Decided to use the spectator mode copy of my world to use Locate Biome for finding where the nearest cherry grove is now that I’ve updated and learned two things:

Thing 1: “/locate biome” doesn’t search the actual generated terrain. Rather it goes entirely off of what the seed’s terrain should be. Which makes total sense but I’d just never thought about it I guess. I tried locating a Cherry Grove while 2000 blocks from spawn, but in an area I’d explored before. It lead me to an existing Meadow biome that gets replaced in 1.20 but I’d already generated in 1.19.

Just to test it I went to spawn and tried to locate a mangrove swamp on this seed. In 1.19/1.20 you spawn in one, whereas in my world (which I started in 1.17) the closest is about 4000 blocks away. It said the closest was 100 blocks lol

and Thing 2: When I used “/locate biome cherry_grove” from spawn, it tells me the closest is at -2550, -479. I fly there, knowing I’ve definitely explored in that direction a LOT but hoping maybe it was just out of range. And well.....past-me wiped out the entire biome except this tiny patch lmao

I’m not even kidding. I have a 1.19 (now 1.20) world I made with the same seed just to compare sometimes, so I flew to the exact same coords and just:

That WHOLE meadow would have been a cherry grove if I’d never been here. But hey at least I can still get saplings and flowers to farm lol

Also a fun side note in this area that’s in MY survival world version, but NOT in the 1.20 version of this seed is this chasm that starts around Y110. Can you just barely see that sculk at the bottom? Here I’ll zoom in

That’s an Ancient City babbyyyy! 

You could literally do a water bucket clutch from Y110 and land in an Ancient City if you wanted. (Okay you might actually land like 5 blocks from the Ancient City but that’s close enough). I won’t because I’d fail, but you could!

In 1.20, that Ancient City isn’t there at all. Just completely removed. There’s another one under the Snowy Slopes biome in both versions that still exists, but this one under where the Meadow-turned-Cherry-Grove is gone in 1.20

I wonder if mojang's goal in this whole thing is to bring in new players like modern games do (hold divisive polls, announce ✨new content✨ like every week, hype up the difficulty of said new content). I understand where they're coming from if that's the case, but imo minecraft can survive on word-of-mouth alone lmao. the main thing bringing in The Children isn't going to be the warden, it's the 100-ep roleplay series they just started watching that makes them want to try out the game for themselves. idk why they're trying to make it fortnite

I did something a little weird. NIR is probably my favorite Beatles podcast I’ve listened to, and I love how meticulous they are about laying out the history. So I got curious about listening to the show in the order it happened, not the order Jason and Steven are creating it--I totally understand why they’re doing what they’re doing, mind, it’s just that they’ve got enough episodes now that touch on specific incidents or dates I thought it might be interesting to reorder the episodes. So I have done that. 

If anyone sees a mistake, or cares enough about this to point out an organizational strategy that would make more sense, please let me know!

🌻(sunflower) what are your favourite biomes? Furthermore which biome feels most like home to you (might not even be your fave!). If you could add new biomes to the game what would they be?

I’ve always loved big snowy mountain biomes and ice spikes, but I also really love those ancient taiga biomes with the rocks around them! I’ve always found meadows biomes to be very homely, they’re nice and have a lot of flowers, and usually they have large flat planes that would be easy to build on. As far as new biomes, I’d love to see more biomes in the End! I also really love the lavender biome from Biomes o’ Plenty, so that would be cool to have too.

🏡 (house) what style do you like building with most? What style would you like to try out? Maybe share some pictures of some of your builds if you’d like!

I don’t know if I can necessarily pin down my style, per se? I really love stuff with big spikes, and my interiors tend to have some sort of wood as a primary block, so there’s that! My best pictures of my most recent build are all in my creative test world, but I’ll slap a few in anyway!

This is one build that’s part of my most recent project on a server I play on! I’m making an empire in a snowy biome (hence all the snow and ice) and this is a battle coliseum!

🎂(cake) favourite recent addition to the game? (1.16 and after)

I can’t pick just one, so I’ll pick something from every major update from 1.16 to 1.19 just for fun :D

1.16: so much good stuff in this one, it’s hard to pick. If I were to pick just one, it would probably be netherite, but blackstone blocks are a VERY close second. That, and of course, Nether biomes my beloved

1.17: glow lichen and candles are absolutely phenomenal, two small light sources that really change the game when it comes to lighting up your builds. This update also added in some of the bases for the cave biomes, which are incredible.

1.18: the mob spawning change that makes it so they can’t spawn in any light level greater than zero was added here, and it’s easily the best thing to happen to every Minecraft build ever, so I have to pick that one

1.19: sculk blocks my absolute beloved, they’re my favorite block in the game <3

I watch DSMP, Hermitcraft, and Empires SMP, as I’m sure you (and everyone else who looks at my blog) know. I definitely take a lot of inspiration from various MCYT’s in my builds! One of the main ones you can see in the build i showed before is the influence from Tango’s Decked Out 2 build!

As you can see here, his build uses a lot of pointed blackstone with the warped stem walls, which I definitely took inspiration from!

There’s other inspirations that I’ve taken for just my one build alone, such as iJevin’s season 9 castle for the floors, and Scar’s season 6 boardwalk for the upper floor level. The whole idea of making an empires comes from, well, Empires, and I’m definitely looking towards their builds (especially fWhip and Sausage) when I think about my own empire.

Funny enough, I think I’ve probably taken the least inspiration from DSMP, despite it being my home fandom for the longest time. Though, if you look closely, you can see some sculk vines on the build and within the inner arena, which is an idea I got from BBH’s egg arc.

this is going to be an off-the-cuff, kind of rambley and ranty post that i might regret posting in a day or two, sorry, but also its a minecraft rant so i guess who really cares but.

its already a massive pet peeve of mine that people have been spouting "nothing update" "lazy dev" jokes for basically every update since 1.16, just flat out downplaying or ignoring half of the update in question and instead judging it based off a surface level face value image that only takes the physical features like blocks, and throws the technical and functional side of things to the side. (not giving names cuz its not actually their fault and even if my blogs small i dont want to risk spreading harassment)

minecraft and mojang can definitely be criticized, to be clear, neither are perfect, but it annoys me that these people present it like they arent even criticizing the game, theyre just upset that an updates small. thats it.

but its even worse imo that april fools happens to be a joke snapshot and it suddenly erupts even more

"LOOK SEE THEY CAN ADD ALL THIS BUT THEY CHOOSE TO DO NOTHING" where is this nothing. is it behind the new gimmicky weapon everyone seemed to love for being new, unique, and powerful? is it next to the new structure with 2 new hostile mobs and a rework to bad omen that opens the doors to a lot of interesting events in the future? maybe its buried underneath the technical features we've gotten that change everything for datapacks and map makers? cuz none of that sounds like nothing.

and thats not even mentioning that not only do the april fools snapshots have absolutely zero quality control which is how theyre able to dump it out with so much so fast, but ALSO not every april fools joke is a snapshot. this years was but in other years theyve done screensavers, lit the launcher on fire...

i dunno im just really sick of seeing the whole "haha minecraft bad lol they cant even wedge 3 mobs into the update" (which is a different rant for a different time) sorts of nothing jokes for the 400 millionth time. everytime i see it im genuinely "find some new material, actually criticize the game beyond demanding EVERY update try to be the scale of minecons version of 1.17, or just leave and play games you actually enjoy"

1.15 happened and nobody batted an eye, which really makes you think honestly. just saying. i loved 1.16 and still do but some people really just want that to be the standard, especially after 1.17 minecon, despite both of those updates being a bit bad on the devs by the end from my understanding. theres a reason caves and cliffs was split into 4 smaller updates and i genuinely think we got way better updates as a result. i do hope we get another big update but id rather have 5 smaller updates than them trying to cram 5 large ones back to back

A spectator mode view of the 100-block deep ravine I fell into yesterday

(I checked, it starts at Y level 54-56 and then the lava is at -54)

(And a ramble about a terrain generation thing I’ve noticed and think is really interesting!)

It has three layers really: 

The blue outline is a flooded ravine at the bottom of the river (or it might be a small ocean biome actually), which I swam into and which is the water is cut off very abruptly at one end. 

The yellow outline is a separate middle layer that’s just an open cave with some shallow aquifers, one of which is also cut off by the lower ravine.

Then the GREEN section is the rest of the ravine, with the flat roof of it starting right at Y-0. 

The orange dot is there the water cuts out and I fell from and the green dot is the ledge I just barely managed to land on. Very spooky to fall into out of nowhere. 

The rest of my terrain generation ramble is below the cut :D

I’ve actually noticed this type of MASSIVE ravine happening multiple times and in two(ish) forms. Some are in brand new 1.18/1.19 terrain where if you find a flooded ravine that goes almost to Y-0 sometimes a few blocks below the “bottom” of it you’ll find a continuation in the same shape that goes all the way to lava, which is what this one is. 

Actually some don’t even have a flooded layer, it’s just an insanely tall ravine out of nowhere with lava at the bottom. Fly around in spectator mode and you’ll probably notice a few of both of these types!

The other instance of these insane ravines I’ve noticed is under my old 1.17 terrain. When the world depth extended to -64, interestingly, some old, surface-exposed mega ravines (i.e.: old ravines that reached lava level) now have identically shaped lava ravines if you go below Y-level 0, which is so fascinating to me considering the seeds were shuffled after the update! That happened in that infinite ravine seed I posted about a while back, actually! The above-ground infinite ravine is now directly below where it used to be, just under Y-level 0.

There’s a river that cuts the original ravine in half so this one is hard to get a good screenshot of, but here’s an example of the second type:

The exposed lava ravine (the top half) was from the 1.17 version of this seed and doesn’t directly exist if you open the seed in 1.18+. However directly below it now is a ravine that is the same shape the upper ravine would be if not for the river! 

And if you open a brand new world with the same seed in 1.19, you get this:

In which there’s is a full ravine at the same coords, not exposed to the surface at all this time, and once again it has a flooded layer (blue outline), a partial aquifer layer (yellow) and then a massive ravine straight to lava (green). This one just doesn’t have any weird spots where the water cuts out like the other one...lol

Makes me wonder if in the 1.17 version of this seed there would have also been a normal, exposed lava ravine at the coords of the huge one I fell into. It’s almost like when the seeds shuffled, some terrain generation just moved below Y-0 but stayed exactly where it was otherwise.

Here’s another cool example of an exposed 1.17 lava ravine having a continuation under it in the new terrain. This one even has a nearly identical mineshaft (which is also a thing I’ve noticed happening), which is cool. This ravine is also like 11 blocks wide and probably one of the chonkiest ravines I’ve ever seen.

Anyway, I just thought that was neat and wanted to share! Here’s a couple more screenshots from the ravine I fell into:

Why am I telling you this?

Ya see, more than 155 financial institutions globally who own another 100 thousand other businesses world wide have invested billions of dollars in companies who make those cluster bombs the United States is sending to the Ukraine, .... weapons which are banned under international law because of their impact on civilians.

So thank goodness the United States hoarded it's cluster bomb stockpile, because we never did sign that ban under the Convention on Cluster Munitions, which has been signed by 119 countries and came into force in 2010.

Otherwise we wouldn't be making any money off the deal today, and neither would a whole lot of our political leaders and Donald Trump who has about a million invested in JP Morgan stocks. JP Morgan invested $1.17 billion itself in cluster bombs manufacturers, and that's not all, a shit load of American retirement 401k's which include banks, pension funds and insurance companies will also profit off the cluster bomb frenzy because they are all owned by companies who own companies that invested in cluster bomb manufacturers too.

So let the money shower down as the cluster bombs shower down hell on earth for some unfortunate families who are labeled Enemies of the state.

Not to worry that people might find out YOU individually might be profiting off your investment stocks that are invested in cluster bomb manufacturers, because this won't be on the news, any american news anyway, as most of the media in America also hold stocks in some cluster bomb manufacturer.

So that would be like 'The pot calling the kettle black'.

So 'Mum's the word' as the british use to say when they wanted something kept quiet.

I mean I think most Americans are going to profit from this cluster bomb thing, because even Walmart owns some of JP Morgan, and Vice Versa.

From the groceries you buy to the gas you put into your car, most of those companies own a piece of the cluster bomb pie, and it's all unwittingly because companies own companies, that own other companies that hide the fact they profit from other people's misery and death.

Ya see nothing in our world today is what it seems on the surface, and most of our dirty little secrets are buried well within the core where most won't dig them up.

Except for me that is, I have earned the mentality over the years of a Diamond Shovel that gets to the eventual truth,.... because I just keep digging like I have here,....... and why I have been called Bulldog Fetter by some I have done research for.

....... and NO! But, wouldn't you instead think of Minecraft's goats?

Yes, goats are present in Minecraft. Finally! There are many types and varieties of goats in real life, such as the ibex who can walk on steep hills and the fainting goat. The Minecraft goats are based on the Rocky Mountain goat (or Oreamnos Americanus) and are well-suited for subalpine and alpine climates. They are not goats. They are more like antelopes square-shaped fakers.

They're still us and behave just like the woolly mountain goats that we are awestruck by. Here is everything you must be aware of about Minecraft goats.

Where to find goats in Minecraft

Minecraft goats can be seen on the top of surfaces with light levels of seven or more like cliffs. . It isn't apparent that it matters too much if the cliffs are covered in snow or grass however, they do appear to move around more in the daylight hours.

If you're lucky enough you might also see screaming goats. The only difference between them and regular goats is their bleats so you'll need to pay attention to them.

What are the things that Minecraft goats do?

Even if they are angry, they are more likely to target your enemies to defend you. If attacked, the goat will run away from its attacker.

How do I obtain the Goat Horn?

The Minecraft 1.17 update introduces a brand new item called the goat Horn. You can collect up to a maximum of two goat horns when the goat rams into blocks however they only drop one at a. The easiest method to obtain a goat horn is to gather several goats in a single area and then have them charge you. Once a charging goat comes into contact with the block their horn will break off.

There will be a sound when you use a goat's Horn. It's like blowing through the Horn to trigger an alarm. This is the exact sound you hear when you go on raids in Minecraft villages. What is this noise doing? There's some speculation that suggests the goat's horn could be used in a future easter egg, but at present the horn is only making the sound of raid.

What do Minecraft Goats eat?

In the real world, goats were one of the first animals domesticated because of their grass-eating habits, milk producing udders and tasty meat. You can feed them with wheat to get them to follow your lead. This will make them fall in a love-struck state and allow you to breed. You can also make milk by placing an empty bucket on them.
