okay weird comment etiquette question for other fic authors only, does anyone else feel weird about comments where people mention other fics by name or link to them?
like for me personally, if someone comments on my celebrity au saying "oh, i just read '[title of another celebrity au for the pairing]' and its so interesting reading such different takes!" that comment isn't insulting to either fic, but especially if i haven't read the other fic or have and found it to have problems (out of character, etc), i don't like it because it almost feels like im endorsing that fic by leaving the link attached to my own work.
i have less of an issue with someone saying "i read a fic where [x] happens and...." (rest of comment, etc) if they dont give the information to find the fic or the author. it can be weird depending on the context, but usually that's fine to me, even if someone else who read that fic might be able to identify it from the comment. Mostly i think that's because there's nothing directly being endorsed/linked for a casual viewer to then go find.
i have no problem with people making rec lists that im on along with others, of course, but having it specifically on my fics/my page feels weird (the context of rec lists is also very different from the context of a comment section). i was wondering how other authors felt about it, though i dont know how common this scenario is. i almost always delete these comments just because they make me uncomfortable and thats reason enough to curate your online experience, but i was curious

under these circumstances
[PART 2]
Here’s a link to PART 1 if you haven’t read it!
Pairing: Astarion x Tav (female Tav) // also minor Karlach x Dammon
Word count: ~2900
Notes: Sorry this one’s a bit longer. Couldn’t find a good spot to end it so I just left it as is. Man, I am soft for how Astarion approves of you helping children in Act 3. So soft. And in this house we stan Dammon!
Enjoy!
Astarion got roped in by the tieflings to come and see their former leader. And by roped in, Karlach literally dragged him up from the Underdark. Against his will. It’s not that he doesnt want to see Tav. Of course he wants to see her. He wishes she never left his sight. Astarion just has absolutely no desire to see the woman he’s madly in love with living a lavish life with someone else . Sure, he understands it’s his own fault. The vampire made no shortage of mistakes along the way; holding her at dagger point upon introduction, plotting to seduce and manipulate her, telling her he hoped she died screaming because she stopped him from completing the ascension ritual, the list goes on. His biggest mistake, however, was not confessing when he still had a chance. That or screwing up his manipulation plan so spectacularly he ended up developing feelings in the first place.
On second thought, both mistakes are equally stupid on his part.
Tav irrevocably changed Astarion’s life and his worldview. She made him a better person, a better man, an upstanding citizen of society who’s willing to help others without a second thought (sometimes). If not for her, he might’ve ended up dead, still under the control of his now dead master, or, worse yet, he could’ve turned into Cazador. For as long as he’ll live, no one will ever mean more to him than that kind hearted woman. Which is why it hurts to see her here and now. She’s married with a child, albeit an adopted child and the marriage was for purely political reasons.
To add salt to his wound, there’s also the matter of said child, Callum himself. Astarion is not immune to the boy’s charm. He’s actually quite fond of him. Hells, he would kill for Callum. By some cosmic fluke, the boy seems to share the sentiment (just to be clear, the fondness, not the killing). He can’t help wondering if Callum gets this excited seeing Tav’s husband. It would be rather uncouth to ask, right?
Astarion smirks, perfectly masking all of the rampant thoughts clouding his mind. “I was wondering when you’d notice me,” he says. “I was starting to feel neglected.”
Callum charges at Astarion like a horse wearing blinders, who then scoops him up with practiced ease. The vampire gets a small poke from the sword for his troubles. “Ah, do mind the blade of your weapon, Mr. Monster Slayer,” he tuts. “This monster is on your side and won’t require any slaying, thank you very much.”
The little boy gasps. “You’re not a monster, Asty! You’re so nice!” He throws his little arms and hides in the man’s neck, ironically on the side with the bite marks. “I love you!”
Astarion isn’t too proud to admit he’s grown to have a soft spot for children (and cats), but Callum has him wrapped around his little finger. That doesn't make the unprompted proclamation any less nerve racking. Gods below, he is so much like his mother, ready to befriend almost anyone. If they were alone, he would’ve waxed poetic about his odd friendship with Callum, but today there is an audience, a very particular audience. “Thank you. I … I love you too, Callum,” he says back, refusing to make contact with anyone but the boy. For fuck’s sake, he has a reputation.
Karlach takes this prime opportunity to tease the vampire. “Awe, is that a faint blush coloring big bad Astarion’s cheeks?”
“No,” he’s quick to say. Too quick. Even if he really was blushing, he knows the callout would’ve caused more blood to rush his face and ears. But he is not blushing. Curse Karlach for bringing him here. “For your information, I haven’t fed in a while so that’s not possible.”
Tav, amazing and kind and sometimes alarmingly generous Tav, frowns. The crinkle in her brow oozes concern and it makes his undead heart ache. “Oh no, are you okay, Astarion? Later I could let you …” She lets her words trail off, but the implication is obvious. No one’s hidden the fact that he’s a vampire from Callum. They do tend to spare the gorier details for good measure.
He shakes his head. “Thank you, dear, but I simply couldn’t.” She’s only offering because her husband isn’t around. He’s also aware of Astarion’s condition and gets this pinched look on his face whenever Tav invites through the front door. Or perhaps he’s aware Astarion is in love with his wife. Who’s to say?
“Yes, you can, Astarion, because I’m offering.”
“I’m afraid I’ll have to decline.”
“But I insist.” He wants to accept, not only to be close to her again, but he’s genuinely thirsty. Most of the blood that crosses his path these days goes to the many ravenous spawn who followed him and siblings after the fall of Cazador.
Karlach snorts. “It’s either her or me, Fangs.”
Astarion blanches at the tiefling. “Er, no. I’ll have to pass, Karlach. Despite fixing your overheating problem ages ago, your blood is still much too spicy for my taste.” It’s the equivalent of biting directly into an Altheian chili pepper. Walking directly into the sun would burn less than stomaching her blood.
Tav shrugs. She puts on an airs of nonchalance since she thinks she’s won this argument. “That only leaves you one choice then, doesn’t it?”
He has a comeback though. “Ah ah, incorrect, my sweet. I also have the choice of not eating at all.”
Callum jerks back suddenly, a devastated expression on his face. “You have to eat, Asty. You have to. Food is good for you.”
Tav has crossed the room so she’s standing on his opposite side. Fantastic. Now he has both mother and son staring him down. “Exactly, Callum’s right. You need to feed.”
And, of course, Karlach, the loud mouth, has to throw her two gold pieces in. “Yeah, Fangs. We can’t have you starve to death.”
His eyes nearly roll to the back of his head. “That literally can’t happen—” Which all the adults in the room are fully aware of. Fuck you, Cazador. Burn in whatever level of the Hells he got shoved into. “—but alright, fine. Later.”
Relieved, Tav smiles and places a hand on his free shoulder. “Thank you.”
Astarion scoffs. “You’re thanking me? You’re the one offering bl—” A quick glance to the child makes him remember to rethink his words. “Food . You’re offering me food when you absolutely don’t have to. Thank you, Tav, you stubborn, selfless woman.”
Her hand slides from his shoulder to his back, finding the space between his shoulder blades. She rubs soothing circles there. “Of course. You’re one of my best friends. I worry about you.”
The contact sends goosebumps all over his body. Hold it together, Ancunin. “The concern is appreciated, darling, but I can handle myself.”
“I know, Astarion,” she says. “But still. That’s what friends do. We look after one another.”
He both loves and hates the title. It causes his stomach to do a somersault and also drop like a heavy stone.
“You’re my best friend, Asty!”
A better distraction couldn’t have come along. “Am I now? Well, I feel honored.” He tosses a cheeky grin at his competition. “Hear that? I’m his best friend.”
Karlach’s jaw drops. The next few minutes are about to get interesting. “I thought I was your best friend, Callum.”
The little boy taps his chin in deep thought and points between them respectively. “Um, Asty’s my best friend. And Karlach’s my best friend. And Dammon’s my best friend.”
The blacksmith shrugs. “That’s fair. Though I’m just happy to be included.”
Astarion swivels so Callum’s back is to the rest of them. “Yes, of course, we’re all your best friends. How sweet and diplomatic. But I’m your favorite, right?”
Karlach rushes over, and is it suddenly a little warmer than it was a second ago? “I’m his favorite.” She tries to place herself in Callum’s line of sight, but Astarion swivels away again. And again. And again.
At this point he’s spinning in a circle. “Excuse me, you saw how utterly delighted he was when he saw me.”
Never one to back down from a challenge, Karlach starts walking in a circle too, following Astarion and Callum’s rotation. It’s officially a game of keep away with Tav’s son. “What? He didn’t even notice you at first, you said so yourself.”
He waves her off. “It’s hard to miss the large, exuberant, bright red tiefling smack dab in the middle of the kitchen.”
She sticks her tongue out. “Whatever makes you feel better, Fangs.”
Who cares if she could throw him and Callum over her shoulder like it’s nothing; he’s going to throttle her. “If you don’t believe me, ask him.” Astarion abruptly stops, grabs the boy under the arms, and holds him out. “Callum, dear sweet and so very brave, Callum. Tell that wretched Karlach I’m your favorite best friend. Also, you’re very adorable. And a great swordsman.”
Karlach elbows the man none too gently. “No, Callum. Tell yucky, stinky Asty I am your favorite.”
Meanwhile, Tav and Dammon stand back, amused and entertained. “How is my four year old more mature than these two full grown adults?”
“Baffles me as well,” he says. “Still love them though, right?”
Tav has to look away, hoping he doesn’t notice the blood rushing to her face. “Mhmm. Still love them.”
“Callum.”
“Callum.”
“Callum!”
“Tell him, Callum!”
“Stop,” Callum shouts, shocking both of them. He points his sword to the side. “I love you both. But … Mama’s my favorite.”
Dammon barks out a laugh at the plot twist. Tav glides in and takes her son into her arms, even does a little twirl. “Awe. You’re my favorite too, Callum.” She pulls him in for a big kiss on his chubby little cheek. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Mama.” Tav peppers a dozen more kisses all over his face, resulting in a fit of giggles and squeals.
Astarion averts his eyes, trying so hard to ignore the roil of yearning churning in his gut. Is he really jealous of a toddler? Pathetic. Someone clears their throat, making him look back up. Karlach is staring at him, hard, and she flicks her eyebrows. What’s this about? He narrows his eyes trying to discern her intentions, to which she smiles knowingly then looks back at Tav. She makes eye contact again then silently mouths tell her now.
As if it’s as easy as that! As if Astarion could just walk up to Tav and just tell her he loves her with every fiber of his being. He’s fucked up way too many times for that to ever happen. He’s fucked up too many times for her to ever return his love. And even if by some miracle she did love him back, she’s in a publicly favored marriage. (To be honest, he’d be perfectly content as the mistress, but he would never put her in that position.)
Karlach’s support, however well-intentioned, is ultimately pointless. The pale elf and the sunny druid are not meant to be, much to his chagrin. Because he apparently can’t help it, his gaze drifts towards Tav again. Mother and son glow with love, affection, and warmth, something he was forced to leave behind when they’d finally rid themselves of the parasites. It’s too much for his heart to take. Without a word, Astarion turns on his heel and heads for the front door. Best to commiserate in solitude, maybe back in his fortress in the Underdark, but …
“Asty? Where are you going?”
Shit. So much for being a stealthy rogue. Now to have a go at persuasion. “Just stepping out for a moment, little bird.”
Callum pouts in the most irritatingly precious way. “You’re leaving?”
Great, now he feels bad. He really is wrapped around the boy’s finger. “No. I was in need of some fresh air, is all. I’ll be right back.”
The boy wiggles until Tav places him down. Then he runs over and grabs Astarion’s hand. “I’ll go with you. I’ll protect you from the scary monsters.” He punctuates the statement with a slash of his new sword.
Tav can sense something is wrong, though she has no idea exactly what it is. “Um, Callum, perhaps you should wait here with me.”
Right on cue, the dramatic, overconfident facade slips back into place. “But what if there’s a monster, dear? You would leave poor little me defenseless? Now who’s the monster?”
As always, she sees right through it. “Are you sure?”
He keeps at it. “Absolutely, darling. He’ll have me back within the hour.”
“Okay.” Tav has that wrinkle in her brow again and she crosses her arms. He is in for an interrogation later. “Be safe. Both of you.”
“Bye, Mama!”
She waves back. “Bye.”
Astarion catches her eye and gives a playful wink before speaking to Callum. “Let’s go, Mr. Monster Slayer. I think I saw a vendor in need of saving on our way in. He might give you some sweet treats as a reward.”
“Yay!”
The pair leaves as Astarion goes into some tall tale of his adventures since he’d visited last. Tav is left trying to calm her rapidly beating heart. They’re friends. Tav and Astarion are friends, nothing more. He made it abundantly clear in the past that he has no romantic interest in her. And she insisted they be friends. Not to mention she’s married now. To a widely known public figure. It can never happen. Never ever. As much as she wished it could.
And yet the druid can’t rid herself of the image of Callum’s face when he laid eyes on Astarion. He doesn’t even get that excited when Terrick, the man raising him, returns from his business trips. Not that she can blame her son. She definitely prefers the company of the vampire over her husband. She prefers any of her friends’ company over her pretentious husband.
Not that she’s ever voice that out loud.
She roughly has half an hour to get herself under control. When they return, she’ll send Dammon, Karlach, and Callum outside for the ‘sparring session.’ Inside, she’ll allow Astarion to feed then question him about whatever seems to be a bother. She won’t be able to focus properly if she’s too busy staring lovingly into his beautiful ruby red eyes or imagining herself dragging her fingers through his soft hair or—no, stop it. Stop it.
It’s been years. Get over it. Focus.
Tav suddenly claps her hands together, starling her remaining guests. “Okay. While you get settled in a guest room, I’ll put together some snacks. Dinner won’t be ready for another hour or so.”
Karlach opens her mouth to say something, but Dammon grabs her by the hand and starts pulling her out of the room. “Sounds perfect, Tav. Thank you for letting us stay the night.”
She’s too preoccupied with forcing herself to compartmentalize her feelings to realize she missed something. “You’re welcome.”
In their room, Dammon shuts the door and looks at his partner disapprovingly. He’s got his arms crossed and one foot tapping a steady rhythm on the rug. Karlach hates it. “What?” she whisper-yells.
“You know what.”
She begins to pace because she is not a fan of standing still. “They’re my best friends, Dammon! And they’re totally oblivious to each other's feelings.”
“I know, but it’s not your place.”
She smirks, hoping to lighten the mood. “Isn’t it?”
He pinches the ridge of his nose and sighs. “No, love, it’s not.”
She pouts. “Why not?”
He rolls his eyes. “Because they’re both adults. If they wanted to express how they felt for one another, they could do it themselves.”
Karlach throws her arms out, but keeps her voice at a whisper. “But they won’t express how they feel because they both think the other thinks of them as just a friend because of all the shit that happened when we had worms in our heads.” Miscommunication, manipulation, and misinformation. It was truly a mess back then. Still is, apparently.
Dammon sits down on the bed and leans forward with his elbows on his knees. “That may be true, but it’s still not your place to speak on behalf of either of them.” He cocks an eyebrow. “Need I remind you that Tav is currently married.”
It’s her turn to roll her eyes. “She doesn’t love that soggy sponge, Terrick. She only did it so she could help the city. Bloody hells, she held her wedding outside, at night just so Astarion could attend.”
She makes a fair point. “I know, I know.”
The big red tiefling sits down next to him. “I want them to be happy, Dammon. They’re not happy.”
“Under these circumstances, they can’t be together.” Karlach lets out a frustrated growl. “Things can change though. Circumstances can change. There’s hope that one day those two will finally wake up and see what’s right in front of them with no obstacles in the way.”
“You really believe that?”
He straightens up and reaches for her hand again, this time meshing their fingers together. “That’s what I want to believe, love.”
She huffs. “Me too.”
He gives her hand a squeeze. “Promise to leave them be during our stay?”
And there’s that pout again. “Ugh, yes. Promise,” she grumbles.
“Thank you.” Dammon tilts towards her and places a light kiss on her cheek. Their tails intertwine behind them. “Now come on. She may not be happy, but I think having friends around makes things better.”
“I think so too.” They both stand up and head for the kitchen again. Just before opening the door, Karlach blocks it and grins wickedly at her partner. “But I know what would make her even happier .”
“Karlach.”
She relents. “Gods, kidding. Just kidding, Dammon.” Mostly.
Thank you so much for reading!

Tumblr media
Anyone who talks to me knows that when I start talking about writing, they have about point five seconds before I start shilling for obsidian.md. I made a post about why I use and love it here, and in it I mentioned plugins, which a few people were interested in.
There are so many plugins, an absolute plethora (I have about 40 or so on my main vault at the moment), but today I’m just going to cover my top 10 plugins for writers using obsidian!
presented in no particular order, and below a cut because it's pretty long.
(note: I’ve included links to the github repositories for all the plugins, but to find and install them in Obsidian, just search their names in ‘community plugins’ in the app!)
Templates
First up is a simple core plugin, that if you aren’t using it already…why??? I have so many questions about how you function ANYWAY
If you’re doing any kind of repetitive Writing Task, make a template. Character profile? Template. Worldbuilding note? Template. Scene? Template. Chapter? Template literally i have templates for everything. Set yourself a hotkey (I use ctrl+t), and let your dreams run wild with not having to write out the same information over and over and over again.
This is also vvv useful if you want to get into using metadata, because you can guarantee you don’t forget to add a field. (I might make a post with some of my templates later, if people are interested in some examples?)
Setting them up is very straightforward: enable ‘Templates’ under Core Plugins in Settings, set a folder in your vault to be a designated templates folder, and that’s it! Keep any templates you make in that folder, and go wild. As mentioned I use them for page structures, but also for things I don’t want to remember. Like tricky dataview queries, or infobox/callout structures. You can be so lazy if you make templates for everything, you’ll wish you had them in every app, I stg.
(You can use various other plugins in conjunction with templates to make them even more useful, such as QuickAdd and Commander, which I might talk about in another post if folks are interested.)
Workspaces & Workspaces+
Workspaces+ on github
Okay, so technically this is two plugins but Workspaces is a core features, and Workspaces+ adds extra functionality. At this point I’ve been using W+ for so long I genuinely do not remember which features are core and which it added. If there is one plugin I refuse to live without, it’s this one.
Workspaces are layouts you can save within obsidian: setups of tabs, sidebars, notes, etc. This is a fantastic bit of functionality that lets you make obsidian into an absolute powerhouse of seperate contexts. I set them up for different projects within my main vault (I have a workspace for my Obedience fics, one for my art projects, one for research, and many more), and for different needs in my worldbuilding vault (worldbuilding, outlining, writing, research etc).
Workspaces+ makes managing and creating your workspaces a lot smoother, and gives you the option to auto-save changes when you switch, which I like because my workspaces are very much active, living things that I don’t want to remember to re-save every time I change between them.
Tumblr media
A NOTE!! - keep backups. keep backups, because sometimes - it’s happened to me twice - if you are syncing vaults between devices, the workspaces file can get wiped, and you do not want to have to rebuild them all from scratch. this is good advice generally, but KEEP BACKUPS! DO IT!
Longform
Longform on github
this is theeee writing plugin for obsidian. everyone recommends it, and that’s because it’s good! especially if you’re coming from Scrivener, as it adds a little of that flavour back into Obsidian.
with it, you can drag-and-drop re-arrange your scenes and chapters in the sidebar, which native Obsidian doesn’t let you do. my favourite feature is the project wordcount, because I like seeing The Numbers Go Up, and it will also show you per-scene wordcount, and you can set targets! (i don’t use the targets feature much, though, i track my words with Pacemaker)
Tumblr media
it also has an export function that i have not played much with, but it worked very nicely to give me a basic file for the first draft of one of my long-fics, so that was pretty useful!
Kanban
Kanban on github
do you like outlining? do you like to-do lists? do you like drag-and-drop? me too, i have nothing else going on. i’ve been using kanban for book to-do’s for a while, and i’ve recently fallen in love with it for outlining chapters: yes, I can re-arrange things with longform, but with Kanban i can mark my scenes with various notes, and give myself a good visual overview of plot balance, and drag things around to arrange my book!
using it, i do recommend playing with some css snippets to add some lane wrapping, to get multiple lanes stacking. unless you like side-scrolling, i guess. (this is the one I use, which I got off the discord ages ago and I cannot remember who posted it, I'm so sorry TT_TT)
Tumblr media
my top rec for using kanban in planning is to have lanes for ‘backlog’ ‘up next’ ‘active’ and ‘done’. this way you can list out all the million things you need to do, without getting overwhelmed about doing all of them at once.
completr / Various Complements
compltr on github / Various Complements on github
i have a lot of words to type and sometimes, i don’t want to type all of them! that’s where autocomplete comes in. I vacillate between the two, because VC has a tendency to lag my poor tiny laptop, but otherwise it’s great!
VC is the one if you’re doing worldbuilding, because the linking you can do is a lot faster, and it helps you remember all those ridiculous fantasy names you don’t want to type over and over and over. both have good settings for autocompleting/suggesting in metadata though, which is fantastic because then you don’t do what I used to do, which is forget how i structured my data and have four different versions of the same field.
however. neither are as good as the autocomplete from Libreoffice, which i miss dearly and is the only thing that is constantly tempting me to go back to drafting there.
Outliner
Outliner on github
This is a small and simple plugin, that adds some extra features to lists. I find it very handy because a lot of my outlining is done in bullet-points, and being able to quickly move items up and down a list with a simple button press is very handy for me.
Dataview
Dataview on github / Dataview documentation
okay so. strictly you don’t need this for writing. HOWEVER. if you like data, and organising, and tracking things for your writing, dataview is The One. It’s the one for auto-generating lists and tables, and you can, I’ve heard, do some buckwild things with it.
I am a simple man, and I use it in my writing for a handful of simple things: auto-listing characters and places in worldbuilding; making tables listing characters & plotlines & scene wordcounts; keeping track of my wips.
I’m not going to try and explain how it works here, there is an entire set of in-depth documentation for that. (also Danny Hatcher has a short and simple intro to the plugin here.)
Basically, anything you can add in metadata, you can pull into a dataview query. Status, character, plot — it’s the customisation thing again. There is no default, you get to pick what’s important to you, and then display it!
Here are some examples of my queries & their results, to give you an idea of what’s possible:
Tumblr media
Left side: a query pulling the current fanfics I'm working on. Right side: what that table looks like in Reading Mode
Tumblr media
Left side: queries pulling characters from the Renegade Prince series by race. Right side: What those tables look like in Reading Mode (each one displays the same, only filtered by the 'race' field I have in the characters metadata)
copy document as html
copy document as html on github
Another small, simple plugin that has been the saviour of my obsidian-to-AO3 export process for months. All it does is allow you to copy a note as HTML. That’s it. Which you can then paste into AO3’s HTML editor, clean up slightly, and be good to go.
For extra bonus points, you can set it up with a hotkey (or a commander plugin button, which. commander is a plugin tale for another list but OH BOY IT’S GREAT) and just one-click go. Fantastic.
I like it because much as I love obsidian, exporting things into other non-markdown programs can kinda be a pain. That is one of its weak points IMO. There are also plugins for exporting things in other formats, but that’s beyond the scope of this post.
Colourful Tag
Colourful Tag on github
This one I love because a) pretty and b) colour-coded plot tags my beloved. It gives you a simple, straightforward way to make your tags coloured (and to add emoji prefixes!). I use it in conjunction with kanban for outlining, as it gives me a really great way to visually track plotlines & character arcs.
You can see an example of this in the screenshot I posted for my kanban outline.
Smart Typography
Smart Typography on github
And finally, another sweet and simple plugin, that converts quotes to curly quotes, dashes to em-dashes, and periods to ellipses (it does a few other things as well, but those are the main ones). I like it, because I need those things for writing! Nothing complicated, just a neat little quality of life improvement that’s great for writers.
---
And that's my top ten plugins! as always, shoot me any questions you have about these or anything else I do with obsidian, I'm always happy to answer. I'm aware there's so much you can do with the app, it can be overwhelming if you're just starting out.
As I said, I do use a BUNCH of other plugins for things that are not specifically focused on my writing, so I can always talk about QOL and other types of plugins that I use another time, if folks are interested?
Thank you so much for reading all of this if you made it all the way to the bottom. I genuinely adore obsidian and everything you can do with it, so it's really fun to write these posts!

i actually didn't have anyone *particular* in mind when i spoke about the weirdness of some people being left alone while there's tons of evidence and that there's people who got/get cancelled for the smallest stuff- just the "scenario" in itself. there's just some people wanting to cause drama and they dig stuff up that isn't even necessarily "bad", just questionable maybe. i mean i was an edgy ass "creepypasta teen" so i know first hand what's its like saying stupid sh*t and paying the price for it and learning from it- but bringing that up NOW wouldn't even achieve anything since a) i never said anything hateful, b) i was a child, c) i learned from it and grew as a person and c) what relevance does it have now? i doesn't affect anyone and i know better now than to do it again. but some people would still insist it's important- those types of people/scenarios are what i was talking about- if that makes sense!
Makes complete sense! In fact, it's these sort of callouts that aided in making actual worrisome and bad things found on Viv virtually unknown. I see people bring up the snake bath art Viv made more than her literally bullying and calling a 15 year old nasty for being critical of her work, or her being happy that Dollcreep attempted to take his life, or her openly being happy that her fanbase was harassing someone over a meme, or her uplifting, liking, and following problematic people who make the fandom worse.
But damn, that snake bath art bro, that's where I draw then line/j
Look I get it, that snake bath art is very weird, especially with the fact that Addi would be drawn in more than one sexual scenario with snakes or not, but to make this one of the main things to call Viv out for is wiiild. There's also the pedo character situation. I get it....she's a pedo, and the tag Viv made underneath that photo was weird af, but I have seen people say that her making a character a pedo PERIOD makes HER a pedo which...no. if she would place Mirage in a good light and make it where it's good, that's when I'll agree since placing pedophilia as some good thing and not something gross is batshit, but if they're meant to be a villain and seen as horrible that doesn't automatically make you a pedophile. It just means you made an irredeemable villain. However, her way of treating Mirage was pretty similar to how she treated Valentino sometimes, just more with her personality rather than her horrendous disgusting behavior and gross attraction.
In any case, claims like these are WHY people are even MORE apprehensive against callouts for Viv and muddied the waters, ultimately setting back MANY victims under Viv's name. It's why I HATE these sorts of posts on her. It does more harm than good and makes any victims trying to say their peace look like clout chasers, liars, and have people see them as jealous. Though, of course, people shouldn't shut out valid evidence and criticism all cause some flimsy callout came out, but this is like "the boy who cried wolf." Scream too many times, only for it to be nothing will make it harder for people to take you seriously when something serious actually happened.

It's not a matter of Taylor losing her fame. She was sent numerous death threats. The whole world was celebrating her disappearance. It wasn't her fame they wanted dead - they wanted HER dead. She was suicidal at the time. And it's incredibly fucked up that you're just okay with that.
I'm not going to entertain this intentionally obtuse interpretation. nowhere did I say that I am "okay" with that. In fact I clarified specifically that I don't endorse behaviour that threatens the safety, wellness, and mental health of individuals, in both my post and reply to Amy.
I would encourage you to reread the post, which was written specifically about the consumer feminism aspect of it all and whether what celebrities go through at that level can be equated to structural issues. to maybe reconsider the ways in which swift herself has framed the incident(s) and what she desires - how she "got into this work because [she] wanted people to like [her], because [she was] intrinsically insecure, because [she] liked the sound of people clapping, because it made [her] forget how much [she] feels like [she's] not good enough". how what hurt her in particular is the fact that (paraphrased) when people fall out of love with her there's nothing she can do to change their minds. how she identified the striking moment for her at the 2009 VMAs was not the award being taken from her hands by k@nye but the thought that she was being boo'd by the crowd. how she has spoken herself at length (see: woman of year speech/miss americana) about how she led her career in response to public opinion and what they'd approve of, in a way that her views wouldn't confront listeners, she'd get "a pat on the head" for. how she identified that even when she DID change and want to use her voice it was a "want to be seen as a good person" (not BE, but SEEN). how she most recently phrased snakegate as a "career death" and doubled down on it (“Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me.”).
"it's not a matter of losing fame", not solely, but to deny the attachment and addiction to public approval as such a big if not the sole factor in her resentment of these incidents, is deeply delusional and blatantly ignorant of reality. she said it herself.
regarding the second half of the ask, again, I am empathetic to the pain and loneliness that comes from at a low state of mental health. I don't think anyone deserves that kind of vile behaviour towards them.
I think it's also valuable to consider the ways in which that minority of extreme behaviour has been weighed the same to her as all other callouts. e.g. those born from the unchallenged use of her image by alt-right groups (twice now) - 'her perceived overexposure to conspiracy theories about her politics. "I had all the hyenas come out and take their shots"'. Is that a good faith interpretation of criticism? Is putting out multiple puff pieces about how unphased you are to the outside voices criticising your relationship with a man who does the n@zi salute on stage, how it's the same old attempts at cancellation she's grown to ignore, how he's actually a good person, an indication of a person's perhaps black and white views on any backlash to their name? is someone who has (at best indirectly) perpetuated similarly vile sentiment her whole career via her fanbase, benefited from it, and openly stated she doesn't care or think about how the people she's writing about (and including overt and literal clues about) feel, in the position to call out bullying against her done in someone else's name?
Seemingly, any criticism of her is weighed the same (as hate) , and any criticism done in her name is not her responsibility. So, as a consumer is it not in our interest to think about how all famous people we give our money and attention to play into this contradiction - they are able to operate as an individual when criticism is made against them (we need to all band together and protect them!!) and as a brand when they are a part of the cause (it's not their responsibility and doing that could create a precedent etc etc)? what role we play in it and how often real structural issues are leveraged for our sympathy (and never again mentioned)?
Maybe the point of the post was that ultimately we as an audience should reflect on how forgiving and considerate are about the inaccessible struggle of someone who openly does not care about anyone else's. That we can be empathetic on a personal level but think about how much of ourselves we invest in that. how advocacy through consumption and idolatry leads us nowhere.
Or you can go along believing that post was pointedly about how she deserved poor mental health or that it should be dismissed entirely, if that is easier for you to grapple with. But I'm sure neither of us truly believe that.

Hi.
I can't reveal who i am but i used to be a ex moot of tee (@/saetoru) and i don’t care if this seems cowardly to make a page just to call her out. after seeing lots of people share their experiences with tee i’d like to also add and show some of the stuff she’s done to remind people she’s not as angelic as she makes herself out to be.
me and tee weren’t close as she was with her little clique (they know who they are) and other people but the main reason we aren’t moots anymore is because i broke the mutual. after seeing a callout post about her way back in oct. 2023 with other people’s stories in the thread of reblogs / link (i’m sure you guys saw)
i simply didn’t wanna be associated with someone like that. i was just confused why tee was acting like it wasn’t her fault. she said she doesn’t have to provide proof because she doesn’t owe anyone anything when that doesn’t make sense. because if you’re gonna accuse someone, always provide proof otherwise it’s safe to assume you’re lying.
this was Tee’s response back in october to her being called out by one of her old moots also, she deleted this a few days before she returned to make it seem like nothing happened but oh it did. i’m putting this here for people to see again (if you already haven’t) because just look at this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is what a narcissistic manipulator sounds like!
the biggest thing that made me scratch my head was for her to immediately bring up past drama to redirect the situation and make herself seem like the good person, and address the other party as a “white girl who blackfishes,” and she tried taking the attention off her to bring up palestine.
are you serious? if she so called “blackfished” why were you supporting/defending her in the first place? shouldn’t you be in the wrong too? the party she was talking about didn’t even blackfish, from what i can recall it was a simple tan so again, this was Tee reaching and blowing things way out of proportion.
she keeps mentioning some random bnha blog but never gives the @ so she’s probably lying. how are you gonna accuse someone of plagiarism then your only evidence is “oh me and my moots saw the whole thing, so you know i’m not lying.” girl bffr. and for her to even say something as childish and stupid as “she’s stolen ppl’s skin tones and she’s stolen their ideas. not much to left to take besides your identity at that!”
you and i both read that right? this is a supposed 20+ year old, saying something as kiddish as that. she even exposed the persons @ in the tags and why did she do that? so she can make her thousands of followers / anons spam their inbox with threats, derogatory names, and literally anything else. and she has the nerve to say she’s not enabling that kind of behavior with her audience. she’s abusing her following and it’s showing.
and for her to sit there and say it’s not her fault for being in her own space and name dropping people without actually name dropping them is just absurd. subposting is the lowest of the low. If you’re gonna talk shit at least put the url while you’re at it. people can tell who you’re talking about even if you’re being discrete.
She has a private blog called @/clorindes where she uses it to "vent" and bash writers and laugh it off with her moots and even followers.
i know of this particular blog because like many others, if you followed tee that blog (her private) would appear in ‘blogs like…’ or ‘recommended to follow.’ after tee got called out, she privated it but it’s still up.
(i recommend blocking that blog) because i’m sure she’ll activate it again once things settle. i hope that’s not the case because how many drama, discourse posts, call outs does it take for her to fully leave this platform? this is chronically online mentality at its finest.
it’s been an ongoing rumor that tee has this tumblr 'burn book' to blacklist writers on this platform and it’s proven to be true. some of tees even own mutuals are in there, and its just embarrassing. you have to constantly remind yourself this is a 20+ y/o person acting like this, out of all platforms, tumblr…
i remember a while back tee drove off a few blogs just for having the same theme concepts as her. (is that even a thing?) like tee used to have instagram themes i think, yet when she found other blogs having the same, she’d send her thousands of anons to harass that person, and be so butthurt over a theme.
not gonna lie, her themes are generically basic and doesn’t even look like it takes much effort. so what is there to copy. i’m not saying copying themes are good and okay, but she takes things too far. i can see if it’s writing, but a theme or a layout? i just find it so mind boggling people stick by her side and support her still.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from her old blog she’d always say sneaky comments like these and laugh it up with her mutuals in the comments. it’s really…something, because why do you care what those writers do? she reeks of jealousy and envy, literally look at her tone.
“we all know yall just want the notes and numbers.” um, yeah? everyone wants recognition on their work, it feels good to know your works being appreciated. and her jab at shading writers who write half paragraphs was so unnecessary. because again, why do you care? how are those writers hyping each other up seen as ‘shady’ or ‘fishy’ behavior? just say you’re jealous and go.
she acts like she doesn’t do the exact same thing with her cult of friends on tumblr, spamming the tags with wtv.
miss tee, flat out you’re a nobody.
you have no right to judge how someone write. who cares if you have 30k+ followers on this old ass site. congrats ….i guess? in the real world, you’re just a miserable person who likes torturing people online.
she has this thing of coming after upcoming big blogs, if i’m not mistaken, the most recent one was a known jjk writer, kazu _____ another was a popular multi account munson____, and there were multiple others i’m sure. her following count boosts her ego a lot, that i can see. and she thinks it’s okay to say whatever and not get held accountable. well now she is.
notice how she came back to tumblr after a two month hiatus, turned anons on then back off. and shes been inactive for a few days. she’s running away from the drama because she knows exactly it’s no one’s fault but hers.
if you look through the long thread i linked earlier, actually read through the reblogs. if multiple various ppl are coming out to share their experiences (with receipts) chances are you should be able to tell who’s lying! she needs to be stopped and ran off the app, not those blogs who didn’t do anything. tee’s been involved with drama for a long time like i said before, way back in her tokyo rev/hq era in her @/hanmas era. so about three to four years ago.
it’s been said tee and her mutuals send anons to harass other writers and i wouldn’t be surprised if that’s true.
again, it’s a shame you have to remind yourself this is a grown woman in her twenties acting like this on tumblr. it’s sickening and she needs to grow up, and get the hell off this platform before she drives anyone else off.
thats all! thank you for reading

I don't understand, why writing "revenge fantasies" is a form of projection that can be really harmful and that can't really be justified? These people are just externalizing they feelings without any real repercussions. I don't understand the "can't really be justified", they are literally doing nothing, so what they should justifie something? You think people just have to live with suppressed bad feelings and only externalize good feelings? So people just have sit down and suffer in silence until they hurt themselves or worse, take their own life?
This is the post the anon is talking about, if anyone's wondering.
It's better than actually committing the revenge or self-harming. Mind you, I don't think that the level of revenge fantasies or the way that that group tends to actively push for extreme vengeance as being not only something that is permissible, but is in fact the morally correct option above attempting de-escalation and understanding, is particularly helpful.
The bit about it not really being something that can be justified refers more to the way that the revenge fantasies in ML fandom salt have taken on a decidedly racist tone, with the way that Alya's targeted in particular, and just how baked in some really nasty stuff is into the Saltdom in general. It gets pretty offensive, and makes me think of the "Finn tries to sexually assault Rey so that Kylo Ren can beat him up" kind of racist fics I've heard about with the Star Wars fandom.
It's not like it's just a few people or like it's been a short-term thing, there's been this entire mindset and worldview that's sustained its own separate vengeance-based fandom these past few years and that has been re-enforced over and over again, which does make me fear that, say, the people deeply embroiled in the saltdom genuinely think that if you're in a position of power and you're pissed that like, your friend didn't help you to attack someone you hate to the degree that you'd like, that you are totally within your rights to abuse your power in order to set it up so they get sexually harassed, knowing that they can't do anything about it, purely for your own satisfaction.
In the beginning, I shrugged off the saltfics because I thought it was just a few people venting and that they'd get it out of their system, that they were just being written to explore a plotline, but that they didn't mean anything deeper. I've been in a lot of fandoms for a long time, and I've read all sorts of fics, even things with questionable content.
All these years later, with not only the fics, but the arguments I've seen pushing for punishment for people who simply doubted Marinette or fell for manipulation, I can't really say that it's just a bit of venting. I'm afraid that if I was one of the friends of someone who was advocating for Marinette to get to hurt anyone who got in her way, and I didn't agree to attack some random person they didn't like, that they'd turn around and try to make callout posts against me and try to dox me, while saying that I deserved it for not being a good enough friend to them, because that's the sort of argument I've seen pushed over and over again by the salter group.

I personally don't like gatekeeping terms entirely but I think it's very important for people to know how terms are defined depending on what situation/community you are in because it does cause a lot of harm when people continue to erase us and pretend we are not real or especially paint us as liars. Calling RAMCOA survivors liars is something that is used to brutalize us historically and in the present- we face it enough, it is dangerous to perpetuate that narrative in any sense because it's what people use to discredit our testimonies and experiences which lead to abusers getting away with what they have done. This is a wider issue than just syscourse- this is a systemic form of injustice which you are perpetuating on accident.
I'd like to mention one of the reasons in particular that many RAMCOA survivors are upset over that one syscourse confession was because it implied RAMCOA survivors were lying (a malicious and purposeful choice) and are liars and also implied RAMCOA survivors never used those terms period. Most of the people who did the whole "system hopping is a RAMCOA term so you stole it" from what we have seen have always been non-survivors trying to white knight for us... and quite often are also the same people who will "eat their own" in the DID/OSDD community for being RAMCOA survivors. (This is something we constantly experience and face)
I agree it could be seen as guilt tripping what that one user said- however we do not believe it is given we know very well where such an emotional outburst would have came from. We get attacked from all sides constantly- when most of us just want to be left alone. There's a reason nobody finds most of what we talk about- due to the nature of the field a lot of us will sometimes nuke our platforms and disappear- erasing any records we had online. And when that isn't the case most communities are insular and private on things like discord or group chats- this has been a necessity because of the vitriolic hate we receive. And because of that I tend to accept the fact from other survivors that terms have originated from within the community at some point. And it's possible they did before any documented time in addition to a similar term (using the same words to describe differing experiences) developing adjacently in other system spaces.
A lot of this is survivors being upset that we are once again being used as nothing but a token to make an argument. And in addition- people are perpetuating things that do result in systemic harm. A harm that is why many of us cannot get court cases because we are so painted as liars we are not able to even begin to seek legal action. There are literal groups that exist to harass our therapists and make us seem as unreliable as possible because we are a liability for abusers.
We just don't want to have people continue to paint us all as liars and vicious and vile. We just want people to stop only talking about us when they want to make a point about how x r y side is bad. We want people to actually treat us like actual people. Just because there's so few of us doesn't mean we deserve to be made into some bargaining chip.
I already got incredibly fed up and annoyed with non-survivors (specifically ones who are sysmeds) only ever bringing us up to make the claims of stolen terms to demonize endos and then turn around and demonize us as well. And now I feel proendos and the endo community are doing the exact same.
This is another old one that's been sitting in my drafts for a while.
Anyway, I don't agree that the confession implied RAMCOA survivors are liars. It referred to anti-endos as claiming certain terms were originally RAMCOA terms, but didn't actually callout RAMCOA survivors themselves for this misinformation.
For reference since it has been a while:
Tumblr media
(Note: I don't know if either are for sure "endo created" but they do appear to have initially rose in inclusive communities to be used by anyone, and with different meanings from the ones that have been falsely claimed to have originated in the RAMCOA community.)
To me, it seems more aimed at the "white knights" you mention who are using RAMCOA survivors as talking points.
And I certainly didn't mean to suggest RAMCOA survivors, at least in general, are liars in my own posts. I'm well-aware that the majority spreading these lies aren't survivors themselves.
Although... is it bad to say that there are RAMCOA survivors who are liars? Because there are going to be liars in any group?
I don't know. It seems more dehumanizing to act like somebody can't possibly be lying because they're a survivor. People are people. And sometimes people lie for one reason or another.
And to not call a known lie a lie, because a person spreading that lie is part of a group that's often falsely accused of lying, feels dangerous.
I should also add that not everyone who spreads a lie is lying themselves, which I feel is an important distinction.
At some point up the chain, somebody started a lie claiming that system hopping was originally a RAMCOA term. That's why I call this a lie. Because it didn't come from nowhere. Other people then started spreading that lie, mostly believing it.
The fact people believe a lie they spread doesn't make it less of a lie.
It's kind of like the 2020 "election fraud." It's likely that most of the Trump supporters spreading the lie honestly believe that the election was stolen and Donald Trump was the winner. But that chain was started by people with malicious intent who knew they were lying. And I firmly believe lies need to be called out as such.
There's also a concept in law called "negligent misrepresentation" that I think applies here, when you state a fact as true with no reason to believe it without knowing it to be untrue.
If nothing else, that's where I feel most people would fall. A malicious negligent misrepresentation meant to harm the pro-endo community
And remember, the people claiming the terms are stolen will often justify this by referencing that they may have been used in isolated communities, as you mention.
And in that case... the idea that it was stolen as the claim goes would still be nonsense because it was only used in the private servers, unless the theory is that a pro-endo system secretly infiltrated these exclusive RAMCOA group chats to steal their terminology and later redefined it.
Which... would be an incredibly serious accusation to level at the coiners with zero evidence this might be the case.
And that brings us back again to negligent misrepresentation.
Because no matter how you turn it, the earliest documented evidence of these terms is in the inclusive community for general use. Even in the event it turned out that super secret private servers used these terms first, the claims of the terms being "stolen" or "bastardized" would still be malicious negligent misrepresentation aimed at attacking the endogenic community because there's just no possible way the coiners could have known if these private isolated communities used them first.
And I will point out that some people out there have been informed of the facts. They've been shown the sources showing how long the endogenic community has used the term system hopping. And they continue to spread this harmful disinformation anyway.
And those people, yes, are lying.

i just wanted to let you know how much i love your meta on this campaign, especially on imogen!! (my beloved) i’ve been seeing some negative takes on her lately, same old stuff with people ‘calling out’ how invasive and rude it is for to continue to use her telepathy on npcs without their consent and other nitpicky things? (to me there’s a weird line to draw since it’s quite literally one of the main ‘features’ that imogen has and if laura didn’t utilize it it’d be a bit of a waste imo but anyways-) imogen in general is just such a cool character to get into and analyze and your takes on her are always 👌✨✨
i appreciate that! thanks :)
i will say though, that for that particular telepathy take, i don't really disagree that there's an... maybe not invasive, but like. non innocuous nature to it? I do think that the way Imogen deals with psychic communication and voices in her head and like. Her entire concept of mental privacy is probably pretty informed as a result of. The Events Of Her Life. That said- she seems very aware of the unease and fear it can strike up in people, and, she uses it very effectively for intimidation effect and gaining the upper hand in certain interactions. That awareness- and willingness to use it- I think shines a light on a really interesting and integral aspect of her characterization. Slightly terrifying (affectionate).
I think on a more general note though, about people doing "callouts" or etc and the phrasing of like. rude, or, lbr moral judgements of her character overall. i. okay. i'll say first that I think sometimes people just don't. vibe with, or like certain characters and thats fine. (and good! I think its a good sign when there are characters with traits not universally positive that still feel very human and understandable and sympathetic). I also agree that it can also be frustrating to feel like someone is doing an. uncharitable, or erroneous read of a character you like due to pre-existing distaste. I've made my life easier by thinking of it as the other side of the coin where folks favouring a particular character bleeds into their assessments and assumptions about things.
But if its really weighing on you, blocking is always an option, and doesn't hurt anyone! Curating your own fandom experience is good- i think its valuable to see posts and follow people who don't always agree with you, but you're not under a moral obligation to keep seeing the posts of people who just have different (fandom) opinions and are actually upsetting you.
But yes. I do love analyzing Imogen- I love approaching all characters from the lens of trying to understand why they do whatever they do, and Imogen tends to land in a sweet spot for me where my indulgent expectations for her behaviour tend to pan out surprisingly often, and what she does feels right for where she's at. Even if I don't agree with it, even if its not a "good" thing (by whatever subjective measure). Its very satisfying! She's a complex character for sure. Its very fun.

Ok its been a few hours, ive unfollowed a LOT of people and if i unfollowed you please dont take this as me thinking youre a shitty person, if i havent blocked you, youre fine.
I havent changed my mind on leaving simply because unfollowing so many spn Blogs felt like such a relief, which means i should have done it much sooner.
The reason why this fandom has been so inhospitable and why so many people are leaving is bc so many of you are amplifying and supporting blatant shitstirrers and you refuse to acknowledge it. A little drama and a little spice is fun, but some of you LIVE for callouts, takedowns, vagues, etc. Ive said this before, ive never seen this many suicide baits and hurtful commments thrown around by people who supposedly care about the mental health of others.
All your sanctimonious 'take care of yourselves uwuwu be kind to each other' bs literally means nothing when you expose hundreds of people to harmful and triggering callouts for the sake of what? Fandom safety? Justice? Transparency? Be honest, you know its fucking not, bc i know FOR A FACT you know how harmful these callout campaigns are when you or someone you like is being targeted.
"Uwuwu that wasnt our intention, we were just trying to keep people safe, oh noes why is this gaining so much attention waaah" who the fuck is buying this. If, at this point, you say you havent realised that public callouts do more harm than good (to the person being called out AND to completely innocent victims who are getting retraumatised), then youve either been here for less than a month or youre a liar.
STOP letting shitstirrers shape everyones fandom experience jesus christ
Ive had multiple instances where i was baffled by how disproportionately 'outraged' and vicious some of yall get for no fucking reason (the con fallout? That one time yall bullied someone for saying a perfectly innocent destiel fic helped them cope with the death of their dad? The performative hatred of actors, which is bordering on being a parasocial relationship in its own right? Jesus christ, the fucking blogs where you could submit mean shit about other spn bloggers????), and ive blocked and blacklisted many people bc of that, which is why i wasnt surprised at all when some of the same ppl jumped at a new opportunity to sling some mud. For the record i dont keep track of bloggers after ive blocked them, that would be creepy. But some ppl burn themselves into my memory for being especially abrasive and over the top. Which is why i wasnt surprised, i was just annoyed and exhausted bc you keep letting ppl trick you into carrying out their bullying campaign.
"Why are people leaving??" Bc yall are exhausting.
Again: if the punishment or the public shaming of the culprit is more important to you than the feelings or the safety of the victims, you shouldnt act like youre trying to help anyone or improve things for the victims. Youre doing it out of a warped sense of self righteousness and egotism.
Ive said what i wanted to say about this particular incident and how truly bizzare i thought the process of Events was, but this is a general problem and some of the most toxic people are sadly the loudest and very hard to escape when they continue to be given a platform to do this shit, so its really not a hard decision to leave. I dont want to experience the incoming prequel discourse anyways.

part 2:
I am extremely sorry for how I acted and the vile shit I said. it was reprehensible, and to say the least, I think I'll always be disgusted by how I acted.
but also, I'm not sure how to say this. the mogai community has a problem with people who Do A Bad Thing and believing absolutely anything and saying whatever they want about that person. and unfortunately, I absolutely didn't help that. this kind of rumor mongering wasn't ever my Intention with stuff like the NCB, but it's unfortunately taken me a long time to realize that intention and behind the scenes attempts to be fair don't matter if the outside interpretation at large is something else. I think this community always had the potential to do this stuff to X Bad Person Of The Week, but things like my NCB just exacerbated it.
specifically, I'm talking about the fact that someone I used to consider a friend, Tumblr user @neopronouns, posted a completely anonymous ask about me/the headmate in this system who i split from, Ez. this anonymous ask says that I told someone to kill themselves over the ncb.
Tumblr media
and dexter himself later admits that he has never been shown screenshots of proof.
Tumblr media
https://archive.ph/1wpeh
https://archive.ph/aUmkw
Dexter, I used to respect you very much. your blog has over 2000 followers, which is double the amount I ever had.
shape /up/.
this community is not a safe space to be in if people like us in the 900+ follower count space can literally just publish and therefore endorse anything someone completely anonymously tells them. (not to mention it is VERY easy to convincingly Photoshop screenshots!!!)
I can definitely understand being sad and scared when I acted the way I did, but there is also a complete lack of critical thinking being displayed here that lends to this entire community being unsafe. anyone can just say anything. this isn't the first time anons claiming I did X have been sent around, btw. remember those anons about me being antisemitic that never came back with evidence? remember when X other mogai blogger got accused of being Y and there was a whole callout post that got tons of notes - fill in that blank yourself, I'm sure someone came to mind.
I'm aware I'm not really in any position to be believed because I did shitty things and therefore that means I MUST have done every other bad rbinf, but basically: I would REALLY like to implore to you all, no matter how much you hate me in particular, to get PROOF before publishing things like this. about anyone. this could happen to you. this could be your blog tomorrow. I've dealt with suicidal thoughts for literally about… 5 years straight, with gaps of a few months in between but never completely losing the thoughts entirely. and I have survived multiple suicide attempts, and been hospitalized four times in the past two years for suicidal thoughts. I find telling someone to kill themselves absolutely abhorrent. I didn't do this. I would never tell someone to kill themselves. I don't think my little Google doc on a website is worth losing one's life over, it's ABSOLUTELY not that serious.
telling someone to kill themselves could very easily be the trigger that encourages a suicidal person to actually take action to end their own life. telling someone to kill themself is potentially actually killing them. I did not think "(name I don't use anymore and don't want to be called) tried to kill someone" was a real thing that would occur in the mogai community, but apparently it is! this community will genuinely hear this information and publish it to an audience of over 2000 people with no further thought. it seems that no Dexter has added this edit below, but in my opinion, it is a shallow excuse for this action. as I work on things in therapy [to prevent me from ever treating people the way I did again,] I'm finding myself literally kept up at night by the fact Dexter thought publishing this ask was EVER okay. there is no sign of looking for proof in the original published ask. there is nothing to indicate he did not believe it wasn't factual, and if you take a look at the replies on the post, someone raises a genuine concern about this, and he responds with essentially "well but kris did a bad."
Tumblr media
(don't worry, this is the last time I'm gonna be screenshotting anybody's anything. I've lost respect for Dexter or anyone who reblogged this post that to the extent I don't want to see any of these blogs and once got very anxious after seeing a reply from one on a random post a mutual reblogged. so, I'm popping on to queue this and then once again changing the password of these accounts to something else new and not saving it. im out of here, it's a shitshow.)
thank you, I'm sorry for what I actually did, & goodbye. take care of yourselves. if you or a loved one experience suicidal thoughts, contact local or online resources like chat lines or telephone numbers. and if you're presented with a screenshot, look into a concept called EXIF data. https://gadgetstouse.com/blog/2021/01/09/6-ways-to-tell-if-an-image-has-been-edited-or-photoshopped/#4_check_exif_and_geolocation_data

Forgive me, this is mostly just venting out my frustrations. It's not a callout post or anything, just annoying.
Tumblr media
By the way. A stunning argument. A smashing revelation. I may have to reconsider. /s
In all seriousness, this is the sort of person I was trying to reason with on Twitter. This person literally took a video I made and reposted from a couple of months ago and decided to use it to accuse me of supporting Abusive Espresso x Madeline.
'What is said video?', you may ask? Well. It's this one.
You may be wondering, 'Bill, where did this come from?' You may also be wondering 'Wait, but where is Espresso in the video?'
Well. To answer your questions.
The accusation seems to be intended to paint me as someone who supports rampant abuse ships. I'm guessing the kind of abuse ships where the audience seems to 'get off on the abuse' or 'romanticizes it', a la the fandom of Killing and Stalking. The implication is that they believe Cyril supports this when he said nothing of the sort.
Ironically, this particular reply chain started with me stating, in order:
A) You're allowed to not like a female character. That doesn't make you misogynistic.
Tumblr media
B) Drawing characters with features that their biology commonly gives them isn't racist if it isn't used for the purpose of dehumanizing or shaming them.
Tumblr media
C) Where the hell did you get 'Espresso' out of this? (The first image)
For context, the video itself takes place in my Crumbled Castles AU, which is an AU very much divergent from the canon timeline. Specifically, it revolves around a sideplot of the larger story, wherein Madeline is a byproduct of how he was raised and has to learn to disassociate himself from who he was in order to develop real connections with others. Said 'byproduct' is specifically about his constant need to compulsively lie and manipulate in an attempt to keep himself safe while he accomplishes his mission: Hence 'Manipulative Madeline'.
Not once is Espresso even mentioned, seen, or implied--and yet this person somehow saw 'Manipulative Madeline' and decided to associate it with 'Abusive Espresso x Madeline' rather than look into what the post was actually about.
And then when I told them that their assumption was wrong, what did they do?
They just blew it off.
These are the kinds of people that are on Twitter. These are the kinds of people that see the tiniest grain of information and try to twist it against you. These are the kinds of people that lack the ability to see nuance and context and deliberately go out of their way to prevent context from being provided. (Forgive this one. I forgot to censor some names and had to re-take the screenshot from the Tumblr post editor.)
Tumblr media
Wherein these are the two posts that they showed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this was their response when I pointed out that they didn't show the whole thread and deliberately cut it off?
Tumblr media
'That is the whole thing.' 'We have already provided the whole thing.' 'Oh also writing abuse is wrong and harmful and he's sick for doing so.'
Oh, but, but, but--what is this that I see? In that post accusing me of shipping 'Abusive Espresso x Madeline'?
Tumblr media
Excuse me??? So what is the problem, chief??? Do you not see the contradiction???
God, there is so much more than this that went on within the last... god, what, four, five hours? So forgive me if I'm a little bit miffed about this whole situation.
This isn't a callout post. This isn't a request for people to figure out who this person is. That is why I blocked out the names of everyone except myself.
Because unlike this nameless person, I don't have any intention of sending targeted harassment toward anyone. And I don't plan on dredging up pictures of them to post.
You know. Like they did with Cyril. When he was a minor. And what was their response when Cyril tried to call them out on it?
Tumblr media
'You posted that yourself on a public account'.
Not 'I'll take it down'. Not 'Sorry, I didn't realize you weren't comfortable with your face being used while insulting you'. Just 'You posted that image yourself on a public account'.
This is in response to them being made aware that this picture was of Cyril when he was a minor.
Tumblr media
By the way, this person wasn't responding to people at this time. They were silent for well over an hour before somebody was kind enough to send me a link to the tweet so I could tell them to take it down. But they were still online. And I know this because they took it down within five minutes of me tagging them in that post.
All of this to say: Before you believe any claims people make on Twitter--or on any social media website--please be aware that this kind of shit can happen. Information can be withheld. Information can be misconstrued. Context can be lost, contradictions can be ignored. Before you fall into the pit of believing discourse the moment you see it, ask yourself:
'Is this missing some sort of context? Does this persons' argument even make sense?'
Because they will try to make you believe that it makes sense. Oh, goodness, they will try. It's like talking to a brick wall. And they will have people blindly following in their wake to support their claims, but ultimately, it's up to you to sniff out bullshit when it happens.
If Cyril were accused of these things and indisputable evidence were given that would prove--without a shadow of a doubt--that he is any of these horrible things that this person and many others claim that he is, then I would not be so angry.
I have taken a look at the context that people have provided me. I have asked questions, I have seen screenshots and used my brain to think about the deeper meaning and find what was missing. If I genuinely felt that Cyril was guilty of these accusations, then I would have no problem backing down and letting whatever may happen happen.
But with all of the screenshots and evidence and context that I have been given, I don't believe it. If I were shown evidence that would prove to me that Cyril is guilty of anything he is accused of--or even that some of the stuff he is accused of is even wrong, in the case of shipping abusive ships because he enjoys the character dynamic and psychology--then I would admit I was wrong.
But with arguments like this? How can you expect to do anything but bully someone into believing you because it's easier?
I didn't believe people when I read that Twitter is a hellsite. I now know that I was wrong. This is the second time that something like this has happened within two or three months, and I am so tired and so frustrated by it all. It isn't fair to see creators suffer for things that they haven't done, and as fellow creators--as the audience for those creators--we have to be mindful of the libel we read.
That's sort of it, I guess. My inbox is open if you want me to elaborate on my opinions more. Thank you for reading, and sorry you had to suffer through this. I hope you have a better day than I've been having.

Name: TheWeepingMonk & MixMetawin
Fandoms: a lot who even knows anymore I'm a fandom hopper 😭😭 but AO3 wise, mostly teen wolf, a tale of thousand stars, fear the walking dead, Merlin and a whole lot more
Most popular one-shot: The Eeriness of Familiarity - a Phutian one shot, it's got 365 kudos <3
Most popular multi-chapter: I think I might have fallen in love, what am I to do? - my Sarawatine fic that has 414 kudos <3
Actual worst part of writing: thinking up words agshshs
How do you choose your titles?: it's usually song titles or lyrics or a reference to a particular line I wrote in the fic itself, it really just depends on what happens while I'm writing and what I'm writing for tbh
Do you outline?: no, can't be bothered, and when I can, well, the fic goes off the rails anyway so, no planning only writing
Ideas I probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice?: Literally any idea in my google docs 🙂🙂
Callouts @ me: FINISH SOMETHING, FINISH ONE THING, ANYTHING PLEASE!! STOP GETTING IDEAS AND THEN ABANDONING THEM!!
Best writing traits: idk maybe dialogue, or writing characters to be awkward or frustrating on purpose
Spicy tangential opinion: I think second lead syndrome is just a result of the audience using the MC as a self-insert rather than seeing the character as another thing unaffected by their ( the audience member's ) own personal agency because honestly I read people's "hot takes" on some male leads and I just "??? did you even watch the show or did you zone out until your favorite pretty face ( 2nd male lead ) came on screen and ignored anything bad/questionable he did??"
I tag @ralbeleren @ahysopae and anyone who sees this and wants to do this!

🌻🌈✨️💎💖💌
(Those might be a little out of order, I just remembered the emojis, not what order they were listed in lol)
thank you!! And don't worry about it being out of order, it's not a problem
(also apologies in advance because this turned into some MAJOR rambling)
🌻what makes you want to give up on writing? what makes you keep going?
I thrive off of feedback, and so I tend to get discouraged when I write something I'm proud of and it gets little/no response. It starts to feel like I'm putting a lot of effort into something that's just going to float aimlessly through the void, and I have other hobbies that I could spend my time on.
And admittedly, this happens sometimes when I swap read with a friend too - I put a lot of effort into commenting, marking lines and making note of all the little things I liked, since I always love getting those sorts of comments on my own writing, and then my writer friend either won't read my writing in exchange, or won't comment on it so I don't even know what they thought. That's not meant to be a callout and I'm not upset with anyone in particular, it's just a fairly consistent thing I've noticed and it makes sustaining motivation difficult.
Generally this is resolved by either receiving a surprise comment or two (I literally got a two-line comment on A Love Once New and it pulled me out of 2 months of uninspired dormancy), or simply pressing myself through the hard parts because I know there's a scene I've been dying to write coming up.
🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?
Okay, so I have a bad habit of starting fics in the most underused fandoms or with the most underappreciated characters, so it's kind of a tossup. But I'm actually gonna go with A Love Once New for this one, for one particular reason.
That fic is LONG. Over 200k words at this point. And given I started it over two years ago at this point, my writing's a lot better now than it was when I began. I worry that people will click onto it, but the old writing style will chase them away (it's not bad, but certainly not great) and they won't bother sifting through 60-something chapters to get to the new, well-written stuff.
I've put so much love and thought into that fic, but I feel like it just doesn't get appreciated the way I want it to.
(but also I work really fucking hard on everything I write so they all kinda fall into that category)
✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)
I used to have a longtime consistent reader on Smoke and Mirrors, who left these really great, multi-paragraph comments on every chapter, and it gave me so much joy to write that one. And then I had a second reader who came in after a while, and left slightly shorter but still really wonderful comments. But they disappeared, and the only comment I got on the most recent chapter was along the lines of "I don't really like being left in suspense, I hope Madison's okay. Nice update though." I'm grateful for the comment, but... not the most inspiring, y'know? It reads to me almost like a warning, like "you're losing my attention, please resolve this plot before I leave too"
I really wish I could get a few of those readers back, honestly. Smoke and Mirrors has some of my most dynamic characterization, a great slowburn, and I feel like I've struck a really good blend of angst and softness. I'm genuinely very proud of what I've built with that one and my writing keeps improving each chapter, but it feels like my readers have just been trickling away despite that.
💎why is writing important to you?
In a general sense, I feel like writing is an incredibly good way to showcase different perspectives and generate compassion and understanding in a way that other forms of media can't. Writing helps showcase not only a character's actions but their thoughts and worldview, which is an excellent tool for representation.
In a personal sense, writing is important to me because I feel more understood myself. I can incorporate my thoughts and perspectives or even rant about some of my personal pains through the lens of the story, and usually turn it into something compelling and interesting to the reader. I can channel my emotions into the words, and actually make something positive and creative out of them. It helps me keep the rampant ideas from piling up on me, helps me focus my thoughts, and makes me more articulate when I need to express something in the real world.
💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
I wasn't expecting Who Waits Forever Anyway? to get so much attention! I knew there was a standing Night at the Museum fandom since everyone loves Jed and Octavius, but I was surprised that so many people actually engaged with my Ahkmenrah-centered fic too! I've had three or four consistent readers (non-writer friends, people who genuinely just stumbled into the story and decided to stick with it) since the beginning, and that fic probably gets as many comments as the others combined. Catch and Release has more hits and bookmarks, but doesn't seem to have as many consistently engaged readers.
And on the opposite side of things, I'm surprised Secret Worlds and (Farewell) Wanderlust got so little attention. The Sandman is popular, the fandom appears to be pretty active, and the Corinthian is a well-liked character as a whole. Plus, I feel like those two pieces are some of my better bits of writing. Logically, I'd have thought it would get more attention.
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
Okay, so recently my motivation has been almost entirely devoted to this new fic called Taking Flight (thank you ADHD, I literally can't focus on any of my other WIPs right now), but I've been trying to work on the next chapter of Desert Song! I don't want to spoil too much, but I'll give you two things: it starts and ends with flashbacks, and the focus song for this chapter is The History of Wrong Guys from Kinky Boots.
The history of wrong guys:
Chapter one, he’s a bum.
Two, he’s not into you.
Three, he’s a sleaze.
Four, loves the girl next door.

This whole thing is so weird. Liking a piece of media doesn’t mean you endorse the creators views. A drawing of two aged up child characters standing next to each other isn’t pedophilia. Being able to remove one post and person from the site completely doesn’t mean it’s a feasible thing to implement side wide. Tumblr has like 200 staff. There’s probably more of the posts we all want gone made every minute than there are tumblr staff members. Moderation has got to get better but responding to this with “so you could do this all along and just choose not to” is ridiculous. Completely removing the post and blogger does seem like an overreaction but given she’s deleted or privated most of her socials (importantly without hiding the stuff on her tumblr people had issues with, so this isn’t an attempt to hide it) and also given how many people seem to think “this person likes Harry Potter” is a callout of a horrific act of bigotry I feel like there may be some stuff that went on privately in terms of harassment. Like this still seems quite over the top but maybe not as much as it seems with the info we have. I find it hard to believe this went down in the way everyone is reading it. Very chronically online moment from the tumblr user base today. Especially given that half of them are literally enjoying Dracula right now.
You are absolutely correct, someone's fictional taste does not dictate their moral or political stances. And this is super weird. I'm mostly cocking my head because like... she called a staff member a freak and a terf and then was surprised when it... got her nuked.
You raise good points about whether the ban and deletion is mass implementable, because yeah, it likely isn't. I do think how staff responded is ridiculous, but that's due to the extreme normalcy of harassment on here. Suicide baiting is common. Harassment and ban evasion are common. In the past if not now, mass reported blogs could be taken down without someone actually reviewing whether the reports were accurate. So this feels a little like "ah, so some people are more equal than others, I understand".
re: the person who got banned, whose name I'm keeping out of my blog where possible... I'd honestly say that her name being attached to the call out is pretty damning: it's making serious accusations (it calls someone a predator and a nazi) over fanart. Maybe not the smartest move, in addition to being wildly disconnected from reality. Staff are bigger fish than no-name bloggers.
It's been two days and I'm already exhausted by the number of "they were banned for calling staff an HP fan!" takes. Her screenshots have her calling a staff member a freak for liking Attack on Titan. I don't know about you, but my back goes up when I see the word "freak". It's usually trotted out by a very specific and very pro-harassment group on here. And I don't have any faith in "i didn't tell anyone to go harass her" because as far as I can tell... that particular group doesn't need to be told.
Now, I'm gonna assume the she who hid her socials is the staff member because... honestly, I'm not following this very closely, and hopefully I can keep that up. But uhh, if she wasn't getting harassed before this I'm sure she is now. I haven't been able to escape this and it's only been two days, I might log out for a week or so.
LOL. Dracula is different because (incoherent mumbling noises) and antisemitism only counts when it was done in the... 2000's? I don't know, it's late and I'm tired, and your post is excellent, thanks for taking the time to write it. It brightened my mood :)
