honestly as much as i loved the batman… the heart of the story wasn’t there until they hamfisted the last act where the riddler blows up gotham and batman finally became batman. like i understand there’s always gna be this need to show some type of character growth but, despite how cliché it is now to show the death of the waynes, it’s such a clear signifier of bruce’s grief. alfred’s hospitalization wasn’t as high stakes as it could’ve been bc we don’t see the grief that clouds all of bruce’s actions. even in the novella prequel (which i had the chance to read recently), the depth of bruce’s character just lent itself to hating being seen as a rich kid and that’s it 😭 idk idk IDK! haven’t rewatched the batman since it’s release so who even knows if i’m just talking out of my ass
