Biography: 

The son of a hardworking, humble governess and her tailor husband, Suta and his little sister Aahana were loved but poor, so he was determined to make life easier on her. He grew up. He studied, learned his letters and his arithmetic, and then left to fight, all the while proud of the shifter he was and proud of the man he had become. 

While Vaagh were certainly less accepted than most, Suta did not hide who he was, not from those he cared for. Eventually, he found a wife and they settled down. They had a daughter, beautiful Tiegan, and he cherished her above all else in his life. She, too, was Vaagh, and he protected his cub as fiercely as his father had protected his own. 

When the time came, the Season upon them, Suta determined that she would have a successful match, allowing his daughter to follow her heart. His station, now a colonel in Her Majesty's Royal Army, meant that they did not want for much. It is this position, however, that forces him onto the sidelines of his daughter's season and into the pathway of another's. 

While her father was away, Suta chaperones a young woman in want of a husband. Her match that Season was good. This year, he is to sponsor young Luca Paguro, his uncle an old friend from the military. Suta, too, has remarried to Paulette de la Croix, and they've a number of children. However, Suta's injury has strained their relationship, and it is in Suta's hope of bringing her back to Swynlake for the Season that her spirits will brighten.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS (IF APPLICABLE): One year divorced from the other lead singer and guitarist of the band, Imran Qureshi (FC: Riz Ahmed, a fellow Vaagh) with whom she has two children. The divorce was amicable and they still play together in the band

BIOGRAPHY: Tigg's band, Trailerpark Princess, first got the opportunity to take a serious crack at music in 2024 and they moved to London. They signed a record deal within 6 months, put out an album, it was received well.

They carried on like that for a few albums, but it wasn't until the original co-lead singer, Jamie Newton, departed the band in 2027 and was replaced with Imran Qureshi, a London-based artist from Pakistan, that Trailerpark Princess really found their footing in the industry. Tigg and Imran's voices worked well together for harmonies and more importantly, he was just a better guitarist than Jamie had been. He could explore more sounds when he could play Like That.

One night, after a show, Imran confronted Tigg as they were in the elevator in the building they both lived in. He looked her in the eye and asked her if she was just pretending not to know he was a vaagh too. She blinked at him, confused, as...oh. Oh! It made sense now ,why her tiger had been going absolutely insane around him! She didn't answer with words so much as she kissed him. He picked her up and carried her over to the couch. She bit his lip, hard. He unbuckled his belt. The rest is a bandom fanfic.

Were they in love? Maybe? Tigg did -- does -- love him, Imran was and still is important to her. But did she feel butterflies, warm fuzzies, did she experience or crave romance? Maybe not? But she was happy, she knew that for sure. They got married in late 2030, after Tigg got pregnant, mostly because that just seemed like the right thing to do and because his parents were just conservative enough to think you should marry someone if you get them pregnant, but not so conservative to disapprove of their son being in a rock band and dropping F-bombs on stage. Well. Maybe they weren't too crazy about that second half.

Imran chose their son's middle name and daughter's first name to reflect his Pakistani Muslim heritage, and Tigg, who still didn't know her heritage beyond "of the Indian subcontinent" had Shere help pick their son's first name and daughter's middle name to reflect his Indian Hindu heritage. Their family was happy, Tigg was happy, but...being married eventually just didn't...neither Tigg nor Imran wanted it anymore, so they divorced. They have keys to each other's apartments and frankly make being divorced look easy. Tigg couldn't be more thankful that if she did end up marrying someone, it was Imran, even if their family ultimately made more sense with them as co-parents who are best friends and bandmates.

This will be very incoherent because I have!! So many feelings about these two that it makes it impossible to put into words but I am going to try so lol bare with me here!! 

I am a sucker for the trope of found family!!! It’s a staple and no matter what form it’s in or how many times I see it, it makes me go insane and these two are no exception! I love how different they are? Like Shere seems like a very quiet but still sassy, bookish professor while Tigg is very loud and blunt. But they’re both hilarious and bounce off one another so well. 

They have both been through a lot in their lives!! Shere losing his family and his father being not a great person (putting it mildly aha) and then Tigg being in the foster system then the streets and having to deal with a whole stalker. And both of them sharing that stigma around them being a shifter, both from Mundus and Magicks. They have both experiences loss and loneliness, but they’re both so funny and joke-y about life!! I think they’re an interesting take on the trope that’s made a big climb in popularity of “single dad and his adopted child.” 

And they have one another!!! I love that they were able to find one another and just adopt the other in as family, that they just refer to one another as their father and their daughter. If there is one thing that people with trauma deserve it is to find people who love and accept them and getting to keep those people. I like that these two show up for one another and that even though they are not related by blood and didn’t grow up together, they’re still family!!! And they care about one another and will protect one another and just!! I love them, they make me feel so soft and yet can make me burst out laughing with just how funny their inner thoughts and dialogue are.

BDRPWriMo Task #9: Petition To Town Board

Facts the Board Isn’t Privy to: Elena spent hours, hoooours working on her petition presentation. She had Naomi, Goliath, and Nala proofread everything. Goliath lowkey ghostwrote some of the really fancy sounding clauses at Elena’s insistence. ‘I want to sound like I speak English with my father’s vocabulary, I want it to sound like I am as smart as I am in Spanish,’ she said, while holding up a dictionary. She practiced her verbal presentation for a total time of four hours, purposely chipping away at her accent like an actor so make sure she’d be understood clearly. Naomi had to shove hot tea into her hands to make her nurse her throat and stop practicing.

While I am lucky enough to enjoy the safety of Swynlake, many of the people my family has been honored to be stewards of since the seventeenth century are not experiencing this reality. Their lives have also been thrown into chaos since the coup of 2015, subsequent dictatorial regime, and civil conflict the country is now mired in. Much of the international community has looked the other way, or blatantly slammed their door shut to Avaloran fleeing violence, political imprisonment, and persecution. 

Countries that haven’t shut my people out, then, carry more than their fair share of the weight of their duty to humanity. Humanitarian aid groups work under the radar inside of Avalor with what funds they have available to help IDPs. It is both of these efforts I aim to aid with this event.

Budget: No funds required from the Board, only their blessing to use the space. InterPride has been working closely with Princess Elena to iron out funding. Additionally, charitable funds have been pledged by anonymous donor G.V. and Avaloran-born American singer Bianca Castillo Vargas, paternal aunt to the Crown Princess.

Biography

Vishaka Chakraborty entered her season several years ago. For the lady, it was a quiet affair. She met her match during the opening ball and the two courted throughout the season. The Lord Chakraborty was kind, gentle, and well-intentioned. They were married in a quiet affair, both only gentry. This was enough for them, however. They settled in a little flat in London. As a successful physician, Lord Chakraborty was often busy and many attributed this to the lady’s lack of children. 

Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Lord and he was killed in an accident.

 Vishaka was beside herself with grief and left London to move back with her family in the countryside. She returns to London for the Season only at the behest of a dear family friend, Miss Tiegan Khan, who requested her as chaperone for her upcoming first season. 

Vishaka hopes to assist Miss Khan in finding a suitable match and, hopefully, avoiding the same fate as her chaperone.

Unlike what he had believed all those years ago, Shere Khan stayed in Swynlake.

He had a daughter. She moved away. She became semi-famous, and he was proud of her, spoke about Tiegan to anyone who would listen. He continued working with the VFD until he could not any longer, until his leg pained him far too much to go without the cane. So, he teaches, as he always has, eventually becoming the head of Magizoology.

He goes by Suta, and carves out a life unconnected to the man who had been his father. He thinks the old tiger has died, and that is alright with him. Shere has a new life, one with a partner who cares about him, grandchildren to dote upon.

He is happy, even if it is a simple life. He is glad to have finally found peace, after so long without it.

Tigg wasn’t looking for an existential crisis when she logged into Twitter yesterday, but yet! There one was!

She’d never heard the terms aromantic or greyromantic before, and while aromantic didn’t seem to pertain to her at first...learning about the word greyromantic, reading that line about it including romantic attraction that’s weak, or that only comes under certain conditions, a part of Tigg that she didn’t know existed felt seen. 

Like, capital ‘S’ Seen.

At the same time, she didn’t know what to make of it.

She’d DM’d Olaf to see if he’d want to get a milkshake with her, and the chipper Twitter guy agreed so like?? yay!

“What’s your shake of choice?” Tigg asked, sliding into the booth across from him, asking the question to break the ice.

Hit Every Branch Falling Out The Dumbass Tree || OPEN

Tigg was trying to snatch a stray cat with a half chewed off ear to take it to the vet. Thing was, it, like many strays, sensed the tiger beneath her skin, the predator, and was like “fuck that shit!” and scurried up a tree.

She was disheartened, but not dissuaded. Ha! She could climb trees too, silly cat! She got a running start and leapt up to catch onto the lowest hanging branch. As she pulled the rest of her body up to swing her legs up onto where three branches jutted from the trunk, it crossed her mind that her days spent on a stripper pole were being put to good use. Tigg’s upper body strength was really nothing to sneeze at.

Nor was her determination.

The latter, however? Probably worth reigning in. For it wasn’t long before she made a crucial error in her hot pursuit. Overestimating the reliability of a branch and underestimating her own weight, Tigg began to crawl out away from the trunk at between four and five meters up. Her confidence in the branch as she shimmied across it was pretty sure, until she made to reach for the cat.

Sss….na-!

“Fuckin’ ‘ell!” Tigg cried out, realizing she was, put simply, fucked.

-ap!

Tigg squealed as the branch gave out, prepared to be a Tigg pancake, but when she cartoonishly landed haphazardly cradled between twin boughs a little under two and a half meters off the ground, she let out an interrupted victory cry of-

“Not dead, ye- oh, oh-!!!!” Because while her fall was delayed, the jolt off the snapped branch landing on the branch supporting her lower half caused her legs to slip. And the upper half was only barely supported by her mid-back having slammed onto that branch’s twin.

And her descent continued until - impact!

“Uuuugh. Well. Still not dead.”

Suta Khan has the blood of the deserts in his veins, or so his grandmother always said. When he was five winters old, that was the first time he Changed, slipping into the mind of a falcon flying overhead. He could see all, hear all. The experience was short-lived but its impact changed Tanvi Mukherjee’s son forever. The Muherjee family was matrilineal, taking a lover to ensure children and then killing them when their purpose was fulfilled. So Iti, the Old One, had done. So, too, had Tanvi. As such, Suta never met his father. He never wanted to. He had his mother,his grandmother, and the power of the Old Gods that surged in his veins. Eventually, he, too, would find a woman and she would bear him a daughter. However, she was not killed by his hand, as was the Mukherjee way, but through the simple fact that the birth was hard and the labor was long. Tiegan came into this world screaming, and her mother left it in silence. 

Suta loved his daughter and proudly watched her grow among the other women of his family, hungry for power and knowledge and blackened by their dislike for the mainland and its kings. The coup at the Red Keep had taken the queen and, with it, the Mukherjee’s allegiance. Though their loyalty was fickle, they were honorable, and aligning himself with House Drakken became a matter of patience and pride rather than duty. 

Perhaps, too, Suta could be of service. His skinchanging has been honed to a finely edged blade. As a member of the Drakken household, he may hear and see all, though few would know just what power he possesses…

D is for Dangerous || Clash

After receiving the rather alarming ‘gift’ in the mail from the man he’d called father, a man whom the Vaagh had believed to be dead for nearly three decades, as he’d heard nor seen him since the night that still haunted him, Shere Khan swallowed down the gnawing pit of apprehension in his stomach and continued on with his morning. 

He kissed Tiegan on her head as he flew out the door, made her promise him that she would call once she got to and from work like he always did (though with, perhaps, a bit more...force behind the request today) and grabbed his chai to go. 

The watch on his wrist said he had quite a bit of time before his meeting, but there was a hair trigger in his chest that growled and snarled and snapped and told him he needed to seek out the threat that was lurking in these streets he had grown to feel had become a home. Shere swallowed it down with his next gulp of his drink, grimacing at the heat of it burning down his throat. 

That was also, incidentally, when his injured side collided with another man, drawing a curse from the Vaagh and nearly tipping him arse over teakettle. As it were, he just dropped the bag from his shoulder and screwed his eyes shut, praying that the burning on his hand wouldn’t lead to burns and that the Tiger wouldn’t start snarling like it had wanted all morning. 

“Shit,” he whispered, eyes cracking open to glance over at the man who’d collided with him. His face was unfamiliar, but there was something about the scent of him--sharp, clean, with something else hidden beneath it--that set off a few indicators in his brain. Shere straightened himself up from where he’d leaned into the wall of the nearest shop and forced his fingers to loosen their white-knuckled grip on his cane. “I didn’t spill anything on you, did I?”

Upon waking up from Swynlake's most recent town dreamscape, Shere Khan had been pleasantly surprised to find that he had not died. However, what was, perhaps, more disconcerting was the dream's ability to manipulate his own thoughts and his wanting of a family. Tiegan was his daughter, that much was clear, and the dream had known that, but he had been given the care of another young woman, too. That just made his chest ache.

He would not comment upon the fact that Tiegan had been his biological daughter there, that he had had a wife. It was a bit too close to a nerve he didn't know he'd had.

To forget about that ache, that nerve, he had sunk into a favored hobby of his: drawing. A skill he had perfected during his stint as a medical resident, Shere now used it to amuse himself when he was not lecturing or using it to draw diagrams of the creatures he spoke about. Illustration was one of his most recent forays into the craft and, as such, he wanted to find a few guides on the subject.

Which was how he found himself stepping into the comic store in town for the first time, intent on perusing the shelves. He had only been there for perhaps a minute or so when another man popped up, one whom he recognized as the owner (and board member) Al McWiggin.

"Hello," he said, smiling slightly as he adjusted the spectacles that sat on the bridge of his nose. "Would you be able to tell me a bit about the illustration books you have?"

It was good to be teaching again, certainly after the weekend he had had. While he tried to keep out of Tiegan’s business, as she was a grown woman, her behavior after the attack continued to worry him, and he had no clue what to do with it all. Particularly when she wouldn’t broach the subject, or even speak of it at all. Thankfully, the man who had done it was behind bars and would be so for a very long time. 

Yet, the shadow of the impact of his actions still remained. 

It meant sleepless nights and worry for Dr. Khan, but not in a way that would impact his teaching, nor his duties otherwise. 

His introductory lesson on the historical ideology and practicality of introducing “sentient” magical creatures into society and the push back of that had gone well, it seemed. Students appeared to be interested, and the ground work had been laid for class projects to come from that, focusing on the why and the how of laws centering around such beings. 

Gathering his papers up and stacking them in a neat file, Shere called out to the students filing from the lecture hall to have the course readings ready for discussion next Thursday before sighing through his nose. A moment later, he glanced up, surprised, to see one Eilonwy Llyr standing beside his desk. 

“What can I do for you, Miss Llyr?”

Shere Khan was going on a date because his daughter could not keep her nose where it belonged. 

They had been sitting together one evening, Shere scratching away at a paper he had been given by one of his graduate students, Tiegann tapping away on her phone when she’d stood and dropped it on top of his work. She’d given him nothing more than an ‘chat wif these people they wanna shag ye.’

Fucking Tiegan.

She had disappeared shortly thereafter, apparently content that her father had her phone, the Hinge app and the profile she’d created for him “”out of the goodness out of her heart”” staring at him. Needless to say, he had chatted a bit with one or two of the people he’d had match with him and one of them, another single father, had agreed to dinner out of Swynlake. 

Now, he was waiting outside the restaurant they’d agreed on, leaned up against a wall to keep his leg from aching because it was cold out and wondering at the many varied and creative ways he could get back at his daughter. It was while thinking of these very creative endeavors that the man in question walked up and Shere greeted him with a polite smile.
