rafe cameron dating a swiftie
Tumblr media
lol lowkey wrote this just for me but just in case there's fellow swifties out there who also happen to be rafe girls, here ya gooooo <3 i also need to replenish my creative juices w a nap so… yeah :) promise i’ll have another fic up soon!!
pairing: bf!rafe x swiftie!reader
context: you're a swiftie dating rafe cameron.
words: 325
warnings: reader's a MAJOR swiftie
you didn't even have to ask for eras tour tickets. rafe immediately got them for you when it was announced, and used ward's card to do it.
speaking of the eras tour, he 100% went with you.
and you definitely got him to dress up as "the heartbreak prince". he didn't put up as much of a fight as you thought—anything to make you happy.
"why do you listen to this shit?" "shut up rafe!"
he's taylor's biggest hater and will NEVER admit to listening to her with you in the car.
he definitely knows the words to a few songs though.
you hiding your smile when he begins singing along to taylor in the car.
always making him slow dance to taylor swift songs with you in the kitchen—he loves it more than he'll ever admit.
you singing and screaming taylor's saddest songs like you guys are broken up.
rafe getting annoyed when you do.
"we're not broken up, you know."
while he "hates" her, he never misses a new album listening party with you.
will gift you every single one of her vinyls and even get you a record player to play them in.
gets you swiftie merch during every drop.
folklore's lowkey his favorite album.
his favorite songs are "wildest dreams" and "style".
"tall and handsome as hell, huh?"
him grinning ear to ear at you as you sing along to her love songs in the car—he likes to think you sing them just for him.
rafe standing outside your window with a speaker playing taylor swift when you get mad and stop talking to him.
"you're such a swiftie boyfriend, you know that?" "shut the fuck up, no i'm not."
him knowing the names of all her albums just because he likes to buy them for you.
he always puts on the stolen versions and you always scold him for it.
"this isn't taylor's version." "oh my god what's the difference?"
reblogs and comments are deeply appreciated <33

Taylor Swift is giving fans more insight into her new album “The Tortured Poets Department,” thanks to a track-by-track experience with Amazon Music.
Fans can now listen to the album — which shattered streaming records after its release on April 19 — along with commentary from Swift breaking down the meaning of each track. To listen to “The Tortured Poets Department” with Swift’s commentary, fans can simply say to Alexa, “I’m a member of ‘The Tortured Poets Department.'”
Through the experience, Swift has revealed the inspiration behind songs including “Fortnight” with Post Malone, “Clara Bow,” “Florida!!!” with Florence + the Machine, “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” and “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys.”
“‘Fortnight’ is a song that exhibits a lot of the common themes that run throughout this album. One of which being fatalism — longing, pining away, lost dreams,” Swift said of the album’s opening song. “I think that it’s a very fatalistic album in that there are lots of very dramatic lines about life or death. ‘I love you, it’s ruining my life.’ These are very hyperbolic, dramatic things to say. It’s that kind of album.”
Of “Clara Bow,” named after the silent film actress, Swift said the track is “a commentary on what I’ve seen in the industry that I’ve been in over time.”
“I used to sit in record labels trying to get a record deal when I was a little kid. And they’d say, ‘you know, you remind us of’ and then they’d name an artist, and then they’d kind of say something disparaging about her, ‘but you’re this, you’re so much better in this way or that way.’ And that’s how we teach women to see themselves, as like you could be the new replacement for this woman who’s done something great before you,” she said. “I picked women who have done great things in the past and have been these architypes of greatness in the entertainment industry. Clara Bow was the first ‘it girl.’ Stevie Nicks is an icon and an incredible example for anyone who wants to write songs and make music.”
“Florida!!!” featuring Florence + the Machine is one of the rare songs on the album that doesn’t see Swift directly speaking of a former lover. Swift said the inspiration for this track actually came from “always watching ‘Dateline.'”
“People have these crimes that they commit; where do they immediately skip town and go to? They go to Florida,” the singer added. “They try to reinvent themselves, have a new identity, blend in. I think when you go through a heartbreak, there’s a part of you that thinks, ‘I want a new name. I want a new life. I don’t want anyone to know where I’ve been or know me at all.’ And so that was the jumping off point. Where would you go to reinvent yourself and blend in? Florida!”
As for “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me,” Swift revealed that she wrote the tune “alone, sitting at the piano in one of those moments when I felt bitter about just all the things we do to our artists as a society and as a culture.”
“There’s a lot about this particular concept on ‘The Tortured Poets Department,'” she added. “What do we do to our writers, and our artists, and our creatives? We put them through hell. We watch what they create, then we judge it. We love to watch artists in pain, often to the point where I think sometimes as a society we provoke that pain and we just watch what happens.”
Lastly, Swift broke down the metaphor within “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys.”
The song is about “being somebody’s favorite toy until they break you and then don’t want to play with you anymore,” she said. “Which is how a lot of us are in relationships where we are so valued by a person in the beginning, and then all of the sudden, they break us or they devalue us in their mind. We’re still clinging on to ‘No no, no. You should’ve seen them the first time they saw me. They’ll come back to that. They’ll get back to that.’”

Why isn't TTPD (based on Metacritic score) as critically acclaimed as Taylor's recent past albums, specifically Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights?
after reading the negative interviews here’s some common threads (i’m saying these as charitably as possible but like don’t get me wrong i disagree with some of these)
it’s long, and there’s definitely some tracks that could be cut (there is no common consensus on which tracks exactly, largely because they don’t actually say which ones)
the album isn’t playing in new sonic territory as much as folkmore, and to a lesser degree, midnights, especially the jack antonoff tracks
a combination of the more laid back sound, mixed metaphors, and flowery language make it hard to feel like the songs are building to something. instead it just ends up putting equal emphasis on the whole thing and thus making it all fade into the background
she’s saying she’s struggling in her lyrics but it doesn’t come through in her delivery or instrumentation
it’s still the same types of things she’s been singing about since she was a teenager, making the album seem even more muted
her songs swing from super flowery language to super conversational language and it makes the flowery language seem overwrought and the conversational language seem cringey (can not stress how charitable i am being with this. the amount of reviews that will just take a lyric out of context and be like, isn’t this bad? moving on!)
funny things i noticed
people still don’t like taylor swift writing songs about things that happened to taylor swift and at this point i just don’t know what to tell them
there’s a lot of thinly veiled, or just outright said, “young fanbase means bad art” going on
the paste’s review is ridiculous. in one paragraph she’s like “she’s too relatable!” and in another she’s like “she’s too unrelatable!”. i’m pretty sure it implies taylor wrote my boy only breaks his favorite toys to capitalize on barbenheimer. like. i get having someone who isn’t a fan of taylor review her album but at a certain point it’s like, well yeah if you’re looking for reasons to not like taylor swift then you’ll obviously find them. and like, for a random hate listen, fun whatever, but if you’re going to be professionally reviewing her album at least be consistent about why you hate it (also. side salad. whenever people hate taylor but love cjr i’m like. right cool uhuh you sure are invested in not liking taylor as a personality trait rather than a matter of taste)
everybody likes but daddy i love him. even the most negative reviews were like, to be fair, but daddy i love him slaps and the line “i’m having his baby! no im not but you should see your faces” is funny (which feels a bit hypocritical in all the reviews that are like ‘she keeps writing the about same stuff that she did as a teenager!’ but like. bdilh is just that good so i understand)

I took this screenshot last night and I forget what triggered this face but I love Hassian so much. Once I got him to level 3 friendship he really started letting down his walls. (We're courting now too. Flirting, basically, but also a bit more formalized from what I can tell. Early stages of dating? Idk.)
Some fun snatches of character building I've gotten: As a child, he didn't belong to any village and he kinda misses the feeling of being tied down or something like that. Like he misses being a wandering spirit and not having ties. Also, all he ever wanted in life was a purpose in life(I THINK), a hearth to call his own, and someone to share it with, and why was that so hard to find? Darling... (Cause you chose the wrong woman first, with champagne problems)
(As I delve into the lore I feel Foolish One/Champagne Problems/Message in a Bottle for Tamala/Hassian OH and August. I still think WCS might be on there but we'll have to see)
(I can't wait to see if I'll get more info from Kenyatta and Nai'o when I get to lvl 3 for them. Nai'o has also become super flirty with me and I'm like. I have no interest in trying to steal you from Kenyatta, cool it off, dude. But he's sweet. Reth and Tish are also up to Lvl 2. Very interesting stuff(I know the story to some degree). And Jina and Einar duh. Did you know Hekla didn't know the sun until Jina took her out of storage :( I love this town so much.)
But this was so much fun. WAIT no I remember. I did his lvl 3 friendship quest of finding his poetry and when he asked if I enjoyed the poems I said I loved them and he made this face in shock. Honestly me too bby. Me too when people like my writing. Or show they care about me.

Song of the Day: December 6
"Your Body Is A Weapon" by the Wombats
#song of the day#'someone protect me from the one I love' looping in my head#this is another fun song to sing. who comes up with lines like 'my body is a temple of doom / doomed not to be / by your side'#I have to admit also for all that some of my favorite people are very guitar people I do not have an ear for it#so the Wombats like Greta Van Fleet and a couple others sound like older bands to me. very very surprised to find this song is from 2015#I mentioned the other day that I usually have an origin story for most of the songs I know because mostly I get them from specific places#recommendations and curated playlists and such#and partially that really helps my memory for songs! they all come with strong associations! self-creating mnemonics!#but also it really skews my perception of when songs are from and how popular they are#the other day I played a song for Nick that I thought he'd like#and I did tell him that I thought it was probably a cover because a lot of the other songs on the playlist were#and he looked at me like I was truly stupid and he said 'it's definitely a cover. because that is a Taylor Swift song'#and I was genuinely just like neat! good to know!#I did listen to the original and I do think I like the cover better but my taste is so specific and scattered that it means nothing#I also apparently heard Sleep Token's new album right as it came out in a way that impressed Nick by like#how cutting-edge my metal knowledge was I guess. hipster-style immediate knowledge of the new release. before it was cool etc#and I had to be like nah bro it was a fic title I googled I get no credit for this. also I didn't know the band existed before this album#there's no way I was looking for the new release. the song the album and the band all just came into being before me simultaneously#this ramble is really long now and I feel like y'all get the point#the Wombats are cool though

jj maybank dating a swiftie
Tumblr media
in honor of ttpd, and bc i made a rafe version so it was only right to feed my jj girlies too <33
pairing: bf!jj x swiftie!reader
context: you're a swiftie dating jj maybank.
words: 278
warnings: reader's a MAJOR swiftie
let's be real, jj's 100% a closeted swiftie and the BIGGEST swiftie boyfriend ever—like screams the lyrics with you in the twinkie and everything.
he's not a kook, but he would definitely work extra hours and save up just to get you tickets to the eras tour.
"j, you didn't have to do this." "i wanted to."
he'd match and dress up with you, no question.
pope and john b would 100% make fun of him for it, but he wouldn't care.
"anything for my girl," he says, squeezing you up to his side as kie and sarah take pics of the two of you.
his favorite songs are cruel summer and betty—and he knows every word to each of them.
he'll occasionally surprise you with one of her cd's so you can play her in the twinkie.
dancing with him to ALL of her songs—slow or not.
his favorite album is 1989.
when you can't sleep at night, he'll put on folklore or evermore and play with your hair until you do.
he knows to only put on taylor's version.
he'll organize a swiftie themed birthday party for you.
"i can't believe you guys did this!" "it was all jj's idea."
him only posting you to taylor swift songs on his stories; you doing the same for him.
matching taylor swift captions on insta posts.
he could listen to you sing and play taylor on your guitar for HOURS.
"i've loved you three summers now, honey" "... but i want them all."
him knowing all of the titles to her albums.
"you're such a swiftie boyfriend, you know that?" "i am not! … okay, maybe just a little."
expect a new part to my jj/rafe series by tn!! :)
reblogs and comments are deeply appreciated <33
