it was just at the very top of my price range AND 2-4 hours away (depending on traffic). And probably no point in offering for it anyway bc I'm sure it will get bid on above asking price and I can't afford that. And another place I was looking at, a fixer, already has multiple CASH offers for $15k over asking because any affordable place gets snatched up by investors. I'm so angry and frustrated because the way things are set up in this country regular people are shit on while affluent people or companies are always given preference and there's literally nothing you can do.
How am I ever supposed to get anything if people with money can just swoop in and pay cash (and then they'll put $20k into it and sell it for $150k more so people like me can no longer afford it)
I can't even buy a tiny house and put on some land cause you can't finance them. I tried looking into building (thinking hey land is not super expensive and I only want a teeny little house that's super basic) but nope it costs 2x as much to prep a site as it does to build the fucking house.
So at this point the only thing i can afford (MAYBE) is to buy a condo and there's a 90% chance I'll be miserable because I'm so sensitive to noise.
The market is bullshit right now but even when it's not, it caters HEAVILY to investors and is set up to fuck over regular people, specifically people at low or medium income. There need to be laws in place to prevent this (like just putting a buffer period in place where only primary residence buyers can be considered before investors get to bid) but AMURRICA!! CAPITALISM!! Got to make sure the rich folk are taken care of, people just trying to get by can fuck off.
So. Fucking. Tired.
