Hello again! On your profile it says "please talk to me", does that mean we can send asks to chat? Are you comfortable with a maladaptive daydreamer texting you about your aus?
I'm afraid of looking like a request when in fact I just want to talk ;-;, but I practically only know how to talk like:
"I imagined thing1 thing2 and thing3 and...", "What if that happened?", "What are the your thoughts on this idea?", "I thought this about this and then this would happen and...", "This headcanon exists, what do you think of it?", "Wouldn't it be funny if that happened?" etc.
And so it becomes almost impossible not to seem like a request 😅
Yep! :D I've been meaning to remove that line soon, but I still absolutely appreciate interaction! It makes me very happy when people talk to me outside of requests and stuff.
And yeah, I don't care about the maladaptive daydreamer thing. Honestly, I'm just very !!!! that my Aus are winding up in those daydreams lol. It'll probably be fine if you just add a little note that you're sharing an idea, not asking for a request... but I will warn that I don't always know how to respond to things that aren't directly asking some kind of question. XD So if you don't mind short answers when I don't know what to say, go for it!

All of the “you just gotta reach out and be friendly!” advice rings kinda hollow for this fandom considering how being friendly with the “wrong” people can just get you blacklisted by a whole other corner of the community. It’s inevitable in all spaces, sure, but it’s just so bad here, especially when you essentially live and die by the very small, ever-dwindling crowd of the same people every day.
There’s not a lot of respect for people who don’t want to engage with all the weird shit going on, because the outrage merchants who whip up a frenzy about it make use of every single keyword that makes it a moral obligation to agree with them without question. It’s a terrible position to be in to have to “prove” what you went through, I know that and I’ve experienced it, but some claims are completely and totally out of left field. Accusing people of grooming just for using the “fandom parent” moniker? It’s effective because it’s one of those claims where you’re immediately suspect for being suspicious of it. Where’s the line? Does anyone even care? Is it a fear thing, or are we really so desperate to hate certain people that we’ll just latch on to anything that justifies it?
It’s okay to dislike people without them being secretly some weirdo or unquestionably evil. You don’t have to justify everything with a stance of moral superiority, it just makes you look like you’re compensating for something. I really hope those of us who feel that way can access therapy someday.
I agree with you. This elephant in the room that everyone knows and doesn't talk so much where you can't be friends with Thing1 because Thing3 doesn't like so if you get closer to Thing1 the group of Thing3 will hate you even thought they never even talked to you about anything before. They don't even know your name but they already hate you.

Dura Lex, Sed Lex
There was, uh, something about a man being arrested for swimming? In New York?
Now of course if you wanted to split hairs you could say that he wasn’t technically arrested, he was merely handcuffed after being ordered out of the water by a swarm of officers. And maybe that’s right.
But the image of a guy just wanting to swim and it just-so happening to be a crime to swim at the time he was swimming is a powerful one - the cherry being that, apparently lifeguard funding was cut and routed to the police, instead.
I don’t know, it was potent. Thus:
-
Dura Lex, Sed Lex
In the far-off cyber-year of twenty twenty-three, crime was out of control. The innocent were under siege. Technically speaking following the passage of the Law and Order and Freedom and Rainbows Bill1 the innocent made up a negative proportion of the population, but still.
The police – already stretched thin on a meagre seventy-five percent of the county’s budget – were at breaking point. What were they to do, faced with a tidal wave of chaotic disorder? They were already arresting every criminal they could lay their hands on, but there were only so many officers available, and they couldn’t be everywhere at once2.
And so it was that a state of emergency was declared. All non-essential services (road-maintenance, hospitals, schools, lifeguards, that sort of thing3) were suspended indefinitely and their funding immediately diverted into the police, who gratefully (and manlyly) used it to purchase robotic, crime-fighting dogs.
Of course, half a dozen cutting-edge cyberdogs could only do so much to stem the tide of rampant criminality. No matter how many ruthless, jaywalking, loitering, library-book-not-returning4 thugs were thrown into either of the country’s two (now rather snug) prisons the level of crime simply didn’t diminish. Options were limited.
So, with great reluctance, the chief of the department went to go and ask for an emergency dollop of cash – a mere two hundred billions cybercredits. A pittance, in the scheme of the things, but still something a bunch of unwashed vagrants felt the need to angrily (and loudly) kick up a fuss over.  What they called a ‘protest’ but which was plainly a riot, on account of there being at least three people or more present5.
Thankfully, after some direct and professional policing this unsanctioned display of uncitizen-like discontent was dispersed and the emergency dollop (now upped to eight hundred billion cybercredits, because of the professionalism that had been on display) was approved.
This money was immediately put towards the vital construction of a time-cruncher, one optimised for police use. The idea was that, retroactively, criminals could be erased from the chrono-stream the instant before they thought about the possibility of committing a crime, ridding the world of their vile stench and leaving the air free and clear for the law-abiding.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you happened to be a filthy, godless criminal6), owing to the software in the time-cruncher being original designed for use in accountancy (it had been cheaper and the bidder had said they could modify it) the only result was that every clock in a five hundred mile radius was now either six minutes too fast or too slow, whichever was least convenient.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you happened to be a filthy, godless criminal), violent crime was now seven thousand percent, as violent crime had been eliminated as a category of crime when it came to recording them7.
1. A mundane and uninteresting piece of legislation that, aside from a few lines spent on laying out the limits of privacy and streamlining the suspension of citizenship, largely concerned itself with clarifying the legal status of about two million legal acts. Or previously legal, rather.
2. Unlike the criminals.
3.The sort of thing you don’t need in a crisis.
4. The suspension of library services made returning books difficult, but that wasn’t the police’s fault.
5. The legal definition of a riot having long-ago been rectified to include any rambunctious gathering of one or more troublemakers.
6.  And, statistically speaking, everyone was at this point, excluding the police and the people paying the police, of course.
7.Thought not, of course, punishing them.

23 Things Digital - Thing 3
In this blog I will give a short oversight of the 23 Things digital - Thing 3 workshop and then conclude on how I think a digitally capable workforce can help to improve the lives of people who use services.
This workshop focuses on the confidence of the adult social care workforces digital capabilities,  the benefits of a digitally capable workforce and asks you to evaluate your own digital capabilities based on three metrics; capability, confidence and relevance.
Thing 3 provides an infographic detailing the Digital capabilities of the adult social care workforce. This is an extremely revealing graphic as it finds that while 90% of staff are either confident or very confident in their own basic online skills. Yet only 52% of managers believe they are confident or very confident in their own basic online skills. This provides a stark contrast in the digital confidence of staff and managers suggesting that in order to fully embrace the opportunities of the digital world will require ensuring managers have the training and confidence to pursue digital avenues as the staff on mass clearly have the confidence and skills to embrace digital avenues to assist them with their work.
This workshop details the SSSC’s views on why it is important to take advantage of digital learning. The SSSC believe the workforce should be enabled to take advantage of the huge range of learning opportunities afforded by embracing digital learning. However, that in pursuit of exploring digital learning it is important to avoid the emergence of a two-tier workforce, with one tier digitally confident and one tier not digitally confident. Furthermore, the SSSC believe service users should expect and be enabled to take advantage of the digital opportunities in society, in a safe manner
Reviewing my own digital skills was positive aspect of this workshop as it forced me to understand where my strengths and weaknesses are and asks me what I should do to improve them. For example, I believe that I have high digital capabilities however, I recognise that I should improve my digital capabilities in relation to Microsoft excel.
Finally, I think a digitally capable workforce can help to improve the lives of people who use services. As being digital capable means that things such as learning, record keeping and communication becomes much more streamlined and accessible. For example, rather than having to attend a course in another city or across town at a specific time, this can now be done digitally at any coinvent time. This clearly benefits services users as staff would be able to take such courses on a rotation as to not upset a service user by changing routines. Furthermore, being able to change shits or plan days out via digital means is far more beneficial as allows actions to be taken immediately and doesn't rely on face to face communication which has been very hard during a pandemic. This provides a small insight into the ways being digitally capable can improve a person's ability to work.
