hash is more of a canon adjacent agent 4. poser, loser, really dramatic and really loud. kidna does whatever they want and also likes to leave graffitti on the kettles they clear. theyre also an only child. they also call marie mom jsut to annoy her. also their hairstyle is the bob in the front but the back is spiky/shaved. theyre a silly lil punk.

ikarus is a cynical asshole. and also a self centered poser whos set on looking cool for whoevers watching. he has 2 younger siblings and 1 older sister. hes from outside greater inkopolis, thinks hes better than the in city inkopolitans but behaves the exact same. he sucks i love him. he really looks up to n respects marie bc she reminds him of his elder sister. his fav brand is toni kensa

ikarus got the agent job first, n got rlly mad when they found out that theres another agent 4 bc he didnt show up enough nd marie just hired someone else. they share a uniform. they try to annoy eachother by puttinf the weirdest smelling stuff in the uniform b4 leaving it at the canyon. when talking ab em as agent 4 i like to use #4 for hash and n°4 for ikarus

the three actually make a pretty good unit in their apartement. hash and ikarus only find out theyre both agent 4 when its time for the boss fight and both of them show up to get it done with. theyre both very competitive. they end up fighting over it and hash wins. ikarus is on the truck w sheldon and marie and is yelling insults at the battlefield until marie shuts him up so she can sing.

thw three roommates also always do salmon run shifts together. if they fuck up on a wave they always blame it on the one freelancer. yes they also kiss.

theyve always been really fascinated with inklings and also were going to become an engineer before running off and landing in the metro.

they are very well spoken but also pretty shy. they try to make a good impression on people. finds it hard to trust others.

it took a while until he got used to sleeping in a bed. still sleeps with an eye open sometimes. its a habit.

theyre usualyl the one forcing three into at least okay looking clothes. oh also this tall loser likes to wear heels n platforms. hes literally taller than marina and still wears heels.

he actually started learning inklish back in octo valley from really outdated books. after coming to inkopolis hes been given a buncha annotated language books from marina (and from three, who still had the ones they used w the other octo girlie). but they still end up using some really old phrases and words that kinda leave some people perplexed.

oh also they're not THAT good at fighting (they were never a soldier) theyre smart and persistent though. still ended up severely in debt w pearl bc of the metro. pearl offered he can just work as stage crew for off the hook for a few tours or so and theyre good. he took the offer immediately bc bro barely got income to repay that all normally.

I was going through the manhwa and it hit me that unlike Athy and Jennette's dresses, we never see anyone dissecting the meaning behind Claude or Anastacius's costume, even though they have much underlying symbolism to offer with all their varying colours and motifs. And these are the two most rich characters in terms of backstory and human relationships. Ur detailed dissection on Jennette's costumes are so good that I'm scarily tempted to tempt u to do this one. Will u do this one analysis🥺???

I don't know anything about the medals or the flowers on Claude's clothings since I'm don’t know flower language... But I can give my thoughts on some of his clothings.

Claude wears three types of clothings throughout the manhwa: 1. royal military uniforms 2. togas 3. victorian children clothings of the upper/middle class (play suits + sailor suits).

What is striking is that all three types of clothings he wore can be associated with freedom and oppression equally (1. military 2. ancient romans 3. royal navy).

Let's start with the first outfit he wore as a child: The sailor suit.

In 1846, the four-year-old Albert Edward, Prince of Wales was given a scaled-down version of an enlisted man’s sailor suit. It was almost certainly a carefully chosen decision calculated to make the public associate the monarchy which had declined in popularity with the most popular institution in Britain -The Royal Navy.

What do we know about the royal navy? Besides it’s role in British colonialism and the suppression of many Asian and African peoples, it helped to defeat a series of opponents for the most part countries goverened by authoritarian or dictatorial rulers (Philip II, Louis XIV, Napoleon, Kaiser Wilhelm II), in other words: tyrants.

Sailor suits which are associated with childishness and innocence stand in juxtaposition to it’s militaristic origin . It’s a reminder how young Claude was still pure and innocent, yet without being fully aware of it he was thrown into a battle for succession at such a young age, and expected to survive or die trying.

We could also dvelve into color theory a little bit: Brown is mostly associated with humility, plainness and poverty. It could be a reminder of his commoner origin. Perhaps it tells us that his mother didn’t have much money back then and Claude had to get dressed in clothes that didn’t gave away easily how often they got mended or got dirty, because his mother could only afford a few sets of clothing. This is only a speculation: perhaps the money meant for Claude was mostly used for the treatment of his mother’s sickness. (I can’t see the Emperor paying the treatment of a chronically ill lover. Unless he actually loved her).

We could also assume that Claude intentionally picked out plain brown clothing that would allow him to blend well with the environment. The flashback in chapter 73 shows us little Claude hiding behind the bushes from the palace guards. Considering his state of increased alertness, he seemed to be used to sense danger approaching and find ways to hide quickly and efficiently.

Ah before I forget too much brown can also create feelings of sadness, isolation and loneliness...alright, you get what I mean, I stop here. 

Now to Anastacius. While Claude’s attire is more lowkey about it’s violent origin: Anastacius’ is more upfront. He’s already aware of the situation he is in. He knows his little brother is more talented than him and feels threatened enough to consider the words of Caracks who tried to lure him away. Anastacius wears something resembling a mix of military uniform and a victorian play suit in blue and red.

Blue was also considered the most prestigious colour, and was granted to “royal” regiments.

I think Anastacius and Claude’s outfits were meant to show that they were at a crossroad in life. When Ana was still friendly with Claude he started out wearing play outfits and then as his relationship with Anastacius deteriorated, gradually started to wear normal suits and uniforms until he was wearing his ceremonial military uniform at the day he killed Ana.

The Obelia brother’s wearing a military uniform signifies that they are at war with someone. They are ready to spill blood. You can see it in The Lovely Princess, where when Athy meets Claude for the first time, instead of a toga he is wearing a military uniform and continues to do so almost until his death. We know that Diana was the one who introduced him to Siodonna’s fashion. With the memories of her gone, so was the peaceful presence in his life and he became a misanthrope. The memory spell had taken full affect and he was incapable to love or care for Athy in any way. Athy became his biggest torment, his enemy. Similarly our! Claude is only wearing a military uniform at official occations like Athy’s debutante ball, where he had to face the nobles which he resented so much. And even now, in the latest chapters he bothered to change his clothes with magic from a toga into a uniform when he reunited with his elder brother.

Whenever Anastacius and Claude are wearing a military uniform they are meeting someone hated (LP verse Claude met Athy, birthday baquet! Claude met the nobles (Roger), and now in chapter 109 he met his brother who had tried to kill him), they either want to demonstrate strenght (the uniform at Athy’s birthday baquet was more show) or they are ready to attack (the uniform in the recent chapters was more practical to move in).

However they are also stress on the fact that they belong to the royal family and are ought to be respected.

Ana wore almost constantly military uniforms, because he felt the need to show that he was the heir. Not only by birthright, but also in appearance. Only when he went undercover he switched his wardrobe to suits (still, in purple in the color of royality) and puffy shirts. You can see it when Anastacius entered the palace with Jennette. When Ana is fighting against Claude he is either wearing a royal blue (past) or a combination of red and black (present).

“ Black and red. In western culture, these are the two most sinister colors, as red typically conveys the meaning of blood or anger, and black is that of darkness or death. Being a very visually striking combination, they can also convey a sense of power. Together, they additionally give the impression of burning coal or wood, i.e. "fire and destruction".”

In his previous life he bought fire and destruction upon Obelia...like in Athy’s nightmare remember? So it’s is kind of a bad omen as well.

Anastacius uniform in black and red forms a strong contrast to Claude’s uniform, which is dyed in colors of purple and pure white. “The color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Purple also represents meanings of wealth, extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic.”

My point is that Ana’s appearance reflect his state of mind. Being all the time at war with his brother. The paranoia to get overthrown.  The fear not to be enought. He insisted on wearing the ceremonial royal uniform, the crown and the coat, in royal colors, because he felt inferior towards Claude and it made him feel safer. If he thought his own skills as heir were lacking he sought to compensate with the way he presented himself in public (his inferiority complex might have contributed to his lavish livestyle and tendency to waste money). 

The only exception where Ana is not wearing a uniform is a scene during the time of Ana and Claude’s falling out. But he still emphasizes that he belongs to the Imperial family in another way: The brooch on his vest, has the same blue shade as the color of his eyes, which are a trademark sign that only the Imperial family possesses. In chapter 109, Claude and Athy chose to wear a similary colored brooch to show that they are the “true” heirs.

Wylan knew Nikolai wouldn’t have too much time for him—he was a king, after all! Once they reached Os Alta, he doubted he would see Nikolai more than once a week. If that. It was what his father did—church on Sunday, lunch after. Those were the times he had with his son.

Time with his heir was another story, but as that story tended to end in tears and bruises, Wylan wasn’t especially eager to remember it.

Instead he tried to focus on the present. In the present, he was riding into Os Alta, following the king—following Nikolai, his friend. His only friend. But that didn’t matter, because being close to Nikolai was like being in sunlight. Who needed more than one sun?

Being on horseback reminded Wylan of the day he and Nikolai met. Later he realized how foolish he had been to walk off with the first kind stranger to hold his hand, but Nikolai only took him to see the horses. Wylan had been small for eight and Nikolai had been big for fourteen, and Nikolai lifted him up so he could pet the horse’s neck.

Wylan didn’t need anyone to lift him up now.

They dismounted outside the Grand Palace, and Wylan patted the horse’s neck before a groom led him away.

“Welcome to the Grand Palace,” Nikolai said.

Wylan was already gaping. There were fine buildings in Ketterdam, but nothing so… sprawling! The space! The gardens! Everything was so close at home, and since leaving he breathed deeper. He hadn’t expected to find the palace so open—like the grandest of city blocks rolled flat like dough.

“I hope he didn’t take too many careless risks!”

“This is Tamar,” Nikolai told Wylan.

“Of course he did, he has not grown sense in the past month.”

“And General Nazyalensky, to what do I owe the pleasure of your glorious company?”

“This was your important errand?” asked the rather terrifying woman, gesturing at Wylan. He fought the urge to take a step back.

“I said too many. A few careless risks make life enjoyable,” said Tamar.

“Tamar understands me. May I assume from your presence, Zoya, that there have been developments?”

Wylan felt the conversation shifting, the energy in the group shifting, and felt like he ought to shift as well. But where to? His mouth suddenly tasted of thin bile. He knew Nikolai wouldn’t have that much time for him, he just had rather hoped not to be left standing alone in a courtyard.

Instead, Nikolai told him, “I’ll have someone take you to settle in and I’ll see you later on, all right?”

“Can’t I stay with you?” Wylan blurted. He didn’t come to see the Grand Palace or… or anything. He was here for Nikolai. It didn’t matter if he was standing in the corner being invisible. He was good at standing in the corner and being invisible!

Nikolai gave him a sympathetic look, then asked his General, “How sensitive is the information?”

“Too sensitive,” she said. Wylan had the distinct impression she disliked him, and he had no idea why. All he had done was arrive!

Nikolai seemed truly sorry when he sent Wylan to get settled in. Wylan was sorry, too. On the ship, he had so much time with Nikolai, he was allowed to follow him almost anywhere… but he understood that kings were busy people. When Nikolai said he would catch up with Wylan later, Wylan nodded and grinned, not because he believed it but because he knew Nikolai wanted it to be true. That mattered more, sometimes.

Besides, he was a fourteen-year-old boy with considerable access to a royal palace! He would find a way to occupy his time. He would just… avoid the General. It would be easy—she was surely very busy.

'Dead Leaves' - the meaning of this song details a dying relationship slowly falling apart and there's one particular person it makes me think of. It perfectly captures that feeling of knowing something is going to end, hell, it needs to end, but still not wanting it to. Although I don't want to be with that person, it was a very important time in my life and every time I hear this song, I think everything about it is exqusite, the lyrics, the melody, the way it was delivered.

'Dionysus' - maybe not the most unique? But actually, I kind of think it is, at least for BTS as a group, they don't usually do things like this. Almost like refined rock, the heavy bass line, mmm, I love it. If I had a WWE opening when I walked into the room, it would be this LMAO (and Jin screaming, fuck, can you tell I love this song?) AND THE EDM MIX UGHHH yes this song is me on the outside (and Agust D - 'People' is me on the inside), thank you Hoseok for this masterpiece!!

'Go Go' - I just think this song is 1) hilarious and 2) has a really cool beat. The flute / xylophone feel repeating the same-ish melody but then their voices bring you through the layers of the song. It's like how rappers have songs about spending big money but make it fucking adorable and actually relatable to the everyday young adult. It's kinda weird but also so cleverly done XD I play this song when I'm online shopping pfft

'Telepathy' - "You're only putting this on here because this is Yoongi's song." Fuck yeah I am, I'm biased and for good reason, this song fucking slaps. Everyone's on the retro hype train but this is the one that really takes me back; it makes me think of summer nights and arcades and cosmic bowling all day. I know everyone loves 'Dynamite', and I do too, but the lyrics of 'Telepathy' are a little sad paired with a beat that's a whole lot happy and that juxtoposition, mmm. I also love the ad libs and little bits at the end of the lyrics (like parenthesis and it reminds me if myself XD you can see this style in 'best laid plans'). Overall this whole retro style is done 1) better than most, 2) highlights the unique color and flavor of everyone's voice (JK??? You can tell Yoongi likes his voice lol), 3) is actually a fucking bop with deep meaning, 4) created by my favorite wrinkly brain and absolute cutie, 5) no I will not shut up about Min Yoongi

Hey, ur blog is cool! About AU-asks, how was Rowanstar before being leader? How is his relationship with his family? Parents, brother and his mate Tawnypelt? (is he trans in ur au?? It's okay if not, just asking!)

Rowanstar isn’t trans in my rewrite, though I support the headcanon full heartedly. I just never saw it while writing, meanwhile others like Redtail and Ivypool clicked for me. But a couple things about Rowanclaw/star…

He’s the son of Scorchwind and Darkflower. Darkflower was a kittypet brought to the clan by Scorchwind. This is meant to be an echo to Scorchwind and Raggedstar’s family situation.

Rowankit and Cedarkit are very close growing up after the death of their sister Lavenderkit. She dies of Carrionplace disease from the infected rat.

Rowanpaw is apprenticed to the former rogue, Jaggedtooth. His mentor is tough on him but ShadowClan is in a rougher culture so Rowanpaw thinks this is normal for a while.

BloodClan battle happens and Rowanpaw is crushed when Jaggedtooth leaves for BloodClan. He has a stigma against cats from outside ShadowClan after that, and even has a falling out with his mother for her kittypet roots.

This is also the main source of his dislike for Tawnypelt at first.

In terms of personality, Rowanclaw has always been consistently overly serious. He was a big rule follower who was competitive, especially with Tawnypelt. As he matures he becomes more patient but struggles socially as he cares a bit too much about how others think of him. He wants to please everyone, which Tawnypelt has to remind him is impossible.

Now for relationships

Scorchwind is the sort of stereotypical, serious, disciplinary father. He loves his children but could be seen as intimidating and harsh, especially when Rowanstar and Cedarheart were younger. Rowanclaw was never especially close with his father, but they had mutual respect, and Scorchwind never neglected him in a way that would make Rowanclaw think he wasn’t loved. Scorchwind wasn’t the most affectionate, but he would slip in a “Good catch” or “I’m proud of you” here and there. 

Darkflower is the opposite of her mate. She’s a loving mother who was gentle and kind. Cedarheart took after her more than Rowanclaw, but that didn’t mean he didn’t love and appreciate her. She was always there to give advice and remind her sons that every cat is different and no story is the same. Rowanclaw had a brief falling out with her when his dislike for outsiders began to flourish and one of his outbursts got personal. She was hurt, but eventually came and reminded him what she taught him and how most of ShadowClan had outsider blood. That didn’t mean their loyalties should be doubted. It’s her advice that helps him to recognize his complicated feelings for Tawnypelt.

Cedarheart and Rowanstar are very close. Rowanstar was the serious and no-nonsense brother while Cedarheart was loudmouthed and troublesome. They were similar to that of Leafpool and Squirrelflight in that they were very close despite being total opposites. While his injury and moving to the elder’s den may have slowed him down, Cedarheart still carries his pride and humor. It’s a running joke that Dawnpaw took after Cedarheart, and the two of them are close. Cedarheart and Rowanstar are still close even as they are older and have growing families.

Tawnypelt and Rowanstar had a rough relationship at first. Rowanclaw treated her poorly for being ThunderClan and continued to when she returned from the Great Journey. Despite this, Rowanclaw began to develop a strange admiration for Tawnypelt. He noticed things he hadn’t before like her rippling muscles, her sense her humor, and her fiery spirit. It was frustrating for him, and Cedarheart and Darkflower had to spell it out for him. At first he didn’t want to admit it, but his apprentice, Talonpaw, created situations that forced them to be around each other more. It’s cute at first, but it wasn’t until after his apprentice Talonpaw was killed that he admitted his feelings and they became mates.

In terms of relationship, they have very good communication. Rowanstar can talk about anything with her and she will listen and give advice if he wants it. They truly see each other as equals and any problems are usually swiftly solved with a brief talk. It’s rare that they fight or get really fired up, as they typically see eye to eye. They always have each other’s back and are loyal to each other.

Tigerpaw and Rowanstar are close. Rowanstar wanted to be a more active father in his children’s lives so he made an effort to individually bond with each of them. Tigerpaw was the easiest to talk to as they are similar. Tigerpaw is the good golden son that doesn’t cause trouble so they have a stable and positive relationship.

Dawnpaw is the opposite. She doesn’t dislike her father, but her rebellious and sassy attitude can often undermine her father. Tawnypelt is the discipline of the family so Rowanstar is often unsure of what to do with her. He scolds her but her snark fires back that he’s left stunned. They talk and can get along, but as her attitude grows, it becomes increasingly harder for him to be patient with her. He worries about her the most, often whispering to Tawnypelt about them raising a delinquent.

Flamepaw is in the middle. Rowanstar and he get along and they talk, but they don’t share common interests. Rowanstar’s go to idea is hunting as a form of bonding, but Flamepaw isn’t the best with this and ends up being an outcast of sorts. Rowanstar remedies this by asking how training is going and showing interest in his son’s duties. It can come off as a bit disingenuine with how overly enthusiastic he tries to be, but Flamepaw appreciates his father trying.

time for our resident haraguro(?) boi, Sakyo. tbh I’m not looking forward for his route at all bc I am absolutely fucking scared of anything close to yan. my kokoro is not strong enough for them. but I do like Sakyo in the drama cds, especially the momoyo tsuzuri one. he’s like the most gentle boi with a tendency to tease Kayo or anyone else, whether or not that’s what he intended to do or not.

WARNING: THIS BOI BROKE ME PLS HELP

so our boi Sakyo has two kind of face; one, the ‘normal’, a bit formal and proper personality he showed to others. the other is the 100% enraged, I-will-kill-you-slowly-bc-I-wanna-enjoy-killing-you type of thing. he has a bit of an anger issue as well that he does exactly nothing to hide if ppl mentioned them. his purpose in life is only to exact the revenge of some oni who attacked and murdered his entire family. Sakyo mentioned in the common route that he didn’t trust (or don’t like) Enishi and Suzukake. I suppose he didn’t like ppl who didn’t seem to be dependable.

after the whole merry joyride to Sunpu, Sakyo went to some cave which was rumored to gather a heck load of oni trying to do... something? IDK. but they had already cleared the cave and was on the way to Edo. back in Edo, Kayo’s dad put up a banquet for the six samurai who had been protecting his precious baby girl but Sakyo didn’t manage to be present. he was instead busy in his pursuit for Zantetsu, one of the oni who killed entire family. but unfortunately, Sakyo walked right into a trap and was surrounded by oni and he got away with a terrible wound on his arm (I don’t remember which but he did say it’s no biggie bc he use his sword in another). it was night when Kayo saw Yanohiko, a neighboring kid, was wandering around saying he was getting some water for a wounded samurai. after Kayo realized it was Sakyo, she took him to her room and somehow managed to hide a whole person for a long time in her own fucking room without her dad even noticed!!! what the heck dad like i respect that u respect ur baby girl’s privacy but a wHOLE GROWN ASS PERSON!!! IN UR FUCKING HOUSE!!! FOR MANY DAYS!!!!

and so while living incognito in a girl’s room, Yanohiko came by as well to play with Sakyo. dude is actually not 24/7 angry or thinking about revenge. he is quite gentle with Yanohiko and taught the boy to write and play goma (spinning top?). there is one goddamn funny scene when Kayo’s dad suddenly wanna talk with her and there’s nowhere to hide Sakyo so she shoved him into her futon and get in with him with his goddamn face between her legs lol. STILL THE DAD DIDN’T FUCKING NOTICE???? welp. eventually Sakyo heard about Zantetsu going to enter the tourney that was going to take place and he took off without telling Kayo, leaving her having to lie to Yanohiko whenever the boy asked for him. she managed to find him later when he was trying to get his family’s treasured sword, Hotarumaru, to be fixed/sharpened by a famous fixer(?). he was refused, though, for obvious reason that Sakyo just wanted to kill with his sword.

Kayo shared this with Suzukake who had been supplying her with the medicine for Sakyo and my son said he, too, gonna join the tourney. so she and Suzukake went to the tourney together to see Sakyo. they heard about Zantetsu (lol Suzu called him ojisan) being a merciless opponent and got worried when later Sakyo was to fight him. Sakyo showed some... I think some kind of arrest warrant or written right for him to ask for a duel to the death, for killing his father, mother and elder sister?? or something?? but since Sakyo having his arm still injured and his sword not fixed, he lost the match terribly. Suzukake and Kayo wanna see him at the back room where he was taken but got refused bc Sakyo was ‘desecrating the holy tourney ground with his selfish need to exact his revenge’ or something. Sakyo was to be dumped into jail but Enishi came by and after some ‘talking’ (remember; he is actually some big shot in the Edo castle), he promised that he will make sure Sakyo will be taken care of and would not be in jail.

Kimi -nice end-

all thanks to strings pulled by Enishi, Sakyo is free from being jailed. he met Kayo to tell her everything about his tragic past. when he was a kid (8yo I think), he had a terrible fever and was bedridden. this coincidentally made him hidden from a murdering oni who came for the entire Sagihara family, who he explained was the descendant of those who forged the Five Heavenly Swords. I could not get why the Sagiharas were killed, but Sakyo survived thanks to his nurse maid and incidentally inherited his family’s heirloom, the Hotarumaru. from the age of 12, he strive to become a samurai and would eventually hunt every oni he could find, but because Sakyo was defeated by Zantetsu in the tourney, Sakyo didn’t feel like he is worthy of such pride of his family’s name. he left it in a cave and determined to carry on life no longer as a samurai. Kayo, after hearing all these, understands the whole dilemma the dude is in, but she told him it’s not reason enough to leave behind what was precious to the memory of his family. convinced by her words, Sakyo and Kayo made their way to the cave where he left Hotarumaru and retrieve it. when he unsheathe it then, glowing orbs of light filled the dark cave like a real firefly. Sakyo was so ashamed that he almost abandoned the sword there and from then vowed to always carry it with him as if he was carrying his family on his shoulders. Kayo later convinced the sword fixer/sharpener(?) person to fix Hotarumaru.

after getting his sword back, he told Kayo he couldn’t let Zantetsu’s sin towards his family to go free so he left her one night with a letter he told her to open if he never returned. while he went for his supposed one-on-one duel, Kayo just can’t sit still waiting for Sakyo to come back. she went to follow him but met Kei on the way of his patrol. buddy told her to stay home while he grab some of his pals to help Sakyo. those pals turned out to be the rest of them samurai who went to Sunpu the other day! thankfully for that, Sakyo was saved by an ambush planned by Zantetsu. Tsuzumi was there as well as he was threatened with Nanae’s life he didn’t cooperate. in the end, Zantetsu is finally dead and Sakyo could then rest easy the revenge he was living for has ended.

in the after story, Sakyo married Kayo with the five samurai buddies became her real bridal escort procession to Sakyo’s home country of Yamashiro.

Kimi -another nice end-

not that different than the previous ending, but Kayo was there with her naginata to help with Sakyo instead of staying home. fortunately, she arrived when Zantetsu got done dead. later there was news regarding Sakyo wanting to return back to his home country and probably will not coming back, and everyone knew about Kayo’s relationship with Sakyo. they all asked if she’s going with him, or why she’s unbothered about him going away, but baby girl really didn’t know how to react. sure, they’re lovers, but Sakyo never told her what he planned to do in the future, or whether or not that involved her at all.

Kayo held another feast for her samurai friends and also doubles as a farewell to Sakyo but the dude came late and has no idea why ppl giving him a farewell party. Kayo noticed him looking angry and restless seeing how close the other samurai dudes with her. Sakyo later couldn’t sit still anymore and pulled her to talk alone. there he told her he has no plan on going home aside from a short trip to visit his family’s grave, and that he planned to open up a free shrine school (kinda like a private but small informal school) for kids like Yanohiko who got orphaned and not privileged enough for a basic education. Sakyo and Kayo promised to marry each other soon.

Ken -too terrible what the heck end-

Kayo still tried to convince Sakyo from acting on his revenge against Zantetsu. Sakyo got annoyed and angry bc of this, that he assaulted Kayo to show how much of a terrible guy he is in actuality. he part ways with her and supposedly never to see her again, but he found himself led by a mysterious force to a cave where the whole shits of Asakura trying to reincarnate Tadanaga. there was nothing there but an ominous looking sword called the Muramasa. Sakyo took it after hearing a woman’s ghostly voice lamenting about her unborn child. he immediately thought the ghost to be his dead sister who had returned to the Sagihara family due to her getting pregnant and wanted to stay close to her parents during the whole pre-natal care.

however unknown to Sakyo, it was a malevolent evil spirit which was leading him to find Zantetsu to murder him. he got drunk with the pleasure to kill and didn’t stop at just one person. he managed to kill 10 ppl in one night at Yoshiwara alone, and he wasn’t stopping anytime soon. Kayo actually met with Sakyo before going on his murdering rampage and he told her he had thrown away his Hotarumaru in a lake bc the evil spirits in Muramasa told him to. there was no doubt that the madman who was killing people in the night was Sakyo, the man that she loved. she asked the help of her samurai friends to stop Sakyo but things got much worst when Yanohiko became his victim. the boy just wanted to show Sakyo his spinning top.

eventually they figured out about the evil sword and thought they’d better try to separate Sakyo from it or kill him entirely. they went to the lake where Kayo heard Sakyo said he dumped Hotarumaru, thinking if there’s any humanity left in him, he might want to reunited with his family’s heirloom. unfortunately, in his clouded mind, Sakyo heavily injured Kayo and she succumbed to the wound despite whatever Suzukake tried to do. Sakyo decided to kill himself in a cave with some kind of explosive.

they met in the afterlife and thought to cross the Sanzu river together to... Heaven? but the evil sword reminded Sakyo how much of a sin he had committed, and that he belongs to Hell. Kayo decided to fall to the endless abyss with Sakyo for eternity. this is a terrible ending I hate it.

Ken -just as terrible end-

Kayo managed to stop Sakyo from killing Yanohiko but the dude fled after realizing what he was trying to do. Kayo figured out that he needed to be reunited with Hotarumaru so she went to the lake where he dumped it. Sakyo was there, but he has already made up his mind that nothing he could do would ever atone his sins so he jumped into the lake. Kayo follow suit and they woke up in the afterlife. they tried to cross the Sanzu river but Sakyo stopped halfway saying there’s a lot of angry ppl on the other side, not gonna let him into Heaven. they were the innocent lives he had murdered before. Kayo, on the other hand, didn’t see the angry souls but instead heard some familiar voices calling for her. Sakyo guessed it must have been her loved ones in the living world. he told her to follow the voice and lived a happy life for his behalf. Kayo woke up again surrounded by her panicky dad and her friends. they told her she was floating by the lake, but Sakyo’s body was nowhere to be seen.

the epilogue has Kayo wanting to pay respect to Sakyo’s victim’s graves.

HOOOO BOY I SURE AS FUCK DIDN’T ENJOY THESE KEN ROUTES ONE BIT WHO THE FUCK WROTE THEM I WANT TO SUE FOR THE EMOTIONAL DAMAGES THEY DIDDDD!!! I’M BROKEN, YOU KNOW!!! well at least I like that in Sakyo’s four routes, the roles of the other samurai dudes are quite prominent. it’s nice to see the whole stupid scene with Tsuzu and Suzu arguing about the other stealing the food, Enishi teasing Saneaki that he can’t drink, also Kei the tsukkomi lol that was a nice scene.

FINALLY!!! now I get to my baby son, Suzukake!!!! I’ve actually half cleared his route before but didn’t see the ending yet. I SURE AS FLYING FUCKERY SHIT WILL NOT BE READY FOR THE ROUTE WHICH MY SON DIE!!!! probably I would skip it....

Some thinky thoughts as I watch jacksepticeye play BATIM Chapter 4, spoilers ahoy:

CONFESSION: I agree with Jack that Chapter 3 kinda dragged to the point where I....... actually never watched the full thing, I think? It’s where things got more interesting from a gameplay perspective and there was a lotta stuff I liked but also I noticed in LP videos it tended to devolve into people walking around in circles trying to figure out what Alice wanted ‘em to do.

Speaking of Alice! I’m at 5:14 and jesus Susie. I already knew you went through some sanity slippage but thanks for the reminder!

Secret book passageways! A classic! And- okay, that sure happened. ...I kinda wish Henry would verbally react more to the Weird Shit though.
