obscure tbp hcs
just some thoughts tbh (hints of brance and finbin)
goes between modern day and the 70s
- griffin would definitely send death threats to people online at the most minor inconveniences. nobody expects the innocent ones
- billy knows how to play the hermonica
- vance would be one of those toxic gamers. the ones that just yell and scream and blow air into the mic
- bruce the type of mf to actually slip on a banana peel
- robin goes around school and does those interviews with a tiny mic
- billy and vance would do the “devious lick” trend that happened early last year. mfs would steal the whole bathroom sink
- the guys try to recreate the breakfast club table scene and the table ends up collapsing
- one time griffin jumped in a pool and immediately started drowning
- finney is extremely good at solitaire
- bruce has held a boombox outside of vance’s window after a fight. vance closed his blinds after seeing him
- griffin would run a stan acc on twt. no further comment.
- robin has doodled “F + R” in his notebook
- when gwen and finney go shopping, finney is the designated bag holder
- bruce owns one of those crusty white dogs with a human name
- gwen has definitely been chased by geese at a park
- the guys have made one of those “cooking in the cafeteria” videos but caught something on fire
- billy spams the gc with tik toks that no one ever watches
- vance and robin are the number one instigators. they will hear people arguing and go, “you gonna let them talk to you like that?”
- finny watches interstellar every week
- robin has accidentally grated his hand while grating cheese
- griffin doing something feral and vance going “what if i told you griffin got that dawg in him?”
- finney follows those niche fire alarm accs that post rare fire alarms
- bruce has five pairs of the same shirt and gets clowned for it. the guys call him a cartoon character
- billy sleeps with like 10+ stuffed animals
- vance's mom has a doll collection and it freaks everyone out
- gwen goes around and takes those .5 photos of everyone
- vance and robin working at a local fast food place together and just hiding in the back whenever a customer comes through the drive thru
- billy yelling “stroke that thang cuzzo” when bruce goes to hit at a game
- robin scares finney at any chance he has
- one time griffin ate five corn dogs before going on a rollercoaster, it did not end well
- vance definitely go to house shows. those diy shows in peoples basements, backyards, garages, etc. whatever, you name it. sometimes robin joins and he takes bruce one time
- griffin has a pet goldfish that somehow doubled in size
- gwen has a collection of half burned, unscented candles. they are all carious colors and her dresser has wax embedded into it
- bruce watches golden girls. period
- gwen and finney sometimes have a “sleep over.” which just consists of finney sleeping in gwens floor and her forcing him to play dolls and do prank calls
!! bonus !!
left image: left - everyone else, right - griffin

dating suna be like
pairing: suna x reader
a/n: random dating suna drabbles because i <3 him. this was intitially gonna be some plot but it turned into entirely too many suna thoughts so- (more under cut) might do a part 2 idk
Dating Suna fun. Like all y’all do is chill and vibe but it’s never boring. The relationship is literally like dating the bestie. He probably calls you the homie to his friends. He will and does turn linking with them down to hang out with you (he genuinely enjoys spending time with you m—as u should when you’re dating someone lol). Half the time y’all just be chilling in each other’s presence mind your own business. Just sitting on the couch and he probably has he legs draped over your lap and whenever either of you see something funny you can just wordlessly hand your phone over to the other. I feel like you two would develop a similar sense of humor just by dating so he lets out a little low chuckle and smirk and just shakes his head handing your phone back.
If he’s gaming and has you over he always has one ear off so he can hear you talking to him. He mutes the mic when he chimes in. He doesn’t need the boys clowning if he slips up and says something cute
He’s the type of bf that’s like “excuse me” (mentally cause he not finna really day it) and loves you out the way with his hand on your waist/lower back. If he wants attention he damn near grinds against you (like you really ain’t have to do all that to get past lmfao). If you look at him like 🤨 he’s all “yeah my bad 😹”
Teases you like “you know your Megan but do you have Megan knees” (he saw that tik tok and spoiler—you don’t have them Megan knees. Fight him ❤️) Just mention how he’s done 5 strokes in and it’s all good. These roast sessions are funny and they happen a lot. Y’all have done the “it’s the for me” (without recording) it before. Or y’all do it a lot but it’s all love.
“ Yo (Y/N)” “What do you want?” “If you were a bug I’d step on you ❤️”
Hates driving so he makes you do it. You become his chauffeur. Whenever it’s “alright so who’s gonna drive,” he’s going to get your keys for you like a gentleman. He controls the aux though. He’ll sprinkle some songs you like in between his playlist bc he cares and likes seeing that little smile when your song comes on and you just vibing. He always has the seat reclined back pretty far (even when he is driving)
When y’all occasionally go out to parties he kinda just has his arm casually around your shoulder other hand holding a drink. If he’s still sober that’s as far as it go tbh. Y’all not really into the kissing PDA. But he will lean to whisper in your ear if he gotta tell you something. Will also do it to /badly/ rap some rap verse to you that’s playing. “Please don’t quit volleyball to become a rapper”You gotta get a few drinks in him to get him to dance fr. But if you throw it back he knows how to catch it just know that. Somewhere deep in the crevice of Atsumu’s phone there’s a video of you and Suna straight drunk, getting a lil touchy while dancing. (Bonus: y’all practice it in the bathroom mirror sometimes. Get a hype song playing and y’all both in a good mood and just feel oddly hype— yeah. Has the phone in one hand, other on your hip.)
Hes has a soundcloud and once made a song that was so bad that you forever clown him. You don’t let him live it down. He deleted that shit so fast. You straight hurt his feelings. “Babe come listen to this”
“LMFAO what is this garbage”
It gets awkwardly silent and you realize it’s him. You laugh so hard tears form. You can barely breathe as you ask if that’s really him.
Suna: nothing but pain
You tell him don’t he ever do that again in his life.
He looks good in anything he wears really. Does have a signature of either gray or black sweats though. Wears a tight black tee. Anyways at some point y’all get thin matching gold chains. His has a super tiny pendant. It’s the first letter of your name. When I say it’s a small letter, it’s small. Like you’d only see it if you were standing pretty close to him and purposely looking for it. He keeps it tucked under his shirt most of the time but sometimes it do dangle in your face and it’s like “damn I bagged him 🥰”. Your chain has a R on it is it’s bigger than his (but don’t worry not like obnoxiously big)
When you sleep you sleep with your backs to each other. Whenever he has to get up super early for practice he does wake you up to say bye (like it’s not 6am 😐). He wakes you up right when he’s up so his voice is all deep and sleepy as he just presses a kiss on the back of your shoulder before mumbling “Got practice. I’ll be back later” in your ear. This doesn’t happen all the time but sometimes when he’s hit with how good you are and how lucky he is he’d follow it up by softly gripping your jaw to place a soft and sleepy kiss on your lips. Those days are followed with soft “love yous” instead of the usual “see you later”
Whenever either of you has to travel or go away for an extended period of time y’all always end with “be safe”. It’s not the delirious morning “I love you” but still means the world. If you’re going together the two of you show up to airports in black hoodies and sweats. He always has his hood up and if it has strings he’ll pull them. Ifs it’s early he sleeps on your shoulder. Yes it starts to hurt and fall asleep but he’s cute when he’s not talking so ❤️

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 2 Recap: Group A Wildcards, Back to School Themed, Let’s Meet New Students Baby and Hamster (Commentary & Guesses)
Hello my internet friends and welcome (or welcome back) to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. So, this is technically the 2nd part of the premiere episodes’ recaps, since both of these episodes aired on the same week, back to back. So yeah, let's get started, shall we:
Ok so same ones as last time performed (minus the 2 who got eliminated), which were Pufferfish 🐡, Skunk🦨, and Bull 🐂, plus 2 new wildcards, Baby 👶🏼 & Hamster 🐹 and 1 of them was revealed who was...
*DRUMROLL PLEASE*
Ms. Pufferfish 🐡
Tumblr media
Performance: So, she stuck with the Tik Tok song theme, and performed Levitating by Dua Lipa and DaBaby (yup, she did rap again), which felt like a repeat of her 1st performance. I feel like she is WAY BETTER than singing these overly played Tik Tok songs and that's why she went home honestly, and I know the internet is up in arms about her leaving this soon, & I get it but I honestly wished she would've chosen a way better song that really showcases her range, like Bull does. Even though he picks songs that a lot of people know, they make sense & actually compliment his voice/showcases so many things he can do vocally, while the songs she chose were too one note for me.
Having said that, she was revealed to be by no one's surprise at all (well maybe the judges but they're always slow):
Toni Braxton (in a mask)
Tumblr media
First of all, yeah not surprised... Moving on, she was wearing a mask under the costume's mask wow (because she has lupus so that means her immune system aka the system that tries to keep you from getting sick is weakened because it thinks everything even healthy cells that are part of your normal bodily functions are dangerous so they destroy them... Long story short, covid& lupus are not a good combo so she wears a mask as added protection). The thing about masks when you are singing (which is why most singers take off their masks when they sing), it makes your voice muffled and not as clear sounding no matter what mic you use. So yeah her voice might have sounded a tiny bit muffled but it was great considering. Was it the biggest upset in masked singer history? No, Tori Kelly getting eliminated in season 4 was, but this might be a close 3rd (2nd is a tie between Jesse McCartney not winning season 3 & Jojo not winning season 5). Anyways, let's talk clues:
Now, onto our remaining 4, starting with our OGs and ending with our 1st wildcards of the season:
1. Bull 🐂
Tumblr media
Performance: This time around, he sang What Hurts The Most by Rascal Flatts and god damn the man got range, he started the song with a whistle tone run thing idk what’s called but it was punchy and amazing! He used a song a lot of people are super familiar and showcased a ton of rasp and range to his voice, from high to low notes he hit. I’m obsessed with this performance, it was probably my favorite of the night!
For my guess, I am still sticking with (and will fight anyone who disagrees, that’s how sure I am, my mind isn’t changing here):
Todrick Hall, ladies and gents and non-binary folks
Tumblr media
Ok, I’ve known about Todrick for years, so much so that I didn’t even need someone to explain to me the clues (usually I do some research on the celebs, because I am not a celeb expert by any means, but he is the one I have done the least research on), like I figured some of them on my own which very rarely happens (if I see another ex Disney or Nick star, it will happen again possibly). Having said that, let’s look at them sweet (almost sweeter than the donut he is holding in that picture) clues that seal the deal for me (which as you can probably tell from the title are back to school themed):
Marched to the beat of his own drum in high school= he was openly gay in high school which was probably a bit rare in Texas
Disney concert hall= 2 things: before Idol, Todrick actually worked as a cast member at Disney World in Hollywood Studios and one of his most viral videos on his YouTube channel (and one of the ways I discovered him online) was called Evolution of Disney, which currently has 13 million views.
Cheerleaders in his locker clue= he actually really was a cheerleader in high school
2. Skunk 🦨
Tumblr media
Performance: Ok, so I take back everything I said in my last recap here, because her performance of It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World by James Brown was a total 180 from her last performance! Like this was the kind of performance I was expecting from her, and she delivered in all her soulful, diva goodness! She sang this song to filth, it was the perfect song for her voice because it showcased her range and you can tell she was connected to the song, showcasing emotion from under the mask. It was fantastic and I really hope she sticks to these kinds of songs honestly because she is so good, like I hope they don’t make her sing super current pop songs, because she isn’t pop… anything rock, soul, R&B, or even funk works amazing with her tone. You can tell this isn’t her first rodeo performing so having said all that…
I am going to also stick with my initial guess for Skunk, who is:
Faith Evans
Tumblr media
Alright yeah, I’m sticking with it, the voice is so similar (I used this video to voice match) but let’s get started with the clues:
Got a full ride scholarship and had to leave due to unexpected circumstances= yup, Faith left Fordham University to have a baby
Forced to take a different path= ended up singing backup in LA and moving there which in turn got her recognized by P Diddy
The vase with a D on it= she was on R&B Divas
3. Hamster 🐹
Tumblr media
Performance: Yay a new wildcard! His first performance was Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison and you can tell he’s a great singer but he’s putting on an impression (a very good one may I add) but is a comedian like he isn’t a professional singer, he’s a comedian or actor who can sing granted but is trying to do impressions to throw the judges for a loop… but I see through you Mr. Hamster…. NOW I see through you, even though at first you did confuse me as well. He was ok though, nothing insane or shocking, I predict he might go home next in this group (depending on what the new wildcards sound like and/or when the next wildcards will be integrated)
I'm gonna say I think Hamster is...
Rob Schneider (better known as Elle King’s dad)
Tumblr media
Alright, so again I had to do some voice matching because I have heard of him (mostly as Elle King’s dad haha) but never really heard him sing… if you watch him singing with his daughter, I can hear the tone and he might be putting on an Elvis style impression (which I have heard from a lot of people on the internet that he does those kinds of impressions in his stand up because he is a huge Elvis fan), but let’s look at them clues:
Famous Friends= he was on SNL and has multiple famous comedian friends like Adam Sandler & Chris Rock
Alcatraz Island= he’s from San Francisco, Cali
Locker clue is a baseball bat= hinting at a movie he was in, Benchwarmers
4. Baby 👶🏼
Tumblr media
Performance: Ok, so I had to leave the most shocking one one for last, because this one threw me for a loop. At first, he was doing the baby voice and I was like this guy sucks he’s a goner…. and then he Barry Whited me with You’re the First, the Last, My Everything, and my jaw dropped (yes I did use Barry White as a verb, I’m so sorry Barry White, you are amazing, may he Rest In Peace, like no disrespect but it is his song so I tried to do something funny there… might have not worked out how it did in my brain, but I am too far gone now). Like I didn’t expect that voice coming out of that giant creepy thing you see pictured above this unnecessarily long commentary. Even my mom was shocked, and she don’t get shocked a lot…. Anyways, onto my guess:
This might sound like a dumb troll guess, but I genuinely think Baby is...
Larry the Cable Guy
Tumblr media
Ok, ok, ok before y’all gang up on me and tell me “Ana, that’s such a Ken guess!,” I am gonna defend myself and say 1. Well Ken is now in the lead for the Golden Ear so anything can happen, and 2. Just hear me out, you’ll understand why when I explain myself. I feel like no other celebrity except Mr. “Get er Done” would put on a giant baby costume that’s borderline creepy, have an accent like that, and sound like Baby Mater from Cars (if you don’t believe it, just watch the performance, I’ll link it here and everything for you). Anyways, here are the clues that convince me and hopefully might convince you guys:
Replaced Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie= Larry starred in the direct-to-video sequel to one of his comedic hits “Jingle All the Way.”
Locker clue was failing a driver’s ed test/reference to high speed car chases= reference to his success as the voice of Mater from the Disney movie Cars
Anyways, that’s it! Tomorrow is Group B’s first performance and I can’t wait to meet the new group! I’m so excited! See you guys this weekend and I hope y’all enjoyed this recap! Don’t forget to like and comment and do all the internet things. Follow me on Twitter too, it’s @photolover82 just like this page, where I live tweet the show if you wanna check me out there! 👋🏼 Bye guys!

I Just Saw the Wicked 2019 Touring Cast and Boy Howdy, am I excited to Rant! (All Good things!)
There's a lot so buckle up your seatbealts!
So, first off, this was my first time seeing the show *cough cough* legally *cough* and I was amazed.
I instantly fell in love with the big metal dragon and nearly screamed when it moved and started blowing smoke out of its nose, as my Grandpa lied and told me, even though he's seen it 4 times, that the dragon was just decoration.
I love that the first solid 5 minutes of the show are just winged monkeys running around on the stage and looking concerned at one another before the opening number starts.
Glinda, played by Erin Mackey, was my WIFE.
During her first speaking part of "No one Mourns the Wicked," she got stuck on her big metal bubble and the ensemble had to crowd around her to help her get off, which, because coming off of the bubble was her cue to continue, led to a really long silence. But it kinda fit and showed that she hesitated to celebrate Elphaba's death so yeah! I just thought it was adorable and I admire how she was able to turn it into a cool window into her character!
When Elphaba, played by Mariand Torres, entered we all screamed for a solid 3 minutes and, after seeing her performance, she deserved a solid 8 more. I loved her so much!
I loved her early performance of Elphaba at Shiz because she played her as an angry little bean that snapped at everyone and everything instead of just shy and quiet and it worked so well, especially with how overprotective she was of Nyssa.
A girl literally faints upon seeing Elphaba and I can relate cause she was SO PRETTY!
Mariand's "Wizard and I" was so powerful and emotional at the same time I just wanted to pick her up and keep her! <3
THE 👏 GLINDA 👏 AND 👏 ELPHABA👏 HEIGHT👏 DIFFERENCE!
Usually you see Elphaba portrayed as tall while Glinda is shorter but, because Mariand was a tiny angel and Erin was a tall goddess who literally towered over Fierro without heels, it was quite the opposite and I l o v e d every second of "What is this Feeling" because of it.
I would die for tiny little ball of angry Elphaba and Tall, regal, princess Glinda holding her back from fighting everyone who dares look at them funny and you can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
Mariand did the thing where she mimicked Glinda for the "Your Voice" line and made it extra squeaky and I died.
She also, whenever Glinda had her back turned, copied her with a stupid little kicking dance and tossed her hair way too frantically and I fell in love.
For the "boo", Elphaba had to look directly up and jump at Glinda because she was so short and I squealed
Oh my God. C U R T. H A N S E N. This man was in Big Time Rush and I can not picture Fierro's entrance without the theme song ever again. (Bruh, Chill)
His choreo also had some "not-so-subtle" scarecrow like poses and taps.
Dude, he played him as such a snotty little twink and I loved it! He almost knocked down the statue in the center like eight times during "Dancing Through Life!"
His mic also made him sound like he was under water for a total of one (1) line and I snorted.
Nyssa, (sorry Mili Diaz, you were incredible and I love you,) Please exit my server.
Glinda made at least 16 Tik Tok references and I know, it's not towards the app because duh, but I'm still very conflicted.
Elphaba was S O mad at the scene with Dr. Dillamond I was so proud and in love!
E L P H A B A ' S D A N C E!
It was so good and pure and when Glinda joined she made it look so graceful!
And Elphaba looked very doubtful at first but then she looked around at everyone doing her dance and back at Glinda and she had the biggest smile on her face and tears in her eyes because she was accepted for something and it was beautiful!
Only Boc's mic was really working at this part so the "Let's DAAAANCE" reverberated deeply into my soul and stayed there for a really long time.
Popular was superb and I literally cried.
Literally.
When Erin got out of breath, she fell on the floor and just layed there for 16 counts breathing really heavily into the mic. Pure Poetry
Glinda suffocated Elphaba with hugs to her throat and swung her around like a rag doll while she just glared angry and helpless.
During "Don't Make me laugh" Glinda pushed her hand into Elphaba's face and gently and slowly set her back on her bed and if that ain't the biggest mood.
So many kicks and giggles I LOVE ERIN MACKEY!
When Glinda fell into Elphaba's arms crying after Fierro ran away at the train scene she took up half of her body and I just needed to write that out.
The egg-like Emerald City suits without arms that extended their necks and twirled them like lassos. Need I say more?
Elphaba's teary smile at "Finally, no one's looking or staring at me!" And then Glinda takes off her glasses and grabs her hand saying that she looked as beautiful as an emerald and... A C K
Upon meeting the scary robo wizard, Glinda got scared and tried to hide her 5'9 body behind little 5'1 Elphie and she looked so protective and ready to throw down I loved it!
Monkeys. Monkeys. Monkeys.
"Let her go! It's not her that you want! Its ME!" She sounded so powerful and angry I would die for her.
The part where Elphaba's begging Glinda to go with her but she's too focused on the fact that she's shaking and ties that spooky cape around her shoulders.
Mariand's "Defying Gravity" was so strong and beautiful with all of her God-tier belts and riffs I could not stop smiling and when she finally flies I yelped because you always hear about how cool it is and looks but then you really S E E it and it's beyond words! I had to do nothing and breathe for a second afterwards to find my bearings!
I loved Erin's "Thank Goodness" a lot. She poured a lot of emotion and beautiful vocals into it and just... god, she's gorgeous!
At the part where Elphaba appeared in the closet in Nyssa's office and the mirror became see through I heard a kid behind me exclaim "Zoo Wee Mama" and I won't be the same.
I don't remember Nyssa being so horrible but... *shrug* She gets it from her Dad I guess.
I love that Boc's reaction to finding out Nyssa can walk is just, "oh, good! Now you can work on this whole walking thing and get tf away from me! This worked out perfectly!" Same, boi.
I loved! LOVED! Nyssa Rose's song with a passion and the way her words get all twisted and angry literally talking about how she's going to rip Boc's heart out for leaving her and it gave me a good amount of spooks.
"Don't say I'm beautiful. You don't need to lie to me." B A B Y
"My Family has a Castle! No one lives there or will see us besides the guards!" "Where do you live, now?" "... The other castle." Oh sweetie.
Glinda, you deserve so much more than scarecrow boy and I would die for you!
Elphaba's voice drops at least 8 octaves during her line in "As long as Your Mine" The "For the first time I feel...
Wicked
I have never been more physically and emotionally attracted to a green lady Other than Princess Fiona
Also, there was so much smoke during that song that I could hear some Orchestra members cough.
During that scene with Elphaba's and Glinda's argument at Nyssa's "Funeral", while preparing to fight Glinda twirls her wand and strikes at Elphie like she came out of the Karate Kid.
Elphaba's witch laugh after Glinda slaps her followed by the most serious "Feel Better?"
Both Fierro and Glinda yell at Elphaba to leave before she gets hurt and I feel things because of that.
While Fierro is fake/real threatening Glinda with a gun, she just tearfully shakes her head in a silent plea and he INSTANTLY drops his gun. I love 'em
The way Glinda's "Fierro" melts into Elphaba's "FIERRROOO!" Love.
"No Good Deed" will always be my favorite song. ITS SO GOOD! Mariand's voice was incredible and her riffs and belts added so much!
During Elphaba's little "let all of OZ be agreed I'm wicked through and through," she makes her voice all scary and raspy, but it melts back into her own voice and beautiful despair at "since I can not succeed, Fierro saving you!"
NO GOOD DEED! 10/10 LOTSA SMOKE
March of the Witch hunters always has and will give me chills. Nothing more to say. Just one good bop.
This is the part where I cry too much.
"For Good" was gorgeous and I cried. A lot. A lot.
Elphaba kisses Glinda's hands and wipes her tears away.
Glinda runs her hands across and straightens Elphaba's hat and OH MY GOD!
It hurts how frantically Elphaba hides Glinda to protect her! Side note, I would also die for Chistery.
At their final moments together, Elphaba blows Glinda a kiss and then proceeds to get "murdered" in a really cool way by Dorthy.
Glinda's "Elphie!?" Is so tragic and panicked I was struggling to make it through, and then she grabbed her hat and cried into it and I was long gone.
Fierro adopts spooky Scarecrow movements at the end which I think is really cool and he also mimics Elphaba's "Don't lie to me!" Line.
Before Elphaba leaves, she becomes entranced by Glinda's beautiful singing, like she's thinking of telling her she's okay, but then she turns around and walks through the door with Fierro.
The last thing we see of Elphaba is her wearing her signature hat and walking into dust with Fierro. The last thing we see of Glinda is her sobbing into Elphaba's book in her bubble.
In conclusion, IM NOT OKAY!
Nah, Fam! But seriously! Mariand and Erin's vocals and performances were to die for! It succeeded my wildest expectations! I had so much fun and would 100% recommend seeing the show if you haven't seen it or want to see it a 19th time. Both are just as valid. :)

20/1
Got back from LA. Was surreal. Nothing really crazy happened, it was more seeing how a different type of people lived. As far as the music went, that was really cool.
I never really explained it properly. The label I’m with are planning to get ‘influencers’ to get on board with the company in terms of getting their name on the social media world. If an online personality tells their many followers to download their app...well it makes sense really. I got a phone call the other day saying they wanted to fly me down to LA in for a night in a mansion streamed live on their app. This night would be hosted by an influencer called Kristen Hancher who has 5.5 million followers. I think she got big on a music app called Musical.ly which is now called Tik Tok. I’m beginning to feel old. Basically you mime along to your favourite songs whilst videoing yourself with quirky visuals. She has a massive audience now and a little mention of the company, as I said, can be huge. If I recalled corechley, Beiber tweeted that song ‘Call Me Maybe’ and kickstarted her career.
Anyway this gig is in a mansion, and when I say mansion I mean it: Hollywood Hills, swimming pool, massive open plan rooms, you name it. They organise the people, they have the location, they’ve got the advertising...the music? It’s really funny, at every level I’ve played, the organisation and knowledge of the musical equipment/set up does not correlate to how big the event is; meaning even if the gig is in the living room or if it’s at a 500 people great music venue, it does not guarantee that there will be a better set up at the music venue. At this gaff there was no mixer or mic stand, and the mics were battered and there was very few people who knew what to do. Of course once it was discussed, the people there had the money to go out and get the mixer and everything else but I find it amazing, music is sometimes the afterthought. In a way though, it’s a business, and that’s what I’m beginning to see. The thought and care was put into the connections, the venue, the people, the social media. These factors are just as important as the music and maybe be even more important. So we set up in this crazy place and the gig is going to be pretty much a big house party, hosted by Kristen.
9pm comes and I do my set. It went ok, I was a bit nervous in places, I don’t think the people who were there knew exactly what was going on too much but it went ok. After that I’m in room full of influencers and their friends. Amongst these influencers were models and also a dog. Yes a dog, and this big husky has 1 million followers. Dyed pink ears, and a dyed pink tuft right bang on his head. There was a start up t shirt printing business who were doing t shirts right then and there and the guy who owned the dog had a t shirt made with ‘IM RICH, YOU’RE BROKE’ on the back. As the party moved on to bedroom, and I don’t mean that in a sexual way, the bedroom was as big as a luxury flat with open plan bathroom with open fireplace. 100 people in there easssssy. I got talking to the owner of the place. He told me he preheated his bath (water tap coming from the ceiling) for his foursome that night. I said what? as in say that again. He goes shhhhhh my girlfriends right behind me > meaning she wasn’t going to be involved. He showed me a stash of chewing viagra gum (?) and a liquid siphilia??? (no idea what the word is) which gives you a hard on for a very long time. On the huge balcony I was talking to a few people who were all smoking legal mary jane, think it was legalised back in late 2015 in California. And you could tell even by the smell how much nicer it is. I’m not a smoker myself but you could also tell how shit UK weed is even by the smell, mixed with whatever knows what.
Some of these convos were half a minute insta name swaps, they didn’t really feel like real convos. It felt like a status party, and to be fair, these were people’s livings, it was turn up at a party, build ya rep, be seen. I have to say everyone was very positive. That’s a very American trait that I admire, it’s all self belief, you can do it, believe in yourself. Over here there is that respect of people trying their best, but only when you’ve done it. During the journey, it’s not perceived as cool. Once you’ve got there, the destination and journey in hindsight is seen as cool. There’s a lot of cynicism here, a stay in your lane kind of outlook, we Brits are veeeery sarcastic. There’s a lot of positives in that; the ability to form great relationships through taking the piss which is necessary to every friendship, humour, modesty. But it does create boundaries for people attempting to go outside themselves. In America, I think it’s different. There’s an appreciation for someone’s dream no matter how hyperbolic, unrealistic, crazy, foreign, strange etc. I do like that. And you could say that there lacks an honesty that people need to hear sometimes which can big up your ego a bit too much, but it also gives you a chance to develop the absurd which can lead to great things. I saw this video once where someone said genius is a misunderstood idea. It isn’t a gift that a tiny percentage have, it is in fact a gift that most people have but which gets hindered by heard mentality, self doubt and a societal reaction which suppresses your intrigue and capacity to learn and experiment. This results in doing nothing, conforming to doing what how the majority live, not exploring your potential. Practice instead of natural ability.
I was wrestling it in my head a bit. Music wise all this status stuff, the schmoozing, would benefit my music. It really doesn’t come natural to me. I can play, do the gig, I can come off stage, talk about the reasons why I do it to people, but to promote myself, get people to listen/follow me, it doesn’t come natural to me. I am learning to do it a bit more, in the right moments but it’s something I have to fight with myself in order to do. Music aside, my career aside, I think if you delve in that way of doing things, way of living almost, you do lose a bit of your humanity. I really don’t mean this in a condescending way but it really seems to me by judging, evaluating or even living all of your life in the hands of strangers’ admiration seems to quite dissociative, if that’s the right word. I mean maybe people would say it’s narcissistic but to be honest I think it’s actually a lack of self knowledge which is the issue. I mean if these influencers’ followers just packed up and unfollowed them, I would like to think these people would have enough passions, desires, self sureness to sustain their worthiness in life. Don’t get me wrong, if all my friends decided never to see me again, I would be extremely sad, but I could draw on the things that I like and know about myself and continue to live my life; I have built up a healthy relationship with myself in the last few years without the need to of others to verify what I do. I have to say that’s the thing that is good about being single: you deal with your own shit. Any problems cannot be put on someone else, you have to sort out your own shit. I guess the downfall of being single is no one is there to call out your shit if you’re being a dick or fucking up in one area. I’m lucky i have friends who can call me out though. it’s about looking at the family and friends’ reactions to what you’re doing and taking literally a poll of what they say. To be fair, I don’t know if most of them at some point would have judged a music career to have been a good decision. I guess it must be a continuous balancing act between choosing your own vision, desires and stubbornness and deciding when to learn from other people’s opinions. Trying to make it as objective as possible.
At the same time, do I wanna be that guy by not doing something which may benefit my music? Something that I might naturally reject, like I said before, for 1 minute of shame? It’s a balancing act. Too much of that world can drive me crazy, lose touch with my human side. Too less of it, attempting a music career, may affect me down the line. I think it’s a balancing act, and one which I’m trying to work on figure out at each step.

Useful Tools For Becoming A Pro Vlogger
Vlogging has become more and more popular in recent years, and for good reason. Studies have shown that 85% of millennials have purchased a product after watching a promotional video, and major social media players like Instagram and Facebook have slowly been making videos a larger part of their platforms.
While vlogging (video blogging) still hasn’t completely taken over blogging as the main way that people consume information online, it’s still a very important aspect of content creation.
The best way to run an online business these days is to use a combination of blogging, vlogging and social media.
But, how do you get into vlogging? What tools are essential for the job and what kind of software should you be using to create your videos?
In this article, I’m going to break down the best tools that you can use to create your own vlogs online.
Choosing a Platform
While YouTube still owns the market share for vloggers due to its massive audience and easy monetization functionality, it’s running up against some competition in recent years.
Since the Adpocalypse of 2018, more and more vloggers are looking to alternatives for YouTube and when they make the switch, they’re often still making a good living on different platforms.
Instagram TV & Instagram Live
Since June 2018 when Instagram announced that they reached 1 billion users, vloggers, photographers and videographers have been flocking to the platform to create their own short videos and vlog-style content.
Instagram Live, IG TV, and Stories are three more ways that the platform allows its users to get creative while a wide variety of advertising options make this a viable option for professionals.
Facebook & Facebook Live
Facebook may not be the first platform that comes to mind when you’re thinking about vlogging, but with the platform moving more and more towards video, it’s no surprise that vloggers are making a go at it on Facebook.
With the massive audience that Facebook has, the ability to save live streams permanently and the functionality for premiering a new video on the platform, Facebook is becoming a vloggers paradise.
Twitch
While Twitch started out as a video streaming platform aimed at gamers, it’s started to take a new form in recent years. Because Twitch is mainly geared towards live video content, it makes it one of the best platforms for actually engaging with your followers.
The main issue that vloggers complain about with this platform is the limited advertising opportunities as it doesn’t have the same audience as some others listed in this post.
Tik Tok
This platform has been exploding recently and is the go-to for short videos. There are challenges, quick clips, funny vids and more.
YouTube
Still the grand-daddy of all the vlogging platforms, YouTube has seen the birth of vlogging superstars like Casey Neistat and even attracted (with some controversy) Hollywood A-listers like Will Smith.
Even though YouTubes highly regulated advertising algorithms make it easy to get demonetized, this is still the choice platform for most vloggers.
How Much Money Can a Vlogger Make?
According to Forbes, the highest-paid YouTubers in 2018 were pulling in more than $20 million.
That doesn’t mean that the minute you start a YouTube Channel you’ll start earning money from it. In fact, you need to reach 10,000 total views before you can monetize any of your videos.
On average, a YouTuber can make around $1 per 1,000 views. This means that if you have a lot of videos on your channel and you pull in over 100,000 views per month, you’ll only be making $100 per month.
To make money as a professional blogger, you’ll have to work hard and keep at it.
With recent restrictions on where ads are placed (not just on YouTube but on all platforms), it’s best to be as G-rated as possible if you want to avoid demonetization.
Keep in mind that revenue is based on actual video views, not subscribers.
There are some YouTubers out there who only have 10,000 subscribers, but still make $100,000 per year, while others have a hundred thousand and only make a fraction of that.
A Good Camera Kit
Not surprisingly, to make great videos you should have a good camera.
But, vlogs don’t typically go for that perfectly polished cinematic look. Rustic home filming is what made this type of content popular, so it’s important to keep a natural and authentic feel in your videos.
This means that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a cinematic camera to make great vlogs. Huge YouTubers like Casey Neistat use the Canon EOS 70D which retails on Amazon for around $850 with a lens and just over $1,200 with the full “video creator kit” with a microphone.
Even these are a bit of a splurge for the average video creator, particularly if you’re going to be publishing videos on Instagram and Facebook as opposed to YouTube.
For the perfect balance between price, convenience and quality, there’s one camera that I recommend for vloggers over all others.
The Canon G7x Mark II
This is the camera that we’ve been using to create our videos for years. It has quick autofocus, a good range and does pretty good in low light.
There’s a flip around screen so that you can see yourself while filming and the touch display is easy to navigate and very intuitive.
The main con of this camera is that there’s no audio out, meaning you’ll have to make do with the built-in microphone.
There’s a little trick you can use to significantly improve the sound quality of the tiny built-in mic, but with that being the camera’s only major flaw, I’m hoping that when Canon comes out with the next model, they’ll rectify it.
Update 2020: we now vlog using the Sony RX100 Mark 7 and really like how it focuses on our faces. But, the background isn’t always in focus as well.

DJI Mavic Air
These days, basically every video creator online has their own drone. And why not? They’re easy to learn to fly, they’re affordable and with recent improvements in technology, they’re incredibly compact and easy to travel with.
I currently have the DJI Spark, but I purchased it before the company came out with the much more professional and equally portable DJI Mavic Air. If you’re looking for a drone to travel with and make great quality videos, I’d go with the Air.

GoPro Hero 7 Black
I still think that this is the best action camera on the market and it should be in any video creators backpack. DJI recently came out with their own action camera that looks almost exactly like the GoPro.
It’s called the DJI Osmo Action and while it has a useful front-facing LCD screen for video creators, I’ve reviewed dozens of videos and read articles online and I still think that the GoPro has a higher dynamic range and can take better photos and videos than the Osmo Action.

A Fast Computer
Video editing takes up a significant amount of CPU and RAM so if you plan to be a vlogger who edits a lot of video, a fast computer should be your number one investment.
If you already have a PC or an older Mac (pre-2015), then you can upgrade the ram and hard drive to get more speed out of what you already have.
We’ve also written a post about how to upgrade a mac here.
Even though Macs don’t come without their problems, I still use a 2018 MacBook Pro for all of my video editing. But if you’re a PC user, there are good options for you as well.
MacBook Pro
If you’re a Final Cut Pro user, then you’ll probably want to have a Macbook. They’re slim, compact, durable and when you have an SSD hard drive and 16+ GB of RAM in them, they’re extremely fast.

Lenovo ThinkPad
For PC users, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is probably your best bet. Users of this computer absolutely love the best-in-class keyboard, and the 8GB DDR4 RAM +16GB Intel Optane memory means that this computer is quick to edit.

Proper Video Editing Software
50% of what makes a good video is the actual footage you take, and 50% is how well you edit the footage that you have. If you want to be a great video creator on YouTube, Facebook or on any platform, then you’ll want to ensure you have good editing software.
Not surprisingly, not all software is created equal, and depending on your editing abilities, not all software will be right for you.
I’ve probably gone through a half a dozen different types of video editing software over the years and it’s not easy to change between them and try to relearn the basics of each.
Video Editing Software For Beginners
When you’re first starting out, you don’t need all of the bells and whistles that come with some of the more advanced video editors out there. Sometimes less is more. This is the case with the Filmora Video Editor from iSkysoft.
Not only does Filmora come with cool and easy-to-use features right out of the box like colour enhancements, professional-looking titles and layovers, it also works on both PC and Mac, making it far more versatile than some other editing software out there.
If your goal is to make fun, high-quality videos quickly, then Filmora might be the perfect choice for you. If you’re currently using a free video editor like Windows Movie Maker, then this is an obvious upgrade.
It’s not expensive, it’s easy to learn and it’s very intuitive. Coming in at just $60 for a lifetime purchase, it’s nearly one-tenth the cost of many of its competitors.
Video Editing Software For Pros
While Filmora does have a lot of professional features like audio enhancements, picture-in-picture editing and green screen keyframing, there is some other software out there that is more geared towards the full-time professional.
Final Cut Pro
This software is only available for Mac and it’s the one I’ve used to edit most of our videos. Final Cut Pro has been around for years and it’s one of the most popular video editing software out there.
The main restricting factor for new vloggers is the price tag.
Final Cut Pro is going to cost you $300 or more, and there are a significant amount of add-ons that you may want to purchase down the road.
Adobe Premiere Pro
This is another expensive pro software, but this one isn’t at all geared towards the beginner. While Final Cut Pro and Filmora have plenty of templates and easy-to-use pre-built titles and overlays to choose from, most of what you’ll find in Premiere Pro has to be built from scratch.
While it’s one of the favourite software for professional video editors, it’s hard to learn and also comes with a hefty price tag.
In Conclusion
If you’re just starting out as a video creator, the goal should be to spend as little money as possible, while still creating great videos.
That’s why I don’t recommend purchasing a $1,200 camera, a $1,500 drone and $500+ of software, just to create videos on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram when you could probably create equally good videos for a fraction of the cost.
There’s always a balance between quality, convenience, and cost and you should take that into consideration when purchasing your equipment for video editing.
If you want to become a vlogger today, you can do so with an inexpensive laptop, a cheap GoPro camera and affordable software like Filmora. As you grow, you can upgrade where you feel you need it, but the key is to just get started.
