don't worry, all the abuse Odin put his kids through goes away because he had a throwaway line in thor 3 that he loved them and it magically fixed everything :)

you don't have to be glad that it's not worse. that goes for everything. disability, trauma, mental illness, grades, finances, whatever. you're /allowed/ to be upset that things are the way they are. you don't have to be grateful for your situation - bad is bad. somebody else's suffering doesn't make yours less painful. it's okay to be angry

Steve Rogers headcanon...
I have a headcanon that because of his traumatic (and very overlooked in the mcu) past with his father, Steve is always wary of older men.
He has to keep reminding himself that he's stronger now. That he could handle anything anyone threw his way. But he can't help the flinching and the accelerated heartbeat whenever Bruce or Thor or even Clint get too close to him. Tony intimidates him - not in any kind of egotistical way - no. But he's older, and he wields a special kind of authority that sometimes makes Steve want to curl up in a ball and hide.
He feels awful about judging his friends like that. But he can't help it.
It's why he forges a close friendship with Natasha so quickly. She's safe. He can trust her. And she doesn't remind him of Joseph Rogers, though she can put the fear of God in anyone at any given time.
And Bucky. Bucky is his safe place. Always. Because Bucky always patched him up and cleaned his wounds after Joseph came home drunk and went on a rampage. Bucky always made him feel protected. To have him in the twenty-first century means everything to Steve.
Bonus: Bruce notices and empathizes with him. He shares his own traumatic past with his own father so that Steve won't feel so alone in his fear and grief.
After that, it's a little easier for Steve to be around the men on the team.

hi. sorry for complaining to you personally but i think you'd get it. anyway twelve didn't spend 24 years on darillium for anyone to dare imply the doctor having a life has anything to do with davidtennantface

yeah i see what you're saying & i agree 100% vis a vis them being the same guy. however when 12 took breaks there was the fundamental difference of him being busy. like in s10 he had a job (in academia no less) (also guarding missy). this time the doctor is a.) unemployed and b.) not fucking river song nightly. which makes it a real break

Tony: I really don't like this whole ‘good guy, bad guy’ routine you guys have going on. Creeps me out. Thor: It is not an act. I am loud and Loki is not Tony: Not in my experience

For a character that got frozen for over 60 years and basically died and most likely suffers from massive PTSD, and had to watch their best friend die and become brainwashed, and have their other best friend die, and never really fitting into this new world nor having enough time to, and seems to always be the one sacrificing everything and never actually getting a happy ending…
Steve Rogers’ trauma sure do get overlooked 🤔

Tfw thor probably wouldn't want to tell Odin how much he hurt him and loki because he's worried Odin will strip his powers away again
YOU HAD TO SAY IT LIKE THAT???
Thor must have so much freaking trauma from getting his powers stripped away. I know a lot of people just play it off like it's something that happens to him every other week, but that probably wreaked him. Do you think that every time after this, when Odin raises his voice and gets a little to close, Thor backs up just in case?

Actually I’m thinking about it and I love the concept of both thor and frigga wanting a closer relationship, except thor thinks frigga doesn’t want that and frigga has no idea what thor likes/dislikes/wants/needs,,,,so they just stay in this weird limbo where they’re performatively close and privately distant but in actuality, neither one of them feels like the other wants a relationship past that

you don't have to live up to other people's expectations of you to be worth something. you have inherent value, and inherently deserve love and kindness. you'll find meaning in life outside of academics or skills, for there is so much more out there.
it's okay if you aren't what your parents or teachers wanted. you're you, and that'll always be enough.

Lol, I just gotta say I’m a huge fan of Loki.. I’m sorta freaking out over this man. Ok, here’s my chicken scratch drawing of the mess he’s in in season 2

Headcanon of Steve just having isolated moments of utter nostalgia, and the resultant melancholy from it is so debilitating that he has bouts of depression for days...
Like, one day while they're hunting for some random villain of the week, they get caught in a heavy downpour. And everyone filters into whatever shelter is available to keep out of the frigid wetness, but Steve... Steve remains. He stands as still as a marble statue, raindrops pelting down upon him, dripping down his skin just like it had all those years ago.
It's so oddly profound to him in that moment... that, the rain smells the same.
It looks the same.
It even sounds the same!
Then he'll remember his sweet Mama, the Howlies. Peggy's easy, confident smile. Hell- even Phillips. And Bucky. He can feel the blazing warmth of Bucky's strong hands around him, keeping him safe and cosy. The memory is so real that he takes a step forward to touch it.
That he can close his eyes and almost take himself back to the good days.
But then Tony's voice crackles to life in his ear. He's back in the future. Back in the never-ending machine of robotic nonsense. Back in the twenty-first century where the cold never seems to melt away from his skin. Where Bucky is just someone from the history books. And where there's no one on the planet who can remember him from his time.
He returns to his team with a shattered heart, thankful for the rain only because it hides his tears. But they can all see how they're red-rimmed from sheer grief. They don't poke fun at him, not even Tony is that cruel.
Instead, they get him safely back to the Tower where Bruce swaddles him in piles of blankets, Tony makes him a hot cup of cocoa and the rest of the team curls around him and keeps him warm. Safe. Protected.
After a few days of the cuddle pile (because they refuse to leave him alone, especially Thor), the nostalgia doesn't seem so bad.

but like seriously steve's introduction to the avengers is so fucking sad. like, hi welcome to the 21st century i know you're traumatized and all, but we want you to be a captain to this group of people who are all older than you and one of them will make your trauma into a joke. good luck! oh yeah, and you will be fighting aliens.
