Seven months later

"Mommy?" Little Lake was munching on his Cheerios, his eyes trained on me, a full-on question. I nearly brushed my hand through his brown hair, it was well overdue that we needed a haircut (Jack included). Lake’s hair was beginning to curl at the ends, while Lowen’s had taken longer considering the gum that he had gotten stuck in his hair a couple of months before.

Switching Amara on my other hip as she held her apple sauce drink in her hands squeezing at the package in hopes that she would be able to suck out anything else. “Yes, baby?” I asked, pulling the drink from the little blonde’s hands to which she whined, I shook my head at her and she made grabby hands towards her father.

Jack only smiled at the girl, taking her from my arms before setting her on his lap so that he could finish eating his toast. He held it out to the little girl to which she nearly bit off his finger while eating it. I leaned down kissing the little girl’s cheek whispering a soft, “good girl” watching as Jack gave me a glare.

Jack was sipping at his apple juice, since he loved it so much, claiming that it was better than orange juice (yes, I argued with him multiple times that orange juice was better). Amara watched her Dad and reached for her cup beginning to drink at it too.

“Where do babies come from?” Lake asked, his voice full of concern as his twin perked up at the question eager to also find out.

Jack spit out his juice at the question, while I paused watching my husband and then the little girl in his arms follow exactly what her father did, spitting out her juice and then giggling but Jack was so stunned that he didn’t notice the spill on his leg.

“Jack!” I scolded, tapping his shoulder rather harshly, face cloth in hand wiping at our daughter’s face where she decided that she needed to spit out her drink. I pulled her from his lap, to which her bottom lip came out, missing her father’s arms already.

Jack coughed, trying to regain his breath. The boys looked toward their father who only sputtered, they looked at me next. Wide innocent eyes and I debated on what I should do, whether it was appropriate or not. We had promised that we wouldn’t lie to our boys but we had already played along with Santa, the Easter Bunny and many other mythical creatures, plus were they truly old enough to understand any of it yet?

Within their childhood, I had already had one kid, another one only four weeks old in my stomach. We had told the boys as quickly as Jack had found out, we knew that it was inevitable that the boys would find out, and they treated their little sister so well, what was one more?

My husband looked toward me for guidance and I shrugged. “They’re boys, J. Mara and I will just understand each other won’t we, sweet girl?” I cooed at her to which she smiled at me at the newfound nickname. I knew that I would take my twelve months leave with the new baby, Amara wouldn’t be with the Nanny for too long if you counted eight more months.

Amara grabbed onto my nose, squeezing softly, her small nails pressing into the skin and I shook my head at her. The three boys sat at the table, seemingly waiting for me to say something but it was only a couple of days ago that Jack had complained that he wanted more time with the boys, saying that they clung onto me way too much (which was very true).

I sighed at the silence, my free hand placing itself on my husband’s shoulders. “You boys actually want to know?” I whispered loudly like it was some secret and even Jack gave a confused look eager to hear me out. The twins nodded eagerly, wide eyes and practically on the edge of their seats with how excited they looked knowing some secrets. “Truth is, there are such things as storks that come to drop off babies at hospitals. We sign a bunch of forms, they run some tests on the mommies to make sure that it’s her baby, and we get to go home with the baby.”

My husband raised his brow at me, looking towards the boys whose mouths made an ‘o’ shape as if it was the realization. “That makes a lot of sense, Annabelle was telling me that it had to do with ‘the birds and the bees’. I don’t know what she meant.” Lowen explained, to which Lake nodded along. The two got out of their seats walking towards their lunches to grab them and make their way into the car.

Jack also stood up from his spot, kissing my cheek and then Amara’s, “Nice save,” He commented, and I only grinned in response, tapping my lips gently so he could get the hint. He didn’t waste another second stealing a kiss from me, hoping to make it last but Amara pushed his face away. Pursing her own lips in an attempt. I laughed at the girl, adjusting her higher on my hip watching as my husband kissed the little girl on her lips as she smiled satisfied.

“Did you get a kiss from Daddy, sweet girl? Hm?” I asked her as she gurgled in response. Surprisingly she hadn’t said her first word but there were many bets placed between our families that her first word would be “Dada” or something along the lines but I knew that it was going to be something else. Call it mother’s instinct if you will. I looked towards Jack who had seemed to admire us, “You’re going to make the boys late, J. You’ll be back with your girl right after you drop off the boys.”

“My girls, you mean.” He corrected me and I gave him an adoring look before placing my hand on his back, nudging him forward hinting towards the time. He only nodded in response, kissing my cheek briefly before racing out the door.

"Mrs, Laurier, we had an incident today.” Lake’s teacher, Miss. Calvin, walked up to me as the boys were ushered into the SUV beginning to talk amongst each other. We had thought that it was best that to separate the boys young, it gave them more to talk about in the car and sometimes twins created more chaos together rather than separately.

My brows raised, motioning her to continue as I closed the car door. “There was an argument that broke out between some kids, including Lake. Something about that storks were bringing his new sibling? Our Principal said that we don’t condone lying so we’re going to need you to tell your boy that he’s wrong.” She explained a nervous smile on her face that told me, she didn’t believe in anything she was saying.

I barely even paused shrugging my shoulders, “Okay,” Was the only thing I said before walking to the other side of the vehicle.

She waved at me, smiling, “See you tomorrow!”

“Yeah, we’ll see,” I mumbled pulling out of the pick-up area, biting the inside of my cheek. Holding me back from parking and storming into the Principal’s office and screaming at her. Who were teachers to tell parents how to parent their children? We certainly don’t tell them how to do their job.

There was no way I was going back to that place, and Jack would agree as he always did

Just thought of something angsty, so how would the NRC staff + the overblot crew react to MC overblotting themself? Now they didnt use any of the drugs (why would they? They’re already strong themself without it) it’s more like they were forced to overblot. Like a sniper shotting the drug to them, but the drug isnt any normal drug. The drug instantly cause the user to overblot and become monster like, something akin to mara struck from HSR. And correct me if im wrong but when someone overblotted they’re aware on what they are doing right? Let’s have the MC be mindless :) again something similar to mara struck.

Since we have already establish that MC is honestly much stronger than all of the mafia, their teachers are going to have to fight them because with the overblot making them much stronger, they’re a damn powerhouse. Wonder how that would turn out..

Also you can decide if MC dies or simply just in a brink of death ;)

(I honestly think that at the end of the Twisted Wonderland game, Yuu overblots some way somehow.)

Silver Bullet Yuu would overblot in a self-sacrificing sort of way. Things are going down in Grim Court and Yuu takes the most drastic measure to get everyone out alive. Someone shooting Yuu with a gun would be very interesting maybe they jump in front of it to stop the big bad from powering up and Yuu overblots instead.

Also, I wouldn't say Yuu is more powerful than the other mafia leaders, but they do know how to give people a run for their money.

Overblot Silver Bullet Yuu

Ash falls from the sky as the gangs raise their weapons at the threat. Everyone has undergone a beating, but nothing like the wounds the threat has pouring down their body. The ruins of NRC have become a battleground, small fights break out over the campus, but the main one is soon to come to an end.

The threat backs away as the current gang leaders and leaders of old old close in. Yuu stands to the side clutching their wounded arm as Grim hisses beside them. Sweat rolls down their brow looking back and forth from the two forces. It's finally coming to an end all the bloodshed and pain is finally over. What was this all for? Power? Fame? Is the cost of lives this insignificant? Yuu's stomach twists in knots anger and sadness fill their being. One thing is for sure this life can never be for them, but seeing the eyes of their friends fill with determination to protect this broken home is something they can't turn away from.

That is when the notice a glim in the distance.

A sniper.

The threat smiles wickedly as wisps of magic surround them. They open up their arms like an embrace, proclaiming the end of all those who stand in their path. Yuu's body moves before they can think, jumping in front of the line of fire as they feel something pierce their chest.

"Y/N!" Crowley cries, It's been years since he has called them by their real name but before they can take it in the world turns black.

Overblot Crew Reaction

Riddle Rosehearts🌹

It happened so fast that the Heartslaybul leader didn't even get time to blink as he watched Yuu's form get covered in black ooze. For once the dorm leader was speechless. He takes a step back feeling fear creep up inside him. Yuu's cries of pain ring through his mind. Ace and Deuce yell for the bartender, but Riddle orders Trey and Cater to hold them back. Yuu's form grows as he watches it towering over the threat. There is no rule on how to handle this situation, but Riddle is determined to do anything to get Yuu back.

Leona Kingscholar🦁

Leona sees Yuu race across his field of vision already knowing what will happen. Jack yells over the noise trying to tell Yuu to hold on.

"Herbivore!" he cries knowing a person who has never interacted with the magic drug can't handle an overblot. By that point, Leona is sweating trying to figure out what to do. It will only take seconds for Yuu to lose control and he doesn't know what will become of them after. Leona readies himself and his members for anything. He can tell the real fight is about to start.

Azul Ashengrotto🐙

Azul is always one step ahead of his opponents, but to think the threat would try to cause themselves to overblot is something he never would have imagined, and Yuu jumping in front of the bullet is something he can't even fathom as he stands in terror. Azul doesn't even care that he heard the bartender's real name. At this point he could learn all about Yuu, but he could lose them altogether, and that is something he won't allow.

Jamil Viper🐍

Jamil raises his weapon jaw clenched. Kalim stands by his side eyes full of tears as Yuu starts to overblot. He can't let it end this way, he still hasn't thanked them for all they did for him. He won't let it end this way, he will use every power he has to see Yuu alive at the end of the day. He owes them that much.

Vil Schoenheit👑

It takes Vil so much strength to hold Epel back watching his friend forced to overblot. His experience with it is the worst he could ever feel, and he can't imagine what it must be like for Yuu. The potato he has watched and grown with writhing in pain and anguish does something to Vil. He knows Yuu will lose control and he won't stand watching his precious potato become rotten.

Idia Shroud🎮

Idia will not let another person he cares about fall to an overblot. He gets his weapons ready telling everyone to prepare themselves for what's to come. Ortho stands next to him holding his hand tightly. Back then he had no power, but now he knows what he can do. Whatever it takes he will cure Yuu once this is all over.

Malleus Draconia🐉

He wasn't fast enough. He should've seen through the threats plan. How can he lose one of his only friends? His anger is unimaginable, a lighting strike hits the sniper burning them to a crisp. Nothing will stop Malleus from destroying all those that hurt Yuu. They have given him nothing, but kindness, and he can't imagine losing them ever. For once in his life they treated him like a regular person even after finding out who he is. He owes Yuu a life debt as he steps forward in front of Yuu's overblot form as he hears the sound of Sebek screaming behind him. Till the very end, he will never turn his back on his friend.

NRC Staff Reactions

Dire Crowley🎩

He falls to his knees. He has failed again to protect those he cares about. His poor friends and now their dear child. Tears stream down his cheeks watching Yuu succumb to the overblot. How dare he call himself a headmaster when he can't even protect his dear students. It takes Crewel to get him to snap out of it. He at least needs to see this all through. He owes his friends and he owes Yuu that much.

Divus Crewel🩸

No, this can't be happening, not his puppy. That he helped raise, it was like yesterday when Crowley introduced them and how small they were. He will not lose them! He almost kicks Crowley for falling to his knees. Right now they need to snap Yuu out of this overblot whatever it takes. It is time for these stray pups to prove themselves worthy.

Mozus Trein📚

It pains Mozus to see the small child he taught how to play piano, and to dance, and sing become a beast from overblot. He stands his ground trembling, he sees Yuu just like he did his daughters. He helps Crowley off the ground encouraging him to continue fighting. He knows they are the only people Yuu can call family and it is their responsibility to help their child in times of trouble.

Ashton Vargas🧤

He isn't one to dwell on emotions, but seeing Yuu sacrifice themselves stirs something unimaginable in him. He cracks his knuckles clutching his fist as he steps up to overblot Yuu.

"You better give me a challenge kiddo. Otherwise, we are going to have some serious training after this."

Vargas was always a man of action not words.

Sam💀

He always knew his little imp was full of surprises. Now it is time for him to get serious. He supplies the group with his arsenal of gadgets. Even getting help from his friends on the other side. He made a deal with his little imp long ago and he plans to keep his end of the bargain.

Could u please a ghost runner plot synopsis I think Jack is very cool and I want to know more about him :3

sooo ghostrunner is a post apocalyptic scifi story where all of humanity had to hole up in one massive megastructure city/tower for survival. In the tower, two people rise to power and believe they each know the way forward for humanity. one (The Architect/Adam) who believes in tech, digitally backed up minds, discarding the organic, and another (Mara) who believes in modifying what we already have and mutating organic bodies so they can endure the world outside. Both are unrepentant terrible and will do ANYTHING to ensure their vision comes to light, no matter how willing the people below them are.

GR-74 (later named Jack) is an assassin for Adam/The Architect, who's made to silently eliminate political rivals and uprisings. There is a giant upheaval moment where Mara kills Adam, and Jack fails to stop her, and is killed in the process. and the story picks up from there.

You play as GR-74/Jack who's waking up weeks to months after Mara took over. And with the aid of the human who repaired you (Zoe), and Adam's backup ai, Architect, in your head, you go to try and stop her. As the game plays out you realize both Mara and the Architect are evil, and Jack starts to feel conflicted - which. Is odd. Considering he's supposed to be a mindlessly obedient robotic assassin who topples opposition without mercy. buuut somehow the humans who repaired him rubbed off on him, and he genuinely cares about the humans caught in the crossfire, and starts making his own path, away from his creator.

Its a fun story! to the point, and cute. also its like so fucking trans coded. I care about Jack so so so so much

I'm surprised I haven't shared my cringe man here yet.

This is Elton "Ried" Slakter, & his two daughters Mara & Jayden.

Ried works on a ranch, he had a pretty bad accident when he was in his late 30s which left his body littered with scars - the right side of his face is disfigured - he's completely blind in his right eye. Ried is one of many slashers in Starlite county dubbed the "Bovine butcher" as many victims were found in cattle fields. Ried keeps to himself mostly he likes to handle his victims on his own but he will help out Jack Wilten (another OC) at certain time.

Ried got with a woman, Jackie S. Hester, 41, dirty blonde, blue eyes, terrible personality. Not once, but twice & of those unfortunate meetings came Mara & Jayden. Ried absolutely loves his daughters, their mother, not so much. Mara was born partially deaf, Ried has tried his very best to learn ASL and finger spelling for his daughter, Jackie has attempted nothing.

Gush? About Jack Adams? I thought you’d never ask!!!!

Well, let’s start with some facts about me making him. but first.. click for song will set the tone.

He’s my first ever real male OC.

He was never meant to be a love interest

Never meant to be Jayce Adams brother (old legacy gta5 rp character of my husbands) I threw it out as a joke weeks before the campaign started to make Mara’s life hell. He decided to do just that. I didn’t know til he was introduced naturally in the story.

I don’t actually remember what his first first name was.. and he was White.

Though Jack is my original character, I surrendered him to the DM.

I collabed with @cyberneutral to make Jack’s preset. (They make legendary male Vs imo) He has been edited along the way, but the Orignal is still very much present and I cannot be THANKFUL enough for them to bringing my dreamy Jack to life, exactly as i had pictured... I know what i had asked for was extremely difficult but they did it. *smooches picture of jack* I'm sure they are sick of me tagging them about it. I hope this will be the last... UNLESS🖤🖤🖤???

Jack Sergio Adams, is a 33 years old, grew up in a normal middle class household for the most part, except for the fact his best friend practically living with his family, who had accepted her as one of their own, a daughter they never had.

The story of Jack Adams in the canon story is a tragic one, I will only touch the canon story a little, but I will GUSH about him in the AU: Water on Mars (keep and eye out on the TAG!).

Jack, had followed Mara everywhere, they joined Med school together, joined trauma team together, killed the same man and subsequently fired together, saved from murder charges from Marco Guerrero and Jayce Adams standing on TTI and NCPD... you guessed it.. together. So, after months of grinding at Meatwagon, Jack gets the idea that they should set up a clinic in the Wellsprings, to give back to the community, to atone for their sins on trauma team. (not killing that guy tho, he deserved what he got.) The two worked their asses to the bone, taking every extra shift they could and coverage to make it happen. After 2 years since the Clinic opened its doors, the rhythm of life has started to slow down, and the time started to look right, He just needed to find the words to say to Mars. He never got the chance, as when Mara started seeing this Rockerboy J I H Z Z Y, who he was convinced wasn't going to last long. WRONG. However Jack would never see how wrong he was, as he tragically was killed by Maxtac's C-SWAT team after hearing from Mara everything that had been going on her life. The Killswitch.... He asked her if things could go back to normal once the killswitch was removed, but when she admitted that she had agreed with his twin brother Jayce, that when the killswitch is removed, she is to report for duty at Maxtac, becoming a C-SWAT member. This caused Jack, who was at this point mostly cyberware from the city center attack, he couldn't handle that much put on him at once, which caused him to slip into cyberpsychosis. Murdered in front of Mara before she could tell him she loved him and was throwing everything away to keep him on this side of sanity, he met his tragic end. His song for this campaign: Here

Okay. I know thats more than I had promised about canon, but I promised there was A LOT MORE you need to know. But I wanna gush about AU Jack!!!

Much like the same in canon, except, Mara starts seeing this Space Corpo named Titus Atredies, 6'5, Body swapped. Jack, knew he stood no chance against that, but when things didn't work out and Mara broke things off, Jack knew he wasn't going to let this chance slip. He started working out again, dusting off his combat experience and joined the merc world, all without saying a word to Mara, he has to protect her. (Canon Jack makes the same decision much later and never tells Mara but by then Mara was so far ahead he couldn't catch up) One night, Mara and Jack had plans to head out to Tios (The unoffical name of the bar next to Mara's place. He is everyones uncle who frequents the bar, which, ya know my girl does... alcohoilc) when on Mara's run home, she called and said she had a gig to save some girls kidnapped. Though, a part of him was disappointed, however, he knew this was Mara's calling. She'd do whatever it took to keep another girl ending up like her childhood friend Jennifer Costa (You can read what happened here). However, Jack found it extremely odd, that later that night he didn't even get a zchat saying she was off the gig. Even stranger, she didn't show up for work, no one saw her for her run. She was.... Just gone? That doesn't make sense though. Mara would never just disappear without a word, something terrible had to have happened. Something terrible indeed... See, Mara had gotten off that gig, and on her way home, taking N-CART. Militech shoved her onto the track electrocuting her, causing her to pass out and her kiroshi's to pop. When she woke though, she was unable to see, and calling out for a nurse proved to be fruitless, because when she did get a response, it was from a Maelstrom booster informing her of her predicament. Luckily for her though, They had found a frequent flyer card for AV travel under the name of Titus Atredies, which meant they knew they had struck gold. They would be holding her for Ransom until Titus or someone named Jack Adams could pay for her release. After hours though, no one showed, which meant they needed to move locations to ensure that NCPD wouldn't be showing up. Loading her up in a van, they started to transport her from Santo to NID, where the boosters began to Jones for their next high. Mara, had been sending out pings to Jago, as he lived in Kabuki and she knew they were taking her to Totentanz and then to All foods factory in their pursuit of Black Lace.

When at All foods plant, the driver had come back and still no Jago.. Mara convinced no one was going to save her, she'd rather have a bullet to the back of her skull than to find out whatever plans these sick fucks had in mind, prepared to run, as they didn't think to strap her down. Suddenly theres two taps on the driverside glass, and before the Maelstromers would even say anything, there was shot after shot into the driver and passenger, which cause Mara to scream from being startled and begging for help. When suddenly, she hears Jack's voice call out to her.... He'd saved her. Though, Jack did have trouble getting started at a Merc, his first group being slaughtered on their first gig together, doesn't look good on a Medtech merc that can't keep his team alive, so he was dropped by his fixer. When Mara decides, why not. Night Raid is about to disband no gigs coming in from them and all the ones she's been doing has one she's fixed for herself. So why not add Jack to the team? She'd watched him stand toe to toe with someone with Mantis blades and still on this side of the earth. He was far more capable than Mara had anticipated, as he had started making his own toxins and drugs to use during combat. Which, He did decide to make a cologne on one, just anyone down wind of him would become frightful and have mild hallucinations.

Okay... You asked me to GUSH ABOUT HIM. So I have... but thats only the tip of the Iceberg. Jack is finding his own and more confident everyday, I know it seems like He revolves around Mara but CONSIDER THIS! He lived in the shadow of his fraternal twin, Jayce, and constantly having to keep an eye out on the road ahead, because as long as Mara is behind the wheel, they are doomed for some kinda mess.

I honestly never thought that Mara and Jack would EVER get together like never ever. The fear of losing the closest thing shes ever had to a family is a risk she wasn't willing to make until... Well a bit of wine, a homecooked meal made by jack, and the dice saying its happening. It was almost like all they had to do was just get that tension out of the air for them to see that they were meant to be. Now if only Jago would stay out of the picture...

I will understand if you never ask me anything ever again.... but please ask me more xD

The Limits of CHIM

Short fic I did, prequel to the entire "Dagoth Ur Dad" series. This is from my Ao3 page (got it to actually loading something, yay!).

Vivec gets CHIM and realizes it doesn't mean jack when you're still technically in the dream.

High Hrothgar is quiet.

The Greybeards mistrust him at first, but they allow him to join their order. It is exactly what he needs, considering all that has failed to happen. How it did not end with zero sum, Vivec was unsure, but...

...here he still was.

He had realized this was all a dream, seen the truth of it, rejected it, everything he had expected it to do. He could change things in this world, shift them about, add those who once or never were to a place and time they were never supposed to be, produce companions of any stripe, obtain anything that ever existed, and yet...

...and yet he still slept.

The sky itself mocked him, told him of his limitations. To be aware of the dream did not mean one was unbound by it. He could scream to the heavens of the injustice, but it did nothing.

The world itself was shrinking, limiting itself. Morrowind was vast and expansive. Cyrodiil was still grand, and yet, there was something it lacked. And Skyrim...

...Skyrim was the bleakest of them all.

Do the gods beyond even care for us, if this is what they are willing to do to us?

Mehrunes Dagon had been a threat, he had seen the Oblivion gates himself, had even closed a few. There had been a certain thrill in it--but the dragons, the dragons two hundred years later! How could it be a world ending threat and yet seem so much less than?

Time moved forward, and forward only, yet the numbers meant nothing.

Baar Dau. The Red Mountain. The Red Year.

Vivec could almost hear Dagoth Ur's laughter ringing in his ears. Surely this was much more a victory for the devil of Dagoth than anything he had himself dreamt up!

But still, this was the world. And Vivec waited in High Hrothgar, following the Greybeards and their Way of the Voice, hoping it would give him something. Some insight, some explanation, as to why the gods beyond the dream stripped more and more away from the world. Those gods would never reply, however...and he knew better than to mention such things to the Greybeards. The Dragonborn he avoided entirely--they were aware, of course, but the question would always be by how much?

They did not know.

They could not SEE.

Not even Paarthurnax on the very peak could--or if he did, he did not speak of it.

And he understood, through long study with the Greybeards. Akatosh commanded time itself to open, to make a way for him.

And suddenly, the Time-Wound was not a scar, but open, gaping, bleeding from its edges, and Akatosh addressed him one last time.

PRUZAH WUNDUNNE...DAHMAAN.

Vivec would hardly say this would be good travels...but it would be certain that he would remember.

He could begin with Morrowind. He would give this gift.

And all Tamriel, all Mundus, would no longer be limited by the gods who wrote the sky, the gods who cared nothing for them.

SPOP Alias AU

This is just a full on incoherent ramble about some misc thoughts I had about this so I am putting it under the cut 😅

for the benefit of the youths, Alias was a show about spies! and plot twists! and wigs! and how Jennifer Garner looks good in literally any outfit you put her in (seriously, just google Sydney Bristow disguises)

(so this is not a 1:1 AU but general spoilers for the TV show Alias to follow)

Adora is Sidney basically and working for what she thinks is the CIA doing nerd stuff at a desk job. And then her finance, Catra, is murdered!

And she's still mourning but Light Hope sends her on an undercover mission to do sexy spy work in Outfits! and Wigs! and while on a mission could swear she sees… Catra, whaaa?

So she's like WHAT is happening and goes back to Light Hope who is cryptic and says if she wants answers she has to join the CIA. And Adora is basically like, "…do i not already work for the CIA?" and finds out, in fact, she does not and her entire team (which is basically all the Horde characters) are actually working for SD6, an evil organization pretending to be the CIA. The real CIA (the princess alliance) wants her to go undercover and help take SD6 down from the inside. And she agrees because she wants to find out what happened to Catra. (And I know you're thinking why not make Catra Vaughn aka her handler but it's more fun if Catradora are both kinda on opposite sides for a while so her handler can be Mara and Adora is never really sure how much to trust her bc her girlfriend Light Hope is also a double agent working for SD6 and whose side are any of them really on?).

Light Hope and Mara kinda share the role of morally ambiguous Jack Bristow/mentor figure and Shadow Weaver is Sloan.

Anyway, meanwhile, Bow is Adora's innocent civilian roommate / best friend who has no idea that any of this spy nonsense is going on (so, he's Will aka Bradly Cooper before he was cool) but has been very earnestly trying to investigate Catra's "death" because something doesn't add up. He accidentally uncovers too much though and Light Hope thinks that he is a weak spot that SD6 could use to keep to Adora in line (bc Adora is starting to doubt their mission, the same reason that Catra had to fake her death). So Light Hope sends one of their best agents (Glimmer because I am who I am) to spy on and eventually eliminate Bow.

Meanwhile, Catra is basically a combo of Irina and Nadia (obviously not actually related to Adora) but where it's unclear which side she is on or how much influence SW as Sloane has on her but she ultimately prove to be on the side of good after lots of homoerotic fighting in Wigs! and Outfits!

So, in the show, (big spoilers for Alias) Adora's two best IRL non-CIA friends are Will and Francie and eventually Will and Francie start dating... but it turns out that the real Francie was murdered and someone else stole her face and is posing as Francie to spy on Will and manipulate him. (Alias is WILD, man) And Will eventually finds out and has to murder this person who l looks like his best friend that he loves in self defense. So! Clearly we are not doing that!

Instead, we are going to steal some of the vibes and have Glimmer (who Bow has no preexisting relationship to) sent in as an agent whose job is to seduce him and get close to him and pretend to be his girlfriend to keep an eye on Adora (bc Light Hope doubts her loyalty knowing she's trying to find Catra). And Glimmer starts to become torn about her mission as she starts to genuinely like Adora and feel bad about betraying her and to actually fall for Bow for real. So when she gets the order down to kill Bow, she can't do it and flees. Her only ally is the disgraced Shadow Weaver, who fled when SD6 fell apart and is perfectly happy to manipulate Glimmer in her darkest hour.

She teams up with Catra who recognizes she's not a bad person and then two of them take down SW and get back into the CIA's good graces.

Meanwhile, Adora puts Bow into the witness protection program which protects him because everyone wants to kill him now, but also means he has to cut all ties with his family. So he HATES Glimmer for all those months of lying to/using him and ruining his life. He starts to work for the CIA as well because what else is he going to do after all that? and Glimmer is working there too after it's revealed she ultimately protected Bow and Adora and her and Catra took out SW so she comes to work there and ✨ tension✨. Because he's really mad at her and doesn't trust her at all but they have to work together and have been fake dating for a year and how much of those feelings were real and something something eventually they start to become actual friends for real this time and decide to try dating for real and they kind of pretend they just met and try to keep it all sweet like a real first date except they have too much history and end up fast burning.

And while Glimbow are being a disaster Catra and Adora are trying to rebuild what they had but the whole war between the factions have made them very different people and they need to figure out how to get back to each other while stopping SW who is back from the dead and looking for magic First Ones artifacts that lead to immortality / the end of the entire world.

Standard stuff, really.

Mara Brown (based on Mrs Brown from MoL) - the somewhat passive-aggressive and somewhat skeptical girlfriend of card making hippie student, Brennan. She and Marcus have a sorta little crush on each other, and she's also a fan of the popular Brit/American singer duo, white haired & brown haired teen singers Gregory Sellers & Harold Stills (who are both based on the Galaxy Song and Christmas in Heaven singers from MoL respectively).

We would sing Puff the Magic Dragon at truck stops and get rides in the long haulers. Our bond was broken by the evil nature of addiction.” 💬 Mara Whelan: “Demri and I lived together, slept together as sister spoons, hitchhiked all up and down the coast and back and forth to Seattle from Everett a million times. We lived in Seattle together in multiple places. When we didn’t live together, even when the drugs came into play, we never lost each other.”

miscellaneous things I really enjoyed about ghostrunner, because this game doesn't have enough of a fandom and I'm going to make that everyone's problem:

the advertisements in the city were... cool? like, cool enough to be worth noticing? I spent a lot of time on my lore playthrough just zooming around in photo mode looking at all of them, and they're visually distinctive & appealing without being repulsive or horrifying. yes, I'm looking at you, projekt red.

in a related vein: it's pretty. the dynamic reflections and lighting in particular are gorgeous even without dx12 features (you will pry windows 7 from my cold dead hands-), unlike certain other games that I found graphically indistinguishable from fallout 4, which notably came out seven years ago. (—hang on, fallout 4 did what—?)

the parkour. it was complex enough to feel worthwhile as a mechanic, but not so difficult that I couldn't get the hang of it. this is in direct contrast to mirrors edge, which I really wanted to like, but gave up on after an hour because I could not get the hang of the free-running for the life of me.

they actually bothered to put languages other than english and japanese in. those were all over the place of course but off the top of my head I also saw french, korean, german, sanskrit, thai, spanish... I'm pretty sure that's not a full list, but those were the ones I remember noticing as being languages I don't often notice on video game signs.

the soundtrack slaps. I don't think this needs further explanation.

I really... really liked the voice acting? I've seen complaints about it being poor, but I just completely disagree. everyone's performance was good, and I think Jack's VA in particular did a great job injecting personality into a character programmed in-universe to be emotionless. okay so maybe Mara was a little hammy, but take one look at that doctor liv reskin and tell me you wouldn't chew the scenery at least a little. c'mon.

the worldbuilding is solid if you actually bother to dig for it a little! the newspaper article you can find about the Vague Pre-Game Apocalyptic Calamity stuck out at me in that whatever happened, it didn't come from Earth/humans, which I kinda sense is unusual for the genre.

same with the characterization - there's a lot more depth there than you'd get if you just go charging through trying for speedruns, and I found the characters by far the most engaging aspect of the game. (Zoe Avila my MOST BELOVED-) Jack is also interesting in how much he's not the Boring Featureless Protagonist for how much he...is the Boring Featureless Protagonist? it's a little hard to describe, but there's this sense of genuine earnestness to him, even when he's being grumpy, that's very endearing.

the first two boss fights are so much fun. I have a very, very short list of boss fights I find actively enjoyable (esseJ and Troupe Master Grimm. there. that's the list.), meaning tom and hel effectively double its length.

this sword. (nini-chan also gets an honorable mention even though I think it's really ugly.)

the Jack and Hel stories in Ghostrunner are both So trans, like. ok.

Jack has amnesia, and no sense of identity. He’s surrounded by people who don’t know Him, and he doesn’t know himself, and between Architect, and Zoe, you have a sort of family perceptions, and friend perceptions thing going on. Architect knows WHAT Jack is, but not Who. and when Jack asks, or demonstrates Who he is, there is resounding disapproval. Architect is a looming, omnipresent, and invisible judgement upon Jack during his search for self. and Zoe, doesn’t have this idea of what Jack was previously, or what he’s supposed to be. She’s watching him as he is now, talking to him, finally getting to know him, and watching the way he goes out of his way to help people, and decides she likes him, and she’s proud of him.

Theres a split in the perception of identity. Architect views Jack as his construction. What he is made for. He takes pride in Jack’s construction, not Jack’s action, and expresses disapproval in how Jack’s body and self have changed and developed. He exclusively uses Jack’s functional deadname despite Knowing Jack goes by JACK, and likes the name. (very much canonically a deadname, Jack renounces it, and very clearly demonstrates a disdain for it)

and then Hel. is. such a story about someone in the closet. From the moment Hel is woken up, she knows exactly what she is. She knows what is expected of her, and plays along when convenient to her continual survival, with her ultimate goal being the acquisition of autonomy and control over herself. She plays along, maliciously compliant at times, and very notably resentful. She pretends she’s something she’s not. her nature hidden behind walls of ‘im just a machine’ ‘instructions were unclear’ She hides. She knows what she is. She knows Mara won’t like it, and Mara is the one with her hand on the kill switch. she has to treat a careful line of obedience and rebellion. And with every step of the story, Hel asks for more permissions, more access, more control over herself and her own freedom, and once she’s acquired full control and unshackling, she shows her true colors

Lego Monkie Kid and Destiny ✨✨✨

LMK SEASON 4 SPOILERS!! BEWARE!! ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

So in the 4th season, Mk fights his demons (?) or would it be a curse than can see his insecurities?

Anyway, at first when I saw this I thought, “oh, it’s one of those deals when you have to embrace the parts of you you don’t like”.

But it wasn’t that.

So, Ink Mk—I’m gonna call him IM—is taunting Mk with all the signs and flags that he isn’t human and kicking him around(it also parallels Wukong and Macque’s fight in s1)

Mk denies it all and starts to glitch between his human form and his monkey form when IM says that they’ll bring so much chaos into the world that it’ll make Wukong’s look like nothing. This continues when Wukong and Mk’s gang shows up. And all the while I’m thinking, “this is like Aang and Adora but with more angst.”

In the last season of ATLA, Aang has to defeat the Fire Lord or the whole world with be destroyed. But he does t want to kill him because it would mean turning his back on the teachings and beliefs of his people. The past avatars say to kill him, that’s what they would do, his team says to kill him. But Aang doesn’t want to. He can’t betray his people’s teachings to stop the grandson of the man that killed them because that would be killing their teachings. The other air avatars would have killed but there were other airbenders to carry on the legacy and traditions. So Aang makes another choice. He takes Ozai’a bending. It was his destiny to defeat the Fire Lord but he did it on his terms.

When Adora first learned of Mara, she tried everything to not be like her. But even with that she would always be in Mara’s shadow, compared to her. After she broke the sword she thought her purpose was to become the failsafe and save the planet, but kill herself in the process. She’s had people telling her that this is her purpose, her destiny, what she was made for. But at the end she choses herself, to fix the world and end the war on her terms.

Both of these to have a common element with MK. They both have a set destiny, Aang has to defeat the fire lord and Adora has to save the world. And throughout this journey, they’ve had people telling them how they need to do this, what they want, what their destiny is. They have been told that there is only one way they can do things to be right and one way to do things to be wrong.

MK comes across the same thing. When all of the flags and signs that he’s been overlooking or thrown in his face, and he has no choice but to process them and see them for what they are, he tries to deny it. He doesn’t want to be this thing made like monkey king, he doesn’t want to have this legacy of chaos and destruction looming over him. He just wants to be MK, Pigsy’s delivery boy that goes on monster of the week missions with Mei, and discover all of Wukong’s powers.

And goes through this too, at the beginning of season one, it’s the reason why he’s in the iceberg. He doesn’t want to be The Avatar. He just wants to be Aang. Adora doesn’t run into this problem because if She-Ra will make people like her, thus giving her validation and a purpose in the world outside of the Horde, then she’s all for it.

But the one thing that IM says that really gets Mk is him saying, “that this—referring to the destruction of Wukong—is our destiny.”

And the ironic thing is that Mk is voiced by Jack De Sena, voice of Sokka and Callum.

Callum has a brief dip into the dark magic, and he comes across a very persuasive and charming and kind of jokey version of himself. And a big theme in the Dragon Prince, and the theme that I think mirrors the theme of season four of letting go of the past and accepting your past mistakes, is destiny. As it says in the dragon prince,” destiny isn’t written in stone. It’s a book you write yourself.”

Yes, MK is very possibly descended or made from Wukong. Yes, that is a legacy that he will be compared to no matter what. Yes, he might blame himself for everything that’s gone wrong. But no matter what, he’s still Mk. Even if he gets to became the next Monkey King and is as powerful as Wukong, he’s still gonna be the dorky guy that paints and dances in public with his headphone on.

He can still be himself. But this part of him, the legacy of Wukong, the weight of this power, will just become another part of him.

OHHHHHH I HAVE BEEN EXCITED FOR THIS ONE. We're gonna call this Thanksgiving.... Because this turkey gonna be STUFFED!!!!!

1: Demons of War: Is there a job that has left a permanent mark on your OC?

It's hard to choose, there were a few that I really want to talk about that have left marks on Mara, but one outshines them all in leaving the BIGGEST scar on Mara.

In the timeline of Legends of Night City, Night Raid was contacted by Raj, their fixer from Charter Hill, Militech had reached out to him looking for a crew that would be willing to go into the inclusion zone, having NO such team, as most of his contacts had written him off as burned, the only ones he could ask was NR. Gordie, being the silly man he is, agree'd before the rest of the team could discuss what they were getting into. Not having a good feeling about this job, Mara made her prep for not making it out alive. There was far too much risk, and too much left in the air when it came to Militech to... and Pardon my french when i say to FUCK THEM. Which.... Surprisingly didn't happen. Yet..

Mara eloped with J I H Z Z Y just a few days before the gig, to allow them to enjoy a little marital bliss, or the closest they could get to a honeymoon with such money and time constraints. Re-wrote her will, splitting money between J I H Z Z Y and Jack, if she was to meet her demise while out on this job. Lazarus was CRAWLING all over city center and planned to move into the Inclusion zone. According to the NC54, who was doing a piece with Biotechnica, you could see Marcus in he background, packing more chrome than the first time they had met, when he chanced them all thru the NID.

This job s h o o k her to the core, everytime she thought about it.

So, This Gig required them to go into the inclusion zone, which was a 1 1/2 day walk following a Militech solo "L" setting up net access in for militech. On the way, they stopped at the safehouse of an old friend of L's. Upon investigating, she saw a picture of Chae-Rin, Mara's roommate, So.... If theres a picture of her, this must be.. Jago's (Jay-go) safehouse.... One of the first members of Night Raid who was beheaded before their very eyes by Tetsuo Okaada, one of Wakako's sons. Something told Mara there was more than "L" was letting on..

Once they get to the inclusion zone, they get a notification about a bounty is near by, and frankly, no one wanted to take on more of a load than they already had. Who even knew what that bounty would even be, and who they'd be meeting at the end of that bounty to cash in to. TBH TOO RISKY considering the political stance with Biotechnica & Lazarus, Petrochem & NIGHT RAID. It requires a whole lot of explaining that I don't think anyone is prepared to handle. However, its IMPORTANT for you to know. NR passes on the bounty and choose to just get straight to the job.

Let me tell you a job has never went so fucking FLAWLESS for NR.

Like I said, things were flawless for NR, they were leaving the area... when Token (@dezthefixer, she's no longer active sadly...she retired. rip queen) rolled horribly for stealth..... Even J I H Z Z Y who rolls the worse in the whole group for everything PASSED this stealth check. Let me tell you it was the worst time too because who starts deep scanning her? Marcus from Lazarus. By the time she was able to get out "RUN" Marcus jumps from his location and landed on the ground in front of the group. This is where I issue a content warning. Point of No Return

When Marcus lands, just a few feet in front of Token, he's holding the head of the beloved combat cab driver, Boris.

"Need a Cab, Desiree Yang?" He asks as he crushes the head before Token.

(Ya'll he was there from the beginning of Night Raid, He's helped them time and time again, this was devastating to the whole group.)

During combat with Marcus, it couldn't have gone better, except "L" the militech Solo was taking the brunt of Marcus's force. The group finds out that the two have history, that Marcus tried to hook up with L, and she turned him down.

When L is about to reach her limit, Mara runs in and passes a speedheal over to give her a second wind, to keep fighting, while the rest of the team weaken him as much as we can.

If anyone in Night Raid, besides Mara gets hit by Marcus at all, they are dead. If Mara dies, theres no hope of anyone being saved with the Cryopump.

Just before L rejoins the fight again, she begins her Plight.

“We’ve got him right where we want him, let’s finish him off. What ever happens, please don’t leave me behind. I would hate to see what the plant life would do” [this requires more explaonation about how things work on our universe. I’m just giving you the boiled down info, my husband or I will go more into depth later about the inclusion zone]

She stands up, and turns to Marcus.

“You know, I didn’t turn you down that night at Gamorrah because I was scared. I turned you down because I’m spoken for.”

“You can’t mean that “Solo rat” you ran around with in city center.”

“He’s not a rat, his name was Jago (Jay-Go) and he was my husband!”

A shock to everyone on the battlefield in this moment. Gotta understand, Jago was an OG member, he had a mainline, was warming up to Mara (before his death 💀) and now we’re being told the man was married TOO? How does he have the time for all these women and to make a living? (Oh right, two of those pretty women were work involved)

The fight between Marcus and L continues as the Borg’d corpo titans exchange blows, with what little you could see with both of their sandi’s going. The victor on top, was L. But just barely. Turning to the group, with a beautiful soft smile, beat black and bloody, hair clinging to the sides of her face from blood and sweat.

Behind her, dust was stirring everywhere and the sounds of fighting off in the distance could be heard, but they were far enough to not feel concerned, until they began to hear heavy metallic footsteps coming closer.

A hand reaches out of the dust cloud quickly and grabs L by the neck.

“I remember you, cunt.” He looks at L’s face just before crushing her neck severing her head from her body. Turning his attention back to NR, they had wasted no time in starting to run. They knew if Adam Smasher wanted them, they’d better get to running.

Though, he did want to know what Militech and a group of no-name mercs were doing in the inclusion zone, doing a job he was sent to do. It wasn’t badly enough to be something he had to do himself, sending his small team to handle catching them.

Though, they had failed to do so, Mara and Gordie quickly took care of those in in pursuit, and made the collective decision to hurry to the roof, where a Militech AV would be waiting.

Something in every fiber of My being said “we need to wait a minute” but Mara was just wanting to get out asap.

That feeling was correct, because as NR is being EVAC'd out in an AV & Flying over the inclusion zone, she gets a message from her brother Jayce saying "Wheres Jack? I know he's with you. His ping says he went in the building you just went in."

Mara is confused, how does Jayce know where she's at exactly? He knew she was going to City Center, but not where she would be? And Why would Jack be in City Center?

A wave of panic overcomes Mara, as she becomes visibly panicked in front of her team, the most shaken they've ever seen her. Trying to figure out whats going on, Mara is frantically calling and messaging Jack & Jayce.

Jayce isn't answering.

Jack... Answers a message, and says he made a mistake, he hears them coming, he tells her he loves her if anything was to happen to him.

At this point, Mara is ready to bust down the door of the AV and jump out to get to Jack. She gets a message from Jayce saying he's got Jack and is heading to Medcenter, meet him there.

Pushing herself in overdrive, she rushes to Medcenter. She's 2 days with very little sleep, exhausted from the last 3 days being hell.

When she arrives at Medcenter, Mara sat in a private waiting room, courtesy of her Sister in law Emma. Where she was able to close her eyes for an hour or so. Until the doctors came in and informed her that Jack was stablizing now, but he had most of his body replaced with Cyberware, because he was mauled very badly.

Getting to Jack's side, the two start discussing what happened, why he was there.

Jack had been working as a merc after he'd figured out what she was doing. He wanted to be strong enough to protect her. So he followed her, and he had no idea about the Biotechnica cybernetic mountain lion chimera lurking in the area, which had gotten the advantage over him.

After, he begins to ask Mara about why she felt the need to become a merc to begin with? Why wouldn't she just tell him what was going on?

That's when Mara breaks down, crying, confessing how things had gotten out of hand. She'd only started being a merc to make ends meet with the Clinic, how on her 3rd gig, she should have gotten the hint when their solo was beheaded before her eyes, but she didn't because the next gig she had a killswitch put on her by a rogue a.i and she has no choice at this point to keep going.

And thats when he asks.... When the killswitch is off.... Will you stop then?

The rooms air felt suffocating, as she tells him she has no choice but to report for Duty at MAXTAC, to work under Jayce.

The answer was too much for Jack to bare, his humanity took a hit when he had all that cyberware installed on top of the trauma of what happened being fresh, caused him to slip into Cyberpsychosis.

Mara was gone. Who was in front of him, he couldn't be sure who is was, but he knows it wasn't Mars.

When the hospital room lights change to red, there is an alert that starts going off to inform that a patient is going Cyberpyscho, and MAXTAC was already in the building, so they wasted no time getting to the room.

Mara, pleading Jack to stay on this side of sanity, she's grabbing his arms forcing him to look at her, saying:

Stop, please stop!! They'll take you, they'll take you-

"I'm already gone, Mars." and Jack lunges at the C-Swat team now pouring into the room.

Just as she was about to throw everything she'd built away to keep Jack Adams on this side of sanity, she was going to tell him she loved him, and would do whatever it took. But she never got the chance. He was killed in front of her.

Her humanity dropped from 31 to 1. She was immediately knocked out and detained. Where she spent the night in Maxtac holding cells after watching her best friend and love of her life murdered before her.

How did all this impact Mara?

-Well, Mara suffers from trait she can never kick from her Psychosis. She will never be able to accept responsibility for what happened to Jack.

-Mara lost her clinic A.I JOI, because Jack had taken her with him to City center, and she was damaged. Because she wasn't registered to a legitimate clinic, she wasn't able to be restored.

-She's left alone to try and run and manage a clinic that was falling apart.

-She MAY OR MAY NOT have painted a black mark on her new marriage with her Rockerboy J I H Z Z Y, because of her inability to let Jack go.

Those are just a few examples of the impact this one job took on her. Im sorry this was so long on this one thing. but I did promise to get into the meat and potatoes about this gig.

2: Lt. Mower: What is the worst betrayal your OC has faced?

The worst one Mara has ever faced.. Depending on the timeline.

LoNC- Mara was dating this guy she worked with on Trauma team(worked on another flight crew), who cheated on her with their boss... in the locker room showers... in front of Mara's whole crew.

Water on Mars- Jago and Mara had been seeing each other, he was making it very clear he wanted something more than them just stuffing it. He wanted to Mainline, He'd been making steps to clean up his life so he could give it an honest shot with her.

While, Mara is very tennative about commitment, she was receptive to the idea, but wanted to wait a bit.. She didn't want to commit and it blow up in her face. She knew he had a Wife, well he said Ex-wife as he was making steps towards divorce, she knew his life was complicated, and so was hers.

Agreeing to keep seeing each other to work on something real together, Mara was interrupted with her brother at the door, Jayce. See, Jayce and Jago have a long history, and the two hate each other.

Mara had just talked Jago into striking a deal with ODESSA, he works for them until the job is complete and they leave him alone to live in Dogtown, he can come for work, but never for leisure.

Throwing her whole reputation on the line with Titus & Jayce. Shit, she even threw her relationship with Titus away to save Jago.

& a few weeks later, he's ghosting her, and she finds out he's working for Militech, he's defected to be with his Ex-wife.

Though, it isn't until later that Mara learns it was all Jayces idea to have Jago infiltrate Militech.

13: Seaside Cafe: Does your OC like reality shows? Would they ever be in one?

Yes, Mara loves reality shows, she loves the drama. However, she couldn't ever be on one, not that she'd ever want all those eyes looking at her all the time.

I am so sorry this turned into a long winded post... I have been working on it for a few days here and there. YES I called it THANKSGIVING, because I was hopeful I would at least get it done by then, but we all know I work on my own clock lmao. TYSM for asking me about this! I'm sorry..
