It's how he found his bandmates, how he manages to make the right kind of industry connections, and how he knows from the moment he spots her at a Sunset Curve show that Julie is a musician. Except, she claims not to be, and instead of actually talking about it, he just keeps hooking up with her in the alleyway behind the bar he works at. Which would be fine and good, great even, if he didn't know with every part of him that she was lying about the musician thing. Oh, and also if he didn't go and fall in love with her.
