the fact that i’ve now listened to discord by eurobeat brony 16 times in the span of 2 days is cringy but you know what? i’m past the point of caring. i can be cringe if i so choose. cringe bows to me. cringe as an entity shudders before my presence. you have never seen the power of cringe so greatly reduced before any mortal being as when it shrinks before me. in case you haven’t noticed, i’m the cringiest. i’m cringy. i don’t fit in. there was more to that meme but you think i care enough to get it right? nO because oh would you look at the time it’s diSCORDDD jesus fuck this last verse is so CRUNCHY

can I request some jealous richie kirsch smut where reader is kinda like in your pure evil fic and richie does something to piss her off ( he acts like an asshole and refuses to apologize ) so she flirts with another guy at the bar or with their neighbor
ask and ye shall receive 😈
Tumblr media
Writing is already fucking hard without distractions. She stares at the blank google doc, head cradled in her hands, thinking about how she’ll need botox to fix her sleepless face after all of this. Now, this would have been a normal fucked up writers block session, all fine, had Richie fucking Kirsch not said some fucked up shit. She should have expected it, she figures; He’s a fucking killer, low empathy and all that textbook shit.
“Maybe you’re not as good a writer as you think you are.”
He didn’t even say it maliciously, and that’s the part that hurt the most. He didn’t even seem to realize he’d said anything fucked up until she was shoving him through the doorframe and locking him out of the apartment and turning off her phone. That was hours ago.
Now she sits, and stares, and sits, and groans to herself. She’s not going to get anything written tonight. So instead, she closes her laptop and decides to go out.
With smeared eye make up, she heads to the lounge on Sunset and Santa Monica.
After a few drinks, she decides the poor sap next to her is a target for the night. Her and Richie never made anything official, so why shouldn’t she?
Fuck, hes boring. An Elon Musk bro, frequently checking his sports betting app, vaping in her face. Maybe she could get Richie to…. no. No don’t fucking think about him. She leans back on the leather couch, and debates turning her phone back on. She feels a hand snake its way around her shoulders, and she shudders at first. Fucking disgusted about his audacity. Then she smells the cologne. She doesn’t even look over, just rolls her eyes and finally turns on her phone.
18 missed calls (Richie Kirsch)
13 text messages (Richie Kirsch)
6 private Reddit messages (from Richie)
Of course. Just like she expected.
“So, bro, thanks for keeping my girl company,” he says easily, like he didn’t probably hunt her down and follow her here. The guy she was flirting with looks like he’s seen a ghost.
Mutters a lame “hey man sorry i didn’t know…” before sliding out of the booth away from you. There goes that.
She pushes her drink away from her, ready for whatever apology Richie has. Instead she gets,
“Now I have to kill that guy, you know that, right?”
She has no clue if he’s kidding, but she’s not in the mood for his drama.
She sighs, and shrugs off his arm, trying to move away, but he grabs her hips and pulls her back.
“I don’t really think it’s worth killing a guys over a writer who’s not as good as she thinks she is,” she says cooly, finally looking him in the eye.
His eyes widen, jaw slackens.
“Oh… Oh! You’re still mad at me. Oh god, baby I’m so sorry. You know you’re the only one who can tell my story. I don’t know why I said that,” he sounds genuine.
Too bad she wants to push his buttons more.
“Prove it, Kirsch.”
He leans in close, lips against the shell of her ear.
“Or what?”
A challenge.
“I’ll go fuck someone who isn’t deranged.”
The next thing she knows, her face is getting pressed down into Richie’s couch; her body bare and wracked with tremors, his body heavy on top of her.
“Who’s deranged now?” he taunts, two fingers pumping in and out of her without mercy. Without letting up despite her begging.
“Huh? Who’s the one cumming for a killer?”
She just arches her back further into him, urging him to keep going.
His free hand pulls her up by her hair until the two of them are on their knees, and he presses open mouthed kisses to her shoulder and neck.
“I’m sorry baby,” he says against her skin. He sounds like he could cry.
“I’m sorry too, Rich,” she moans, having difficulty controlling her voice.
“Never letting you out of my sight again.”
And she knows he means it. She doesn’t mind.

Planning a Hell of a Wedding | ✓ planning the bachelor party
Drabble 08 / ?
Setting: Post s5, maybe post s6?
Word count: 1.1K
Rating: T
Summary of the series: The Devil and the Detective make their way through the wedding planning checklist. One is more passionate about it than the other.  (Works as a sequel to this fic.)
Author’s note: Here’s a little more something for you to read while you wait :)
Read it on Ao3
‘Oh God,’ Dan mutters, his eyes lingering on Chloe’s new ring as he spots her and her permanently grinning fiancé at the bar. ‘We’ll have to plan Lucifer’s bachelor party, won’t we?’ He looks to Amenadiel and Maze. The former looks back at him with something very close to panic. The latter simply shrugs.
‘So?’ Maze leans back in the booth, popping an olive from her Dirty Martini into her mouth.
‘Look around, Maze!’ Amenadiel half-shouts over the loud music. Cosmo in hand, he gestures to their surroundings: Insane amounts of booze and barely clad dancers. ‘Every day in Lucifer’s life is a bachelor party!’
Maze huffs. ‘Well, not anymore.’ Looking like a child who’s had her favourite toy taken away, she glares in the direction of the bar where a moon-eyed Lucifer is playing with Chloe’s fingers as he watches her talk.
‘You’re no better yourself, Maze,’ Dan reminds her, nodding towards her lap with an amused smile.
Maze looks down, her eyes immediately going soft as they land on sleeping, drunken Eve. She quickly looks up again, feigning indifference. ‘It’s not my fault my girl can’t hold her liquor.’
The knowing looks on Dan and Amenadiel’s faces has Maze clearing her throat and averting her eyes. ‘The girl. I said, “the girl”.’
‘Sure, you did,’ Amenadiel smirks, glancing over at Dan. They both chuckle. Maze looks like she seriously considers stabbing them, and Amenadiel quickly returns to their previous topic. ‘But the fact that Lucifer has somewhat resigned his excessive debauchery only puts all the more pressure on us to give him an unforgettable, absolutely phenomenal party!’
‘Pressure’s mostly on the best man, though,’ Dan points out in an attempt to push down the ridiculous performance anxiety already crippling up his back. ‘Right?’ He and Amenadiel both look expectantly to Maze.
‘Whatever,’ she breathes, shrugging again. ‘We’ll just get some fast cars.’
The two men share a look and nod. It's not a bad idea, actually.
‘And some strippers, of course,’ Maze adds, before taking a sip of her drink.
Dan laughs uneasily. ‘Not sure Chloe would like that.’
‘Not sure Lucifer would either.’ Amenadiel nods towards his brother, and they all three watch as Lucifer declines offers from five low cut dresses, barely casting them a glance as he makes his way to Chloe on the dance floor, her favourite IPA in hand and a stupid smile on his face.
Maze rolls her eyes and scoffs, then returns her attention to Dan and Amenadiel. ‘What about male strippers then? I mean, dude’s giving up dick for at least, what, fifty years? If he’s willing to make that sacrifice for Miss Granny Panties, the least he deserves is one last night of man-to-man. Or man-to-man-to-man, if he likes.’
Amenadiel shoots her a flat look. Dan blinks and makes a choked sound, his throat suddenly dry.
‘No?’
Both men respond with silence.
‘Fine. Have it your way. Just cars and booze. No strippers.’ Maze looks deeply disappointed for a second before her face lights up with an idea. ‘Unless…’ With an up-to-no-good grin, she turns around in her seat, as much as she can with Eve napping in her lap, and zooms in on Chloe.
‘What? No, Maze,’ Dan protests when he realises what she’s suggesting. ‘I mean, not just because I’m not gonna ask my ex-wife to take off her clothes in front of her soon-to-be new husband’—Dan shudders at the mere thought—‘but because there is no way she’ll ever do that. Trust me.’
Maze looks deeply unimpressed. Then she licks her teeth and raises an eyebrow at Dan. ‘Decker never gave you a proper striptease?’
Before Dan can answer that, Chloe’s ‘Who am I giving a striptease?’ sounds from beside them. Lucifer, of course, is practically pressed up against her side, his hand clutching expensive fabric at her hip—not possessively; just like he never wants to let her go.
‘Me, hopefully,’ Lucifer excitedly replies Chloe’s question, eyes lasciviously gliding up and down her frame.
Chloe must be quite drunk already, or maybe it’s just the novelty of wearing Lucifer’s ring on her finger, because instead of rolling her eyes at him, she puts a hand on his chest, leans in with a smirk and, loud enough for all of them to hear, purrs, ‘I thought you wanted to take this dress off me yourself.’
Lucifer lets out a low, husky chuckle and looks at Chloe like she’s a wet dream come true, and more.
‘Oh, fuck off already!’ Maze grunts towards them and immediately whispers, ‘Not you, baby,’ when a pair of disoriented, slightly hurt doe eyes suddenly look up at her.
‘Don’t mind if we do,’ Lucifer smirks, already pulling Chloe in the direction of the elevator. Before they can get even three steps away, however, Lucifer lets go of Chloe’s hip and returns to the table.
‘Right, but speaking of getting naked’—he glances at Chloe before looking to Dan, Amenadiel and Maze—‘when you do plan my nothing short of spectacular stag night at some point, do me a favour and  keep any kind of ecdysiasts out of it. I mean, I’m all for scantily dressed women dancing’—he gestures towards Sarah performing on the table next to them—‘men, too, of course, but… I never thought I’d say this, but I’ve seen enough of that. And besides, any striptease is boringly PG-13 compared to the positively sinful things this woman does to me.’ Lucifer shoots Chloe a look which can only count as foreplay, and this time, she does roll her eyes. She also sends him an enticing smile, her eyes burning with promises and dark, dirty secrets.
Amenadiel clears his throat.
‘Point is,’ Lucifer continues when he manages to take his eyes off Chloe, ‘try stay clear of the clichés, okay? Strippers and expensive liquor are just Tuesday for me. I want something exciting! Something like, I don’t know, fighting a UFC champion. Or a bear. Or go swimming with sharks! Always wanted to try that.’ The last comment is directed at Chloe, who raises her eyebrows and nods, probably because it’s not the first time she hears this. Lucifer looks to the three (conscious) people in the booth again. ‘Or I could give you Elon’s number. I’ve heard spring’s lovely up there!’
He grabs a napkin from the table, ‘borrows’ a pen from a guy in the middle of giving another guy his number, and actually scribbles down Elon Musk’s contact info.
‘Just be a little creative, will you?’
—is the last thing he says before he and Chloe hurriedly walk towards the elevator, hands all over each other.
Maze, Dan and Amenadiel all look at the napkin lying on the table.
‘We’ll need more than fast cars,’ Dan states.
The other two nod.

Figured id try this. AH  Chit chat livestream notes / QnA  7-10-20
because i'm weird i like “documenting” videos and (in this case) Live Streams. figured why keep this to myself so here. maybe one day ill just post a google docs link for a viewing copy but idk. So heres what i got for today seeing as the chitchat part will likely be cut off for the “real” video i may as well memorialize it. not perfect and may be kinda nonsensical but its what i could come up with.
Matt has a window…. With a balcony blocking above , pointless window. Red Web (trevors podcast)  “where he gets in over his head on the internet” “think if i just show them the episode of Technical Difficulties where i made garden lights into solar chargers i can get that tax kickback?” , Jacks neighbor with the tesla solar roof , having to train people to know how to install it . Ryan: “what are the odds he cant look outside at any given hour of the day and see atleast one human with a big piece of paper scratching their head” Elon Musk Starlink satellites for internet worldwide, Ryan “not saying that's _clearly_  a supervillain plot but if it was it wouldnt surprise me” , Ubisoft Far Cry teaser… oh its live action movie teaser clip- oh shit that's rendered!!! , teaser pick of a young Vaas with scars…. Ryan “Did he get them in the womb!?!?!?  Wanna know how i got these scars? Born with them don't know…”  “What is your fave type of cake?” Ryan: Chocolate (Lava)… don't put a sprinkle on it OR ILL SLAY YOU Jack: I mean is birthday a type of cake… Funfettis great Jeremy: both are stereotypical , Boston Creme cakes and Rum Cakes. (chat Ryan your insurance is listening)  Jeremy: don't have much i really care about , just “well that sucks it burnt up” . Matt: first ever smash trophy i won , only one i still have. Chat answers “Photo albums , Ryans DeadPool Suit” “what games hope to be announced on microsoft stream?” Matt :  Fable 4 (Ryan ”surprised theyd try to bring it back past the press that is peter molyneu” Matt ” well now nothing holding them back , not those trees!”) Jack: not so much games but LockHeart the mini streaming Xbox. (Ryan: all those types of things have failed idk why they think - well they also made mixer and that went tits up so sure why not) Jeremy: microsoft doesnt really blow me away , arent really anything that im like “i HOPE they announce a sequel” Matt: know this isnt the right crowd but Banjo Kazzoie? Just added in smash , Crash Bandicoots got a new game it makes sense nows the time… i mean the time was already before this but fuck it do it anyway. Steffie says we are at almost 10 mil views on Achievement Knievel (9.95 mil)  Ryan “which one was that” (Jack and Jeremy) “that's Im Still In The Air” Ryan “oooohhh… now i know why i blocked it out… thought we titled it like “the greatest stunt ever” or atleast that's what we called it while making it” “rather fight 100 duck sized ChilledChaos (yey my boy chilled!) or 1 ChilledChaos sized duck?” Ryan “feel like the duck cuz atleast it still doesnt have thumbs” - Jeremy “or teeth , what is it gonna do it can bill and flipper you” Matt “i mean a bunch of tiny Chilleds can work together to kill you” Jeremy “right they will figure something out” Ryan “tiny chilled more dangerous he can infiltrate spaces i wouldnt expect to find him” “tv show / movie you could watch again for the first time what would it be?” Jack: Breaking bad and Endgame … but only if its with a crowd who is ALSO seeing it for the first time. Matt : The Office Ryan: Full Metal Alchemist (oh anime time) , everyone talks about Brotherhood but i really liked the original. Matt:  Brotherhoods a bit better but original is still good on its own (paraphrased). Ryan : had that twist at the end of “dafuq did this show just go?” made a movie based off it… skippable though. Jeremy: Futurama , *or erase all my knowledge of Whose Line* “Fave piece of Merch put out?” Jeremy: Geoff tanktop with the tribal skull. Ryan: *puts on classic gray achievement hunter hat* Jack: Extralife Posters if those count , like the Xmen AH one behind Ryan that Jon (Risinger i assume) and Pat (IDFK) made. Matt: Tiki Mugs. Trevor in chat “what if president trump rode up in a Salad Chalice shirt” , Jack: one guy who bought it , like “im hip with the kids” Ryan: can you imagine someone less likely to be seen near a salad? Matt: I mean ryan he thinks he has to drink them so…. Jeremy: also been having a lot of solicitors recently for some reason… really annoying and during a pandemic. Ordered a sign thats basically “fuckoff im not answering the door LEAVE” , have a ring doorbell (some kind of doorbell app where you can talk to people at the door i guess?)  but when im recording cant be like “hang on a second - FUCKOFF” Ryan: i DO feel like you have the kind of job you could do that , if anything youd put them in the video like “hey you're live right now what you need” … Jack managed to crash 7D2D on my local system already that's a good sign (brief technical difficulties music playing as it cut to ryans screen in the game)

[SMUT WARNING]
#5
You gasp and don’t move for a few second, giving your body time to adjust. Elon senses your trouble and kisses you on the mouth. “You are amazing Y/N,” he whispers soothingly, and you start moving your hips.
Moving your lower body in circles, you feel his dick push into you with every ever so light bounce you fulfill in his lap. Soon the room is filled with your moans. Your hands find their spots on his chest where you take pleasure in more often than not leaving little scratch marks on his skin.
Shortly your thrusts become more demanding and you lean back. His hands steady your movements by holding you by your waist tightly. “Y/N, remember the other night at the party?”
A ragged “uh-hu” is the only thing you manage to bring out before he continues.
“You looked so hot in that short dress. I could have banged you right there on that fucking buffet table.”
A short scream leaves you as he defiantly thrusts his hips against yours, drawing himself even deeper into you. Throwing your head back in ecstasy, you try to keep upright as he enters you ever so deeply. You moan his name quietly when Elon sits up and starts kissing your cleavage again. “I’m close,” he somehow manages to bring out as his lips reach your jaw.
You can hear restrain in his voice and he moves slower, not anymore matching the bucks of your hips. But you smile and bury your hands in his hair. You hold him tight and teasingly pull on his hair while you tell him that you’re on birth control in between sighs.
He instantly picks up the movements again, now pressing you down on his lap harder every time you settle down. Soon you feel something inside your lower body clench and waves of heat rush over your body. You’re hot and cold at the same time when Elon groans your name and you answer with gasps.
Your orgasm washes over you without mercy and you hug him tightly, scared you’ll lose your mind otherwise. With some last ragged moves, he prefigures his orgasm and then he fills you.
Sweaty and slightly trembling he hugs you, keeping you close while leaning against the backrest. For some minutes neither of you move while trying to catch your breath.
When you finally stand up to gather your clothes, Elon doesn’t seem to plan on doing the same. He simply watches you as you stand in front of the windows, naked as god created. Your panties and bra are already in your hands, but you just look out at the dark sky, trying to process what had just happened what impact this will have on your future career.
The sound of someone gently clearing his throat awakes you from your rigor and you quickly put on your underwear. When you turn around, Elon has already put on his sweatpants. Yet, his jersey is only halfway up his arms, ready to be pulled over his head in a second. Your eyes lock and you gift him with a shy smile. Elon puts his shirt on before walking over to you. He soothingly holds you by your upper arms before kissing you passionately.
You lean into him and let him hug you before pushing him away. “It’s late,” you say, “I should go home.”
Elon lets you go and while you still stumble around the room, casually asks you if you thought you could drive home yourself or needed a taxi. After contemplating, you tell him a taxi would be nice and he picks up the phone from his desk. You are almost at the door when he speaks up yet another time, “Y/N, let me make you dinner sometime.” The words sound like a pleading and Elon continues as you turn around to look at him. A mischievous smirk is plastered to his face. “Showing in public would only cause bad PR.”
You flash him a wide grin before opening the door, “last things first, it is then Mr. Musk.”

Music I Can’t Understand
Tumblr media
Getting into hip hop in my late teens was like learning a new language: slang, cars, food, drugs, brands, gangs, locations. For example:
What does it mean to be sitting on 44s?
44 inch rims on your car - highly coveted, a desirable rim size.
What about coming from the 504?
The area code of Hollygrove, New Orleans: the neighbourhood Lil Wayne grew up in.
Please double cup me?
Kindly serve me lean in two double stacked Styrofoam cups.
Ice cream paint job?
Cars again - clean exterior with creamy white leather interior.
Finna hit a lick?
Fixing (intending) to rob a liquor store.
Wavy Brazilian?
Human hair grown from the scalps of the fine people of Brazil, harvested, treated and then sold to be used in wigs and weaves. The hair has a natural wavy texture and is typically long and dark.
Cop dome?
Receive a blow job. Confusingly, I’ve also heard ‘domed’ to mean shooting someone in the head.
Chopper?
You might be thinking of a helicopter or a motorcycle, but in hip hop a chopper is almost always a fully automatic weapon - I guess because it cuts people down?
A bird?
A kilo of drugs, typically cocaine.
Beyond the slang, I also found some of the accents difficult to understand. Lil Wayne speaks in a hoarse, treacly voice, he’s usually fucked up, his word association is crazy, he loves puns, and he rapidly jumps from topic to topic. So, initially, listening to Wayne was like trying to speed read Shakespeare. It took me a while to be able to properly tune in and listen to the lyrics - but when I did, I found hip hop so rewarding and fun. This is all from one song:
‘Cause I’ll serve anyone like a blind waiter
I work out in my office, guess I’m fit for business
Your flow never wet, like grandma pussy/ I’m always good, like grandma cookies
You niggas best not slip, Ice Road Truckers
I also appreciate the trite but appealing throwaways:
Tumblr media
felt like rockstar, might die later idk
(Music critics under the misapprehension that rappers didn’t glorify hard drugs and depresso partying before Future need to go back to school.)
I have memories of rapturous repeat listens of Good Kid, Maad City, trying to decode the story. Falling in love with the mythology of Kanye. Digging through forums. Listening to famous classics and thinking I was the first to uncover an unknown treasure, like an oblivious archaeologist. The golden age of Big Ghost’s blog. MF DOOM super fandom. Discovering old artists online and stuffing my ears with their back catalogs. Visiting country towns and thinking ‘I bet no one here has even heard of Aesop Rock’ like a smug fuck. Pouring over lyrics on genius.com. Sweating profusely at gigs. Hoarding mixtapes from DatPiff. Weirdly, I associate a lot of my fondest hip hop memories with being by myself on my laptop.
The interface hasn’t changed one bit:
Tumblr media
Over time, though, I’ve gotten bored with hip hop. I feel like I haven’t really fallen in love with anything released since ~2014. Piñata might be the last hip hop album that really worked on me (exception: the Hamburger Helper album Watch the Stove from 2016). Even To Pimp A Butterfly has serious issues: listen to “Mortal Man” and tell me it’s not the corniest shit ever. The extended butterfly/chrysalis/caterpillar metaphor throughout the album is like bad high school poetry. For a while, I thought my cynical outlook on modern hip hop was just a product of getting older and being wistful for the music I liked when I was younger. But now I’ve decided that this is a problem solely between me and hip hop, because I still find music that I get obsessed with. But that music is exclusively Celtic.
youtube
I would timebox my Celtic music obsession to the past year or so, but Spotify went to great pains to inform me that Enya was my artist of the decade, so this must have been latent within me for some time.
Tumblr media
When initially dipping my toe in the Celtic genre, I started with instrumentals and songs sung in English, but I’m waist deep now and have started listening to Gaelic music. It’s like birdsong: I don’t know what they’re saying, but I like the way it sounds. Throaty, clear. Choking, sweet. Windswept, warm. Profound, unknowable. Ancient, important. Echoing, intimate. They could be singing about stale muesli bars and stubbed toes for all I know.
youtube
(If you don’t listen to these songs - especially the one below - I don’t think this blog post will work on you. See please listen.)
Take the song “Thig An Smeòrach As t-Earrach” (above). Obviously ‘Thig An Smeòrach As t-Earrach’ sounds like something Gollum would hiss under his breath, but I find the song itself practically spiritual. Gaelic is so foreign - the words bear no similarity to words I’ve ever heard before - but I feel like I still understand what’s being said. It’s like a fiery angel has appeared at the foot of your bed and is telling you something important: but the angel is so beautiful and bright, your eyes are watering. You can hardly look. And you certainly can’t listen. But the message is burned in your brain. You didn’t understand a word, and wouldn’t know how to repeat what the angel said - but you understand their meaning perfectly.
youtube
Do you think the past or the future is more important? And not in terms of your own life (e.g. will your retirement be better than your time in high school) - that’s chickenshit, that’s two turns in early game Civ V, that’s low stakes table. No, I mean in terms of the whole timeline of the planet: neolithic magic in stone circles, valleys where no human has ever walked, unturned stones beneath deep water, dead languages. Should we protect the physical remnants of history or privilege the possibilities of the future? Would we crush Grecian pottery if it unlocked clean, sustainable power which allowed us to create AirPod batteries which never lose their charge? Without even asking, I will tell you that anyone making Celtic music thinks the past is more important than the future. And while you listen to Celtic music, you will agree.
Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery.
Celtic music is humanist, but ancient humanist. It is not interested in what Elon Musk is doing, it doesn’t care what shirt you’re wearing, or whether you’re an Episcopalian vegan, or if you can finish The New Yorker crossword puzzle, or really any modern concerns - at least, I don’t think it cares. In a way, I don’t care what they’re saying, because I like the way it makes me feel: peaceful and romantic and connected to something eternal and profound. Like when a huge rock is warm to the touch. These are underrated feelings.

What can it require to be founder?
What does it take to be the truly visionary kind of entrepreneur who has an idea that really shifts paradigms and changes the world for the better? The answer would depend on who you ask. Here are a few things that most people will agree are fairly important ... Fearless When launching a new idea, there is always an element of risk involved. Even if that idea doesn't require financial risk, yourrrre still putting your self on the line plus there is still the opportunity that your idea won't sell or that it's going to be laughed out of your room. You need a thick skin and also you need to be prepared to fail. Resilient More important compared to the willingness to fail even, will be the willingness for getting back up again after you do. Almost every successful entrepreneur will fail multiple times before they eventually succeed but it's because they keep on trying that they eventually get their win. Once, you only need to succeed. Inventive Of course, needless to say that a businessman needs to be inventive. They must be able to come and spot opportunities up with new ideas that others miss. This is something that you will probably be born with (or otherwise) in some degree, but you will discover certainly steps you can take to encourage yourself for getting more creative within your thinking. Old Okay, you don't have to be old to be a successful trait. I wanted to include this just to make a point-- which is that you don't need to be 'hip and young' to have a successful startup. In fact, most successful businesses are started by people in their 40s or older. So, don't count yourself out of the race just because you're not in your twenties! Team Players Another myth could be that the entrepreneur is not a team player-- that they can act solo. In reality, entrepreneurs more often than not surround themselves with strong teams and credit this with many of their success. Passionate Perhaps the most important trait of all is that an entrepreneur be passionate. If you don't believe in your product or service, if you don't feel incredibly excited about it, then you won't have enough drive to see it through to completion. You won't be able to win over other people and get them excited for it. Excitement is contagious-- so don't stick to something that you find dull or uninteresting. How Elon Musk Made People Take Him Seriously Big, world-changing ideas do not come along often. People like the status quo in fact and when you come along and try to change that, you will always meet resistance. And people-- as a whole-- are also unfortunately lacking in ambition often. If you tell someone that you're going to be a rock star or an astronaut, the most common reaction you'll get is disbelief. This is a shame though: someone has to make it! With all that in mind though, how can you go about convincing people to put their faith (and cash) behind your idea? If you want to do something big, how do you get others on board? The Power of Credibility Musk is taken seriously by everyone now but at the time, he was completely unknown. And he was disenfranchised with the attempts made by NASA and others at that time. He thus came up with an idea of a prize to motivate companies into creating the technology necessary to make his vision a reality. He found people that were as passionate about his idea as he was and by doing this, he lent his entire concept credibility. People would have laughed him off the stage but not when he appeared alongside such luminaries. How to Get Credibility for Your Big Idea So, the next time you have a big idea for a business, think about how you can get others to buy into it and who it would take to convince them. If it sounds stupid coming from you, then speak to someone who won't think it's stupid and who will be able to convince others. And this is actually the advantage of having a 'big idea'-- it will automatically be more exciting than a small idea and so you'll find there will be people out there who want to become ambassadors for it. Wests life and music have combined into an ongoing piece of performance art one that appears unsustainable at this pitch
Tumblr media
In an era when the likes of Beyoncé can release perfectly formed records without warning, the saga of Kanye Wests seventh album has been comically messy. He first announced it a year ago, under the name So Help Me God, but postponed its release by several months while renaming it Swish, Waves and, finally, The Life of Pablo.
In the weeks prior to its grandiloquent live-streamed launch at Madison Square Garden on Thursday an album playback featuring celebrity guests and an army of black models debuting Wests latest Yeezy fashion line he posted a series of perplexingly self-destructive tweets on topics including his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose and Bill Cosby. Even for a man who clearly subscribes to Oscar Wildes dictum, There is only thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about, it was a bizarre display.
West, 38, is arguably the most important pop artist of his era and certainly the most compelling, for good or ill. He speaks, and indeed acts, in superlatives. In recent years he has described himself, not always entirely seriously, as the greatest living rock star on the planet, the new Steve Jobs, a potential US president and, simply, the nucleus. Inevitably, he inspires extreme reactions.
When he was booked for last years Glastonbury festival, more than 130,000 people signed a petition calling for an insult to music fans all over the world to be dropped. The vehemence of such attacks on an apologetically outspoken black man doubtless had a racist dimension but that alone does not explain why the rapper is such a uniquely polarising figure.
West was brought up to achieve great things. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, but raised in Chicago by his mother, Donda, an academic, he was given the name Kanye meaning only one Omari wise man and she taught him above all to love himself. In her memoir Raising Kanye, Donda wrote that West inherited from his father Ray, a former member of the Black Panther party, little patience for what he thinks is unjust. Wests kindergarten teacher said to Donda: Kanye certainly doesnt have any problem with self-esteem, does he?
That dude was focused since he was a shorty because he knew what he wanted to do and he had a mother who supported the shit out of him, his friend and fellow rapper GLC once told Complex magazine.

After enrolling at art college in 1997, West dropped out to pursue production work for the likes of Jay Z, with a signature sound based on accelerated soul samples, and then fought doggedly to be taken seriously as a rapper.
I realised that he was going to make it happen and he didnt mind being an asshole, Damon Dash, Jay Zs partner in Roc-A-Fella Records, told Complex. If you dont mind being an asshole, youre not going to lose. He wasnt scared, he had gall. A decade later, West told the New York Times: I knew I was going to make it this far; I knew that this was going to happen.
In October 2002, West was involved in a car crash that shattered his jaw and changed his life. He was convinced that God had saved his life and that he needed to write more profound lyrics. He described this epiphany in his 2003 single Through the Wire: a superheros origin story in which he emerges from a life-threatening accident stronger than ever. I knew I was dealing with a different human being after the accident, his managerGee Roberson told Complex. From that day forth, it was game on.
Unlike his mentor Jay Z, the middle-class West couldnt draw on a violent, hardscrabble youth for credibility so he had to create his own drama, trumpeting his talent and ambition to a degree that was unusual even by hip-hops self-aggrandising standards.
Im the closest that hip-hop is getting to God, he told journalists at an album playback in 2005. Talking to the Guardian afterwards, he described his florid braggadocio as both a form of self-motivation and a theatrical performance. Its like Im walking on this tightrope. Its like, damn, what if he falls? And if I do make it, its like, damn, he made it! But either way youre saying damn. Everybody else is just walking on the ground.
West backed up his rhetoric by constantly redefining what hip-hop could be. The College Dropout (2004) bridged the gulf between mainstream rappers and socially conscious underground MCs. The lavish Late Registration (2005) was co-produced by thefilm score composer Jon Brion. The Daft Punk-sampling, Nietzsche-quoting hit Stronger, from Graduation (2007), began hip-hops lucrative liaison with EDM. Most of its current stars, including Drake and Kendrick Lamar, walked through doors that West opened.
West is a tireless enthusiast with constantly expanding tastes and an ear for whats next. He has been adept at choosing collaborators, from big names such as Rihanna and Daft Punk to up-and-comers such as Arca and Kid Cudi, and taking inspiration from fashion, cinema, architecture and visual art. He is a famous perfectionist who claimed to have mixed his single Stronger 75 times before he was satisfied.
Logic would seemingly state that an album with so many people working on it would sound disjointed, but what Kanye manages to do is get the best out of everyone working towards one sound, the producer Evian Christ told Pitchfork in 2013. You cant really overstate how difficult it is to do that.
West is also an unpredictable lyricist who is equally capable of self-aware jokes, crass, misogynist punchlines and eloquent examinations of race and class. Early in his career, he spoke out against homophobia in hip-hop and blurted out George Bush doesnt care about black people during a telethon for victims of Hurricane Katrina, although he has only sporadically engaged with politics since. He is often at his best when he is being inappropriate. (Five years later, Bush called the incident the all-time low of his presidency.)
Wests behaviour changed dramatically after Donda Wests death in November 2007, from heart disease. He rarely talks about the loss but last year told Q that he blamed himself: If I had never moved to LA shed be alive. West became a more haunted and guarded figure, returning to music with 808s & Heartbreak (2008), a brave, introspective album that featured more Auto-Tuned singing than rapping and paved the way for Drake and The Weeknd.

The loss of his mother invited sympathy but the next turning point in Wests life inspired fury and derision. In 2009, he interrupted Taylor Swifts acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, bringing to the boil a long-simmering backlash. (West ungallantly references the incident on his new song Famous.) He retreated to his bunker if Hawaii can be called a bunker and made his decadent epic My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) with a legion of collaborators including Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver and Elton John. He later described it as a long backhanded apology.
In recent years, Wests ambition has become both grander and more diffuse. During interviews and concerts to promote Yeezus (2013), an audaciously abrasive electro-punk primal scream that he called a protest to music, he delivered long, furious monologues about his struggle to break into the fashion industry.
He increasingly seems more interested in clothes than in music Right now, over 70% of my focus is on apparel, he told Paper magazine and much more besides. He has compared himself to such world-changing figures as Picasso and Walt Disney, befriended the tech stargazer Elon Musk, and talked about his ambition to inspire an army of risk-taking cultural soldiers. You can see the growth from Im gonna be this great artist to I wanna do something that ignites a fire in peoples souls, he told Q.
However much credit West gets, it is never enough. In a 2013 interview he compared his critics to the eight-grade basketball coach who would not include him in the team even though he hit every shot. The next year, he made the team. West is driven by the desire to prove his doubters wrong, and fired up by his previous ability to do so.
While most high-profile artists accept that they cannot please everybody, West craves approval from establishment institutions that he appears to hate, from the Grammy awards to European fashion houses, as a point of principle. I dont care about the Grammys, he told the New York Times. I just would like for the statistics to be more accurate.
It is unclear what will happen when West can no longer hit every shot. The singles he released last year, including collaborations with Paul McCartney, were coolly received. His Glastonbury performance promised to be either a triumph or a disaster but, most reviewers agreed, fell somewhere in-between. Pitchforks Jayson Greene wrote: He is responsible for the current zeitgeist, but listening to his slightly confused new material, you get the distinct sense that hes struggling to find his current footing in it.
Reading Wests recent tweets, it is impossible to work out exactly what he is trying to achieve. He is clearly a more volatile and erratic character than he used to be. Marriage and fatherhood are often stabilising influences but marrying Kim Kardashian in 2014 has pitched West into a tabloid world with an endless appetite for gossip. It is unlikely that he could retreat from the spotlight, as he did in 2009, even if he wanted to.

Kanye West releases album and fashion collection at Madison Square Garden
His life and music have combined into an ongoing piece of performance art which is unsustainable at this pitch. No artist can remain the nucleus of pop culture indefinitely. One day, this extraordinarily successful figure will face the new challenge of learning to cope with no longer being the man everyone is talking about.
Potted profile
Born: Kanye Omari West, on 8 June 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia
Career: Began producing music for local Chicago rappers in his teens and landed his first high-profile job in 1999. Launched his solo career with The College Dropout in 2004. Runs the record label Good Music and the creative content company Donda.
High point: Bouncing back with his magnum opus My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in 2010 after his snafu at the Video Music Awards temporarily derailed his career: even Barack Obama called him a jackass. In December 2014, Pitchfork named it the best album of the decade so far.
Low point: The death of his mother in 2007, soon followed by his split from fiancee Alexis Phifer.
What he says: I will die for the art, for what I believe in, and the art aint always going to be polite.

And this is actually the advantage of having a 'big idea'-- it will automatically be more exciting than a small idea and so you'll find there will be people out there who want to become ambassadors for it. You just have to find them!

This is something that you is going to be born with (you aren't) in some degree, but you will discover certainly actions you can take to encourage yourself to have more creative as part of your thinking. Old Okay, you don't have to be old to be a successful trait. But I wanted to include this just to make a point-- which is that you don't need to be 'hip and young' to have a successful startup. Most successful businesses are started by people in their 40s or older. So, don't count yourself out of the race just because you're not in your twenties! Team Players Another myth could be that the entrepreneur is not a team player-- which they act solo. Moreover, you won't be able to win over other people and get them excited for it. This is a shame though: someone has to make it after all! With all that in mind though, how can you go about convincing people to put their faith (and cash) behind your idea? If you want to do something big, how do you get others on board? The Power of Credibility When he wanted to send a man into space, this is actually the very same problem that Elon Musk faced. Musk is taken seriously by everyone now but at the time, he was completely unknown. All he knew, was that it was his mission to make space tourism a reality. And he was disenfranchised with the attempts made by NASA and others at that time. He thus came up with an idea of a prize to motivate companies into creating the technology necessary to make his vision a reality. The only problem? He didn't have the money and no one believed that he could offer it! His solution ended up being make his initial presentation alongside enthusiastic engineers and astronauts.
